Introductions, birthdays, and departures. / It's About Time
« on: October 21, 2017, 10:40:15 AM »
Alright so I've kind of dropped off the face of the earth the past month. Though y'know, posting's been kind of slow lately anyways all around. This year's been pretty tough so far, just got the Viet version of report cards out, and we're having mid terms soon, then finals/exams/i'm actually not sure what they are... then I have studying for if I want to catch up with US education and shit, plus extracurriculars and for that stupid, stupid, stupid school that I really want to get into. Point is I'm pretty busy. Also I've found that lately, posting's been more of a chore than it was fun, so uh, yeah. Even if I can squeeze in time, it just seems like an effort to post, and admittedly I've been neglecting posting in favor of more enjoyable things to wind down.

Gonna be on indefinite hiatus, friends. Don't wait up for me, replace my characters, the only reason that I'm naming this an indefinite hiatus instead of a departure is because who knows, I may feel sad one day and decide 'hey, whatever happened to that one site that I liked to write on,' and jump back in. Or more probably, just get over my whiny self because I'm fickle as fuck. It's been fun. I'll probably??? still be on Discord so just hit me up on there. If you'd like to keep my character in the team, adopt them or something, just contact me on Discord. Or just do it. I'll be fine with it as long as it's for the sake of the team, as in they stay in the team, not just for the funsies.

Fancy schmancy alright. Cerise widened her eyes in surprised at Samuel's combo of knockback and exit block. What did they say again? Fight fire with fire? Well that was exactly what Cerise proceeded to do, loading gravity Dust into her weapons as well. This might be a messy fight. Here's hoping they don't destroy school property like the last time?

She went along with the momentum from the shockwaves, leaning back on the chains and leaning her weight on them to sort-of vault/squeeze through. Now not within their confines, she struck the left side of the chains with her falchions in the hope of knocking them away long enough for her to sneak in once again. Those things could cause quite some trouble. And so Cerise used her semblance to 'teleport' back in front of Samuel, following with a kick to the abdomen and several quick slashes, hoping to overwhelm her opponent and sneak in as much as possible during the time frame in which she had the chance to.

Cerise looked around, momentarily confused because they were indoors. Then she realized that it was a joke. "Oh... Am I supposed to laugh now?" She was, in fact, genuinely asking. She was pretty sure it was a joke but was it one of those jokes that were made just to be made or one of those jokes made to be laughed at? Wait, but wasn't the definition of joke something to make people laugh? If so, then would it really be considered a joke? Then what was it? Just something said flippantly?

This was why she was not a philosopher.

Deciding that mini lightbulb moments/mental breakdowns could happen at a different time, Cerise accepted the invitation to take the first move, seeing as that was the role she usually took on. The charge forward was as quick as she could make it, seeing as the distance between them wasn't enough to warrant any pacing and the student would've liked to get as close as possible before engaging in combat with her new teammate. Those swords would probably be easier to deal with in close range. Cerise didn't much like the idea of having to deal with all of the lovely reach those chains gave dear Sam.

This start was just as much to feel out her opponent as it was for Samuel, so Cerise just went for simplicity. One downwards left-diagonal slash with the left blade, one horizontal with the right, both eyes on those chains. Beacon students had such fancy schmancy weapons, did they have nothing better to do than sit and design all day? And what exactly was Samuel's semblance again?

Sorry sorry sorry, school, blah blah blah, studying, packed schedule, nothing new really...

"Yeah, no can do buddy." Aurora shook her head and sighed slightly over-dramatically. "Really though, semblance recharges at a fast enough pace, but we literally just finished a battle. Mind giving your gracious leader a break please? Climbing's good for the arms, back, shoulders, that stuff." She directed a pointed look to Nero. "Long-range doesn't mean you're exempt from having to work out every once in a while. Though this isn't really working out in the slightest, but it's a start I suppose."

She quickly found a hold in the hedge wall, taking the lead in the climb. "No thanks, Gwylan, this isn't my first... climb..." Okay, so that sounded better in her head. "Enjoy the view."

Apologies for the late post, been busy, school, studying, going to have a hectic schedule...

Cerise looked curiously at the little blue sprite-like thing on Juno's shoulder. She was a cute little thing. Cerise mentally wondered how she worked. She'd have to ask Juno about it later, it somewhat intrigued her.

Momentarily pushing aside the topic of the little blue girl, Cerise got up from her seat on the benches, which was a pity because she really did like being sedentary. Some days she wondered why she was putting herself through this fighting and athletic stuff anyway, Cerise was a little lazy when it came to endurance stuff. Good chance that was a contributing factor to how quickly she got tired, along with her style.

