Clad in her full plate and wielding all the weapons made available, Saffron was taken in by the complexity of her new weapons. Marvelling as she shifted them between their three stages before looking up to face her opponent. 'Pretty cool huh? When they said they wanted some students for a training session in Vale I didn't think it would be anything so... out of the ordinary. Assault courses, duels, grimm hunts..... nothing like this.' Saffron exclaimed as she set up in an offensive stance, bouncing on the balls of her armoured boots.
Looks like she got a bow a few sizes too big, I hope she can draw it, it's already an unfair fight with first year vs third year. Saffron thought to herself, wondering if it would seem sporting to try to assist her opponent or if it would be taken as bragging. Still part of her revelled not only in the fight to come but being the first time in a long time fighting someone who knows nothing about her going in.
'Good luck anyway, glory to the victor and all that.' Saffron continued cheerfully giving a large grin as she bashed her new sword, in it's greatsword form, against the shield as a show that Saffron is ready to begin.

Mauve resisted the urge to make a face at her weapon. A bow. Fantastic, seeing as her archery skill was nonexistant at best. And worst, because it was a scale of absolute zero to absolute zero. Sighing, she shifted it into its secondary form, a standard enough blade. It was longer than she was used to, but the width of her normal blades made the two weapons close enough in weight that it wouldn't take too long to get used to. As for the handle, she tossed it to her right, the bow and katana forms would be of no use to her. The blade she kept in her right, dominant hand, while in her left... a fire Dust arrow. Creativity. This'd be interesting.
Her opponent seemed to be quite happy with her weapons, a greatsword and circular shield. That could mean that she was a blade wielder normally, too bad Mauve didn't know what kind, that would've helped to even the odds that currently were not. Or perhaps she was a shield user. Or even a hand-to-hand combatant if you thought creatively. Perhaps one of those annoying all-around fighters, like Nathan. At worst Saffron could also utilize that particular combo normally too. 'Enough worrying.'
She gave her oppnent a small smile and a curt nod in return to her words. "Well, I'm hoping it doesn't come down to luck," Mauve responded smoothly. Still smiling softly, the girl twirled her blade around a few times, hoping to disguise the trick she'd learnt to get used to different weights faster as simply dallying around. As she finished, Mauve moved into a defensive position, waiting for Saffron to make the first move.

Seeing her opponent decide on using a single blade and an ... arrow Saffron decided to break down the great sword back into it's two one handed forms and putting the spare on her belt. Hoping to take the initiative Saffron quickly dashed forward, charging straight for Mauve. Six meters away Saffron spun and threw her shield hoping to upset Mauve's defence. It wasn't weighted to be thrown but didn't have to go far.
Drawing the second blade Saffron continued her for two quick slashes on Mauve's left side. More used to shorter weapons Saffron underestimated her reach hitting far further down the blade than that would be optimal.

Captain Vale much? Mauve quickly dodged right, then reached across to parry the slashes with less grace than she would've liked, missing the second slash and scraping the tip of the blunt 'blade' on the ground. She turned that particular mistake into her next move, leaning on it for partial support and throwing herself into a whirling kick aimed at Saffron's upper torso, finishing in a crouch and sweeping the weapon parallel to the ground.

Turning to be side on Saffron took the kicks on her shoulder, moved closer and stepped over the sweeping strike. Hilt striking with her left sword against Mauve's head, aiming to stun, and going for a stab with her right blade in Mauve's stomach, to collapse her guard. Pressing hard Saffron's close style of fighting wasn't suited to her longer swords and made her stabs lag a fair bit but also are harder to see coming.
Glad that the first year wasn't overwhelmed by the new weapons Saffron kept up a fast paced close quarter fighting style unsuited to either weapon set but she still had the most experience with it. Locking eyes with her opponent her nose flared and quills stiffened as Saffron prepared to react to any movement with all her senses; Faunus, aural and otherwise.

