The Vale Region / Tag Team Brawl [Closed]
« on: January 16, 2017, 04:21:40 PM »
As one might imagine, setting up a 10 cubic meter box in the middle of Vale's largest park was quite the difficult task. There were permits to sort out, shipments and personnel to organise, and all of that was before Beacon's Headmaster was contacted about having some of his students poached one evening for a bit of relaxed action. And Gavin Cavanagh loved every second of it.

Now stood atop a podium held above the "battle box", as he'd dubbed it, this feeling of affection was starting to fade, just a bit. Talking to large crowds always made him feel awkward, and with the box surrounded on all sides by bleachers full of Vale residents out for a good time, hoping to get a glimpse of their future heroes, it was time to begin this little party. Here's hoping he wouldn't sound like a giant idiot.

"Greetings, ladies and gentlemen, Faunus and Humans, to tonight's entertainment. I'm sure you're just as excited as I am to see how the great Huntsmen and Huntresses in training shall perform! But first, a word from our sponsor......" Gavin kept up a monologue for a minute, boasting about the product on display.

"Now, for our teams. Standing to my front, weighing in at a combined three hundred and eighteen pounds, I present, Solar Rasie and Janna Tarmac!!"

"To my right, with a total height of eleven point three feet, I give you, Carnation Prescott and Oni Shoji!!"

"On my left, their combined age of thirty nine making me feel old at fifty, I'm proud to present, Sandy Smoke and Acero Walker!!"

"Finally, stood behind me, with features that I couldn't come up with a way to combine, it is my great honour to give you your final team here tonight, Kerri Palidus and Blair Valka!!"

"Let's start this shall we? You all know the rules. On three!"

"Two"

"One"

"BEGIN!"

Spoiler: ShowHide
Okay, combat rules: They're the same as the Vytal Tournament. No autohits, aura % for damage, grabs and throws must have opponents consent, two day wait before autohits. Any problems, I'll operate as ref. You all start in the box. Good luck, have fun, and make it awesome yeah? Great.

Plot Zone / Tag Team Brawl [7/8]
« on: January 04, 2017, 10:54:05 AM »
An Atlesian company that designs and manufactures security technologies wants to test out their latest design for armoured walls, and wants to drum up some publicity at the same time. As a way to kill both birds with one stone, they've put in a request to the combat academies for eight students of any year and ability to engage in a four way tag team brawl.

Taking place inside a 10 meter cubed box with the walls and ceiling made of a transparent version of the armoured walls, the four tag teams are to battle it out until only one team is left standing.

The Rules?
1)No holds barred combat. This is a combat test after all.
2)If either member of a team is eliminated, that team is out. This is to ensure co-operation and make things a bit more fun.

The Prize?
The winning team get a free pass for a buffet at a restaurant of their choice in Vale and a cash prize reward of three hundred lien each.

1.Kerri Palidus
2.Sandy Smoke
3.Oni Shoji
4.Solar Rasie
5.Blair Valka
6.Janna Tarmac

8.Acero Walker

The teams will be chosen at random using a random number generator. There's a two day waiting time for posts, any longer than than without myself being informed will result in an autohit.

Approved Characters / Caoimhe Murtagh

CHARACTER

Name:
Caoimhe Murtagh

Age:
18, Born 19 Hitahita, 62AC

Species and Gender:
Female Human

Symbol:
Two crossed sniper rounds

Occupation:
First Year Beacon Student

Appearance:
Caoimhe is 6'1 and is quite lanky, weighing in at 165 lbs. She's a ginger, and her hair falls around her head and down to her shoulders, making it look like it's been framed by fire. She has sharp, piercing light blue eyes and a tan complexion, with a birthmark on her right cheek. Caoimhe's voice is quite soft when she's not in combat, when it's very sharp and authoritative, or bitchy some might say.  Her normal outfit consists of a hooded black leather jacket with matching black jeans and boots, with a bright pink sleeved crop top that shows off her naval. When the weathers cold, she switches her crop top for a white button up and pink sweater and on bright days, she wears a pair of rimless sunglasses.

History:
Caoimhe was born and raised in a small village on the western edge of the continent of Sanus. The village was your usual affair, small and very close, with a close community. To keep the village safe from Grimm, a huntress, as well as a few members of the Atlas military had moved or retired there, as well as the people who went into the local woodland to hunt for food. Caoimhe's father, Anton, was one of those hunters. For the first few years of her life, Caoimhe's life was a routine of waking up, helping her mother Caitriona with the housework, playing with the other kids and waiting for her father to come home fro his hunts. Simple and happy.

However, that was to change, as, when Caoimhe was eleven, her mother caught ill, and despite the best efforts of the local physician, she passed away. After this, Caoimhe's father became a lot colder and less loving. He started to take Caoimhe on his hunts, paranoid that he'd lose her the way he lost her mother. He taught her how to shoot, and stalk prey, and lay traps, and everything else a person needed to catch dinner. Eventually, by the age of fourteen, Caoimhe's skill with a rifle was equal to anyone else's in the village. When her father realised this, he went to the huntress in the village, and begged her to take Caoimhe on as an apprentice, offering the best of his kills as payment. She accepted, and decided to give Caoimhe a real weapon: the rifle of one of her previous teammates, who'd passed away and had her down as his next of kin. The huntress taught Caoimhe how to take the rifle apart and rebuild it until she could do it blind, and, when she was satisfied, set her a challenge. If she could hit her with a single shot, she would mentor Caoimhe and make her into a huntress in training.

Caoimhe though, had no intention of becoming a huntress, preferring to stay in the village and mind her father, who was still grieving for his wife. However, by sheer accident, in an attempt to whiff the challenge, Caoimhe's bullet ricocheted off of a boulder and clipped the huntress' ankle mid dodge. And so Caoimhe got her new, unwanted mentor. The years continued to pass, with Caoimhe's new routine being hunting for food, hunting for Grimm with her mentor, and keeping her family home in order while her father went out on increasingly longer hunting trips.

When the huntress decided Caoimhe was ready to go to an Academy, she went to her father, and told him in no uncertain terms that if Caoimhe didn't leave the village and make use of her skills, she'd kick his ass. And he agreed with her, both for her reasons, and the fact that, even after all that time, seeing Caoimhe reminded him of his late wife, and he found it painful. So they banded together, convinced Caoimhe to go to Beacon, and practically pushed her onto the airship. Caoimhe managed to pass the entrance exam, though she did almost shoot one of the overseers when she used her semblance for the first time and didn't expect her to not move.

