The Emerald Forest.
There were many tales to be said here as well as tragedies to be known. The forest held many stories of Grimm being exterminated as well as blood being shed upon the corpses of those who had fallen. It was here, at the entrance to the forest, that Oberon watched and waited. Receiving word that a new team had formed and to do their initiation mission for them, Oberon couldn't help but let out a sigh. How long have I been doing this now, I wonder... he thought as he looked up at the gloomy morning skies. With autumn passing and winter settling in, the trees had shed most of their leaves and looked like a maze of branches that spread for miles. Looks like it'll snow within the next few days he pondered as his breath came out like a mist that lasted for only a moment before it was gone.
Taking out his Scroll, he took a look at the list of students that were to go out on today's mission. Conner Dragovic, Rackley Winchester, Sandy Smoke, and Anza Burgundy...hmmmm... he thought as he looked over their profiles. With each of them receiving around average to above average testing results, there wasn't too much that stood out about them. Two close-range fighters and two long-range fighters. With discipline, this could turn out to be a pretty decent team. Putting his Scroll away, Oberon pulled out a cigar and lit it. Taking a few puffs from it, he folded his arms as he waited for the students to make their way to their meeting point.

Conner was the earliest up as he almost always was. He had checked his gear earlier last night and proceeded to walk to the destination. Just so he can get all that he needed from his gear, he decided to leave his mask off as he walked along the trail.
Conner kept at a steady, almost marching stride to save his energy for when the mission got under way. A good near hour later he was able to get to the destination and Conner saw the teacher. He walked over to him and proceeded to lean against a tree while he waits for the rest of his team.
"Morning, Sir." Conner said. He wanted to get on the teachers good side but deep down Conner just wanted this mission to just get started already.

Anza stretched her arms, sauntering up to the teacher. She yawned, clearly not in her best form possible. It's not that she hadn't slept because she was nervous or excited - she had just felt the need to really explore Beacon. She had visited every hall, every courtyard, every rooftop, and come to the conclusion that Beacon is pretty fucking awesome.
Still, she had to be ready for battle. This was one of the most important days of her life, after all! As such, she flicked her semblance on and off a couple of times to get the sleep out of her eyes. She then looked at the two people already present, the teacher and one of her brand new teammates.
"Yo."

As the 3 stood around a small rustle in the trees could be heard before a kahki clad figure burst out of the trees into the air above them. As he glided through the air Sandy arched his back into a slow backflip before landing on one knee in between the tree line and the professor. As the rush from the high velocity swinging through trees died down Sandy once again registered how bloody cold it was and his cool (at least in his mind) entrance fell apart as his arms crossed and grabbed his shoulders rapidly moving back up and down.

Please don't be late. Please don't be late Rackley thought as he quickly made his way to his destination. He had spent the morning working on his introduction as he would be meeting his new teammates today and, due to his own timidness, had forgotten to look at the time. Thankful that his pack was prepared the night before, he had quickly grabbed everything he would need and sprinted to the Emerald Forest. Weapons? Check. Ammunition? Check. Rope? Check. A days ration of food and water? Check. First aid kit? Check he thought as he went through the list of important things to have.
Following the treeline of the forest, Rackley came to a dead stop when he saw everyone was up ahead. Late...just great... he thought with a sigh as he walked towards the others, his shoulders slumped with shame. Shuffling past what looked to be his other teammates, he kept his gaze down so as to not draw too much attention. Taking a glance at the professor, Rackley simply scratched his head, feeling awkward all of a sudden. Greet them, say something! he thought angrily to himself. "M-m-m-morning" he stammered, trying to muster up every ounce of courage to talk to the others. "S-s-s-s-sorry I'm l-l-late" he mumbled in a softer voice.
As each student made their way to the meeting point, Oberon activated his semblance and simultaneously marked each of them. As a pale whitish orange aura began to glow around each of the students, though only visible to Oberon's eyes, he simply nodded to each of them as they made their first impression. What a unique group of students he thought as he looked from one to the others. "Well then! Now that everyone is here, how about we begin?" he said gruffly, taking his stance before each of them. Clearing his throat while holding his cigar in his right hand, Oberon took a look at each student again. "As I'm sure you're all well aware, today is you team initiation. Your team has been handpicked by Headmaster Alban and, if you look around, you can see who each member of your team is." Gesturing at each student as he talked, Oberon proceeded to take a quick puff from his cigar. "That said, my name is Professor Oberon Falcov" he said, placing his hand on his chest as smoke enveloped his face briefly before disappearing. "And you will be forming Team Crystal as of today. Now that introductions are complete, I will give you your initiation briefing."
Pacing slightly as he walked in front of them, Oberon took another puff before continuing. "Your initiation today will be much like a team mission you would take later on as you progress through Beacon. I will be assessing each of your combat capabilities, teamwork abilities, as well as your capability to complete the mission. Your mission today will be a simple Search and Destroy mission." Taking a pause to clear his throat again, Oberon let everything sink in briefly before continuing. "About three miles Northeast of here, there is an old abandoned dust mine that was overrun by Grimm a few years ago. The owner of the mine has decided that they would like to have the mine re-taken back and so they've requested for a team to go and investigate the mines and, if possible, to clear out the mines so that they can move back in."
Pulling out a map of the mine as well as a flare gun, Oberon handed them to Conner. "The staff has decided that the Mine should no longer be infested as it was a few years ago, but there should still be some Grimm taking residence inside as well as within the vicinity of it. You should primarily run into some Beowolves, some Creeps and possibly a Predator or two. At worst, a Deathstalker or a King Taijitu may have taken refuge in the tunnels to get away from the cold, but it shouldn't be too difficult to deal with." Taking another puff and blowing the smoke away, Oberon took another glance at the students. "The mission as a whole should take anywhere between six to nine hours to complete. Once completed, you may simply use the flare gun and an Airship will be sent in to retrieve you. Now, any questions?" he inquired, arching an eyebrow at the students before him.

