AMA Section / Whats your characters Halloween costume?
« on: October 31, 2017, 06:53:28 AM »
'Tis the season for costumes and candies, even confirmed for Remnant via rwby Chibi so figured we could have a simple silly thread.

What would your character dress up as? As we don't really have many examples of Remnant culture you can use anything from our world as well.

WiP Characters / Bastet Nin
« on: September 24, 2017, 05:40:59 PM »
CHARACTER

Name: Bastet Nin, usually Bas for short

Age: 17 (12th of Hitahita, 63 AC)

Species and Gender: Cat faunus, female

Symbol:

Occupation: Huntress in training, first year Haven

Appearance: Although she stands a bit shorter than the average guy at 5'7" Bastet still manages to be a commanding figure on the battlefield. Her form is certainly feminine yet all of her visible dark skin is clearly toned by significant muscle. She has sharp facial features and whilst her pupils are human their colour is of an intensely feline yellow. Her jet black hair is trimmed to a short bob cut with a pair of fuzzy cat ears crowning it.

Fashion in Vacuo tends to favour comfort and practicality over looks so her general attire used to be a simple black tank top with whatever jeans she could find that seemed the cleanest. However upon arriving in such a fashionable place as Mistral she started to feel a bit underdressed, as such she has taken to wearing a rather fashionable cropped jacket with her symbol embroidered on the back. Her only accessory of note is a simple bulky metallic bracer on her right arm that can expand into a round shield.

History:
A decade before Bas would be born, her father Amaz had left Menagerie working as a deck hand on whatever cargo ship would take him. Although hardly a prestigious position, it afforded him enough experience and contacts that he would slowly but steadily climb the corporate ladder. Travelling to every corner of the world he would eventually meet the love of his life, Mei, an accomplished painter in Vacuo. Leaving the sailors life behind, Amaz started to manage the handling of cargo to and from the ships and their warehouses, a new job that would let him stay on land with his soon-to-be wife.

Together they had a single child, Bastet. Rather than her father's wolf tail, infant Bas's head was adorned by kitten ears and a dark complexion that matched her mother's. Whilst their family was doing quite well for itself, Vacuo is still a chaotic place by nature, and the stress of combining a life of Grimm attacks at sea with experiencing Faunus discrimination first hand had left her father a bit concerned in general. This was one of the reasons why he pressured Bas to get combat training. When the time came she enrolled and gladly went to Oasis, in part because she thought it would be exciting but also as it would still leave her with reasonable free time to get on with her art. She may have been born a Faunus like her dad, but her personality was certainly leaning toward her mother's side instead. She had grown up with her mother's painting and had adored watching her create art, seeing how each layer would add to the next. However with time she started getting a more empty feeling from the art; as she had grown her mother's art had stayed exactly the same. It was certainly an impressive feat to succeed as an artist but yet Bas couldn't shake the feeling that she had seen it all before.

Amaz had originally pictured that once her training at Oasis was done she could pursue a different career but still have her combat training ready to protect herself. Bas however was hooked. Although she wasn't someone with an intense need to fight Grimm, she had become proud of just how well she could do it. Seeing an opportunity to travel the world like her dad and expand her artistic horizons, she set her sights on Haven Academy in Mistral.

Personality: Bastet is an incredibly creative and resourceful person, but only if she thinks it's worth it. She does have a bad habit that once she has decided on a design or otherwise found the solution to a problem then she loses interest quickly, afraid to stagnate like she feels her mother did. Though she enjoys being a good fighter, it's not something she finds creatively stimulating, so once she developed a style she was competent with she didn't feel the need to develop it further. Similarly, she doesn't care too much about the more theoretical subjects she was taught, causing her to be a bit below average academically.

Aura and Semblance: Her aura has taken a golden color.

