It was a new day. Much like every day ever, really. It was cold, or at least cool, windy, and cloudless. Still somewhat early in the morning, three students were walking towards an unused practice arena, taking one of the myriad corridors that would allow them to arrive at their destination without stepping foot outside. As one may expect, they were equipped to practice.

One of these students towered above the other two - and, in fact, aboe pretty much every other student the triad came across. Uloe slung on his back and his hands joined behind his head, the mastodon called Brock Greenwood walked at an exceedingly leisurely pace, in this case less because he was relaxing and more due making sure to keep matching the speed of his teammates.

The trio walked into the large room, spotted a free spot where nobody was in the process of causing property damage and headed there. When they arrived, Brock slowly lowered himself onto the floor and waited for his teammates to speak. He wasn't exactly the smartest or most talkative and was well aware of these facts.

Oh come on. She didn't even implicitely threaten him with chains. If anything, he was the one who threatened... err, Theo, with chains. Oh well, at least he seemed to be closer to his usual passive-aggressive self. Lowering her head and letting her hair drift back over her face, she answered him with "You're right, Cal, verbal violence is below physical violence. What I mostly meant was that I have never seen you be convinced by anything other than brute force when pissed off."

Well, that brought that little scuffle to a close, as far as Anna was concerned. She brought her head back up, eyes closed as usual now, before turning to the still-sprawled onto the floor man. She'd ignored him for long enough and although she couldn't exactly bring herself to outright speak to him, she still approached him and extended her right hand with getting him up in mind. Hopefully he'd noticed the razor-edged links around her forearms and would only try to grab the gauntlet.

Respect, Walter.

Nathan: "I sincerely doubt this is possible."
Camelia: "Ugh."
Anna: *immediately closes tab, deletes all history, cache and cookies* "Nothing happened."
Helena: "That's... kind of flattering, I guess?"
Mark: "...How?"

Although the bestial vixen seemed to lower her guard somewhat, Camelia did no such thing, keeping the trajectory of her semblance until Rory left Justice's side to trek towards her. As her leader confirmed the end of the confrontation, she took the time to send the well several meters to the side before letting go, slumping a bit as the tension left her.

The purple color permeating the gravity well vanished much, much faster than it appeared, causing a slight pressure wave as the compressed air suddenly found itself not so compressed anymore. The loud rush of wind stopped, as well. Apart from that, the fog's water had been smushed into a large ball of water, which promptly fell to the ground with a loud splat, turning the ground underneath it into a mucky construct.

Camelia gratefully took the hand extended to her, managing a slightly tired "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a wee bit strained, really. And you're very welcome, Rory. Pretty tiring, though, I can't hold that thing for over 30 seconds." Once standing, she lowered her shield to a more relaxed position and returned it to its primary form.

RPG Discussion / Re: What Do You Find Important In A Character?

Personally, I find that the most important part of a character is how everything meshes together. This isn't overall design, but rather how every element of the overall design interacts with the others.

Anna could only sigh at Calen's retort, a small smile appearing on her lips - partially at his futile argument, partially at his closer-to-normal jab at her lack of sight. "Y'know, if I'd resorted to violence, you'd be suspended from the sealing with no Aura right now. And don't talk to me about high ground - at least I'm clear and honest about my aggression instead of threatening my targets, then plotting to get revenge."

After a brief moment of thought, she added "Besides, isn't violence the thing you use the most, be it physical or verbal?"

As events unfolded, namely Calen somehow becoming even bitchier than he just was, Anna stared at (by orienting her head towards) the aforementioned Shrike. Not only was his voice almost quite literally dripping with sarcasm and poorly concealed threats, he also had a terrific 'please hit me right now' grin. His laughter, far removed from his usual laugh when he found something to be genuinely funny, didn't aid his case.

As it were, the guy would probably try to kill everyone involved in their sleep, or at least hurt them a lot. Anna therefore started trekking directly towards the half-frozen man by walking right over the seats in the stands, entirely ignoring Setsuna and his sibling - short of a vague wave of greeting at the mention of 'ASTC'.

As she made it to the arena's floor, she called to the person trying to get out with all the subtlety they could muster "Hey new guy, don't try to run away. If you can't get through this much you won't last a single day in the dorm room.", her voice devoid of any attempt at humour as well as rid of the usual shyness due to current circumstances.

She finally arrived in front of Calen and, after brushing her hair out of her face, opened her eyes and stared right at his eyes - or where his eyes were according to her semblance, anyway. Her face only showed a thoroughly nonplussed expression, coupled with just a hint of lethal glare. Lowering her voice to try and preserve some of the boy's dignity, she said "Shrike, what the fuck is wrong with you today? Did you unlock your inner bitch or something? I'm fine with your usual levels of passive-aggressiveness, but starting about a minute or so ago you've just been going batshit crazy with it. I detonated that dagger to 1) get back at you in a non-harmful way and 2) to try and make you chip the fuck out.