Conner raised his left hand slightly, a small metallic gleam could be seen from the gap between the gloves he wore specially for today's mission and the sleeve of his jacket.
"Yes sir I do. Two questions. How long do we have as far as a time limit is concerned, sir? If so are we allowed to use any means necessary, even go as far as to collapse one of the tunnels?"

Anza observed as the rest of her teammates arrived, both making rather... peculiar first impressions. She couldn't help but snicker at that. She listened to her teacher, and turned to he new teammate at his question.
"Well, Idunno about the owner pf the mine per se, but I wouldn't really be a fan of someone blowing up a part of my property. Should probably leave that to a minimum, yea?"

Listening to both Conner's question and Anza's response, Oberon simply nodded in agreement. "You will have the whole day to complete this mission. However, as I mentioned earlier, it should only take about six to nine hours to complete. As for taking any means necessary: you are allowed to do whatever it takes to complete the mission, which is to eliminate all the Grimm, not destroy the mine in the process. Since this is a mission from a more prominent figure in Vale, I would suggest you do your best to not destroy any tunnels." Taking a puff from his cigar, he let the warmth settle in his chest briefly before letting it out. "Any other questions?" he asked, looking at the other two students.
Listening intently, though looking at the ground the whole time, Rackley simply nodded his head as he heard the others talk. Makes sense on not collapsing the tunnels, I guess... he thought as he looked up right as the professor spoke and looked at him. Averting his eyes back to the ground, Rackley simply shook his head, indicating that he had no questions to ask. Best we get this mission started so we can finish it quickly and efficiently he thought, making a mental note to try and talk to his teammates while they made their way to the mine.

While the conversation was happening Sandy was standing in the corner shivering and rapidly rubbing his arms. "ok ok ok. Can we please get going it is bloody cold up here."

Conner looked at the people who would be his teammates. He sighs as he looks at the one who decided that it would have been better to make a flashy entrance rather than be sensible. He drew Dragonslayer while it was in its claymore form and shifted it to its bearded ax form. He then remembered the location and decided to hand everyone a gas mask.
"Take these and put them in your pack. I'll give you guys the word when to put them on."

Anza takes the mask and looks down at it. "Er, what're these for, exactly? Dust smoke or something? Seems a bit overkill, really." She says, then nods to Sandy.
"Yea, I vote we get goin'. Don't got all day. No, shoot, we do. Still, let's not dilly-dally." The girl said, taking her bow off her shoulder.

With no further questions from the others, Oberon simply nodded and moved to the side, giving everyone access to enter the forest. "Very well then. You are all dismissed. I will await your return at the top of the Beacon Cliffs." Taking his cigar, he took another puff as he watched the students leave.
Seeing that everyone was ready to move out, Rackley took the gas mask from Conner, equally perplexed by it as the others. Not wanting to make a fuss over things, he simply put it away in his pack. Despite his nervousness of being around people, Rackley was excited to start this mission. The fact that they would be going through a forest placed him at an advantage as he was used to hunting in forest terrains as this one. The Mine would prove to be the most difficult part as he wasn't sure how he would hold up against the enclosed corridors, but he looked forward to the challenge it presented. Mustering up his courage, he took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Sh-should we g-get going?" he asked, slowly edging his way towards the forest.

