Title: Active [VCVS]
Post by: Zwei Not on February 22, 2017, 10:09:25 AM
The training halls were near desolate this early in the morning. Granted, this was to be expected. Nobody wanted to get up at 5:00 AM on a saturday, especially not to fight people. Nevertheless, Juno found the time and date appropriate. The trio, soon to be quartet, could use all the space they could get for the induction of their new member, young faunus by the name of Cerise Carnelian. True, she had already been assigned to them, but they hadn't actually had the opportunity to meet the girl.

Having already dragged his teammates out of bed and into the training hall, all Juno was waiting for was Cerise. As time passed, Juno questioned if he had sent the proper time and date of her informal initiation, though the hall was definitely an iconic location. Maybe she was just moving slowly? Should he let it slide if she wound up late?

Numerous further questions burrowed their way into  Juno's train of thought as he sat on the sparring field, intently focusing on the hall's entrance. Training hall at 5:00 AM. It's 4:50. She won't be late. She shouldn't be late. We'll be fine. She better not be late. Caja wasn't late.

Juno cursed himself at the thought. Cerise wasn't Caja. She wasn't going to be Caja. Caja was gone, the injuries sustained from their fight with Cerdic having ended her career. She wasn't their teammate anymore, and he needed to accept that.

Still... Being able to see her around more often would be nice.

Today wasn't going so great.

It was all planned out, Samuel had got his schedule relatively set up for once, everything was gonna be good. A nice, relaxing day where he'd work on some of the projects he'd sidelined, he'd play a bit of guitar, maybe spend a few hours sleeping on the ceiling or somewhere that would make his teammates jump. But no, of cooourse not, because first thing as soon as a slither of light had appeared he was quite literally pushed off his bed and told that there was a 5am training session.

Five in the morning.

Despite having the importance of it explained, team bonding, initiation yadda yadda he didn't give much of a secondhand shit. He needed his sleep, damnit all. He hadn't even had time to fix up more than a meager sum of leftover coffee, which was disgusting. Vile. Filthy. He'd spent the whole time fixing Ashen Howl to himself, the clunky thing to attach it was. His semblence wasn't helping things with the gradually improving amount of information it constantly gave him; painkillers did many things, but dull aura was not one of them. Samuel hadn't even bothered to wrap his chains properly; they were drooping around him in a slight mess of rungs, slowly shuffling about as he refused to even lean against a wall and just sat on the floor where the group had stopped.

"Juno... can you explain to me again why we are at the training rooms at the asscrack of dawn? You couldn't wait for, you know, a half-decent hour when I've had sleep or coffee, preferably both? Actually, funny mentioning crack, because that's you. I'm calling you an ass." Samuel stated, bandage still over his covered eye. It was fairly obvious he'd been hiding something there for a while, but he still hadn't quite worked up the trust or energy to show the rest of his team it, yet. The implant was somewhat necessary to show; he occasionally needed some assistance with the clunky Ashen Howl or just reattachment, but that wasn't quite such a sight.

Grumbling quietly to himself, he took out his scroll, flicking through music tracks. He needed something playing now to help him get through this without falling asleep or attempting to murder someone.

Verdant was stretching out onto the training mat wondering about why his team would meet so early in the morning. He didn't have a problem with it because when he lived in the forests, he would wake up at the crack of dawn every day. However, the rest of the team probably didn't wake share in his habits. He wondered what his new teammate would be like, he couldn't help it but he expected Cerise to be like Caja in a way.

Verdant was friends with Caja sure but Juno was the one who was the most hurt after Caja's preemptive "retirement." Verdant hoped that Juno wouldn't expect Cerise to be the new Caja.

Verdant stopped and turned to look at Samual "Juno is just trying to make a good impression. Most teams don't need to change a roster like this; we just need to take the time to get situated."

Rubbing her eyes and trying not to look like she'd woken up at three in the morning, Cerise made her way to the training hall, slightly shaking from how nervous she was. And maybe the large amount of caffeine she'd ingested, that too. But mostly because she was about to meet her team, and not only did she want to make a good impression, she also didn't want to be late. Unfortunately there'd been a setback where she'd accidentally taken a right instead of a left a ways back. Now, she made sure to shake her writing hand to make sure.

During the walk, Cerise reviewed what she already knew about the team. Name, VCVS, consisted of Verdant Cowl, Samuel Quartz, and the leader, Juno... Juno something-that-started-with-a-V. Replacing Caja Aval. And that was it. She would check her scroll to be sure, but currently 'A Short History of Nearly Everything' was occupying the hand that wasn't lugging her suitcase behind. Seeing as she hadn't gotten a chance to meet her new teammates, much less visit the dorm room she'd be staying in, Cerise still had no place to put it. Lovely.

At that moment, Cerise found herself in the training hall. Late by fifteen minutes. Cursing her inability to even follow a map and even more Beacon's size, she looked around, taking a guess that the three male students that were intently looking at the entrance were her teammates. If not, well, it would be very awkward. Doing her best to still her shaking hands, Cerise walked over to the three, awkwardly closing her book with one hand in the meanwhile. "Would you three happen to be Samuel, Verdant, and Juno? If so, I'm Cerise Carnelian, your new teammate." She set her suitcase to stand, extending her now free hand in the direction of the three, hoping that the leader would shake her hand first, cluing her in to who Juno was. Even more, she was hoping that the three would not leave her hanging or mention the fact that she was a little late.

She was late. Fifteen minutes. A quarter of an hour. The team leader was uncharacteristically quiet as he had waited, ignoring his bickering teammates behind him as he focused on the entrance to the hall. When Caja's replacement finally found her way before them, Juno stood up, a somewhat relaxed look on his face as he shook the girl's hand. "Juno Vert. It's nice to meet you in person, Cerise." he replied, the slightest bit of irritation in his voice. You would think that a new member would try to maintain punctuality in their first meeting with their team.

Taking a moment to pull his hand back and cross his arms, Juno continued to speak, his violet eyes scanning the girl in front of him. "I'm not going to lie, you have some shoes to fill. I don't expect you to be like our previous member, but I do expect you to be able to adapt to and work with us. If you can do that, we'll get along smooth as silk. Compris?"

"Bah, I get the point Ver. He's still an ass." Samuel replied, giving a sigh. Despite Caja and him not getting on particularly well most of the time, what with him being a faunus, they had eventually made some semblance of a friendship - even if it was just formed on who could come up with the most creative insult - and he would miss the- actually, he probably shouldn't think or say that in Juno's presence, he'd probably get the shit beaten out of him.

As the group waited, the hunter-in-training put his head down and shut his eyes, not quite dozing off but not quite paying attention either. Hearing the slight shuffling of Juno, he gave a small but hidden grin as their team leader seemed to get a bit impatient - served him right for asking for the session so early. Maybe he'd have a teammate-in-arms for long naps. Long naps were awesome. So was coffee, and he hadn't had either. He shouldn't keep going on about it, but there was one damn thing he needed in the mornings and it was his daily dosage of caffeine, they could've just gone without him and he'd catch up.

Maybe.

So, hearing the footsteps echo down the corridor, separate from the sluggish steps of zombie-like people making their way down to the dining hall, Samuel stretched out his arms, a few clicks heard as he got to his feet. He watched Cerise enter, his eye lazily looking over her as he took her appearance in. Dark skin, not-quite-straight hair, relatively lithe figure and oddly dark blue eyes. To be honest, in comparison to half the people around here, she seemed relatively normal; Beacon seemed to be a magnet for people with odd hair and eye colours, or- well, people who didn't quite look right. A slightly pained look crossed his face for a moment, before he went back to taking her in. Slight fidgeting, not quite meeting anyone's eyes, leaning to the side a bit...