Not one to overcomplicate things, she typically refers to her semblance as her 'weapon bond'. As long as her spire is within 40 feet of her, she is able to blink to it. Though simple in its nature, it has become essential in her fighting style. The blink is essentially instantaneous, though not a true teleport; if a wall is in between her and her weapon, she will faceplant into the wall.

Combat Behavior: In battle, Bastet is best described as a skirmishing brawler. Her semblances provides her with incredible mobility, and while most commonly used to engage the opponents back line, she also uses her semblance and collapsible shield to fall back and protect her more fragile teammates. One of her favourite moves is to toss her weapon straight up and blink to it in order to get a quick birds eye view before launching it (and thereby herself) towards the enemy. In melee, she favours holding her glaive in both hands, but can quickly adapt a more defensive form with her shield and using the glaive as a spear. Though strong and versatile in melee, Bas is often a predictable opponent, with no Dust weapons to mix in some elemental flavour. Though her mobility is high with her semblance, anyone who keeps track of where her glaive is thrown will know precisely where she will blink to. She used to carry a simple store-bought handgun as a way to increase her ranged combat prowess, however she was such a terrible shot that she just started throwing her glaive instead.

WEAPON

Name: Spire

Primary Form: Glaive

Dust Functions: N/A

History: Though simple in its single form design a lot of work went into designing a glaive that could also be thrown as a spear.

WEAPON

Name: N/A

Primary Form: Collapsed bracer

Secondary Form: Shield

Dust Functions: N/A

History: Bas' shield was initially the product of boredom. Her spire only has the single form and a store-bought gun doesn't exactly need much tweaking to work, so in their workshop time at Oasis she didn't have much to do. What could have just been a slab of metal forged into a circle became an over-engineered collapsing structure, just in order to fill time.

AMA Section / Free for all AMA: Help us see your characters
« on: September 04, 2017, 05:12:41 PM »
I'm currently getting an art commission of my character done and have been loving seeing a visual representation of the character, so in the vein of the other free for all AMAs I'd love to see your characters!

To be clear this isn't meant to be specific for those who are artists or have commissioned art, though those will stand out everyone is free to come with a few reference images (This can be as simple as saying same hair style as this image or using a faceclaim) or use an online avatar creator.

A bit more of a niche topic, though I'd still love to see what comes out of it!

EDIT: Feel free to include any art for their symbols as well ^^

AMA Section / Huntsmen and huntresses, what's your landing strategy?
« on: August 06, 2017, 05:49:04 PM »
I've posted a few of these in the past but for those who haven't seen them this is an AMA thread where the question is specific to the thread, so we can see how different people respond to the same question.

Other question specific threads:
How do your characters spend their free time?-by me
Have you ever considered a different career path?-by me
How do you think about your weapon(s)?-by Siuwa

For this thread:
Huntsmen and huntresses, what's your landing strategy?

Beacon Academy / A Lunch Side Chat [HTDG]
« on: August 04, 2017, 05:52:57 PM »
Typically the student sparring matches at Beacon are run as one vs one, sometimes with the option to tag in other team mates. The one on one format is done as it's easier to instruct two combatants over eight and it takes less space so they're run indoors. However for the huntsmen and huntresses in training it is essential to practice team coordination, so there are occasional four on four matches held outdoors. After one such event several of the first year students at Beacon could be seen in the grounds slowly making their way back to indoors for lunch.

One of the first to arrive in the hall was Diana. Duels between student always made her a bit uncomfortable so she had left as soon as their fight was over, whilst most everyone else stayed to watch the other teams fight. Walking with a slight limp she examined the food laid out on the table, piles of bacon, toast, doughnuts, even whole cream pies. However not one with much appetite she simply grabbed an apple and headed over to a table, figuring the others would join her when they got in.

The fight against team Brandy (BRND) had been rough. It started off well enough, the boys were kicking all kinds of ass and she had been able to block off their ranged opponents with some ice. But it left her too distracted to notice that Nyx girl pop out of nowhere, it earned Diana a sprained ankle and it would have been a lot worse had Janna not saved her.

