Teams / Re: Looking for a 1st year Beacon team
« on: May 05, 2020, 09:18:19 AM »
It looks like NerdLetter is currently (like sadly most of the forum) inactive, so that team would probably not hold out for long. Arcano is still searching and if Arcus is still on it we could at least form a team of three for now. But I really can't tell you how long it will take for that spot to fill up, as I said, the forum is pretty dead right now.

"I'm good too" replied Arcano as he follows behind Ashlee to Lucas. He had packed more than enough dust spools, those things rune out like hell, after all, and he hadn't had the need to use them so far anyway. With a look into the distance, he started to shift uncomfortably on his legs. He wasn't necessarily an impatient person, he just wanted to make sure those woodworkers were okay and not knowing for sure made his stomach sink. No, it was too soon to start panicking now. He has to focus!

He swallowed and spoke up again, "Can you ask Jet if he sees like- another group of Grimm in our- uh- immediate path?" he asks Lucas, pressing his index fingers together and avoiding eye contact. Arcano could just as good ask for it himself, their all got Jet's contact, right? And the huntsmen should know better not to warn the group if he sees anything, so the question was even more needless. Realizing this, he tries to quickly brush it off, "Like, you know- Uhm- Time and- uh- I mean- uh.."  Emphasis on tries. Jep, he's really bad at this.

He never finished his sentence, instead, he just turns to the nearest tree and puts his head against its trunk, his back facing the group, hoping he could just turn invisible then and there. Well, he could, but he knows better than to waste a shot of his semblance now.

Mikado sighed quietly and rests his head on his hand. Whatever the reason for her sudden departure, it had to be convincing enough that even Bacon staff didn't want to tell us anything more specific about it. The waitress eventually came back, after all, they didn't allow anyone to use their air conditioner without ordering anything, so Mikado quickly ordered a glass of water before turning to his teammate again, "I don't suppose you know anything about the new team member? All I heard was that he was male, but that's about it. No name no nothing."

Frankly, Mikado was running out of topics. Even an idiot knew he was a man of few words, and that day alone he must have exceeded his word limit three times over. The situation was almost uncomfortable, but at the same time, it was not. The last time he had a real 'conversation' with someone was with Jack, and those were completely other circumstances. Smokey was also the last person he thought he could have a conversation with.

Arcano would have liked to gainsaid Lucas but lacked not only the assertiveness but also the eloquence he needed to prove his point. The last thing he wanted was to get the team in unnecessary danger that they could not make it out of, but for him, it made more sense to send one ahead, one of which would not necessarily attract the attention of any more Grimm on the way.
He did not have time to think about a possible argument anyway, as the two Boarbatusks tore from the bushes and snapped him out of his thoughts. The bullets stunned the Grimm conveniently, but it was not enough to actually kill them. They were pretty much under him, and the temporal paralysis gave him the perfect opportunity to land a finishing blow.

Since he was stuck here until the danger is overcome, he can as well make himself useful for a change. He released his grip from the tree and let himself drop from above onto the two boarbatusks. Both of his gauntlets' front blades were extended to their full capacity and aimed straight for the spot of black fur between the armor plates of the boar. The plan was to swiftly kill the first on landing and then jump imminently to the other one to repeat the process. If this simple yet effective plan works out, he would then approach the Grimm in case Ashlee had to be quickly pulled out of there and glanced briefly over his shoulder to see if Fallow was nearby.

Arcano made up most of the distance he had fallen behind. Well, he had just caught up to the lamp and was now heading straight for Lucas and Ashlee. He could hear the distant sounds of battle that came from his scroll. It was a blessing that he was brought back into the ball and this time, he stayed in it, albeit muted. Ashlee did not seem to have too much trouble with the Beowolves, as she apparently took down the first few without much effort. Nevertheless, Arcano speeds up a bit more and soon found himself in the open field.

He didn't jump directly into the open and initially waited in the hiding shadows of the treetops and examined his surroundings. After a few moments of waiting, he pulled the threads of his one spool nack in order to allow himself a bit more movement, in case he had to step into the fight. If Fellow hadn't spotted it by now, he probably wouldn't do so if he waited a bit longer. For now, however, he stayed out of the fight. Firstly, because he wanted to head to the lumberyard imminently and secondly because more people can attract further Grimm more easily.

He went through his options a few times, unmuted himself and said, "Lucas- uh- can you tell me the route Jet gave you? I want- I'll advance forward."
Arcano couldn't deny that he will be worried when he leaves the rest and doesn't help them against the Grimm, but he saw more opportunities when he moves on. Ashlee should be able to handle herself. She already killed five of them, though it cost her a fourth of her Aura. Fallow was somewhere behind him in case anything else fails. And then there was Lucas. Arcano could not say where he was right now, but he doubted that he was too far away. He at least could see the Grimm from his position.

"I- am inconspicuous. I can get to the lumber workers without attracting the attention of more Grimm." He added as he slowly moved along in the darkness of the forest edge. It was definitely better than sitting around here, knowing that there is a Beringel approaching a group of civilians who could not protect themselves against this kind of danger.

