She allowed herself a few seconds to catch her breath while hanging from her treetop vantage point. After a few failed attempts to look through the trees to see if there were any grimm or students nearby, she started to climb and drop her way down the tree trunk.

Once her feat finally made contact with solid ground she once again scoured the immediate area. As some of the adrenaline from the fall started to leave her system she started to calm down, still very nervous but not falling to your death nervous. Confident that there were no grimm about to jump her she pulled the bolt of her rifle back and loaded an ice crystal before starting to make her way into the woods.

Desperately hoping to find someone to partner up with quickly she focused on listening for sounds of combat, but there was only the occasional sound from off in the distance and each originating from different directions, nothing she could realistically follow. She could bearly make out the cliffs through the tree canopy, she had been towards the end of the launch pads so logically most people should be to her right as she stood on the cliff. Admittedly that logic could be deeply flawed by any number of variables, but it was better than nothing. After a few minutes of sneaking through the undergrowth she could hear something approaching her, gripping her weapon firmly she began to approach as well.

Standing on the cliffside and looking down it seemed quite clear that landing strategies would be tested today. In preparation, she pulled back the bolt of the heavy barrel of her rifle and chambered a large gravity dust crystal. She had done a fair amount of reading about Beacon before deciding to try becoming a huntress again after her rough start at Atlas, so when the tall figure of headmaster Inverno approached she recognized him immediately. While listening to his speech she pulled the bolt of her rifle back, just to double-check that the right crystal was loaded.

She was a bit surprised that Beacon seemed to be setting up pairs of two rather than teams of four as they did at Atlas. She looked around at the other students, it was the first time she had really considered any of them as she had been far too nervous to force herself into any real social interaction today. She pulled the bolt of her rifle back, just to dou.. triple-check.

She was jolted back to her senses as the first student was launched into the air, and as the headmaster approached she tried to meet his gaze but chickened out after a fraction of a second. As she was launched through the air she tried to keep track of where the other students were landing, as she really wanted to find someone to pair with quickly. However it was too difficult to track and she needed to prepare for her landing, her hand went towards the bolt again, but this time she stopped herself.

Whilst the lower barrel of her rifle could impart some momentum it was nothing compared to the top one, and she only had one shot there so she tried to stay calm and waited. Just as she was starting to approach the tree canopy she aimed in the direction she was falling and fired. The intention was to kill any horizontal and most of her vertical momentum but she was slightly off vector. Without enough time to think clearly, she let the rifle section of her weapon spin to the opposite side of the blade and shot with the lower barrel, imparting enough momentum to dig the blade into the trunk of a tree. She let out a frustrated sigh while looking down the tall tree she had to descend, but at least she had more or less landed.

As the students had been lined up at the edge of the Beacon cliffs a tall and well-built figure approached the podium, Alban Inverno, the headmaster of Beacon. While he did not introduce himself the sense of authority emanating from his movements was enough to inform those who did not recognize him.

“Adaptation” he let the word hang in the air as silence fell on the students “is perhaps the most fundamental quality of those who survive in our profession. It is a trait that is rarely tested through education, whether at school or at home, and one you can no longer afford to be ignorant of." He spoke in a calm, dispassionate tone. "When you land in the forest, the first person you make eye contact with will be your partner for your time at Beacon. They will be your partner until you graduate, drop out, or die. We will not entertain any requests to alter partners. So, adapt.”

He gestured at the forest before continuing “Below us is the Emerald forest, for your initiation each pair is required to venture into the ruins within it, claim a jade relic and return to the cliff. There will be opposition along the way, and you will have to fight for your survival. We are monitoring you, but our instructors will not be in a position to intervene. Remember that huntsmen and huntresses are not simple exterminators of Grimm but protectors of the people, today you will only be protected by your peers.“

A slight tone of excitement could be heard in his voice as he concluded with “Prepare yourselves.”

Slowly the professor studied each student individually, some were focused on the forest, others meet his eyes, and just as his gaze moved to the next student the previous one was launched into the air.

Opening the recruitment for more people now that the threads all seem to be going well.

Rather than waiting to try to make multiple teams the plan is just to make a team of the first four that sign up.

Instinctually she dropped to one knee and raised her weapon towards the apparition, but quickly lowered it once she realized that this was another student. "That.. was quite the.. introduction" she raised herself but even standing her head barely met the others should height "I'm Diana, and yeah I guess we are partners now".