Sitting cross-legged in her chair and absentmindedly rubbing her sore ankle she stoped the play-by-play of the fight in her mind and looked around the hall to see if any of the others had made it in yet

First off if anyone would like to change the setup, by all means, let me know and ill do it. Haven't really setup a thread for a team before, and since it's just for the team to chat I don't think we need to bring in any NPCs.

Also Didn't mean for this to be Diana centric just telling the setup from her perspective, if we want to discuss some strategy it might be good for each of you to include how they perceived the fight.

RPG Discussion / Time for some stats
« on: June 16, 2017, 10:22:13 AM »
So most of you have probably heard about this in the Discord but if not I've taken it upon myself to get some data about all the characters we have approved so far. It's mostly basic stuff but I think its still nice to have it collected, and from now on new profiles can simply be added. This also means that if we want to collect stats on other aspects, then at least the basic stuff is covered so we need only look at specifics.

Anyhoo I've tried to collect the more interesting stuff here (following the template cause why the hell not) with the full spreadsheet at the bottom. Also wanted to thank Kali for helping out with a few profiles towards the end :D

(Would have liked to make the graphs a bit better but turns out google sheets is horrrrible at it)

Age:
Unsurprisingly the most common age is 17 with the average being 20.5.

Species and Gender:
The ratio of women to men is pretty much even (133 female, 128 male). In regards to species women have a more even split, with 44% of female characters being faunus, whilst only 29% of male characters are faunus. (Non-binary are 100% faunus, however that's just a sample size of 3).

Faunus:
I've yet to come up with a way to present this graphically as its so varied, so for now I'll post some highlights here (feel free to check the spreadsheet for details). The most common species is fox, however with grouping the Felidae were more popular than the Canidae (24 vs 22).

In total there are currently 41 different species.

The most common traits were ears followed by tail, the third most common was profiles that claimed to be faunus with no written faunus traits.

School:
Couldn't really make a graph that contained the range of values here so a table will have to do.

Height:
I would love to give you guys the average height, however as it's not in metric I wont It's 5'8". The plot of the heights does make a decent bell curve. (There are 4 characters not included here as they were above 7'0", with the max at a whooping 8'4)

Parents:
155 parents have died for our tragic backstories (and 13 tows/villages).

Semblance:
The semblance stuff changed a bit over the recording so this isn't finished atm.
However based on what I have I can say that the most common semblances are in order; Shield, Enhanced senses, Speed, self movement manipulation, fire, electricity, none.
This will be revisited next time I have time (Or if someone else is up for it).

Weapon:
Far too much to organise graphically, so take a look at the spreadsheet.

Link to the full spreadsheet (The Faunus species, and weapon sheets are probably the most interesting as they weren't graphed).
At the moment only me and Kali have editing permission, whilst I'll try to keep track myself any staff involved in character approval are welcome to contact me for editing rights.

EDIT: There are also bound to be a few errors in here, even when trying to do as quickly as possible this still took a few days work. If you see anything particular feel free to let me know here or on discord and I'll fix it.

AMA Section / The Visionary (And free for all) AMA
« on: March 12, 2017, 07:23:45 PM »
First off I have to apologise for the title, but let's be honest I had no choice.
Original post: ShowHide

Anywho I've started a few general question threads which went pretty well but hadn't made one for me specifically so figured I should. If nothing else just to add it to the signature.

The usual deal, feel free to ask any questions for my character s   (well there's only Diana atm) or me.

While the title was just meant as a shitty pun this thread has been running a bit different than the others and I like it. After all idea with the AMA threads in general is to learn more about each others characters (and the users).

So if you post a question here I will always respond to it. However all questions here will also be open for anyone else who wants to respond, so we can see some varied responses. (Would be boring to just hear from one person) If there ends up being several questions going at once just use the horizontal line [ hr ] to distinguish between them.

