Airi was waiting for Aurelia to finally emerge from the wooded section of the field.  Aurelia hadn't used her semblance at all in this entire bout, so Airi was sure that Aurelia was channeling it in the cover of the woods.  All of a sudden an aura horse broke out from the treeline and charged at her.  Airi did not flinch, as she was expecting something spectacular from Aurelia's semblance, though what exactly was unknown to her.  Rather, a small grin of expectation was on her face for having seen the semblance revealed at last.

Airi took up her arms to look as if her strategy was merely to hold her ground against the charge.  However, as Aurelia and her semblance crossed nearly two thirds of the distance, Airi moved to action.  Being in the ice dust fields had given her the advantage.  Taking one of the crystals she had previously collected, she activated the dust, along with a small amount of her remaining fire dust.  Immediately after the brief flash of light upon activation, a low-lying cloud of frosty mist enveloped the ring.  The mist reached up to approximately Airi's shoulders and obscured everything beneath it.  However, this was not the only thing Airi did with the dust.  Upon closer inspection, one could see that she also used the dust to create a thin layer of ice to cover the arena floor.  With this hindrance, it would be difficult to move agilely, as the ground was slippery and traction was poor.  "Let's see how that horse handles on ice," she thought to herself.  As for herself, Airi continued to stand her ground, for she was still not yet finished.

Airi clutched onto another ice dust crystal and waited for the perfect moment when Aurelia would be nearly upon her.  Given the speed of the horse, she needed not wait long, but every passing moment felt like an eternity, and it didn't help that Airi, as a time jumper, felt each one more keenly than the average person could hope to.  Eventually, she saw the moment with the perfect opening and let herself evasively fall backwards.  As she did so, Airi activated the dust crystal.  From where she just was, a cluster of long icicles erupted from the ground, piercing through the mist layer and shooting up like spears angled defensively against the charging horse and rider.  It was Airi's hope that her opponent would charge headlong into the cluster of icy spears and that the ice-covered ground would prevent Aurelia's mount from being able to react well enough to avoid them.

Airi had walked forth from the ice fields, but she remained outside the forest.  She had no need to enter into an area where she could not see her opponent clearly.  Though by no means a conflagration, the smoldering embers would mean that Aurelia couldn't take refuge in the foliage forever.  As such, Airi walked back away from the forest and back towards the ice dust fields, letting her time remnants mimic her movements.  In her head, Airi thought of what she would do when Aurelia inevitably did come forth from the forested area.  With her dust reserves low, apart from ice dust, there wasn't really much to work with, but she had an idea.  She kept moving back and forth to keep her semblance time remnants away from her.

Airi followed the other students throughout the train cars.  However, she didn't say anything.  Kei did raise a good point as to why there were empty crates, but Airi still did not comment on it, because she figured that the nutty Professor Nox was going to collect something at one point in their trip.  When the students came to the car sealed behind the more advanced security, Airi's interest was indeed piqued.  Surely there was something much more valuable than mere dust in this car.  She wondered about all the various things that could be behind the doors - prototype robots, advanced weapons, strange technologies, or maybe even a captive Grimm.  Ok maybe not the last thing, but she was still interested.  When Kei interrupted Airi's thoughts to ask for some powder, Airi simply shrugged.  Who carried around powder on missions?

Lyra watched as Sovereign knocked out Greatsword Girl, and upon his doing so, she released her control of her aura constructs.  The captured aura quietly dissipated.  When Sovereign offered Airi and her to go back to her place, she was a bit surprised.  After all, Sovereign was a complete stranger to her.  On the other hand, Airi knew Sovereign at least somewhat well, so that made it ok, she supposed.  She didn't have any reason to opposing taking up Sovereign's offer.  Still, Lyra looked to Airi to see if she was going to accept.

