Everywhere Else / Re: Hunt for the Howling Storm {CLOSED}

After given permission to handle the crown Solar looked over the ancient crown with intense fascination. She held the crown up to her face and inspected every jewel and angle there was to look at. Hey eyes sparkled as brightly as the crown itself with intense curiosity Who made this? Why did they make this? How did they make this? Can it be made again? and most importantly to her...What can it do?

She knew this was the exact opposite of what Cordell had just instructed but she didn't care, not when her answers were staring at her in the face. Infrared and Rust looked to be arguing about something while Akel and Cordell were the farthest away from her, seizing her opportunity Solar quickly placed the crown atop her head.
Or so she attempted to anyway.

The crown stopped just touching the top of her head with a *clink as her horns got in the way of actually wearing it. Solar's expression changed from gleeful excitement to horrified as she realized what happend. Despite this she continued to force the crown over her horns despite it being a clear impossibility. After several irritated attempts she began to get experimental, first she simply let the crown dangle on her horn and concluded it did nothing, next she let the crown sit atop her horns and concluded failure, lastly she let her her whole head bend backwards and let the crown sit on her face. "Aw come on! Why do I have horns!?" Solar raged to herself as she angrily threw the crown on the ground in a childish attempt at breaking it.

What If: Always - Lumiere-Sans Abril

"We're friends right? You'll always protect me right?"
The little girl with the pink beanie asked.

We were kids back then, barely knew from right from wrong, completely blind to the cruelty of our choices and what they could do. But that doesn't change what I did.
Lumiere-Sans Abril, 13 years old. Creative, happy, and carefree, no different to any other child his age. A happy family, plenty of friends, and his first crush. Why was he so smitten by the new girl wearing the pink beanie? Was it the smile? Or the weird flowery smell she wafted? He couldn't explain why but he just wanted nothing more then to be with her.
So it came as a shock when she asked him "Hey what's YOUR name?"
"L-Lumiere" he never stuttered before. "Can we be friends?" She asked so casually without a second thought. With the initial shock over he replied "Sure!" With a feeling he only felt on birthdays.
Being so young the boy didn't know what he felt for the girl with the pink hat, but he didn't care, all he wanted was to be with her. They played, they frolicked, and they argued, but they were always together.

"We're friends right? You'll always protect me right?
"Always!"

A mean spirited boy got curious one day, and removed the pink beanie she never took off. Ears, a pair of droopy dog ears, there was no hiding them for all of the world to see, and for them to turn on her like beasts on prey. Atlas, of the four kingdoms the prejudice on faunus run rampant and unashamed. Animal, mutt, savage, disease ridden monster wearing human skin. The scarred girl in pink only looked to the boy for help, it was obvious what the eyes pleaded without words.

"We're friends right? You'll always protect me right?"

Her pupils shrunk and her mouth hung agape in horror as she realized what he was going to do, nothing. Despite what the boy's heart said, he was only a child, a boy that was raised like any other child of Atlas, a child that didn't know enough about what he felt, a child that simply followed an angry herd that all told him the same thing. They are less then human. She lied to you, she never told you what she was, she is beneath you. These were the beliefs that were fed to him since birth, but an itch in the back of his mind never left. He believed what he did at the time was right, but this is only what he was told. It was if there was something he forgot and the boy was so desperate to remember what it was. And by the time he knew what it was, it was far too late.

The boy would look over to his right where he would usually find a girl with the pink beanie, only to find an empty seat. A hole in his stomach opened up as a feeling of dread took him. He filled the hole with thoughts of 'good riddance' and 'the liar is gone' but the hole was far too deep. Days went by and it wasn't until the seat was taken by another student did the boy snap. Sudden panic and anger made him push the confused student out of the seat in an explosion of fury. "That's not your seat, what if she comes back" the class only looked to him in confusion and the boy only apologized for his sudden outburst. "She's gone, I don't know where she went and now I'll never see her again, and it's my fault"

"We're friends right? You'll always protect me right?"

And I did nothing, when she wanted to prove her family wrong, that there was hope, that there were those of us that could be trusted, that were different. I broke her dreams, our promise, something that could've been amazing. I was weak, I only did what I was told, I was too cowardly to go against what was normal, and now I'll regret it until the day I die, no, until I find her. Now I know better, now I know what I felt when I first met her, now I know what the words that come from me and not from everyone are. I'll find her again so I can keep the promise we made.

