A sniper, a dust caster, and a brawler. He could absolutely work with this. Lucas's dust enhancement could potentially synergize well with Prometheus, though the effects would remain to be seen. Prism already showed her skills, and her own dust casting abilities were impressive. Having an eye in the sky was always good regardless; more vantage points allowed for greater opportunities. And Cloe... She had already proven to be quite quick, and her strength was impressive. A solid bruiser applying pressure in the close range is a valuable asset, and a role that Juno himself was usually more inclined to take. All of these specialized roles... and Juno was now at the liberty to swap between the three as needed. They'd just need the right direction for everything to flow smoothly...

He smirked as Prism finished her piece, taking a moment to flick the brim of his hat up with his usual swagger. "N' I'm Juno Varia. It's good to have some names to apply to faces." He mused, hooking his thumbs in his pockets and nodding toward Lucas and Cloe. "Reassuring ain't the half of it, y'all caught on quick to what I was setting up. Synergy like that's important, n' if we can keep this up, this'll be a cake walk." Bold words, to be sure, but Juno was confident. Everyone seemed to at least know what they were doing, and their end goal was laughably simple.

This would be over and done with before lunch.

"Because winning requires burning a ton of it." Juno replied, attempting to organize a mess of crystals laid out on his desk. Their repeated victories were never without a cost, and at about 10 lien for a tube of powder, bills would be racking up if they weren't sponsored by Beacon. Even so, their dust use was kind of obscene. Their last mission had almost exhausted their field supply... over the course of a six hour deployment. Whoever was managing supply drops probably threw a fit.

The wolf leaned back in his chair, having carefully individually wrapped a nice pyramid of crystals for storage. There was still much more work to be done, ideally before everyone had to sleep, but with the amount of work left, they could be working well into dinner. "Where did the others say they were going again?"

Dust is an incredibly powerful and invaluable resource. The sheer variety of dust alone can reshape battlefields, allowing the forces of civilization to fight on even ground against the Grimm. The energy dust provides is used in almost all the technology of the kingdoms, including everything from cutting-edge weapons to the lights in the dorm room.

With all that in mind, it makes perfect sense for why team CLVS uses so much dust. When combined with their semblances, the versatility of dust makes them an unpredictable force, able to adapt to pretty much any situation. Thanks to all their dust, entire packs of Grimm have been wiped out, sometimes even in a matter of seconds! Yet, there is still one downside to this amazing resource.

"Why do we have so much dust?" Lucas sighed as he picked up another vial. Because the entire team uses an extensive amount of dust, there is an extensive amount of dust scattered about the dorm room. This isn't even necessarily the result of carelessness, the everyday use of it just lends itself to becoming disorganized. Because of that, Lucas had originally only resolved to keep his dust in his specific area, but the scattering about of dust crystals and particulate had blurred the boundaries, and now Lucas has taken on the unenviable task of trying to organize everything.

And that means scattering the dust even further, just so he can have space to gather his thoughts and properly classify all the scattered crystals. Thus, the CLVS dorm room is currently covered in different colored piles of dust, spaced out by strips of paper, with Lucas at the center with a notebook and a case full of vials. This is definitely going to take a lot of work.

The Vale Region / A New Good Luck Charm [CLOSED]

It was a bright and sunny day in Vale, bright enough that Lucas had to shield his eyes as he stepped down the Bullhead's loading ramp, setting out into the city of Vale. It was an off-day for Beacon, so he wasn't wearing his uniform, and he wasn't on a mission, so he wasn't wearing his combat attire either. Instead, he was wearing a more casual outfit, tennis shoes with jeans and a black t-shirt underneath a red, zipped-up jacket.

That was all he should have needed for an errand run, after all. His team consumed a massive amount of dust on their missions and training, so restocking on supplies has become a commonplace activity on weekends and holidays. Of course, Lucas could have done all the necessary shopping online and had it delivered to Beacon, but even he needed to get away every once in a while, and this errand run was the perfect excuse to stretch his legs. Besides, his family owned a dust shop, so he knew the little tricks that shops liked to pull to make more money. That combined with his own experience judging dust purity made him the perfect person to handle this.

That was why when the person behind him stepped off the loading ramp, Lucas sighed and said, "I can handle this by myself, ya know? You don't have to stick around if you don't want to..."

Nathan quietly followed behind Pyre as she lit the way, trying his hardest to keep an ear out for any out-of-place sounds. Not that it was much help considering all his teammates had better senses than he did by a good margin.

Upon arriving at the pit, he gingerly looked over Pyre's left shoulder as she lit up what she could of the room below. A wide, cylindrical room with a decrepit staircase going around the edge starting where they were standing. Several chunks of stairs were missing and he couldn't even see a quarter of the way down, it'd be hard to imagine that the stairs were even half intact, let alone usable. The leader's burst of flames confirmed his thoughts.

The, er, other girl on his team barely started mentioning that she'd need another lift down when a small red glow appeared in the shadows below and the sound of massive rocks breaking apart filled the cavern. A faint air current on the back of his neck was all he had the time to notice before an enormous boulder came into range of Pyre's light, crashing right below the ledge where three quarters of the team were standing. It thankfully missed but as a precautionary measure, he took a step back.

Putting himself to the left of Pyre in a defensive stance, he answered the feminine voice with no name's question in an equally loud, if lower-pitched, voice: "Depends on everyone's alpha strike capabilities! We either give it a single hit on the mask to take it out, slam its main host apart in a single hit then take it out immediately, or whittle it down by hitting the mask over and over! And whatever we end up choosing, I'm not gonna be a lot of help within that thing's range if I can't see it flailing around!"