Personality:
Caoimhe is sweet and flirty, and has been described as very airheaded, liking to ask hypothetical questions or point out things that she notices. She has a flowery speech pattern, using a lot of metaphors and rhyme to enhance herself and make things sound better. She's confident and tries to maintain her appearance of a carefree flirt at all times, disliking the feeling of being stressed, scared or just annoyed. She's usually willing to help and take care of people too, though her methods lean more towards distracting them then actually trying to sort out their problems. Caoimhe maintains this playfulness and flirty attitude in combat, continuing to spout out her normal babble and cheery nonsense.

Caoimhe still grieves for her mother, and is sad whenever she is mentioned. Likewise, she feels only pity for her father, and the grief that caused him to help send her to Beacon.

Aura and Semblance:
Caoimhe's aura is salmon in color.

Caoimhe's semblance is the ability to make intangible objects with her aura. This objects can be highly detailed and elaborate, or simplistic, such as flowers, leaves and butterflies. Caoimhe's semblance has no real combat use.

Combat Behavior:
Caoimhe's a sniper, plain and simple. She likes to take things slow, set up a plan, and go through it without deviation. She's ruthless and methodical in the field, always going for the quickest, most efficient way of ending a fight. Her gun, Regret, has the stopping power to engage highly armoured targets, but is slow and cumbersome, making it difficult to wield at close range. Caoimhe also lacks skill in hand to hand co-ordination, and would easily be considered clumsy and awkward in any movement that wasn't shooting. Her hand to hand combat skills are pretty abysmal, and she attempts to hide during a fight, and avoid close quarters combat altogether.

Weapon

Name:
Magnanimous Regret

Primary Form:
A bolt action anti-material rifle, chambered for five armor piercing .50 calibre rounds at a time. Regret comes with an adjustable bipod and an adjustable scope. It is designed to allow Caoimhe to go toe to toe with larger Grimm such as Deathstalkers and King Taijitu, which most lower calibre weapons would have difficulties damaging, as well as generally ruining people's days. Regret is painted matte black.

History:
The weapon of a former hunstman that Caoimhe received from the retired huntress in her village. Apart from painting it matte black, Caoimhe has made no changes to it.

She's usually willing to help and take care of people too, though her methods lean more towards distracting them then actually trying to sort out their problems.

In a fight, however, this all changes. Caoimhe becomes cold and methodical, abandoning her flowery speech for blunt honesty and efficiency. She doesn't waste anything, movement or words. Caoimhe also develops quite the foul mouth in a fight, letting all the stress of her day to day life out through her words. That being said, she's still a flirt though.

Caoimhe still grieves for her mother, and is sad whenever she is mentioned. Likewise, she feels only pity for her father, and the grief that caused him to help send her to Beacon.

Aura and Semblance:
Caoimhe's aura is salmon in color.

Caoimhe's semblance is the ability to slow time. She creates two distinct fields of energy, one for herself, and the second for everything else. Effectively, she slows both herself (and everything on her person at the time)and the rest of the world at different rates. For example, she may slow herself down to 95% of her normal speed, while slowing the world to 90%. Caoimhe must do this at a set ratio when she activates her semblance, for example, every 1% reduction of her speed is 2% on everything else. However, she sheer mental strain means that Caoimhe cannot maintain the dilation for very long, at most 3 seconds for her, and it gives her a serious migraine doing so. For everyone else, it appears that Caoimhe moves faster instead of them moving slower, due to how they perceive the change in time.

Combat Behavior:
Caoimhe's a sniper, plain and simple. She likes to take things slow, set up a plan, and go through it without deviation. Approved Characters / Viridian Brandt
« on: September 11, 2016, 11:12:55 AM »
CHARACTER

Name:
Viridian Brandt

Age:
17, Born Amare 1, 62AC

Species and Gender:
Human Male

Symbol:
A horizontal katana pointed left, coated in viridian flames.

Occupation:
First Year Beacon Student
Ex Dueling Champion

Appearance:
Height: 5'10
Weight: 170lbs
Viridian has dark blue eyes and shaggy black hair that falls over his eyes. He has a pale complexion, and several small scars on his arms from his training. His face is angular and thin, and his nose is bent slightly out of shape. Viridian's body is the perfect example of his training, being lean and muscular, showing a preference for speed and mobility over brute force. His regular and combat outfit is the same. He wears a simple black shirt and dress pants, with dark boots. Over this, Viridian wears a dark blue 3/4 length overcoat that he wears open. Viridian also needs to wear glasses. Viridian hasn't bothered to make any alterations to his uniform.

History:
Viridian was born to a champion duellist for a mother and a huntsman for a father in Vale. From an early age, Viridian was trained to fight. His mother, Amethyst, taught him the art of iaijutsu from the moment he could hold a sword, at about the age of 5, and instilled in him a sense of ruthlessness, in keeping with her belief that enemies should be ruined, not beaten. Viridian's father, Caspian, on the other hand, taught him kenjutsu and Muay Thai, as well as strategic thinking and the art of planning.

Viridian's childhood consisted of an untold number of swordfighting competitions. It was at these events that he met his best friend, Vienna Solace. She was the only duellist that could compete with Viridian, and as such they struck up an instant friendship, which progressed to such a level that the two were expected to get married. Viridian in fact has been in love with her for years, and does plan to propose at the best opportunity. However, at their final competition at the age of 16, before they both agreed to spend a year out of the competition scene and focus solely on their studies at Signal where they were both training to become Huntsmen, disaster struck. A new competitor, Mikhail Marigold, cheated in a match against Vienna, using a blade hidden in the hilt of his sword to stab her, leaving her crippled, unable to use her left arm due to damage to the muscles. In a fit of rage, Viridian attacked Mikhail, and nearly killed him, but was stopped by his mother. He was banned from competitions, with the sentencing being reduced as a result of the circumstances, specifically who was injured, as well as the sway his mother held on the committee. It was at this point that Viridian's father awoke Vienna's aura, as she didn't have a huntsman or huntress to do it for her, and his family presumed that it already was, to protect her from further pain and injury, though the damage to Vienna's arm was too far gone for her aura to heal it without needing the injury to be inflicted again, like a bone being broken and reset after healing wrong.