He winced at Juno's tone and followup. Damn, man, she was just nervous. Hell, he could hear the shaking. One of the chains moving to poke said ass in the back of the head, he gave a small wave before holding the same hand out. "Yo. Samuel here. Ignore by-the-book there, it's nice to meet you." He stated simply, giving his best attempt at a smile. Despite wanting to make their new member a little more relaxed, he still wasn't the best at social interaction. Or, well, second best. Or third. Or...

Well, either way, he'd tried.

Verdant looked over at Cerise who from what he could tell was probably just as nervous as he was to meet each other. He looked her over quickly as Juno and Samual greeted her first, she was pretty, but that didn't mean anything about what a person is realy like, he thought. When Juno and Samual were done welcoming and in Juno's case "welcome" was sarcastic, Verdant saw it was his turn.

"Hi, I'm Verdant Cowl a Huntsman, but you could probably guess that." He laughed nervously. "Sorry, I'm bad with first impressions, but everyone kind of is, you know?", Verdant said with a smile. Hellos are always hard but she will probably just think that I'm nervous like surely is.

Such warm welcomes. Especially from Juno Vert, her new leader. The others were fine, and responded to them politely, shaking hands where she needed to and all. But Juno... she could just tell how much he was looking forwards to her being on the team. Cerise started to revert back to her usual self once more, straightening her posture and narrowing her eyes ever so slightly. She hid her shaking hands behind her back, clasping them tightly together. Her defense mechanisms started up, already thinking of fancy words and condescending phrases she could use. No way in hell was Cerise actually going to explain why she was late.

"I completely understand." Cerise responded, really hoping that compris meant 'understand' or something of the like and context clues didn't fail her. "I couldn't possibly dream of compensating fully for Caja Aval, but I will do my best to counterpoise her absence." Keeping expressionless, she continued on, still hopefully subtly showing exactly how she felt about Juno's welcoming words. "Apologies for my late arrival. I hope the moratorium of your usual activities wasn't too lengthy. I don't live nearby, so the train ride seemed interminable to me as well. In hindsight, maybe it would've been better to arrive in Vale a few days prior, to be sagacious. Sorry."

Done with her bitchy routine, Cerise brightened up slightly, standing on the tips of her toes for a second before lowering back down to show she was excited, though still not smiling. In the back of her head, she noted that she seemed to be the shortest of the four. "Anyway, nice to meet you all. I'm sure our time together will be sublime, if of course I adapt and work well." Clearing her throat, Cerise suddenly realized that she had no idea what else to say. Nothing good at least. And as they, whoever they were, said, if you didn't have anything nice to say, you shouldn't say anything at all. Problem was, 'they' didn't mention that if you didn't have anything to say, you were probably already a social wreck and being silent would only heighten the awkwardness of the situation.

So, Cerise waited for the rest of the team to hopefully come up with something better to talk about. Like... cheese. Or something. In the meanwhile, Cerise peeked out from under the hair that was slowly creeping to cover her face, trying to glean as much information as she could without it seeming like she was staring creepily. They all looked pretty normal, except for Juno's very... bright... hair and eye color. Otherwise, she only noticed that Verdant had especially muscled arms, which in truth didn't give her that much information. Most weapons you held with your arms. Samuel had a bandage over his eye, nothing there except that maybe he was a pirate. Or something. And he had a bunch of chains drooping around. Weapon or questionable fashion choice? Cerise was then reminded of her own weapons, wrapped loosely in cloth, strapped to the side of her suitcase. She turned a little to check if they were still strapped on, which they were.

Well then. If it was a duel of egos she wanted, a duel of egos it would be.

As the girl before her spoke, Juno narrowed his eyes, analyzing and scrutinizing everything he could collect about her. The lofty speech style, her appearance, the fact that she was carrying a suitcase of all things... Most Beacon students live on the grounds. Why would she need one of those?

Oh.

Oh, gods, she was new. The way she carried herself should have been enough of a tell on its own, with the mention of her living far outside of Vale nearly cementing that theory. Seeing as how he had just taken a massive, steaming dump all over any overtly friendly interaction for the next several hours, if not days, Juno breathed deeply through his nose, then exhaled from his mouth. Impatience did weird things to him, and he could stand to calm down. Of course, who knew what damage was done after such a lovely first impression. He'd have to talk with her later.

"I trust you will, Cerise. You're good enough to have gotten into this school, after all." he stated, relaxing his posture and following her gaze back to her suitcase. "Grab your weapon, choose a sparring partner. If you need to stretch, feel free to do so." he commanded, not just to the girl before him, but to the entire team. By now, the irritation prevalent in his voice was gone, though his impatience remained as he strode toward one of the mats and gestured toward Cerise, hoping she would follow.

Samuel gave out a barking laugh at Cerise's comment and Juno's widened eyes in response to it. Well, damn, it wasn't too far from Caja after all in terms of first impressions; still just as argumentative. Putting an arm over Juno's shoulder, he looked at his team leader with a... sad look? "Rest in piece, bro." He said in a voice that could almost be described as sombre, if not for the grin that threatened to break through the mock look on his face and the amusement tinging the statement. Giving another small laugh, he moved back to where he was, looking the newbie over.

Thinking about it, newbie was probably accurate; if she didn't live in Beacon already then she must be totally new. Maybe he'll get compared to her instead of Verdant and Juno, so he can take even more naps in lessons. Then again, she does seem kind of a know-it-all; he'll probably get a few weeks of extra shuteye at most before she catches up. Drat. With a slight blue tinge to the bandage, he took a slightly closer look.

Huh. Shade of red, nice on the eyes, and the vague notes he could hear from being around her so far sounded nice. Bit of guitar and drums in there. He could live with that - possibly a bit more than the near-endless crashing drums from Caja's aura. You would've thought such a quiet person would have a quiet theme, but nooooo.

Taken out of his inspection by Juno's short commands, he blinked a few times, the bandage returning to normal, and raised an eyebrow. Well, someone was grumpy. Not that Samuel wasn't himself, it's just his mood had improved a bit from seeing the reason behind said grumpiness become more grumpy in what can only be described as grump-karma.

...sounds like some kind of messed-up urban dictionary term. Best not to search that up later.

"Welp, you heard boss." Samuel murmured, looking over at the last member of the team. "Up for a spar, Ver?"

Verdant looked at Samual to respond to his previous inquiry, "Sure I'll spare you, but I want to see how Cerise fights first."

He was curious how this new member of his team was in combat then he would like to fight her later. Verdant was sure that everyone on the team wanted to fight her eventually but Juno should fight her first. Verdant turned to Juno, "Juno I think that you and Cerise should fight because Samuel and I are both specialty fighters, so to get a real show off how Cerise fights she should fight you an all round fighter."

Verdant turned and looked to Juno in an inquisitive matter. "Or do you want Samual and I can spare first if you want to talk to our new team mate?"

Cerise blinked at Juno, hesitating momentarily. Well, she was here in the training hall. She'd have to demonstrate her combat skills to her team sooner or later. Lovely, another moment where she had to prove herself to her teammates. Well, at least combat wasn't as hard as social interaction. What if she did terribly though? Unlikely, as Juno said, even though he didn't seem to be complimenting her, she did get into Beacon. Time to not screw up.

As confidently as she could, Cerise turned to unstrap her weapons from her suitcase, carefully removing the cloth they were wrapped in. The left she slipped in its sheath, the right she held to start off with. Cerise turned it around in her hands for a few moment before making her way over to Juno and the mat he was standing beside. "Alright. I'm up for a quick demonstration of my skills in combat. Sounds like Verdant and Samuel agree with you too." She turned her falchion around in her hand a few more times, a habit she had. A nervous tick, to be specific. "So?"
Title: Re: Active [VCVS]
Post by: Zwei Not on February 25, 2017, 03:25:03 PM
Juno offered a simple nod as the girl drew her weapons and joined him on the rather large sparring mat. The falchion in her hand was a good clue into her fighting style, though he couldn't make too many assumptions. Some weapons did transform, after all. Nevertheless, he continued to study the girl as he paced on his end of the mat. "This match will end when one fighter concedes, or stays down for more than three seconds. Fight begins whenever you're ready." He said as he stopped pacing and turned to face her.