Beacon Academy / What the Night Owls See [Closed]

Lucas was staring at his screen, doing his best to resist the urge to drum his fingers on his desk. It was already past midnight, and his room was already filled with the sounds of his sleeping teammates. He was sure the glare from the backlight of his monitor was already enough to disturb their sleep, seeing as how it was enough to keep his own night vision from coming into focus. Anything beyond that and the typing of his keyboard was sure to earn a pillow thrown at him...or perhaps even a fist. Yeah, it was probably best to keep extraneous noise to a minimum.

Still, he was getting nowhere on his assignment, and the more he stared at the screen, the more he wanted to shout at himself for not getting started on it sooner. Sure, he has until the next evening to finish, but he had entire week to do it. Despite that, he's only managed to write a single word:

"The"

It's not that he has writer's block, per se. He knows what he wants to write, to the point that he knows the direction his entire assignment will take, including which citations he'll need. Unfortunately, since the work is done already in his head, his body is refusing to take the next step and put the words to paper. Hence, Lucas isn't staring at a blank screen because he doesn't know what to write, but because he's too bored to actually write. And yet, if he doesn't, his grade will tank, and that's something he can't afford to have happen. Thus, Lucas chains himself to his seat in a vain effort to sit down and actually do the thing he's supposed to have done ages ago.

The drive to procrastinate is strong, though, and in a matter of minutes Lucas is back up, grabbing a book out of his bag to "review" (at this point, he's practically memorized the passage that he needs, save for the page number, and he's really just trying to get his mind to focus). He steps towards the room door to "study" in peace when he spies an empty bed. Since he's up and about still, it would be practical to assume it's his, but it's not. Lucas's bed sheets are tossed all about, almost as disheveled as he currently is. This bed belongs to Prism, the crisp, tucked-in bed sheets almost as strong a tell as the nameplate.

Where could she be at such a late hour? Well, it's not really any of Lucas's business what she did in her free time. So long as she kept up her part of the team's assignments, he had no complaints. With that in mind, Lucas stepped out of his team's dormitory and started wondering down the halls, trying to force his mind to focus on more important things.

For the sake of not incapacitating herself with a migraine, Tine refrained from using her radar despite now being about the most important time to use it since she first crash-landed in the forest. The ruins seemed cramped enough that nothing too large could jump out at them without making noticeable noises, but she kept herself behind Cyrus just in case. If nothing else, the giant made a nice big meat shield.

Without her extra sense, she was forced to rely on Pyre's source of ethereal light as she lightly treaded the hallways, her soft footsteps eclipsed out by her teammates' louder clomping. Cyrus kept turning back to glance at the rest of the team - whether to keep count of them like a bear taking care of its cubs or just looking for reassurance - but the flickering purple flame combined with the giant's height often veiled his expression in shadow. Still, it was nice to know he cared instead of simply stomping ahead without a care in the world. Tina briefly considered just taking her scroll out and using it as another makeshift source of lighting, but nearly bumped into Pyre mid-thought.

They'd stopped before a drop into darkness, the purple glow barely illuminating the damaged remnants of the stairway. Wooden handrails along the walls looked mostly intact, but the same couldn't be said for the pillars that made up the structural supports. As the lightest of the group - and the only one without flight - Tina gingerly tested the first few planks with one outstretched leg while their leader dropped straight down. "You might need to give me another lift, Pyre -" She'd barely started whispering before the quaking of rocks drowned out her remaining words and all remaining light was snuffed out, save for Pyre's flaming hand.

From the top of the stairwell, Tina couldn't make out the large figure and wings of their leader. What she could discern made her whimper quietly - a pair of dim, blood-red eyes set in bleached bone amidst a curtain of darkness such that she had no idea what the Grimm they were facing was. The rumbling didn't help matters as to her slightly panicked senses, it felt like the whole structure might collapse on them. Tina pointed both revolvers down at the only visible target, but every working sense she had screamed DUCK! She threw herself backwards as a boulder crashed just below where the remaining members were standing. "So what's the plan, guys?" she shouted over the rumbling and tremors.

Despite Ayaka's concern about her partner fighting with a lizard in her backpack, Iris felt confident that her new pet would be safe. He was currently residing in a moss-padded container wrapped up tightly in a scarf, tucked away safely for what could end up being a bumpy ride. However, Iris didn't really care to communicate any important details on this matter. She was actually about to change the subject entirely, but a Beowolf managed to derail the conversation before she could.

Iris stood there with mild surprise on her expression as Ayaka dispatched the monster in front of her. Realizing that she actually had to be attentive now, Iris made a quick visual scan, spotting at least half a dozen more of the beasts incoming from the treeline.

Silently drawing her weapon, Iris readied her aim and fired. Bang! The first shot from her sniper rifle hit one of the Beowolves in the skull, bone armor splintering outwards as the beast tumbled to the ground. She fired another shot, removing the arm of a second Beowolf. With each shot that followed, Iris managed to incapacitate another one of the monsters, but many more appeared to be following from behind.

What exactly had drawn them in this direction, Iris wondered? Had they been making too much noise? No, they had arrived before any shooting started. Above all else, creatures of Grimm were attracted to negative emotions… Iris wasn't the best at reading people, but even she could tell that this girl wasn't exactly radiating positive vibes. Unfortunately, she had no idea how to address that issue. Killing all of the Grimm would just have to do.

"Yo. These things have crap for brains. We can handle this." Iris swiftly reloaded her rifle before returning the weapon to its place behind her back. From the looks of it, close-quarters combat was unavoidable now. Her dust-powered gloves activated with a flex of her fingers, leaving Iris more than ready to scrap with the incoming beasts. "Just do your thing, sweetpants. Don't worry about me."