Mauve jerked to her left to evade the hilt strike, as she'd rather take damage than get stunned or distracted. She paid for this by slowing down her reaction time to Saffron's stab, which, though it didn't strike complete center, did make contact in her side. To minimize damage and time lost, Mauve twisted her body and advanced closer, utilizing her blade to deliver a hard strike to Saffron’s own, then delivering a frontal kick to Saffron's legs while simultaneously throwing the arrow forward at her face and detonating the Dust inside, hoping to catch the student off guard with two attacks at once. As to not get caught in the explosion herself, Mauve quickly retreated as fast as she could until she was a few feet away from Saffron.

Catching the kick on her blades Saffron slipped through the attack straight into the dust arrow but she didn't stop. Fusing the blades together back into it's greatsword form Saffron took advantage of the new space between them and her new reach for a series of heavy slashes.
Eyeing the shield behind Mauve Saffron hoped to push her opponent back until she could either reclaim the shield or use it for an unexpected trip.

Mauve mentally berated herself as she realized that Saffron was the one who would benefit from the distance as her weapon had more reach. She allowed herself to be forced back to evade the slashes from her opponent's greatsword, knowing that trying to parry or deflect the attack wasn't an option considering her lesser strength and smaller weapon. She was, however, still shallowly cut by the first slash, the girl was quick with blades. But that greatsword was undoubtedly less graceful. And Mauve was fast.
As soon as the second slash came down though, Mauve utilized the undoubtedly slower-even if just by a little-moves due to the weapon's form to dash in up close, where the greatsword would be more awkward to use. There, she swung around Saffron's right to deliver a hard thwack with the blunt blade, a kick to the back of her knee, and again with her blade on her opponent's left upper arm.
Positions now reversed, Mauve's eyes darted to the shield lying on the ground, now on her opponent's side as she'd switched places.

Zoning was something that Saffron had a lot of experience with, fighting against zoning to be specific. She understood in theory the aims and how to accomplish them; maintain distance within your reach but outside theirs and prevent them from crossing that danger zone. Easier said than done. Saffron thought to herself as Mauve transcended said danger zone with ease. Parrying her first strike Saffron rushed forward for a shoulder charge which Mauve slipping through. The additional forward momentum did cause her kick to miss but left Saffron open for Mauve's last strike.
Left with two options, Saffron could either maintain a style she wasn't quite confident with and was losing in or swap to one more along with her original talents. However deciding that the purpose of the training session was more to try new styles Saffron kept up the zoning. Not letting any time pass Saffron spun her greatsword for a wild overhead strike followed by shorter, more controlled attacks trying to prevent Mauve crossing her danger zone again.

Mauve easily evaded the first overhead strike, it being wild and an overhead strike, but it opened her up for some of Saffron's follow-ups. The girl was quick with her blades. But what about her feet? Mauve hadn't seen her use them at all during the battle, and suddenly her tactics changed. She had to get closer though, Saffron was wisely trying to keep her at a distance now.
Mauve quickly produced another fire Dust arrow from the quiver on her back, throwing it as best she could at Saffron's feet, though to be honest the trajectory wasn't the best, Mauve wasn't really planning on hitting anything with it, simply distracting her opponent for a few moments. If it caught something though, well, that wouldn't hurt either. She then met the next short strike with her own weapon and advanced forward, pushing the blade away and down with it. A quick aerial placed her to the side of Saffron, where Mauve spun to strike her again on the left upper arm then performed a high spinning hook kick to her upper chest and shoulder area.

Deflecting the arrow with her great sword Saffron again let Mauve get close and paid for it with another strike against her shoulder. Seeing her opponent leap into the air Saffron had time to prepare, half-swording her greatsword met the kick with her sword. Bracing her sword at the point of impact Saffron kept moving forward trusting the point into Mauve's still airborne form.
The closer, more brutal style of half-swording simply felt right than taking advantage of her weapon's reach. The fight still has a fair while to go so I can swap back if needs be. Saffron mused as she started to advance on her opponent, grinning at the new stage of their fight.

Mauve let out an annoyed noise as she was met with the point of Saffron's sword in the her upper left back. Aerial and acrobatic movements were so much easier with Grimm, the large yet usually slower creatures. Maybe lay off of that now, it was all about trying new styles, right? Move around but less flips and such.
As Mauve landed, she quickly spun clockwise and provided another kick, this time to the sword in the area in-between her hands with the new half-swording technique in an effort to knock away the blade again. The moment her right was on the floor, she kicked again with her left at Saffron's side before darting again behind her opponent to deliver another backhanded thwack with her blade to the girl's side/back.