This event instilled in Viridian his near apathy for anything other than fighting and his friends. Vienna was lost at the thought of never being able to duel again, and the realisation that he couldn't give his best friend the one thing she desired made Viridian question life, and what it's purpose was. He still remains in contact with Vienna, and plans to propose to her upon completing his time at Beacon, and use his salary as a huntsman to find a way to restore the use of her arm, hoping that science will progress far enough that she won't have to resort to a prosthetic in order to duel again.

Personality:
Viridian was trained by his parents to be the best duellist he could be. This has affected his personality, as he is so used to being alone and training that he is a quiet, awkward, reserved man. He has been described by his teachers at Signal as an individual so focused on his training that he appears to be bored with everything else. If it does not interest him, Viridian will not put much effort in, and often has to be ordered to work by an authority figure or someone he respects. At first glance, he appears to be almost asleep. However, despite his disinterest in standard education, Viridian is rather smart, specialising in deduction and analytic thinking, though his apathy means he tends to not bother using his intelligence. Viridian believes that there are no heroes in life, and that surviving is based on your own power. But, should someone earn Viridian's respect, he will go out of his way for them, and take them into account in all his decisions.

However, during a fight, Viridian's personality takes a 180. He becomes energetic, vibrant, and has ever been described as crazed. He shows an extreme level of bloodthirstiness and self destructiveness, fighting without hesitation and begging his opponents to attack with their full strength, just to feel the thrill of the moment. However, he still displays his carefree attitude at times, usually against weaker opponents, such as texting a friends with his spare hand, or some other act of disinterest.

Viridian also loses his apathy while in the presence of those he loves, and is instead a more open and kind individual. While presently, this only includes his parents and Vienna, he knows that his time at Beacon means joining a team, and that they will likely join this list.

Aura and Semblance:
Viridian's aura is, surprisingly, Viridian , and rises around him like a mist.

Viridian's semblance is called Flow, and it allows him to imbue an object, usually his sword, with his aura. This enhances it's traits considerably, making it sharper, tougher, and provides an increased resistance to aura based abilities. Viridian can also channel his aura through the blade and release it as a ranged attack with a distance of 20 meters, usually in the form of a slash. The initial use costs 15% of Viridian's aura to fully imbue the blade, and costs him an additional 10% every 1:30 minutes. The ranged slashes cost 5% of the imbued aura, so he has 3 uses of it. Viridian can deactivate his aura at any time, though it will cost another 15% of his aura to reactivate it. Viridian must also be touching the object to activate his semblance, though the effect will persist for 10 seconds should he let go of it for any reason, such as being disarmed or throwing it.

While Viridian tends to use his semblance solely in conjunction with Pleiades, he can use it with other weapons, which tend to have differing effects. Blunt weapons won't become sharp, but will have their durability and density increased, allowing for more damage to be dealt. This density increase would be like the difference between a wooden and metal bat, so to speak. Flow cannot be used with a ranged weapon.

Combat Behavior:
Viridian is a swordsman by nature. Quick and ruthless, he was trained by his mother, a champion swordfighter, and his father, a huntsman, to be the deadliest fighter possible. Viridian's sword style is a combination of iaijutsu and kenjutsu, as well as their competitive forms, iaido and kendo. He uses feints and his scabbard to draw open an opponents guard, before slipping his blade through their bodies. He also knows Muay Thai, and tends to combine elbows, knees and kicks into his movements, to catch his opponent of guard, not that he'd ever use this in an official duelling competition. He prefers speed over strength, and evades, parries and deflects over straight up blocking, as his style requires speed over power. However, Viridian has several weaknesses that offset his strengths. Without his semblance, he has no ranged options, being a strictly close range combatant. He also is very reliant on his sword, and tends to lose more often if he gets disarmed. Viridian has also spent his entire life training alone, and has little in the way of teamwork skills in combat. Viridian also suffers disadvantages when engaging against groups. While he specialises in one v one engagement, he can fight two v one with limited drawbacks due to his speed and skill, but more than that will result in him being overwhelmed.

WEAPON

Name:
Pleiades

Primary Form:
A katana with a gold guard and viridian hilt, which has been modified to be long enough to wield one or two handed. The blade is 25 inches long and made of steel

History:
A gift from Vienna upon his acceptance to Beacon. Pleiades represents the strength of their friendship, and is a symbol of her willingness to stand with Viridian, and that together, they can defeat anything. Both of their personalities are represented in the design, with Viridian being the simple blade, devoid of ornamentation, while Vienna is the flashier, more appealing guard. It also is a symbol of their preferred combat style, putting their faith in their skills and training over advanced technology and dust.

CHARACTER

Name:
Nox Aeterna
The Reaper

Age:
26, Saaral 13, 54 AC

Species and Gender:
Male Human

Symbol:
None.

Occupation:
Assassin
Hitman
Mercenary
All-Round Sociopath

Appearance:
Nox stands at 6'3 and weighs 195lbs. Nox's entire body is covered in scars and burns from his torture, with the unscarred areas being a ghostly pale. In fact, if you saw Nox, you'd think he was some sort of evil spirit, with his dark clothes, pale, scarred flesh and greasy grey hair. Nox speaks with a rasp as a result of his torture.

However, you won't see Nox's body, as he covers it up entirely. He wears combat boots, jeans and a shirt, all in black, under a black cloak. His cloak is torn and frayed at the bottom, and contains sleeves for his arms and a hood to hide behind. Nox also has black gloves. To compliment his Reaper motif, Nox has several white skull masks, similar to Death's from Darksiders, all with different expressions on them, some blank, some angry, some sad, whatever he's feeling at the time.

History:
Nox was once your average huntsman. He was born in Vale, went to Signal and Beacon, joined a team and graduated. This lead his team to take one last mission together, before they went their separate ways for a while. They decided to take down a crime ring in Mistral. This was supposed to be easy, but the information given was faulty, and the team attacked the criminal's compound, only to find that there were more guards, that were better armed and trained, with a rogue huntress on site as the group's top enforcer. Nox's teammates died, and Nox himself was captured in order to learn what information was out there about there operations. This consisted of extreme torture, which only got worse when he gave up the information, because the torturers were cruel, and enjoyed his suffering.