Name: Lavender du Lac

Age: 18 years old

Species and Gender: Human Female

Symbol:

Occupation: Student at Haven Academy 1st Year

Appearance:

Standing at a height of 5'8 Lavender is a rather fit individual with toned muscles around a slim athletic build honed from her training and time at combat academies and, of course, personal training and exercise as well. She carries herself with a rather relaxed yet straight posture showing no signs of rigidness with a hint of finesse and femininity, her posture rarely slouching and her form always proper in combat. With hair falling just by her neck Lavender’s rather unruly cut suggests a tomboyish look and adding to the unrefined look are streaks of violet across her dark hair bordering nearer to the right side of her head. Her eyes are basically what she was named after, Lavender or rather the color of lavenders, the flowers having bloomed in the garden of her family during the time of her birth. Right below the left corner of her left eye is a small mole barely visible at times because of her long hair.

Possessing a fit yet feminine figure Lavender’s combat attire isn't bulky despite several pieces of armor and allows fluid movement with little to no restrictions on her part, of course this means that she won’t have nearly as much protection as a plate armored individual but aura takes care of most hits as for most fighters. Along her arms and legs Lavender’s armor covers mainly her her forearms and hands with layered slightly with 2 plates along the thickest parts and sharpened around the edges for cutting power lest she be disarmed. Similarly to her bracers her boots are layered with sharpened plates but end abruptly at her shin, her knees being exposed with only a her leggings there to protect from slight scratches. Lavender’s torso is covered by a thin flexible piece of dark Kevlar lined with violet patterns fashioned with straps connecting to a choker on her neck, several metal linings across her curves and sides, and straps and zippers in key places for easy removal and donning. Around her waist, Lavender has a partially rounded skirt, most of it hanging off her left side covering black shorts that fit snugly on her while attached with a leather belt with several pouches for various equipment.

History:
Early years

Born in Vale to Azur du Lac and Lilac du Lac, local residents with ties to the commercial districts in Vale, Lavender grew up with two highly business oriented parents who seemed to always be trying to balance work and family together. During her early years as a child Lavender often found her parents fighting over problems such as financial gain stemming from her father’s occupation as a ship captain and her mother’s business as a product distributor. Being dependent on trade the amount of goods and their relative prices and demands all depended on the ability of the Captain of the ship to bring them during key times. Azur most of the time being pressured by his wife and superiors spent many long hours on his vessel to be able to successfully bring in products from all four continents to coincide with market demands.

Relationship with her Father

Lavender’s father was rarely home to be with her but she cherished the few moments they spent together. Azur was a former Huntsman turned ship captain, being proficient with a blade and spear while defending against sea grimm had its advantages and his strong will kept people together during rough times at sea. During the times he was with her they often played by the docks, jumping into the cold water, swimming with each other, and eventually learning even water skiing when he got a small enough jet ski for her birthday, oddly enough she enjoyed being pulled around rather than driving the damned thing but she kept the keys all the same. A small anchor key chain hung from it and reminded her of her father every time she looked at it. Lavender was a natural with water, she was graceful yet steady, and also fluid yet unyielding when skiing and swimming, her father being proud of her for learning something at least somewhat associated with his own job. During times when the docks were too busy or it was too stormy to swim and water ski, her father would teach Lavender a thing or two about swordplay and spear fighting using small wooden planks and fishing rods, then going into more formal training after she got a bit older. Little did Lavender know her mother had been having quarrels with her father for not being around all the time while her father was also arguing with her for not understanding him better and also for giving up on her previous jobs, one of them being the reason why he fell in love with her. Not knowing why they were fighting the young Lavender would just start crying and temporarily end the fights, the distance between the parents growing further every time.

Relationship with her Mother

While Lavender’s father weaned on water her mother trained her in dance. Lilac du Lac was a former Huntress turned Dancer when her arms were injured in the field and unable to properly use her weapons effectively in combat anymore. Despite not losing her limbs Lilac picked a different path and turned her whip style of fighting into a form of dance with ribbons. Wanting her little girl to also learn it she began teaching Lavender the ways of ribbon dancing and even bits of whip training which she picked up after many sessions of practice. Lavender was trained strictly by her ex-huntress mother but was cared for way more than she wanted to since her mother never seemed to never join Lavender and her father in the docks. Having her aura unlocked by her mother, Lavender was given semi-formal combat training as well for self-defense.

Attempting Closure

As Lavender grew older, now a student at Sanctum Academy, the distance between her parents seemed to be getting larger, sometimes her mom wouldn’t even meet with her father anymore and her father not even leaving the docks. The only times they did meet was for business purposes and they never seemed to smile at each other when Lavender pretended to not be looking. Wanting to try and bring them closer together Lavender called both of them to the docks to show them a combination of what they taught her, incorporating ribbon dancing with high speed skiing, using the reigns as her ribbons and a friend as a driver she begun water dancing even before they got to their seats. Her performance was breathtaking, every movement an inch from falling, every ribbon whip just an inch away from reaching its mark back to the ski’s locks. Just as she was about to reach the finale of her performance however, she missed a single reign due to an unexpected ship whirling a small eddy nearby and crashed into the water at high speed knocking her unconscious.