The additional leverage from having her hands so far apart allowed Saffron to keep her guard close against Mauve's sharp kicks but even the additional manoeuvrability of wielding the greatsword like a quarterstaff doesn't negate the fact it is still a greatsword. Force Mauve to find space by going around her guard rather than through it was a good start and Saffron counted that as a success even as the pain from the strike bit. Turning to face Mauve, Saffron advanced unleashing a storm of quick, precise but short ranged hits by alternating between stabs and hilt bashes.
Saffron was feeling as alive as ever despite the pain; quills stiff, eyes wild and blood pumping. Everything in her roared to keep swinging and leave nothing left in her tank but she kept a lid on that for now. Instead trying enjoying the hard, odd fight to it's fullest.

Opposed to her opponent, Mauve was as calm and collected as she ever was. In a combat scenario. She deftly backed away to evade the strikes brought on by both ends of the greatsword. During that she also produced two more arrow from the quiver, one with ice Dust this time. In exchange for getting close to and touching the arrow to Saffron's blade, Mauve moved forward onto it as the other girl was making her third strike, letting it glance off of her ribcage. With her left hand, she threw one at Saffron while she just stabbed the other one down at the blade. Pick and choose darling.

Confident in her stamina Saffron pressed on with the assault despite her opponent's evasiveness. Pressing even harder when Mauve took an arm away from her defence to retrieve more arrows. Still Mauve's attack came on, recognising the ice dust from the similar tint to her own slugs, immediately went on the defensive as she didn't want to be locked down by ice. Flipping backwards to her discarded shield Saffron took the arrow aimed at her on the shield but was unable to get her greatsword out of the way in time. Now with both of her weapon's encased in ice Saffron set about breaking said ice, preferably with Mauve's face. Charging forward for a shield bash Saffron was quickly back into the fray.

Mauve easily dodged the shield bash considering the weapons were heavier and bulkier than normal. It was though, quite interesting that her opponent had picked up the shield. That would make things harder for Mauve, shields were trickier to get around despite their large size. Well, more like ecause of their large size. At least that greatsword was back in one hand.
Following her dodge, Mauve only stood her ground, welcoming another attack. She couldnt do too much on the offensive if her opponent both had more strength and a shield, the damned things. But of course hit and run was her preferred style anyway.

Snaping the greatsword down into it's two one hand forms Saffron holsted one while trying to scrap some of the ice off her weapons as she made her way over to her evasive opponent. Exaggerating her work to try to bait a strike Saffron approached with apparent disregard for either her opponent or her safety. Regardless if Mauve fell for the ruse or not Saffron will return to her steady frontal attack pattern hammering away at Mauve's defences. Although visually more similar to her standard weapons than the greatsword the principles of sword and board weren't resulting in Saffron over reaching most of her attacks and letting her shield lag low as she attacked.

Mauve didn't flinch at Saffron's little bait, fully expecting the sudden continuation of quick strikes. Seeing her opponent's shield lag low during this, Mauve dashed in through Saffron's guard once again, taking the entirety of one of the girl's strikes on her shoulder while she used her blunt weapon to strike hard at Saffron's shield arm and a frontal kick with her opposite leg at her opponent's torso. This, however, slowed the 'run' part of her style, leaving her in very close proximity to Saffron for a few moments too long.

