Title: New Buds [Closed]
Post by: The Mythic Scribe on December 25, 2016, 03:49:02 AM
Mauve leaned back on her bed's headrest, trying to focus on the book she was holding at the moment. Mystery this time, she was really excited to read it. But that was two weeks ago. When Fortuna hadn't broken the news yet. Now, they were waiting for the new guy, Russel Omhiaba, Fortuna's replacement. Now FIRE was going to become ROSE apparently. At least her initial was first this time. But Russel was still a wildcard. The possibilities were endless. What if he didn't fit in well with the team? That wouldn't do well. And it would be her responsibility to keep him in check and hopefully help him fit in as well.

It was doubtful he could ever fill the shoes of Fortuna though. Mauve wanted to keep an open mind but Fortuna had become her best friend, however short their time was. Even when the news came that her dear teammate was in fact, not as aristocratic as she acted, instead coming from humble roots in rural and quaint Vale. Beacon had been too much for her it seemed. And she'd also mentioned something about her family needing her back home too. Mauve was obviously crestfallen at the news, but she'd simply accepted the situation, respected her friend's decision, and made sure that they could stay in touch. Not a crinkle or crease, just as perfect as always. It’d only been a day since she’d left and Beacon was sending a replacement up already.

This new team member didn’t seem all too great at the moment though. She’d paid some of the right people and they’d given her some information in return. What? She had money, she knew how to use it. And Mauve had been slightly worried at this ‘Russel,’ more specifically, his background. Terrible accident that rendered family members killed. Tragic pasts sometimes had consequences. Then again, she was one to talk. Open mind, open mind… Maybe he wouldn’t be so bad. Apparently from Atlas, so maybe she could use that connection? Perhaps.

“He should be here soon,” she said aloud to the other two in the dorm room. “The time is approaching four-thirty. He might be late though, people tend to be late sometimes. I don’t like to be late, but I’m not infallible either.” Realizing that she was being very, very awkward, Mauve promptly shut up and returned her attention to the book in hand. ’What? They’ve already apprehended the suspect? When did that happen?’ Yeah, no, she was definitely not paying attention enough.

Ismael laid on his bed looking at the ceiling. His mask pulled firmly on his face as he stares into the nothingness that lays before him. He was not in the mood for this shit. He was starting to feel comfortable with the entire group and then the whole dynamic was flipped on it's head as Fortuna dropped the bomb. He was understanding of the circumstances and didn't make a fuss, however, that didn't stop him from having his anger be present. He isn't likely to show his anger, he just feels depressed and now waits for the new member to come in and join the group.

Nathan was just doing the usual: sitting at his computer in a half-slouched, half-straight position. The clicks were numerous and, every now and then, were punctuated by a stream of typing - with noticeable pauses whenever he went back to correct himself.

Despite having his surround headphones on his head, he clearly heard his team leader announce the imminent arrival of the newest team member. 't was a sad thing. He had barely started getting accustomed to Fortuna. Not really moving from where he was, he briefly extended his right arm... wet, to his right, making a thumbs up and shoving it into the curtain separating the halves of the room, signifying his understanding, before going right back to business.

Damn, Mixer was hard to get a hold of.

Russell was lost. He knew everything about training with world class soldiers at Atlas, but how could he handle living at Beacon? His mind immediately thought back to the kids who would bully him. Then he thought about the night his semblance became active. He knew that he would need to suppress that aggression if he wanted to make a good first impression.

He carries the shield under his arm and his pack on his back, trying to make sense of the room assignment sheet. Man, it might as well be in Greek, he thought. Tired from his journey, all of the rooms began to look the same. He finally stops at a room newly labeled ROSE. He looked around and sees the other labels are rather older. This makes him feel more like a new kid.

Looking at his sheet, he reads ROSE as his new team. He grabs the doorknob, takes a deep breath and twists the knob, opening the door.

He sees three students, each catering to their own needs. One is reading a book, looking completely enthralled by its words. Another is clicking away at his keyboard, making it known that he is typing something important or he's really into his game. The final student isn't doing much, just staring at the ceiling with a disgruntled look. "So this is Beacon, huh? Cozy. Sorry if I'm not in the right room, my name is..."

"Russel Omhiaba. Yes, I know." Mauve stood up and set her book aside, though not before taking a quick look at the page number, 243, then standing to greet the new member of the team. "You're in the correct room, Mr. Omhiaba. Did you not see the label above the door reading ROSE? No matter, you're here now, and without much difficulty I suppose."

Turning around and walking forwards slightly before turning in a way that kept all three of her three other teammates in sight. "We are the remains of Team FIRE. You are the replacement for the girl who left, Fortuna Altin. This," she extended an arm out to Ismael, "is Ismael Skhaos. And this," now moving her arm to point at Nathan, "is Nathan Eau. They, along with me, will be your new teammates for your stay at Beacon. You were formerly an Atlas student, yes? Things might be a little different here, though I have no doubt that you have already anticipated that. Atlas and Vale are very different places. That has never been in question."

"Now!" she said, clapping her hands once to punctuate, Mauve gestured to the completely unpersonalized bed next to hers. "That one belongs to you now, as does the desk adjacent to it. I hope you will find it fitting and if not, simply ask and I will order or simply go out in Vale to purchase more comfortable pillows, blankets, mattresses, whatever you may want. If you have any other things you have free reign of your decorations, unless they are overly large or of licentious nature." Here she inserted a smile. "I'm sure there will be no problems pertaining to that though, correct?" Without waiting to Russell to respond, she continued, "Great. Am I missing something? I feel like I'm missing something."

She had to take a few seconds before she realized what. "Oh! Yes. Me. My name is Mauve Roux, daughter of the late General Andersen Roux of the Roux family, also originating from Atlas, though I myself was born and raised in Mistral. My brother actually went to Atlas's combat school." Though Mauve couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness and actually partly anger for Atlas's school very obviously not teaching him enough, her exterior was perfect as always, a soft smile on her fact. "It's good that you transferred to Beacon. Pleased to meet you, Russel." Here, she held her hand out expectantly.

Ismael starts to feel a pit well up inside him as he sits there and does nothing but feel angry and depressed, so sighs as he flips over and digs around in one of his duffle bags looking for something. He finally comes out with a blank cover black book. He opens to the first page and starts to read. Ignoring the conversation that is taking place.

Nathan continues fiddling with Mixer, slowly realizing that 3D modeling is harder than it looks. He does, however, briefly turn around and flash a smile, accompanied by a small wave. "'S up."

Russell is taken aback by all of this. The amount of detail Mauve went into reminded him of his father. This briefly saddened him, but at the rate Mauve was speaking, he knew it would be a bit for him to catch up. Not to mention that Mauve seemed to know an awful lot about him. It's both flattering and creepy. She HAS to be the leader of this team. Without question, he thought while she continued her high speed tour.

As Mauve introduced Russell to his new teammates Nathan and Ishmael, he waved, but only Nathan responded. He sensed Ishmael to be a loner, similar to himself but he knew people are what could bring him out of his rage.

He looked at the bunk and wanted to take a nao after carrying his stuff up the stairs. He lied on his bland bed, the frame creaking from his weight. That Fortuna girl must have been a feather compared to me, Rusty thought. He never imagined he'd be on a team, let alone at Beacon.

But Russell knew that he needed to set a precedent for his involvement on the team. "Hey everyone. Thanks for letting me join your team. I hope I can do my part," Russell says, trying to break the otherwise awkward silence.  "Oh and my friends call me Rusty. Or at least they would if I had them."

Mauve frowned at Russell as he ignored the hand she extended to him. And to the lack of response from her other teammates as well. Disappointing, though she couldn't expect very much from the two. Ismael was... well, Ismael, and Nathan wasn't exactly the most social type of person around. Sighing softly, she lowered her hand and crossed her arms instead, smiling a little at Russell's joke. "Quite the humorous person aren't you Mr. Omhiaba? Perhaps not and the joke was unintended, but it was mildly entertaining."

Fun over with, she pursed her lips at the situation. She was the leader, she had to take care of things. First things first, accommodations. "Alright," she started. "It seems that we will be needing to order a few things. Pardon my bluntness Mr. Omhiaba, but the bed doesn't seem to hold your weight very well. No matter, I can get a new one for you later." She made a mental note to do just that, before simply deigning to write it down on a notepad she had lying around the place. You could never be too careful. As Mauve looked around the room, she noticed a few more discrepancies that would need to be fixed, scribbling them down as well before saying them out loud. "As you can see there's a curtain separating us from the other two, something Fortuna and I wanted for reasons I'm sure you can guess. I'll have that moved over or simply taken out and I can get one of those changing screen or something. You can have the bottom two drawers of the extra dresser we have, the one that's a bit smaller than the others. There used to be another one in addition to that, but you can deal with that much space, right? If you need anything hung up than you'll have to share with Nathan or Ismael."

"Speaking of which..." Mauve fixed her gaze on her other teammates, a chastising look on her face. "Is that any way to greet our now teammate? He's not Fortuna and it's doubtful that he'll be able to replace her or something of the sort, but that doesn't mean that he shouldn't be treated in cordial manner." Done, she turned back to Russell, who she still refuses to call by his first name or the nickname he suggested, a look of slight apology on her face. "You'll have to excuse us, in the time she was on the team, Fortuna became one of our closest friends, and it kind of turns everything upside down to have her gone. I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine here though."

Ismael starts to feel angry as he just sits there. He wanted to make a good first impression, however, he also was angry at the whole situation. Once Mauve started targeting him and Nathan, he threw the book into his bag from anger and stood up taking his mask off furiously, revealing his tan face, his blue and red eyes, and an angered look on his face. He looked at Mauve and said, "I'm gonna take a walk, don't wait up on me". Once he finishes his sentence he starts to go to the door to leave.

As he was spreading his attention between his computer monitor and the surroundings, Nathan noticed Mauve's... scolding? Was that it?, quickly followed by Ismael getting up and ready to storm out of the place. Getting up from his seat and - as friendly as possible - briefly putting a hand on Izzy's shoulder, in a perhaps vain attempt to communicate something along the lines of 'Chill, broseph', Nathan walked to the end of the curtain, going around said end when he got there.

"...Wait, were we not cordial?", he said in his usual relaxed tone. After which he crossed his arms, entirely forgetting everything his mother had desperately attempted to ram into his head about communication.

Russell took note of this and got up from the bed. "Thanks, but I'll keep my stuff in my pack," he said, standing up as Mauve began to further introduce him. "I'm not used to being the same place for too long."

You could cut the tension with the dullest knife. He didn't feel all too welcome, but he got used to that feeling at Atlas. But Russell knew that he should make due with his situation. He extended a fist for a fist bump to Mauve. "Sorry, I didn't get you on the way in. Didn't want to drop my dad's shield," Russell apologizes, not trying to cause waves on his first day. It was obvious that Ishmael wasn't the biggest fan of him, so looks like he already has work to do.