When she came to she woke up to her parents arguing once more about what they taught her and finally saw her mother taking off her wedding ring and throwing it in the trash, her father storming out of the hospital after giving an apologetic look at his daughter. Pretending to be asleep, Lavender couldn’t help but tear up as her mother cried into her bedside all the while grasping her hand while she grasped the keychain, which seemed to have been placed in her hand just a moment before.

Sanctum

Sanctum was fun enough for Lavender yet she only had few friends due to her rather selective nature. Having a few close friends was better for her than having everyone in class like you only a little. Due to conflicts between her parents she would often be sulking around, ignoring her peers at times and not noticing the distance being built between them. Combat training went smoothly with her due to training from two former huntsmen but she never seemed to be fully inclined to using one weapon style over another, usually leading to confusion between herself and her teachers. After styling a proper weapon for herself, combining her whip training as well as her spear and sword training, Lavender felt more at ease yet a bit more sorrowful due to the fact that her weapon seemed to be complete yet her family would never be.

Lavender’s friends hung out with her during the times she wasn’t with her parents and they had their own problems all of which seemed insignificant compared to her own. Her peers consisted of one girl, Cyan Glas, whom she was best buds with who also liked dancing, and a boy, Green Reed,  who was seemingly going out with Cyan yet was a fellow water ski enthusiast like Lavender. They got along really well due to their interests yet Green and Cyan seemed to be having conflicts due to his hanging out with Lavender more times than with his actual girlfriend.

Eventually Lavender couldn’t help but start liking Green as well due to the times they hung out together but she kept it a secret from the both of them. Not wanting to cause a strain on their friendships she started avoiding Green more and more while Cyan begun suspecting something between them due to his plummeting mood. Confronting her about it Lavender vehemently denied liking him and Cyan apologized for being so suspicious.

After Lavender’s accident at the docks, Green begun visiting her every day in the hospital with Cyan while chatting with her long after Cyan left due to her additional lessons. They got closer and started hanging out more together alone without Cyan during their final year in Sanctum, while Cyan begun getting more and more depressed and moody about the situation. Cyan wanted to break up with Green so that her other two friends would be happy but Green told her he didn’t actually like Lavender more than a friend. Cyan then told him about how Lavender liked him and this caused even more tension between the three as they felt even more constrained due to their emotional ties to one another. Lavender tried one last ditch effort at bringing them back together, planning a surprise party only to be confessed to by green saying that since they were going their separate ways they might as well get everything between them sorted out. Lavender rejected him but Cyan felt betrayed by both of them because none of them accepted her choices and Green felt devastated after losing his closest friends to romantic problems. Lavender broke off contact with both of them, Green having gone to Beacon, Cyan having gone to Atlas, and decided to start anew at Haven, hopefully making new friends and finally keeping them together for once in her life.
Personality:

Lavender is proud, unyielding, and loyal to a fault to those she trusts and vindictive to her enemies. Though not a perfect knight of legend she embodies many characteristics of a person whose creed defines their way of life and would often act according to them with unwavering tenacity. When it comes to interpersonal relationships Lavender would never let a rumor change how she views a person until she sees it for herself; Once something is confirmed to her, however, she would undoubtedly keep that image till she sees something that proves otherwise. She isn’t fond of playing dirty and would almost never resort to underhanded tactics, be it for battle or relationship. She also despises people who constantly resort to cheating or backstabbing techniques rather than those who would outright speak their mind.

Being a polite individual, Lavender would not feel shy when it comes to matters she’s familiar with and is actually rather confident of her own abilities. She’d prefer to settle things in a civil manner than going fists flying if ever involved in arguments and would always greet people with a smile. When it comes to intelligence Lavender proudly boasts being good with academics but her interpersonal skills lack refinement, sometimes missing the point if once she's sure of something unless promptly corrected.

Lavender’s teammates/friends are people she’ll trust her life with and in turn risk her own for their sakes, be it a horde of grimm or even other huntsmen. Keeping her friends close to one another as well as herself has always been a trait of hers. If there are arguments, shortcomings, misunderstandings and the like she’ll try and find a way to fix it, however sometimes she becomes too pushy and forceful or her methods may not fit the mood or situation leading to even worse bonds than before. However, despite her confidence in herself and her tendency to keep others together her experiences garnered her to be less than open about what she’s truly feeling to those around her.

Lavender’s all good personality isn’t without flaw however. More often than not, given enough motivation she would be blinded by her emotions and would fail to see proper reason once her mind is made up. Unyielding and loyal yet dangerous when her ideals are manipulated in the wrong directions or in other ways if her passions go awry.

