Izumi Cremisi
« on: September 11, 2016, 11:44:32 PM »

CHARACTER

Name: Izumi Cremisi
Old Name: Hitomi Ketsugetsu

Age: 20, Born 4 Machlud 59 A.C.

Species and Gender: Human, Female

Symbol: -

Occupation: Obsidian Rose Member, Assassin, Thief

Appearance: Izumi stands at 5'6" and weighs approximately 130lbs. Her wine-red hair lays softly upon her head and extends to just below her ears, its parting mostly centered and sitting over her left eye. Izumi's eyes are rosewood and are ever vigilant, keeping tabs on her surroundings. [ ]

Her skin is light, nearing pale, with an average texture. Izumi's body and its measurements are fairly average as well with the exception of her muscles which are mildly prominent against the surface of her skin. [ ]

Izumi's casual attire is pretty simple, just consisting of a black tank-top, a scarlet-red half-jacket with sleeves ending just past her elbows, dark-blue denim jeans, black flat-heeled leather booties, and black leather gloves with the occasional blue baseball cap. When Izumi is feeling high-spirited, adventurous, fanciful, or some combination of the three, she instead dons a pine-green wool dress that falls just slightly below her knees, nearly-opaque black hold-ups, black leather boots that cover three-quarters of her shin, and black wool gloves. [ ] [ ]

Combat Attire: Heavily mission-dependent. Outfits revolve around being as light as possible while still retaining some semblance of comfort and utility. First and foremost though is the need for her outfits to blend into whatever crowd or environment a mission takes place in. In warm weather, she'll either wear no jacket or something light, and at the coldest, the thickest she is willing to wear is a parka. Anything thicker will impede her agility so she will only do so when necessary. Her bottom wear usually consists of jeans, though skirts are sometimes necessary. She will wear a pocketed vest and/or cargo jeans if she needs the extra carrying capacity which would be used for Dust and other miscellaneous items. Her footwear is dependent on the rest of her outfit but it's usually either sneakers, leather boots, or combat boots. There's also a chance that she will being wearing some sort of mask or hat.

History: Izumi was born as Hitomi Ketsugetsu and her early life was uneventful having been born to a pair of mostly normal parents. When she was little, she dreamed of being either a gymnast or a Huntress (mostly the former). Despite having her doubts about becoming a Huntress, Hitomi trained equally hard for both possible careers, settling at slightly-above average skill among the above-average crowd in both respects. With that, she was content.

When Hitomi was eight years old, crime in her area starting ramping up across the board as multiple small-time organizations started trying to establish, and it was during this time that life as she knew it would end. On the way home from work, Hitomi's mother disappeared into the night-no witnesses. It was letter when her father received a letter that they found out that she had been kidnapped; the organization had earlier demanded protection money from the family and her parents refused to pay. The organization took it upon itself to put a little incentive into it while also increasing the amount of cash they demanded. Against instructions, Hitomi's father notified the police of the situation before going out to pay the ransom. Unfortunately for him, the group caught wind and took his life as punishment.

With no living relatives in Vale, Hitomi was whisked away to an orphanage and, for a year, she rotted away. When she had first arrived, she tried to stay strong by putting up a cheerful front, but with each passing day, her smile was slowly chipped away as her reality sunk deeper into her. Her once dynamic days grew cold and repetitive, and the efforts of the staff to stem the tide of this change were ineffective.

One day, a peculiar man came through the orphanage's doors. He spent some time speaking with the matron before making his way to Hitomi. He introduced himself as Alba Cremisi, and he had been looking to adopt a child for several months. When he had learned about Hitomi, he believed he would be able to help her despite everyone else having failed to do so. A month and many bureaucratic hoops later, Hitomi would again be a daughter.

Hitomi wasn't sure how she felt about the change in her environment. She had acknowledged the orphanage as a home befitting of her, but on the other hand, she was living in a household again. Still, there wasn't much she could do about the situation so she accepted the change without much of a fuss.