By now, Airi was at the ice dust fields.  As Aurelia blended into the forests, but failed to reappear, Airi had suspicions as to what her opponent was up to.  She had to flush her out before she could use her semblance.  As a result, Airi used some fire and kinetic dust from her gauntlet.  In particular, she combined the two, creating and launched the resulting mixture at the forest.  Fireballs rained onto the trees, igniting them and torching the treeline.  Airi then continued her bombardment by adding ice dust into the mix causing the fireballs to become firebombs.  Suddenly, the wooded cover that made the forest such favorably defensive terrain was turned into a deadly storm of shrapnel and splinters.  In the meantime, she took several of the ice dust crystals, using them to refill her own reserves of ice dust and stashing several more on her belt.  They could come in handy, especially if her tactic to force Aurelia out failed.  Airi then stepped forth from the ice dust fields, continued to pace slowly, and watched as the forest on the other side of the arena went up in flames.

Airi continued to circle around Aurelia, soon positioning herself in between her opponent and her discarded weapon, using her time remnants as threats to keep Aurelia in a defensive position.  Airi waited for a moment, postponing momentarily her time remnants while watching to see what Aurelia would do.  When she saw her opponent taking a defensive position and similarly waiting to see what action she herself would take, Airi quickly leaped towards Aurelia's discarded sword and take it for her own, at least for the duration of the fight.  With her time remnants remaining in between herself and Aurelia to protect her, and with her opponent lacking any ranged options, Airi took up Aurelia's sword and inspected it briefly giving it a quick swing or two.  She remembered it could transform into a rifle.  She saw one of the weapon's two triggers and pulled one.  Nothing seemed to happen, and indeed it looked like it was missing some part to engage in the other transformation.  Airi pulled the other trigger, and nothing happened, either.  It seemed both forms required some other part to engage in the respective transformations.  That was unfortunate.  At least she had another weapon to use in conjunction with her armored gauntlet.  With this, Airi resumed circling around her opponent, taking care to keep a great distance between the two.  Airi would need to find a way to get her opponent to break her defensive position.  Still, though, she had the freedom to take her time and figure such a stratagem.

Airi rejoined the rest of the world, ready to fight, but she immediately felt a pain to her wrist.  Before she knew it, Aurelia had wrested Atropos from her grip.  She was going to lose control of her weapon.  Nonetheless, Aurelia was off of her.  Just as Aurelia attempts to attack Airi with her own weapon, however, Airi, blocks the swing with her armored gauntlet before immediately grabbing the blade.  The thing about attacking an opponent downed at your feet with anything other than a stab, is that it leaves the stability of your stance much to be desired.  Airi capitalizes on this and immediately yanks towards herself, pulling Aurelia downwards.  Airi tucks in her legs and uses them to continue Aurelia's tumbling momentum and launch her opponent on to the ground behind her.  In the middle of Aurelia's mid-air tumble, Airi, owing to her familiarity with her own weapon, quickly reached up and ejected from Atropos its kinetic dust reserves.

As Aurelia landed on the ground behind her, Airi quickly got off the ground, and added Atropos's kinetic dust to that of her gauntlet.  Hastily, Airi reclaimed her thread spool, locked it, and replaced it on her hip, but she otherwise completely disengaged it from use.  She had no use for the threads now.  From here on out, it would just be her favored weapon and her semblance.  Airi stepped back away from Aurelia, started to walk in a circular path, and activated her semblance, creating a number of time remnants.  There was one at three seconds, five seconds, seven seconds, and ten seconds.

Airi felt her wrist pinned, so she could not proceed with her planned.  She had to think of something new, and quick.  She still held onto Fateweaver's threads, and it seemed that Aurelia wanted Airi to retreat to her semblance.  But the good thing about Airi's semblance was that it always gave her options.  The time remnant was fast approaching.  Time to put one of those options to use.  Airi re-secured the thread to her gauntlet using the latch mechanism.  Still gripping Fateweaver's threads with her gauntlet, she headbutt Aurelia.  Again, this wasn't meant to particularly damage her opponent, but instead to give her something to focus on.  The time remnant seemed to move faster than before.

Within a brief moment, the time remnant was nearly upon her.  Immediately, Airi activated half of her dust reserves in her gauntlet, and channeled it through Fateweaver.  Aurelia might have been putting weight on Airi's gauntlet, but that wouldn't stop her from using her semblance energy.  The energy crackled as the various dust types mixed, under control only by Airi's aura as channeled through her gauntlet.  Airi had no clear idea about what she was doing with the dust, but that didn't matter.  All that mattered was that the dust creation was volatile.  Airi, using her sword hand, gripped lightly at Aurelia's defending hand, not enough to seriously hinder Airi's grip of her weapon, but enough to slightly grip Aurelia's hand/fingers.

