"Assholes." Malina muttered under her breath as she stepped out on the field, hearing the soft crunch of snow beneath her boot. Looking around, she spotted a few of the defunct knights that the announcer had mentioned laying in the snow, mostly face down. It would do Malina good to stay away from those.
Glancing forward, Malina took in what she could of her opponent from this distance. A light outfit colored similarly enough to the buildings that it would be a problem if she tried to hide, a hefty looking gun of some sort, not much else. While Malina watched, her opponent waved her hand and sent out a set of small planes. Interesting. It wasn't hard to figure that her opponent could send out planes with her semblance. What they could do was another story. She was sure she'd find out eventually though.
Information was key in these sort of fights, if you knew more about your opponent than they did of you, you were already at an advantage. It stands to reason that misinformation was just as important then. Both of those points would be important in this fight. Malina wasn't great with or against long ranged opponents and she knew it. The best pla could be to get close and beat them down. Malina's opponent was clearly heavily focused with ranged attacking, though she might have a melee weapon, and seemed like they could reach the entire stage with their semblance's range, just judging by the fact that she had sent out the planes. She'd have to keep an eye on them, being ready to defend herself as soon as she saw them take any action toward her. For now, though, she could prepare her side.
Her staff had already been loaded with kinetic and ice dust, it usually was. The pair was an easy choice, combining mobility on her side with demobilising the enemy. She reached into her left satchel as she watched the planes approach. After running her fingers along several of th containers, she popped out on with a flame etched into the stopper and opened it.
Malina could feel her semblance becoming infused with fire dust. It was a strange sensation, sort of like tasting something mildly spicy but over your entire body. At the same time, the chamber in her stinger spun a full rotation before landing on one of the empty slots. It wasn't something she needed to do, but it was nice to loosen everything up at the start of the fight.
She glanced to her left toward one of the closer knights and stretched out her arm with an open palm. A blast of flame slammed into knight, 5 meters away. The resulting explosion melted and knocked away the surrounding snow, in addition to hiding the concussive force behind the flames. About 7 feet. Good to know.
Malina turned her attention back to Siu and the planes, which grew nearer by the second. She had as much info as she could get and the misinfo had, hopefully, gotten across. She lifted her staff and leveled the head toward her opponent. Within a moment, an ice spike formed and was shot outward, flying vaguely toward Siu's chest. As soon as the spike left her staff, she looked up toward the planes. Manticore, which had been laying flat against the snow before now, lifted up and shot three pins toward the lead plane.