23
The last question thread seemed to go over well so thought I'd make another one. For those that didn't see it: this thread will focus on one question rather than one character, so we can see how different characters respond. Since the first one was pretty simple I thought we could try a more involved question this time.

Many citizens of Remnant have been saved by huntsmen and huntresses, as such it is an especially well-respected career path. However it is equally among the most dangerous lines of work. Those of you that have chosen this path: Was there ever a moment where you reconsidered? If you were to chose a different direction, what would it be?

Approved Characters / Diana Levone
« on: January 21, 2017, 09:09:19 PM »
CHARACTER

Name: Diana Levone

Age: 18 (6th of Amare, 62 AC)

Species and Gender: Human, Female

Symbol:

Occupation: Advanced combat student. Beacon, first year

Appearance: Whilst of a generally average female height (158cm/5'2") at a place like Beacon Academy Diana just seems to be shorter than her peers, possibly due to slightly poor posture or just her small frame (48kg/106lbs). She has gentle eyes of a violet shade. Her wavy shoulder-length brown hair is usually kept in a slightly untidy ponytail with long loose strands framing her face. Still adjusting to the climate in Vale she typically wears a loose-fitting white blouse with a blue hooded dress that has been trimmed down to ensure it doesn't restrict her movement, her weapon collapses into a holster on her belt. On all missions she wears a white choker that her dad had given her, she has a fire dust crystal that can clip on it to help with arctic temperatures. When around the campus she wears the uniform with some short socks and is more likely to have her hair loose, and occasionally wears some earrings or light makeup.

Chibi: ShowHide

History:
TLDR: ShowHide
Diana grew up with her family in Mantle, as is often the case for families in the defunct capital they were poor and hard-working. With a brother in the military and her father working in dust mines and her mother in several part-time jobs, Diana started taking on a fair amount of the house chores from an early age. With an image of prosperity literally flying over their heads the city of Mantle was not the most inspiring place to grow up, the one source of inspiration for Diana was the huntsmen and huntresses that would protect the walls of their city, as they seemed fuller of life than anyone in the dying capital. Eventually, her dad would take a management position that allowed him to move their family up in the skies to live at Atlas proper, and for Diana to start the primary combat classes at Atlas academy. Her semblance allows her to combine and move her aura which caught the eye of some researchers. Their curiosity would culminate with her trying to steal aura from someone, which caused her to lose control and attack the person. She ran away from the academy and briefly started studying to be a paramedic but ended up trying to become a huntress again the next year at Beacon.

There is little question that since the great war Atlas has been the center of Solitas rather than Mantle, a seemingly impossible structure that soared over the old capital of the kingdom. However Atlas was not open to all who desired a life in the skies, either due to genuine size limitations or the selfish desires of the elite the city of Mantle remained standing. One family that was still held up in Mantle was that of the Levones, a household consisting of a father (Corbin), a mother (Arcene), an elder son (Allo) and a younger daughter named Diana. The family lived in an apartment over a failing restaurant where the mother worked as a chef and waitress depending on how many clients were there. She also ran her own tailoring business from home, doing patch jobs for pocket change. Diana's father would be gone for the week only returning from the dust mines on the weekend, and her brother who is four years older than her and had left their home to start his career in the military up at Atlas. Whilst the family had to work to stay afloat they were still better off than some of their neighbors who lived in such desperate poverty. Under such living conditions, Diana had to grow up fast, even at a young age she ended up doing a lot of the general housework just to make things easier on her parents.

Diana would often wait on the walls for the transport from the mines to arrive, in part because she was excited to welcome her dad home, though she always got a bit sad seeing how hopeless some of the fanus passengers looked. She also wanted to see the guards of the transports, these warriors always had such extravagant fashion and weapons, compared to the hopeless passengers the warriors seemed to be bursting with life. These were the first huntsmen and huntresses she ever saw. With neither a waitress nor a dust miner being too appealing as career paths she kept dreaming of becoming one of those warriors from the transport, those that traveled the world dedicating their lives to protecting others. She was reluctant to tell her parents of this at first, unsure of how they’d take it, but when she did she got nothing but support and it was all she needed to apply to Atlas academy. Though initially pessimistic about having to leave her parents on the ground she thoroughly enjoyed her time at the academy, especially now that she got to see her brother more often. She was a bit weak when it came to combat (and social) skills but more than made up for it with her weapon design and academic prowess.