Though Hitomi had a new home, her demeanor remained unchanged despite Alba's best efforts. He tried everything he could, and yet nothing was able to crack her exterior, not even the age old remedy of time. Alba was forced to use the last remaining card up his sleeve: Satisfying her underlying desire for revenge. The mere mention of it pinged something in Hitomi's mind and heart, and she pounced at the idea of it; Alba was afraid that would be the case, but he reluctantly continued. Alba gave her a deal: If she really wanted it, Hitomi would have to train for eight years, the first four being with him and the last four being at Signal. Hitomi, without hesitation, accepted the offer, and once again, had a goal to reach out to, even as vulgar as it was.

During her time training under Alba, she noticed that he was more experienced and skilled than he had initially appeared, but she didn't think to question it. Hitomi endured Alba's harsh training without debate. He taught her as much as he could before she went off to Signal where her combat and social skills were refined (though she still avoided interacting with others). Thanks to her prior training, she graduated from Signal with minimal difficulty.

When Hitomi returned home, she was greeted with an Alba who was standing next to a seated stranger--a woman with light-blue hair and a sharp gaze; the woman went by the name "Shadow", a codename seemingly conceived from the woman's dark attire, and had come to meet Hitomi in-person. She offered Hitomi another deal, juicer than that of her foster father's: She would allow Hitomi the opportunity to carry out her revenge, and in return, Hitomi would pledge her services to her. Hitomi wasn't sure what exactly such a deal would entail, but while somewhat reluctant to do so, she accepted the offer. Alba, disheartened, did not say a word.

The following week, Hitomi found herself in front of a warehouse accompanied by Alba. With a pounding heart, she entered the building, Alba following her at a distance. Inside, the warehouse was as she expected: Quiet and pitch-black. After she took a few steps inside, the lights switched on and flooded the space before her. The space was entirely empty save for a single metal container in the center of the room, muffled voices emanating from within it. Not a moment after, two loud clicks echoed through the building and the container's doors opened.

The first person that stepped out was a man who seemed familiar, and as he yelled something indiscernible to his mates, Hitomi's mind returned to her past, and it was there she recognized him as the man who had initially made the offer to her family. While the apparent prisoners were still preoccupied with themselves, Hitomi blindly charged in, and without a moment's hesitation, completed her life objective, a few percent at a time.

What began as a decently-sized group turned into a single man quivering on the ground, the one she had remembered. Shadow, having watched from the rafters, landed behind Hitomi with a soft thump. She asked if Hitomi was satisfied with herself, if she was satisfied with herself, but Hitomi couldn't answer.

"We have all lost something once, but the past is set in stone. There's no use in trying to change what has already been done."

Shadow motioned for Alba to toss her a knife. He did so, and in a motion Hitomi couldn't perceive, the blade went from her hand into the man's chest. Shadow sighed and said that there were people already on the way to take care of the mess and promptly left. Alba saw Hitomi out.

With her goal having been met, Hitomi had nothing to strive toward, and felt emptier than when she had started her quest. With that, she tossed her old identity behind her, perhaps disappointed in herself for what she had done, wondering if her parents would be feeling the same way. She accepted what she and her life had become: she adopted her foster father's surname, Cremisi, and decided to go by name Izumi for no other reason than liking the sound of it. As agreed upon, she joined Obsidian Rose, but she wasn't sure if it was actually worth it.

Personality: Izumi has a dominate and a dormant persona. Though they contrast heavily, they are not split personalities.

The dominate persona of Izumi is, well, Izumi. Although she has been moving slightly toward a more neutral position, Izumi is regarded as cold and isolated due to her line of work and her past. She isn't hostile but she tends to act in a way that repels most other people. As a result, she has no friends and few acquaintances but she isn't too mindful of it.

When interacting with others, Izumi tries to keep it to a minimum as she isn't interested in mincing words with them (unless she's in the mood to mess with them). She speaks bluntly and will often not consider or willfully disregard the feelings of whomever she is interacting with. The only people she is willing to have prolonged conversations with are a few members of Obsidian Rose, mainly those that are acquainted with Alba, or anyone that manages to pique her interest, and it is with these people that she tends to speak more freely and naturally.

