Calen grinned wider and wider as he noticed more and more eyes on him. Being a total diva nothing made Calen happier than being the centre of attention and the topic of conversation. Finishing his drink Calen made his way to the bar for a refill and to check on the pair of men he first saw when he settled down in the bar. They seemed to be getting along well enough but like anything, Calen knew that more him, like with everything, could only make the interaction go smoother at least in comparison. After accepting his refill from the bartender with a smile, nod and raising of his glassed Calen took another sip before turning to Lucas and Gram.

'Oh I'm sure it's nothing so drastic, Master Lantern. And even if it was there is no reason the night can't be salvaged. I'm Calen by the way, Calen Shrike, what are your names?' Calen interrupted offering his hand to Lucas and Gram in turn to shake. Calen did honestly hope it wasn't anything serious, Calen could obviously enjoy anyone's misery but it did mean a lot less when wasn't the one causing it.

'We'll see.' Calen responded as he slowly swam his way over to Kisha in a slow but deliberate breaststroke, never submerging his head. What Kisha said was partially correct, Calen did slightly warm up as he started to move but it wasn't enough to be called anything close to warm. Still, Calen had always found something strangely pleasant about being cold; it was calming, it sharpened his senses and kept him focused on the present. 'Perhaps we should have a bit of a cook-off, see who can make the spiciest curry which people are actually willing to eat.' Calen remarked wistfully as he thought to the hot meal to come. Spicy food had always been one of those things that Calen was initially ambivalent to but has become rather experienced in since coming to Beacon as a way to ensure other people don't eat his food.

'My father would always use teas whenever we got sick. Chamomile tea for fevers, Echinacea tea for colds, Peppermint tea for stomach aches and so on. At the time I thought it was normal but since coming to Beacon I have thrown myself completely into modern medicine, even get that common cold vaccine which seems to help as long as I don't jump into cold water.' Calen joked as he reached Kisha and started swimming in wide arcs around his classmate. As much as he was whining the water wasn't actually that cold and Calen was almost enjoying the swim. 'So do you cook spicy food often? Have to confess most of my team aren't that into significant spice so I don't get many opportunities to try it out.' Calen asks watching the shoreline as the last of the light starts to fade away.

So as has been pretty well established Calen is a bit of a dick but he is also very good at pretending he isn't. As such the flamboyant swordsman already with a few hunts under his belt would have probably gathered a reasonable following. Calen probably takes huge advantage of the parasocial relationships that form from celebrity and fan encouraging certain life decisions which although could definitely be the right way forward are still quite risky and all while keeping up the facade of someone who just wants to help. Just like most of his negative tendances Calen doesn't consider these actions evil, although they definitely are, he simply thinks he is teaching people a valuable lesson on trusting authority figures who don't have any real qualifications obviously ignoring that such a lesson could be taught without causing them pain.

Saffron has a lot of issues when interacting with her fans. As a Faunus in Atlas, she does actually have quite a large group of devoted Faunus fans who are amazed to see one of their own climb to the ranks she has as well as a few humans but who cares about them. The only issue is that because of a few extremely negative experiences concerning people pretending to be fans to humiliate her Saffron has been very slow to entertain the idea of doing any live meetups again. Even online Saffron knows that at least a couple of the messages she gets are from people trying to make a fool out of her but she has become savvier and by interacted though trusted gatekeepers she keeps the humiliations to a minimum while still providing advice online.

Ramalia hasn't really done anything to get fans. (I haven't been bothered to put her into anything.)

Calen used to play the piano quite a bit with his family and as such, the instrument brings back a lot of bad memories for him. And as not-piano isn't a music genre Calen's prefered is probably folk. As a dancer both professionally and as a combat style Calen spends a lot of time around music and only really finds it possible to relax around the music he doesn't have to deal with in two most hectic parts of his life. Calen also has a soft spot for stories of ancient heroes even if he does little to give that impression.

Saffron is a musician first and for most and if she even needs to de-stress herself out she always falls back on her most treasured instrument, the twelve-string acoustic guitar. Saffron will often find herself somewhere cold and lonely, not hard in Atlas and play to her fingers are numb just to resent her mind. Finding the precise but relatively simple movements of guitar playing allows her to focus as she goes through various acoustic covers of pop songs.

Ramalia's only exposure to music before coming to Shade was the throat singing of her tribe, a rather corse harmony of voices supposed to mimic to ways of the desert(it is definitely as annoying to others as the desert is). Unlike Saffron, Ramalia can't really do this on her own and instead sits in silence, one of the few times Ramalia is silent, and plays back choruses her tribe and she once sang together before they cast her out.