Aura and Semblance:
Lavender’s aura glows a light purple hue and glows around herself when she’s using her semblance. Lavender’s semblance is intermolecular bond strengthening and reinforcing. Using her semblance Lavender can make substances, such as water, walkable by forcing the intermolecular bonds between the molecules to strengthen and increase water tension. However after a while the energy used to strengthen the bonds of the substance would release in an either explosive or trickling fashion depending on how much stronger than usual the bonds are. For instance, water. To increase the bonds to a point where water would become walkable and able to support an adult one would need to create a surface tension thousands of times stronger than normal, then again water tension is pretty weak and would require mostly pure water without too many solutes because these can affect the surface tension. Suffice to say it’ll take enough energy to counter the effects due to external forces such as gravity to reinforce the water or whatever substance she’s manipulating to such a degree and after a short period of time, eventually the energy used would be released in the form of mechanical energy or heat. Using this property of her semblance Lavender is able to propel herself over short distances quickly by increasing the bonds of the substances under her feet and instantly releasing that energy as if shot forward by a spring, however the amount of strengthening and energy used depends on the substance.

Since solids are pretty much well built and their bonds are, well... solid, they can’t be manipulated to such a degree as fluids and gasses and the strengthening and energy added wouldn’t be too significant and rather a waste of time and energy. Fluids are what Lavender is most proficient at controlling. Substances such as water wherein the molecules are not too far apart yet still have plenty of space between them allow for Lavender to power-up those bonds and sometimes compress the fluid to a degree. By increasing the fluid’s bonds she can do stuff ranging from simple prevention of boiling and freezing and whatnot to full out creating resistant walls of standing fluid for a short amount of time before it releases its pent up energy and explodes into its base components or even a more gaseous state such as steam. By manipulating small amounts of fluid, Lavender can propel herself by releasing the energy just as she starts sprinting and continuing it every step of the way. By complimenting her semblance with her weapon Lavender can propel the blade as if shot forward by some other mechanism for stronger blows and manipulate the whip form more finely.

(Note: Sand, being solid despite its fluid shifty nature is still solid and the bonds between them are pretty much super far apart in molecular distances and cannot be considered a true fluid such as liquids. Therefore not that useful for her semblance.)

Gasses being volatile and constantly moving are harder to manipulate than liquids. The less pure the gas the harder it is to manipulate. Normal air for example could be manipulated and have its bonds strengthened and whatnot but due to the constantly moving particles the energy used is dispersed almost unevenly and can be only be used for simple stuff such as making the air feel a bit thicker though not much of a hindrance save for air friction when falling, and maybe distracting enemies by small air pocket explosions that make loud sounds but cause almost no damage. If a pure substance however is used, such as steam, Lavender can manipulate it somewhat more finely and create mists to disorient her enemies and even condense the steam to the point where it’ll precipitate back into water only to explode back into steam a moment later. Unlike normal water steam is at an extremely high energy state meaning that to reinstate any bonds between the molecules would require a massive amount of energy compared to normal liquids, practically four times as much meaning that manipulating steam itself would be highly unlikely for Lav due to its impracticality, though still possible albeit taxing energy costs.

Water being plentiful and the substance Lavender is most attuned to using, is constantly added to her arsenal in the form of dust. By mixing fire and ice she is able to create water on the fly in all forms, though ice isn’t that useful for her semblance save for blowing it up. With her skill with water Lavender uses it to propel herself across the battlefield and even water skim across the surface using her shield for the smoothest mode of transportation. She is able to do stuff such as creating steam into water and then into ice but the amount of energy required to do that is rather large for such a cheap trick and would rather use ice dust itself than waste her own energy on it most of the time. Spraying the water on the enemy allows for Lavender to blow it up and cause minor damage if the enemy is wet depending on how soaked they are, steam(Way over boiling point. Little reminder) being able to cause burns on non-aura protected opponents. Creating steam from normal water requires Lavender to overload the bonds to the point where they'd break upon release and also requires more energy than normal. To prevent wasteful energy/stamina consumption she uses small scale and highly precise 'explosions' if she wanted more force to whatever it is she's doing or simply to get steam for some reason or another.

Lavender’s semblance has an effective range of 10 meters and any further than that and she’ll need to concentrate even more than usual and even lose efficiency as a result. Suffice to say the closer the substance to be manipulated the easier it is.

A slight trick she can also do is delay certain exothermic chemical reactions by keeping the bonds in place for a while but of course, adding energy to the explosion though probably negligible compared to the actual thing. Useful for throwing back grenades or keeping a bomb from exploding for a short while, that is if the substance is not activated by pure chemical reactions and more of stress related reactions such as volatile dust crystals.