Having already fulfilled her end-goal, Izumi no longer looks towards the future and prefers to live in the present as she pleases. She is impulsive by nature and will often do things on a whim's notice; this has gotten her into trouble a couple of times, but not enough to deter her further escapades. Izumi is also pretty straightforward in that she tries to brute-force things with her strength or will alone. If her efforts prove fruitless, she will then move on to try more creative ideas; she does not give up easily though.

The dormant and base personality of Hitomi is her old self. Hitomi is much more warm, endearing, willing to get to know and befriend others, and ready to aid those in need. She is understanding and accepting of those that are different from her and will stand up for those who are bullies or oppressed. As a result of all of this, she tends to be at or near the center of most circles and cliques. It is this part of Hitomi that bleeds into Izumi when Izumi is being friendly with others.

Hitomi would live more selflessly then Izumi. She would to leave behind a positive legacy, and if necessary, she would be willing to sacrifice parts of herself for it. Though many would consider her world views to be optimistic or idealistic, she also has a good understanding of, and remains grounded by, the world's realities. She knows that she can't reach her goals and objectives 100% of the time, but she still tries her best to do so.

Moving to a broader view, Hitomi is also runs on impulse and instinct, but unlike Izumi, Hitomi tries to find a good balance between her logic and instinct, and she usually acts in a way that either satisfies the conditions of or finds a compromise between the two sides.

Note: Dormant Hitomi very difficult to bring back.

Aura and Semblance:
Vermillion (#E34234)

Simply glyphs with a casting range of zero(contact). Izumi can work around this by sending her spells through a propulsion glyph. Theoretically, she can shoot a single Dust spell as many times as her Dust supplies allow, but realistically, she can comfortably shoot one spell up to four times with a propulsion chain. When the spell reaches the end of the chain, it acts in the way that Izumi desired when she fired the shot (she can exert her will at the end as well, but it takes much more concentration as would be expected). Each jump takes about half a second and leaves a visible trail behind the projectile as it travels, the trail's visibility diminishing (decreasing opacity) with each jump (last jump of a chain is always 20% opacity except when there is only 1 jump; the opacity of the first jump roughly follows this formula [opacity = 0.2 + (0.1)(n-0.5)(n+1/n)] where n = total # of jumps.

Combat Behavior: Despite having opposing mentalities, Izumi and Hitomi's fighting styles are fairly similar. They are both attack-oriented fighters and aim to control or overwhelm their opponents with a flurry of attacks, usually creating an opening in their opponent's defense.

Izumi is more of a solo fighter and much more aggressive than Hitomi; she uses all the tools at her disposal to burst down her opponents as quickly as possible and if needed. When necessary, Izumi often starts fights with her semblance, using it to divide the attention of her opponent and create space for herself to move in for the kill. If she is feeling particularly impatient or aggressive, she will go for her opponent soon, if not immediately, after she uses her semblance. If her opponents catch on to her moving in, she uses her agility and abilities to keep herself safe as she finishes closing the gap. When Izumi gets in close, she immediately targets vitals if she believes her opponent is inferior to her. When they are perceived to be equal or superior, then she is a bit more careful and goes for disables as well or anything to break their defenses. Izumi relies heavily on tempo, so if her opponent were superior to her in that regard, were to break her tempo, or were to withstand her aggression then she would have a much more difficult fight ahead of her.

If Izumi gets particularly carried away (very rare), she may enter into a mindset that relies completely on her instincts. Doing so increases her ability to dodge and take advantage of opportunities. She also is able to take more hits, but in doing so, she leaves herself open to anything that she would normally avoid that could be especially debilitating.

Hitomi, while also an aggressive fighter, tries to take a step back and let her logic do some work in the way of building a plan based on what she knows or learns from her opponent through combat. Hitomi's plan can end up similar to Izumi's battle 'plan' in that she aims to overwhelm her opponent, but she is also able to think outside the box and incorporate other factors like the environment into her strategy. She only gets in close when her plans call for it or if she believes she is guaranteed victory. Unlike Izumi, Hitomi is more resistant to changes in battle tempo since she puts more thought into her fights.

Hitomi tries to have fun with her fights, and when possible, tries things she has never done before just to test its effectiveness. Sometimes she surprises herself, but more often than not, her ideas are usually either duds or too specific to the point of impracticality.