Sandy took the mask and put it into his backpack with a perplexed look on his face. "What the hell would we need these for? Something one of your weapons does? There really isn't much need to hide what you can do. We are teammates right? Hearing the comments of the quiet guy caused Sandy to turn on his heel. "Sounds good to me mate. Might as well talk about what we can do on the way so we know what we can do once we arrive.

Anza followed the group along, her bow in one hand and an arrow in the other, ready to be knocked.
"Poison gas, huh? Is it something ya do as a ranged attack or more close-ranged stuff? I'm entirely ranged, and I'd prefer to keep m' eyes unobstructed, if at all possible. Helps with th' shootin'."

Hearing everyone so readily agree with him, Rackley was surprised, but was able to relax a bit around them. Maybe this won't be so bad... he thought as he followed the others into the forest. As Conner mentioned that his semblance had to deal with poisonous gasses, Rackley's eyes widened at the thought of being caught up in it. "I'm i-in th-the same boat" he mumbled, raising his right hand slightly while using his left to gesture over at Anza. Despite his weapons currently being in their basic form and not in it's rifle form, he knew that he would have to be ready in case they were ambushed while making their way to the Mine. That's right! We could get attacked by Grimm at any moment... he thought suddenly, casting a wary glance towards the trees surrounding the path as well as the skies as he continued to try and listen to the conversations around him.

"Poison gas eh. Shit. Does that even work on Grimm?" Looking once again at the timid boy who was scanning everything around him Sandy walked up and placed a hand on his shoulder. "You alright? Looks like your ready to piss yourself and we only just entered the woods." Despite his non-chalant demeanor noticing the boy had caused Sandy to prick up his faunas ears and listen out for any sound he could. He would be sure nothing caught them by surprise.

She then looks towards Conner. "That's probably a good question, actually- how are we gonna fight stuff, exactly?"

Startled slightly as both Sandy and Anza talking to him, Rackley stopped looking around to give his attention to his two teammates. "S-s-sorry...it's j-just th-that I've hunted in th-these woods before..." he started, looking around cautiously again while taking a deep breath to calm his nerves. "...and grimm seem to like to ambush unwary people so it's just habit..." he added quietly, embarrassed that he was drawing attention. Giving Anza a shaky thumbs up and a hesitant smile, he turned to look at Conner. "N-n-no questions here. Happy to keep moving" he murmured, mustering up his courage as he slowly inched forward. "I'm a g-good scout if you want me to go ahead a bit" he said, hoping that the others will be alright with him putting a little distance from them.

Sandy smiled at Rackley's words. "cool. Guess you know your way around here then. That's something I can do well too. How about you take the left of our path and I take the right?" Despite wording it like a question Sandy didn't wait for a response before grappling a tree on his left and swinging into them.

Conner looked at his teammates.
"Rackley, Anza, you two are on overwatch duty. Sandy and I will take point."
Conner drew Insight in its rifle form and loaded a magazine with anti-personnel rounds. He then motioned his teammates to start moving as he started walking down the path.

Pouting at a lack of answer to her previous question, Anza shrugged. "Heh, not sure that's the best o' ideas. I like doin' dangerous stuff and all, but takin' point might not be my strong suit." The redhead said, but still knocked her arrow and kept moving forward. Of anything, she should be able to jump back.

OOC: Sorry for the delay here! I've been really busy that I just haven't had the energy to keep up with posting. Will try to do better. That said, I'm going to do a small time jump so we can continue to progress the story.
Nodding to Conner as he took command of the situation for the team, Rackley jumped up into one of the trees on his right and proceeded to keep watch over the team as they made their way through the forest. Drawing Washi and Taka, he transformed them into Aoshi before proceeding further. Feeling the cold breeze blow against his cheeks, he shivered slightly as his body slowly adjusted to the cold weather. Despite the cold wind, Rackley always found that he enjoyed the outdoors where everything was living and free. If only the Grimm weren't around... he thought as he jumped from branch to branch in pace with the others. Jumping down from the tree he was in, he continued his pace as he walked quietly and carefully so as to not make any noises from stepping on a dead branch or leaves while keeping watch of the general vicinity. Finding another nearby tree, Rackley jumped up onto a branch to get a better viewpoint before moving forward.
1 hour later
After what felt like the entire morning, the team came within view of the mine. Looking over the area from a vantage point up high, Rackley took notice of a few nearby Beowolves that were prowling around the entrance to the mine itself. Noting what he saw, quietly climbed down and moved over to where he last saw Sandy. Spotting his teammate, he motioned quietly to get his attention before moving closer. "Th-the mine is up ahead. Sp-potted a f-few Beowolves, b-b-but aside from that, it looks deserted..." he mumbled, trying to stay quiet while mustering up the courage to talk. "Th-the others should b-be here soon. W-w-were you able to s-see anything?" he asked while still trying to keep a lookout for any ambushes or attacks.