All of a sudden, Airi froze.  The time remnant, accelerated by Airi, had caught up to her.   She went into stasis, untouchable to the outside world.  As Airi temporarily dissociated from the world, the agglomeration of activated dust energy previously kept in check by Airi channeling through her gauntlet exploded in a large release of energy.  Airi, being in stasis, took no damage from the blast, but Aurelia, with her knee and torso over Airi's gauntlet, was exposed to the full brunt of the blast.  Aurelia might have been able to maneuver her shield to protect her, but it was unlikely, given how close to the ground the two were, how large the shield was, and how Aurelia' was kept in place by the stasis thread and Airi's light stasis grip.

After several brief seconds, Airi exited stasis and pushed Aurelia off of her, before preparing to re-engage with her weapons, leaving no time for Aurelia to get a break after the dust explostion.

Airi hit the ground with a thud.  "This girl's heavy," she thought to herself as her opponent's armored body sat on top of her.  Pinned to the ground if by nothing other than the weight of Aurelia's armor, Airi seemed like she was in quite the uncomfortable position.  She craned her neck to look around, seeing her time remnant approaching her.  She didn't get to use it like she had planned as she was first tackled, but as it came close, Airi hastily evaluated her options.  She decided upon one and was glad the time remnant was still around.  Atropos still in hand, Airi attempted to bash her opponent's head with her sword's guard and pommel.

However, as much Airi was actually aiming to hurt her opponent with the guard bashes the head, this was just a distraction.  Airi, with her right hand still near her cable spool, surreptitiously unlocked the spool, and removed it from its mounting on her waist.  She then removed the latch mechanism for the spool threads from her gauntlet, barely moving her hand.  Out of the corner of her eye, Airi watched as her time remnant approached, and she waited for the right moment.

The time remnant stepped close, and the right moment had appeared.  While still trying to attack Aurelia with her sword, Airi, with a flick of the wrist, tossed the thread latch and the spool in the direction of the time remnant, aiming for them to fly a little past the time remnant.  Immediately, she activated her semblance and retreated to her time remnant.  An aura shockwave followed, blasting Aurelia one direction and the latch and spool in the other direction.  Now at her time remnant's place, Airi grabbed the spool and latch as they flew past her.  Taking advantage of Aurelia's distraction from the shockwave, Airi reattached the two articles as they were before.  She was now behind Aurelia, who was on the ground and still had Fateweaver's threads wound around her neck.  Airi reengaged the spring and locked the spool, removing the slack from the threads.

With Aurelia's back turned towards her, Airi pulled as hard as she could on the cables, choking Aurelia to keep her off balance.  Airi then unlocked her spool and advanced against her opponent, sword raised and ready to strike.

Aurelia was charging her again, and she had her hand outstretched, about to grab Airi.  With Aurelia being electrocuted, letting her opponent barrel into her wasn't an option.  At the same time, Airi didn't think she could pull back her hand in time.  But she sure as hell wasn't going to let Aurelia grab a hold of her on hostile terms.  The only option, then, was to meet Aurelia's reach, even if she would take some of the electric charge back.  As Aurelia's arm came in, Airi braced herself and then pivoted her torso slightly to let Aurelia's arm extend and straighten as the hand moved up and came to rest on Airi's shoulder.  Grimacing as the felt the residual electric shock pass through Aurelia into herself, Airi immediately released her grip of Fateweaver's thread and reacted with a round punch to the cap of Aurelia's elbow.  It wasn't the strongest punch, especially given that Airi was just pulled off balance by Aurelia reeling from the kinetic dust blast and that Airi was hastily putting up a throw to meet Aurelia's attempt to grab her.  But luckily, Airi didn't need to make a strong punch for it to be devastating.  Using more kinetic dust from her gauntlet, she increased the force of her blow.  On top of that, Airi accelerated her semblance time remnant forwards to herself.  In that moment, Airi's figure appeared to fracture in and out as the echoing time remnant traced her actions with the barest milliseconds of lag.  Aurelia might have only seen one punch, but her arm definitely felt two.  Were it not protected with aura, the bone in her elbow would have been pulverized into powder and her arm distended.  But protected as she was with Aura, Airi's opponent was only going to be knocked back by the force of the blow, not to mention feeling the incredible pain.