The situation was not getting better. Mauve threw a desperate glance towards the door before looking instead at Russell's offer to... fist bump... Awkwardly, she complied with the action, though looking very uncomfortable while doing so. "Mmm, no, I completely understand Mr. Omhiaba. It's a fine shield and I would hate for it to be dented or scratched. Even more so knowing that it belonged to your father. We always need something to remind us of home." Here she remembered that Russell's father had died as well. Something they had in common. Knowing this, she sent him a comforting smile, hoping not to betray just how much she had researched about him. People didn't always appreciate how thorough Mauve was.

"Anyway, yes Nathan, cordial would not be the exact word I would use to express how you and Chaos were to our new teammate." She raised an eyebrow at the computer he was using, then looked back at him again. "If things work out, he will be our roommate for the rest of our time at Beacon and he deserves a warm welcome, not simply an offhand wave." Again, Mauve looked at the door, mentally berating herself for letting this happen. However, there was a way to kill two birds with one stone. "I do think that there is a way to make Mr. Omhiaba more welcome though," she said carefully. "I am aware that Chaos expressed his wish for me to not follow, but I believe that is just what lets me know that he does wish for someone to talk to. Nathan, you will stay here and help our new teammate be acquainted with the place. Answer any questions he has, and darling? Please, try to be friendly?" Sending another rushed smile Nathan's way, she waved farewell to Russell and headed out the door.

As she entered the hallway, Mauve could just about make out Chaos's figure down the hall and taking a right, towards the exit. She hightailed it in that direction, trying to both not run and be fast enough to keep up to her teammate. He'd already gotten a headstart on her, but it'd be rude to run in the hallway, possibly disrupting other teams. Soon though, she'd decided to fuck chivalry and break into a full-on sprint to catch up to Chaos. "Hey!" she called out as soon as she caught up. "Ismael. I apologize but I couldn't resist trying to catch up to you. I realize that you, like all of us, have also been affected greatly by Fortuna's leaving. We as a team haven't found the time to discuss the matter yet, but perhaps we could just talk alone right now?"

Spoiler: ShowHide
Mythic, you kinda put Chaos instead of Skhaos for Ismael's last name.

Ismael had a lot on his mind from Fortuna leaving to him doubting his every move. He wishes something will stay constant in his life. He puffs a slight sigh as he tries to breath normally again. Now more than ever he wishes for the voices he could talk to, but they all have fallen silent to him. He now feels alone, and when Mauve comes up behind him he stops  at the nearest bench and sits and direct her to sit down. He lets out one more sigh then begins to speak, "Yeah let's talk. Why not. So how have you been feeling about this whole thing?". His voice seems a bit less angry and now more of sadness, and he gives off a slight presence of confusion.

Sorry for the massive delay, I dun goofed and didn't realize it was my turn to post when I read Chaos' last entry.
...Aaaaaaand they were gone.

Well, shit. Good job, Leader. Leave the socially deficient one in charge of the new guy. Great planning.

After staring blankly at the open door for a second or two, Nathan looked back at Russell and, after putting his hands in his pockets, said "Aaahh, don't mind Izzy. He's barely any more skilled at socializing than I am. It'll be fine."

A pause followed.

Nathan did not really know how to end it.

Russell can tell that neither he or Nathan were the overly-talkative type. But at least Nathan tried to break the ice, which is more than he could say for most of the people he's come across.

Traveling to Beacon wasn't the most peaceful journeys, especially when others stare at you. But he shook this thought off, focusing back on his troubled teammate.

"Ahh, it's no big deal. I'm kinda the same way sometimes," Russell replies. He was interested to see what came Nathan was playing. He loved the video games that Atlas provided in the common area, but he knew they weren't his so he never grew attached to them. But his size made each step he took was like a stomp. A stomp he feared would frighten his new teammate.

He walked slowly toward Nathan. "Hey, I'm a bit of a gamer too. What game is that?," Russell asked, curious and hoping to get a response.

Mauve complied quietly with Ismael's request to sit, producing an internal sigh of relief when Ismael agreed to talk instead of simply continuing on his not-so-merry way or something of the sort. She had to hesitate when Ismael asked her first though, Mauve usually asked other people first so that she knew how to craft her answer to best fit the wishes of the person she was conversing with, in this case, Ismael. But she knew that sometimes, everything didn't have to be so structured and planned. Sometimes just doing stuff from the heart was the best option.

"Alright," Mauve started warily, trying to think of what to say. "Well, you know that Fortuna and I had grown fairly close in the time that she was a part of this team. She was-and is-a very good friend. Fortuna's dependable and personable, and she was always a shoulder to lean on, your own personal cheerleader." Mauve let out a sigh as she thought more about what she was saying, finding it to be more true than she realized. Fortuna would've been great in such a situation, she was always the more friendly one. "She was like the glue in our team, hmm? I cannot say that I wasn't hurt by her leaving though. Or the fact that she hid her background from us. I kind of... kind of thought that maybe we'd become close enough that secrets like that wouldn't have to exist between us anymore." She stared down at her hands in disappointment. A part of her blamed herself for being... well... her. Rich and sophisticated, it couldn't have been easy to try confessing with someone like her to remind Fortuna of what she wanted to be. And really, what she was. Fortuna was every bit as classy as Mauve, that was a given.

"It's still no excuse to not accept Russell though," she started anew, changing her tone of voice ever so slightly. "Like it or not he will be-no, is, our new teammate. And he deserves just as much respect as Fortuna. Could you imagine being in his shoes?" she asked, gesturing in the general direction of their dorm room. "In a new environment, with no previous friends, in a team that already knows each other. It can't be easy, now can it?" Mauve raised an arm to rub Ismael's shoulder consolingly. "Mr. Omhiaba will not be replacing Fortuna. Do not think of it as replacing her. He's simply a new member in the group. I'm not sure what I'll do without Fortuna. How can you direct a vehicle that has nothing holding it together? But the thing is, there has to be something holding it together. Us. We all have to work to become the new glue in our team. To hold ourselves together during these turbulent times."

She smiled gently, lowering her hand. "But I've already talked more than my fair share. What I wanted was to hear what you felt, Ismael. How do you feel about Fortuna leaving us?"
Title: Re: New Buds [Closed]

Ismael moved around a little to become more comfortable and then started by saying, "How I feel? Angry, sad, confused, depressed, underwhelmed, overwhelmed, understanding, and down right stressed. I know none of us got off on the right foot, I know that, I created a big scene at the start of the year, and you all got over that fast. So to me you all became like family and so when someone leaves it hits hard, and when someone tries to come in, to me it's like salt in the wound. Look I will give the new guy a shot, however, I am not trusting him from the color of his shoelaces". Ismael then laughed as he thought how funny that statement was, shoelaces? Well whatever time to become more serious, "But still, I am gonna give him a shot, however, I'm still not gonna trust him with what I got, he doesn't get that for free". Ismael then stands up and stretches as he finally states with his black lightning hoping around him, "You know a life like this is more deadly than a plague? Why do we pursue it in the first place? To find hope? Redemption? Or just because it's a trend?". Ismael then starts walking away realizing that he was able to hear the voices, and damn do they sound philosophical right now.

Nathan glanced at his computer before turning back. "Oh, that? It's actually a 3D modeling software I'm trying to ease into, but I think I'll wait 'til I have actual use for it. I've been reading the manual for 3 days straight and am still nowhere close to a quarter of the way done."

A small smile - the one he had when being friendly, which is slightly different than when... never mind - found its way onto his face. "I am, however, also a gamer. Mind telling me what genres you're into? I might have something. Or not. Which is the point of me asking."

Russell thought that was amazing. He was used to modeling and shaping with his hands, but a computer is a different story. He never even got to use his father's computer. This memory was briefly somber, but Russell feigned happiness to not remind himself of that night.

"Oh that sounds really cool," Rusty replied, becoming more interested by the second. He wanted to play, but he didn't know how to ask.

"Hmm, I like just about anything," Rusty said, hoping he could figure out how to talk to Nathan. "I never had a game of my own before so I didn't know much about video games. If I miss anything from Atlas right now, it'd be the fact that all the systems at Atlas ran any game we wanted. I got really good at this war simulator. I added some protruding spikes to my shield for it. But RPGs and FPS are really fun too. Sorry for the rambling. I didn't think I'd meet another gamer here."

Mauve listened sympathetically as Ismael started to share his own feelings, her hand making its way to her teammate’s shoulder again, rubbing it to express that no hard feelings about the incident at the beginning of the year remained. She could very much see where all of this was coming from, and she actually shared a lot of those feelings with him. Then as he stood, Mauve readied herself to chase after him again, until… his last question. She couldn’t help but hesitate at it, to try finding an answer even though it was very much rhetorical. Mauve knew why she was training to be a huntress. Right? To… to protect others, to do her good with the world, because it was the right thing to do. And she admitted that a part of her did this to prove that she deserved to have a part in the world, to prove that she was as great as her brother was, that he would never die. Success is the best revenge.

The pause bought Ismael enough time to get a considerable distance away from her though. Seeing this, Mauve stood and turned in the direction he was heading, calling out, “I’m going to head back,” in an almost-shout. Ladies should not yell. “If you would prefer to join me back and welcome our new teammate then I invite you to do so. I do however, understand that you may need your own personal space at the moment. And if this personal space is your wish then I will not stand in the way of it.” Not waiting for an answer, no matter how impolite it could seem, Mauve swiveled to head back into the dorm room.

She knocked softly on the door before entering, twisting the doorknob slowly and softly, so as to give them time to refuse her entry if they wished. Meeting no opposing actions, Mauve pushed the door open wider to find the two boys talking near Nathan’s computer. Smiling in a quite motherly way, she asked “Well, what would you two be up to at the moment? Team bonding I would hope, though I do understand that men are always up to no good.” Aiming another kind look at Nathan, Mauve proceeded to act like the leader she was. “Would any of you like tea? Perhaps some coffee? The mini-fridge is stocked with all sorts of food. There’s fruit if you’d like any. Apples, oranges, strawberries, and my personal favorite… pomegranates!” The last fruit she said while pulling one of the said fruit out, turning the red fruit around in her hands before cutting around and twisting it into two halves, one of which she set down on the table. The other she held in one of her hands, using the other to pick some of the red seeds out.

Ismael slowly walks over to the nearest tree and sits down to start and try to meditate. He gives a small audible sigh as he closes his eyes and tries to empty his mind letting the voices sound more clearly. He hasn't done this in a long while and he found it tough at first, but after a bit of time it came to him and he started an inaudible conversation with them to discuss anything or everything.