'I'll manage but thank you for your concern. As I'm sure you know sight is not the only sense one fights by and although I would prefer some light whether from the moon and stars or the setting or rising sun I can adapt.' Calen responded gesturing to the part of his head which if he was wearing Akel's headset the ears would be. Teasing aside Calen was in a good mood as Akel started picking at the provided food Calen pulled out a bottle of chilled water and took a few sips before continuing. Well with that sorted I've got a few things I need to put some things in order before going away for a couple of days, feel free to stick around if you like to eat as the others won't be back for a bit and I'll meet you back in the lecture hall for taking off. Feel free to call me on your scroll if you have any questions though.' Calen continued as he put the bottle of water back in the fridge and making his way out of the room. 'Remember no nerves, throws off my groove. Kisses' Calen finished with mock seriousness and overt coyness as he walked out of the room, not even looking back on their impact on Akel. Calen didn't actually have a huge amount of things he needed to get done, or anything really for that matter but it was important for Calen that he be perceived as a very busy and time conscious person, it made it easier to blow them off later.

True to his word Calen just made it back to the lecture hall as the students where pilling out to get into the airship to take them to field put aside for this exercise.  It wasn't any larger than any other airship Akel or Calen had been on before but most of the luxuries and the standing room had been taken up by even more large, heavy and uncomfortable chairs. It was rather clear that this is or at least was a military transport. Calen clucked his tongue disatisfied repeatedly as the reality of their fight became apparent and the gaunt boy was clearly not impressed. Being sat next to each other Calen turned to Akel and asked. 'So nightfall is probably in a couple of hours or do you want to try to wait for the morning, that way we get a nights rest and we can hit them while they are waking up?' Calen asked with a slight smile on his lips, despite all his complaining about the flight he was still obviously very excited for the mission itself, it looked like fun.

Calen looked like he was going to open his mouth again before a loud argument broke out further down in the airship but as everyone else was talking in hushed tones as to not be overheard the loud booming curses echoed all around the ship.
'What did you say about me, I could break you both into two pieces with one hand.' One voice cried out
'Please you can't find your way to the classroom without asking you won't be able to find your target let alone avoid the ones chasing you. A second voice sounded in response.
'A forest is totally different from a school, it's just the corridors they turn me around. At least I'm not a cowardly Caster hiding behind dust because I can't fight my own battles.' the first voice responded getting angrier and angrier.
'What did you say about Casters? A new voice sounded from further up the plane.
'That you are cowards and you are going to blow away all your power in the first couple of minutes and then you are just going to whine the rest of the time.' Another new voice responded close to Akel and Calen.

The exchange continued but it quickly devolved to insult throwing and the teacher didn't seem to have any desire to put a stop to it. Calen didn't join in but he was clearly following along as best he could and the threads of shouting matches got increasingly confusing as more people did, at one point it seemed like half the plane was yelling at each other and the other half was just kind of stunned at peoples outbursts. Calen turned back over the Akel and had to half yell to be heard over the commotion, smiling as he did so. 'I think this is going to be really really fun.' Luckily Akel and Calen were near a window and could easily see the terrain around them, they were flying out into the Forever Fall forest, a popular location for missions like this as it was close enough to civilisation for most major Grimm threats to keep away while far enough from civilisation so that the students don't accidentally break anything too important.

[Aurelia and Cerulean]

The Grimm Aurelia was fighting had little choice other than taking the full brunt of the knight's assault directly. It's attacks deflected and it's armour pierced the Beringel let out a loud howl that quickly died as it's insides filled with dust. In a living target, their insides would be immediately destroyed by such exposure but the Grimm was not conventionally alive, maintained by dark energy, and despite the massive damage, it had sustained it kept up its assault at least for now. Aurelia's shield was hard pressed to keep the creature's maw getting any closer as it repeatedly beat down on the knight's defences each movement sending shockwaves through Aurelia's shield arm. Unfortunately for the Huntress in training, the Grimm had other avenues of attack. Its huge black arms reached up and sort to wrap up Aurelia's head into its strong grip. The Beringal's body had been filled with so much dust that the combined electric and fire dust was spilling out of its mouth onto Aurelia's shield and Noble Stead below but still, the creature kept coming.

Once again the forest was rife with the sound of cannon fire, far more rushed and regular than the pair had heard before but it wasn't something Aurelia and Cerulean had to deal for long as after the sounds of a larger and far less controlled explosion the forest once again fell quiet except for the local conflicts. The two Beringel's watching Cerulean from the trees howled as the final explosion erupted and it sounded almost gleeful. Almost casually swinging around the branch they where holding on to the Beringals managed to easily dodge Cerulean's javelin and even catching the weapon as it sailed above them.

With that those two Beringals departed through the canopy towards the sounds of the explosions, leaving the Grimm fighting Aurelia to fend for itself. If the departure of its fellows bothered the creature much it didn't show it if anything it only served the enrages the Grimm further leading even more strength to its already furious blows.

So the only real issue I can see is that if Zabar drops his aura around his arms while using them to block blows I find it hard to justify him not immediately losing said arms. I get his fighting style is supposed to be self-destructive but that kind of seems like you are taking it a bit too far. Otherwise, the specifics around the semblance are well laid out, although the rail rifle reference does confuse me slightly, and Zabar looks like he is going on a cool journey.

