Title: First Year 1v1 bracket- Round 1: Prism Skylark vs. Kisha Miles

”You know. I’ve been thinking about this.” Sounds of Hunter tapping on his desk were picked up by the arena. ”So far, we’ve only seen… How many? Five? Five Beacon students. Looking at the bracket, I’ve noticed that the rest of the matches are also between Beacon students.” Hunter’s chair creaks as he leans forward as his eyes suddenly got a lot more serious. ”We’ve only had one non-Beacon kid so far, so where’s our kids?” With no response, Hunter can only release a melancholic sigh and properly start the next match after delaying it with his revelation. ”Whatever. Prism Skylark versus Kisha Miles. Both from Beacon Academy.” Motioning for Prim to handle the environmental spinner, Hunter could only sulk in his seat.

Also quite disheartened by the total lack of Atlas students, Prim would comment saying ”Um...yes, I’m sure that all of our bright students are too busy on important military excursions to participate in the tournament. It’s a real shame, because we would almost definitely emerge victorious.” As the crowd erupted in laughter, Prim would quickly clear her throat and continue by adding “Anyways, here’s the environment spinner” As the spinner did it’s job, Prim would attempt to console her partner with a very awkward hug that thankfully couldn’t be seen by anyone. Despite being a constant pain in the neck, he was her pain in the neck.

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Desert and Oasis.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Prism’s side a ‘vast’ desert emerged featuring large sand dunes and, of course, plenty of sand to slow down combatants. Kisha’s side contains a sizeable pool of water surrounded by palm trees and more sand, although it is notably more flat than Prism’s side of the arena.

As the spinner finished its job and faded away, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.

(A coin flip has decided that Prism will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

Well.

Sand dunes and an oasis. Not really much cover to speak of for, and it's more than easy to trip and fall in either environment. And Prism got to navigate both environments in heels. To put it simply, Prism was at a bit of a disadvantage here - but that didn't mean she wasn't going to try.

Pulling Hawk's Eye from her waist and flicking a lever to transform the weapon into it's primary form, Prism spends a moment jogging up the tallest sand dune she could immediately find right out the gate. Coming to the top, she lowers herself to the sand and lays flat - she'd be invisible to anybody approaching from the other side of the arena, beyond the scope and barrel of her rifle poking over the edge of the dune. Taking a moment to quietly click the first cartridge of bullets into the rifle, she scans oasis on the opposing side of the arena - waiting for any sign of her opponent's emergence.

Hopping, almost jumping, Kisha entered the arena. Her whole body was tingling with excitement and the cheering cries of the audience only reinforced that. The construction of the battlefield seemed to be in her favor, even if she had wished for a little more cover. Cocoa still rested on her belt as Kisha came to an stop between a pair of palm trees and she looked quickly across the field.

"Okaaay... My opponent is invisible..." she murmured to herself as she put her arms on her hips. It didn’t look like she was worried about any upcoming attacks, and for the fact that she had just jumped through the door and into the arena a few seconds ago, she now stood relatively calm and relaxed, as if there was nothing to worry. And the reason was simple.

Kisha stood behind the middle of two palm trees. Although she wasn’t covered by the palms, the way she stood there was... odd.
Looking at the desert, she took one hand off the hip and held it to the side of her mouth, just to call out "Hey Prism, you're welcome to start!"

The hand still on her hip, now slipped back against her back and began to make slow circular movements, while Kisha waited for a response.

Prism watches carefully as Kisha emerges and situates herself between two palm trees. Her hand is behind her back, so she's definitely preparing something - it's just a matter of being ready to react to whatever she's holding. Prism shuffles slightly so her feet are braced under her, ready to leap up, and her wings are poised to flick up catch the most immediate breeze -

Kisha wants her to start? She'll start.

Two shots ring out, one immediately after the other. One's aimed for Kisha's head - might as well attempt the headshot - before the barrel of the gun flicks downwards, going for a simple bodyshot. No matter what she's preparing, Kisha's gonna be hard-pressed to dodge both.

Kisha saw Prism swung into the air and less than a second later, the two shots were heard. She had kept her hand at head height after calling for Prism, and as Prism swung up, just before she fired, her hand moved in an oval shape down.

The headshot went through the portal without any problems and landed through the portal behind her in the sand. The second shot, unfortunately for Prism, also went through the portal, it however was a close call.

"Oke, not invisible," mumbled Kisha as she pulled Cocoa off her belt and transformed it into it's tertiary form, a longbow. She grabbed an ice arrow from her quiver and shot it through the portal behind her, so it came out of the one infront and, hopefully, could surprise Prism. The portals weren’t transparent, so you could only guess what was going on between the two. On the other hand, she hoped the Prism haven’t noticed how her portals work. Without knowing if Prism already figured out her Semblance or not, she shot without further thought about it and with strained tendon through the portal.