Lavender can keep using her semblance for long periods of time should she just use it for simple stuff such as walking on water but stuff like bursting across on her shield has a more taxing effect on her stamina if prolonged for longer periods of time. When using it in conjunction with her weapon usually she requires takes breaks in between massive taxing uses especially when manipulating non liquids such as steam. To prevent over exertion she's generally not overdependent on it and would only use her semblance if required.
Combat Behavior:

Lavender is an upfront fighter, preferring to face things head on as vanguard while keeping enemies pressured with swift charges and wide sweeping attacks with her weapon’s range and power. Disliking fighting from a distance Lavender often charges in the fray using her semblance to burst her way through groups while picking either hit and run tactics or direct confrontation. Having an extremely form flexible weapon, she would change its form either slightly or wholly mid battle to keep the enemy on their feet and disorient their sense of range and/or reaction time.

A polearm with a large blade of a spearhead, or rather a glaive at this point, made of interconnecting blade segments of varying sizes the widest being closest to the shaft whilst getting smaller as it reaches the point. The edges of the spearhead segments are visibly jutting out to rip into flesh with their sears or hook onto edges or objects that get caught onto them, they can however slide back in and form a smoother blade for smoother slashing. The shaft by itself is collapsible and at full length can reach 2 meters long(6.7 feet or something)and can shorten to about a foot in length in its sword form.

Secondary Form:Greatsword

The initial transformation of the weapon is that of a great sword. The interconnecting blades of the glaive head would separate while being connected by an inner mechanism of non-metallic wires, along the lines of carbon based graphene, and part of the spear shaft as it slides down its length. The earlier jutting out edges of the weapon connect to the other segments of the blade by  showing visible gaps in the sword’s inner structure. Despite the lack of solidarity unlike a solid blade it’ll allow for a much lighter weapon despite its large size making it easily wield-able even with one hand. The blades can shorten their distance and compact even more depending on what the user wants to disorient the enemy with its various weapon lengths. Another function the weapon has is that of releasing water through the gaps along the shaft and blade length. By using her semblance along with her weapon Lavender would be able to manipulate the length not just by mechanical means such as handle switches but also by using her semblance to compress the water or manipulate the composition so that it’ll expand or contract easily, with fail safes to lock in once the energy from using her semblance releases. The water can also be used to release bursts at the enemy or surroundings in the form of steam or plain water, propelling the blade in place of gunpowder or other more explosive forms of dust.

Tertiary Form:

The third and final transformation of the weapon is that of a bladed whip. In short it’s a snake sword/glaive that shoots water. Springing out of its compact form the blades would extend several meters to lash out or grasp onto objects, the subtle whip mechanism being manipulated by both arm movements and semblance assistance by the water(or oil, depending on the situation but only one substance can be used at a time) and Lavender’s semblance. Each blade is connected by the wires as well as parts of the shaft broken into several pieces. Along the wires and shaft are small tubes that hold fluid released by water dust or injected oil. Small release areas along the length of the weapon allow for fluid ejection and each segment having a separate set of tubes just in case some are damaged so that not all the fluid is leaked. By compacting the weapon again, the tubes can interconnect once more and refill through a single common source to eliminate the need of refilling each individual compartment.

Dust Functions:

Lavender’s weapon primarily uses ice and fire dust in the form of water. In conjunction with her semblance she can manipulate the water to a degree to aid her weapon movements and transformations as well as performance.

Name: Lilac Tarasque

Primary Form: Kiteshield

A large shield with intricate decors similar to that of Lavender’s armor. Along the front of the shield, aside from decorations and armor, are more fluid ejection holes for the release of water or other substances. Behind the shield canisters for water dust combinations line the sides of the shield and can be replaced at a moment’s notice. Other dust types can be used but not all are compatible, mostly just ejection related ones. Fire and water primarily since non fluid or gaseous forms might clog up the ejection mechanisms. Along the back of the shield, aside from arm straps are additional straps that connect to Lavender’s boots. Yes, boots. The shield can be used as a water skii, propelled by ejected water or by Lavender’s semblance and needs just some fluid in front and beneath it to slide flawlessly if thickened by Lavender’s semblance. The shield can collapse into a shorter form if it happens to seem to unwieldy for some situations resembling that of a heater shield instead of a kite shield.

Dust Functions:

Like her main weapon, the shield can eject water in either liquid for mor steam using fire and ice dust combinations.

History: Taking both her parent's teachings to heart Lavender created a combination of their weapons back in Sanctum as well as a shield/water board due to her passion for water skiing

CHARACTER

Name: Tina Allan

Age: 17, 2nd of Amare

Species and Gender: Human Female

Occupation: First Year Beacon Academy Student, Semi-pro gamer

Appearance: Standing at the height of 5'1", Tina Allan sports long, brown hair, normally tied up in a ponytail with a pin with her symbol on it, platinum-coloured irises, a small nose and mouth, slightly tanned skin and a slim, fit body. She tries hard to play off the "average teenage girl" look but never quite gets there. Probably because she's too short.