Eventually, a huntress who'd been following the crime ring, decided that she hadn't heard anything about the team in a while. She picked up the trail, and tracked down Nox. She rescued him, and brought him to a Haven Academy, as she felt it would be safer in case of psychological damage. She was worried that Nox may become violent, and felt that it would be safer to have trained hunters on hand to subdue him should her fear be accurate.

Nox's mind was shattered by the loss of his friends, and by the torture. He felt that it was his purpose to bring the same kind of suffering down on those who made him suffer. This eventually developed into a belief he was a Reaper, destined to kill. He escaped from Haven when he healed, and hid in the swamps of Mistral. He spent a year in a hut, training his body further, and creating Thanatos and Tartarus to be his tools of death. Now, five years later, he's become one of Remnant's most feared assassin's, by citizen's, criminals and hunters alike. He developed a habit of leaving a skull mask at the scene of the crime, to show that the Reaper had struck. Now, he takes whichever contracts he feels are worthy of his attention. You don't contact him, he contacts you.

Personality:
Nox is quite the troubled individual. Before he became the Reaper, he was a bit of a jokester, always laughing, smiling, never down. Now, he's cruel, cold and hard. Nothing about his current personality would indicate his past identity. The Reaper is a consummate professional, no jokes or mistakes, you want a problem solved, he'll solve it with extreme prejudice, and probably stop anyone from having a problem with you after.

Nox's torture has made him a sociopath with only one line that he will never cross: No children will die by his hand. This limit is his way of respecting his old team. However, this courtesy isn't extended to students of combat academies, as he feels they're ready for the real world. Nox is brutal, cruel and destructive, he uses the harshest of means to end his enemies. No mercy, no retreat, if you're in his sights, either you die, or he does, and he doesn't plan to die.

Nox has retained a mild sense of humour, though it is dark. This is best displayed in his most famous kill, where he disguised himself as a skeleton mariachi player to eliminate a minor drug lord during a festival in Vacuo. He kept Phobos disguised in his guitar, which he broke over the drug lord's head, and then shot the entire party, before disappearing, giggling all the while. Yeah, he's gone off the deep end alright.

Aura and Semblance:
Nox's aura is dull grey

Nox's semblance is called Night's Embrace and it allows him to meld his body with the shadows to be practically undetectable. However, Nox must be standing in complete shadows and he cannot move while hidden. People with semblances that enhance their sight will be able to see a human shaped shadow on the wall, and those with other sense may detect his breathing or scent.  Night's Embrace drains Nox's aura at a rate of 5% per minute.

Combat Behavior:
Brutality. That's the name of Nox's game, and his fighting style emphasises this. Nox has made himself strong enough to break the bones of people without aura protection with ease, and it's his preferred method of subduing opponents. With the martial arts of Muay Thai, Krav Maga and kickboxing under his belt, Nox is more than willing to try to beat the everloving shit outta anyone who gets too close. He combines these with the use of Phobos and Deimos, creating a short range maelstrom of pain. For those who prove themselves capable of withstanding this, or those Nox takes a liking to, Thanatos and Tartarus come out, and he reveals his true skills, becoming a true Reaper, using a fighting style that constantly switches between all his weapons and his fists, for maximum punishment Nox also has impressive stealth skills, with his semblance and natural silence. However, Nox has no long range capabilities, and cannot deal with snipers easily. Nox's brutal style also leaves him open to attacks while he focuses on delivering the pain to an opponent.

WEAPON

Name:
Phobos and Deimos (Fear and Terror)

Primary Form:
A pair of shortened handheld 12 gauge shotguns. Each gun contains a magazine that contains four shells, with a further 8 magazines in reserve, giving Nox a 40 shell arsenal. Phobos and Deimos are painted matte black and have tallies carved into the handle, marking the number of people slain by each gun.

History:
Originally Nox's weapons from when he was a huntsman, Nox had them painted black after his decision to become a killer, as blue guns aren't exactly the most nerve racking thing in the universe. It also helps distinguish his new life from his past.

Name:
Thanatos and Tartarus

Primary Form:
A pair of sickles, the handles and blades are jet black, with a ring of white at the base of the handle. The blades are crescent shaped.

Dust Functions:
Thanatos and Tartarus each contain a differing dust type, Thanatos containing electric and Tartarus fire.

History:
After his breakdown and transformation into the Reaper, Nox decided that he needed a close quarters weapon. Spending a year designing, creating and training with them, he used Thanatos and Tartarus on his first assassination, and left quite the mess. 4 years on, he has mastered the use of Thanatos and Tartarus

Approved Characters / Fiona Roseheart

CHARACTER

Name:
Fiona Roseheart

Age:
17, Born Klever 11, 63 AC

Species and Gender:
Human Female

Symbol:
A rainbow coloured shooting star

Occupation:
First Year Beacon Student

Appearance:
Fiona is 5'4 and weighs 145lbs. Fiona has soft golden eyes, pale, doll like skin and vibrant rainbow hair. Fiona's hair is pulled back into a ponytail that falls to her shoulder blades. She constantly has make up on, with her preferred style including purple lips, and darkened eyes. Fiona has a pair of tattoos, one on either arm, that are long vines, that have different flowers coming out of the ends, all the way down her arms, giving a rainbow effect.

Fiona's typical outfit consists of a golden sleeveless tunic, to show off her tattoos, a pair of black skinny jeans, that are suitably tattered for that punk look, her boots, a pair of rainbow headphones attached to a music player on her belt, a set of black fingerless gloves and a pair of sunglasses, to protect herself from her semblance.

Fiona keeps her uniform the same, but brings her gloves, shades and headphones with her.

History:
Fiona Roseheart was raised by her sister, Ciara, after their parents died, their father in a vehicle accident and their mother in labour with their sister, Sarah. The only other relative that was alive was their uncle, an Atlesian specialist who was in no position to mind children, and Ciara was stuck with the responsibility of taking care of a new born. This uncle however did provide on the monetary front, and the Roseheart's never had to go hungry.  Fiona ended up spending a lot of time out of the house with her friends to ease the pressure. These friends introduced Fiona to the joy of skating. Skating gave Fiona a way to let out the stress that was in her life. Fiona soon turned into a speed addicted adrenaline junkie. But let's save that for the personality section.

Fiona's best friend's sister was a huntress. It was from her that Fiona got the idea to become a huntress herself. She begged her to teach her and her friend how to fight and protect themselves, and, after three months of nonstop asking, got her way. The two soon realised a few things, Fiona loved fighting almost as much as she loved skating, her friend hated fighting, and that Fiona had a crush on her best friend's sister.