"Nothing important" Mikado replied and rests his head on his hand. He didn't want anyone to poke around his past, so he didn't poke around theirs. It's only fair. The stuff he knew about the former sniper of the team were less important things like her favorite color or the fact that she has a good bond to animals. Nothing that could provide any kind of answer. One day she just got up and left.

It would be a lie to say that it did not bother him at least a bit, that she just went without a word. Their conversations were brief, but she could have at least say something like a farewell. But the reaction of his teammate showed that Smokey did not know much either. "Why do you think she didn't tell us anything?" Mikado asked, even though he would rather avoid talking about this subject. Maybe it will at least clarify some of his questions, though he doubts that. Honestly, it probably made the most sense for Serin to have all the answers since he is A, the team leader, and if Beacon would talk about it with someone, it would be him, and B, they seemed to understand each other the best from the group. On that fateful day when Billy screamed her confession to Smokey into her bag, Mikado was behind just far enough to miss the words she said, also, he didn't really care. So the idea that Smokey could know more about it did not cross his mind. "It must have been important if it made her leave Beacon without saying a word."

"You mean one of those combat schools?" Mikado asked as he follows Smokey inside the way too overcrowded café, "Even the close ones were too far away and not worth the trip. Jack had everything he needed to train me and the forest was good to practice fighting against Grimm. So I take it you went to one?"
It's true that Jack didn't have had any experience with teaching someone the ways to handle a weapon or fighting the beats of darkness, but he damn sure tried. His dexterity came most likely from the amount of time they had. Sparring or fighting against beowolves made up most of his day and unless he found an interesting book to read, Mikado was out training with Kiro. Speaking of which, The small dragon flapped his wings and left his owner's shoulder to avoid the shoving of the crowd underneath him. Probably not the worst thing, given the no pets allowed sign at the door.

By now, Mikado managed to somehow get past all the people standing in the entrance and imminently got met by a waitress, who almost crashed right into him as she rushed between kitchen and customer. She muttered a quick apology and told the two huntsmen in training to wait for a moment and that she would be there in a second. The second wasn't an understatement as she came back as fast as she left and looked them over. "Just the two of you? Please follow me, I believe we have a free table somewhere around- aha! Here." The young waitress led the two to a table semi-near the windows and provided them with the menu card before turning around and hurrying to the next table to take their orders. Mikado looked after her, darting a quick glance at the grey wolf tail.
"What do you think Billy is doing now?" he asks slowly and takes a seat. Billy's departure from the team came sudden and with little to no explanation, at least to him. There also wasn't anything on who her replacement is supposed to be. To be honest, he doesn't even want to know.

Arcano was honestly surprised to see that he was not at the rear of the group despite trying to fall back. He looked over his shoulder, where Fellow was supposed to be and then paused for a moment. His threads being connected with the thick branches above him while he brought his free arm to his mouth. So it has been useful after all to attach a holder for his scroll to his gauntlets. "I-Uhm- I can wait for a mo- moment," he offered to their lost team member. They couldn't have lost sight of each other for too long. Then again, Arcano also tried not to be seen.

Arcano glanced over his shoulder again and noticed the white light in the distance slowly fading away. He couldn't risk falling behind too much. He swallowed hard and slowly raised his voice again, "You said there are 15?" He asked, trying to suppress the quaver in his voice, 'Come on, you can do it! They're only humans!'

"Uhm- 15 is not much- you can go ahead, you're the fastest. -I can wait in-between you two- and Fellow, so he finds the way-after he's done-or- so- I mean, can you take all of them?I can help but-" Arcano didn't just stop talking, no, he disconnected himself off completely and stared at his screen, as it displays with bold red letters the words, 'call ended.'

"Gahh,""  he groaned and hung his head. Why couldn't he just mute himself? His hand moved hesitantly over the button to join the call again, but he let his hand fall in defeat. So much for being serious. Well, he could not sink any lower now, so he picked up his speed again, this time using only one arm, as the threads on the spool of the other gauntlet never left the branch to which they were attached and continued to pull out longer and longer. With a bit of luck, Fellow will see the hair-thin threads and would be able to follow them. For now, Arcano had to focus on not losing sight of the light.

Well, I have Arcano, an anxious peacock Faunus who focuses on stealth and close combat. He (probably) would make a good leader, given the chance that he manages to say a comprehensible sentence in one go. but he can also be the one that takes orders.

After the first fright, the failed proper introduction, and the near heart attack he got when the last team member fell from the sky, Arcano was, to put it frankly, dying inside. He slowly eyed everyone up as he tipped in the others' ID in his scroll and sent a confirmation request. Well, no one here looked unfriendly and there was no reason why he should keep back, but he rather didn't have the uneasy feeling in his stomach every time he approaches one of them. Therefore, he would also make up the group's rear as everyone began to storm after Lucas.