Apart from the school uniform, which Tina doesn't wear all that often, her fashion sense is a cross between girly and tomboyish clothing which she likes to wear. Her favourite outfit includes, but is not limited to, a silver sleeveless T-shirt, embroidered with her symbol on her left shoulder, with a modified, lower neckline and a tank top which she wears over said T-shirt. Alternatively, if she's feeling lazy, a simple, cute, silver blouse fits the bill. She also wears smooth blue jeans, which is swapped for a black and silver "combat skirt" when she fights. She dislikes high heels, preferring sneakers and even sandals before resorting to wearing them. Paired with her attire on missions are two criss-crossing leather belts, to which she has 2 holsters attached.

Lastly, for her gun-toting needs, she has a small bag that clips onto any belt, which she uses to store her ammunition. These normally come prepacked in the form of 12-round speedloaders, with one distinct type exception, which is stored isolated from both the other rounds and separate from their same type as well. That separate compartment is specially insulated to keep a constant temperature within that area to prevent any premature activation of the rounds within.

History:
To describe Tina Allan’s life as “normal” is like saying the Vytal Festival isn’t important in the slightest. In truth, her life’s meaning has taken multiple advances in the other direction at each life-changing event, and it shows no signs of stopping.

It all originated from her father. Her father, a Huntsman graduate from Beacon and a ardent fan of the up-and-rising popularity of video games, which didn’t exist when he was a kid. With the income he gained from completing missions, he bought himself a complete gaming setup, and spent most of his spare time sitting in front of the screen, tapping away at the keyboard. With all the curiosity of a 10-year old, Tina watched and listened, intrigued and enchanted by the marvels to technology and the joy it brought her father.

Knowing this, it wasn’t long before she tried her hand at it as well, triggering her first life-changing event. Unexpectedly, she was a natural at games of the FPS genre, easily getting hooked straight into the virtual world of gaming and being addicted, spending as much time as she could on the ranked ladder and rising rapidly. She and her father spent many a night laughing and shouting as they faced off against each other, battle after memorable battle. It took little time for Tina to surpass her father in skill level, despite their age differences, which she took glee in pointing out at every opportunity.

After having spent most of the ranked season in the top 50 in her region, Tina received an invitation to join a competitive gaming team, despite both her age and her gender. This was the second turning point in her life. They’d noticed her achievements, they explained, and would like to enlist her skills. While Tina was happy that her skills were noticed, her parents had other ideas. Like all good parents, they’d decided that she should focus more on the future, and thus meant moving away from video games. Even her father, her influence, was adamant on this, so Tina reluctantly agreed. She did, however, keep the invitation on hold, promising to get back to them some day.

Her third event came immediately after. Her father took on a mission to protect a small village and to do his duty as a Huntsman of Vale. He promised to be back in about a week or so. This was all routine to Tina, who had seen her father bring back the spoils of victory time and time again, and gave it little thought. What should have been a simple week rapidly turned on it’s head as there was no sound nor signal from him, even after one slow, agonising month for Tina and her mother. They waited. And waited, and waited. Slowly losing hope day by day. Even her source of joy, her games, were of little consolation, facing the truth that she’d lost her father.

It was during their mourning period that Tina’s life got flipped upside down once again. They’d received flowers and cards from well-wishers, friends that knew her father and wanted to pay their respects. Along those came an oddly large package. Or, that’s what it looked like. When they opened the package, their initial impressions were one of confusion—which rapidly got replaced with tears in their eyes at the sight of a letter, distinct in Tina’s father’s handwriting.

My beloved Tina and Christine:
Firstly, I sincerely apologise for the stress I must have put you through. It was never my intention to leave for more than a week, but now complicated matters have arisen, and I must needs tend to them. This will most likely be the only communication I will be allowed for a long while, so if you don’t hear from me there is no cause for concern. I simply need to fade off the radar for a while, and I’m sorry that this had to happen. But, do please rest assured that one day, I will see the both of you again, I just don’t know when. In the meanwhile, here’s a little consolation for my dear Tina. Hope you like it.
Love, Dad

Upon further inspection, the “consolation” looked to them like blueprints for a pair of revolvers. Perhaps her father wanted her to follow in his footsteps one stage further and become a Hunter alongside him. In any case, Tina discussed this with her mother, who agreed, if only to find her husband quicker. But to do this, she needed Lien…and what better way to earn it by accepting that invitation?