The arrow flew out of the other portal and made its way to Prism, while Kisha, immediately after the arrow was fired, made both portals disappear again and already shot a new arrow, this time one without modification, but this one was purposely targeted slightly laterally to Prism, so that it would only graze her if she stayed in this position.

Okay, so Kisha made some sort of shield. Bit of a bitch to work around, but Prism had done it before, she could do it again. Then Kisha turned around to... fire her arrow through the shield? And have it come out the other side?

Fuck, portals.

It's pure get-out-of-the-way instinct that makes Prism jerk back, falling backwards onto the sand dune and watching the arrows fly overhead. Prism stares at the sky for a moment as she tries to comprehend her opponent's abilities - she can create portals, but she needs her hands to do it. There's windows of opportunity to strike, but they're very small, so she'd need to be fast. Right.  The hummingbird faunus shakes her head, bringing herself back to the present. She's found her way around what's seemed impossible before, she can do it again. No biggy.

Shifting to her feet and pulling her goggles down over her eyes, Prism's wings extend to their full length before a strong gust of wind comes whistling up the sand dune - not only enough for Prism to lift up and take off, but create a sizable sand cloud to hide behind. The hummingbird surges just high enough above the cloud to peak her head over and fire off another quick shot - this one hopefully unexpected, since Kisha's hands were last occupied on the bow - before dropping behind the sand cloud once again. Essentially, the world's deadliest game of peek-a-boo.

Kisha tried to locate Prism in the sandcloud, but to no success. She heard the shot of Prism's weapon, but was unable to dodge quickly enough and the shot hit her on the arm. She felt the shot but didn’t pay much attention to it.

The sandcloud now started to settle and Kisha could make out parts of Prism's body. Quickly another normal arrow was shot, but she didn’t leave it at that. Kisha had already opened a new portal and disappeared through it. The cloud of sand was also to her favor, because just before it had completely subsided, Kisha had set one of her portals over Prism's head, from which she now jumped out.

Cocoa said goodbye to her bow-form and the amazing 80cm long Greatsword blade had taken the place.
Her arrow was about to collide, and if Prism chose to dodge, she would have an opening to attack with the sword.

Tanking shots is not Prism's specialty, but when it came to dodging an arrow or facing Kisha leaping out an overhead portal, the choice is pretty obvious. She doesn't move out of the way of the arrow shot, choosing to just let it graze her as her wings open up, catching a harsh gust of wind that lets her leap a couple of meters backwards - letting her avoid the overhead attack of her opponent, just kinda leaving Kisha to fall. At the same moment she leaps backwards, she flicks a switch on the side of Hawk's Eye, transforming it into her glaive.

Right as Kisha is about to hit the ground, Prism slashes her glaive through the air in an upwards slash, launching a white crescent off the edge of the blade and aimed directly for her opponent.

Kisha missed and fell. It was a feeling of weightlessness, so pleasant and thrilling at the same time. For a second, Kisha even forgot that they were in a fight, and just kept falling, but then reached out in time and disappeared into one of their portals, only to roll out of the second one a few feet further in the back.
She hadn’t noticed that Prism fired an attack at her, and had only noticed it when she already disappeared through the portal. It was more luck than understanding that she could evade the attack.

Now it was a good opportunity to attack her opponent, but Kisha put her hand up towards the sky and stretched, as if she had just got up.
"Hey Prism, we should definitely do something together after that! How about we go eat something in this new coffeehouse which has opened up?"

She didn’t expect an answer, so she jumped back into one of her portals just after the words had left her mouth.
She came out of the portal behind Prism, greatsword raised up again for the attack.

Prism blinked a few times as Kisha literally stop attacking to chat, watching her stretch upwards. She personally wouldn't be opposed to getting coffee later, but like - now's really not the time. Note to self, hit up Kisha after the match is over.

Thankfully, Kisha's decision to attack Prism from behind is fairly predictable - not only do those portals make a very unique noise, and Kisha also needs to throw them to place them. Prism responds by turning on her heel the moment the portal opens to face Kisha holding the staff of the weapon perpendicular to her body and pointed directly towards her opponent. As the woman attempts in to slice at her, she fires the rifle still hidden within the glaive's staff. By raising her wings and catching a harsh breeze that blows in her direction at the same moment, she's able to effectively use the recoil of the shot to throw her several feet away, alongside issuing a point-blank at Kisha. She follows up by sweeping her blade through the air once against, letting loose an aura-enhanced crescent to follow up.

