"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WELCOME TO THE SEMI-FINALS!!" The crowd errupted into applause as Vulco grinned in his booth. "THE VYTAL TOURNEY IS ALMOST OVER, BUT DON'T FRET, THIS IS WHERE THINGS GET REEEEAAAAL INTERESTING!" The crowd erupted into a ceremonious cheer, whoops and hollers came from all corners of Remnant as people tuned into the match from home. "YOU ALL KNOW HOW IT WORKS BY NOW, INTRODUCTION, SOMEWHAT OFFENSIVE QUIP, AND THEN ENVIRONMENTAL SPINNER, SO LET'S GET RIGHT INTO IT! IN THE SECOND ROUND, WE'VE GOT TWO MORE BEACON KIDS! IN THE FIRST CORNER, WE HAVE TENNE BYZANT, WHO ABSOLUTELY STOMPED THE LAST OPPONENT, AND IN THE OTHER CORNER, WE HAVE NATHAN EAU, CAN ANYTHING STOP THIS TRAIN OF A MAN!? NOW, ONTO THE ENVIRONMENTAL SPINNER!" The crowd cheered heartily.

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on River and Tundra.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE SPECIAL THING ABOUT THE SEMI FINALS IS WE GET TO INTRODUCE SOMETHING BRAND NEW TO THIS YEAR'S TOURNEY!"

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose one new floor. Nearly the entire field was covered with a thick snow. Snow banks were littered around the field and through the entire thing, a frozen river snaked back and forth. It seemed simple enough, a mostly empty field with snow and ice, if not for the wall of snow coming down on the field from seemingly nowhere. The snowfall cut visibility harshly and made the already chilly environment even colder.

"WELCOME TO SCENIC ATLAS, NOW WITH WEATHER SYSTEMS!"

Just then, the doors on each side of the arena opened and, from them, out strolled the combatants.


(A coin flip decided Nathan gets the first post. The arena size is that of the 1v1 arena in the show, but still features biomes, though scaled down. Good luck, contestants.)

Nathan came onto the field, wearing his coat with the hood off.

Lowered visibility, hmm? Well it wasn't too bad, at least. He could still see the other side of the playing field - barely.

Rapidly, he crouched and moved to the left, circling the snowy and chilly zone. He switched Ergia into rifle form, played as low as he could behind a snowbank and gingerly laid the barrel on the top. He wasn't very visible here and could still see the rest of the arena. Good.

Now, Tenne. A strong woman, likes to use chains, traps, Dust and generally ganging up on people with herself. There were a few ways to go about it. Focus on the real one and grind her Aura to dust, or take out the supports first. It was probably going to be hard to tell them apart, so he'd cross that bridge when he got there.

All in all, his best bets were at the number of two. He could shred her up from afar, where she had little options, or beat her at her own trap game.

Or maybe... yeah, that could work...

[The Fox Without]

Tenne sighed as she walked out onto the arena, looking disappointedly at the  arena. Snow again. She had just got feeling back into her legs from the last fight, her boots still slightly damp from the snow. She watched as a blurred out figure she could only assume was her opponent disappeared behind one of the many snow drifts littering the arena, the wind biting at her exposed skin before her aura came up, protecting her from the harsh weather. Seeing her opponent disappear made her release another sigh, apparently she'd found another opponent that was going to try and be 'tactical.' There wasn't really anywhere to stay out of sight in the barren arena, so didn't really seem to be any point trying to play switcheroo with them.

Making a decision, the color seemed to simply bleed out of Tenne in an instant, the now monochrome fuanus flanked by two identical clones as they made to run at the snow drift they'd last seen the blur disappear behind. Running with little tact or strategy, it wouldn't take them long to reach the other side of the arena, hopefully getting withing range of her opponent that her chains would somewhat be effective.

The Faunus seemed to grow pale - making it even harder to spot in this goddamn snowfall - and... split. Into three. And started running towards him.

Well, hot diggity.

Not wasting time, Nathan pulled the trigger, unleashing supersonic tungsten-based hell on the opponent(s). The only sound to be heard is the slight supersonic boom of every slug.

As soon as she'd get within range to use her things, he'd switch to another tactic. A far more defensive one.

(3% (or whatever it winds up as when adapted to Tenne's "above average" Aura) Aura damage per slug, 12 slugs/second, whatever accuracy you think is alright for the range. He keeps firing until the Tennes are almost in range to use their chains, or for a max of 25 seconds, or until they decide to drop out of sight. If they split, he focuses on the center one.)

[The Fox Without]

Tenne cursed as bullets began to pepper her, a few hitting her square in the chest before she brought up her gauntlets to deflect the incoming shots, a few more dinging off of them before C1 ran in front of her, blocking the remainder of the bullets with her own gauntlets, the group weaving so as to try and throw off his aim. Bearing down on their opponents as they finally made it to the snow bank, The clones once more went to either side of Tenne, a hiss sounding as each of them coated a chain in dust with a dull yellowish brown sheen, each of Tenne's own chains covered in a harsh red light as embers floated away from the chains, before each clone sent a chain out in a straight line on either side of the snowbank, a sharp cracking noise sounding as walls of earth rose on either side of the veiling bank, the edge of the arena (I'm assuming he was at the edge of the arena since it saide he only ever went left) blocking off any chance of retreat. She wasn't sure where exactly behind all that snow he was, but even through the snow she could smell a sharp ionized scent coming from it. Smirking she sent the hefty steel weights at the ends of her chains hurtling into the enclosed area, dust held within them being expended as they hit the ground, a large explosion of fire dust erupting within the corridor.

(9% damage from explosions each=18, one of them doubled if Nathan just has bad luck and they actually hit him dead on)

Right when the Faunus - or was it Fauni? He forgot sometimes - wait, no, this was a single person, it didn't matter - got close enough to start using her own weapons, Nathan stopped firing and started shifting Ergia into storage form, continuing to peek over the top of his snowbank in the meantime. Why? Because he knew what was coming. Open area, no cover to speak of... This was identical to the situation Izzy'd found himself in. He'd need an escape ticket.

As he clicked Ergia into its place on the harness, what he'd thought would happen happened. They split, obviously trying to box him in for maximum trapness.

The edge ones - which, if he kept track of them in the snowstorm correctly, were the clones, since protecting the middle one seemed to have been important - lashed out with brown-glowing chains on either side of him, sending rock & earth walls up along with even more snow. Nathan followed said snow, jumping with it and using Ergia's engine to propel himself into a ballistic trajectory right over the wall to his left, nearly scraping off the top as he did so. On the way down, he unhooked Ergia to have it in hand. He landed on the other side of the wall on his belly, the still-soft snow cushioning the impact. What was still in the air fell onto him, rendering him part of the landscape for now.

Two loud sounds emanated from the other side of the wall, muffled more by the rock formation than the floofy ice crystals.

He'd been right. This would be hard.

Catalina cheered silently. Not that he cared about what will the others think if he shouted loudly, but rather he just liked to be that way. After all, he recognized him as a good rival and a one sided friend.