Grunting loudly at Mauve's volley of attacks Saffron struggled to maintain her footing. Seeing an opportunity to get off her feet and restrict her opponents manoeuvrability even more Saffron grabbed tight at Mauve's leg before she could retract it and pulled Mauve in for a tackle. Mauve took the tackle with a soft 'oomph' and grace-well, as much grace as you can have being tackled. Not good, not good. The absolute worst thing for her would be to be pinned down like this. Also a bunch of pointy pieces of arrows weren't the best cushion. Usually her semblance would've been her way out, but that wasn't an option now. Mauve raised her arm, preferring for it to be hit rather than her torso or god forbid her face. Aura existed, yes, but still. Moneymaker.
Seeing the sword lying on the ground next to Saffron, Mauve grabbed it and thrusted the edge into her opponent's thigh, then letting go of the weapon for the sake of fair play and letting a newly-formed fire Dust arrow join the sword in Saffron's side. Hoping that it would weaken the upperclassman enough, Mauve shoved her leg up and away. If she succeeds, Mauve will scurry away and get back on her feet, determined to not let that happen to her again.
So, so sorry! I was actually wondering because I didn't see your post and when I checked app. I was the one actually holding it up. Apologies!

Deflecting the sword swing Saffron put herself off balance allowing Mauve to shake off her mount with the fire arrow. Not being able to hold the grapple as long as she would have liked Saffron is slow to her feet and reclaims the sword her opponent and tried to hit her with. Nodding in appreciation for the show of sportsmanship Saffron advances slowly, with better placement of the shield this time.
With a burst of speed Saffron feints low then spins for a downward slash followed by a quick shield bash. Knowing that she has lost much of the initiative in the wake of the failed grapple Saffron will try to recapture her forward momentum regardless of Mauve's actions.

Still a bit on edge after the grapple, Mauve quite stupidly fell for the feint, receiving the brunt of her opponent's slash using the sword. She was not quite so slow for the shield bash though, scooting back just enough for her to both stay out of the attack's range and take advantage of the shield's position. Mauve held to the top of it with one hand while her blade hand attempts to knock the sword away so she can she use the shield as a temporary brace to slam both of her feet into Saffron's chest.
Instead of once again falling back and waiting for Saffron to make a move that she could hopefully surpass after probably taking some damage like the rest of the fight had been, Mauve continued on the offense, switching the hand her weapon was in to jab the butt of it into Saffron's forearm, then jab the tip into her opposite shoulder.

Saffron's grin at Mauve finally going on the offensive was short lived as her opponent stomped both her feet into Saffron's chest, knocking the air straight out of her lungs. Experience and instinct more than conscious thought helped her stabilise, taking short breaths which wouldn't weaken her guard as much as the large gulps her body was screaming for. Knowing that Mauve would likely be able to get around her shield work Saffron instead held the shield loosely by her side and relied mostly on her sword as a guard. This doesn't mean the shield was useless however, simply more of an active defence rather than a passive one, intercepting strikes like Mauve's first jab and giving Saffron attack vectors which she exploits with ruthless precision.
Now that they had well and truly locked swords and where in such close quarters Saffron attempted to maximse the advantage that provides. Namely how some of her body, her legs, are out of Mauve's vision so closed together. Starting with another feint, this time with her shield, Saffron aimed to stomp her opponent's knee. Aiming to buckle the joint and take full advantage of her superior height Saffron presses on hard and fast.

Saffron struck quick, but Mauve was no slowpoke. She dodged it with ease, not noticing that it was not the main focus of her opponent. Letting out a huff of air as her knee did indeed buckle, Mauve fell to the ground as per the other student's plan.
She didn't stay there though. Mauve dashed between Saffron's legs, hooking one of them with her own and pulling in the act of getting up from the ground. Now behind her, Mauve elbowed the girl in the back of her neck and stabbed her with the tip of the blunt weapon in her back. While she was still turned and perhaps falling if all went according to plan, or even perhaps if it didn't and Saffron was turning to face her, either worked, Mauve formed a fire Dust arrow and threw it at her.

Tracking her opponent closely Saffron managed to follow Mauve's movements and as such deflect Mauve's first strike with her shield. Turning side on Saffron traded blow for blow allowing her opponent's strike to hit home while exploiting Mauve's outward stance for an attack of her own. This gambit didn't pay off as it left her open for fire dust arrow and Saffron stumbled backwards as the heat radiated around her. Choking back a cry Saffron sort to use the resulting flames to her advantage, again throwing her shield through the inferno hoping to catch her opponent off guard.
Still wielding her sword in one hand Saffron will leap forward regardless using her free hand to wrench Mauve's guard open and deliver another stab. Breathing hard Saffron knew she had just likely lost control of the momentum of the battle because of one mistake and was determined to win it back. Old lessons came flooding back into her mind, she may have lost that skirmish but this fight would be hers.