 CHARACTER

Name: Zabar Aga

Age: 18 - Born Saule 10th, 62 AC

Species and Gender: Human male

Symbol:

Occupation: First year student at Shade Academy

Appearance: 5’10” 162 lbs. Zabar was born with dark brown hair but the sun of the desert has since bleached it into the dirty blond scraggly mess that it is now, he has orange eyes, and has a muscular build, born from the months of labor he’s been through. His family was one of the original tribe members of ancient Vacuo and as such, he has a dark tanned skin. He has some unshaven hair along his chin and upper lip, but not enough to be a full beard or mustache. He commonly wears a large brimmed cowboy hat to protect his head from the beating Sun. During his time at Oasis Academy, Zabar was given a chance to design his own armor and weapon, he chose to design an outfit that would provide protection from the harsh heat of the desert and decent protection against attacks from enemies.

After spending several months scavenging for parts, Zabar had finally found enough parts to work with to make his armor. He had designed a hybrid of knight armor and cowboy apparel along with a cooling system throughout the outfit.  He wears a normal everyday long sleeved shirt underneath everything to be more comfortable and because he has no arm protection aside from his weapons, but over that he wears a chestpiece of a discarded piece of Scav armor. This armor allowed for a rigged cooling system to pump cool air throughout his body. Over that, he wore a dusty orange and brown buttoned shirt and a brown leather belt with a bronze buckle. He also wears a pair of dark brown combat pants and black boots with steel heels and tips, though they can be removed if need be. Over top of his shirt, he wears a large orange and gold poncho that sweeps around his back and right arm and shoulder. The poncho can be removed quickly and easily if need be.

In preparation for a trip to Vale by his history class, Zabar purchased a heavy winter coat to wear for the colder weather of eastern Vytal. It is light grey in color and has a fur lining inside. A belt hangs around the waist to be used if need be. The coat itself is extra padded and is able to protect Zabar from much colder weathers than the Valish winter, even going as far as to be useful during the icy Atlesian winters. Zabar later had his symbol stitched into the back of the coat. If Zabar needs to fight while in his coat, the gauntlets will extend over it, protecting the arms of the coat from damage.

History: Zabar was born the fifth child to one of the old families of Vacuo on the 10th of Saule. His mother and father were both ex-hunters who had settled down into the teaching profession at Oasis. His grandfather, Uli, sat on the council of Vacuo. His two of his brothers and one of his two sisters had all gone out and started training to become hunters and huntresses, either already graduated or nearing graduation by the time he was born, while his remaining sister trained to become a professional scavenger. Because of all of this, Zabar had always dreamed of becoming a hunter or scavenger and hunting through the wastes and ruins of the Sunkissed Sands, fighting Grimm and discovering buried treasure. Unfortunately, he was an unruly and impatient child when he was young and went out into the wastes several times with his friends, none of whom had any way to protect the group. Zabar knew of a rarely guarded section of the wall near the northern edge of the city and led his friends out several times to visit the waste’s beach, which had a few ruins, cleared out long ago by scavengers.

One day, while one of his friends was climbing to the top of one of the ruined towers, he spotted it across the wastes; the border between the desert and the jungles and forests to the north. They had all heard the stories of the north, dense jungles and forests jam packed with Grimm… but they had also heard of the bundles of fruits and vegetables and beautiful flora that the green woods held. They all knew their parents would never let them try to cross the wastes, they wouldn’t even allow them to be just outside of the wall, in the ruins. In spite of this, they all knew they wanted to go there, the chance to see something other than the orange sands and beating sun was too great to pass up, so they made a plan. They’d leave in two days time, after getting some water to bring with them, and they’d cross the wastes.

At first, everything went fine. They got through the wall easily enough, and they’d gone past the ruins, the furthest they’d been before. But, of course, they were children, there was no way they could have made it across the desert, even a “short” trip from the north of Vacuo to the jungles above. They weren’t far past the ruins that they heard and felt the rumbling. At first, they assumed it was just the shifting of the sand under them and maybe the wind picking up. They were quickly disproved, however, as a Landshark, a large worm-like Grimm with many rows of teeth, shot out of the ground and started moving toward them. The children screamed, and ran, as children would be expected to do, and started to run back to the ruins for protection. As they ran, one of Zabar’s friends tripped and fell to the sands before quickly scrambling back up and dropping the water that was on his back.

Just as they were at they made it to the ruins, the Landshark swung around in front of them and blocked their path. It reared it’s jagged toothed mouth up to strike and shot downward toward Zabar and his friends, but before it could reach them, they heard a gun go off, and the Landshark fell to one side before shooting off toward where gun had been fired from, one of the ruined towers. Just then a hunter appeared next to them and told them to run back to the wall. They did. They ran faster than any of them had run before as the hunters behind them fought and killed the Grimm.

Back at the wall, a group of city police and two more hunters were waiting for them. They were all in a very large amount of trouble but were alive, and that’s all their parents cared about. However, while he didn’t know how his friends felt, Zabar had never felt so alive. From that moment on, he knew he had to make his dream of exploring the wastes and going to other lands a reality.