Diana wasn’t the only Farren where it seemed things were looking up, her brother Allo who was now fully in the military had been selected to undergo additional training to become a pilot. Her father had been promoted to a management position (probably because they wanted to have someone the miners knew that they could talk to, who was a non-fanus, and had two children enrolled at Atlas), after moving to Atlas her mother even had some success in her tailoring business. This seemed like a moment of prosperity for the entire family, except there was something that felt off for Diana as she progressed to the advanced combat classes at the Academy. Her semblance lets her combine her aura with someone else during which she can leave behind some of her own, not the greatest of combat semblances yet it seemed to intrigue some of the professors extremely. She would occasionally be brought to one of the labs to measure the extent of her semblance. At first, she was excited to have a room full of experts helping her understand her semblance, but there was something about this highly scientific approach to aura that made her uneasy. The culmination of this sensation came when she was collected by some of the staff in the evening and brought to an abandoned building on the outskirts of Mantle. Upon entering she saw a fanus boy tied to a chair wearing a black and white uniform with a red symbol on the back, the uniform of the white fang. Supposedly he was here to start a terror cell in Atlas, however she had a hard time believing that the White fang would send a teenager younger than her up here alone, this seemed like the silly idea of someone acting alone. It was first now it dawned on her why she was there. The researchers had speculated that she could use her semblance in reverse, to steal aura, however they didn’t want to risk testing it on someone at the school. Here they had a “terrorist”, someone no one would miss if anything went wrong. Whilst Diana had no interest in testing this part of her ability and was disgusted by the entire affair she didn't have the confidence to stand up to them, so she quietly knelt next to the boy and began.

At this point it’s important to remember that a person's aura is the manifestation of their soul, the most basic part of what makes someone who they are. By combining her aura with someone else's she could occasionally get glimpses of what was essential to their being. The fanus before her wasn’t evil, she felt his ambition, his strong sense of justice and of duty. However there was one key difference between them, where she was merciful and wouldn’t strike an unarmed opponent he was more pragmatic, if he felt that his opponent was a danger to his people he would strike without remorse. When Diana started to pull on his aura it seems she got something else, for a brief moment their personalities mixed and she experienced his pragmatism. At that crucial moment, all she knew was that before her was someone whose sole purpose for being in Atlas was to hurt her countrymen, her friends, her family, so she acted.

Horrified by what she had done she packed her bags and ran away from the academy the same night. Those who had been there tried to reassure her that she had nothing to fear and that she was still welcome at the academy, but she would have none of it. There and then she had decided to give up on becoming a huntress, she enrolled in a paramedical degree and tried to put her combat training behind her. However anyone who knew her could easily see that it wasn't right for her, she liked helping people but was clearly depressed in that role. Her parents were able to break through to her and suggested that now that their finances were stronger she could study in a different country, one with less of a scientific focus. She applied, and a year after she had originally started advanced classes at Atlas she was now starting fresh at Beacon.

Personality:
Being forced to grow up early her personality when moving to Atlas had been on the rough side, not uncaring but she had little patience for games and missed a lot of social cues. It took her some time to make friends but the few relationships she did form were particularly close. Her friends had helped her mellow out a bit and by the time she came to Beacon she was more willing to put herself out there, relax and enjoy herself. That being said she is hardly a social butterfly, she still comes off as a bit awkward at first. Part of the reason for that is that she struggles with her confidence, she will almost always sell herself short, not to be humble but because she both doubts and fears what she can do.