With his threads, he could easily keep up with the others, but he still preferred to stay a little further back, just close enough that they would not lose sight of each other in all the scrub. Lucas was right, even though he knew it already, this was a real mission with real life on the stake. He couldn't afford to make a mistake, and he wouldn't. Despite his hesitant and timid appearance, his eyes radiated determination. A determination to protect these people, no matter the cost. The biggest problem later could be the amount of Grimm. And he doesn't mean the Grimm in only one place. They knew about three groups that potentially could use help- Even though Jet said his group did not need any assistance, there was still the mining outpost left. If anything goes down they would have to split up. Arcano quickly dismissed the idea.  There's enough time to think about it when the time comes, now it's time to concentrate on the task before him, and that's to get to the lumberyard before the Ringing did.

Hm, out of my characters I think only Arcano really fits. He struggles with abandonment-and social anxiety issues

Mikado shot a glance at Smokey at his remark. It had been him who was asking Mikado to come with him and meant that he 'wanted to talk'. There was nothing to get worked up about though, he was not in the mood for it and on the other hand, there was one thing that bothered him even more right now and this was the sun and heat that, especially after Kiro shifted from his head to his shoulder and no longer served as a sun visor, beamed right in the face. He recalled some people talking about a café nearby. Mainly, they raved about the high-tech air conditioner there. So without saying anything, Mikado began to turn at the corners and streets to where he believed he had heard the café was. At least his orientation was as reliable as it could be.

"So, money huh. Don't hear that often," Replied Mikado. He had by no means asked enough people to know what one can call often. Heck, Smokey was the first person he's been asking since he had arrived in Beacon. One could overhear one or another conversation in the hallways or the classroom, 'Glory and honor,' 'Continue family traditions,' 'The thrill of killing Grimm' and more. Not that his motivation was much more creative or special.

"His name is Jack. Waning to becoming Huntsmen was my idea, but he helped me a lot with training and everything. Might not have made it here without him," Mikado said monotonously, looking up slightly as he spotted a rather large crowd in the distant. Most sat outside, but you could see the tables inside filled as well. The crowd was large, but the building was larger, and they would certainly still have a table in the cool interior. It wouldn't hurt to try it. He looked from the café to Smokey and without needing an answered asked, "We going in?"

Arcano fumbled uncomfortably with his scroll as he wiped between the various pieces of information. Three groups needed help. Three groups who they know of that need help.
Arcano had left in a hurry. He didn't have much time to prepare for this mission and in all the stress he didn't have the time to check if there was any information about the rest of the team.

The Bullhead's door opened and with the big thrust of wind that hit his face, he turned his attention to the forest below him. He would have to meet the team sooner or later anyway. Not that this realization took the uneasy feeling in his stomach, but it helped him jump out of the flying ship without further thought, heading straight for the trees beneath him.

He let himself fall for a moment, trying to explore the area from the air to the best of his abilities and as he slowly approached the treetops, he stretched his arm forward. Five barely recognizable threads connetcted  with one of the top branches and let him swing out all the momentum as he approches a lower branch, connecting another five strings with it while releasing the five before. He repeated this process one more time, continuing to avoid any opportunity of crushing face first into on of the branches or trunks, until he was low enough to simply jump the last distance. To hin unfortunate realization, he found himself right between two of his, assumed, teammates. With eyes widened in shock and embarrassment he looked between the two humans before stepping back cautiously.

"Uhm- Uh. Hi -Uh." He stopped as his back made contact with the trunk behind him and he looked quickly into the distance to avoid eye contact, "My name is Arcano, Uh-Bladwin, I mean Blar,- It's Arcano Blar Baldwin, But- Uh- Arcano is fine! I Uh-" the rest turned into an inaudible mumbling till he completely fell silent. His eyes now fixated on the ground as if something great is going to happen when he stares at this intensivly long enough.

'Kay, four is a good number. I'm going ahead and make a group for planning and stuff in discord.

"And how long do you think it would have worked until I wanted to change again?" Mikado replied plainly. There would most likely always be someone in the team he would not get along with. Besides Smokey, there wasn't anyone on the team he was on bad terms with. Serin and Billy left him alone most of the time, and in the moments when they did something together, which only consisted of group activities with the entire team, they were on neutral terms. It was also wrong to say that he loathes Smokey, they simply don't stand the other person's personality. There wasn't an overly hostile antipathy. Besides, a team change was too much work just to get away from one person. Well, currently one person. They were still one member short and he had no info about Billy's replacement.

"And I chose Beacon because a- acquaintance- trained here." Jack was more of a mentor who took him in after his life went south than an acquaintance. He even was something like his second father. "And it was the closest," Mikado added, before remembering that he had never told Smokey where he'd come from or the rest of his team at that. Smokey also told him something from his past, guess he can return the favor, "I'm from the southern part of Sanus, Southeast to be exact. My options were pretty much Beacon and Shade." No need to drop names of already destroyed or abandoned settlements.

"And why do you want to become a Huntsman? People don't do this training and risk their lives on the field for nothing."