"Ehh, rambling's fine. So RPGs and FPS, hm? Well, I might have a few FPS in stock, lemme set up an appropriate gaming environment. This puppy can run literally anything on max settings." On that note, Nathan moved to his bedside table and produced two rolls of... transluscent film? alongside a pair of DoubleClash 3 controllers, the 4 items unceremoniously deposited on the bed. He then proceeded to rummage through his physical games - which were really all already in his computer, but it's just simpler that way.

Mauve came in at that moment, enquiring on their current activities - shortly followed by another question, concerning refreshments & snacks. Nathan glanced at the small frame and replied with "[color#00d219]Discussing video games. And tea, please, if it's not too much trouble.[/color]", finishing his sentence while simultaneously sending a warm smile in Mauve's direction.

"Right. So in the FPS category, I'm pretty poor, seeing as I usually go for simulators, 4X, sandbox and action. Still, I have Surreal Championship III, which is probably my favourite due to the vehicles, and also Catastrophe 2. I've also got a relic in the form of Galactic Battle: Warfront 2."

Russell was baffled by all of the games Nathan owned. He had only dreamed about owning all of these games. He only got to play in the common areas back at Atlas. He thought maybe if he could earn enough money that he could live comfortably. No, he wanted to make sure his mom had a better life first. Then he could worry about himself.

"Oh I've heard of Catastrophe 2. Never played though. But I've been known to school some Atlas jokers in Surreal Championship III. Maybe we can get Ishmael back in here so we can all play together."

Russell grabs one of the controllers and sits down next to his new teammate, but can't help wonder about his mom and then Ishmael. He hoped he wasn't the cause!

"Alright then, tea it is," said Mauve, smiling back at Nathan before frowning slightly at Russell, who had again ignored her. A little rude of him. Perhaps a result of his humble upbringing? Mauve internally reprimanded herself for even thinking that, reminding herself that humble roots or not, he was as good as she was. Sometimes you just couldn't shake a certain mindset. He seemed quite intrigued by the video games though, and knowing boys and such... Well, she could let it pass for now, she had to make some tea. Making sure to set her pomegranate down on the end table near where she planned to sit later, Mauve did just that.

Teacup and saucer in hand, Mauve steadily made her way to her teammates sitting on Nathan's bed. She set the tea down on the end table belonging to said bed, trailing her fingers along Nathan's shoulders as she passed. "Enjoy your tea Nathan." Mauve then hurried across the room to grab her own cup of tea, because it was sloppy to carry two at once. During the time that she used to walk back and sit down adjacent to the boys, she took the time to talk further concerning the tea. "I hope you find it to your tasting. I always advocate not adding much to tea, oolong is always best alone for instance though sencha goes well with lemon and chai already has a good amount of milk, but anywho I left the tea very much plain in order for its flavor to be highlighted. Longjing, a tea I will always swear by if it's authentic. This is only second grade Longjing though, shame it isn't first or superior grade, but I like it all the same." By then she'd sat down and started taking sips of the tea she was praising so highly. "Mmm... Are you sure you don't need anything Russel?"

Ismael stays still in pure silence, allowing him to listen clearly and fully to what is being said in his mind.

"Alright, SC3 it is." Nathan took the leftover controller along with one of the translucent rolls. He plugged the wire crammed within the roll into the back of his computer, causing the roll to unfold within a second, producing a decent-sized UHD screen, complete with a small stand. "Just do the same.", he said as he put the screen on his end table.

"Thanks, Mauve.", he responded with a warm smile as she set the tea on the same piece of furniture. As for the slight trailing touch on his shoulder, he replied in a similarly subtle fashion along the girl's back. He then used the screen that had just turned on to start the game after 2-3 touches.

With one hand, keeping the controller in the other, he took a sip of tea while listening to Mauve's extensive opinion on how to properly serve tea. "It tastes great. Best tea I've had in a long while." He then started creating a multiplayer game, pausing at the mode selection screen to let Russell answer Mauve's question.

(Sorry I haven't been posting in while. Honestly had slipped my mind on account that I had a lot of stuff to deal with at once this past week... ugh. I promise to get better at posting more frequently)

Russell looked up to Mauve, handing Nathan a cup of tea. He briefly flashbacked to his mother. She often made him tea whenever he was sick. Like only whenever he was sick, but he didn't want to make Mauve sad so he humbly said,"Thank you, madam. I'll take some tea as well." Russell knows he has infrequently said that word before, but based on Maeve's speech pattern, he hoped that she'd appreciate it.

Nathan takes a sip of the tea and is immediately astonished the tea's aroma. It smelled just like the tea his mother made whenever he was sick. His mom did work for the rich and well-off, so it wouldn't be a stretch to think...

Naw, he didn't want to think about that now. First he had to beat Nathan in this SC3 game. "Okay! Let's do this! You're going down!"

Mauve smiled as she heard Russell attempt at being polite. Cute. Madam. The title was a bit too old and matronly to be used to address her, and it was usually used only when you didn't know the name of the person you were addressing, but she appreciated it all the same. She also appreciated the fact that Russell seemed to enjoy the tea she'd prepared. "It's my pleasure Mr. Omhiaba. Please, ignore me for now and return your focus to the hopefully riveting game you and Nathan will play. If you need anything else, please do not hesitate." Sending a final smile Russell's way, Mauve stirred her tea absentmindedly, even though there was nothing added to stir in. A sneaky way to fidget, where the calming and distracting effect was the same while it didn't look like you were fidgeting. She'd successfully escaped reprimands for doing such things for awhile using that same method.

There was still something else on her mind though, the fact that Ismael still hadn't returned yet. Skhaos was always an eccentric type, and the team had learned to leave him to his thoughts when he wished to be alone, but Mauve still couldn't help but worry, almost to the point where she started tapping the side of her tea cup. Sipping it was a much better thing to do. Still worried though, Mauve looked at her wrist for the time, and when she realized that she was in fact not wearing a watch, her gaze went to the clock mounted on the wall just above the entrance to the dorm room. It hadn't even been five minutes. He'd return soon. Hopefully.

As Ismael's breath slowed his heart beat followed and he began to enter a Zen like state of mind. Nothing is thought of, nothing at all. Until an explosion of white comes to though and a large black bird with the tips of its feathers gleam with a rainbow of colors. It freighted Ismael out of his trance and left him with more questions than anything. He stood up and started to head back to his dorm with a leisure pace, contemplating on the meaning of the bird.

"I'll have you know I'm no pushover when I get into it!" Even though he most definitely preferred the vehicle-filled maps that came with the VCTF and Onslaught modes, he couldn't think of a good reason to justify the use of those game modes - for now. Within about 30 seconds, a local deathmatch game with no modifiers had been set up - random maps, once per map, populated by half a dozen 'noob' level bots for the sheer hell of it.

The game loaded and Nathan immediately started moving towards the rocket launcher pickup point. He had bothered to fully explore every single map to get that trophy, after all. Keeping watch for others, he managed to kill two bots without taking damage just with the starting pistol - the second kill was far easier, given the double wielding.

"Wouldn't have it any other way!," Russell said with a fun intensity. As the game came on, Russell reminiscing about the past times he's played the game. He memorized every map in the game and where the best weapons would spawn in. He had been training for this game his whole life.

The game turns on and he begins to scope the map for the large poles equidistant from his location. The game begins and Russell starts to make his character bolt to his immediate right. Running for 5 seconds before halting and shooting the wall to find a dragon's breath shotgun.

All the while, Mauve sat and sipped her tea, occasionally reaching to pluck a seed from the pomegranate half on the end table. Games were not her forte, not at all. Technology in general actually. Fluores would've probably attested to that. God, she still cringed when she thought of the... eventful... setup of Ismael's birthday party. It'd been a nice party though. Fortuna even played the fiddle. Fortuna... Giving up on trying to understand how the game worked, Mauve sipped the last of her tea and put the cup away, grabbing her laptop in the process before sitting down on her bed once again. Opening said laptop, Mauve typed in her password (which she kept very, very secret) and checked her email to see if Fortuna had responded yet. No luck. Oh well, there were plenty of things to do when you had a computer on hand.

Ismael quietly opened the door and walked over to his bed and quietly sat down as he rummaged through his bag and pulls out a sketch book and starts to sketch. He starts to draw the bird in his image, it looks majestic now as Ismael adds the details and leaves the tips of the feathers blank to leave for coloring later. He then flips the page and starts to sketch a metal glove with a rose on it.

Far too absorbed in the ongoing game - the game's kinda close and stuff is flying everywhere - for something that's not even VR, Nathan almost missed Izzy's return. Well, the shotgun and explosion sounds didn't really help, either.

Taking advantage of the fact that Russell had just turned him into a bunch of bloody meat morsels, he uttered a "Damn. Just you wait..." while glancing over at Izzy's bed. He wasn't really sure wether he should say it or not, but the guy was amazing at this kinda game and also great fun to play with. After waiting for some sort of significant movement signifying the end of the, uh, chimera's first sketch, a period which spanned several killing sprees on both players' side, Nathan took advantage of the slight pause in his friend's activity. "Hey Izzy, wanna join?"

Russell was actually beginning to have fun. While there were games at Atlas, he never really had fun like this. Especially on his first day there. He found it funny that he bonded with his teammate Nathan through a murderous video game, but he digressed. He was just happy that the flashbacks weren't as pronounced anymore.Maybe this could really be a new home for him!

Noticing that Ishmael had returned, he wanted to find a way to get his rather distant teammate to enjoy himself. Russell said, "That's a really good drawing, Ishmael!" He turned his head away for a second before he realized that Nathan had found his location in game.

Alright, so this is dragging a bit. Anyone have anything interesting to do? I can whip up a small mission? Or we can ask someone to DM a mission for us to be called on?

Mauve perked up as she heard Ismael reenter the dorm room, glad that he didn't wander off for too long. She was still lacking anything to meaningful to do though... She didn't really feel like practicing any musical instruments, it'd be impolite. Embroidery? She hadn't done it in a while, and her mother always said that it was a useful skill to have. Honestly though, Mauve could find it a little boring. She was good, but it was boring. Half of her wanted to leave and go train or something, but leaving her team would be impolite as well. Due to her restlessness, Mauve started to tap her index finger on the bed, though she stopped as soon as she realized she was doing it, clenching the bed sheets tightly. Fidgeting was also impolite.

Ismael answers Nathan in a small sigh as he places his notebook on his bed. He goes to sit next to Nathan as he said to his new teammate for complimenting his drawing, "Thanks". Ismael doesn't really like to have his drawing seen, and keeps all his drawings a secret, but Ismael knew that his new teammate was trying to get on his good side and he can appreciate the effort.

(Yass. Bonding. Character development. I'm all for it.)

Nathan didn't look at Izzy's drawing - he knew they were for him only to see - and handed him the controller he had. "Here, bugger's right in front o' ya. Start pwning!" With that, he went back to his bedside dresser, took a gulp or three of tea - why the hell did this taste so good? - and produced another roll and controller from the drawer, which he quickly plugged into the computer before installing himself on the floor, sitting with his legs crossed.