Once he had put the terms to begin their sparring match in her hands, the leader of VCVS dropped into a primarily defensive stance. His weight shifted to his back leg as he brought both hands up at about shoulder level, allowing him to decently cover his upper body. His hands were open, but his fingers were curled, as though he was considering forming a fist. All the while, he stared the girl down, searching for any slight flinch, a shuffle, a twitch of some body part that could help him predict her first move.

Right. Wait and watch the other two, see how the new member fights. Perfectly logical reasoning, in Samuel's mind, but simultaneously perfectly boring. Juno didn't even reply to Verdant's inquiry, so it was fairly certain which of the two options he supported. "Ah, right, yea. So when I offer a practice match nothing happens, but every time Juno tries to drag me out here always have to work..." The disgruntled teen murmured, before letting out a prolonged sigh.

"Fine. Whatever. Have fun. I'm going to do some coding." He stated, taking out his grey scroll and opening it up, flicking through icons and files to get to QuiL. The coding language was obnoxiously named, in his opinion, but the pun was appreciated among the annoyance of the deceptively simple language. If it wasn't so flexible in application, he probably wouldn't even bother, but now he had access to said device it was obviously advantageous to learn how they worked. Maybe it'd come in useful sometime.

Still mumbling annoyed comments under his breath, Samuel moved over out of the way of the battle-to-be and sat down again, starting to type on his device as he paid half-attention to what was going on otherwise.

Posting order out the window 'cus it might be a while before we're done sparring if Rush and I stick to it. Rush is fine w/ it as well.

Cerise nodded at Juno's guidelines, noting that he shifted into a defensive stance. Good. She usually went offensive anyway. At first, she slipped into a defensive stance at well, to try to throw him off, though Cerise knew that the time it would take to charge would give him plenty of time to ready himself. Even so, she did it anyway, before breaking into a run and charging at Juno. As soon as she got into range, Cerise made a number of slashes with her falchion, first high, then low, then diagonal, in a clockwise-ish motion. Immediately following, she nimbly stepped back out of range, sword raised defensively.

The moment the girl rushed toward him, Juno brought a fist to his open palm, summoning a sword of his own, attempting to parry the incoming strikes. The first one was relatively easy to block, though the low strike caught him by surprise, striking his leg and forcing him on the defensive, stepping back as he parried the remaining two attacks. He didn't expect her to fall back so soon, however, as he had anticipated more of an attack. Nevertheless, he didn't simply let this moment pass him by, as he flexed his free hand, inching toward the girl as a large gauntlet was constructed around the hand not currently bearing a sword.

Once he deemed himself close enough, he lunged at the girl, swinging high with the sword and following with a punch to her gut, hoping that the first strike would divert her attention enough to let the gut punch slip by.

Fancy weapon. Hardlight by the looks of it. Adaptable. Hard to predict. And heading towards her face. Cerise quickly met Juno's sword with her own, taking the punch to the gut as well. Oomph. Ignoring that, she proceeded to grab ahold of Juno's gauntlet arm, though not the gauntlet itself of course, lest it transformed into a sword and skewered her hand. No, she grabbed his upper forearm, before pulling herself forwards, trying to jerk Juno slightly behind, slamming the hilt of her falchion in his face, then performing a kick to put a little distance between them, backing up herself a bit as well. With this distance, Cerise extended her falchion into its polearm form, readying herself for Juno's counters. Of course maybe it would've been a good idea to use the proximity to try pinning Juno down, but it was a little crude, not guaranteed to work, and also, the match wasn't for winning, to see who was better. It was to demonstrate her skills. And she would.
Title: Re: Active [VCVS]
Post by: Zwei Not on March 04, 2017, 10:31:55 PM
Juno didn't expect her to react so quickly to his weaponry, and while he was able to block the incoming falchion with the guard of his own blade, the kick to his stomach was much less easily circumvented due to her grip on his forearm, allowing her to strike him square in the chest.

Not bad.

Of course, he wasn't entirely impressed, either. He knew he was holding back, and could only hope that she was as well. Of course, ramping things up a bit couldn't hurt. The girl seemed to have a similar idea, too, what with the sudden mode change in her weapon. Sword to Falchion. Interesting. Polearm is good for reach, but not so much up close. the young man thought to himself as he shifted his grip on his blade, now holding it in a backhand form. She had potential for a solid defense with that glaive, but he had the element of surprise. He just had three slots to capitalize on it.

A flick of the wrist was all it took to construct a disk beneath his gauntlet covered hand, and a swing of his arm was what sent it flying toward the girl. However, midway through its path toward her torso, the disk split into two, arcing in opposing directions, yet converging onto their target.

[4 slots active, 1 open, 0 charging]

Keeping one eye on the goings-on of the battle, Samuel mumbled to himself quietly as he tapped in on the keyboard of his scroll. He'd have to go over the code later, not really putting his mind to it properly, but it was a good distraction while he observed the fight starting up. Cerise had gone in fast and hard, showing that at the very least she had an idea of how to use the... halberd? Glaive was probably a better term from taking a glance at the shaping of the weapon. The blows seemed to be quite heavy but not too slow; she either had to be a prodigy of some scale, or that fighting style was going to be tiring. The latter was more probable, giving the age of the students on the team, though he hadn't asked for hers - and Juno had drilled just about enough social etiquette into his head that he wouldn't randomly ask her it, either.

At least, while said team leader was around.

Pausing in his coding, he flicked open his internet browser, becoming slightly more interested in the fight. Searching up the name of their new team member, Samuel tried finding some more information about the girl while Juno responded in fashion. He gave a slight sigh as Cerise switched her weapon to a shorter-range mode; while the Falchion would be more agile, from personal experience he wished good luck onto whoever tried fighting Juno in that close of a range. Annoyed as he was with VCVS' leader, that didn't mean the teen was stupid enough to doubt his skill in combat. He was, however, irritated enough to doubt his relative sanity for dragging them all here so freaking early. Relative, in that Beacon probably held far more not-quite-there people being a hotspot of activity for a bunch of combat-trained teenagers.

As the two seemed to get more into the rhythm of the fight, he smirked slightly. Seemed like things were finally getting interesting. Samuel opened up the few webpages that looked promising, and carried on watching the fight. If Cerise really did use a self-exhausting style, he might actually be able to give or get some hints, considering how much his own drained him when he really went for it. Hm. Speaking of, maybe he should try to work out a bit of the anger and stress, and sparring's a good outlet, right?

Fancy, fancy toys. Where the hell did he get them anyway? Students at combat academies tended to end up with fancier toys than you'd think the average person would be able to obtain. Cerise still responded accordingly though, using the reach of the current form to take care of the left disk and give her enough to to take care of the left via kick. Or at least attempt to. The surprise coupled with the speed ended in the right disk nicking her in the back of the shin. Damn toys.

At least she knew that Juno had more than one trick up his sleeve, and how that particular one worked. Juno probably had more of those disks, it'd be a little weird if he just had one. Though how many more and if there were any differences wasn't immediately noticeable.

In response, Cerise charged forwards, taking a wide swing at Juno with her glaive. She kept in mind that if she was met with Juno's blade or gauntlet, to then simply use it as a brace to pull the blade half back and slam the other end towards Juno's midsection. Following, she spun counterclockwise before striking again, aiming lower, then from that gripping the glaive higher up the pole, spinning back and performing a stabbing motion.