Spotting Rackley Sandy hopped down from his perch. Backflipping on the way down and landing on one knee, letting his aura absorb the impact of such an impractical landing. "surprisingly little. I figured there would be more Grimm around. Hqng on a sec." Sandy then closed his eyes and activated his semblance. Scanning the area around them until he had a decent overview of where his teammates were and where any nearby Grimm were positioned.

Conner proceeded through the forest with Insight in hand as he kept his eyes open for any sign of danger that may have eluded whoever was on overwatch.
"Let's just hope that we can make it to the objective without any confrontation. That way we can conserve ammo, equipment, and energy."

Anza, apparently on overwatch, would've gone through the trees as well. She was quick and nimble, going from tree to tree with ease. She had to be, of course, as she could hardly take a hit.
An arrow always knocked in her bow, she was ready for action, occasionally flicking on her semblance to do a quick scan of the area. Almost surprisingly, their trip was uneventful!
She hopped down next to the rest of her team. "I got some doubts abou' that, partner. Grimm ain't really all that polite when it comes to stuff like that."

Rackley nodded in agreement to the others comments; there did seem to be a relatively small amount of Grimm in the area and all that did was send a slight chill down his neck at the thought that they could be ambushed. Though...I don't think Grimm are smart enough to make an ambush like that...can they? he thought as he nodded in agreement to Anza's comment. Clenching Aoshi tightly for a moment, he took a deep breath to help calm himself down before speaking. "It w-would be best if we send a couple people in to try and bait the few Grimm out into the open." Hoisting Aoshi up a bit, he smiled sheepishly. "I-I could provide support from one of the nearby trees" he added. Trying not to take all the attention, he averted his eyes away from his teammates and tried to act like he was scanning the area instead. "Th-that's just m-my opinion. Whatever you guys think is best though..." he mumbled. All in all, he was just excited to be out in the open and wanted to put his fighting capabilities to the test.

Anza gave Rackley a thumbs up. "Sounds like a plan to me! I guess I'll also be on support 'ere. Once those grimm come out here, they'll never know what 'it 'em!" The girl exclaims, before hopping over to a nearby tree and scaling it with ease, already positioning herself on a larger branch with her arrow knocked and facing the mine. She's quick.

Sandy turned to Connor and gave a wide grin "Alright then. Just make sure you can keep up." and with that he fired both grappling hooks at a rock wall behind a Beowolf and hopped so that he could be reeled in. Coiling his body as he flew he wpuld snap straight at the last moment so that both his feet wpuld connect woth the Beowolve's head. He put his Aura behind the strike hoping to utterly obliterate the Beowolve's head and shoulders. Once through the Beowolf he would release the grappling hooks and land in a roll before springing up and shouting. "Alright you soulless bastards! Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough!"

It took a moment for Rackley to process the thought that everyone had agreed with his plan. Huh...wasn't expecting that... he thought, scratching the back of his head slightly. He wasn't usually one to be exuberant, but the fact that his teammates were both friendly and agreeable had made him feel like he wanted to get along more with them and get to know them more. It was while he was in his thought process that he realized that the rest of his teammates had already begun to make their move. "Right...gotta take out the threat" he muttered, hoisting Aoshi as he ran quickly through the forest to find a sniping spot that would be a few paces away from Anza.
Seeing a tree branch that would give him a good view of the entire mining camp, Rackley jumped up and deftly made his up the tree and onto the branch. Putting his left shoulder against the trunk of the tree, he lifted Aoshi so that he was looking through the scope with his left eye while searching the area with his right. Waiting for the moment to strike, he took a deep breath and watched as Sandy grabbed the Grimm's attention.
Ripping the head off the first Beowolf that Sandy attacked, the shouts from the student was enough to draw the other Beowolves' attention. Letting out a howl, the other two creatures ran towards Sandy, teeth gleaming to taste the flesh of the man before them. As if the roar from the beast was a call to arms, the rest of the pack slowly emerged: six came out from the opposite side of the woods that Rackley and Anza were stationed while the remainder dozen or so clawing out from the entrance of the mine.
Spotting the six coming out from the forest and then seeing the group of Grimm coming out from the mine, Rackley fought down the sudden chill that crept through his spine. This is not simply a simulation...it's real life he thought, taking a couple deep breaths to calm his heavily beating heart. "Protect Sandy and the others" he said quietly, motivating his next actions. Focusing his first shot on one of the Beowolves coming from the mine entrance, he aimed and fired. Hitting the monster through the abdomen, the Grimm fell to the ground and began to dissolve as the others went around it. Cursing himself for picking his normal rounds first and not his explosive ones, he pulled the bolt back before readying himself to take the next shot.