"Ready when you are." This time, Cerise wielded both of her weapons, both in the same form. The reach advantage would have significantly decreased effectiveness when she was fighting someone with chains as a weapon. Her left arm she placed behind her back, her right holding one of her blades out diagonally.

Really really really really sorry for this post coming almost a month late, school started and, well, yeah. Posting may be reserved for weekends/Friday from now on, with the occasional weekday post when I'm not too swamped.

"Alright," said Jadyn, gesturing randomly at the growth on their left. "North side. Forest. Trees, fairly closely packed, mostly deciduous, that's what it's called right? Haven't learned about useless stuff like that in a while. Yeah so uh, there should be enough space for the smaller Grimm, lesser ones. Don't be expecting like a Taijitu or one of those other big ones that I can't be bothered to remember."

She looked around again, focusing mostly behind her. What she saw-or rather didn't see-seemed to tick her off. She huffed in annoyance. "Where is that eccentric friend of yours? I don't remember wandering around and doing absolutely nothing of use in the mission description."

The general smiled lightly. "No worries kid, not everyone's a strategist. You'll do fine I think, but in the future I advise you to focus a little more on tactical aspects." He crossed his arms and continued, "Whether or not you're amazing at it, some knowledge would benefit you." In the background, Jack was rocking on the balls of his feet, nodding along to his father.

Mauve was about to say her farewells when she remembered something that'd certainly help later on. "Oh, pardon me, I almost forgot to ask for you contact information. In case we need to communicate at all during the mission?" The three (Jack included) traded numbers and there was that solved. "I'll text if I need any orders given out, such as to retreat or focus somewhere. Or evacuate to the center."

"We'll take our leave then, General." Mauve gave the man a shallow bow, smiling her default soft charming style, the one with just a hint of doll-like compliance. "Mr. Omhiaba is certainly very thankful for your trust and belief in our ability, as am I. We will take your advice to heart."

She lightly guided Russell's seemingly kind of nervous self away from the barracks and towards the clinic. The movement he'd made earlier, touching that necklace, hadn't escaped her gaze. More often than not, those things were caused by either familiarity, habit, or emotional attachment. She wondered which one it was. And how exactly it could help her understand him more. But there was a good chance it'd seem intrusive, so Mauve simply bookmarked that particular detail for later reference.

"Well, I can see the Atlas in you," she commented lightly as the two walked towards the clinic. "It's very apparent..."

Aurora didn't really know how to feel about how her team was handling it. On one hand, that Deathstalker was very much dead. On the other, some things were a bit overkill. No need to beat a dead horse. Or scorpion Grimm thingy. She relayed this opinion to the team, as she'd regained some of her strength back. "Y'know, no harm in stopping. We might be here for a while and stuff is limited. Especially for Tina and Nero because you two use ammunition and we can't exactly call Titan over for a restocking. Applies to me too to be honest."

"Well at least it's over with," Aurora said lightly. "Allllllrighty so now that that's taken care of, we can move onto the next one. It's... not too far from here, still in the maze, lower right. This little scorpion chase actually led us closer to the entrance, which is a good thing." She squinted a bit at the map on her scroll, pausing to figure out a path. "Yeah, yeah. The short path we need to take to get there is accessible just"-this word she dragged out a bit-"over this left wall right here."

"So we can either climb or hack our way through again. Your choice."

Mauve smiled at the older girl. "I very much appreciate the honor and would be honored to join you. Thanks." She walked a few paces to pick up the weapon she'd discarded before continuing to speak to Saffron. "To be honest I'm not much for watching duels or sparring either. Even Vytal ones, I find them a bit dull. Not much for the idea of watching fights for sport, though I have nothing against doing so for educational reasons. Similarly with participating for those same reasons."

As she exited the arena with Saffron, Mauve remembered something the student had said during the offer. "Atlas you say? You'll have to catch me up, it's been a while since I've been there."

Gonna ask the same question I did to Monster plus a little extra. How does Gwylan feel about each of his team members at the moment? Who does he like and dislike most? Who does he think has the most potential? Was it right to choose Aurora for leader?

I am so so so so so so sorry for not posting earlier I have really no excuse, please PM me if I forget for so long like this. Even if it's because I've been busy I can at least tell you for how long and just-argh, sorry sorry sorry sorry...

Also EMPs are not that hard to get your hands on even if you're not a crime boss. Those of course are usually more short-range but this is RWBY and he is a crime boss with money and connections.