(Grab counter granted by Mystic. I apologize for quality)

Juno had to say, despite her lack of punctuality and confidence, the girl was good. He was learning quite a bit by fighting her, and he felt that it was about time he educated her as well. Lesson number one of fighting VCVS Leader Juno Osiris Vert: Do not rush down Juno Osiris Vert.

The blade of the girl's glaive was quickly intercepted with Juno's gauntlet covered hand, though the girl was quick enough to sneak a hit with the staff of the glaive into his midsection. However, such a move left enough of a gap for his retaliation. Seeing as he had one construct available left, Juno let all of his current weapons disperse into nothingness before creating a grappling dart underneath his wrist. In almost no time at all, the dart was sent flying toward the girl's ankle, winding itself around her limb before Juno jerked the line back, bringing Cerice with it. With his opponent imbalanced and being jerked toward him, Juno tightened his stance and reared his fist, letting the line disperse before driving a downward punch into her stomach.

Fancy, fancy toys indeed. As the punch connected, Cerise swung her glaive in a wide arc, trying to use the reach of her weapon to sneak a hit in the meanwhile. Once she hit the ground, Cerise knew that at all costs, she had to keep Juno off of her, and such she took advantage of the proximity to hook Juno's ankle, pulling to try unstabling him and buying time while she rose from the floor. God, not her best moments. But she shook it off anyway, holding her polearm in a defensive pose, deviating from her usual routine.

The girl's wide swing did manage to graze the young man as intended, but it had also gotten his attention, causing him to focus his attention on the girl's glaive. The low sweep was easily mitigated with a simple jump, but his reaction happened to give her enough time to recover. Eh, not like he couldn't finish the fight anyway, but it was a missed opportunity. Nevertheless, Juno watched as she took a defensive stance, only to slip out of his guard entirely and straighten up.

"Alright, I can admit that you are a good fighter." He started, keeping an eye on her blade as he backed up to the edge of the mat. "And I have no doubts that, if we were in a tournament styled match, you would give me a significant run for my money. Now, I'm not calling it quits. I just want to see what you can really do."

"I want you to hit me. As hard as you can."

Cerise stood still for a good few moments after Juno's offer. She wasn't so stupid to think that he was just going to let her hit him free of charge. No way in hell. Unless he had a trick up his sleeve. Of course, it must be it. Some weapon or something along the lines of that. It always happened in the movies. Who knew what the dude had in store.  But fine. She would play his game. Though, maybe not exacrly as he wanted to.

"Your wish," she said, raising her glaive up to prepare for a strike, "is my command." Just as she seemed to start charging forwards, right foot raised slightly, Cerise disappeared, reappearing right in front of Juno. The raised foot was actually in preparation for a back kick, her foot followed by her glaive. Hopefully she surprised her new team leader enough to stop whatever surprise attack he had. She tried to use her semblance again to back off, but it apparently didn't comply with her. That would need to be worked on.

Juno grinned as the girl charged forward, tensing up as she reared to kick him square in the chest. He was ready for any assault she could put out, especially given his newly found semblance. Then she disappeared.

Well. Not quite what he had expected, but he knew how to deal with it. Caja had teleportation as her semblance, and the two had sparred together often. When the girl disappeared from view, Juno instinctively put up his semblance, his purple aura flaring out and bathing the immediate area in a purple light. When she struck him with his foot, he didn't move. He didn't flinch, he wasn't knocked back, and most of all, he wasn't fazed in the slightest. Her incoming glaive was quickly grabbed, his semblance keeping him and his grip sturdy as he reared his fist back and threw a merciless left hook down into her cheek.

Fancy fancy semblance too. He didn't move an inch when she struck, didn't give her any leeway as she tried to retrieve her glaive. Very interesting.

But she was no newbie to combat, and her semblance was interesting too.

As soon as she saw his fist coming at her, Cerise tried her semblance again, moving back to her previous spot at the other edge of the mat. Unfortunately she had to leave her weapon in Juno's hands, but she didn't have much use for it now anyway. The fight had served its purpose, and if it dragged on too long, the weariness that often accompanied her style would soon kick in. "I concede. You are obviously the superior fighter and I cannot bear to continue our sparring match. Even your gaze sends shivers down my spine." All this as she kept a perfectly straight face. "If you would be so kind to return my weapon to me," Cerise said as she held out her hand.

An agitated sigh escaped the young man's lips as the girl before him conceded. That was an out he realized he shouldn't have given her, and technically she had done nothing wrong. However, he was annoyed nonetheless. Planting the blade of the girl's glaive into the ground, Juno crossed his arms. "You are free to retrieve it yourself. I expect more from you next time." he stated flatly as he glared at the girl.

They weren't going to get along very well, and that was something he would have to remedy. A unit that fights amongst itself is a liability, and something he couldn't allow to occur on his team. He had work to do as a leader, yes, but Ver, Sam, and Caja had cooperated with him. Why not Cerise? Shaking his head, Juno stepped off of the mat. "Sam, Ver. You're up. Unless, of course, Cerise would prefer to have a match with either of you."

Cerise crossed over to the other side of the mat, taking back her glaive. "No thanks about the match. My spar with you has simply rendered me terrified. I don't think I will be able to take part in activity of the combat type for months and years to come, that it how much you have affected me, dear leader." Her face emotionless as ever, Cerise made her way to where Samuel and Verdant were sitting, preparing to watch the other two members spar. "Please don't mind me dear teammates," she said referring to the two who had yet to spar. "Don't let my significant scarring from our team leaders substantial might hinder you."

Taking a moment to save the file, Samuel flicked the scroll closed, letting out a quiet yawn. "Yea, yea, I got ya Juno. Fine." Sluggishly pushing himself to his feet, he started heading towards the fighting area, but was interrupted by Cerise's friendly and thoughtful comment towards him and his sparring partner. Pausing for a second, the teen took a few moments to try and think of something witty or some way to defuse the situation a little bit, before simply shrugging. He didn't have the energy to bother right now.

"Sure thing, Cer. Sounds like a plan." Not waiting for a further response, he moved over to the arena, chains sliding along behind him. Reaching to his headphones to start playing a song with a little more rhythm to it for the fight ahead, he began tapping his foot to the beat. "Let's get this show on the road, eh Verdant?" He stated, giving a smile as he drew out Staccato and Encore. Yes, the situation was kinda crappy all around, but at least he could vent a little bit of his frustrations in a fight. Maybe not too many, though - Verdant out of any of his teammates didn't deserve it.

As Verdant got up and walked over to the training area in the middle of the room. He pulled out his bow and took a look at it as he walked to the arena, Verdant didn't do well in close quarter combat and this practice session was entirely close quarters. He had hoped that he wouldn't have to fight in this training session but now he had to, and Verdant was pretty sure he was going to be knocked on his butt.

Verdant got into the starting position across from Samual extending his bow to its full length and got into a combat stance. Preparing for whatever attack Samual threw his way.

"Juno, can you start the fight on our go?" asked Verdant.  "Let's get this over with," Verdant said the second part under his breath.

Juno inhaled deeply as the girl sassed him yet again, letting out an agitated sigh once she left the field. Gods, what did he do to deserve this. Glancing toward Verdant as the archer made his request, Juno spoke.
"Sure. Fight ends when one fighter concedes, is knocked from the field, or stays down for more than three seconds. Begin when you are ready." he stated as he returned his attention to Cerise. The young man closed his eyes and took several deep breaths before approaching the girl; gods knew how quickly she exhausted his patience. If he could resolve this peacefully, then all would be well. Hopefully.

"Cerise, we need to talk." He started, taking his seat on the far end of the bench.