This crush didn't lead anywhere, but it helped shape Fiona into the girl she is today. Upon reaching the right age, she begged her uncle to provide the funding to go to Signal and Beacon afterwards, and was allowed, under the condition that she pay him back when she was a huntress herself. Fiona's years at Signal helped shape her further. It was here that she designed and created the Solar Skates. She also learned that she was the worst shot ever, with one practice shot going so far off target that it in fact hit another one, directly behind her. So yeah, no guns in the skates. But she graduated Signal with a solid enough mark, and received the offer to go to Beacon Academy for Huntsmen and Badasses (Totally not a Harry Potter joke) and is over the moon at the prospect.

Personality:
Fiona Roseheart is the biggest adrenaline junkie this side of anywhere. She loves the thrill that skating, or fighting, or training, or anything that requires speed and danger, provides. She loves the action and intensity that being a huntress will bring, and that's her primary motivation for becoming one, to find the ultimate thrill. However, underneath this cool exterior, Fiona wants to find a way to provide for her sisters, and give them a chance to fulfil their dreams, using the money that she provides.

Fiona describes herself as the coolest, punkiest lesbian Vale has to offer. She loves her skating, her music and her girls. And hitting things. She's rash, persistent and potentially annoying with her loud, tomboyish demeanour, but she has a heart of gold, and loves those close to her with everything she has. If you hurt her family, she'll tear your heart out, and skate all over it.

On the subject of her tomboy punkiness, Fiona loves things most girls don't, fighting, getting dirty, video games, action movies, etc. She's happy to hang out with the guys, though she does have a girly side. She loves make up and her hair, and wants a girl to hang out with, like she did with her sisters.

Aura and Semblance:
Fiona's aura is gold in color

Fiona's semblance is called Rainbow. Fiona focuses her aura into her mouth, and breathes out particles of a glitter like substance. This substance comes in many different colours, and reflects light to a great degree, which blinds people with a technicolour bombardment of light. Rainbow uses up 5% of Fiona's aura, and lasts for 5 seconds before dissipating. Rainbow cannot be used for a further 2 minutes after this.

Combat Behavior:
Fiona is a speed fighter, preferring to keep mobile with her skates, and strike from any angle she can. Fiona is pure close quarters, but this has led her to be a fairly good martial artist, with a pure striking style, emphasizing her love for speed and moving. The bladed dust form on the Solar Skates give her a rather effective method of fighting Grimm, using them to slice the beasts with her kicks. Against humanoid opponents, Fiona switches between bladed attacks and regular kicks. Her lack of long range weaponry leave her at a disadvantage against opponents with them, and her fighting style is very singular, leaving Fiona at a disadvantage against numerous opponents. Fiona also lacks heavy weapons to punch through solid defences.

WEAPON

Name:
Solar Skates

Primary Form:
A pair of black mechanical boots. This is the Solar Skates casual form, operating as Fiona's average footwear.

Secondary Form:
Upon activation, the boots become a pair of dust powered energy skates. The dust is released in a controlled blade underneath the soles of Fiona's feet, operating as a pair of roller blades. The boots also extend up to support Fiona's ankles.

Dust Functions:
The dust has three basic forms, depending on the setting that Fiona has in use. It's usual form is the basic skate form, allowing Fiona to slide along surfaces like a pair of roller-skates. Or ice skates, actually. The second form effectively turns them into ice skates, creating a bladed edge that Fiona used to slash through objects and enemies. The final form thickens the dust, to dig into surfaces and slow Fiona down to a halt.

History:
The Solar Skates are Fiona's pride and joy. Developed during her time at Signal as a way for her to combine her passion for skating as well as her training as a huntress. She values the skates more than anything else in the world.

Approved Characters / Finn Gawain
« on: September 11, 2016, 10:24:42 AM »
CHARACTER

Name:
Finn Gawain

Nickname:
Beacon's Boomtastic Badass

Age:
17, Born Machlud 11

Species and Gender:
Male Numbat Faunas

Symbol:
A grenade in front of an explosion.

Occupation:
First Year Beacon Student

Appearance:
Finn stands at 5'9 and weighs 190lbs. He has black hair styled into a short faux hawk, with the front spiked forwards haphazardly and is longer then the rest of it. The sides of it, in front of his ears, has grey running through it. Finn's eyes are bright green and his face has several small scars from minor incidents with his experiments, with one cutting diagonally across the outer edge of his left eyebrow, another on his right jaw and the last cutting vertically down the left of his mouth. Finn has a black tail with light grey rings. When out of combat, Finn prefers to wear a neon green t-shirt with a dark grey button up left open over it, dark jeans and boots.

When in combat, Finn wears a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms underneath his own customised suit of body armour, consisting of grey padding on his arms, legs and torso, all designed to resist explosive weaponry. The armour is tinged with neon green that runs along the back of the forearm and the outer things, as well as rings mid calf. The armour has Finn's symbol on it's chest, though it's mostly hidden by the bandolier that he wears to carry grenades and his belt too contains grenades. Likewise, Finn wears a large knapsack that contains the majority of his armaments.

History:
Finn Gawain was born in Mistral. His father was an contracted weapon designer for the Atlas Military, and spent most of his days in his lab working. Finn never knew his mother, as she was a huntress and a one night stand for his father and she merely dropped him at his father's door when he was a few months old. However, Finn has never been upset by this, as he grew up with a doting father who made sure to keep Finn happy and smiling. When he wasn't at school or playing games with the kids in his neighbourhood, Finn was helping his father in the lab however he could.

It was here that Finn developed his love for explosives. He'd wait impatiently after school for his father to pick him up and take him to the labs where he could watch the workers test out their creations, and he soon became an assistant to everyone, learning from them. He soon became a prodigy in the art of bomb making, and developed a desire to test out his favourite toys in a less controlled manner. After a few incidents where he wandered off into the surrounding areas near the lab to practice, including the destruction of private property, public roads, some stray Grimm (no one was all that upset by that one) and the forced amputation of the leg of a goat, Finn's father decided to ship Finn off somewhere he could use his bombs in relative safety (for others anyway): Signal Academy.