Conner sighs as he saw Sandy flying off. He holstered Insight and drew Dragonslayer, shifting to its axe form. He headed to Sandy's location and saw one of the Beowolves come from the mine. He smirked as he rushed towards it. His first attack got its attention, but before it could even have a chance to fight back it was done. Conner leaped into the air and brought his axe down on the Grimm, cleaving it in two.

The redheaded archer grinned to herself, activating her semblance as the creatures of grimm started to show up. This was it, now, wasn't it? Her first major encounter with grimm. She held her breath for her first shot, her eyes lighting up.
Then let go.
The arrow whistled as it flew through the air, before striking a beowolf in the head. The creature barely even shuddered before falling and starting to disappear.
The girl was quick to draw another arrow, fire, draw and fire. Two more of the beasts would soon lie dead, though she didn't fire her next arrow yet, still flicking her semblance on and off. She wanted to keep firing, but she had to do what she had offered to do: keep overwatch. If any of them seemed to be a genuine threat to the others, she'd kill 'em real good.

Hearing the growl Sandy saw the 2 Beowolves he had attracted coming towards him and greeted them with a smirk. I'm meant to be a distraction anyway. why not show off. With this thought in mind Sandy drew and immediately launched an Ice grenade to freeze one of the advancing Beowolves in place while waiting for the other to approach. As it did Sandy adopted a south-paw kickboxing stance as he waited for the approach. Once the Beowolf was in range Sandy's left leg raised and he dropped his weight into a kick at the joint of the Beowolf's leg to force it to one knee. he then switched stance and sent his right foot forward with a punt straight to the creature's chin. He put his aur behind the strike hoping to carry his foot straight through the skull of his target. Following the dispatching of his first target he reached into his clothes again and withdrew a fire Rave Bomb. tossing it into the air Sandy fired a steel shooter into the glass orb and swung it over his head twice before he swung it at the Beowolf trapped in ice. Breaking the orb over it's head and causing an explosion.

Watching his teammates take down the pack of Beowolves one by one, Rackley caught himself staring in amazement at their skills. Realizing that he should be shooting and not staring, he took aim and fired at another one of the beast, his bullet ripping straight through its chest. Pulling the bolt back, he took aim at another one and fired once more, this time shooting it through the neck.
As the Grimm continued to close in on Sandy and Conner, Rackley fired two more shots, the first shot ripping one of the Beowolves' legs off and the second one putting it out of its miseries. It was then, as he was pulling the cartridge out of Aoshi, that Rackley heard a deep howl come from the forest. Looking towards the general vicinity of the howl, he spotted five more Beowolves come out of the forest, followed by one that was twice the size and much more armored then the others. Letting out another deep howl, the Alpha Beowolf charged behind the others straight towards Sandy, it's claws ready to tear his opponent apart.
"I think we got trouble!" Rackley yelled reaching down to pull one of his explosive round cartridges out. Slamming it into Aoshi, he pulled the bolt back and readied himself for the next barrage.

Conner heard Rackley and looked at the Alpha heading towards Sandy.
He switched Dragonslayer to it's halberd form and rushed towards Sandy. He managed to block the Alpha's left claw but it's right managed to get Conner.
"You stay the hell away from my team!" Conner looked at Anza and Sandy. "Gas masks! NOW!
As Conner said that he took a deep breath as he activated his semblance and exhaled a giant cloud of poison gas straight to the Alpha's face. He then quickly took his gas mask and put it on after he used his semblance.

The archer hurriedly produced a fire dust arrow from her quiver and knocked it. She aimed right at the big, armored one's chest and fired, drawing another regular arrow afterwards. The arrow would've hit it straight in the chest - not enough to kill it, but likely launch it back and stun it.
She took note of Conner's warning, but decided she still had time for a couple shots. While her teammate released the noxious fumes, she took two more shots, each aimed at a different beowolf. Both were aimed to incapacitate, as her comrades seemed perfectly capable of finishing the bastards off. At this point, however, she put on her gas mask, despite the fact that it would hamper her vision quite a bit. Probably beats dying, really.