Russell was having fun. He was doing pretty well in the game and he was happy to hear from Ishmael. He was starting to feel at home. Moments later, he got killed in the game. "Oh man. Where'd you come from?," Russell said, waiting to respawn.

While waiting, he noticed Mauve wasn't really doing anything. She went through all that trouble to make him welcome but he felt like he hadn't done the same. He quickly scanned for another controller. "Hey Nathan, if you have another controller, maybe we can all play together. What do you think?" He hoped Mauve would come over and join in. Maybe it could break her out of her shell a little bit more.

Mauve gave Russell a small smile when he suggested that Nathan find another controller so she could play with them. "That's very thoughtful of you Mr. Omhiaba, but I must politely decline. Video games aren't exactly my forte, nor are they something I'm particularly interested in, this kind particularly. I still appreciate the thought be-oh!" The exclamation was brought on by a notification on her scroll, from Beacon judging by the personalized alert that sounded.

Mauve opened the message, skimming over the contents inside. "Well... Team F-Rose, team Rose... We have a mission alert. Two choices, urgent." At this point, she got up off of the bed and walked to the front of the room, posture perfect as ever. She made sure that everyone was listening before continuing to inform the team about the message she received. "First, there are a few vacationing caravans that have gotten lost in an area that's known to be populated with a good number of Grimm. They called in a few hours ago to say that they were lost but alive. We would have the task of locating these travelers and making sure no harm befalls them. We would be accompanied by a former hunter or huntress from the closest village. Second, a village fell a couple days ago, terrible tragedy, heard about it on the news, details later if we pick... Some of its inhabitants are still there, but there's also a convergence of Grimm heading towards it. We would need to hold the Grimm at bay while officials and such escort the villagers out via airship. A hunter or huntress would accompany us and assist. Also, there are a number of combat-capable people there." Finished, Mauve looked up again. "Any opinions?"

Ismael grits his teeth as he hears they needed to choose which people to save. Then they had choose who they are damning. Ismael wanted to save both, but he they were unable to have that option. He nearly crushes the controller in his hands until he gets up and puts the controller down and leaves with a: "I'm going to get my gear".

Nathan smiled knowingly as Mauve explained why he hadn't suggested for her to join. Truth was, she'd pretty much never played video games before and preferred reading anyway.

The following subject, however, made him drop his smile as well as his attention on the game. Putting the controller down, he listened to Mauve with a blank look that few could manage, and gave his opinion when it was asked. "I say we should go to the village first, since we already know it's being targeted. After that, we could rush over to the caravan if nobody took up the mission." He knew Izzy wasn't okay with having to choose - so much was obvious by his reaction - but that didn't mean they couldn't end up doing both.

Russell respected Mauve's decision to not join the game as she didn't seem like the type to play, but he wasn't a big talker growing up either. Then the alarm sounded. It surprised him as he was just used to a large militaristic siren but he wasn't going to complain.

He listened attentively to the choices Mauve presented him with. He mulled over the choices as he knew that the caravan needed help but he related with the villagers a lot. He thought about his parents, tightening his fist. He walked over to his bunk and grabbed his shield and kunai pouch. "That works for me, Nathan" Russell said, "Both need our help so let's get the village first. What do you think, captain?"

"The other will most likely be taken up by another team Ismael. Don't worry." Mauve said placatingly to her teammate. "Anyway, I agree with Nathan. The village is in the most immediate danger, and so assisting it first is most appropriate." Mauve made the choice on her scroll, causing a new window with briefing information to open. "Additional information has just arrived regarding the mission. However, I recommend that we get going to the hangar first, then we can all-oh, wait... I can just send it to your scrolls. Well, Russel, do you mind giving me your contact information so I can send it to you?" Mauve looked up at the new addition, fingers readied to enter the info.

Okay. Next post will be a kinda skip. Two posts in one, time skip in-between. Also will contain the briefing info. Objections? Sorry 'bout the long wait btw. Planning is harder than you'd think. I have half a mind to just say 'fuck everything' and wing it.

Ismael stands on the air pad with a black jacket on, the seams of the jacket is a bright blue and has a blue rose on the back. He then is wearing his gun metal mask, black pants, his gauntlet and bracer with black gloves, his boots, and all his melee weapons together wrapped up and slung over his shoulder, and holding his sniper in the other hand. He now waits for his team to arrive at the air pad.

Nathan smiled - yes, he really did, and it didn't look creepy, miraculous, right? - and said "Alright, then! Let's get going! Oh and Rusty, don't worry, I'll put everything away." After that, he took his harness with him by slinging it over his shoulder, took Ergia from the top of his bedside table to under his left armpit and started disconnecting, rolling up and storing the screens and controllers.

(I'm guessing this is when the time skip occurs? I'm confuzzled.)

"Yeah, sure you can," Russell said, grabbing her scroll so that he can add his contact info. As soon as he handed it back to Mauve, there was immediately a message asking him if he wanted to officially join Team ROSE for their mission. Without hesitation, he hit the check mark. Russell might not have quite felt at home yet, but he knew that he had to make it his mission to get more out what time he had with the team. This mission was going to be the first of many. While her teammates got ready, Mauve took advantage of the bag she always had ready if there was a mission alert and took the time to instead clean up. Computer off, pomegranate remains in the trash, teacups cleaned up, one by one she took care of the things that needed to be taken care of. Once she was done, Mauve simply grabbed her weapon, the bag containing various miscellaneous materials and extra ammunition for all of their weapons, and headed out the door, holding it open for the others. “Make haste my friends, lives are at stake.” Once everyone had cleared out, Mauve turned off the lights and closed the door, then taking the lead towards the docks.

Team ROSE,

You have been assigned to an evacuation mission, brought on by the recent fall of a small village by the name of Eden in Vale caused by an unnatural rising of the water level, making it a prime target for a group of Aceans. Due to the fact that Eden was both not ready and not accustomed to fighting these particular Grimm, it didn’t take long for them to fall. At that point, the Aceans retreated back into the ocean. However, they appear to be merging with another group and heading back towards the fallen village for an unknown reason. We don’t know if there is a Karkinos present, but no one has reported one yet, so it’s most likely that there are none. Still, be on the lookout.

Your mission is to hold off the group of Aceans and any other Grimm that will inevitably come to attack the village due to the large amount of negative emotions coming from the fallen village. Meanwhile, you will also have sort of assistance in the form of numerous members of the Valish military there to also protect the village. However, you should keep in mind that their main objective is to help the citizens evacuate and you are the main force against the Grimm. You will be accompanied by a hunter by the name of Finch Gaea. He will be your main source of help and will be available for advice, though your leader Mauve makes all calls and is also liable for any consequences that come as a result of said call. Mr. Gaea does however, hold the power to pull you out if the mission proves to be too dangerous or if circumstances require it.

Our information about Eden is as follows: It is a coastal town right by the seaside in the Southwestern parts of Vale. To protect it from any aquatic Grimm, not only is the sea level too low for the terribly large Grimm, there are medium-sized cliffs right on the edge of it as well. Unfortunately, due to the rise in water level, these cliffs provide little advantage over the Aceans. On the other side of the village is a tropical jungle-like climate, rife with Grimm as well. Usually the portion near the village is too dense for larger Grimm, but medium-sized Grimm in large numbers still provide a threat. Additionally, said larger Grimm might not mind some deforestation if it gets them prey. The village has two roads leading to the two nearest villages. These will not provide a good escape route though, since they are a ways away, the reason why they haven’t been affected. In the center of Eden is a walled sort of fort, durable and able to keep a good amount of Grimm out and sustain a good amount of damage. Keep in mind that the airships sent for evacuation will not be able to fly in, and so if you make the decision to send the remaining villagers there in the event of an emergency, all efforts to evacuate will halt.

In conclusion, your main job is to protect the civilians and reduce casualties. This takes absolute priority. If possible, assisting in evacuation procedures would be good as well. A point of focus would also be the airships. The damage to them must be minimal to ensure that everyone gets out as quickly as possible. This will count for a grade, but we suggest you focus on the fact that lives are at stake and you are trying to save them.

That is all, students. Good luck.

Mauve walked into the docks area, looking for the bullhead that would take them to Eden, and the hunter who would accompany them. It wasn’t hard. The airship was fairly noticeable as the only one not sporting the military insignia in the midst of a bunch who were. Also, the person who Mauve presumed was Finch held a large piece of paper with ‘Team Rose’ written on it, much like someone would do for a relative at the airport. “There,” Mauve said, pointing at the airship and hunter. “I wager that’s the bullhead scheduled to take us to the village. Unless there is another Team ROSE that has also been assigned to a mission at the exact same time. I doubt that though.” Motioning for her teammates to follow, Mauve started off towards the bullhead.

This ‘Finch Gaea’ fellow seemed to be… normal. Tall and muscled but not overly so, with tousled blonde hair somewhere between strawberry and sandy, stubble covering his jaw. He seemed to be somewhere in his mid-twenties, and had a circular shield with some sharp looking blades sticking out of both ends, as if someone had taken a double-ended bladed staff and glued it to the back of a shield. Tucked in a holster was a hefty looking gun. Clothing-wise, nothing special, though it did look more like something Indiana Jones would wear, not a hunter. But to each their own. He was accompanied by two people, one on the older side with dark hair who seemed to be a Sergeant Major by the looks of his uniform and insignia. Mauve was very familiar with the army. The other though, was definitely not. Dark auburn hair messily tucked into a high ponytail, light olive safari jacket, green bralette top, nope. She seemed to be the same age as the Finch guy, and was arguing loudly with both of the others.

“My family is there, I deserve to be there too now let me come with you Finch!”

“Jadyn, you know I-”

“Miss Emera, I will ask that you leave us now, you do not have clearance to come on this mission.”

“Yeah, thanks to the school! God, I’m not even a student here anymore, haven’t been for years, and yet just because I associate with them I’m not allowed to go on a mission? They won’t even let me go solo! Come on, aren’t you like super important or something? Give me clearance!”

“They said you can’t come with Jadyn, because your attachment may be a liability. Come on J, just stay here, they’ll be fine.”

“Oh come on! Finch, you know how much I want-need to be there! It’s my family, I grew up in Eden, they can’t just forbid me to go! I swear if you don’t let me come along, I will hijack one of these things anyway and fly myself to Eden, you know I know how to pilot a bullhead!”

“Is that a threat Miss Emera? I suggest you don’t make any more of them.”

“I can do whatever I want just let me go on this mission!”

“Well… can you do something about getting her permission Sergeant Major?”

“Hmph. Last time I checked, whining wasn’t a way to get clearance for these things.”

“Come on dude!”