Once he got into Oasis Academy, he knew he was one step closer to achieving his dreams. Every day, he studied what the desert was like. He learned it’s history, it’s Grimm, it’s dangers, he learned first hand what one of the infamous elemental storms were like when one blew through the city, though thankfully his family could afford a retractable house and they were safe from the storm’s wrath. He learned out to perform combat in the desert, how to use it to his advantage. Every day, he dreamed of leaving the city and exploring the wastes, and he knew exactly how to achieve this. Oasis. They trained hunters and scavengers there, he knew they got to go out on missions to the wastes from his siblings, and at the end of his final year at Oasis, he was accepted into the Academy.

Personality: Zabar is, foremost, a determined young man, though you would never know that. While he is determined, he’s also exceedingly lazy, opting to avoid issues rather than deal with them if they aren’t important enough. His family is one of the most wealthy in the Kingdom, but he never let that affect him, he stayed humble and grounded. It is very rare to see him angry, at least visually. He is extremely adamant about becoming a hunter or a scavenger so he can leave the city, though part of him desperately wants to stay within its walls.. He’s pragmatic, he isn’t afraid of asking others for help in his quest and is actually happy to work with others. He is excellent with dealing with situations under pressure and will be one of the last to lose their focus on the task at hand, assuming it is important enough to Zabar. While he’s happy to accept challenges, he doesn’t get angry or upset if he’s scrutinized. If it’s something he believes he deserves to be scrutinized for, he’ll listen and usually agree. If it’s someone trying to talk down to Zabar for no reason, he’ll just try to casually deflect the remarks.

Aura and Semblance: Reversal Shield
Zabar’s aura comes out a bronze color. It was unlocked in Oasis Academy along with his semblance.

Zabar has the ability to form a shield of his aura in front of his hands. These shields are visualized by the air in front of his hands shimmering and wavering. The shields are able to stop projectiles shot at him and have the ability to, once the shield is released, fire the projectiles back to where he is aiming his hands. He can stop anti-personnel and handheld weapons. He cannot, however, stop large weaponry fired from things such as military vehicles with only one hand. He can have, at most, two of the shields up at once, one for each hand, and can move them while he has his active. He also has the option to bring the shield together to double the stopping power and range. The less projectiles he has “stored up” in his shield, the further he can fire the projectiles. The projectiles fired use the semblances own propulsion, and not the propulsion of the projectile fired. That is, if an assault rifle was fired into the shield and a sniper round was fired into the shield, the sniper round would be fired the same distance as the bullets, not a separate distance. Inversely, if only a sniper round is fired into the shield, Zabar can concentrate his aura and fire it a much further distance. The more projectiles in the shield, the lower the accuracy as well. If many projectiles are in the shield, it will come out as a scatter shot with a specified target, but it would be like firing a shotgun at someone. With only a few projectiles in the shield, he can accurately fire at a target with the projectiles being extremely accurate with their aim. At its longest, the shield can last a full 40 seconds before being automatically released, firing the projectiles back. However, Zabar can cancel the shield at any time and fire manually. He can also choose to disable the propulsion and just let the projectiles drop to the ground, if he wants to. While in the shield, projectiles with a "front" such as a bullet or spear, will turn around to face where he is pointing. The shield does not affect actual melee attacks but can affect thrown weapons. It can stop pure dust based attacks, though it causes things to grow more complicated. If the attack is something like fire, the shield will suck it up into a ball and when fired back it will explode on impact, the same is true for pure lightning attacks though the explosion is electrical based. If the attack consists of solid dust attacks, such as ice spikes, they will act as thrown or shot projectiles and fired back accordingly. Any pure Dust attack puts an extra tax on Zabar, though more often than not it’s not enough to break the shield.

Combat Behavior: Zabar is heavily focused on hand to hand combat, and always tries to get close to his opponent. While he does have his weapons for mid-ranged attacks, he is also very skilled at brawling and simply duking it out with the opponent. He isn’t the fastest on his feet, but he is fast enough to react to most Grimm and people, though his only defense past his, reasonably strong, aura shield is his metal gauntlets that extend up to his shoulder. He uses his weapons both as a tool of destruction and also as a way to block attacks, and will go as far as to grab the opponent's weapon with the gauntlets metal hand in order to stop and attack. However, Zabar’s weaknesses come out when his opponents are faster than him, or purely long range. If his opponents are faster than him, he may not be able to keep up and wear himself out or he may not be able to block fast enough. With someone who is purely long range, he will be able to utilize his semblance to attack back, but only for so long and if he can’t get close to them, he won’t be able to do any serious damage. Inversely, if someone is purely close range, he will be in his element, but he won’t be able to utilize his semblance.
- Has a strong aura and can take a lot of punishment
- Heavy hitting
- Not good against purely long range
- Excellent at close quarters combat
- Able to grab enemy weapons with gauntlets
- Fast
- Skilled with his aura and semblance

WEAPONS

Names: Ukum and Zu

Primary Forms: Ukum and Zu are identical, silver gauntlets that extend from Zabar’s hands, all the way up to his shoulders, protecting his both arms. The fingertips are all pointed into a sharp tip at the end, allowing Zabar to use them to scratch or cut others, but most often they’re used for punching in hand to hand combat. At the top of his right bicep, and extending up to the shoulder, Zabar had bronze implemented into it in the shape of his symbol, a hawk. Both the armor that extends up his arms and the sharp claws can be retracted at will, so that when normally walking around, he appears to simply have armored gloves. Due to their use with dust affects, the gauntlets have been insulated and reinforced to prevent Zabar from freezing, burning, or shocking himself.