As the strike intended for him was blocked by Connor Sandy leaped into the air aiming a spinning kick at the Alpha's chest. It was at that moment that Anza's explosive arrow slammed into the Beowolve's chest and the blast sent Sandy's slender form sprawling across the ground. Because of the blast he didn't hear the warning and was only aware of the poison gas once he saw it. Fumbling and panicking Sandy hurried to get his gas mask on though found the straps caught on his ears. Eventually he managed to get it on but not before he had inhaled some of the gas. Once his panic was over and the mask on Sandy was feeling the effects already and collapsed to one knee holding his throat as he gasped for air reaching down to pull the mask off to try and breath more.

Readying himself to take a shot at the Alpha, Rackley immediately heard Conner's yell for gas masks. Watching the huge cloud of poisonous gas emit out, he took notice of Sandy barely getting his mask on. Hopefully he'll be alright... he thought as he grabbed his mask and strapped it on tight. As the gas expanded and covered most of the radius of where they were fighting, Rackley listened to the painful yelps coming out from the Beowolves that were still alive. Unable to provide any form of fire support, he simply waited for the moment that he could begin to make out his targets.
After what felt like minutes had passed, the gas slowly dissipated enough so that he could make out a few of the Grimm that were clawing at the ground and faces, trying desperately to move around, but to no avail. Taking aim, Rackley fired a shot at one of the beasts, blowing the creature into pieces from his explosive round. Bolting back Aoshi for another shot, he waited a moment for the gas to further dissipate so he could have better accuracy and possibly take a shot at the Alpha.
Letting out another deep howl, the Alpha jumped back in hopes of retreating from the noxious fumes, but was unable to fully get out of its range. It's howls of rage turning into howls of pain, it desperately clawed the ground and rubbed its eyes in hopes of being able to see. Despite the successful attack with the gas, the remaining Grimm were still alive and clawing around in hopes of hitting their opponents as well as trying to look around.
(19 Beowolves remain. Each of them were hit by Conner's semblance and are momentarily blinded and having trouble breathing).

Conner coughed after using his semblance and saw that Sandy got hit at the last minute. He put Dragonslayer away and drew Insight.
"Shit! Anza help me get Sandy! We're taking him inside!"
He picked up Sandy and started carrying him inside with Insight trained on the entrance of the tunnel.

"Ah, shit." Anza uttered as she saw Sandy get hit by her explosion. It was a silly move to try and kick an Alpha like that, she thought, but she still felt responsible for it. "On it!" She called out to Conner, leaping down from the tree.
The archer hurried over to the two, sending three arrows towards nearby Grimm as she did, her shots striking their throats. Even if they didn't die instantly, they weren't getting up. She knocked another arrow, now by Conner and Sandy. If any one of those bastards draws near, she'll take them out. She looked towards Rackley, then. "Hey, fella, I think you oughta join us 'ere!"

Sucessfully getting his gas mask off Sandy continued gasping for air and as a result inhaled even more smoke before he felt someone picking him up and carrying him away though he couldn't see who with his eyes his semblance allowed him to figure out it was Connor and as a result allowed himself to be carried as he continued to struggle to breath and see.

OOC: So sorry for the delay!!! Life has been really busy and will continue to be busy until mid-June or so. Watching the others work on pulling Sandy inside the mine, Rackley provided cover fire by taking down a couple more of the Beowolves before nodding at Anza's remark about following. Jumping down from his perch he quickly ran through the pack towards the mine, all the while dodging between the thrashing Grimm that were still clawing around. Ducking under a horizontal slash, he came face to face with another one who's claws were coming down towards him. Moving quickly, he stabbed his bayonet into the beast and fired the last round in his magazine, blowing a gaping hole in the creature as it fell.
Making it to the entrance of the mine, he stopped next to Anza and turned to see where they stood against the remaining Beowolves. Not spotting the Alpha anywhere, the remaining Grimm seemed to still be caught up in the noxious gas. "I-I-I th-think we'll b-be good t-to go inside with th-the others" he stammered, glancing over at Anza before nodding his head towards the mine shaft that led further into the darkness ahead.

Conner keeps walking, carrying Sandy further into the mine. He sets Sandy down and leaned him against the wall.
"I got you Sandy. I've got something for you to take care of this."
Conner pulls out what looks like an inhaler and shakes it about three to four times and takes the cap off. He hands it to Sandy.

Anza gave Rackley a thumbs up and a wink, before hurrying into the mine along with the others. She hadn't gotten the chance to collect her arrows from the dead grimm, but she was still quite fine - 25 regular arrows, one explosive arrow, and all of her ice and lightning arrows still remained. She was almost surprised by how quickly and with little usage of her weapon they had dispatched the group outside of the mine.
She took position slightly ahead of the two already inside, knocking her arrow and scanning the hall ahead for any trouble. "Is he gonna be alright?" She asked, not looking back, but still feeling a bit guilty.