“Alright, alright. I’ll make a few calls, just… be quiet. And know that I’m not happy about this.”

All the while, Mauve and her team stood by awkwardly. She then cleared her throat to announce her arrival, ignoring the tension in the air. “Sergeant Major, Miss Emera, Mr. Gaea. y name is Mauve Roux, and these are my teammates.” She motioned towards the three behind her. “We are team ROSE, here to assist on the Eden mission. I await further orders from you sir.”

Nathan walked besides Mauve, noticing the 'Team ROSE' panel right before she spoke up. He remained at her side, offering a casual salute to the three people when Mauve introduced herself and her team.

Russell listened attentively to the superiors and filled suit with his teammates in standing at attention, though his was a little more... soldier-esque. Before him stood real Huntsmen and Huntswomen. People he aspired to be like one day. He knew that he couldn't blow this opportunity and he knew he had to keep his semblance in check for this mission.

He promptly responded to Mauve, "Understood, madam!" Then he turned back to the Huntsmen standing before him ready to hear his exact order, reaching out for his kunai knives.

The Finch guy looked surprised to see them, almost embarrassed that he didn't notice them before. "Oh, hey! I'm Finch Gaea, this," he motioned at Jadyn, who gave a disinterested wave, "is Jadyn Verda. Apparently we'll both be assisting you on the mission. Um, I assume you got the mission briefing?" Seeing Mauve respond to the affirmative, he continued, "Great, so there'll be less to detail. Time's running out though, so I think getting on the move now would be a good idea." A quick look at the nonexistant watch on his wrist confirmed this. "Yeah, it'd be best to go now so you guys can get a feel for the town, learn the layout and all."

"And if not you can just leave it all to me," Jadyn interjected. "I grew up there, and I have the most knowledge of the place. I know the ins and outs of it. My judgement should be highest, even before Finch's at times. Alright?"

Mauve smiled respectfully at Jadyn, before saying "My respects to you, Miss Verda, but the message we received from the school said that I made all final choices. I will, however, keep in mind that you have the most experience and knowledge pertaining to the village which we will be rescuing, and highly value your opinion or any advice you would give us. Would that be appropriate?"

Jadyn didn't answer, simply turning to walk into the bullhead for the team, leaving Finch to sort everything out. "Yeah, she's a bit of an acquired taste and I don't think she's actually done this before. But she's a good fighter, a good strategist, and she did grow up there, so... yeah. Anyway, let's go! Bullheads right here, I don't think there's much else to do, right?"

He watched the people around him, looking for a reaction. Russell then took his shield from his back. He wanted to speak but he knew he must wait for Mauve's leadership to shine. He knew that she was the most talkative of his new friends but he wanted to see what made her a good leader so that he could develop the necessary skills as well.

Then he looked around, scanning his surroundings, tightening the grip of his shield in case he needed to launch it at an attacking Grimm. Russell hoped that if he had to throw his kunai or his shield that he hit an Ursa.

Mauve nodded compliantly at Finch, following him as he went up the ramp into the bullhead. She motioned for her teammates to follow as well, saying, “Make haste once again, Eden faces much danger. Each second we are here is a second where they are not protected.” Of course, the Grimm had not attacked yet, but it was only a matter of time. Mauve just hoped that it was enough for them to get there and hopefully familiarize themselves with the town. If not, well, they would have to rely on Jadyn then. Even if the woman seemed to have an aversion to not being in control, maybe she’d been the leader of her team at Beacon as well, she seemed dedicated to Eden. Still, Eden was her home. Certainly their best asset would turn out to be Jadyn.

Speaking of, the huntress in question had settled herself on the two seats farthest back on the left row. She was currently busying herself with the business of caressing a pair of very long, very deadly-looking whips. The handles seemed to be loaded with Dust as well, which led Mauve to believe that the weapons had a lot more in store for any fool who decided to have a go at their user. Next to Jadyn was also a hefty gun that was similar-no, identical, to Finch’s. Partners? Old teammates? Lovers? Or just really close friends? She’d heard of matching bracelets, matching guns though… That was new. “Make yourselves at home students. We’ve got a ways to go until we reach Eden. Lucky for us and all of the lives at stake, the Aceans do too. But this pilot better hurry it up anyway!” The last part was shouted in the direction of the pilot’s quarters. “What are you waiting around for, sit already!”

“Hey, I’m still the primary guide you know.”

Jadyn scoffed. “I might not be in charge of the team, but I’m certainly in charge of you. Plus, I’ve got more experience with the setting. My town, my rules. Take a seat, Finch. ”

The hunter just shook his head in amusement. “Yes ma’am. You okay with a lowly servant sitting near you, or do you want me as far away as possible?”

“Normally yeah, but I’ll make an exception today. Come on, hurry it up, town to save.” The huntress seemed to almost start showing hints of a playful, humorous self. Just almost. It was probably the fact that she was talking to Finn, and not the students. Still though, it was a little strange to watch someone lighten up so quickly, even if not too too much, and even more when Finch took a seat next to her. Perhaps it was the hunter’s seemingly always-jolly mood taking effect on the people around.

Mauve herself just took a seat across from the two, setting her weapons down on the floor and propping them on her bag.

Ismael slowly breathed out as he finally started to take in the full grasp of the situation. He found himself in a race against time in which they had a slow start up. He slowly rocks himself into a walk to enter the vehicle and find less amusement in their banter as they seemed to find. Ismael sat slowly down next to Mauve as he sets his bundle under his seat and waits for departure. He slowly clasps his hands together and leans forward letting them rest in front of his mouth. His mind starts to run every scenario that could happen from when they land to when they leave. It could be a cake walk, or this could become a real shit show. "Only time will tell it seems".

Nathan followed suit behind Mauve, taking Ergia off his bak and resting it across his legs when he sat besides her, while Izzy took the seat on the other side of Mauve.

Russell knew that he couldn't betray his Atlas training so he followed Mauve's leadership and sat down. But his grip on his shield became greater and he wanted to get to fighting so he could prove what a great asset to the team he would be in a fight. He hadn't quite felt like he was making the right social choices but he did respect the choices of his Huntsman elders. He took his seat and wait for this caravan to get moving.

(Timeskip to arrival)

Jadyn uncoiled from her strangely cat-like sleeping position, yawning and looking out the window to confirm that yes, they had arrived at Eden. While she spent a bit more time looking out, perhaps to reminisce or take it in, Finch stepped down the newly-opened ramp, squinting and looking out at the town. "It's very pretty," he commented, and this was no simple flattery. The walls were bright white, some ivory, some simply painted, with lush greenery everywhere. The villagers seemed to like their gardens. Residential houses all looked very similar, but each with their own defining touch.

"Pretty?" asked Jadyn bitterly. "It used to be beautiful." The town was also rife with evidence of the attack, a good number of walls knocked down and crumbling, plant life looking dull due to the villagers focusing their efforts on evacuating instead of gardening. Some spots were charred and patches of dirt marred the ground where it seemed grass should've been. A particularly large house seemed to be standing in for an additional clinic, though a part of the wall was knocked down, giving everyone a view of the inside. People hurried to and fro, though only a small number were ready to board the ships. One of those few was a woman looking to be about in her mid-forties, holding a small infant in her hand.

"Mrs. Everett?" Jadyn asked as the woman passed by. "Why are you holding little Willow? Where's Sonya and Verde?"

This 'Mrs. Everett' seemed both surprised and immensely relieved to see Jadyn there. "Oh my dear Jadyn it's such a relief to see you here." A hug commenced between the two before the woman continued talking. "Don't worry darling, Sonya's helping out others in the village, but Verde was injured in the attack, so he just went ahead of us with a few other critically injured people on the med carrier they sent. He was hurt pretty bad, but they've got all this fancy tech in there and they said he'd be alright. I have to go now dear, but you do your best to help everyone here alright?" She hugged Jadyn one last time before heading towards another carrier.

In the meanwhile, Mauve was readying her weapons and making sure all her supplies and ammunition were present. Once that was confirmed, she stood to head out of the bullhead, motioning for her team to follow. "Eden beckons you, dear teammates. We won't have much time before the Aceans make a return, so we better familiarize ourselves with the town as best as we can before that happens. And of course we'll need to go over strategy and such, how to combat the Aceans specifically and any other Grimm that follow." Turning her head to smirk at the other three in her team, Mauve said, "I sincerely hope that you paid attention in class."

Once she was out of the aircraft, Finch focused his attention on the team instead of his partner, who seemed to be busy talking to several villagers, presumably to get a better hold on the situation. "Hey, there you are! So we have a little time before the Aceans are predicted to attack, but it's not too much, so don't get comfy. Make good use of what time we have, get familiar with the layout of the town, take inventory, do all of that. Once you've relayed the plan to me, I'll go check in with the head guy and take care of anything that needs to be taken care of there."

"Well excuse me, but... Miss Jadyn?" asked Mauve. As the huntress raised her eyebrow in reply, the student continued, "could you please do us the favor of drawing up a quick map of the place? I understand you might not remember all of it exactly, but it would be nice to have a rough idea of the place, maybe an idea of where important places, such as the medical center, are?" Mauve smiled politely at the woman, hoping that she wasn't going to be as crass as she was when they'd first met.

Looking a little out of her element, which would make sense as Finch had mentioned how she hadn't monitored a team before, Jadyn agreed, taking a pen and some paper from her bag. "I can do that. Anything else you guys'll need?"

Spoiler: ShowHide
I'll get a rough estimate of Eden up next post, as Jadyn's drawing.

Ismael slowly woke up as he found they came to a final decent. He yawned and stretched as he listened to Mauve as he looked out to find they were in a place that looked very similar to his home. He slide out the bundle under his seat and slung it over his shoulder as he started to see what was being exactly done. He heard that plans were being somewhat outlined and a map was being made. He took a moment to think and then tried to find details of the surroundings, "Excuse me, I would like to ask what is the fauna and flora that is found around here?". Ismael starts looking out seeing where he could lay some kind of trap.

Nathan offloaded from the airship when it was his turn - for yes, there was a set order - and more or less... just stood there, passively gathering all available information, his hands in his side pockets. It looked pretty damn fabulous, save for the odd destroyed bit. He turned hies ears' attention towards Mauve as she spoke, continuing to observe the surroundings. At her joke-laden tone about paying attention in class, he answered "Yes, ma'am.", a smirk appearing on the left corner of his mouth.

When she asked the - relatively anxious - individual named Jadyn, Nathan took the opportunity to nonchalantly whisper to her, and only her, "Speaking of maps, think I should do a bit of airborne recon?"

Russell concurred with Nathan; a map of the surrounding area would be useful. He wanted to get going as soon as he could, but he awaited for Mauve's order.
"Any particular areas we should turn our attention to first?" Russell asked.
He kept his grip on his shield closer. He started to think of his family and knew that his team needed to act fast.
Looking at his teammates, he knew that he would be able to take the most damage but move the slowest, so he would need to tag along with one of them. But which one would be the best move strategically?
"And if we need to split up, who would go where?"