This was actually turning out to be a pretty fun sparring session, whether or not Mauve turned out to be the winner in the end.
Mauve raised her hand to catch the thrown shield, discovering that it was in fact not as easy on the hand as in the movies, not unless you were Captain Vale or something. The strike Saffron'd snuck in didn't really help that either. Nevertheless, it was caught and Mauve used it to block Saffron's stab, then attempt to hit her in the face with the edge of it. Once again for honorable play and the point of the actual spar's sake, Mauve lightly backed away and threw it back at Saffron, aiming at her torso for both easier catching and some additional damage if it hit.
In the meanwhile, she advanced as lightly as she'd done the opposite, not liking to be far enough that her opponent had the reach advantage.

Taking a slight backward step to stabilise herself Saffron gave her opponent the opening to return the shield to sender by throwing the shield back. Saffron's vision temporally blurred because of the temple hit but her other sense were as sharp as ever. Letting off for a few seconds Saffron grinned widely at her opponent and asked breathlessly. 'You have Ultimate Frisbee in Vale? Think you might have some natural ability for it.'

Mauve grinned softly at her opponent's good-natured quip, though she was a bit preoccupied with evading the slashes to reply with one of her own. Which was a pity, lost opportunities to be quippy always were in her ever so humble opinion. Last slash deflected via blade, though it did leave her open for a bit too long, Mauve pressed on with more footwork, lightly advancing forward whether or not Saffron took the opportunity herself and delivering several light kicks to the upperclassman's lower legs, specifically the feet and shins.
During that, Mauve gripped her blade in both hands, one on each side. At first this was simply to put something between her and the pesky shield that could be used to slam into her any second. Then, grip staying the same, she slammed the weapon into Saffron's shield to draw attention upwards while she delivered a more powerful kick to her legs.

Not going to let an opportunity like busting through Mauve's defences slip by without at least attempting to capitalise Saffron snaked in a fourth slash hopefully before her opponent could close the gap. Her forward momentum did leave her legs as open targets for Mauve's kicks and again Saffron felt herself struggle to hold up her own weight and question the wisdom of her heavy armour. Cocking her head in surprise at her opponents opponent's new strategy Saffron met the slam with her shield leaving both students locked together and Saffron herself's vision blocked.
Luckily for the Atlas student however years of fighting in close quarters had honed her fighting senses to a razor edge and managed to immediately pick up Mauve's plan for subtle shifts in her shoulders and posture. Stepping wide and angling her shield to push Mauve's sword up and away Saffron managed to avoid her opponent's kick and hopefully open her defences enough for a precise stab aimed at Mauve's jugular. Regardless Saffron will finish her combo by stepping away, spinning her sword almost 360 degrees for a heavy slam against Mauve's head. Emphasis on slam as Saffron's unfamiliarity with swords resulting in hitting the Beacon student with the flat of her blade rather than the edge.

Getting stabbed was not fun, something that Mauve could confirm with even more fervor now. Though she did move a bit so the stab landed on her collarbone more than her throat-getting stabbed in the throat was even less fun-it didn't do much else than displace the attack and the next, letting her get slapped more in the jaw. Still not fun. She was lucky the edge was turned away though, for that didn't just lessen the damage to her aura, but made it easier for her to clasp the blade in-between her wrist and lower palm, then violently throw it back at Saffron's upper torso, hoping her surprise and admittedly lesser strength than her opponent could make it stick.
Fully recovered, Mauve pressed on once more. She stepped in close to her opponent and sort of threw herself onto the shield, grasping the edges and leaning her weight on the thing so each foot could deliver a stomp to Saffron's upper body. Quickly because however strong the uppperclassman might've been, having the weight of a whole person plus a shield isn't the easiest thing to carry on one arm. As per the hit-and-run she favored, Mauve dropped to the floor, lightly kicking Saffron's shins as she did so, and did a backwards somersault, ending in a low stance slightly reminiscent of a runner's starting one.