Dust Functions: Along the arms of both Ukum and Zu, there are slots to insert dust canisters into. These canisters let the dust flow through the arm to the palm of the hand where there is an outlet, that lets it act as a short range dust-thrower reaching a few meters outward. The gauntlets currently have a maximum of four canisters in each arm

Fire Dust - The gauntlets act as a flamethrower.
Ice Dust - The gauntlets shoot out ice dust particles that activate after coming into contact with something, causing it to freeze over.
Lightning Dust - The gauntlets can shoot out bolts of electricity.
Kinetic Dust - The gauntlets can shoot out bursts of propulsion dust so that Zabar can dash to avoid and attack.

All of these functions can also be applied passively to the gauntlet and, by extension, the arm though Zabar only uses fire and electric Dust. That is, with fire Dust, the gauntlets become scalding hot and with electric Dust, they becoming electrified. He can also insert as many different types of Dust as he wants at once and cycle through them in combat.

Zabar also has the ability use his semblance and gauntlets in unison as a jury rigged Semblance Catalyst Focus. When using his semblance and collecting projectiles, he can use his gauntlets to coat the projectiles in the dust of his choice, causing them to have an element effect upon contact.

History: Ukum and Zu were both made at Oasis Academy in Vacuo.

CHARACTER

Name: Nathan Nad Eau (a.k.a. Nathan Eau)

Age: 17, born 6th of Zinnober 63 AC

Species and Gender: Male human

Symbol:
Occupation: Beacon Academy student, first year

Appearance: At 176.5 cm/5'9½" (he doesn't mind rounding up or down) and 72.5 kg/160 lbs, Nathan is more lean than fit, and while not actually chiseled, he still has some definition to his muscles. His lower body has more bulk than his upper body, but this is partially offset by his large ribcage and broad shoulders. He thinks of himself as "ridiculously average-looking" or "ever-so-slightly on the attractive side", depending on how far you push that particular investigation (although seriously, why in Remnant would you?). He has more defined neck muscles than the average person. His voice usually hangs about the low to mid-low range. If he's warm and his arms are below his chest, veins are VERY visible all over the hands and forearms. He has a thick (about 3 mm wide, 2 mm high, 3 cm long) scar on his right elbow. He has fine (almost feminine but not quite), agile hands. He is left-handed. He has tanned (perhaps a bit paler than Neptune) skin. He has short (about 4 cm),VERY dark brown (looks basically black) hair. His eyes are dark gold/light and rich brown (depending on how far away you're standing). He usually crosses his arms when standing, but it doesn't mean anything. His face tends to remain relatively emotionless, albeit it's not for lack of trying to be expressive. He walks very fast (pretty much overtakes anyone who isn't jogging) thanks to long strides from good rotation of the pelvis and years of practice.

He has only dark grey running shoes. Normal clothes: His favorite garments are a black, somewhat slim-fit T-shirt going down the arms to just above the elbow with dark lime green lines on the sides and dark blue jeans, although it isn't uncommon for him to simply don "a shirt" and "some jeans". If it's cold/raining, he wears a dark grey coat with a hood. School clothing: standard Beacon uniform apart from a slightly loose tie and the aforementioned running shoes. Formal clothing: a white, ever-so-slightly ivory lounge suit with notched lapel, the overall colour being quite reminescent of a white rose's petals. Usually worn with a vibrant green, vibrant cyan or vibrant purple tie. Pajama: white T-shirt and red and black plaid pajama pants. Combat-ready: dons a dark grey harness worn over his coat/shirt with 1 pouch (horizontal on left-hand side of belt that's about 15.5*10 cm). The harness has fixation points in the middle of the back for his weapon and more fixation points on the sides of the back to snap on extra luggage space. After some recent events, he also keeps three slugs in his jeans' left front pocket.

History: Nathan was born and raised in Vale. He spent ages 5-12 going to a school about 1.5 km away from his home. He also spent those years being bullied, rejected or ignored by all other kids. When he was 12, his parents divorced and he stayed with his mother. During the last semester of school that year, he scored very high on an Aura ability test part of the normal orientation process. Having been taught the hard way how not everyone can defend themselves, he decided to put his newfound skills to use by becoming a Huntsman. Not even 3 months later, his mother met an Atlasian scientist who was working in Vale at the time. He subsequently enrolled in a local Combat School, about 4 km from residence. Starting from the first semester, he was taught a lot by his stepfather about Dust, technology and science in general through common interests and regular discussions. Although he didn't get bullied or rejected at school anymore, he didn't really make anything more than acquaintances and circumstantial friendships.