Seriously, tell me what's up.
", she added with a slightest touch of worry to her voice.

Shit. What now?

First of all, get out of sight. Helena retreated behind the wall, letting the genuinely creeptastic person keep doing whatever they were doing. Where should she go?

Option 1: the city instance. From what she'd seen, it was huge and the odds of finding whoever in there were relatively low. Option 2: What looked the closest to Jackson's assumed 'normal' appearance. Cobe was there and, last time she checked, close to the door. So maybe there? Option 3: a cute cottage in a forest that made her hair stand on end so much she thought they were gonna leave the doorway by themselves. Probably not going there alone, no. Option 4: Jackson, but from eons past or something. And in pristine condition. With lots of people. Bad for her skills, so no. Were people cannibals back then? Option 5: a desert, possibly in Vacuo judging by the time of night inside. Still, outnumbered. Option 6: the closest one, with but a single man. Made her skin crawl, but not as much as 3. Probably a bad idea to go in alone.

Alrighty then, it was settled.

She started running clockwise again, heading for the pitch-black door with Cobe inside.

So things happened and what do you know, it's time for this team's 4th or 5th initiation. I lost count.

- Ismael "Izzy" Skhaos (Th3KingOfChaos
- Russell "Rusty" Omihaba (MTNew)
- Nathan Eau (nathan67003)
- [Your character's name here]

Whoever can make a genuine 4-letter word with the initials gets a bonus, possibly meaningless, to approval.

NOTE: Not everyone here is MonsterManic, so posts can be about every week or so at times, mostly from college-happy MT.

AMA Section / Re: What does your character's Semblance express?
« on: November 13, 2017, 06:30:54 PM »
Nathan: His absolute will. If he sets out to do something at all cost, nothing will be able to stop him.

Camelia: Her generic somewhat controlling behavior when placed in a leader position, I guess?

Anna: Dunno. Guess it's about how observant she is.

Brock: His complete inability to get dragged down by almost anything. He'll take it, possibly feeling hurt, then will absorb whatever knowledge he can use before getting over the emotional burden in record time.

Helena: Her unfailing desire to help everyone and everything.

Check the CSs for unlocking details, I'm drowning in homework right now and can't be bothered to do it myself.

Others, unapproved/WiP/In the works: Yeahno not yet, mkay?

After the initial scare, Anna landed back on her feet, albeit her heart was still beating way too fast. Who the hell just suddenly fires a shot like that without warning?? Into a fight they're not even involved with, too!

...Oh, and Calen was being bitchier than usual today, too. She was about to threaten him when, right before opening her mouth, she caught herself. Nah. She didn't need to threaten him. He was already done for. However, the shooter was still present, so she cranked her semblance down to second stage and turned to face the intruder, her hair still covering the entirety of her face like some orange-bronze-ish metal strands. Minus the bits being rhythmically blown away by her previous 'I-just-leapt-several-meters-in-the-air-and-threw-a-knife-out-of-sheer-panic' state.

The person - obviously feminine, judging by the voice - took aim once again and fired at Calen, this time. Aww. While she appreciated Calen being shot due to his higher-than-average annoyance levels, she was slightly bummed about how his Aura recuperated. Only slightly, though, because hehehe. Turning back towards the intruder after seeing the shot land, she was greeted by the sight of a smallish figure clad in dark blue and white, mostly. Ooh, and with a pretty face.

But the real fun thing was the vague muttering of her team leader referring to the intruder as 'Sis'. Aaaah, that was somehow funny.

After concentrating on her peripheral vision to make sure Calen was still fiddling with her dagger, Anna put her experienced (slightly beaten) scroll in her left pocket, as usual, utilizing the brief moment of proximity to trigger the detonator for her armed daggers.

Camelia had just been able to concentrate on something other than her semblance when what felt like several Ursas hit her in the back of the head, which snapped forward alongside her entire body, despite her solid stance. Hell, any harder and she would've probably been sent flying.

As of now, though, she was still conscious and concentrating on her semblance, although the rush of wind briefly abated when the hit landed. Staying on the ground, she turned to face behind herself, only to find her teammates in the midst of what appeared to be some sort of Vacuan standoff with a tall, arguably domineering woman aiming a spear at Rory's face. Welp, so much for the shield, unless she was willing to have everyone but herself struck by pseudo-lightning.

She did, however, start slowly lowering the gravity well above their heads, the rush of air growing stronger as it did so. She could almost start to feel her weight vanish.