He may have said it from under his breath, but Verdant had apparently forgot exactly what semblance Samuel possessed. Twitching slightly, Samuel let out a long breath, before focusing his visible eye on his teammate. "Not cool, bro." He stated simply, dropping his right sword to the ground with a clank, leaving it hanging on the chain of the other. Raising his hand up, he clicked his fingers together before grasping the air, catching the sound in his hand. He hadn't shown Verdant this particular trick before, so hopefully it should teach him not to trash-talk him right after all the fiascoes that had occurred in the past few weeks. To be honest, the teen was a little bit on edge right now, and now the one guy who didn't normally flame him was. He hadn't said anything purposefully harmful to anyone! Well, maybe except Juno, but come on need that coffee.

Standing still, his right hand began to shake slightly as his aura trickled downwards from the buildup, turning slightly to hide it behind the held blade. He waited for Verdant to make the first move, not taking his sight off the archer. "If you're so anxious to finish already, you can start it, then."

Verdant saw Samual make that ball of aura and then try to hide it, behind his back, with Verdant's semblance he could see Samual make it clear as day.

He decided o go on the defense and drew a concussive arrow to knock Samual out of the area they were fighting.  He notched the arrow and fired it right at Samuel's feet and ran before he saw if it even knocked Samual out and then while running Verdant drew an ice arrow firing it ahead of him to create some sort of cover for himself. Verdant dove behind the cover and yelled out.

"I wanst trying to diss you please don't use that ball thing on me," Verdant said nervously.

Cursing quietly to himself as Verdant notched an arrow, Samuel flicked his left hand, the chain from the bottom of the held sword quickly pulling the other one into the path of the arrow. The blast pushing him away, he skidded backwards before gaining purchase on the floor below him again, blinking as a sudden wall of ice formed.

As Verdant's hurried request carried over the makeshift defense, Samuel gave a lazy grin. "Ah, well, y'see I kind of have to fire it after I've started it up, or else it kind of goes boom on me instead. Happy to charge it a little more, though!" He shouted his reply, his hand starting to quiver slightly from the soundwaves bouncing.

'Maybe I should be somewhat careful where I aim this. Holding it for a bit longer than usual.' The faunus mused, before thinking again over how his day had gone so far. Chains slowly uncoiling from his arms and raising up behind his back, he shrugged to himself.

'Nah.'

Cerise made herself comfy-well, as comfy as you could be without back support-and watched as the fight unfolded, taking note of Samuel's semblance. She couldn't quite tell what it was yet, but it apparently enabled him to hear things from far away. Super hearing didn't seem to be linked in any way to the not-so-little ball behind his back though. One that would apparently go 'boom' after charged.

Focusing her attention instead on Juno, Cerise tilted her head ever so slightly in his direction to show she was paying attention. "Then talk. Preferably before your archer friend gets smited. It looks pretty grisly, I'd hate to see what atrocious things that could do to an individual not under the protection of aura."

"Eh, Verdant will be fine. He's been through worse, I think." Juno started, glancing up at the fight before returning his focus to the girl. "What I'd much rather talk about is you. I can't run a team if I don't know everyone on it, and much less if someone hates me." He joked, taking a moment to look the girl over before letting out a resigned sigh.

"Look, we got off on the wrong foot. I haven't been in the right state of mind since Caja was... forced to retire. But that doesn't excuse how I treated you. I'm sorry."

As Verdant waited for Samual's attack, he thought to himself that definitely didn't want to get near Samual's ball of death thing. So he drew a concussive arrow to try to knock energy ball thing out of Samual's hand. Verdant notched the concussive arrow and drew back on the bow. He quickly peeked out of cover to get a shot to fire at Samual's hand and fired the arrow.

Samuel heard the drawing of the arrow before anything else. Knowing what would come next, he pulled his arm back in preparation, Ashen Howl fully unwrapping and the bottom two chains jabbing into the ground with loud clunks. Now anchored, the fox faunus waited for a moment before starting to throw his arm forward as the arrow flew forwards, one of the upper chains moving to knock it out of the way.

However, he wasn't expecting the concussive blast that emitted from it, knocking off his own aim. As he lost his grasp of the attack, a sound like booming thunder echoed around the room, a shimmering of the air flying forwards to the left of Verdant and smashing through the ice wall where it connected - but missing the target himself.

It then continued onwards to thump into the wall of the room itself, leaving a large series of cracks criss-crossing around the impact site.

Using the chains to pull him back up to his feet from where he'd been pushed over from the arrow and his own attack, Samuel blinked a few times at the furrowing of the ground and the wall. "Uh... whoops?" He sheepishly stated. Deciding the best action was to ignore it and the possible consequences as best as possible, he ran forwards at the hole in the icy barrier that had been made, metal rungs forming an impromptu shield in front of him.

Cerise listened patiently as Juno seemed to be trying to make amends with everything. That was a nice sentiment, it seemed he wasn't a huge asshole all of the time. "Huh. You're not a huge asshole all of the time then." That was the wrong thing to say. "I mean, thank you. And... apologies to you for how refractory I've been. I can be pretty difficult to get along with too, and unlike you, it seems to be a 24/7 kind of thing. You might have to deal with that for a while."

Draining moment of socialization and... nice-ness over, Cerise focused again on the spar Verdant and Samuel were having. "I'm going to skip the cliche let's start over part where we say hi to each other again as if we've both been hit by a terribly specific bout of amnesia where nothing we said before matters though it most obviously does and go right to the part where I inform you that your teammates are causing property damage. When the lot of you inevitably end up on the wrong side of the law, as many students here probably do at one point, don't expect me to join." Realizing that it might've come off as rude or something of the sort, Cerise continued, "Oh look, there's that refractory-ness again. How will you deal..." This was why keeping her mouth shut was usually the best thing to do.

"We can get used to it. Or you'll eventually warm up to the rest of us. Sam used to sit in the corner, thinking about his life with emo rock blasting into his ears, and look at him now." Juno commented, cringing as, almost as if on cue, Sam's projectile slammed into the wall. A misfire like that was a complete rookie mistake, and they had all been fighting for years before Beacon. "Sam, try to avoid something like that in the future. Verdant's close range game is weak, just close the gap and wail on him."

Verdant drew an ice arrow from his quiver but then responded to Juno's advice to Samuel.  "Dude, are you trying to get me to lose?" Verdant aimed the arrow at Samuel's impromptu shield to make it hard for Samuel to do other moves. This was an awful idea because it turned Samuel's shield into a battering ram that he used to smash through Verdant's cover and knock him out of the fighting area.

Verdant was disappointed that he lost but was glad that he didn't have to fight in close quarters anymore. "Oh no, what a shame that I lost, well training's over." Verdant tired to walk for the door.

Nearly snapping at Juno's advice, Samuel had just gone with the charge-and-see-what-happens strategy. He had nothing wrong with Verdant, but god if he wasn't a little annoyed at this stage. Giving an awkward smile at the downed archer, the teen patted his teammate on the back. "Sorry, dude. Not one for cheapshots but I'm not exactly a long-range fighter, I was gonna have to close in sooner or later."

He then turned to face Juno, with a look that could only be described as a cross between a half-hearted glare and a completely blank look. Their team leader hadn't exactly been quiet, and it wouldn't have helped even if he had been. "On the other hand, you are a colossal ass. I have four extra limbs, and that's still not enough middle fingers to express my current sentiments. Can I go get coffee now or at least can I spar again. Give me something here to work with, Juno." Samuel deadpanned, wincing as a few pieces of rubble fell from the damaged wall.

Cerise leaned back on her arm and watched in amusement as the fight came to an end. Though the amusedment wasn't really for that, but more for how Samuel and Verdant were reacting to Juno's asshole side rearing up. "Guess i'm not the only one with social shortcomings eh? Or is it just kindness shortcomings?" She kep her face completely straight, only raising her eyebrow half-accusingly. "Dick move... whatever your last name is." She raised a hand to sarcastically pat him on the shoulder, but thought better of it. Didn't want to poke the bear too much.