Finn's time at Signal was fairly extraordinary, especially after the teachers banned him from using his grenade launcher except in prepared sparring scenarios. He made friends, passed classes with an acceptable grade in all but defensive strategy, which he excelled at, (coating the entire area with mines and traps is a legitimate strategy, he'll have you know), and, despite being a Faunas, never got bullied. Well, people tried, but they were soon convinced that Finn was insane, as he brushed everything off and kept up a cheery attitude no matter what they tried, and Finn soon applied to Beacon, where he was accepted. The start of a new adventure, and one that will be easy to track thanks to the craters Finn leaves.

Personality:
Finn has been described by people as eccentric, ridiculously optimistic, bomb happy and down right crazy. He describes those people as boring, dull and unable to see his vision. Though they are correct, Finn does have all of those traits. He's always in a good mood, always smiling and laughing, to such a degree that there was a saying in his school that Finn Gawain has never had a bad day, and would keep laughing and smiling as the world ended. Finn is the eternal nice guy, and will be friendly with anyone, no matter what, and treats everyone with respect. If in the presence of bullies, he tries to make them nicer through exposure to himself, and show them that being nice is great. The only thing that Finn takes even the slightest bit of offence at is having his Faunas heritage mistaken for something like a squirrel, and even then, he remains polite. The eccentric description is also apt, as Finn is very air headed and has been known to talk to himself as he works on his bombs. Or while using them. He loves his explosives, and spends a lot of his time trying to create new and exciting ways to blow things up. As you may guess, he's a big fan of fireworks.

Aura and Semblance:
Finn's aura is a lime green.

Finn's semblance is called Blast Shield and allows him to create a barrier that protects him from explosions, waves of power or objects with a larger surface area, like hammers or mauls. Blast Shield only drains energy when in active use and the drain depends on the power of the blocked attack. However, Blast Shield is ineffective against smaller weapons, such as blades or bullets.

Combat Behavior:
Finn's based his combat style on one thing: ranged bombardment. His use of explosives have made him a very useful ranged fighter, who specializes in engaging large groups of enemy combatants, and his use of dust grenades gives him a wide variety of strategic options. Finn doesn't have the physical capabilities or close quarters skill that a lot of people do, and as such has to outsmart any opponents which get to close using trickery and feints. Finn uses his handgun for situations where explosives are too dangerous for him and his team, and has minor boxing skill, though it's only good enough to engage your average criminal grunt. And he still might lose.

WEAPON

Name:
Badda Boom

Primary Form:
Badda Boom is a pump action grenade launcher, equipped to hold four grenades at a time. Badda Boom is painted black with lime green highlights to it.

Secondary Form:
Badda Boom can be converted into a mortar by resting the stock into the ground and releasing the stands placed either side of the pump mechanism. This provides additional range for his grenades, but in turn, he loses accuracy and close range efficiency.

Dust Functions:
Finn's explosive types include:
Fire Bombs (Both incendiary and napalm)(5)
Shock Bombs (Designed to taze)(4)
Freeze Bombs(4)
Repulsion Bomb (Using gravity dust)(5)
Shrapnel Grenades (Using stone dust)(5)
Tripmines(2)
Flashbangs(4)
Smoke Bombs(2)
Breaching Charge(2)
Satchel Charge(3)

All bombs bar the tripmines, breaching charge and satchel charge can be used as hand grenades or with Badda Boom. While certain situations call for changes to what he brings, Finn typically brings the numbers listed above.

Name:
Badda Bing

Primary Form:
A low calibre handgun with a ten round magazine, used to provide Finn with a weapon when explosives are too much. He carries three spare magazines.

History:
Finn custom designed all of his weapons out of both boredom and a love for pyrotechnics, and they have become his most prized possessions.

Approved Characters / Mirabelle Loire
« on: September 11, 2016, 10:12:34 AM »
CHARACTER

Name:
Mirabelle Loire

Age:
18, Born Niege 29, 61AC

Species and Gender:
Female Rabbit Faunas.

Symbol:
A rose and a lily, wrapped around a stiletto, with the stem around the blade and the flowers perpendicular to the handle.

Occupation:
2nd Year Beacon Student

Appearance:
Mirabelle is a short girl, standing at just 5'2 and weighing 110 lbs. She has soft pink hair kept down to her shoulder blades with her white rabbits ears emerging from it. She has soft pink eyes, and wears purple lipstick. Mirabelle's body is very petite, with barely any curves on her at all. She has a tattoo of a rose vine along her left arm, from wrist to elbow.

Mirabelle's normal attire consists of a lavender, long sleeved t-shirt, a lilac skirt with pink leggings, and pink, knee high boots, lilac gloves and a lavender belt. When preparing to go into combat, she attaches straps along her outfit, basically anywhere that'd have enough room for a knife, arms, legs, torso and belt, and keeps her machete sheathed behind her left shoulder, for easy access. The blades fit like normal sheathes that anyone would use, and have an extra grip to keep them from falling out during movement.

Mirabelle doesn't change her school uniform in any way.

History:
Mirabelle Loire, twin to Elise Loire, daughters to florists in Vale. Upon the birth of the twins, the Loire's discovered that Elise was born blind. This affected the twin's relationship, as Mirabelle refused to leave her sister's side for anything. This resulted in Mirabelle spending little time outside of her family's shop, as Elise was unwilling to leave for fear of getting hurt. It's because of this the Mirabelle developed her love of flowers and reading. Mirabelle's childhood consisted of a lot of nights spent reading to her sister, and days helping in her parent's flower shop, when she wasn't at school of course.

Surprisingly, it was Elise who convinced Mirabelle to train to be a Huntress. She loved to listen to the fantasy stories that Mirabelle would read to her, and the thought of being related to a Huntress made her incredibly happy. Out of love for her sister, Mirabelle began to train to become a Huntress. Having already been taking gymnastics and dance classes, she began to devote more time to them, to give her the body she'd need to fight, and applying to join Signal when she came of age, designed Soleil Lilas during her time there.

At Signal, Mirabelle excelled at her studies. She is quite the intellectual, and discovered that she was also a capable strategist. Her martial training, though, wasn't quite as impressive. A skilled fighter, she just lacked the strength and endurance to become a star student. Instead, she took the time to train in stealth, figuring that it didn't matter how strong you are, if you get ambushed, it wouldn't matter. It was at this time she discovered her semblance. After Signal, she received an offer to go to Beacon Academy, and was forced into accepting by Elise, cause their was no way she wasn't going.