Several training sessions and one competitive tournament victory later, Tina had the Lien she needed to buy the materials and hire a blacksmith to build the weapons specified in the blueprints she now owned. Surprisingly the weapons fit her hands near immaculately, a nod from her father no doubt. One obstacle down, another to go: she had absolutely zero experience at handling any weapon, let alone firearms; to counteract this, she enlisted in the nearest firing range, where the owner, a retired Huntsman, unlocked her Aura for her to begin training. Her quick reflexes and steady hand, honed from her hours of practicing, translated to the guns she was holding; she caught on much faster than others her age, using them well but not spectacularly. With the owner’s go-ahead and her mother’s blessings, she enrolled in Beacon Academy to become a Huntress, find her father, and experience once more the joys of gaming together.

Tina is a girl that grew up watching her father, a Huntsman, play videogames. She soon joined him, specialising in the FPS genre. Her skills led her to be scouted by a professional gaming team, but initially she turned them down. Later, her father went off to carry out a protection mission for a village but never returned. During mourning, Tina got a package from her assumed-dead father, with blueprints for twin revolvers. To get the Lien to build it, she joined the gaming team, participated in competitions, won, and built the weapons with the prize money. She also went to a shooting range to learn how to use them. Now she enters Beacon to become a Huntress and find her father.
Personality: It's not a common sight for a girl to be one of the high-ranking FPS gamers in her region, and doubly so for her to also take on the role of a Huntress. Tina finds joy in one, new experiences in the other, and both represent her way of life; gaming and being a Huntress. Her biggest influencing factor has also turned out to be her biggest weakness; all that online time logged has left much to be desired on the more social side of life. That's not to say she's addicted, by any means--it's a way for her to earn some of that much-needed Lien in order to keep her weapons fixed. And the occasional in-game purchase.

Depending on where you make acquaintances with Tina, your initial impressions will vary as differently as night and day. While communicating online, Tina comes off as highly confident and knowledgable, but also friendly to members of the communities she is part of. A habit she has developed when talking online is frequently using online chat slang--short form words, just like most others who frequent the web. She is easily approachable and is prone to striking up fast-paced conversations.

If you first met Tina online then proceeded to bump into her in the streets, chances are you would definitely not associate the chatty, friendly person with the small girl in front of you. Tina's online facade quickly fades away to reveal her real personality: shy, timid, nervous and overall as unsure as a person can ever be. If she happens to talk to someone she doesn't know (normally you'd have to force her to), she'd tend to stammer frequently, and would easily be flustered even by simple wordplay, complete with adorable blushing and temporary loss of speech. This is even more evident when talking to boys, and she is quite often teased for it. Rinse and repeat.

When you get her to loosen up after a very long while, break down her outer shell and coerce her to relax, she shows more signs of her online persona, being a avid fan of all video games in general and particularly skilled in the FPS genre. The problem is getting there--getting through to her is a task in of itself, thanks to her general uncertainty.  Being a naturally sweet girl at heart makes her quite likeable to those who spend the time getting to know her for who she is, but this in itself is quite the feat.

Aura and Semblance: Aura Color -- Platinum/#e5e4e2

Tina has something of a sixth sense, whereas she can sense other Aura users--that is to say, any person within a 10-meter radius in any direction with their aura unlocked. She only knows the number of users present, and only their general direction.

Semblance: Seismic Sense -- Allows Tina to send a shockwave of Aura through her right leg and into the ground, where it travels through the ground, resonating against any grounded object and bringing the exact location back to Tina. (Think echolocation but in the ground.) This shockwave can go up to 20 meters in any direction, passing through walls and solid objects, and detects any object currently on the floor. She can also tell what the object is based on how large the print is on the floor. For example, she can differentiate between a Beowolf, Ursa, and King Taijitu, because a Beowolf stands on 2 legs, Ursa walk on 4, and King Taijitu slide, which is what Tina sees.

Seismic Sense cannot detect anything in the air, no matter how close they are to the ground. Tina can further focus her mind and extend this range to 30 meters. However, this requires her to concentrate (close her eyes and stand still). She cannot use Seismic Sense if her right leg is suspended in the air. Tina can use Seismic Sense once every 15 seconds without any trouble, and has developed the habit of pulsing it all the time. However, if there are a lot of objects, or several large objects in the radius of her Semblance when she uses it, she experiences varying levels of headaches depending on how many objects she detects, the most severe ending in her literally screaming from the feedback.

Combat Behavior: With her love of video games, it's no surprise Tina takes fighting as a sort of game as well, only...with the knowledge that there is no "respawn" button available. With that in mind, she keeps her distance from her enemies, preferably pinning them to certain locations with her slow-firing, but precise revolvers. Specialising in mid-to-long range combat as a gunslinger "class", she is also fairly mobile and is capable of shooting accurately while on the move.