"So are we done here yet?" she asked. "Verdant's running away," she waved at said teammate, "and Samuel wants to get coffee. If ya do, be a good person and bring me b-mmph, no, I already had way too much this morning." With a sigh, Cerise resigned herself to instead pulling out her water bottle and taking a few sips from that instead.

Welp. This was a shitty idea. That much made itself apparent with every passing minute. Verdant lost. Of course he lost, that was the point. He had next to no capability in close combat, as evidenced by the 2v2 match against the Mistrali team, and was forced into that range anyway. But Sam? Yeah, dude had a point. Juno woke them up at 5 in the morning, and so far, just had them beat up on each other. At the very least, they needed a break.

Letting out an exasperated sigh, Juno stood up and took to the mat. "Take twenty. All of you. Do whatever you need to do, but I expect to see you back here in time." He stated before looking over to the archer. "Verdant, once you get back, we're going to spar. You need to work on your close combat."

Verdant was nearly to the exit when heard that he had to be back in twenty minutes, his heart sank, he knew that he could take Juno in a fight, but a fight in close quarters that would suck.
"Okay I'll go back to the dorm I'll be back in time, for our training" Verdant said flatly. Verdant was about to walk out the door then he stopped and turned around to face Cerise,
"Hey, didn't you to drop your luggage off at our dorm I can show you the way if you want?" Verdant said in a happy tone. Verdant had wanted to talk to her to learn more about here and now seemed as a good a time as any.

"Thank whatever deity you'd like to." The fox faunus murmured to himself, chains re-wrapping themselves around his arms as he promptly passed the rest of the waiting team. He could finally get some peace and quiet for a bit, maybe grab a quick snooze, and get his fix. He wasn't, uh, addicted or anything. Nothing of the sort. Coffee just... suited his tastes, that was all!

Attempting to distract himself from his annoyance with his own thoughts, he gave a small smile of amusement as he left, quickly heading towards the cafeteria. Coffeequest had just begun.

Cerise was just about to lie down and attempt to sleep when Verdant offered to show her to the dorm. Oh well, it wasn't like that caffeine was going to let her anyway. Resisting the urge to call out for Samuel to get her some, Cerise nodded and went to grab her luggage. Good thing she had someone to guide her, she hated having to navigate through things, all the turns and such were dizzying. "You wouldn't mind carrying me, would you?" she asked rhetorically. Sighing, Cerise grabbed ahold of her suitcase and followed Verdant. "Now's as good a time as any."

Juno simply watched as everyone left, taking a seat on the mat as he waited. Yeah, this session was definitely a mistake, but at this point, all he could really do was try to pick it up and keep moving. Cancelling would set a bad precedent and waste everyone's time, and pushing on as he had... Yeah, that was also a bad move. As the team leader waited for the rest of VCVS, he stood up, running through a series of forms and occasionally glancing at the entrance to the training hall. As Juno practiced each position, striking the air with great force and greater control, Juno pondered his team, and their progression. He couldn't let himself fail them as he had failed Caja. That was simply unacceptable. But if he was to prevent that from happening, VCVS would have to become far more effective in the field.

He just needed to figure out how to go about that.

As Verdant and Cerise walk through the halls of beacon toward the dorms. The sounds of birds chirping and wind blowing showed the day was starting to rear its head. The sound of this near silence was punctuated with the lack of conversation between the two students. Verdant figured that he should say something to break the ice and to learn more about her.
"Soooo, were you born in Vale or did you move here for school?" Verdant asked hoping to start a conversation to pass the time to the dorm.

Letting out a quiet sigh as he walked down the corridor, Samuel gave a few half-hearted greetings to a few early-risers he knew as he followed his mental map of the academy towards the canteen. Hopefully they'd be up and running for fresh coffee already, though it was a bit early. Well, worse comes to worse, he had a few other options. Cranking the music up in his headphones, he pushed on the door to a still-dark hall.

Well, that answers one question. No food or drink here then, yet. He'd just use the machine; it was fairly cheap and still didn't require him to make it himself. Walking over, the teen flicked his scroll over the payment area, then yoinked one of the cheap plastic cups and put it underneath. There was a faint gurgling sound, and then nothing happened. Frowning, he poked the button for black coffee again, paused, then whacked the side of the machine. A clunking sound echoed, another gurgling started, and then a huge jet of vaguely bean-flavoured water shot out and spurted all over the cup, knocking it onto the floor and splashing some onto Samuel's jacket.

There was another pause and a noticeable twitch in the man's arm before he slumped slightly. No matter, he could just get some cold coffee from the vending machine. Walking to the neighbouring vendor, he took a coin out of his pocket and put it in, pressing the button for iced coffee. Hearing the whirring of the drinks being pushed along, he let his lips turn upwards, watching as the carton- oh.

Watching as the carton got stuck on the edge of the row.

Samuel blinked, expression blank, before grasping the sides of the machine. He stared at the offending drink as the machine began to shake slightly from his semblance, the vibrations speeding up as his impatience grew with the lack of movement. A few cracking noises from the frontal glass later, he let out a long breath, releasing his hold on the machine. No good; it would cost him far more to pay for the damages than he'd get out of it. Maybe he could use the coffee machine in the kitchen instead. He's sure that the staff wouldn't mind so long that he clears up after himsel-

Ah. Doors completely locked.

God damnit. To the dorm it is. He'd have to use his own.

Lot of turns. That wasn't good. Also, trying to start up conversation. How good that was, debateable. "Neither," she replied languidly, pretending to check the time when she suddenly realized that she was not wearing a watch. Lovely. "I was born in Atlas, but I didn't move here for Beacon. I've been in Vale since I was six." As maybe a tiny hint, drew her claws out momentarily to admire before sheathing again. "You're either trying to grill me for info or trying to start up a conversation, get to know me better, whatever." She turned her head slightly to look at him. "Good luck with that."

Verdant was surprised by her revealing her claws. He figured that she left for Beacon to stop discrimination just like Verdant had. He was glad she hadn't joined the White Fang like many other Faunus or fled to Menagerie to run from the problems of the world. He was just pleased that she was trying to make a positive difference in the world.
"Sorry if I hit a nerve, I'm just trying to get to know you better," Verdant said apologetically.
"I get what it like not to be wanted where you are," Verdant said is a low tone.

Musing whether he wanted to bother actually walking all the way over to the dorm and possibly bumping into one of his teammates or other - well, not quite friends, but acquaintances at least - and get stuck in the seemingly required conversations and greetings, or having to bother doing some exercise, Samuel slowly pushed open one of the windows to the hall. A quick look out got him wincing at the brightness of the morning sun. How did people manage getting up at this time regularly? Masochists.

Deciding that the thought of people who actually liked getting up at this time put him too off social interaction, he twisted his head, looking for the familiar- ah, there we go. The rest of his team - well, baring Cerise, she hadn't even been in the dorm as far as he knew, had made a bit of a fuss over him just casually grabbing a metal rod and hammering it through the wall, but damn it it made for an awesome elevator, aaand it meant he didn't have to bother talking to a single person if he wanted to wander off somewhere. They can go take their safety precautions, their 'what the fuck are you doing's and their actually decent social interaction skills and shove it up their collective-

Thoughts for another time, perhaps, when he wasn't quite so frustrated by a lack of coffee.

Rungs unwinding from his arm, a chain snapped out, and with a noticeable thunk wrapped around the completely safe and not at all unstable method of transportation, before he yanked himself upwards with a jerk. Good thing that aura existed, otherwise he'd have probably broken his spine by doing that or something. Making it up to the windowsill, he pulled it open, sliding into the still empty dorm. Verdant and the newbie seemed to be taking a while.