Jadyn started to work on her makeshift map, borrowing some colored pencils from some kid. "I'll do my best, but I'm no artist, so don't expect it to be a Picasso, alright?" In the meanwhile, she took the time to answer the questions Ismael and Russell posed.

"Just say plants and animals next time kiddo," she said dryly, pausing to look up at Ismael before resuming her drawing. "Plants, there are a bunch of garden-variety things all over. People here like their gardens. Some of the species are actually really rare, and that's how some people make their living here. Again, mostly garden stuff. You can find a lot of vines and stuff though. Ferns, flowers, whatever." To enunciate, Jadyn fluttered a hand in the air, presumably trying to gesture at their surroundings. "Trees are of the tropical variety, you won't find many evergreens. There are huge fields to the East, we're entering West by the way. Apple trees, Eden's apples are pretty pricy. Go for quite a bit of cash. The process is super secret, but Granny Wentre says all of them have been plucked clean by now. Good thing it's already end of season. If perhaps this doesn't last, maybe they can start planting again without too much trouble." Her hand suddenly stilled for a bit before adding things in a lot of different places. "Look at the bottom for what the numbers mean. What was the other question again?" she asked. "Oh yeah, animals. Just normal animals. Squirrels, stray cats and dogs, snakes, we have a snake problem, foxes, the like. Sometimes more exotic creatures wander in from the jungle. "

"As for any special areas," said Jadyn slowly, "I... Let me think." After a long pause, Jadyn picked up pen and resumed both writing and speaking. "To the left, there's the clinic, barracks, and storage. You'll find supplies there, combat-capable people, and people who need to be helped. Straight ahead is the community center. People go there to barter, to talk, to shop and sell, all sorts of things. But the second and third levels are capable of holding out a large number of Grimm. You can issue a retreat there, but I don't think that carriers will fit." At this point it seemed that the huntress had finished her makeshift map, which she handed off to Finch, who'd been helping villagers along to the carriers in the meanwhile.

He looked it over shortly before taking out his scroll and snapping a picture of it, saying "Thanks Jadyn, maybe it was a good idea having you here after all. It'll help to have someone familiar with the layout and all of that. I'm going to check in with the... whoever leads the town, alright? You guys," he gestured to the team, "can relay your plan to Jadyn instead."

"Go, go, no one's stopping you." Jadyn waved her comrade on, taking back the map in the process. She stood up and handed it to Mauve, then stepped to face the whole team. "If you need to split up, someone absolutely has to go across the town, across the fields, because there are houses over there too, and they can't be ignored. The forests to the North and South don't hold Grimm that you should worry about, maybe a stray beowolf or two, but the people here can take care of those. The jungles to the East are what you need to worry about. There are mountains fairly close by too. The elders always tell stories about some winged monsters and beasts from there to scare the kids, but who knows? They might not be completely false. Alright?"

To answer Nathan, Mauve shook her head very slightly. It wouldn't be needed with Jadyn's map, and conserving fuel would be a good idea, especially against Aceans and any winged Grimm that might come from the mountains. Plus, she didn't want Jadyn to feel like they didn't trust her. That would be bad. "Thank you very much for your help Jadyn, it's reassuring to know that we won't be walking blind. Now of course we would need to split up. Take inventory, gather people who may be able to help in holding back the Grimm, send them to hold ground around the border, especially the North and South so we don't have to worry about it and can worry exclusively about the Aceans and the Grimm that might populate the Eastern jungle or mountains." She flicked her gaze to the East for a moment, and if she focused, it was true that there were mountains nearby, particularly nasty-looking ones too. If she remembered correctly, she'd been through the area before, when running from the White Fang. Some very dangerous Grimm did indeed reside on those mountains. "Just doing a quick sweep of the town and most definitely the community center is a good idea too. Any other ideas?" As she asked the question, Mauve looked directly at Nathan. He was the strategic, logical type, and she wanted to see to what degree he could help in that area.

Here's the map in link form because you'll need to see it enlarged for it to be any good: http://imgur.com/a/zAwSW

N, S, E: jungle

Natendo, I'm going to need Nathan to take a larger role in strategy for this mission, not too much, just enough so that I'm not playing the sole decision make and the one who knows how those decisions will play out.

Ismael nodded as he said to Jadyn, "Thank you". Ismael looks out and starts to see where is the best place to set up a line of defense. Maybe he could scatter his weapons in a way to lighten his load. He sighed as he hopped out and started looking around to find spots and areas to place weapons strategically. He drops his weapons and takes up his scythe and takes up a throwing position and with one hand he hurls the scythe and dug it into the tree about 20 feet off the ground. Ismael then picked up his swords and stabbed them into the ground in a X pattern as he picked his sniper and climbed the wall to place it up in a decent sniping position. He sat up there as he started looking around to see what everyone else is doing

Nathan looked back towards Jadyn after getting his answer from Mauve. She was, as was most often the case, correct.

As Jadyn finished speaking, Nathan turned his gaze every which way, trying to get a good feel of the surroundings, both within and outside the walls. Meanwhile, Mauve answered Rusty's first question with a simple statement (the second one didn't really register, apparently) and, as she asked for other ideas, turned to him. Well, that's how it sounded. To confirm this, he looked back at her. Oh wow, she really was asking him a bit more. Nathan started to say "Well, uh-" when he caught a quick movement out of the corner of his eye. Switching his sights to try and find out what the hell was happening, he witnessed Izzy 'dropping off' some of his weapons before climbing a wall. "...As Izzy is demonstrating, no, not really. Maybe a quick sweep of the area surrounding the walls, too, so we don't go into any fights without knowing the area's general disposition."

He briefly paused before asking "Oh, and as Rusty asked, who's with whom?" He knew Mauve was his partner - in many ways - but she might decide on spreading the team differently.

Hearing Nathan call him Rusty made Russell happy, but he didn't want to come off as too excited about it. He knew that he and Nathan had already bonded but knew it would be a while before he and Ishmael could be on the same page entirely.

But maybe that could be sped up. Harkening back to his more-militant days at Atlas, Russell stood up and said " Ma'am, I would like to follow behind Ishmael and provide defensive support. My shield and kunai are well equipped to help in case of battle."

Russell said Ma'am in order to see which leader would speak up: Mauve or Jadyn?

Mauve nodded as Nathan suggested some more things that might be a help to do. And of course Ismael was being Ismael. She waved him down before relaying her decision to the rest of the team.

"Sweet of you to say so Mr. Omhiaba, but Ismael is more than capable of holding his own in combat, with or without backup. There's really no reason for you to need to tail him like so, the Grimm aren't here." After a pause, Mauve added, "I mean, not yet." She made a dismissing motion with her hand and continued to say, "Anyway, you're with me." A glance was sent Nathan's way just to say 'nothing against you.' She was the leader, and it was her job to make Russell feel included. She doubted that'd happen with Ismael, however well-meaning or not her teammate was. "We'll go and make acquaintence with the people who are capable of combat, and perhaps we'll be able to check up on the amount of supplies in the area."

"Nathan, Ismael," she turned her head a bit to face them more, manners, "I need you to make a detailed sweep around the whole town, get your bearings and all, be familiar with the layout of it. In case I don't have the time to know it better myself, it's important that you do." As the leader, it would've made sense for her to be one of the people who made the sweep, as she called the shots, but Nathan was more than capable with strategy and as the leader, it'd be better for her to be calling the shots with the villagers instead, to relay her thoughts better.

Meanwhile, Jadyn was leaning against a convenient tree, listening to Mauve explain. "I can take you guys," she interjected, 'you guys' meaning Nathan and Ismael. "To go around the town and all. Oh, um..." Jadyn quickly snapped a photo of her own of the drawn map on her scroll before giving it to Nathan. "Here. I don't need it, but you do."

Mildly surprised but grateful nonetheless, Mauve smiled pleasantly at the huntress. "That would be much appreciated, Miss." Met with a nod in return, she took that as her cue. "Alright, disband, you know what to do. Russell, come." Mauve broke off from their gathering to go in the direction of the barracks, clinic, and storage/armory. Quite convenient that they were in the same direction. As for conversation, she waited for Russell to start it off. She would probably just ask polite but meaningless questions, and that wouldn't do much good, no. Neither would questions that seemed too nosy. It was much better to let Russell speak first. Strategy wasn't always just limited to the battlefield.

Ismael sets down his rifle and stretches before he shimmies' down and says, "Alright let's turn sparks into an inferno". As Ismael passes by Russell he pats him on the back as he says in a nonchalant manner, "Hey, loosen up. As we are here we set the tone. Give a rhythm and the beat will be followed". Ismael starts to walk around and takes in the views as he pulls out his little black book and begins to write and draw out different sketches of the area.

Nathan winked at Mauve as a 'got ya', then proceeded to follow Izzy around, taking in the location like he did but with a different method. Before that, though, he also agreed with Jadyn, saying "Yes, please!". After a few seconds, he added "Say Izzy, didn't you leave all your weapons back where we arrived?"

"Understood, ma'am", Russell replied, following behind Mauve. Being a big fan of watching a leader's individual style should be. He was more than willing to learn from Mauve and the other Huntsmen. He sheathed his weapons and cracked a minute smirk when he heard Mauve call him by his first name. "Mr. Omhiaba" was way too formal for him and reminded him way too much of Atlas. He was at Beacon now and wanted a clean slate.

Hearing that he would only be meeting the capable fighters, Russell knew not to expect Atlas soldiers in the forefront. Capable to him meant able bodied, but the body isn't always able especially when it comes to the Grimm. Just keep that semblance in check, kid and this mission should go just fine, Russell pondered, keeping pace with Mauve.

Jadyn narrowed her eyes at Ismael. Strange kid. But she shook it off, instead saying, "I think you should get some of those. No serious threats, but there might be a few stray Beowolves. Or snakes. Again, snake problem." She shrugged. "Up to you though."

While she waited on that, Jadyn restlessly looked around at her surroundings, the tightness in her expression clear as day. "As you can see on the map, Eden's arranged pretty neatly, like a grid. Would you like to thread through the village first or do a perimeter sweep first? Up to you. Just... don't make too much of a ruckus around here. They like their peace." Quietly, she added "Maybe too much..."

Meanwhile, Mauve was still heading towards her destination, her left hand on the hilt of one of her weapons, always on the ready for an attack. She also kept her eyes sharp, to notice anything out of the ordinary. It appeared though, that the only disturbances that she would be met with were stray cats and a few snakes. They didn't look too dangerous, but the most deadly ones never did. "Watch your step," she cautioned him. "Our slithery friends don't seem too happy even without a rogue foot on them."

