Post by: Dr. Gustave on June 09, 2017, 11:24:37 PM
CHARACTER

Name: Malina "Stinger Butt" Nahualli

Age: 24, born Saaral 16th, 57 AC.

Gender and Species: Female human

Symbol:Sina'an

Occupations: Huntress/Teaching Assistant at Beacon Academy

Appearance: 5’7” 142 lbs. Malina has short dark hair, coming down just far enough to reach her shoulders, with several raspberry colored highlights in it and purple eyes with a heart-shaped face. She usually wears her hair down, but will sometimes put it into a bun before a combat mission. She, like most Alapelagians, has a darker skin tone than the Valish. While most inhabitants of Vale have a milky white skin tone, she has a beige-mocha skin tone.

While Malina did have her own combat outfit when she entered Beacon, she continually redesigned it throughout the years she spent at the school, eventually leading to what she has now. Her current attire is a more simplified version of one of her first designs, and keeps some of the main aspects. Starting from the bottom, she has very dark, almost black, purple, shin high steel-toe boots with a golden trim. Above the boots, she has a dark skirt that reaches down to just above her knees and at the top it is connected to a similarly dark corset. The corset, like the boots, have a golden trim around it, though it also has several sets of aztecan symbols strewn about it, colored a light raspberry red as well as a central gem trimmed in gold and colored the same as the symbols. The gem itself is shaped like her symbol, with the gaps between shapes filled in with a golden colored metal.

Underneath the corset, she wears a comfortable, long-sleeve, white shirt and on top of the corset, she has a light jacket it on. The jacket, corset, and undershirt all part toward the bottom to make room for the weapon attached to her lower back. The jacket itself is mostly the raspberry color with golden trims and golden aztecan symbols running along arms and back. The jacket only hangs down to just past her waist and the sleeves stop about 3/4ths of the way down the arm.

Malina, being no stranger to accessories, has a few essential and nonessential accessorizations to go along with her outfit. During the colder winter months of Vale, or during trips to Atlas, Malina has dark wrappings that she can wrap around her legs up to her thighs and long gloves to slip onto her hands to cover up better. When truly cold temperatures roll around, she has a long jacket from her old days infused with some fire dust to keep her warm.

Although she doesn’t need a belt, she still keeps one wrapped around her waist. On her left hip is a small magnetic lock for her to be able to easily and quickly holster her staff. Toward the back of her left side is a second holster, though this one more traditional, to hold a small handgun in case of emergencies. On her right side are several pouches attached to the belt to help her store Dust canisters, with a larger satchel toward the back of her right side in case she needs to store anything larger than the canisters. The belt itself a dark colored, nearly black, leather and it has a relatively simple golden belt buckle.

Around her neck she wears a necklace, given to her by her mother, with her symbol hanging in a circle at the end. The chain and ring around the symbol are a pale gold color while the symbol is clear with a pale blue tint. For rainier days, the jacket has a small hood that can be buttoned onto it, though it doesn’t do much good if it starts raining if she’s already left her room. In addition, her being an assistant at Beacon led her to change out her jacket for a small cloak when she’s in the classroom, as long as it isn’t part of combat class.

History:
Pre-Beacon: ShowHide
Malina was born in Toltecatl of the Coastal-Nation of Alapelagias. Her mother was one of the priestesses of Inogir, previously a huntress, and her father was an elite hunter who had been permanently stationed in Toltecatl due to his marriage. From a young age she was interested in hunters and her mother’s work with Dust and aura, though in the beginning she didn’t want to become a Huntress. Her mother and father were quick to encourage the life of danger much to Malina’s initial dismay. Despite this, Malina eventually caved, either under the pressure of her mother or under the desperation to be loved, and began to strive toward becoming a huntress.

When Malina came of age to enter Harbor Academy, Alapelagias’ primary school, she excelled at her studies and surpassed most of her classmates. At the end of her first year, she had ended up in the top 10% of her class and was very knowledgeable of Dust and Aura for a girl her age. The second year at Harbor marked the beginning of basic combat training. Malina, like all students was given a chance to both design her own weapon and her own armor. She chose to model her weapon off of the staves she had seen around the Temple of Inogir, with a few modifications of her own and a dust based assault system, and her armor after her own mother’s old Huntress as requested by her mother. During the year, Malina was able to have her aura unlocked, her semblance discovered, and excelled at combat sparring with other students. She did so well, in fact, that she brought herself up to the top 5% of the class upon the end of the year.

During the summer break, her father, while back from a hunting mission, pulled her aside to talk to her. He told her that because of her high scoring tests at school, she was selected to be given the chance to take part in the Pseudo-Faunus project, a project started by the high council of Alapelagias to provide high achieving youth with combat augmentations in early life. In order to advance the Alapelagian people in general, people with high combat skills were given cybernetic versions of faunus parts from both existing faunus and nonexistent faunus. Malina chose to accept the offer and was taken to the capital city in order to receive the part of her choosing. In the end, she chose a scorpion tail with interchangeable poison chambers and named it “Manticore”. Upon returning to Toltecatl, she was put into a special class along with others who were offered the same augmentation and accepted. In the class they were taught both the more advanced combat, like all of the other students, but also how to properly use their individual augmentations. While she didn’t outperform the other students in her class as she had the previous years, she still did well and received special tutoring from her father when he was home from his missions, as infrequent as that was.

