Introductions, birthdays, and departures. / My Apologies, but Goodbye
« on: June 20, 2018, 09:20:10 PM »
I'm making today my last time logging into this site. I already left the Discord server a little while ago thinking I was gonna make this post then, but honestly I haven't even worked up the motivation to do this until now. I simply don't have nearly as much interest in forum rp or the RWBY universe as I used to, and I'm starting to go weeks if not a month between forced posts. Seeing as I recently had someone removed from another hobby group for doing the same thing I'm doing now, I think it's about time I practice what I preach and just leave. I'm sorry to anyone this inconveniences.

The blast from Gray's arrow cleanly slew the beowolf it hit directly and left the others dazed, unable to finish their assault. While Graham was easily able to slaughter the Grimm he targeted, this didn't even serve as a warning for the rest of the pack, too savage to show any fear. The ruins of Mountain Glenn were infested, and for every target the team destroyed, two more would take their place. "The more time you waste, the more danger you invite! Finish whatever targets pose a threat and find a way forward!" Crystal shouted instructions to her students as if to challenge Leona's leadership, forcing her to step up.

As Lissa's wild twirl started to lose momentum, she quickly hooked her blades together and deactivated her semblance, rooting herself in place while spinning the giant double scythe in defense. "This way!" She yelled, wondering if Graham could even hear her with those headphones on. "It's pretty clear up ahead, we can put the pack behind us!" Lissa looked down at her feet and gasped. "Oh! But don't step on my trail, okay??" She added frantically.

With the clone of Crystal covering her rear, Lissa's defense was impenetrable. The few that tried to approach from the front lost parts of their arms to the violent whirlwind of scythes. Send a million! They still won't stop my Whirlwince! Lissa thought to herself mere moments before her Whirlwince was stopped. While the fodder indeed couldn't get through the blades even with their entire bodies, one fearsome claw stopped them dead in their tracks. Hearing a vicious snarl, Lissa looked up and came face-to-face with the Alpha of the Beowolf pack.

"Huh? I'm not, well..." Patchouli tried to formulate a coherent sentence while her cheeks reddened. She could feel her arm pressing against the wall as she shrunk further into the corner, away from Azre. "Well, if everyone insists, I suppose I'll eat something..." The porcupine desperately wanted to escape from her own personality right now, but it seemed like anyone in the room she could copy would only cause trouble with their confrontational personalities.

Well, besides Azre, who was just annoying. But Patchouli didn't want to give him any strange ideas by touching him.

"I was going to attempt to avoid combat, but since you're all so eager..." Crystal gathered her clones and armed them all. "We fight on the move! Each of you has a clone assigned to protect you, so keep your eyes forward and your legs moving!"

Lissa stood firm, determined not to make a fool of herself any more. She dashed towards the nearest group of Grimm, hurling both pieces of Whirlwince into them to initiate combat. The blades sliced two of the beowolves, mortally wounding them. As soon as the twin scythes came back to her, Lissa caught them heavily and used their momentum to get herself spinning, activating her semblance and brutally ripping through the bodies of the two Grimm she had just slashed. The peppy girl couldn't help but smile, which may have come off as rather psychotic. It just so happened that "fighting on the move" was her specialty.

The team was surrounded on all sides by beowolves of varying levels of awareness, though it was clear that all of them were beginning to realize what was going on. In particular, the Grimm around Lissa (with Crystal close by) were enraged and causing a commotion, rapidly focusing their sights on the rest of the team. Few dared challenge Lissa while she was still spinning, but if she couldn't keep the momentum going she would be in serious trouble. Meanwhile, a group of four beowolves clambered over the rubble behind and to the left of Leona, running at frightening speeds as they made to blindside her. The clearest path to travel was naturally the path Lissa was busy clearing, though anything running that way would have to be careful of the glittery trail of frictionless ground. I did explain how my semblance works to them, right...? Lissa worried suddenly.

As she thought about her future with this team, Patchouli felt like she was shrinking with every passing second. The two siblings already knew each other and the third member seemed distant and independent. Though she desperately wanted to befriend them, there didn't seem to be a single easy way for Patchouli to connect with these new allies. At this rate, this was going to be a painful couple of years. To top it all off, they just had to get such an unusual mission for their first experience together. As more and more time passed, Patchouli eventually realized she had been staring at Ramalia the whole time.