During his time at combat school, he had a few classes of hand-to-hand combat like everyone, but never practiced it outside of said classes, of which there were about 3 or 4 (talking about how many times a lesson was given, not how many classes and, somewhat by extension, teachers). When it came to fighting with weapons, he vastly preferred the versatility of staves to swords, maces and gauntlets. Practicing regularly, he gradually taught himself to mix and match combat styles rather than staying with a single one every battle. Not only did he think it would make him more adaptable, he also thought it would make him harder to contend with. His style, through the years, eventually reached a stable state, where he defends whilst taking advantage of every opening he can, in any way he can. During that entire time, however, he somewhat neglected to practice long-range firearm handling.

When he was about 14, he started experimenting with Dust under strict safety protocols in a small part of his basement (he was shown how by his stepfather). Upon learning the nature of his semblance, he started to create schematics and data for his to-be weapon and the required Dust components. His desire to defend victims and pursue aggressors having only grown stronger during his years at combat school, he was eager to advance his training even further and enter Beacon. He scored pretty good at all parts of the entrance exam. His parents moved to Atlas as he moved to the Academy.

Personality: Relaxed and calm, he likes to make the odd joke and is generally easy-going. He has vast trouble understanding non-aggressive body language and prefers to be as honest as possible without unduly hurting anyone. Although not lacking in self-confidence, he's rather shy and will not go towards others unless they first come to him or he has to go to them. He rarely gets angry or even worked up, as he is incredibly patient. He is a fast learner and a great listener. He has an immense imagination and fabulous memory (for the things he cares about). Messing with the ones he loves with the serious intention of hurting them is not recommended, as he may go into (I don't know how to describe this in a word or two: it's basically as if his emotions turned into a cold, soul-wrenching abyss where the only thing that exists is the will to get what's wrong to stop, all the while keeping a very calm face). He has very good senses (for a human) and tends to dislike loud noises and bright lights, carrying a pair of high-tech, flexible sunglasses in his jeans' pocket (so they don't continually break when he fights). He has a lot of difficulty in putting his full trust into someone else.

He usually enjoys just playing games on his computer, but sometimes reads a bit.

Aura and Semblance: His Aura is of a bright white colour and turns jet black when "angry" (see emotion described above), seemingly absorbing light within line of sight instead of emitting it. His semblance is Energy: that is, he can control his own kinetic energy. To be more clear, he can turn his Aura into kinetic energy, but not at a distance. The energy being inherently associated with momentum, he only uses it for powerful blows, lest he fling himself out of control to go faster.

When 'angry', pale black tendrils (these are entirely unsubstantial, aka Aura) that start appearing around him and become darker, larger, more numerous and more opaque the worse he gets. The air will seem to grow stale. His irises will take on the slightest tinge of red while his pupils contract to a point.

It is worth noting that he has never told anyone what his semblance is and that he tries to use it as little as possible.

Examples for scale: ShowHide
Here are some examples of the uses for scale.
Hits: - Like a speeding truck for 60% of his Aura.
        - Like a speeding car for 40%.
        - Unusually powerful blows for 5% (enough to severely stun most Grimm).

Numbers: These are based on the examples above, if applied to someone with an arbitrarily average build, Aura, etc. NOTE: As long as this very sentence is present, apply a 2x modifier to the cost.
       - 1% --> 4% Aura damage
       - 5% --> 20% Aura damage
       - 8% --> 33% Aura damage (current cap, he's yet to make more powerful blows)
- 10% --> 42% Aura damage
       - 15% --> 65% Aura damage
       - 20% --> 90% Aura damage

Anything beyond that will merely do more damage, beyond the now-shattered Aura, with the semi-exponential function still applying. The amount of seconds he must wait before his Aura is usable again is equal to twice the percentage of Aura consumed.

Adapted 'costs' for the new 'strain' mechanic - the cost multiplier is already present.

       - 4% Aura damage: Minor fatigue, basically a slight buzzing in the ears for a couple seconds. Can use this a maximum of 49 times, the 50th knocking him out from exhaustion.
       - 20% Aura damage: Feels as though the blood was drained from his head for a second or two; shaky for a few more seconds afterwards, then fatigued. (He can dish out 9 hits like this, the 10th one causing him to collapse from exhaustion)
       - 33% Aura damage (current cap, he's yet to manage more powerful blows): Feels as though the blood drained from his head for about 5 seconds. Shaky for approximately 20 seconds afterwards, then fatigue sets in. (He can dish out 4 hits like this, the 5th one causing him to collapse from exhaustion)
In addition, his semblance can be used to propel objects towards targets. The accuracy of this 'throw' of sorts is proportional to the amount of energy used and inversely proportional to the object's size. As a landmark, using around 16% on one of the slugs he uses within his weapon gets him an initial accuracy slightly worse than an assault rifle, making it a good choice at the lower mid-range and closer.