Airi then shrugged her shoulder so as to shove Aurelia's hand back at her opponent and off of her, taking advantage of the likely numbness resulting from the incredibly forceful punch.

Airi saw Aurelia rushing towards her, which is exactly why she had kept her distance from her entrapped opponent.  With the time to react, Airi used Fateweaver to launch a kinetic dust blast from Fateweaver to knock Aurelia back and maintain the distance between the two.  The design of the armored gauntlet allowed her to keep Aurelia entangled and still let her right arm be free enough to do at least this much.  It was a rather light dust blast, but Airi mainly wanted to keep the distance to let the lightning dust to work a little bit more.  After waiting about another second for the lightning dust to work, she ceased used the dust and with her sword raised, charged in to follow up on the knockback and electrocution.

Airi was more than a little annoyed that Aurelia had the discipline to continue to block despite the garrotte around her neck.  "You've got some discipline," she told Aurelia.  "But I'm not done quite yet," she continued.  Placing her armored gauntlet on the cable-threads, Airi, activated the lightning dust in her gauntlet, using the threads to carry electricity into Aurelia.  After waiting for a brief moment for the electricity to kick in and shock Aurelia, Airi created a time remnant, set for 5 seconds, and started walking, making sure to keep her distance from Aurelia while she continued to shock her.

NPC Profiles / Yasha Krāsny
« on: August 06, 2018, 05:20:19 PM »

Name: Yasha Krāsny

Age: 39

Species and Gender: Faunus Male, Lion faunus

Symbol:  A battle-scarred, snarling lion with one paw crushing a shattered crown.

Occupation: Labor Union Executive Officer, criminal, White Fang sympathizer

At 6 feet, 6 inches and 230 pounds, Yasha is a big man.  Possessing a very muscular body, he has the look of a warrior, through and through.  His moderately-tanned skin and short, bristly medium brown hair suggest that he is of Vacuan descent.  Yasha has sharp features and a strong, clean-shaven jawline, with hazel/amber-colored eyes set above a narrow, straight nose.  A long, faded scar runs horizontally across the ridge of his nose and onto the top of his cheekbones.  Courtesy of his Faunus heritage, Yasha bears long and sharp canines that are visible when he smiles and speaks.  Taking these features together, he projects a commanding and imposing presence.  He has two small barcode tattoos: one just below his left wrist, and one over his right latissimus dorsi.
While out in public or needing to appear respectable, Yasha generally wears a dark red collared shirt with a black tie.  His pants are grey and along with a matching waistcoat and suit jacket, have a barely perceptible striped pattern to them.  With this, he wears black leather dress shoes.  When expecting to perform sustained physical activity, he often wears a black cotton tank top while wearing slim, dark grey cargo pants/trousers that are tucked into tan-colored combat boots and help up by a thick, dark leather belt with a lion’s head buckle.  Over this, Yasha wears a sheepskin-colored leather jacket with an off-center zipper.  Its lapels and collar are lined with fur, giving the appearance of a lion’s mane.