"U-Um... She can have my share of rations, if she needs it..." Patchouli piped up from the corner, twiddling with a needle between her index fingers. "I don't think I'm going to be able to work up an appetite, hehe..." Of course, even Patchouli knew that Ramalia had by now eaten more than enough for the four of them combined, but the meek little rodent didn't feel it was her place to judge while she still didn't know the team very well. There was a reason, after all, that Erza was chosen as leader and not her.

I'd feel most comfortable having King run it. I'm cool with the idea, for sure.

"Yeah, I'm okay..." Lissa winced as she stood up. Initially, she started checking herself over for injuries but froze completely upon hearing a growl behind and to her right. Just out of the corner of her eye she spotted the creature that had been roused by the commotion, but even before she could identify it as a beowolf it had already been run through by one of Crystal's shimmering clones. Out of the frying pan, into the fire... was all Lissa could think as her clearly cross professor approached her.

"Are you unhurt?" Crystal asked, no hint of concern in her hushed voice. Lissa nodded slightly. "Good. We can't afford to slow down any more at this point, so I expect you all to follow close behind me. Beowolves are rarely found alone; if we have to fight through the rest of the pack, we will. Understood?" The look on Crystal's face convinced Lissa that if she made another mistake, she would be left behind. She nodded vigorously.

I don't really know as far as leader (other than Patchy is totally out of the running) but team name RASB sounds good to me.

I don't mind so long as you're active. Losing you would mean losing half the team, after all.

(Sorry! Got caught up in other things, and admittedly I have the beginning and end of this figured out a good deal better than the middle.)

Without a word, Crystal gestured that the team follow her and got on the move. Though she moved quietly and gracefully, it seemed Crystal wasn't taking her own advice about staying on guard. Her eyes were fixated on a single point ahead, and the speed at which she dashed toward it was difficult to keep up with. Lissa wanted to say something, but kept her mouth shut for fear of being punished again. After a while, the strenuous jog caught up with her and she fell, tripped up by an old pole that caught her leg. "Owwwww..." she blurted, forgetting about her fear of getting in trouble. "Hey Lee, help me up?" She rolled over onto her back, extending a hand for assistance.

((DEX, just a heads-up that the Grimm you mentioned don't exist in this universe. There are some fanon Grimm on the board, but anything not listed in The Grimm Catalog is off-limits. No need to change your post, I'll just treat it as Mikado thinking about fictional beasts he's heard of, like a real-world soldier joking about dragons or something.))

"Frankly, I don't know a whole lot about team combat either," Jacob mused. "But I figure it's not worth thinking too hard about until we meet the rest of our team, y'know?" It wasn't long before the pair of students could see the first signs of a railroad track ahead. As they approached, their unseen stalker shifted into position, waiting for the two to step into the open.

"I'm Jacob. Follow me and we'll be done in no time." He smiled confidently, despite having no idea what to do next. The dense red canopy had prevented him from noticing anything particularly interesting from the air, and of course the trees blocked his vision on the ground. It was as Serin had said; there really was no way to know exactly where they should be going. Regardless, Jacob picked a direction and pointed that way. "Well, let's get on the move! There used to be some train tracks that ran in and out of caves in this forest. If we can pick up the trail, finding something interesting should be a cinch."

I would update the title to say "[3/4] (1 pending)" or something. Something that conveys the status of the team.
Although I don't see why Nami wouldn't make it in.

Percy's already been on a team named after a tree (ASPN) so I find it amusing that our main choices are between PINE (a type of tree) and EBNI (a type of wood).

But, uh...
"Ebony is a dense black hardwood, most commonly yielded by several different species in the genus Diospyros, which also contains the persimmons."

IT WAS MEANT TO BE.

Oh I didn't notice this was here!
Patchouli needs a team since VLPS fell apart.

Patchy deals pretty weak but precise strikes as well as minor supporting effects. With her semblance she can also mimic the talents and personality (but not physical capabilities or semblance) or any person she touches. She is shy and soft-spoken but knows when to be assertive and if need be will copy someone else's personality to do so.