Fortunately for Sandy his semblance allowed him to see what was in front of him so he didn't do anything stupid with the Inhaler he was offered. Grabbing it he hastily put it in his mouth and puffed it twice before dropping it and gasping heavily for about 3 seconds before he felt capable of speaking in a hoarse voice. "Bloody hell. That stuff is brutal Conner." He then slumped against the wall and simply focused on breathing and letting his vision clear until he heard Anza's voice to which he immediately shot a thumbs up in her direction "All good over here." Despite obviously still not being ok he shot a confident smile in Anza's direction.

Seeing the others go further into the mine, Rackley grabbed a new clip and reload Aoshi, this time with a normal cartridge as he didn't want to accidentally cause more damage to the mine itself and risk it collapsing on them. Keeping an eye on the Beowolves outside, he slowly backed up until he was a few paces away from the others. Looking over his shoulder quickly, he let out a sigh of relief as it seemed like Sandy would be okay after a few moments. Turning his attention back to the Grimm, he noticed that they were slowly coming out of their blind state as a few of them looked to be trying to find them. "We m-m-may n-not want t-to stay around h-h-here too long" he stammered, motioning with his gun at the creatures outside. All he could hope for was that, as they got deeper into the mine, they wouldn't run into any dangerous underground Grimm. Considering the fact that Beacon was sending in a first year team to cleanse the mine, he was sure that it wouldn't be too difficult. However, he still couldn't get rid of an ominous feeling that the worst was yet to come.

He looks at Anza and Sandy and point to the both of them. "Anza will have to help Sandy as the medicine I gave him still needs more time to kick in."
He looks out at the Beowolves and takes a few out with half of the magazine of Insights rifle mode. "I'll take the rear guard and cover your six. Does everyone undertstand these orders as I state them?"

"So, we moving in, yeah?" she asked, looking ahead and continuing to try and scan the area with her semblance. If anything was moving around in that cave, she would see it doing so.

Despite the false confidence he was showing the group Sandy was perfectly willing to accept the aid in walking he was given by Anza. That said he did what he could to walk on his own, often failing and being forced to lean more heavily on Anza as they proceeded. "All good. Wouldn't surprise me if most teams had issues like this at first." Sandy's voice was still hoarse but it seemed to be clearing up a bit more as well as his ability to walk. As they went on he was starting to be falling onto Anza's shoulder less and less. While moving Sandy ensured to keep pulsing his semblance, It prevented him from tripping over anything and simultaneously allowed him to scan ahead of them. Even around corners.

Nodding to Conner, Rackley took a deep breath in an attempt to calm down his nerves. Being the first one into the Mine meant that he would be the first one attacked, should there be any Grimm lurking in the dark tunnels. You'll be fine...your teammates are right here with you... he thought, holding tightly onto Aoshi as he took the first step into the dark corridor ahead.
A few paces into the dimly lit corridor, Rackley stopped as he noticed what looked like a makeshift elevator that would lower them deeper into the ground. Holding up his hand, he turned to the others and motioned to the lift. "L-l-looks l-like we c-could take th-that to go d-d-down" he stuttered, trying hard to hide his fear, but not quite accomplishing that. Upon inspecting the lift, he took note of the cranking on the side, which looked like it was the contraption that would lower them down.
Testing the lift by pulling on the thick metal wire a few times, Rackley took a deep breath and stepped into the lift. Seeing how it easily held his weight, he looked to the others and motioned for them to join him.

Hearing Rackley's words, Conner took a quick glance at what he was talking about and gave his attention back to the corridor, managing to keep a slow and steady pace with the rest of the team while keeping his eyes focused on the corridor. "That may be one of our only ways of getting through this place. Lets err on the side of caution and take a few down at a time. I don't want to risk the team's safety. Rackley, form up on me. Anza and Sandy, you two have the first trip. I heard that it was able to support one person, and two might just be enough."

Feeling mostly steady at this point Sandy got off of Anza's shoulder, stumbling slightly as he did so. "I may have a safe plan." He then fired a steel shooter into the cave ceiling just above the lift. "This should keep my weight off it. And the lift'll be a safety net if I fall."

Anza gave Rackley a thumbs up and a smile, as the poor guy seemed to be scared pantsless. She then nodded to Conner and stepped into the elevator.
"You just be careful like that, fella! You're already hurt, and I ain't sure I'd be able to catch ya if ya do fall," she said, and then gave an awkward smile, "plus, I don't think a shoddy metal elevator would be the best safety net. So, uh. Don't fall, please."