Yasha does not frequently speak of his youth, and few, if any, know of his background, other than that he is from Vacuo.  Having grown up in a nomadic clan in the deserts of Vacuo, his childhood was fraught with challenges and adversity.  His clan moved from small oasis to small oasis, but the possibility of Grimm attacks during the treks meant that the tribesman all needed to learn to defend themselves.  It was here that Yasha learned to fight.
When Yasha was seventeen, disaster struck.  While travelling to a oasis that they had never previously been to, his clan inadvertently navigated into a nest of Deathstalker Grimm.  While the clansmen fought against the Grimm, they lacked the skills of hunters necessary to fight an entire brood of powerful Grimm.  The clan was annihilated.  In the face of the carnage, Yasha fled.  Though it was likely that other members of his clan similarly fled, he never met any again.  Fleeing into the desert, Yasha stumbled through the shifting sands.  Though having grown up in a nomadic lifestyle in the deserts prepared Yasha for navigating the deserts of Vacuo, he was exhausted and without provisions -  nearly all of his belongings were lost with his clan’s caravan to the Deathstalker attack.
Against all odds, Yasha endured and arrived, near death, at the outskirts of Vacuo’s main city (the one Shade is located in).  An old couple took pity on the youth on death’s door and took him in, nursing him back to health.  Yasha did his best to repay their kindness, but after they passed, Yasha set out on his own.
Finding odd jobs here and there, Yasha struggled to make a living.  As a nomadic tribesman, he really had no marketable skills that were relevant in Vacuo’s (sole) major city.  All that was available to him were jobs dependent on unskilled, but backbreaking labor.  After bouncing around from place to place trying to find his own way, Yasha found work in a dust mine dominated by the Schnee Dust Company, in a mining town away from Vacuo’s city.  The work was physically back-breaking and though it paid decently well, there were countless safety hazards, ranging from the risk of cave-ins to the risk of accidental activation and detonation of the mined dust.  It was a tough life.  Furthermore, though Vacuo had a culture of acceptance and tolerance, that culture did not translate well into the Schnee Dust Company-dominated mining town.  Not only did he face discrimination for his Faunus heritage, but he also faced it for his nomadic, backwater origins.
Nonetheless, Yasha found success in the mines.  A tough and hard worker, Yasha was charismatic and drew his fellow miners to him, representing their interests to corporate management.  From this, Yasha rose quickly through the ranks of the miner’s union.
Eventually, Yasha became a full-time union worker, gaining a reputation of being an implacable defender of workers’ rights.  Despite his focus on mine workers’ collective bargaining above all else, Yasha’s being a Faunus, made him an unintentional figure in the local Faunus rights movement, seeming to unite workers’ rights with Faunus rights in a broader struggle against an exploitative and discriminatory status quo as embodied by monolithic corporations, especially the Schnee Dust Company.
In light of this, Yasha was sent to Vale, where species relations were more tense between humans and Faunus, as compared to in Vacuo.  Taking charge of the mining union’s Valish branch, he has since brought his relentless determination to advance workers’ rights, becoming a major thorn in the sides of both local mining companies and speciesist groups seeking to win over the local miners through the portrayal of Faunus as nothing but wage wedges.

Unfortunately, when people look at Yasha’s outstanding record as a champion in the labor movement, few realize exactly what it took to win the victories that Yasha has won.  In the beginning, establishing a reliable regime of collective bargaining was tough.  Vacuo, for lack of a better word, was little beyond its dust mines and Shade Academy, as far as an organized society went.  With so many nomadic peoples such as Yasha coming and going, temporary workers were plenty, and so it was easy for corporate management to find wage wedges.  On top of that, despite what Yasha would later assert in Vale, many companies had indeed followed the model of the Schnee Dust Company, using Faunus as wage wedges and strike breakers that further made orchestrating any meaningful collective bargaining difficult.
It was in such circumstances that Yasha needed to resort to more forceful tactics.  Extortion, blackmailing, bribing, and intimidation - all were necessary to forge the mine workers into a strong union and overcome the threat of wage wedges and strike breakers.  With this, marked Yasha’s descent into the criminal underworld.  While refusing to engage in the more base forms of criminal enterprises, such as human and faunus trafficking, prostitution, and drug distribution, Yasha’s union, for all of the good it brought to the local labor movement, was a criminal racket.  Certainly, many with knowledge of the criminal underworld distinguished Yasha and his associates from more depraved gangsters, for he was a “nicer” kind of criminal, and at the end of the day, his was a noble cause, or at least began as one.  However, it did not change the fact that more than once, blood was spilt.
Today, Yasha’s enterprises, which at times are difficult to clearly distinguish from the labor union itself, tend towards white collar crime, primarily in money laundering, fraud, and usury.  Most notably, Yasha’s control of the mine workers’ union as well as allied unions, its pension funds, and its associated political action committees has allowed him to transform illegal profits into ostensibly legitimate funds, especially within Vacuo’s weak government jurisdiction.  While not particularly associated with any other criminal group, his money laundering services and fraud enterprises have seen him rub shoulders with all walks of life in the criminal underworld, such as Obsidian Rose, the notable crime syndicate.  Furthermore, Yasha has sought to divert some of these funds to the White Fang movement, for though he has no particular stake in seeing an independent all-faunus state, his experiences in the mines left him with a strong vendetta against the Schnee Dust Company, as well as other mining companies with discriminatory labor practices that follow the SDC pattern.