"We're friends right? You'll always protect me right?"

Always

Solar burned a slight shade of red as she sat herself back down, she didn't fully understand why she was laughed at but was under the impression her initial assumption was wrong. Settling down to listen to Sean's explanation, most of his words went in on one ear and right out the other as Solar pretended to understand what he was saying. It wasn't that she wasn't paying attention, only the concepts Sean explained were so to her foreign he might as well have been explaining to the table.

Unfortunately for Sean, Solar's attention once again bounced from him to the drinks brought to the table. She stared for a moment at the dark drinks and was instantly amazed by what was in it. "Wow ice!? Are you guys rich or something!? I can really drink this!?...what is this?" Solar asked in fascination as she took an experimental sniff of the bubbly drink. Deciding it held a kind of sweet odor Solar took her first sip of it, and immediately stopped as the fizzy froth taste took her by surprise. Once the initial shock wore off she blinked in surprise and chugged the rest of her drink, along with a few ice cubes she crunched in her mouth.
"That was good! So what your saying is we should go beat up the...government? the trade guild? both?" Solar asked in conclusion to Sean's explanation.

Maena's one comment doused Solar's rage like water over a fire. "Really!? You think so? They are kinda cool right? Sometimes they can get in the way like wearing hats or helmets, but they make a great weapon!" Solar said blushing slightly from the off hand compliment.

"So why not make this easy? Turn yourself in, admit to assaulting those people, and you'll avoid the painful beat-down we're going to dump on your sorry ass."

"Well your obviously not the pipsqueak, and who exactly are you? my imagination is going wild with possibilities right now; an angry mob gang is my
first guess. And assaulting what people? Turning in myself for what exactly? Nope try again child. All I did was hire the runt, now pop quiz for you!

What's my name?

Come on don't disappoint me it's so nice to be recognized even in this backwater kingdom"
as the voice went on the disguised voice changed to that of a male voice that radiated a kind of smugness that came from royalty.

Despite Suna'a kind gesture the thief was preoccupied with digging her way out of the sand. She paused for a moment to look at him with a scarred look only to turn back around and resume her work.

The hypothetical scenario Sean painted for Solar was unfathomable to her. Potential prey is always finder keepers, no one could possess something that's available to everyone. The very idea of someone "owning" something that belonged to everyone annoyed her even in a fake situation. "Forget the fence I'd teach that guy a lesson with my fists! What lets him do whatever he wants with what's supposed to for everyone! Where do we find this guy and his lousy fence!?" Solar said raising her voice, forgetting it was a hypothetical situation she got up from the table cracking her knuckles readying herself for a fight.

"Cool-headed!? That rat almost broke my horn and ran off! No one touches my horns and gets away with it! Lemme go! I'll beat him to a pulp!" Solar  angrily shouted at the sand while struggling to get out of Maena's grasp. Solar's tantrum added to the attention the group was attracting, a dome of sand, Solar yelling at it, and Maena stopping her, more and more heads turned in confused looks what was going on.

As Suna went on, the tears in the little thief's eyes pooled up and eventually dripped down her face. She quickly reached for something behind her and threw it at Suna and Sean before scrambling away and continued to claw and dig at the wall of sand. The object that landed at the pair's feet was a small box shaped radio. A switch was flipped on the device making a beeping noise with a flashing yellow light. The noise and the light immediately cut out to be replaced by a green light and a voice

"You better have it if your calling, you know what happens otherwise don't you?"

Solar was hardly paying attention (especially the part about not using the crown),as her sparkling eyes were fixated on the ancient jewelry. Personal space was clearly not a concern for her as she hovered all over Cordell holding the crown.

The interior of the building was a gallery of sights for Solar to look and poke at. As she followed Sean inside, her eyes scanned the photos that adorned the walls wondering what stories each one told. Was it an easy fight? Did they lose anyone? How did they win?. Solar wordlessly mimicked Sean as he took a seat and watched him interact with the owner of the bar, as she said her piece and left, something she said caught her attention.
"Why did she say business twice?"

Solar calmed herself down to listen to Sean's explanation, she wanted to interrupt with more questions every time he explained something. If it's rare and valuable how can it be fake? How can something even be fake? Why do rich people want to impress each other? but it was Sean's last comment that truly caught her attention.