At the end of the year she told her parents that she wanted to go Beacon Academy in Vale. Her parents told her that if she were to be accepted into the Academy, they would pay for her trip over as well as send her monthly supplies of Dust and Foci, if she needed it. Upon hearing this, she wrote out her application, send in her combat reports, and waited. Eventually, a message came for her from Vale stating that she had been accepted. Elated, Malina began to pack immediate for her ride over, once she was packed and ready she said her farewells to her parents and boarded an airship headed to Vacuo. Once in Vacuo, she transited onto a large boat for the rest of her journey. Once she finally arrived in Vale, she boarded an airship and stepped onto the property of the prestigious Beacon Academy.

Personality: WiP

Combat Behavior:
Subject to Change: ShowHide
Malina is almost always an offensive fight, being the first to strike and usually the faster. She is very fast on her feat despite having a large cybernetic scorpion's tail attached to her and can use it will moving making her a deadly opponent to face. Back in Alapelagias, Malina was personally tutored by her father, and elite hunter, and was taught many important skills as quick combat tactics and plans as well as more advanced combat moves. She is also advanced in using propulsion dust to move around the battlefield. She takes pride in her combat skills and constantly tries to improve the faults she has. Despite lacking in the skill of defensive tactics, Malina is surprisingly proficient at first strike counters and can use her semblance as a defensive measure.
- Skilled in offensive combat
- Fast and Agile
- Full control of Manticore
- Skilled strategist
- Tries to improve her faults
- Smart
- Proficient at countering
- Very skilled in Dust application
- Skilled with her semblance

While Malina is skilled at fighting on the offensive she is extremely unskilled at being put on the defensive, she will often lash out at the wrong times while fighting on the defensive. She is prideful, which can get her into some bad situations. While having powerful close combat strikes, thanks to her weapon, Malina is extremely bad at fighting in hand-to-hand combat. She is very arrogant when fighting others. Manticore is hooked up to her nerves and as such any severe hits to it will be painful for Malina.
- Poor defensive skills
- Reduced judgmental skills when on defensive
- Prideful
- Poor hand-to-hand (Non-weapon) combat skills
- Cannot defend well against long range
- Can be overconfident in matches
- If Malina is without Dust, she is more vulnerable.
- Braggart

Aura and Semblance: Malina’s aura was unlocked at Harbor academy in Alapelagias. Once unlocked, it became a bright red color that extended out from her. Soon after, she was in a sparring match with another student who had their aura unlocked and during the fight she discovered her semblance.

She has the ability to send out her aura in a concussive blast outward ten meters in all directions than can cause others to get knocked far back and even knocked out. The aura moves at a quick enough speed to deflect small caliber bullets and and thrown projectiles as well as close range attacks but larger caliber bullets moving at a faster speed and still pass through, although they will be thrown off course. The wave of aura disrupts energy weapons when coming in contact with them. Malina can use her semblance ten times before she begins to severely slow down and fifteen before she passes out from aura exhaustion. She most often quickly swipes her hand horizontally through the air before launching her aura but can launch it without any movement.

Malina was taught from a young age by her mother on the properties of Dust and aura, and as such she became a caster. She has the ability to augment her semblance with Dust in order to cause more massive hits.
Fire Dust causes the aura dome to be set alight and leave a trail of fire where it passed over, aside from on Malina.
Ice Dust can cause temporary ice dust to form in the wave's wake, cause a protective ice dome to form around Malina, or for ice projectiles to be launched outward. (These same properties are shared with Earth Dust and Malina can swap which effect happens.)
Electric Dust causes the aura dome to become electrified and, if it hits something conductive, will spread the electricity throughout it and outward.
Repulsion Dust causes the concussive nature of the semblance to increase tenfold.
(Power up?)

WEAPON

Name: Manticore

Primary Form:
Subject to Change: ShowHide
A large, dark purplish-black, cyber-organic, scorpion tail; made of a carbonized steel that was forged in Alapelagias and attached to her nerves in her lower back between her second and third year at Harbor. Along the tail are several segments that can spin individually of each other. Along the tail are several bladed segments that stick out, on both sides, off of the “spine” of the tail, which are retractable for when she wraps it around her waist. On the base of the tail, where the cybernetics connect to the nerves, the plating is still navy blue but has been painted over to match the rest of the tail. On the end of the tail is a pointed tip that can be loaded with multiple kinds of poisons. The stinger itself is shaped like a scorpion’s stinger and is serrated so that anything it stabs into will have a hard time getting out. Malina has full control over the tail and usually uses it for fast sweeping attacks or jabs although it can be used to capture someone or something, by wrapping around them, or block hits. Blocking hits, however, is dangerous as the joints of Manticore are it’s weak-points. When she is not using the tail it is wrapped around her waist. The stinger itself is made to be able to penetrate most metals.