"We're heading to the barracks first," Mauve told Russell as they neared the intersection where their points of interest lie. "I'd suppose they have the most to tell us, about supplies, village layout, specific things to pay attention to regarding this town, wouldn't you agree, Mr. Omhiaba?" She reverted back to using his last name, slightly chastising herself for slipping and using his first name earlier. She was also a bit disappointed he hadn't said much yet. He didn't seem much like the social type, or maybe that was just because of her high-ranking status. She doubted that he hadn't heard of her, or at least her last name before, being a former citizen of Atlas. But some people didn't pay attention to debutante scandal, as her tragedies would be to normal people.

As Ismael is walking and sketching he hears Nathan talk about his choice, "Should I move them more about? Wait...oh you mean I have no weapons. No I have this on me"[/glow]. He holds up his gauntlet and deploys the knife as he continues, "If we run into anything more than a few Beowolves, yes I would be of little help, but at that point we'd have bigger problems anyway".
Title: Re: New Buds [Closed]

Nathan, who was already looking at the ground to know where he was going, doubled his concentration to spot snakes before they walked too close. He also nodded at Izzy's affirmation(s) which, all in all, was a fairly good point. Plus he was armed, so if a minor gang popped up, he'd probably be able to cover for a retreat. AND there was Jadyn. So many things. He snarkastically (or was it snarcastically?) added "Besides, you have me, right?"

Speaking of Jadyn, he answered her question with "I'd hazard the perimeter first. Especially since it may vary wildly compared to streets and isn't described on the map. Oh and don't worry, we're both closer to the quiet types, to be honest."

Nathan then thought back to his first few interactions with Izzy. "...More often than not, anyway."

"That would be my best guess, ma'am," Russell replied. He did find the Mr. Omhiaba thing a bit much, but he did know of the Roux family and their eloquent speech. He wanted her to be more casual as he found that the more casual he became, the more he could maybe open up. Maybe. But that would be kind of hard when you tower over your leader.

But now was not the time for all this sappy nonsense. Meeting the men and women in the barracks could be the most beneficial move Team ROSE could make. They began to approach the barracks when Russell spoke to Mauve. "Do you think will be one of your easier outings or could this be a longer battle than what we're used to?"

Russell cared for her answer, but his answer would be the same regardless: take down the Grimm and protect the village.

Jadyn hesitantly nodded at everything, brow still slightly furrowed. “Alright then, if you say so.” Quieter, she muttered, “Not going to matter if this place gets smashed to bits anyway.” To be honest, she did doubt the ability of the team, but even if they surpassed her expectations, the town would still have to fall. The mission wasn’t to save the town, it was to evacuate the people, and she knew that it meant this would probably be the last time she ever saw her home.

Brushing it off and toughening up her outside appearance, narrowed eyes, rigid posture, pursed lips and all, Jadyn started off towards the limestone cliffs and shrubbery that it was home to. She didn’t know shit about strategy, but they were the closest and they might as well start there. “Come on, no time to waste.”

“To be quite honest, I’m not sure,” admitted Mauve. “The premise of it seems to be challenging, no? But I’ve seen that you never really know until it’s already started. Either way, we still must give it our all.”

Looking to change the subject, Mauve focused her gaze on the barracks they were now standing in front of. It wasn’t very large, as would be expected of a small town like Eden. Two stories, the top one was smaller and a bit offset from the center, which, in the back of her mind, Mauve gave style points for. The building was made of brick and accented with marble, such as lining the many windows that the building had. It seemed that most of the occupants were in the yard, limbering up or readying their weapons. Curiously, with the large array of them, it seemed that they were less like soldiers than people who’d had hunter training. That was good.

It was easy to tell who the leader was, judging by his uniform being the highest-looking. She doubted that they would let a small-town leader be a General of the Army, so the four stars labeling him general would place him at the top of the ladder for this particular establishment. Also, he was the one who approached them, which would be a dead giveaway too. He was an older-looking gentleman with the salt and pepper hair, but it seemed that age had not taken its toll on him, not quite yet. “You must be the students Beacon sent,” he said as he approached them. “General Arc Winston.”

Mauve stood at parade rest to address the man though did not salute, the good manners being from her father’s military background and both of her parents’ insistence on proper etiquette. “Good morning General Winston,” she greeted politely. “My name is Mauve Roux, I am the leader of Team ROSE, the team sent to assist you today.”

The general nodded, then turned to look at Reggie. Mauve assumed that Atlas at least taught their students how to address high-ranking officers, but she was a bit nervous for him nonetheless.

A Jadyn's cue, Nathan promptly followed her, keeping an eye out for snakes. Cute but potentially lethal, the things.

When Izzy added he'd be, in some aspect, splitting off, Nathan answered with "Alright, but stay within sight, okay, please? We are supposed to be in pairs." He then turned back towards his guide, keeping an ear out for a potential response from Ismael - however improbable it may be.

Russell stood by Mauve's side, hoping that the general would acknowledge him as he still donned an Atlas armband he received when he arrived at the academy. That being said, he did not speak out of turn, that way he wouldn't interfere with the two leaders conducting a strategy for this mission.

Just then, the general nodded toward him. Russell promptly stuck out his hand and said, "Sir, I am Russell Omhiaba. I am a new member of Team ROSE and former Atlas Academy huntsman-in-training, sir." To him, even saying that much felt like too much and he knew that there was a key word he missed. Either way he was ready to listen to the general's plan.

Jadyn only stopped walking when she was a few feet away from the cliff's edge. "Cliffs. These are what usually keep us from too many Grimm, though down there used to be some beach land, not like the water level today." She gestured over to her right and said, "Over there's the fisherman's pass down the cliffs. It's a relatively safe path, but cramped, probably would only be wide enough for one or two people. And you have to kind of watch your step. I said relatively for a reason." The huntress then turned around to see what the boys were doing and possibly answer any questions or receive some comments about it.

The general nodded and shook Russell's hand. "Atlas, huh?" His expression was nigh-unreadable then, though internally he was wondering why Russell didn't address him by his name first, as was expected according to 'courtesy.' To be honest he didn't even care, it was just that he thought Atlas academy was some prissy prick's place, but oh. "It's a pleasure to have you both, and I thank you for the help."

"Now," he said, getting down to business. "State your business showing up at this particular area, tell me what you need and I will do my best in ensuring you get what you need to protect those of this town, hmm?"

Mauve nodded politely in response. "We came here to have an understanding of your current strategy for battling the Grimm, the position of your troops and whatnot. We also wish to speak to some of your fighters, and you as well, sir, to gather any extra information that may be helpful." She was careful to include the general in her last sentence, for fear that excluding him would be rude. Manners and all, she was always thinking about it. "A supply check would also be very nice if you don't mind, General."

"That sounds reasonable," said the general. "If you wouldn't mind waiting, I'll be right back, I need to get someone."

"Not at all, sir." replied Mauve. As soon as the man was a sufficient distance away, Mauve asked Russel "So, what do you think about him so far? Any thoughts?"

Ismael slowly walked around to start looking around more thoroughly, no knowing what to find, but wondering what is to be found. Ismael started to look deeper into the forest just wanting to feed a feeling of distress he had as he felt that something is strange, his curiosity and feeling hasn't wronged him yet, why would it be now.

Aaaaand Izzy didn't make a peep. Of course he didn't.

Meanwhile, Jadyn more or less said "CLIFFS", then detailed the particularities of the fisherman's path. "Oooh, that's great. Not only are they super vulnerable if they try to climb, you can also try and herd a few off to be dealt with later, so to speak. Awesome. Add to that that anything trying to take the path is pretty much asking for an immediate and rather brutal death, this is pretty freaking solid.

By the way, would you happen to know when the next tide is, and whether it's high or low?"

"He seemed like he wasn't big into Atlas. Most of my former superiors weren't big on acknowledging us in the field. But I'm more interested in who is getting to help us. That determines the real plan of action."

Russell becoming more receptive of Mauve's relaxed demeanor at this time as that got him through that intimidating time right the general. He kept his eyes on the surrounding area as to preemptively plan a defensive strike.

Jade raised an eyebrow at Nathan as he spoke, realizing that he clearly misunderstood. "The fisherman's pass is for humans. The Aceans just climb up the face of the cliffs. They don't take the stairs." She huffed in amusement and turned back to face the ocean. "It's easier for them now that the water level's so high, they don't have to climb as much out of water. But either way I would think that the climb is where they'd be vulnerable."

"Tides? Uh..." Jadyn hesitated, somewhat embarrassed that she had no idea. "I'm really not sure... " But after a few moments of awkward silence, she remembered that there was a way to find out at least if it was high tide or low tide at the moment. She crouched down to look at where the water met the cliffs, seeing that there was a pretty thick dark area on the cliff wall above the sea. "Well according to that, the sea level can be quite a bit higher so I'd say it isn't high tide right now. Maybe not all the way to the top of that water mark down there, but close."

Mauve nodded absently rather than respond as the general was quickly returning to them. She could draw her own conclusions about him, but she wanted to assess how good Russell was with the fine details of social cues and the such. It wasn't much to go off on, really, she'd have to test him on that more some time later. He at least didn't seem as inept as Nathan and Ismael. That was good.

The man beside the general looked to be fairly young, surprisingly. Dark-skinned and dark-haired, tall enough, and face lacking any telltale wrinkles or the touch of age. A quick look at his hands and neck confirmed Mauve's thoughts, he was probably in his mid-twenties. He, like the general, was wearing a more milatary-like outfit, though his obviously showed his rank to be lower.

"This," the general said, gesturing to the man, "is my second-in-command and adopted son, Jack."

'Jack' gave Mauve a quick salute, though it seemed to be more of a friendly gesture than a military thing. "Yeah, I basically micromanage people here on a smaller scale. My father's men are currently sprinkled around the North, East, and South borders, with a few more on the East because of obvious reasons. The others are attending to the wounded and helping people onto the aircrafts to evacuate."

"We plan on keeping watch over those borders while you take care of the Acean threat, though backup might be needed from you on the East if we get something we can't handle easily enough." He smiled. "Mostly though, we were told to focus our efforts on making sure everyone gets out. The protecting part is up to you. Is there anything specific that you'd like us to do?"

Mauve turned to Russell, tilting her head questioningly. "Do you have any suggestions, Mr. Omhiaba?" It might've seemed weird to some, but Mauve liked to feel out new people, not just have them say what they were and weren't good at when some matters could simply be lack of experience or trying. She hoped that the military presence would evoke something out of Russell, or at the least make him feel like he was in his own element.

Sorry, I absolutely forgot it was my turn.

As Ismael went deeper into the trees he heard the slow gallup of a house, and once he spotted the source of the sound he was shocked. He says sole man on a wagon lead by a horse which made Ismael worried for the mans well being. As Ismael neared he said in a calm voice, "Excuse me, why are you still here shouldn't you be gone?".