"Stuff your not supposed to buy? why can't I buy them? What kind of stuff is it? Is it dangerous? Where can we find this stuff? Let's go look for it!" If there was anything Solar wanted it was anything considered 'Off-limits'. After being lied to about everything outside her village, she made it a point to go out of her way to disobey anything that denied her. However a growl from her stomach interrupted her excitement.
"Aaaafter we get that food, sooo which way do we go?" she said looking around waiting for Sean to show her the way.

Catching up to the group Solar came across the dome of sand and Maena standing guard in front of it. Solar reached through her memory to remember her name...and failed What was her name again?...Something with an M...Ma....May? "Hey May did we get him? Is he in here?" Solar asked referring to the sand. "Hey you get out of there!" without waiting Solar started clawing and digging on the sand.

Despite being trapped, the thief scrambled away from the two and attempted to dig herself out of the sand. Only to stop when she could hear Solar angrily doing the same on the opposite side.  "Hey you get out of there!" she paused and faced Sean and Suna with an expression that looked like it was about to cry again, apparently deciding escape was futile and it was the lesser of two evils.

"If it wasn't your idea, then whose was it? And while you're at it, what do you mean by 'she still has it'? Do you mean her horns?"

"W-What else would I have taken? Isn't this what this is about? As for who, I c-can't say or he'll come back to hurt me"

"Look, kid, we're gonna need a lot more to go on than that. My friend, the one with the ram's horns? She's accused of attempted murder, and I ain't about to just let that slide. So... why don't you take a seat and explain all of this from the top, hm?"
"Murder? What do you mean, did she kill someone?"

"Oh It's gotten better since then! I still feel a little crack in it but at least it doesn't hurt anymore" she reached up to her left horn that currently had a wrapping of gauze and an orange ribbon tied to it. She gave the wound an experimental poke seeing if it would cause discomfort. As it turned out the wound was still sensitive and Solar winced in surprise at the pain. "Maybe just a little bit" she said with a reassuring smile.
The colorful sights, sounds, and smells from the market made Solar's head swivel and turn in every direction. Having seen the market but had little success in actually purchasing anything she now had Sean as a guide. "Ooh Sean what's that thing it smells good!" Solar exclaimed directing her attention to a pizza joint, "Ooh these are cool how do you make them?" Before Sean could even see what Solar what she was talking about she would immediately jump from one thing to another "Hey! Hey! what are these things for? Can I eat this? What're those clothes that guys wearing? What's with this statue?" Her attention ended on a street performer pretending to be a smiling bronze statue in a cloak with a small basket of change in front of him.

Recovered from overusing her semblance, Solar lept up and followed Infrared back to the rest of the group. Catching the subject of the conversation Solar voiced her own opinion. "Why don't we just keep it!?" she said with child like enthusiasm. "Or at least why don't you keep it Capn? Can I still try it on pleeaase?"

"Think you still have some more throwing in you?"

The answer was no, but what Solar said was "You bet I do!". Solar braced herself to feel more bullets but Infrared's save gave her the opportunity to counterattack, if she didn't take the chance now, they would both end up in trouble. There was no other choice. With a swinging arm Solar grabbed the backpack full of bombs and continued to spin around with the bags weight. An orange glow spread as she spun in three circles building up momentum, and at the end of the third spin Solar let go of the bag. The bag soared through the sky just above the hail of bullets and the force stopped just short of the ship. But by that time Solar set off the detonator with a click. She didn't even bother to see if it hit as she collapsed spread out on the floor of the cave clearly out of breath. "Huff...Puff...Just...give me a...second" she wheezed as she started chugging water from her bladder.

"I'm Solar!" she replied to being asked her name. She looked a Saffron's extended hand for a moment perplexed by the sudden hospitality from a complete stranger. To her the offer was strange but she accepted it nonetheless, after all she knew she needed a guiding hand.
When the music had started Solar wanted nothing more then to sing to it. But without knowing the lyrics she could only recite back the chorus, and that was enough for her. "I wanna be a white, white light! Na na na na na!" as she danced to it, her movements were mixed with the way she fought. She punched, kicked, and spun around many invisible opponents. "I'm from Vacuo! Well originally from a village outside Vacuo but close enough" despite her answer being inaccurate, she felt more connected to the world by saying she was from Vacuo then a remote isolated village no one had heard of. As she answered she found her self copying Saffron for some reason when she unconsciously brought her own flask of water to her lips.