Personality:
Mirabelle is like the girl next door, soft, sweet and kind. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. Mirabelle is content to curl up and read a book, or tend to her flowers, of which she has many. Mirabelle is always quick to help someone who needs it, and is a major believer in hugs. Being a twin, she is used to rarely being without people to talk to, and is upset that her sister, Elise, couldn't come to Beacon with her. She misses her family terribly, and tries to keep in touch as much as possible. Mirabelle hates silence, and talks to herself to counter it, especially when she is tending to her flowers. Mirabelle also doesn't understand why people hate Faunus', and gets very upset when people insult her about her ears. Mirabelle is an intellectual, and is considered to be rather smart by her teachers. She loves to learn new things, and will bring a book everywhere with her, if possible. Her favourite genre of fiction is fantasy, as she would read books about Huntsmen, Heroes and Monsters to her sister, and loved how much enjoyment Elise got out of them. Mirabelle is quite shy however, and tends to find it hard to talk to new people, stuttering and blushing.

Aura and Semblance:
Mirabelle's aura is a soft lilac colour.

Her semblance allows her to create a thick fog, with her as the centre. This can be extended for a distance of 50 meters squared. This fog remains there for 3 minutes before becoming like regular fog, dissipating as it normally would depending on the environment. During these 3 minutes, the fog cannot be dissipated, as it is using the aura that created it to sustain itself. The fog prevents sight further away than 1 meter for those with normal, 20/20 vision. Those who have semblance enhanced vision will be able to see clearer, depending on their power, but no one can see thorough it perfectly. Every 10 square meters costs 5% of Mirabelle's aura. It takes 5 seconds for the fog to emerge from Mirabelle, and another 5 for every 10 square meters it has to cover. Mirabelle also has no control over the fog, and it stays at it's point of creation.

Combat Behavior:
Mirabelle's use of Soleil Lilas means that she trained her body to be fast, agile and flexible. She's done gymnastics since she was 4, thus her body can twist, leap, and contort out of danger. This is good, because Mirabelle doesn't have the strength to block and absorb hits. She prefers to dodge, and strike during the openings her opponent makes. Mirabelle has low stamina however, and can tire easily, especially if she uses complicated gymnastic moves. Mirabelle's fans add a unique element to her fighting style, as they switch up the angles that she can attack from. Mirabelle has also learned the fine art of stealth, as her semblance provides prime sneaking opportunities. Mirabelle has trained her sense to accommodate for the lack of vision in her fogs, and often considers her sight to be her weakest sense. Mirabelle also has little experience working with a team, thus she mightn't know how to work in conjunction with her partners, and may be a hindrance more than a help. Mirabelle's years with her blind sister have made her unconsciously help people, even at the cost of herself, and she can put herself into danger for people that need help. Mirabelle also knows a lot about herbal remedies and battlefield medicine, as she was raised in a florists, and learned a lot of botanical skills, knowing what plants can help, and what can poison.

WEAPON

Name:
Soleil Lilas (Lilac Sun)

Primary Form:
A pair of lilac daggers, 10 inches long. The blades are lilac and are double edges, and the handles have a purple and pink design.

Secondary Form:
By pushing a button in the hilt, the daggers spilt apart and flow around the handle to rest on either end, like a staff. Between the two blades is a curved fan, coloured lilac with her symbol placed on the fan in three places, equal distance from each other. The fan is made of a collapsible metal that is both light and tough, making it an effective weapon and the edges of the fan are razor sharp

History:
Mirabelle designed Soleil Lilas after Elise said that she thought fans as weapons would be really cool. Soleil Lilas was designed throughout Mirabelle's time at Signal, and was finally perfect before she came to Beacon.

Approved Characters / Arashi Kusanagi
« on: September 11, 2016, 03:12:01 AM »
CHARACTER

Name:
Arashi Kusanagi (Prefers Kusanagi)

Age:
17, Born Tulikuuma 13

Species and Gender:
Human Male

Symbol:
Pair of crossed black throwing knives in front of a flame, blades pointed down.

Occupation:
First Year Beacon Student
Part Time Bartender
A Fukugensa re ta Seinen Leader (Meaning The Youth Restored)

Appearance:
Height: 6'0
Weight: 179lbs
Kusanagi, despite being born and raised in Vacuo, is actually remarkably pale. Tall and thin, he has loose dirty blonde hair that falls around his eyebrows, and his soft orange eyes always have a glint to them, not that you'll ever notice with the sunglasses he wears consistently. His casual wear consists of a white dress shirt with a black jacket over it, jacket left open and shirt's top two buttons undone, with a dark jeans and black dress shoes to fit, as well as his customary sunglasses, of which he has a many and varied collection. Kusanagi also has a trio of tattoos, the first is his symbol on the back of his left hand, the second is his gangs symbol, a trio of birds flying through a sunset, on the back of his right hand, and the third are a pair of phoenix wings, with fire emerging from them, on his back, from his shoulder blades to his hips.

When in combat, Kusanagi makes slight alterations to his outfit, replacing his normal jacket with a tougher leather one and swapping his dress shoes with heavier combat boots.

As for his uniform, the only modification he makes is that he keeps his top buttons open on his shirt, and his tie is left undone.

History: Kusanagi has had an interesting life. Born in Vacuo's capital, Kusanagi was raised by his parents and uncle in an apartment above their bar, Oasis Spring. Kusanagi was taught many things in his childhood, ranging from more common skills such as piano, sewing and programming, to more unique skills, like mixing drinks, lockpicking and Krav Maga, with his parents, and uncle in particular, believing that Kusanagi should have every available tool at his disposal. With this, Kusanagi's first ten years went by without a hitch.

However, this changed a few days before his eleventh birthday. His parents were out buying him a cake, and they were robbed and killed by a mugger. This devastated Kusanagi, and he refused to leave his room for weeks. When the mugger was caught, however, it was revealed that he was merely trying to bring some food home for his starving children. This event, and the revelation of the mugger's motivation, caused Kusanagi to develop a burning passion to help the unfortunate youth of his home city, so that no child would suffer. His friends, Mikoto Yata, Izumo Hatake, Ayato Momoshiki, Seri Munakata and Hinata Totsuka, had been planning to start a gang, and Kusanagi managed to convince them to make the protection of youths their goal. Taking the name Fukugensa re ta Seinen, or The Youth Restored, the gang set up in the back room of Oasis Spring, with Kusanagi's uncle giving them free reign of the room. Ayato's brother, a trained Huntsman, awoke all of their auras, and in his spare time, trained them in combat and the usage of their auras. The gang elected Mikoto as their leader, with Kusanagi as his second.