As a person looked up to for his achievements in furtherance of the labor movement, Yasha presents himself as a dignified and respectable individual.  While self-educated, he has an air of sophistication and intellectualism untainted by any pretentiousness or insecure overcompensation.  Often soft spoken, yet bold, forceful, and unafraid to make a stand when necessary, Yasha is admired for the apparent strength of his convictions within the context of the labor movement, giving him an aura of nobility as he champions the common man.
On a more personal level, Yasha’s sophistication is tempered with a sort of down-to-earth feeling, and many find him likable and charismatic.  He possesses a can-do attitude that marks him out as a dynamic man of action, reliability, and commitment.
Further down, however, Yasha is a person quite different from what most others make him to be.  His time in Vacuo’s mines under the yoke of the Schnee Dust Company taught him the value of strength and power, and as his position in the public eye grew from his exploits as a rising star in the labor movement, so did his pride.  Having risen to power as a union leader, it has become unclear if Yasha’s continued fight against corporate abuses is motivated by true concern for workers or if at this point, he is fighting for the sake of empire-building.
This prideful aspect is most clear when it comes to Yasha’s criminal enterprises.  Yasha has long since abandoned any attempt at justifying his criminal enterprises as regrettable but ultimately necessary actions for the sake of maintaining the momentum of the labor movement.  Here, Yasha’s ambitious nature makes him domineering, callous, and ultimately, cruel, as he seeks to carve out his own niche in Remnant’s criminal underworld.
Nonetheless, Yasha harbors great disdain for the Schnee Dust Company.  He understands that the SDC, with regards to its treatment of Faunus, is unrepresentative of most humans, which is why he has yet to formally align himself with the White Fang movement, but he views the Schnee Dust Company as a symbol of an old, cruel, and corrupt order that must be removed to give way to the new for a better tomorrow.  In this aspect, Yasha harbors a small glint of anarchic idealism, perhaps pointing to the culture of freedom and perseverance that he developed during his youth as a Vacuan tribesman.

Aura and Semblance: Dark Guardian
Yasha’s semblance involves the creation of a peculiar aura construct that has the appearance of a large, shadowy, muscular being with a featureless face and emanating a smoky aura.  However, the being is not limited to this form and can distort its appearance to reflect Yasha’s frame of mind or whatever he wills it to be.  This shadow construct can and often acts independently of Yasha and is more a reflection of his subconscious.  For the most part, the construct is attached to Yasha, seeming to at least physically originate from his shadow, though the construct can, at any time, leave Yasha for brief periods of time, requiring much more aura expenditure to maintain its separation.  The shadow construct varies in its corporealness, ranging from being merely a thick haze to being fully corporeal.  Generally speaking, the more corporeal the shadow construct, the easier it is to attack directly, causing increased taxation of Yasha’s aura reserves.
The construct can directly fight in its corporeal form and is generally much stronger and faster than a person at his or her physical peak, giving Yasha an edge in both surprise and combat ability.  Furthermore, Yasha can expend extra aura to warp to the Guardian while it is separated from him, suddenly disappearing and then reforming at its location.
One notable ability of Yasha’s semblance is for the Guardian to leave him and instead enter his weapon.  During this time, Passover is empowered, doing much more damage, but in exchange, Yasha’s aura drains at a significant rate, meaning that this can only be done for very brief periods.  Much as the Guardian is not permanently bound to Yasha, it is not bound to Passover during this period and can leave it any time Yasha wills it.