Cerise sighed. "It's better here. I was only four, don't even remember Atlas too much. And..." She tilted her head to very slightly face Verdant, waving her hand in dismissal to his apology. "You didn't hit a nerve. I'm always like this." She didn't ask more about what he meant about the second sentence. It was partly that she didn't really think that spilling all would be particularly good for practical strangers, new teammates or not. And also partly because she didn't realize that he might've said that so she would ask about it. "Are we there yet?" she asked, somewhat impatiently.

Verdant was glad he hadn't annoyed her with his previous comment, that would have made a real bad first impression. He looked up to see where he was going, and realized that they were just around the corner from team VCVS' dorm. "We're almost there. The dorm is just around the bend," the archer stated to answer Cerise as he walked around the corner and pulled out his key out of his pocket to open the dorm. "I'll get the door. I don't think you have a key, right?" He stated rhetorically. He then opened the door to reveal the dorm; it was a big room with beds on the far wall. On the left-hand corner of the room, closest to the door, there was a section of the room that acted as a sort of kitchen area. In the kitchen, he saw Samuel tearing the kitchen apart like an animal. Verdant stopped for a second, contemplating whether or not to ask how Samuel how he got into the dorm when the door was locked, but decided to ignore it and just move on with the tour for Cerise. Next, he gestured to the kitchen, followed by  the restroom with a shower. "Make yourself at home, the kitchen is there, there is the restroom, and that your bed." on each thing Verdant named he pointed to it.

Verdant took off his quiver and walked over to the kitchen. "Do you want anything? I'm going to make some breakfast." As Verdant, spoke he took out a pan. He then went to the fridge to get eggs, ham, bread, ingredients integral in preparing to make a breakfast sandwich.

Walking towards the kitchen, Samuel heard faint voices approaching the room's entrance before keys were pushed into the lock. Wincing slightly - he didn't particularly want to deal with anyone right now - he instead went straight into the kitchen. Opening a cabinet with a chain, he fiddled around within as the two others entered the room, mumbling a vague greeting as he searched for his satchels he used in the coffee maker. Finding the packaging, he pulled it out, and took a glance inside. One milk packet and no coffee to go with it. Sighing, he put it back in, reaching down into a drawer to take out some coffee powder and make it himself. Not quite as nice, but better than noth-

Aaand empty again.

"For fuck's sake..." The faunus murmured quietly to himself, pushing the drawer closed with a little more force than necessary and quickly passing Verdant who had come in to grab the ingredients without a passing glance. He had some quality beans that he was saving, but they were kinda pricy. He needed some of the damn stuff, though. Passing by the front door, he gave an absent-minded wave to the newbie as he headed towards his bed.

Cerise exhaled in relief as Verdant stopped to tell her that they'd arrived. Finally. And the dorm itself wasn't too shabby either. Even if it was, she didn't have much choice, it was going to be her home for the next few years. At least, it would be if everything worked out with team VCVS. The layout was nice and simple, it was really unneccesary to point everything out as Verdant had done, but that was probably just courtesy or whatever. She didn't really care.

Removing her shoes and setting her stuff against the wall next to the door, Cerise stepped fully into the place. She was just about to respond to Verdant when she saw Samuel there. Strange, she didn't see him in the hallways... Oh well. "I can prepare it myself." Prepare was actually kind of stretching it, considering she was thinking of bread and butter. Cerise walked over to the fridge to search for and find butter, Verdant had already unwittingly done her the favor of setting out the other ingrediant. She took a bit to find where they kept utensils and the such, where she took out a butter knife. Everything ready, Cerise started to butter two slices of bread for her breakfast.

As the eggs simmered against the skillet, Verdant chanced an aside glance at his new teammate. From his limited interaction with the girl, Verdant could gather that she was... snarky, and had put up more than a few walls. Well... a few walls never stopped someone from making friends, right? The Kingdoms have walls, and none of VCVS is from the same place.

Noting that the girl was starting a meal of her own, the archer discreetly started work on a second breakfast sandwich, and soon enough had prepared the two sandwiches, setting both on the same plate and moving for their table. However, it wasn't until he had taken a few bites out of one of the sandwiches until he spoke up. "Y'know... this was too much for me." He started, setting aside the second, untouched sandwich. "Here, you want the other one? It's fine, honestly."

Grumbling as he lent down, Samuel rummaged around for a moment before something clicked quietly underneath. Pulling open the hidden compartment he'd installed, the draw came out, and the precious, precious coffee was reveal-

Blinking, the faunus' ears tilted in confusion as all that was in the draw was a piece of paper. Was it the wrong one? The one to the left had his blueprints and small devices, the one to the right had his high-volatility dust supplies that Juno would probably kill him for if his leader knew he had, and this one had his precious in it. Imported coffee he gets once a year. Super-strong and slightly sweet. The best stuff. Maybe he'd-

Turning the slip of paper over, he froze.

'ty for the coffee. dunno why u left it under here, tasted weird but was chill. left u a tenner for it.'
- Caja

Samuel stayed completely still for a few seconds more, before his arm twitched hard enough that the drawer smacked into the bed with a fairly loud thump. Slowly placing it to the ground, a faint sound of static filled the room. Samuel slowly got to his feet, expression blank, and walked towards the door, ignoring the two other teammates having small conversation.

The door was promptly blown off its hinges with a burst of noise as he continued walking down the corridor, back towards the training room.

"No thanks," replied Cerise. "The amount of butter on this is enough guilt considering I already had coffee and a smoothie earlier. Bring it to Juno, I don't know, it must take a lot of energy and whatever to make that disapproving face of his." Humming to herself, she quickly ate the last of her makeshift breakfast. "Thank Remnant I spend my days training or else I'd be so-"

"Uh..." Cerise stared at Samuel's quite dramatic exit. "Okay then..." She then proceeded to, as she had nothing to say really, just sit fidgeting in awkward silence.

Verdant put the plate down to pick up his sandwich to eat it while Cerise talked, he just about half way through the sandwich when he saw Samual stomp his way over to the door of the dorm. Verdant's hairs were standing on ends and he could tell something was bothering Samual, however, he was confused as what it was that had Samual riled up but before he could interrupt Cerise to ask Samuel what was wrong, BOOM! The door was blown off the hinges with a single push from Samual.

Verdant through down his sandwich onto his plate. "Samual are you serious?!?!", Verdant yelled walking after Samual. "The school won't give us a new door for at least a week!", Verdant said as he stopped at the door. Verdant sighed and looked at his scroll and saw they would have to meet back at training hall soon. He turned around to look at to look at Cerise and spoke with a grin, "Well um we should probably get back to the training hall."

Not responding to Verdant, Samuel quickly descended the stairs towards the training room; he was taking the more traditional path back this time. It helped that the corridors were fairly bare at this time of day, and most of the other students stayed out of his general path. Keeping his breaths steady despite the quiet static noise still coming from his aura, he pushed open the door to the training room, not looking right at their team leader as he took a seat.

Cerise gave him a vague nod as she kept staring at the destruction Samuel had left in his wake. "If I didn't know any better, I'd think that you guys like to destroy things. Already a detriment to school property on two separate accounts..." She internally wondered whethor or not she in particular would be in any danger. Thank Remnant for Aura then?

She took a few more bites out of the rather meager end of her rather stretched out breakfast as she walked out of the room, not really concerned with whether or not Verdant was following. He was a little talkative to be honest.

Verdant followed Cerise out the hole where the door used to be picking up his quiver and fastened it on his back. When he stepped into the hall saw that other students were poking their heads out of their dorms to see what all the noise had been. The second they saw him the student all locked eyes with him in what Verdant would describe as a mixture of confusion and annoyance. He then gave an awkward wave to the other students and picked up the door form the floor leaning it on door frame where it used to reside. He then turned about and loudly whispered, "Sorry for the noise."  As many of the students looked like they had been woken up by the racket his teammate had left behind. Verdant then turned around and jogged back the training hall.