Here, 'initial accuracy' refers to the accuracy of the object's motion towards the intended target. Factors that come into play after the propulsion, such as gravity, wind, object aerodynamics and such are not included (unless he explicitly takes them into account, if possible).

Combat Behavior: He tends to favor swift, precise and efficient movements when defending and powerful blows when attacking. He mixes hand-to-hand with weapon combat freely. He will favor confrontation if an enemy is actively chasing him but will otherwise prefer stealth. He will try to dodge and block all he can. When first encountering an enemy, he will never attack first - unless he can get a surprise snipe in.

He will prefer to concentrate on one threat at a time and take care of it as fast and as safely as possible, which opens him up to surprise attacks from unsuspected additional threats. When he suspects more than he can see, he will tend to maintain a more defensive posture.

If outnumbered, he will be capable of resisting without using his semblance a small amount of time but will prefer to get some distance between him and the enemy to come back in at a new angle.

Although his weapon would have you think otherwise, Nathan is relatively unskilled at long range sniping, mostly just winging it. He's good - for someone with little to no practice. His largest weakness, however, is very close melee or hand-to-hand combat. He never practiced those, preferring to hone his staff skills as it allows him a greater reach.

WEAPON

Name: Ergia

Primary Form: Ergia's primary form is relatively tame - a matte, black cylinder about a foot long, slightly too large to grasp comfortably with the average hand. Two thin green lines circle it, separating the cylinder into thirds. Nathan's symbol is visible on the back of the uppermost third. When hooked onto its place on the harness, it can serve as a jumppack, providing relatively limited vertical mobility. Used for going up or breaking a fall - when angled correctly. Maximum autonomy of 3 minutes without 'reloading'.

Not now - for approved future development only.: ShowHide
When unhooked, it can serve as a flamethrower, producing an intense, bunsen burner-like flame about 6 meters long, although the heat is still pretty intense for about 3 meters after that.

Secondary Form: Both staff mechanisms extend to their maximum lengths of 75 cm, making the weapon a 180 cm matte black staff with dark lime green lines and a thicker, 30 cm cylinder in the middle. Transformation can take as little as 2 seconds. In this form, parts of the staff portion can either be electrified or the air around them, heated to a point where it can easily cut through organic materials, but will only slowly heat up dense non-organic stuff like concrete, steel, etc.

Tertiary Form: The top/forward staff mechanism extends by 30 centimeters and a handle and variable strength scope flip out of the top section. Fires 5x20 mm tungsten slugs at a rate of 12 per second and speed of Mach 2 (3% damage  per shot against someone with arbitrarily average Aura). Each magazine of these 'light' rounds has about 300 of them. He keeps one mag on his harness and one in Ergia. Transformation takes about 1 second from storage form and 2 seconds from staff form.

Dust Functions: The way Ergia uses Dust can be considered somewhat different from the norm. Although the jumppack uses a mix of Kinetic and Gravity Dust to provide thrust, about a quarter of a litre per 3 minute charge, the rest only uses Dust indirectly. Six power crystals are located at the centre of the main cylinder, providing the entire weapon with vast amounts of power, needed for everything from the jumppack to the staff modifiers. The power crystals must be recharged with power when empty and, even through intense usage, will drain rather slowly, a single one lasting a good 10 minutes or so.

History: Ergia was made, from plans to fully functional, in the last three years prior to his entry at Beacon. The components took about 6 months to get right and the shell and final assembly, 6 more months. It was made to make the most use of his semblance and to be as versatile as possible. It was named Ergia due to having vast amounts of energy at its heart.

Specifics and Schematics: ShowHide
The primary form is a 30 cm long, 6.8 cm diameter matte black cylinder with 2 dark lime green lines on the wall 10 cm from the bases. The bottom opens up when engaging the jetpack. The central section is dedicated to housing the power cores and control mechanisms, the upper section is devoted to the first staff mechanism while the bottom part is reserved to the jetpack and second staff mechanisms. The staff portions have an external diameter of 3 cm. The jumppack is a tiny thing that occupies a third of the main cylinder, consuming Dust to provide thrust. The second form's extra functions are achieved by using small Dust crystals integrated within Ergia in conjunction with the main power. Most of the circuitry has Dust in it to make it as compact as possible. The power cores mentioned earlier are custom-made Dust crystals created to store enormous amounts of energy each. They glow a soft, pleasant cerulean when full and are a dark, dull blue when empty. They are 9 cm long and 2 cm wide at their widest. There are 6 of them at all times in the center section of the cylinder. Nathan stores an extra 6 in his belt-level pouch. The jumppack mechanism uses a special blend of Dust that greatly increases the thrust produced and comsumption efficiency when used in conjunction with the energy from the power cores.