From there, the gang spread out, taking in stray kids and looking after them, sometimes just during the day, and sometimes on a more permanent basis. The leaders made sure to carve out a safe territory around the Oasis Spring, with the other gangs respecting their dedication to their cause, or fearing their wrath. Now, with the other leaders, bar Izumo, planning to go to Shade Acadamy to become Hunters, Kusanagi has decided on a slightly different path, instead travelling to Beacon, in a desire to see the world. Despite his lack of formal training, he managed to pass the entrance exam, though his lack of training and experience gave him difficulties on the more strategic and theoretical combat parts of the written exam, that other students learn at combat school, as well as being a bit weak on the physical, though not overtly so. He plans on returning to his home though, as do all the leaders, and making sure that their people will continue to be safe.

Personality: Cool, calm and collected, Kusanagi is his gang's straight man. A firm believer in logic and reason, his understanding of life makes him a source of guidance to those in need, and has caused him to keep a level head in many a situation. There are few things Kusanagi loves, his gang and it's cause, his uncle and his bar, and his trademark lighter. Kusanagi is a loyal man, a devout believer in bonds, and, should you make a bond with him, he will defend you with his life. The only other thing Kusanagi believes in is that childhood is a time for joy, and he has dedicated his life to protecting children in need, with Fukugensa re ta Seinen standing at his side. Always quick to smirk and make a joke, many people who meet Kusanagi believe that he cannot take anything seriously, but this is merely a façade for the dedication and affection he has for his friends and family. The education that Kusanagi received has made him smarter than the average person his age, though he prefers language based studies, with mathematics being his weak spot in terms of basic education. The fact that he never attended a combat school means he doesn't have the same tactical training other students do, though he makes up for this with his quick thinking.

However, that isn't to say Kusanagi is always relaxed. Should you ignite his temper, usually by threating a child, he becomes like the storm he was named for, obliterating you and everything you happen to be near.

Also, should be noted Kusanagi has taken up the habit of smoking, though he only does it when he is alone, so as not to irritate anyone.

Aura and Semblance: Kusanagi's aura is a sunset orange that flows around him like a liquid.

Kusanagi's semblance is pyrokinesis, and is the basis of his fighting style. He is capable of manipulating any flame in a ten foot radius of himself, and can do many things with it, such as expand, shape or enhance the heat of the flame. Once he has control of the flame, however, he can exceed the ten foot radius. However, he cannot create fire, and as such, relies on his lighter to provide the much needed spark that burns his foes. Kusanagi can increase the temperature of the flames to a maximum of 550 degrees centigrade, though heating this drains him greatly. This doesn't apply to flames that start at a temperature higher than this. The flames operate like normal flames, though he can use his aura instead of oxygen should the situation arise, though this doubles the normal drain on his aura. This semblance drains Kusanagi's aura by 3% when he takes control, and then at a further 3% every 30 seconds. Modifying the flames in any way drains between 3-7% aura, depending on the modification, with temperature increasing drains by 6%. Kusanagi can hold the flames in place with his aura if they would normally by extinguished, but at a cost of 6% of his aura every 10 seconds. Can counter or be countered by water or ice related techniques, but this depends on the temperature of the flame and the type of attacks.

The typical shapes that Kusanagi uses include whips, small, condensed bolts, looser fireballs and waves, as well as more complicated shapes such as swords, shields and other, more artistic designs, though the amount of aura required to shape and solidify the fire, as well as the concentration required to maintain it, mean that Kusanagi is unlikely to use them in a fight, instead, he'll use them more for showing off to people. This is also why he received his throwing knives, to counter this issue.

Combat Behavior: Kusanagi has had several years of Krav Maga training, and is a competent street fighter. However, he prefers to be near the back of an engagement, his fire and knives making him more of a mid range combatant. Years of covering his gang members and friends in street brawls have taught him how to support and protect his allies in a fight, and he specialises in tag team engagements where he can let his fires blaze around his comrades and smite his enemies. He preferences the use of firebolts and fireballs, and tends to shape the flames into a whip emerging from Hikari, when pressed into a closer engagement. He also knows how to combine the use of his fire and his knives, combining their use, usually with the fire as a distraction to allow the knives to strike. However, Kusanagi finds close quarters combat to be troublesome, and he knows that his Krav Maga will only be able to protect him for so long, so he plans to learn another style, to cover this. He also finds one v one engagements to be awkward, though he isn't overly disadvantaged in these scenarios. And, if his fire is put out, it's almost guaranteed he will lose. His lack of formal training is both a hindrance and a help, as he doesn't have the focused skill set other combatants may have, though it also means his style isn't as easily read, as there is no training in them that the students from combat schools would be familiar with.

Primary Weapon

Name: Hikari (Light)

Primary Form: A crimson lighter with his symbol etched on either side, Hikari has a flick top to cover the release. Hikari also contains a specialised mechanism at the bottom, where dust can be added to increase the power of the flames.

Dust Functions: Either fire or wind dust can be added to Hikari. Fire dust causes the lighter to release all the remaining gas as a cataclysmic eruption of flames, while wind dust increases the kinetic force of the fire blasts, thus causing them to move faster and throw an opponent away if they connect. The use of dust reduces the amount of control Kusanagi has over the fire severely, with the fire dust being completely uncontrolled, and the wind being slightly alterable, usually by a few meters in a direction as it flies. The dust causes the symbol on Hikari to glow that particular colour, red if fire and green if wind.

Secondary Weapon

Name:Tanken (Daggers)

Primary Form: Simple set of throwing knives that Kusanagi keeps hidden on his body. Can be ignited with his fire for added damage. Has his gangs symbol engraved on each hilt.

History: Hikari was Kusanagi's Father's lighter, that Kusanagi modified in his spare time to become his primary weapon, in memorial of his parents. Kusanagi values Hikari dearly, and will never leave it more than a foot away from him. The Tanken, meanwhile, are a set of throwing knives his friends gave him for his fourteenth birthday, and each has their gangs symbol engraved on the hilt