Prim noticed the other scary black-clothed dude that went into the trailer exit out probably in the hopes of escaping. THat would be the logical reasoning, who would want to stay somewhere when their whole operation was being disrupted and hopefully going to be outed. Too bad for that guy though, because Prim was so not going to let him get away. She drew a fire arrow and lit up his escape route, in the process of readying more. "Hey guys, big bad guy, probably important, probably matters a lot, probably could supply some really good information... My arrows can't hold him long, can someone go down and engage him? I mean like, combat, I don't think he needs a fiance or anything, I mean I don't see a ring but he's kinda far away and rings are pretty small and stuff also I mean who would want to be engaged to that dude... Anyway! Someone please go down there. And then maybe check on Ace, I mean the bad guys are out and he's not... I'm actually really worried. I can keep doing my thing up here."

Mauve let out a sharp sound of surprise as her fist didn't connect with a face as expected, but with cold, hard metal. On fire. Thank god for Aura, but still. That hurt. She still saw Saffron draw her blade though, and was quick enough to move and transfer the damage onto her forearm instead of her leg, possibly increasing it through the pushing motion. She was ready for the stab when it came, raising her legs to repeatedly kick the blade back towards Saffron instead of her and hoping that it made contact with the other student.

She'd retreated and was about to start attacking again when Mauve came to a realization about how low her Aura was and decided she'd rather be safe than sorry. They were fighting with fire and blades and explosive arrows, which would be very harmful and potentially lethal to someone with no Aura. "I yield," she said to Saffron, relaxing her pose into a normal stance instead of an 'I'm about to cause you harm' one. "My Aura's pretty low right now and I don't want to risk you or myself crossing the line of Aura loss without the other noticing or while the other can't react fast enough." She smiled. "It was an enjoyable fight, my thanks to you for that. Nice to know I can hold my own against an upperclassman, even if there's only a year's difference between us." In a show of good sport, because Mauve was nothing if not that, she held out her hand for Saffron to shake.

Aura 12%
If the blade is kicked back enough to do damage then you go ahead and decide percentages yourself. Good fight!

In the meanwhile, Mauve sat in one of the seats closer to the front, slightly incognito. Well, not really, she'd just tied up her hair to mostly hide the purple tips and worn sunglasses. Her mother didn't exactly want her there in person and definitely not on camera for obvious reasons, but Mauve was going to support her significant other anyway... With her presence at least because there was no way she was going to hold one of those annoying banners up. Or cheer. Ladies did not cheer in gladiator-esque battles. Or attend gladiator-esque battles at all but such was Remnant and such was tradition. Mauve didn't enjoy these things much, not really, but eh.

Nathan was doing well so far, but being on the receiving side was so much easier than being the attacker. To be totally honest Mauve had mixed feelings as to who would win, skill not included in her thoughts. On one hand if Nathan won then he'd certainly bring himself and in some way their team some glory. But then again if he lost then it would make his earlier... issues... less important as they didn't lead to his victory and he'd already made an impression on the rest of the world, good or bad.

Mauve would do well to remember that Beacon students were oh so fond of making their weapons nice and fancy. Electrical shields? Just another Monday. The clever little move opened her up for Saffron to go to town on, Mauve taking both of the shield bashes and all of the slashes, though the latter she partially deflected. With her own arms, yes, but it did ease some of the damage. This fight was going to draw to a close soon and to be honest it'd been fun, so Mauve really didn't care whether or not she won. Well, not as much as she would usually at least.

Right off the bat Mauve noticed two prime targets, the first being Saffron's nose and the second being her legs. Her concentrated attacks on the latter seemed to have been successful, though she wasn't quite sure why the other student's nose had started bleeded. She didn't exactly remember directing any of her attacks at her face. Deciding the why was currently irrelevant and she shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, Mauve resumed her attack. She kicked twice at Saffron's shins, light, really only meant to test exactly how vulnerable they were. In the meanwhile, her arms were up in front guarding her face and she stayed light on her toes, retreating slightly afterwards in the manner of a boxer.

Once she was confident in her ability to deliver Mauve neared the student again, though instead of kicking she actually just punched Saffron in the face. That was followed by a hard kick to the upperclassman's lower shin/ankle area. Granted, this left her fairly open with one of her hands and legs occupied momentarily, but chances had to be taken.

Spoiler: ShowHide
Aura 19% (slashes were kinda deflected but with her forearm)
Light shin kicks: 2-3% x 2
Punch in the face: 4%
Hard kick: 5%

If Merciless MCLS would be an option as well.

Perhaps black for a color? I don't know, but mercy screams white to me, and merciless makes me think the opposite, hence black.