With there altercation with the not-quite-miners dealt with and nothing left to do on the lower levels of the mine the Hunters and Huntresses in training quickly met up and made their way to the elevator. Upon entering the elevator it would automatically start and take the party of four up to Falconhaven. It was a smooth ride, particularly considering the speed they were all moving at but the town above was still a fair bit off and it took a couple of minutes to reach. When the elevator stopped the doors didn't immediately open and the voice which Camelia recognised as Doctor Cauze filled the room. 'Finally you are all here. Welcome to Falconhaven I'm sure your stay will be a short one but do feel free to explore the many different sights before concluding that all these accidents are just that, accidents. Whatever the council might say I can not afford to lower our dust production for your visit so you will liaison with my security teams, one should be outside waiting for you. They will help you get the lay of the land and keep on track.' Doctor Cauze reported quickly before cutting off communications entirely. A few moments later the doors opened.

Falconhaven was a rather beautiful town, effectively fully enclosed the townspeople had clearly gone to great lengths to beautify their home. The ceiling of the cave was painting extensively to show a beautiful sunset full of reds, oranges, yellows and purples and the clouds 'filter' the light from the fading sun which on top of looking nice provided light for the entire cavern. If studied for any length of time it would become clear that the sky painting was slowly changing, darkening to mirror the light outside. There was also obviously no natural greenery but that as well was tackled with paintings as support pillars were painting like trees with even some small animals running all throughout. The houses and other buildings mirrored this look with vines and roses painted over the otherwise very English countryside looking fair. The people, on the other hand, didn't look as colourful, suspicion was clearly rife in the air as people hurried from on their daily commute.

As Doctor Cauze had said there was a squad of three security officers waiting for the Hunters and Huntresses in training to arrive which stood out quite starkly in their dark green uniforms. The citizens did seem to relax a little around the security officers and they shared a few greetings before they caught sight of the party and from then on all greetings where ignored. 'Hello Hunters and Huntresses, my name is Eloise Daily ... Lieutenant Eloise Daily and these are Corporal Davidson and Sargeant Mathews, we have been asked to help in any way we can.' Lieutenant Daily spoke in a friendly and casual manner as she walked a bit forward and waved. Daily was a rather stocky looking brown woman whose black hair was all tied up neatly under her hat. Davidson and Mathews were both rather large white men and their followed their commander's sted and inclined their heads in greeting. It is getting late so it is worth thinking about where you want to stay the night but if you would like to visit any of the sites or review any of the information we can start now if you prefer.' Lieutenant Daily offered.

Yea I've been putting off doing one of these for ages but after a while, I thought there isn't any real issue if no one responds I'll just take it all out on you guys in character approvals. As it says in the title any questions for me or my characters are fair game but I don't promise to answer any of the more personal ones truthfully.

Calen tutted as Prism continued to technically incorrectly accuse him of spiking the coffee. 'I made the drink and choose to put alcohol in it, that's not spiking that's called having fun, it's unfortunate you are so new to the concept M.. Prism. We should rectify that sometime maybe with a less political topic of conversation.' Calen remarked with a sly smile, personally, there was little more that Calen would like to do than talk about something clearly getting under someone else's skin outside of perhaps fighting but it was clear the topic had lost its appeal to most here. It simply wouldn't do for Calen's ego to be refused and as such, even in his drunk state, Calen was in touch with the undercurrent of the conversation and knew when he had pushed a little too far. Calen did also smile widely as Prism said 'you guys were the original monsters,' in his opinion she was very right.

'Remind me never to get in a fight with you Master Smokey I feel I wouldn't do well with you as an enemy.' Calen laughed and patted Smokey on the pack in response to his perhaps a little overly dramatic sentiment. Not that Calen minded at all, however, prone to flights of overly dramatic sentiment himself it did a lot to form a connection where there might have never been one. 'I think the point everyone is making Master Cat is that all of this worrying about feelings and whatnot come after, a fighter lives in the present not just for their own safety as to avoid distractions but also because in that moment the present is all that matters. And it appears we are in agreement there' Calen intersected hoping at the compromise seemed adequate for all parties involved.

'I never said they were used in war I simply said they were used, if it is wrong to do something in times of war then surely it is also wrong to do it in times of peace... or civil unrest because obviously there has to be a reason to use the chemical weapons in the first place. My point was that there are circumstances in which we allow the deployment of chemical weapons and most of us don't question it despite all knowing it is a war crime. Perception of right and wrong have as much to do with how well someone can keep themselves ignorant of the subject matter and said consequences as they have with genuine morality.' Calen answers Cat in a much more straight forward manner than he normally does.

Calen laughed a bit at Prisms accusation that he was simply arguing for the sake of arguing, she was right of course but sometimes being right meant very little if everyone else was wrong. 'You aren't entirely correct Prism but there is definitely a grain of truth there. I am simply involving myself in the conversation to be polite rather than any genuine interest on the matter. But it does seem to be a topic that is drawing out a fair amount of aggression, that isn't always a bad thing of course but it isn't the best at four am and me being the only one drunk, perhaps a topic change is in order?' Calen asked happy to let the conversation slip back into less dramatic topics in the suspicions on him also lessen,