Seeing Anza smile in response did help ease Rackley's fear slightly. Feeling a bit reassured, he got out of the lift and watched as Anza got into the lift and Sandy prepare himself for the trip down. Taking hold of the crank on the side of the whole lift, he looked at Anza. "I-If y-you're ready, I can let you d-down." Seeing that they both looked prepared, he looked at Conner and nodded before pulling the crank. The crank made some noise as it activated and the lift slowly lowered Anza down. "J-J-Just let us know w-when you're at the bottom" he added, as the others slowly disappeared from view.
All of a sudden, as if the sound triggered a trap, the howls from the Beowolves outside could be heard, but this time inside the Mine. Turning quickly to face where they had previously came from, Rackley looked nervously down the corridor and then at Conner, hoping that his team leader may have a battle plan ready in case they needed to hold their ground before they could go down as well.

Hearing the Beowolves howl Conner switches Insight to its shotgun form and loads a magazine with red tape on it. "Rackley, I need you over here.
Conner keeps his gun aimed down the corridor. "We have to hold the line. Make sure that Anza and Sandy get down safe."

Anza's eyes widened as she heard the grimm from somewhere above. As they began heir ascent, she knocked an arrow and looked up, shouting: "Y'all alright up there?! You need to get down as soon as you can, ya hear!"
With that, she took a breath and continued to scan the area below them with her semblance, arrow ready to strike any beast which would await them in the mines.

Watching the others go down, Rackley turned quickly and nodded to Conner and moved over to where he was standing. Aiming the barrel of Aoshi down the corridor to where the noise of the Grimm were coming from, he took a deep breath to try and calm down his nerves. You'll be fine...Conner is right here with you and he is much more adept at fighting in close quarters than you are... he thought, a trickle of sweat rolling down his neck as his body trembled slightly out of nervousness and fear.
A sudden movement down the corridor indicated the first Beowolf coming around the bend. Upon seeing it, Rackley immediately fired Aoshi, blowing a hole right through the Grimm as well as leaving a hole in the wall of the Mine. The noise from his gun going off in an enclosed area was increased exponentially, leaving Rackley slightly deafened in his right ear as he cringed slightly from the ringing. "G-g-guess th-that was a b-bad idea..." he muttered, laughing awkwardly as he tried to concentrate on the oncoming beasts.
OOC: 12 Beowolves remaining and making their way in a double formation down the corridor.
The lift will have both of you down at the bottom by the end of your next post.

Conner sees the Beowolf that Rackley shot and sees two more come down the corridor. He unloads three shells as dozens of flechettes are sent down the corridor and turn the two into pin cushions.
”Hold the line, keep ‘em at bay, get your squad out safely, and have their backs.” Conner mutters those words as a mantra to keep his focus.
He sees another Beowolf and unloads two shells aimed at the beast’s head, turning it into a reject 80’s horror movie monster’s pet.

Having reached the bottom of the mine, the loud noise from Rackley and Conner's gunfire drew further noise from below. As Anza and Sandy reached the bottom, the glimmering glow of many menacing red eyes welcomed them at the bottom. Letting out a cry, a group of Creeps proceeded towards Anza and Sandy, their jaws open wide for flesh.
Having the ringing in his ear clear up, Rackley proceeded to breaking Aoshi down to its third form and loaded a small clip from his belt into Washi. Taking aim at the next Beowolf to come around the corner, he fired a few rounds at it's abdomen, causing it to go fall down to its death. As two more came around the corner, Rackley unloaded the remaining bullets into them, killing one and wounding the other. Pulling out the empty cartridge, he put it in the small pack on his hip and drew another to reload. "Think they made it down yet?" he inquired of Conner, all signs of nervousness gone as he was focused on the incoming fight. Reloading Washi, he fired two more rounds into the wounded Grimm, killing it before turning his attention to the remaining Beowolves that were still coming down.
6 Beowolves remaining, one being the Alpha.
10 Creeps approaching Anza and Sandy with more incoming.

Conner stops muttering to look at Rackley then proceeds to look behind the two of them at the elevator shaft, returning his gaze back to the corridor. ”We have to make sure that they’re okay. Hope you have some gloves you don’t mind ruining because I have a gut feeling that we don’t have time to let the lift come back up.” He sees three Beowolves come down the corridor and fires three times. The rounds manage to take down the first and second one, but the third kept coming and managed to get within 15 meters of Conner before he managed to get another shot. This time the beast went down. Conner breathed a heavy sigh and kept his gaze on the corridor.
