Title: Let's try this again...(AMCA)
Post by: MonsterManic on April 27, 2017, 12:48:10 PM
So yeah, I kinda messed up my last one, so I'm going to try this again.

Usual things apply, ask my characters/me anything and I'll respond in kind.

You have quite a few characters so I was wondering if you think they would all get along as friends? Or are there some that would be annoyed by the others personality/hobbies etc.

Tina and Lunae would click, no problem. Guns and bullets are magnets for Lunae, so that's one pair done. Kei should be able to gradually warm up to Setsuna, provided the latter doesn't trigger any flashbacks. I feel like the person who would be left out, sadly, is Tieren, who wouldn't be able to really socialise with anyone well due to his temper. Maybe Setsuna would like to take his weapon apart and learn from it, I suppose?

Overall all but Tieren would be able to get along pretty well, I reckon. Tieren would have to find some Vacuans I suppose. (feelsbadman)

So far all your characters are Beacon students (which seem to be the most common for obvious reasons), but if you were to make a character at a different school which one are you most interested in?

It's a split between Mistral and Vacuo (Haven and Shade). Mistral because with the conclusion of season 4, we might get more insight into the culture of Mistralians, plus having threads happen in that massive mountain city would be awesome, while Vacuo because a sandy desert enviroment with rural bazaars, oasises and a scorching sun just pops into my mind, and it would make a big contrast to Beacon's civilised environment. I'm not choosing Atlas because an army-based regime for a school seems boring, plus snow-covered fields doesn't leave much to the imagination.

I do try and mix stuff up, having characters transfer or originate from different continents, but have yet to get one in a different academy. Maybe if there was enough support for a team from Vacuo/Mistral maybe.

What about their weaponry? Any of your OCs that have a weapon you're particularly pleased with? Any type of weapon that you havent used but want to at some point?

All my OC's weapons are loosely based off some other weapon, be it cartoon or real, but I have to say Kei's lance-rapier hybrid stands out among them. May not be able to transform into a gun, but I'm still happy with the concept and design.  Lunae was originally outfitted with miniguns, but was denied for obvious reasons. Still want to use that one day.

You mentioned before that Setsuna wasn't named because of it's similarities between that name and his semblance. Do you have another process to name your characters and what do your characters think of their names in universe?

The only thing I try to avoid is having multiple characters with the same starting letter of their first and last name (because of team names). Unfortunately Tieren got moved before I could rectify that mistake. Otherwise, I generally go with whatever rolls off my tongue.

As for your second question:

"Surely it had to be a coincidence that my Semblance turned out to be a speed one, right? Either that or my parents are psychics. It's a good name, though!"

"Being from a Mistralian family with long, lengthy traditions meant I was given a similar one to my ancestors. To be honest, I don't really mind. I get the odd look every now and then when I mention my full name, but it does make me stand out in a different way."

At this point in their mission, what does Tina think of Aurora? Of Gwylan? Of Nero? Of those three, who does she like and dislike the most so far?

All three have proven to be capable fighters, though Nero stands out for saving her from a potential injury. Aurora seems to be a natural leader (Albeit a bit racist) and Tina respects that role of command. Gwylan, being the only boy in the group, is a completely different matter, and she doesn't really know what to make of his flirtatious comments toward Aurora, mostly passing them off as unimportant comments. She feels the most trusting toward Nero since the aforementioned helped her get over her initial moment of panic, plus the life-saving moment, resulting in Nero being her most liked person in the group so far. As for dislike, well...

She doesn't "dislike" them, but feels more negative toward Aurora because of the incident on the Bullhead. Sorry Mythic.

In the right thread this time even.

Same question though, you have a lot of characters are there some you prefer to use over others, or are there some you wish you got to use more?

So far I have never used Lunae, which is sad since I feel that she has potential to grow further, and I can write for her with more confidence than I have with other female characters. Tieren, Graham and Tina have participated in at least one thread, so I do hope that I can use them in other scenarios. By far the most used are Kei and Setsuna, the latter by a large margin since we managed to complete the longest initiation on the site (at the time of posting). Jocelyn is kind of a special case but I have plans for her in the near future.

Do you wish that you could have used Diana more, and will you be more active with Bas coming up?

I certainly hope to get to use Diana more, I'm liking the way Bas is headed but think all other characters will take the second place at most. Unfortunately the team thread went completely dead and didn't luck out with any of the active plots.

Wanted to have someone at Haven with the new volume coming up but doubt I'll be using her more, but once she is approved and the stats are in a good place I may very well just start my very own banter thread (or two).

"Thanks Tina, I feel so loved! But anyways, the Beowolf was nothing, as I hate those things more than you would believe. As for the Bullhead, it may have something to do with the fact that my creator has a tendency to give disproportionate retribution to any sleights against them..."

... She ain't wrong...

Following in the tradition of asking other team CASA people about their characters, how does Jocelyn feel about her teammates, and what plans do you have for her character-progression wise?

(Forgive me for reviving a thread that hasn't posted in forever)

"Prism is one of the best people I have had the opportunity to know and interact with. To have gone through varying degrees of hardship before in her life and still be able to work her way independently into one of the most prestigious academies in Remnant is a highly remarkable and commendable feat, and she's a natural-born leader to boot, able to make decisions even under pressure. There's something about her that just makes me feel warm and happy inside...

Surprisingly, I don't actually mind Coco's...habits too much. It just doesn't bother me, for some reason, and it's pretty common to see others doing the same thing--Coco's are just more pronounced than others. Apart from that, he's a person I can say that I trust, and it's always nice to know there's someone you can lean on for support, both in and out of combat. It's kind of cute how he can be a little slow at times, and that's perfectly fine--sometimes you just want to take in the world at a slower pace than the others around you.

Amane is, for lack of a better term, a highly efficient killer. And sometimes, that's the only thing you need to stay alive in the world, and I can respect that. Ultimately, if we ever die fighting, she'll be the last one standing, holding back whatever the world throws at her and not giving a single damn. I think it's safe to say she's the best fighter out of us all, but underneath that I can feel she's a nice person too--it's just that I haven't seen much of her personality shine, which is understandable since most of our time's been spent in combat."

With the way I've been playing her, her death flags are at full mast already, and it's only been one thread. She'll grow up with the same ideals, perhaps become less emotional and more capable of holding her own, but within that she'll always be that same girl who protects, defends and heals.

And besides, her actual interests are being developed right now, aren't they?

With regards to the site in general or character RP, is there anything specific you've wanted to do but haven't gotten the chance to yet?

I'm currently working on a fairly long plot that's based around character development - specifically combat skills - which I think doesn't come up often enough. Apart from initiation threads, there haven't been many threads focused on helping characters improve their combat potential, so I'm hoping this will somewhat plug the gap.

Otherwise, probably get my students into longer-lasting teams / use my non-students more often, I suppose.
