Title: Small Combat Update
Post by: Dr. Gustave on September 22, 2016, 05:31:59 PM
Semblances no longer draw from your aura reserves. We came to include this change after going back to the tourney matches from the third volume. Despite contestants using their semblances, their aura meters stayed the same. If someone has 1% of their aura, they can use their semblance. If someone has 0% aura they canNOT use their semblance. That being said, THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN SPAM YOUR SEMBLANCE!! Use reservation, semblance still take a toll on you, just in terms of fatigue after extended use.

By default, from now on, semblance will not take a toll on their users aura, HOWEVER, if you wish to keep the previous system of combat, you must be the thread creator and mention that the thread is using the system at the start of the thread or inform all participants beforehand.

How about semblances like Nathan's? How would those work under the new system?

Semblances that depend on "X% aura lets them do Y" are most easily changed to a fatigue system. Kind of. The moves that originally took more aura to use now cause the user to become more fatigued. For example, "Hits: - Like a speeding truck for 60% of his Aura." Would instead be more like " Hits: - Like a speeding truck, but reduced movement for a few posts" or a similar system.

I should note, we are not requiring anyone to edit their semblances as using aura % is still a optional system.

So to be clear, in the tournament, I won't be able to use the old way of doing stuff?

So what I am getting here is that Semblance no longer draw from Aura, but instead constant usage has a toll on the user's body.
Well certainly it would make some things here more easier to track, like spare and competitions that use aura as their damage counter/hp. But then some Semblances, like Nathan(the character) and Galileo would need to be changed a bit so to fit the new system, but of course it is optional so I may or may not request an edit.
If I do then definitely I found a new way to stop certain Semblance spam.

What about semblances that directly involve projecting the aura itself (e.g. using aura in a physical form for attacks or creating aura-based illusions)?