Combat Behavior:
Yasha is a very physical attacker and a passionate fighter, easily engrossed by the thrill of battle and the visceral feel of Passover’s blade cutting through enemies.  Despite the power of his semblance in close combat, Yasha prefers to rely on his own skill with his scythe blade than on the raw strength offered by the Guardian.  To this effect, Yasha wields Passover in a way that utilizes and efficiently conserves the momentum of his swings, epitomizing the broad, sweeping strokes of a scythe (more like how Ryu Hayabusa uses the Eclipse Scythe in Ninja Gaiden than like how Ruby uses Crescent Rose).  With this style of scythe combat, Passover’s shorter handle becomes more useful, than a scythe handle of traditional length, as it offers increased control in exchange for blade reach.
When Yasha does utilize his Guardian, it usually is for the purpose of surprising an unsuspecting enemy or when the Guardian’s physical strength is desperately needed, such as against larger Grimm.  Otherwise, it is quite possible for Yasha’s opponents to go entire fights against him without realizing he has a semblance that he knows how to use.
Given Yasha’s preference for close combat and lack of ranged weapons or abilities, he struggles with enemies who are able to maintain a distance from him while being able to do damage to him.  Though Passover has mechanisms for using kinetic dust to create blade arcs that effectively extend the reach of the blade, such range-enhancing mechanisms are limited by the amount of dust available and is not a viable option.

Name: Passover

Primary Form: a large scythe with a shorter-than usual handle.  There is a sharp weighted end on the other side of the handle.

Secondary Form: The scythe head can rotate upward to make Passover into a traditional warscythe or a large-bladed glaive.  Alternatively, the head can rotate inward for easier stowage.

Tertiary Form: The blade-head can be removed from the shaft, revealing a spear blade, making Passover into a long-bladed short spear or a long iklwa.

Dust Functions: Passover’s head, in which the blade is set, carries slots for dust, allowing Yasha to make arching dust attacks that follow the scythe blade’s motion.  While Yasha could use any dust type, he prefers to use kinetic dust to effectively extend the blade’s reach

History: When Passover was made, as well as under what circumstances it was made, is totally unknown to nearly all but Yasha.  Yasha’s affiliates note that Yasha possessed the weapon even before he joined them in their enterprises, but how much earlier, none can say.  However, ever since Yasha’s elevation in the public eye as a hero of the people, he has kept a distance from being personally involved in criminal operations, and as a result, Passover has seen little use.  Nonetheless, when Yasha wields Passover, there can be no doubt that there will be much blood spilt.

Airi saw Aurelia charging at her, rebounding using Fateweaver's threads.  Additionally, Lyra perceived that her time remnant was creeping up close to her, so Aurelia's immediate plan was not hard to deduce.  Airi got ready, waiting for the right time to respond.  Then, she hastily leaping to the side to narrowly avoid the imminent body slam, just as her 2-second time remnant approached her took her place.  She then accelerated her 5-second time remnant forward to herself.  As it fast-forwarded and became co-located with the 2-second time remnant, the one prior in time suddenly took physical form as a stasis anomaly out of place in the normal reference timeframe.  The time remnant's rendition of Fateweaver's threads, also now solid and immovable, held Aurelia in a death grip, its coil being exactly where the real Fateweaver's thread had just been moments before.

Airi got up off the floor and looked at Aurelia, whose neck was held completely immobile.  "No one uses my semblance against me," she said in a cold and menacing warning.  She then accelerated the remaining time remnant, causing it to also merge into the now-physically-manifested 2-second time remnant, ensuring that Aurelia would be locked in place for several seconds more.  With this, Airi moved towards around Aurelia's unarmed side to her rear side, Fateweaver-Prime's thread still tight around Aurelia's neck. Staying light on her feet, she then used Fateweaver to create a very large kinetic blast aimed at Aurelia back.  The blast would push Aurelia's torso forwards, yet Airi's immobilized neck would be going nowhere, ensuring that, at the minimum, Aurelia was going to suffer massive whiplash, if she didn't already have it.  At the same time, Airi, having taken care to be light, let herself be launched back by the recoil of the kinetic dust blast, causing Fateweaver's-Prime's thread to tighten even more.  Airi was adding to the whiplash by strangling Aurelia between the threads of the Past-Fateweaver and Fateweaver-Prime.

Lyra watched as the grunts were frozen by Sovereign.  She nodded briefly at him and brought her two wall constructs together, completely smashing the immobilized grunts, who were unable to escape.  The grunts fell to the ground, and Lyra simply watched as they did so.  All that remained was Greatsword Girl, but even she, too, seemed to be under control.  Responding to Sovereign's question as to whether they were alright, she did not speak but merely nodded.  Turning her attention back to Greatsword Girl, Lyra recalled her constructs and slowly directed them towards the remaining opponent.