As he walked in saw that Samual and Cerise had already taken a seat with Juno standing around like he had been waiting for Verdant to get done here. Verdant quickly sat down next to Samual and waited for what Juno was going to say.

Juno raised an eyebrow as Sam stormed back into the training hall, doing his best to suppress the rising urge to chuckle. "Out of coffee?" He inquired as he stood up from the training mat, picking up Phi's belt and buckling it around his waist. As he opened his mouth to speak, however, Phi materialized on his shoulder.

"I'll add Coffee to the team shopping list. What roast would you like? Ground or whole bean? Any specific brands? Cream? Sugar? Sugar substitute? Non dairy cream substitute? Do you have any allergies that have not yet been specified by..."

As Phi continued to ramble on, Juno shrugged, waiting for the others to join them, offering a light wave to Cerise and Verdant once they made their appearance. Phi eventually noted her handler's teammates, prompting her to enthusiastically greet them as well.

Once Phi had finished her onslaught of "hello"s and "how are you functioning today"s, Juno paced back and forth on the sparring mat, looking over his team. "I would like to apologize once again for making you all get up earlier than anticipated. But if we are to progress, we have to push ourselves past any preconceived limits. Verdant, your hand to hand skills have been neglected. Sam, you need to learn to take your fights more seriously. Cerise... I don't know where your flaws are. We will see them come to light as we progress.

"Sam, Cerise. Take the floor."

He practically glared at Juno at his amused statement, but gave a small nod. "Yes. Even the special stuff. Caja took it all. That costs a month's worth of fees from helping out at the Dust store." Unlike Juno, he did not look amused at all. He glanced over at the talkative AI, but copied Juno and blanked it out, waiting for the others to get there.

Samuel similarly ignored the others as they entered, mumbling quietly to himself as he fidgeted with something on his scroll. He twitched slightly at Juno's first sentence, lowering said device to look over at their team leader. He shrugged at the comment pointed at him, going back to the scroll, then having to put it down with a noise of exasperation as he was called up.

Pushing himself to his feet, Ashen Howl still attached as a bump on his back over the back-ripped hoodie, he stumbled slightly as he walked down the stairs, moving over to the arena with a lazy gait. He picked up Staccato and Encore as he went, the chain-linked blades giving a light ringing noise as he span them round, holding them by the chain just below the handle, waiting for Cerise to follow over. He may as well let off some steam. Staring at Juno for a moment, remembering the comment he made, the faunus gritted sharp teeth together, before releasing a breath. He wanted to see something more serious? Fine.

He started swaying from side to side gently, briefly moving to flick on the music again. He could do serious. Didn't like doing serious, didn't think it was exactly what Juno wanted, but focusing just hard enough to overlay the image of Caja onto Cerise?

Well. He could manage it, this time.

Apologies for the late post, been busy, school, studying, going to have a hectic schedule...

Cerise looked curiously at the little blue sprite-like thing on Juno's shoulder. She was a cute little thing. Cerise mentally wondered how she worked. She'd have to ask Juno about it later, it somewhat intrigued her.

Momentarily pushing aside the topic of the little blue girl, Cerise got up from her seat on the benches, which was a pity because she really did like being sedentary. Some days she wondered why she was putting herself through this fighting and athletic stuff anyway, Cerise was a little lazy when it came to endurance stuff. Good chance that was a contributing factor to how quickly she got tired, along with her style.

"Ready when you are." This time, Cerise wielded both of her weapons, both in the same form. The reach advantage would have significantly decreased effectiveness when she was fighting someone with chains as a weapon. Her left arm she placed behind her back, her right holding one of her blades out diagonally.

Samuel didn't make any real movements towards starting the fight, just continuing the odd swaying from side-to-side, the chains unwrapping from his arms and rising behind him as he did so to the beat of the music in his ears. A low pitched whining sound started as he started spinning each sword on the end of the connecting chain, a faint shimmer starting the cover the edge of the blades as he built up his semblence around them. He was perfectly happy to wait here for her to make the first move; gave him time to charge up, and he was always more of a reactive fighter anyways. Liked to get some more information firsthand before really going at it.

"Eh. Happy to stand about a bit, y'know? Weather's good, all that stuff." The faunus stated in a somewhat bland tone of voice, a faint blue glow behind his covered eye once again as he waited for her to act.

Cerise looked around, momentarily confused because they were indoors. Then she realized that it was a joke. "Oh... Am I supposed to laugh now?" She was, in fact, genuinely asking. She was pretty sure it was a joke but was it one of those jokes that were made just to be made or one of those jokes made to be laughed at? Wait, but wasn't the definition of joke something to make people laugh? If so, then would it really be considered a joke? Then what was it? Just something said flippantly?

This was why she was not a philosopher.

Deciding that mini lightbulb moments/mental breakdowns could happen at a different time, Cerise accepted the invitation to take the first move, seeing as that was the role she usually took on. The charge forward was as quick as she could make it, seeing as the distance between them wasn't enough to warrant any pacing and the student would've liked to get as close as possible before engaging in combat with her new teammate. Those swords would probably be easier to deal with in close range. Cerise didn't much like the idea of having to deal with all of the lovely reach those chains gave dear Sam.

This start was just as much to feel out her opponent as it was for Samuel, so Cerise just went for simplicity. One downwards left-diagonal slash with the left blade, one horizontal with the right, both eyes on those chains. Beacon students had such fancy schmancy weapons, did they have nothing better to do than sit and design all day? And what exactly was Samuel's semblance again?

The faunus shrugged at her question, keeping the swords spinning up as she looked around in confusion. More time to prepare for him. Her face went through several puzzled expressions, and he just levelled a lazy look over, waiting for them to make a move.

Seeing the teammate-to-be practically blur forward - 'fast' - he aimed the swinging swords towards each of the oncoming blows, a shriek sounding out from the energy around them as they approached to answer each of her blows with the shockwaves ready to release in each on impact. The chains connected to his back quickly slided forwards and around her to try and block off her exit. Samuel himself hadn't moved his body, still staring at her with the vaguely eerie glow as he watched her reaction.

Fancy schmancy alright. Cerise widened her eyes in surprised at Samuel's combo of knockback and exit block. What did they say again? Fight fire with fire? Well that was exactly what Cerise proceeded to do, loading gravity Dust into her weapons as well. This might be a messy fight. Here's hoping they don't destroy school property like the last time?

She went along with the momentum from the shockwaves, leaning back on the chains and leaning her weight on them to sort-of vault/squeeze through. Now not within their confines, she struck the left side of the chains with her falchions in the hope of knocking them away long enough for her to sneak in once again. Those things could cause quite some trouble. And so Cerise used her semblance to 'teleport' back in front of Samuel, following with a kick to the abdomen and several quick slashes, hoping to overwhelm her opponent and sneak in as much as possible during the time frame in which she had the chance to.

Samuel felt the chains opening up, narrowing his eyes slightly as his teammate-to-be moved quickly backwards. Feeling the chains pushed slightly to the side, he started to make a move, but the sudden blink in front of him caught him slightly off guard and the kick hit, making him stumble back slightly.

The followup slash was blocked by one of his own blade that he moved up with the backwards momentum, holding the other up against the flurry of blows, his hands now moving to more firmly grasp the handles of the weapons themselves, while the chains used the shaping granted to start circling around behind her in an arcing motion as a solid bundle.

'She's vaguely similar to Caja's old style, if a little more direct sometimes. Might be best to test the limits of her semblence before I show too many of my own cards, see if I can get a pattern here.' He mused, pushing the flat of the sword forwards towards her to try and shove her into the oncoming chains.