Despite their different approaches to combat, they do share a few weaknesses, the first being that both can take very few hits. While they aren't necessarily frail, her body simply isn't built to endure many heavy blows, and on top of this, those of their (or at least Izumi's) occupation wouldn't normally be taking many hits anyway. Their second and third weaknesses are tied to Dust: They have no ranged capabilities that aren't related Dust or aura related, and this leads into the fact that, without Dust, her offensive capabilities are greatly reduced to just hand-to-hand combat.

WEAPON

Name: Shi no Haaku

Primary Form: A pair of gauntlets with dark-red steel plating around black chainmail gloves. Various small tubes are within gauntlets running from the tips of the fingers to the base of the wrist where the Dust compartments are located. Izumi regulates the Dust flow with her aura.

Dust Functions:
Key
{F} = Fire
{L} = Lightning
{I} = Ice
{E} = Earth
{R} = Repulsion
{P} = Propulsion
Bold = Actively Used
Normal = Semi-Actively Used
Italics = Hardly Used, Very Specifically Used, or Little Practicality

Abilities: ShowHide
{F} - Burning hands, burning glyph
{L} - Shocking hands, fry electronics, stunning glyph
{I} - Ice weaponry, usually claws, slow/root glyph
{R} - Punches with knockback, repulsion/shield glyph

{E} - Reinforcement (+durability), stabilizing glyph
{F}{I} - Create water (steam is fire-sided), flooding glyph
{F}{I}{P} - Jet of water, spout glyph

{F}{E} - Create lava, lava-flooding glyph
{F}{E}{P} - Spew lava, lava-spout glyph
{L}{R} - Shock and knockback

{I}{P} - Shoot ice projectiles
{I}{P}{E} - Shoot fortified ice projectiles, greater ice-root glyph
{I}{E} - Reinforced ice weaponry, ice-root glyph
{E}{R} - Greater reinforcement and defense, greater shield glyph
{E}{R}{P} - Bubble-shield glyph
{E}{P} - Reinforce from distance (typically 5')
{R}{P} - Fast punches with knockback, jumping glyph

Dust Usage: Each gauntlet has enough fire Dust to shoot approximately 7 fireballs. Assuming the amount of fire-propulsion Dust is "x", then lightning, earth, repulsion, ice, fire, lightning-repulsion, and repulsion-propulsion are 70% of x. Ice-earth is 50% (~5 full ice-claws). Ice-earth-propulsion is 100% (~10 shots). Propulsion is 250% (in context with semblance, ~28 Dust-bouncing glyphs).

Izumi is able to splice together different Dusts on the fly as well as alter her aura to emulate Dust. Everything in bold is what she prepares and has readily available, the base compounds being a given. Everything else is spliced on the fly.

History: There are many things that Izumi could've used as a conduit for her casting, but she chose gauntlets because they are nice and intimate. The weapons were engineered at Signal.

Bold = Actively Used
Normal = Semi-Actively Used
Italics = Hardly Used, Very Specifically Used, or Little Practicality

[spoiler=Abilities]{F} - Burning hands, burning glyph
{L} - Shocking hands, fry electronics, stunning glyph
{I} - Ice weaponry, usually claws, slow/root glyph
{R} - Punches with knockback, repulsion/shield glyph
{P} - Fast punches, speed glyph
{E} - Reinforcement (+durability), stabilizing glyph
{F}{I} - Create water (steam is fire-sided), flooding glyph
{F}{I}{P} - Jet of water, spout glyph
{F}{P} - Jet of fire, fireball, flame-spout glyph
{F}{R} - Explosion (dangerous; probably will never be used in the foreseeable future), explosive glyph
{F}{R}{P} - Explosive fireball
{F}{E} - Create lava, lava-flooding glyph
{F}{E}{P} - Spew lava, lava-spout glyph
{L}{R} - Shock and knockback
{L}{P} - Shoot electricity distance dependent on amount of {P} used  (typically 1'), fry electronics
{L}{R}{P} - Above + knockback
{L}{E} - Slight magnetism, magnetic glyph
{I}{R} - Create snow, snowfall glyph
{I}{R}{P} - Snow shower, explosive ball of ice, snow-spout glyph or flash-freeze glyph