Taking a few steps back to absorb Mauve's first unexpected, and unconventional, counter attack Saffron put her shield up and advanced again. This appeared unnecessary as Mauve continued her assault leaping on Saffron's shield. Originally deciding to saving the dust functions of her new weapons for the end of the fight the Atlas Student decided this opportunity was too good to pass up. Swapping the curvature of her shield Saffron otherwise braced her shield arm on her body and almost knelt to support her opponent's stomp. This left Saffron an easy target but it also let her find out Mauve's timing. Just as she felt her opponent press down harder to jump off Saffron activating a pulse of electrical dust through the shield and hopefully through Mauve's hands.
The pulse of electricity was hardly pleasant for the faunus, her highly sensitive nose was overwhelmed by the current as it arced off the shield causing Saffron the scrunch her face up as if she had just taken a huge wiff of something, not necessarily unpleasant as even overpowering pleasant smells are still well overwhelming. This didn't pause Saffron's assault however as she was expecting, not that it was something she would ever get used to, and let loose a quick volley of attacks to take advantage of Mauve's hopefully stunned condition.
Quick stabs and shield bashes was all Saffron was willing to risk her given how unsteady her legs are given Mauve's punishment. Regardless of the success of the electrical blast and her volley of attacks Saffron would keep up the assault. With her nose joining her legs in the heavily damaged department Saffron needed to finish the fight as quickly as possible. Although Saffron didn't immediately notice it her nose quickly blocked up to protect itself from any further abuse but also cutting off some of her elecro-sensors. As well, a small trickle of blood started to flow out of Saffron's nose.
Saffron's Battle Data 2x3% Shield bashes 2x4% Quick slashes
Aura: 31%(Took both stomps)

Mauve would do well to remember that Beacon students were oh so fond of making their weapons nice and fancy. Electrical shields? Just another Monday. The clever little move opened her up for Saffron to go to town on, Mauve taking both of the shield bashes and all of the slashes, though the latter she partially deflected. With her own arms, yes, but it did ease some of the damage. This fight was going to draw to a close soon and to be honest it'd been fun, so Mauve really didn't care whether or not she won. Well, not as much as she would usually at least.
Right off the bat Mauve noticed two prime targets, the first being Saffron's nose and the second being her legs. Her concentrated attacks on the latter seemed to have been successful, though she wasn't quite sure why the other student's nose had started bleeded. She didn't exactly remember directing any of her attacks at her face. Deciding the why was currently irrelevant and she shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, Mauve resumed her attack. She kicked twice at Saffron's shins, light, really only meant to test exactly how vulnerable they were. In the meanwhile, her arms were up in front guarding her face and she stayed light on her toes, retreating slightly afterwards in the manner of a boxer.
Once she was confident in her ability to deliver Mauve neared the student again, though instead of kicking she actually just punched Saffron in the face. That was followed by a hard kick to the upperclassman's lower shin/ankle area. Granted, this left her fairly open with one of her hands and legs occupied momentarily, but chances had to be taken.
Aura 19% (slashes were kinda deflected but with her forearm) Light shin kicks: 2-3% x 2 Punch in the face: 4% Hard kick: 5%

The heavy weight in her head and blocked nose quickly became apparent to Saffron as Mauve started to recover from her stun. Wiping her nose with the back of hand Saffron's eyes widened as it came away red. Trying to hide her shock by positioning her guard higher Saffron left herself open for her opponent's light kicks. She remained standing but found her legs leadened by the assault, unresponsive, causing her to swipe at thin air with her sword as Mauve darted back. Breathing hard Saffron tried to get her legs to move but it was like they were glued to the floor. So focused on trying to get her lower body functioning again that Saffron almost didn't notice Mauve dart back in, only able to defend against punch as she caught it on her now un-electrified shield.
Gritting her teeth Saffron almost thanked the numbness in her legs as it shielded her from the undoubtedly sharp blast from such a savage kick. Simultaneously igniting the fire dust in both her shield and sword Saffron hoped to burn Mauve's fist against the shield as well as adding some extra bite as her sword smashed down into Mauve's outstretched leg and again into her stomach. Literally unable to disengage Saffron took the route available to her and simply kept swinging, like her training had drilled in, regardless of the agony her body was in.