Venom Types:
Heavy Heartbeat: Paralyzing anywhere from a limb to the entire body for a short period of time depending on the dosage of poison used.
Love Me Not: Able to numb parts of the body and ease pain.
Whiplash: Once hit, the victim will experience intense pain in the area of contact, followed by numbness, loss of consciousness, and finally death.
Long Farewell: The poison takes up to several hours to take effect and once it down, it quickly incapacitates and kills the victim..
Goodnight Kiss: Able to knock out someone for up to an hour.
Empty Chamber: For non-poisoned strikes.

Dust Function:
Fire Dust - The tail gains a fiery aura and will burn things it touches (Malina and her clothing withstanding).
Ice Dust - The tail turns a pale blue with an icy texture and whatever it lashes out against freezes up (Malina and her clothing withstanding).
Lightning Dust - The tail becomes electrified with sparks shooting out it. Whatever it touches is shocked with electricity (Malina and her clothing withstanding).
Propulsion Dust - Movement speed of the tail is increased.
Repulsion Dust - Whatever hits the tail is bounced backward away from it.

Name of Secondary: Teocuitentli

Teocuitentli: ShowHide
(http://i.giphy.com/l4KhRdwa1idxWiouI.gif)

Primary Form: Bladed Dust Staff - Teocuitentli's primary form takes the image of a 5’11” dark purple, metal staff with golden rimmed edges. At the top of the staff, the metal forks and splits into a curved Y look, in the image of a scorpion’s pincers. From the area where the staff splits to the tip of the pincers is one foot. On the sides of each pincer is a blade, allowing the weapon to be used for sweeping attacks or jabs as well as blunt strikes with the non-bladed bottom and top of the pincers. The bottom of the staff features a bladed replica of a scorpion’s tail and stinger, which is 11 inches long and can be loaded with the same poison as Manticore. The staff itself can be loaded with dust which is then stored in the pincers. When needed, Malina can use her aura in tandem with the dust and weapon to shoot out of small holes in the pincers, causing it to act as a “double barreled” Dust-Thrower. Dust shot out of the pincers can shoot out as far as 10 meters and can be used with any type of dust. Alternatively, she can fire dust missiles for a long range attack.

Secondary Form: Spear

Tertiary Form: Tonfas

Quaternary Form: Bladed Dust Chime - In the exact middle of the staff, there is a foot long cylinder, wider than the rest of the staff, with a trigger extending out of it. When pressed, the staff collapses, similar to a telescope, and folds down to fit the shaft inside of the cylinder, leaving only the pincers extending out of the top. On the bottom, the scorpion tail also folds in on itself, leaving only the stinger extending out of the bottom. In this form is still possible to use the dust attacks however the dust supply is severely more limited. This is the form Malina uses when out of combat as it attaches to a horizontal holster on her left hip.

Dust Function:
Fire Dust - The staff acts as a flamethrower.
Ice Dust - The staff shoots out ice dust particles that activate after coming into contact with something.
Lightning Dust - The staff can shoot out bolts of electricity.
Propulsion Dust - The staff can shoot out bursts of propulsion dust so that Malina can shoot around the battlefield.
Repulsion Dust - The staff shoots out a cloud of dust that, when hit, causes the repulsion dust to activate and make the object bounce away. This dust has significantly less range, only reaching a few feet in front of the tip of the pincers.

The staff can also use combinations of dust to create firestorms, hail, and so on. However, for large attacks like these Malina is required to use a great deal of concentration and is required to stand still while "powering up". Attacks like these are very hard to pull of in single combat. For close range fighting, Malina can use it like a twin blade or Bo Staff.

History: Due to being near of the top of her class in Harbor, Malina was given the chance to receive a cybernetic enhancement as a new weapon. She agreed and Manticore was attached to her lower back. While in Harbor, Malina, like most students, made her own weapon. When she made Teocuitentli, she modeled it after the staves she saw around the Temple of Inogir but added her own personal twist to it. (Further additions made throughout Beacon life)

So far, I've noticed one extremely problematic thing with this profile. I don't know how anyone could even think of making this public without considering what you didn't.

Quote
Goodnight Kiss: Able to knock out someone for up to an hour.

The name Goodnight Kiss implies that the target would be laying down for a good nights worth of sleep. However, they're only knocked out for up to an hour with this variation of venom. Are you a fucking madlad? I think I can speak for the entire approval team when I say messing with an opponent's sleep schedule AND having a deceptive poison name like that is a little too much. I suggest you change the name to properly reflect the nature of the ability. Something along the lines of "You-Have-To-Wake-Up-At-5-For-Combat-Training-But-Oh-Well-Fuck-Your-Sleep-Schedule-Amirite". This is honestly a newbie mistake, and I thought you would have yielded better results considering your amount of time here. Smh, tbh.

Malina isn't CyberBane.