Tina has an excellent sense of map awareness honed from her hours of gaming, and can usually notice when enemies aren't where they should be, or suspiciously off the radar for extended periods of time. This makes her somewhat hard to sneak up upon, though on the off chance that they do, there isn't much she can do about it, apart from retreating to the cover of her allies. Alongside this, she knows full well the importance of communication on a battlefield, and relays any information she gains to her allies frequently. With the aid of her Semblance, she basically has a "minimap" of where everyone is at certain intervals--just like a sweeping radar.

In terms of close-combat, however, Tina has invested all her "points" into ranged fighting, leaving her weak in melee--just like about every other ranged fighter out there, really. Unlike them, however, Tina does have her twin swords for "intimidation" factor, but lacks the experience to back it up. If forced to engage up close, she prefers to only use one at a time, and if disarmed is a sitting duck. Tina knows this weakness, and does her best to not make it obvious.

Operating equally well both in and out of a team, Tina is most deadly when others play by her rules and give her space to work with, allowing her to rain lead and Dust on her opponents. Pressuring her, not allowing her time to focus on her target, or waiting for her to reload before moving in are effective ways to counter and shut down her suppressive fire, and once within melee range her options are incredibly limited. However, that's only if they manage to pull the feat off: having what basically amounts to a constantly-updating map turns a simple task into a challenge that only those trained in stealth can exploit.

WEAPONS

Names: Sunrise / Nightfall

Revolver Mode: Sunrise and Nightfall are Tina's pair of custom-built revolvers, the former white-gold and the latter dark purple, something which wouldn't look out of place in the video games she constantly plays. Unlike most standard revolvers, however, the pair each carry a total of 12 rounds in their snap-open revolving chamber, and look something like ceremonial gilded weapons instead of anything used in front-line combat. Her symbol is printed on the barrel of both revolvers.

In addition to standard ammo that can be purchased in any weapon store, Tina packs several types of Dust/altered ammunition ranging from your typical Fire Dust rounds to some...higher-impact stuff that is comparable to a grenade. This doesn't come cheap, however, nor is it too safe to carry around--so she normally doesn't carry more than 4 of said rounds with her on missions, unless the situation calls for widespread termination. Only if it's a life-or-death situation does she even load 2 or more High-Ex. rounds in the same chamber.
Gladius Mode (Sunrise): In Sunrise's sword form, the handle rotates to the back of the revolving chamber, while the pommel straightens up and forms a sword handle, with the chamber as the base of the blade. The two eagles slide down the barrel and line up with the chamber, while the eagle wings lift up and form the edgeguard of the blade. Along the gilded barrel, edges of tempered steel protrude from where the wings retracted from, extending to around 4 cm outwards, creating a short gladius sword. There is no tip to the blade.

Rapier Mode (Nightfall): Nightfall starts its transformation by moving the handle and pommel to the back of the chamber. However, after sliding the eagles down the barrel to the chamber, the eagles split into 2, rotating around the chamber to form prongs similar to Myrtenaster. From the barrel, a long, sharp rod of tempered steel extends, forming a rapier around 4/5ths the length of Myrtenaster.

Dust Functions: In their ranged form, both revolvers take Dust cartridges of varied types. Their melee forms omit this function.
Fire Dust: Bullets ignite upon leaving the barrel. Upon impact, leaves a small area the size of a fist in flame.

Ice Dust: Bullets create small ice shards on contact, that either further shatter into fragments, acting as miniature frag bullets, or freeze a small area upon contact. Area is the size of a human palm. Leaves a thin trail of very opaque mist which doubles as tracer rounds.

Electric Dust: Bullets are electrically charged upon leaving the barrel. Apart from shocking the point of impact, inflicts small amounts of paralysis in that area which stack up gradually. Alternatively, capable of frying electronic systems (assuming the bullet itself didn't break anything).

Kinetic Dust: Bullets are affected less by wind resistance and gravitational pull, making them travel faster, have higher piercing power, and a longer dropoff range. A small wind cone is visible when travelling toward any target.

Gravity Dust: Bullets create a small gravity well upon impact, pulling objects toward the point of impact slightly. At full power, can only slightly tug a Beowolf. Used to pull enemies and stuff off balance.

High-Ex. Rounds: The BIG one. The rounds are what basically amounts to dynamite being compressed into the shape of a bullet, then covered with a thin layer of metal. The hammer triggers the "fuse", and impact with any surface creates a large and loud explosion, carrying with it chaos and confusion. Alternatively, the round explodes around 3 seconds after leaving the barrel. Due to what's within, the range of the High-Ex rounds is lesser than her other variants.
History: Hailing from unknown origins, the designs for the revolvers were sent to Tina from her father from an unknown location, paid for with prize money from her victory within the video game tournament, and constructed with the help of a blacksmith. Repairs are often necessary due to the complex transformation gimmick, and with Tina's lack of knowledge this results in frequent trips to the smithy.