Mauve let out a sharp sound of surprise as her fist didn't connect with a face as expected, but with cold, hard metal. On fire. Thank god for Aura, but still. That hurt. She still saw Saffron draw her blade though, and was quick enough to move and transfer the damage onto her forearm instead of her leg, possibly increasing it through the pushing motion. She was ready for the stab when it came, raising her legs to repeatedly kick the blade back towards Saffron instead of her and hoping that it made contact with the other student.
She'd retreated and was about to start attacking again when Mauve came to a realization about how low her Aura was and decided she'd rather be safe than sorry. They were fighting with fire and blades and explosive arrows, which would be very harmful and potentially lethal to someone with no Aura. "I yield," she said to Saffron, relaxing her pose into a normal stance instead of an 'I'm about to cause you harm' one. "My Aura's pretty low right now and I don't want to risk you or myself crossing the line of Aura loss without the other noticing or while the other can't react fast enough." She smiled. "It was an enjoyable fight, my thanks to you for that. Nice to know I can hold my own against an upperclassman, even if there's only a year's difference between us." In a show of good sport, because Mauve was nothing if not that, she held out her hand for Saffron to shake.
Aura 12% If the blade is kicked back enough to do damage then you go ahead and decide percentages yourself. Good fight!

'You did more than hold your own, a few more hits and I would have been the one yielding.' Saffron replied grinning as she deactivated the flames around her weapons, sheathing the sword and taking Mauve's hand. 'I don't think we ever exchanged names, mines Saffron and yes it was a very enjoyable fight, what's not going to be enjoyable is the instructors going over my swordplay.' Managing to get some movement in her legs Saffron collected her loaned weapons.
Limping off to the benches Saffron turned back to her opponent and continued. 'If you have somewhere else to be I understand but the Atlas delegation brought some masseurs to help with recovery because we have exams not long after we get back. If I want to be able to walk tomorrow I'm going to have to visit them soon and I have no real interest in watching the fights still going. I'm sure they would let me bring a plus one so would you like to join me?'
I'm glad you had fun, we should do it again some time.

Mauve smiled at the older girl. "I very much appreciate the honor and would be honored to join you. Thanks." She walked a few paces to pick up the weapon she'd discarded before continuing to speak to Saffron. "To be honest I'm not much for watching duels or sparring either. Even Vytal ones, I find them a bit dull. Not much for the idea of watching fights for sport, though I have nothing against doing so for educational reasons. Similarly with participating for those same reasons."
As she exited the arena with Saffron, Mauve remembered something the student had said during the offer. "Atlas you say? You'll have to catch me up, it's been a while since I've been there."

Pausing for a few seconds after Mauve finished her response in case she was going to add in her name, even Saffron's smile faltered a bit before returning to it's ordinary lustre. Maybe it's a cultural thing. Saffron thought as she mentally shrugged and returned to the conversation at hand. 'Fighting for sport has always been looked a bit down on in Atlas, seen as nonprofessional which is kinda ironic considering how much a deal is made out of these extra-kingdom sparring matches. Actually that's not 100% true there are duelling circuits but they are as disconnect to actually fighting as any other contact sport. Personally I'm ambivalent, I've had to watch so many to learn new styles I can't really enjoy the spectacle of it.' Saffron answered as she placed the borrowed weapons on a bench before they walked out.
Saffron was cautious about answering general questions about her second home, aware of it's negative reputation she scratched her scalp nervously while responding. 'Well that depends on when you where last there, likely it hasn't changed much. The academy got a new wing recently but nothing big. But the city as a whole just keeps better bigger. Why were you there last? If you don't mind me asking.' Saffron hastened to add.
Making their way out of the hall and towards where the Atlas contingent had set up Saffron's stride had rounded out by the time some of the instructors looked her over. A wordless exchange got both girls through and Saffron started peeling off the heavy metal plates of her armour. 'What about Vale? Should I see anything while I'm here?' Saffron asked as she turned back around.
