"Oh yeah, I'm definitely already loving this weather. Beats the desert any day. Though, if you ask me, the heat ain't the worst part; it's the wind and the sand. Half the process of setting up camp is dusting off all your gear. Keep in mind, most of the stuff's covered during the day, too, so don't ask me how it gets in there," Toast says, making casual small talk with Alfyn. He doesn't even seem to mind the change in nickname, and he keeps a casual grin on his face as the group walks out into the town.
Speaking of which, the town was definitely unusual. Growing up traveling the desert, Toast's senses were honed to detect danger, and that included his aura's "detection" ability. But when he started feeling the unusual presence of unlocked auras all around him, he initially wondered if his aura was on the fritz. Yet when he actually looked at the townspeople themselves, he could easily tell that his senses weren't lying to him. And while the town itself didn't seem all that impressive, the streets seemed to be filled with people hustling and bustling, something the desert-dwelling faunus definitely wasn't used to. Maybe it's just a culture thing? "Lively little town you got here," he says to Alfyn, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
When Alfyn suddenly changes topic to "getting to know each other better", Toast is initially confused, but then starts putting two and two together. "Oh, are you asking about how we fight? Well, uh, hmm," he pauses, scratching his cheek. And then a grin slowly spreads across his face, and he says, "I dunno if I can explain it with words, but maybe a demonstration is in order?" And with that, he shrugs off his backpack and sets it down next to Cammie, saying, "You mind watching this for a bit?" then begins cracking his neck and doing a quick bit of stretching, while simultaneously checking his surroundings.
After his brief warm-up, Toast grins and says, "Don't blink now, wouldn't want you to miss any of the show!" He then slowly leans forward, almost to the point that it looks like he's about to straight up fall on his face, then--
*BANG!*
A gunshot rings out, and Toast is blasted forward at a sprinter's pace, two pistols in his hands, and starts barreling to a nearby wall. And just when it looks like he's about to crash into it, a blade springs out from one of the pistols, and Toast plants it into the ground, redirecting his momentum and allowing him to instead sprint straight up the wall. Right as he's about to crest the top, he jumps off in a daring leap across the street, soaring above his two companions. His eyes look towards the top of the house on the other side, but there's no way his momentum is enough to carry him all the way over. But just when it looks like he's about to come crashing down, another shot rings out from his pistol, and the acrobat is once again flung forward with added momentum. The boost is not only enough to reach the next house, but to even reach the roof. And yet, without his feet ever touching the shingles, he extends his arm and hooks it around the weather vane, redirecting his trajectory once again back towards the street.
However, there's no way he has enough momentum, even if he boosts himself with his pistols again, that he'd make it back to the other house. But Toast has no intention of ending his performance at this stage. Once again, a shot rings out from the Butter Knives, this time aimed straight down. In response, his body lurches upward, and Toast uses the extra force to do a spin in the air. Then another shot comes, sending him even higher and letting him do a flip. And then another shot comes out, sending him further into the air while he does an up-side down vertical spin. And then one more shot, sending him even higher into the sky as Toast does another aerial trick.
However, just when Cammie and Alfyn might have picked up on the pattern and timing of his shots, Toast begins to fall head-first towards the ground. If he didn't have aura, a fall from that height and that angle would definitely be a kill. And yet, the look on Toast's face, if they could see it, was one of the utmost confidence. He falls and falls, hurtling towards the street at a breakneck pace, but just when it looks like he's about to wipe out and crash into the earth--
*BANG! BANG!*
Two shots erupt from the pistols, stopping the high-flying faunus in mid-air and giving him just enough time to pull off one more aerial flip. At the end of his flip, the blades come shooting out of his pistols once again, and Toast throws them both towards the ground, where they land and embed themselves. And, with the grace expected of a trained and practiced acrobat, Toast lands gently on to the hilts of his swords and finishes his demonstration with a bow. Talk about a show-off.