With the ability to get a slight experience of how others see the world she is an exceptionally empathetic person with a tendency of becoming a bit emotional. In her team she is devoted to trying to keep things running smoothly, she’ll gladly take the lion's share of the chores and occasionally bakes or cooks for her teammates. She starts to struggle when there is team infighting, generally staying quiet unless spoken to. An introvert at heart she does spend a lot of her time reading or working alone, and as such she does generally well in most of her school subjects (still she never puts her hand up in a class even if she is certain of the answer). She is also a bit of a hopeless romantic, reading loads of romantic novels but gets extremely flustered whenever anyone seems to take interest in her. On the whole, Diana is a kind and clever person though a bit awkward. She cares immensely for the people around her always encouraging and supporting them, she also completely fails to ever take her own advice.

Aura: Her aura is of a blue-silver colour, its slightly stronger than that of an average first-year student at Beacon, in part due to the semester she spent at Atlas academy and natural incline towards aura use.

Semblance:
Caduceus: By placing her hand on a living creature's chest and keeping it there for 10 seconds she is able to combine their auras. This has a few applications though most used is to transfer some of her own aura to someone else. Transferring is often invigorating for the recipient but it's usually a painful and tiring process for her. Though not strong enough to keep everyone “topped up”, in an emergency or when stumbling upon injured hunters she can sacrifice her own strength to get them in better shape. A side effect of her semblance is that by touching the fabric of what makes a person who they are she gains some insight into what makes them tick, it figuratively lets her see how they see the world. However she has learned not to rely on it as a judge of character as some good people may have some undesirable characteristics that they have learned to overcome, and some evil people may seem like a saint.

In a non-combat setting when using her semblance the recipient can use her aura to heal. For example, if someone is bedridden recovering from wounds at 100% aura and Diana is at 100% aura they would recover faster as if they had 200% aura. However since no person can have more than 100% aura this is only possible for as long as she is willing to sit there with them whilst they recover, since there is no aura transfer this process isn’t painful for either party.

She has only made one attempt to use her semblance to drain aura rather than giving it away, the process took a lot longer and in the end she was too distracted to notice if she actually gain any aura. Since that day she has refused to even attempt it again and will lie to anyone who asks, saying that it is impossible.

Numbers: ShowHide
Using her semblance would take 20% of her aura and fatigue her 25% to give someone else 40% of their aura (Up to but not exceeding 100%).

As for healing recovery would be at a double rate. An injury that would take 20 days to recover from is done in 12-13 if she dedicates all her time (barr sleeping) for the full period (However In total this takes up more time, 12 days for two people or 20 days for one

Combat Behavior: Whilst a strong fighter compared to the general populous at the academy she is perhaps one of the weaker first years. She can confidently handle the basic forms of grim herself, with more advanced forms she’ll try to avoid them rather than fight. She is extremely uneasy fighting any human or faunus opponents, even in practice.

In combat, her emphasis is on supporting her teammates rather than dealing damage, by using the dust functions of her rifle she attempts to lock down (ice) or obstruct the view(steam) of the opponent. In general she prefers to keep her opponents at a medium-range where she is most accurate with her rifle, with her team in between her and them. She has no shield or armor leaving her vulnerable to ranged attacks, relying on cover for protection. In melee combat she utilizes a defensive technique to compensate for her lack of strength, which works against an average opponent however anyone who is particularly physically strong (or with better technique) can certainly overpower her. When she has her weapon in its melee form it completely removes her ranged and dust capacities, making her a lot less effective.

Though she only has some limited paramedical training she still carries a basic first aid kit in a pouch on her thigh with some bandaids, bandages, sterilizing alcohol, pain killers, dust powered ice pack, and a suture kit, though she rarely has any use for them as most wounds are healed by aura she still carries it with her on all missions.