As the man hears a noise he turns and pulls out and old double barreled shotgun as he sees what is there. His black hood and scarf covering the majority of his face as his blood red eyes squint as Ismael, they soften as he moves the gun back to his passenger side as he finally spoke in a almost silent but audible voice, "I was being held up. I'll be fine. I'm strong. I have a weapon, I'll be gone soon".

Ismael looked strangely at the man as he can't make out too much of a voice pattern. The voice seems to waver from a staggering of words to a solid whistle of words. Ismael starts to look confused as he said, "Well, do you mind if I take a look in your cart?"

The man started to look at Ismael with eyes of blankness as he said, "No, I must leave. Time's short". And he starts to head off, leaving Ismael in a wake of dust and wounder as Ismael just realized he is now there by himself as the man leaves in a hurry.

Ismael then finally snaps out of an almost autopilot mode as he realise the man fully left and he didn't even know why he was leaving so later he started going back starting to worry for the man, but still not understanding his actions, or even why Ismael was attracted to the man in a way. He felt an almost magnetic feel towards him as if he knew him. But Ismael leaves it for further debate for a later time, he needs to hurry back to finish his "quick" search.

"Oh. Well, yeah, that makes sense.", Nathan responded as Jadyn stated the fact that Grimm didn't take the stairs. He should've thought about it, honestly.

"That's good, means the killzone'll get even bigger. As long as there's enough manpower, this side should be relatively okay to defend."

After getting up from staring at the cliff wall below, he made a brief 360 to get a read on Izzy - nowhere to be found, god dammit man - and then turned towards his elder, asking her "Anything else you have on your mind about this place? Or should we head to another location?"

Any suggestions, Russell thought, curious to why Mauve, as leader, didn't make a plan. Russell stood puzzled, thinking as hard as he could. He wasn't used to being the strategist type, preferring to be the wall the enemy had to get pass in order to hurt his team. And the Grimm only made him think of his parents.

Wait, that is the plan. Russell addressed the three awaiting his plan, saying, "General, sir, ma'am, if I may speak honestly, I'm not the biggest on planning, but from what I can gather, we need three things: reassurance, confusion and confusion." As the three looked at him, confused by his words, Russell soon realized he need to explain what those words meant.

The people are probably scared, fearing and losing people in the panic. That's what is drawing the Grimm. I remember it happening to my village so the first step will be getting the supplies to the medics.

Confusion is the next step. If we can confuse the Grimm by either tiring them out, trapping them or using the elements to funnel them into, I don't know, quicksand or starting a sudden fire, they should run and Mauve and I can stop focus on the Acean threat while escorting the people should any of them intervene in our pathway.

In the worst case of your troops failing in the East, I'd believe it best for you and Mauve to get immediate transport there while I handle the rest here. You both are much faster and even if my shield breaks, you can trust that I won't."

After Russell finished, he felt light-headed. He was nervous as he want his plan was thrown together from things he's seen and he hoped that they could understand what his plan meant. It was merely a theory. "How does that sound, sir?"

"Yes, I suppose it would provide us with the advantage. Most if not all of our efforts should be concentrated here when the come, the less that make it up here, the less damage we take and the less casualties." Jadyn nodded absently, mentally patting herself on the back for thinking so logically, normally she was just the brawn.

After thinking for a moment, she shook her head at Nathan's inquiry. "No, that's about it. Let's head North. I'm sure your friend will catch up. At least he better." Not really waiting for any further input, she started walking along the cliff's edge to the right, the Northern forests her destination.

Mauve blinked a bit at Russell's strategy. Well, they already had two strategists on the team, it was okay. He did bring up some fair points but not all of his points were really too solid. The slightly hesitant faces of the military leaders in front would say the same.

"Well," she started, "it would be quite a feat to calm the villagers down when we and they possess the knowledge that the Acean's returning is a certainty. Anything we could say would ultimately be a lie, one that wouldn't be too good considering the villagers are pretty well-informed of the reason they have to pack up." Thinking it over again, she added, "or just meaningless filler. And about the Grimm, perhaps it's just them coming back knowing that it's an easy target? Either way, reassurance will do nothing at this point."

"The medics are our next stop," Mauve confirmed. "We'll see if they need our assistance, though to be honest the supplies shack is on the clinic grounds and I would assume the visiting Valish troops brought extra..." She trailed off and looked inquisitively for confirmation from the two men standing in front of them. They nodded in reply. "Mmm. I don't suspect we could do much there though, it may seem cruel but we can do nothing to help the ones that are too far gone, nor is that our job. They have medics and we may worsen the problem, no? Our focus will be to help people evacuate. The less people that remain, the better." Accompanying her strong words, if you payed close enough attention, was an iron-sharp undertone, bordering on cold. She was leader for a reason...

"Your fire idea is... interesting." Mauve's eyes seemed to twinkle as she smirked haughtily. "Isolated and controlled fire at the borders, not in the trees please, razing the ecosystem is not something I set out to do." Jack laughed at this, finding her quite funny. "Precautions must be taken. Ice dust bordering... it seems interesting, though high risk. I don't know. Really, the only thing that I request is that you help with the Aceans when they come, right off the bat, focus there and keep people on the borders guarding. When a threat comes, then some dealing with the Aceans can move."

The general nodded gruffly. "Agreeable plan, that fire idea will be... discussed further among us." Switching his gaze to Russell, he asked, "What if something does come in from the East though? As the boy said. Your plan for that?"

Mauve hesitated. "It depends on what the threat is, for now, undecided. We will come back later with more input from the teammates scouting, they will be the main strategists. We came here mostly to hear what your plan was." She looked at Russell for any additional thoughts.

Ismael sighs as he finds that all was what it seemed, there was nothing that screamed, "I'm suspicious!", yet Ismael wished he found something like that. It would take the edge off of what he feels to be worry, anxiousness, and many other strange feelings. He lets out another sigh as he finally reaches the wall again. His anxiousness slowly creeps nearer and nearer as he finds himself not being useful in these situations, he's never been the best at devising a battle plan, he's never found himself able to comprehend a situation beyond: "I must do what I must". He climbs upon the wall again and rests near his rifle, waiting for someone to tell him the game plan.

Russell wasn't disheartened by their initial speculation of this plan. He had just thrown it together. But he did worry that they hadn't been as up close with Grimm as he was a young child but then again maybe it was time to get rid of those old childhood fears of them. But he was older; what about the kids who hadn't yet matured?

"Understood, ma'am. And General sir, I apologize that my plan isn't fully there. I'm not usually the stragestist on my team, but like I said, I will not break. My duty as Huntsman-in-training is to learn from your lead and never falter in my decisions. I might've just met Mauve and the rest of my team, but I hope I can prove valuable to you as well.," Russell passionately said.

He felt almost out of body and he was just waiting for Mauve to make him shut up. He then clutched the necklace he received from his mother before he began his training at Atlas. Russell then refocused on the General as he knew that the reaction would tell him if the General believed in him.

Really really really really sorry for this post coming almost a month late, school started and, well, yeah. Posting may be reserved for weekends/Friday from now on, with the occasional weekday post when I'm not too swamped.

"Alright," said Jadyn, gesturing randomly at the growth on their left. "North side. Forest. Trees, fairly closely packed, mostly deciduous, that's what it's called right? Haven't learned about useless stuff like that in a while. Yeah so uh, there should be enough space for the smaller Grimm, lesser ones. Don't be expecting like a Taijitu or one of those other big ones that I can't be bothered to remember."

She looked around again, focusing mostly behind her. What she saw-or rather didn't see-seemed to tick her off. She huffed in annoyance. "Where is that eccentric friend of yours? I don't remember wandering around and doing absolutely nothing of use in the mission description."

The general smiled lightly. "No worries kid, not everyone's a strategist. You'll do fine I think, but in the future I advise you to focus a little more on tactical aspects." He crossed his arms and continued, "Whether or not you're amazing at it, some knowledge would benefit you." In the background, Jack was rocking on the balls of his feet, nodding along to his father.

Mauve was about to say her farewells when she remembered something that'd certainly help later on. "Oh, pardon me, I almost forgot to ask for you contact information. In case we need to communicate at all during the mission?" The three (Jack included) traded numbers and there was that solved. "I'll text if I need any orders given out, such as to retreat or focus somewhere. Or evacuate to the center."

"We'll take our leave then, General." Mauve gave the man a shallow bow, smiling her default soft charming style, the one with just a hint of doll-like compliance. "Mr. Omhiaba is certainly very thankful for your trust and belief in our ability, as am I. We will take your advice to heart."

She lightly guided Russell's seemingly kind of nervous self away from the barracks and towards the clinic. The movement he'd made earlier, touching that necklace, hadn't escaped her gaze. More often than not, those things were caused by either familiarity, habit, or emotional attachment. She wondered which one it was. And how exactly it could help her understand him more. But there was a good chance it'd seem intrusive, so Mauve simply bookmarked that particular detail for later reference.

"Well, I can see the Atlas in you," she commented lightly as the two walked towards the clinic. "It's very apparent..."

Ismael held his gun and brought it to his cheek as he stared down its scope and waited for...something. He pulls the bolt back and let the round slide forward and let the bullet lock into the chamber. His eye began to glow and letting out electricity. And his aura started to flow as he focused the keep his sight focused and even try and have his vision tunnel and enhance his sight line to pick up any movement as he prepared. Maybe he might need to fight before anyone can talk to him. He will have to see what comes first.

Nathan listened as Jadyn gave further info about their surroundings, absentmindedly nodding when she rhetorically asked whether the correct term was deciduous or not. Still following her, he looked at the underbrush and general state of the forest's edge himself, finding his guide to be absolutely correct.

When she asked him a question for real this time, he made a brief 360 scan of the area before turning back to her. "No idea. Knowing him, he's either keeping an eye out for Grimm or helping people out. He's usually less of a thinking type and more of a doing one."

My bad y'all. Exams and quizzes are popping up this year and this is my senior year. I'm sticking to the group though.

"Thank you, ma'am. It's only been a couple of weeks since I've been at Atlas, but it feels like ages," Russell exclaimed, relieved that the general and Jack were gone. "My only regret is that I didn't make a better impression. I wonder if my plan was just too vague or ill-informed. Ugh, I'm not a long-term strategist."

His teachings from Atlas discouraged rough housing and joking in times of terror, but Russell knew that if he wasn't anything but content, he could very well level the mainland. It didn't help that he still wasn't sure where Mauve stood on him. So in hoping to get at least a smile out of her, Russell remembers his father and replies, "My dad always said I was smart, but only on pure instinct. Not foresight. He said I should never have a 5 year plan, instead stick to a 5 second plan.." Not one to bring up his father, Russell caught himself a little bit, but the joke was funny to him in a self-aware sense.
