"Of course! It's right over here." Oliver lurched back to his area and began quickly rearranging the parts to give a better idea of the assembled weapon. "My Vel isn't too complex, but it works fine for me. It starts in this spear form. Nothing too fancy, but this trigger here," he pointed out a small silver lever loosely fitted higher on the shaft, "sends a blast from the base which helps when throwing it."
Oliver's hand traced a seam along the shaft between the tip and the trigger as he continued, finding the right angle to pull at. "For its second mode, this section of the shaft splits in two and folds up to form a new prong on either side." He demonstrated this, leaving a thin rod where the prongs were stored and sliding the newly formed trident head down to meet the (now slightly shorter) shaft. "This form doesn't fly well, but I like it better for close-range."
"Finally, we have the biggest change." Oliver began folding the prongs over, carefully guiding the central prong down into the shaft. "This is usually more impressive," he said with a nervous chuckle, "but since it's in pieces I have to do it manually." With one last flip of a cover to keep the prongs from its user's shoulder, the weapon entered its third form. "It's a shotgun! This form took a bit to figure out, but I've had no problems since. It fires shot by default, but I like to use dust slugs every now and then. I've only tried two kinds, though..." Oliver trailed off, staring at Vel's barrel. Maybe some kind of electric dust would work? he thought to himself. No, no, it'd probably just zap me the second I pulled the trigger.
Well, it's something to think about. Turning back to face Setsuna, he readjusted his glasses with a quick flick of the wrist. "That's the long and short of it, really. It's been a bit since I gave her a real deep cleaning, so I decided to get it done right." He gestured to the pile of metal in Setsuna's area. "How about you? Seems like a lot for simple repairs or maintenance."