WEAPON
Name: Eclipse

Primary Form: Rifle
Diana’s weapon is essentially a rifle with two barrels and a bayonet, though as with most handmade weapons in Remnant there is more going on in this simple design. The lower of the two barrels is a single-shot rifle for medium range, here she can fire twelve rounds before having to reload. These shots may not have the stopping power of the other barrel but they still pack a punch and function as her main source of ranged damage. The top barrel is more reminiscent of a bolt action sniper rifle, here she can fire much larger bullets, though only one can be loaded at a time. Whilst it can be a high-impact sniper round, she usually uses it to fire a lower velocity but larger dust rounds to deliver a greater payload.

Secondary Form: Compact & Sword
The pivotal part of the design is that of the circular handle, as both it and the parts around it can rotate. This is most obvious as the weapon is taking its compact form. Here the stock collapses to cover the blade which in turn retracts pushing the handle out of the central ring, this is the form her weapon is usually carried on her belt. The sword handle is protruding for easy access in a surprise encounter, in order to get the full rifle she simply needs to push the handle back into the ring before pulling it off her belt. She designed the sword to detach from the main body of the weapon in order to keep the blade light which is important for someone who isn’t all that strong. As the triggers for her rifle are on the sword handle she can’t shoot when detached.

Dust Functions:
The main of her dust utility comes from the top barrel, her preferences are for ice and steam. Using the ice to control the battlefield and lock down opponents and steam to obstruct the line of sight from ranged opponents. Whilst those are her favorites she does still carry a few fire, electricity, and gravity rounds for utility.

History: Diana's weapon is one that has gone through a multitude of variations since its inception. The changes were both to find a design she was effective with, but also to ensure it was reliable in the Atlas climate. Early renditions were too heavy to use in melee until she allowed the blade to fully detach. When fully automatic the cold would cause the oils in the rifle to thicken making it jam, the newer mechanism has a significantly slower rate of fire but is far more reliable. The top barrel was added as she learned more about the application of dust allowing for the use of larger ammunition whilst keeping it reliable by feeding it manually. Some of these limitations could be reversed now that she lives in Vale, however so far she has only removed rubber from the grips since there's no risk of frostbite.

AMA Section / How do your characters spend their free time?
« on: January 21, 2017, 06:45:14 PM »
When I first found this forum I found the AMA section to be a really interesting idea, however as there have been no posts in over two months it seemed rather dead. So I thought we could try something a little different. This thread will be specific to a question with (hopefully) several characters responding, so we can see how different (and alike) we are. We'll start off easy and if people are interested in this we can have some more involved questions. Anyway...

Whether huntsman, huntress, professor or baker, we all have some downtime during the day to relax a bit, how do you spend yours? Hobbies, music, arts, crafts? Have you been doing it long? Any particular reason you chose this thing?

Introductions, birthdays, and departures. / A novice has entered the fray
« on: January 13, 2017, 12:10:00 PM »
Hey hey everyone. I'm a biomedical student with practically no experience when it comes to creative writing, but after taking part in a couple DnD games I'm hoping to improve in order to create better backstories and the like. I've never really tried forum based RP so not sure to what extent I'll take to it, but I'm a huge fan of the RWBY world and have loved playing DnD. Once I feel I've crafted a solid character (and i have time, sigh) I'd certainly be interested in giving it a go.

The rules weren't too specific to how the forums themselves work (unless there's anther thread for that?) so thought to just ask two things here.

1. Is it okay to write /try to get approved characters without necessarily planning to use them in the RP? I've been planning to write a full team as practice (one at a time of course), but can understand if you don't want that added to the work pile of the mods.

2. Is there an appropriate forum to post a thread for some quick feedback on the gist of a team (team and character names / basic idea of the semblances / team motif). As i'm not too familiar, my main  concern is to make sure it follows the "rules" and isn't cliche or unoriginal.

Think that covers everything. I'm looking forward to familiarise myself with the ongoings of the site, though I might be rather sporadic in activity when studying gets hectic (It'll probably be a while before any character stuff is actually posted).
Cheers, Vision.