Kisha's attack was stopped by the shot and before she could prepare a new attack she was thrown out of the trajectory by the wind crescent.
A new portal made sure that she hit the ground without harm, where she then rolled off in the sand on the desert half of the arena. She was disappointed in herself for taking two attacks at once, but what really bothered her was all the sand that trickled from her hair as she got up.

Kisha reached her belt and picked up one of the silver-gray grenades attached to it. After pressing the button on the grenade, it began to steam gray smoke, which in no time covered her, and a large field around her in a dense smoke wall, making her movements unknowable for her opponent.
Still in the smoke,  she opened one of her portals, teleporting to her side of the arena, but stayed half-way inside the portal, as she shot one of her fire darts, before disappearing back into the smokescreen. Back in cover, she fired another arrow, which had no modifications, but one of her hydrogen grenades was attached to it, which would explode on contact with the fire arrow, if Prism decides to dodge and the arrows were to collide.

(Smoke clearing granted by Dexes)

Prism nods to herself as she manages to land not one, but two successful attacks. That's not any reason to let her guard up though - Kisha's already disappeared through another of her portals to who-knows-where in the arena. The peculiar sound of hissing is what catches the hummiingbird's attention next. Prism takes the opportunity to bound up the sand dune as her wings buzz to life, becoming an iridescent blur as a light updraft propels her to hover several feet above the top of the dune. Kisha's set off a smokebomb, obscuring the center of the arena.

Thankfully, smoke's not that big of a problem.

A light breeze blows throughout the arena, quickly wafting the smoke away. Prism just manages to catch sight of her firing  a red-tipped arrow through a portal, aimed towards her. Almost immediately she turns around to fire another arrow, this one with something attached to the tip, that's- that's- ohmotherfucker that's a grenade.

Either it's the fire arrow to the face or a grenade.

Prism whirls to the side just in type to avoid taking the fire arrow head-on, hissing as the flaming arrow scrapes against her aura - giving her just enough time for to create another harsh gust of wind, throwing her up and forwards towards the center of the arena. As the bomb arrow collides with the far back hardlight wall and explodes, Prism spends another moment staring. Well, uh. Don't let her nail one of those.

Flicking a lever on the head of her glaive the rifle transforms back into it's secondary form, scoping in on Kisha as she's focused on her bow, firing the final shot at her opponent before the updraft keeping her aloft envelopes her in another sandstorm.

Far above in the stands, more towards the back than not, Malina sat with an excitable Carmine. The two of them idley chatted about their old Vytal matches and Malina's upcoming one between blows from the students. It wasn't really unexpected for Malina to be here, she was, after all, an assistant teach at Beacon. She'd seen most of these kids at least once, even if not in her class or in combat. She wanted to use this opportunity to see the best of them in action but tickets were... expensive, even for a huntress and Beacon assistant. That and the fact that she'd gotten word that she would be moved to the aura class following the tournament soured her motivation to spend enough money to see all or even most matches

She'd settled for two sets of tickets in the first year 1v1 bracket, each from one "half" to the of the bracket and each leading to the finale. There were enough interesting possibilities on both paths that she didn't think she'd be disappointed by any outcome but, for now, she focused on the match at hand. Between words with Carmine, she kept her eyes on the combatants. She didn't watch their movements or technique, though she was sure it was interesting, she kept an eye on their aura and semblances, watching to see how they leveraged them in the fight.

Kisha tried to dodge the shot with one of her portals, but managed that only halfway, so the shot grazed her anyway.

The second portal was near prism, almost right next to her, but when she jumped out of it, she didn’t attack her opponent, no, she just jumped into another portal, which shorty after disappeared. Kisha created one portal after another jumping through them and make them disappear directly after by creating new ones. (Note: She can only have two portals open at a time, which makes the first one disappear as soon as she creats a thirdone) When she came out of another of the portals again, this time a little further above Prism, she decided not to attack again. That went on. Through one portal in, out of the other, all while being almost right next to Prism.

She became faster and faster and it became confusing, if you didn’t pay close attention, through which portal she came and through which she left. While many of the portal jumps went off without attacks, she still took every opening for an attack. Cocoa has already said goodbye to the Bow form again, but instead of the Greatsword, a dagger took the place. It wasn’t that strong as the sword, but way more effective in this situation.

Kisha managed to locate her in the center of the sandstorm, so there was no reason to keep it up - the cloud clears as Kisha begins to constantly leap from place to place, trying to confuse Prism. The hummingbird faunus spends precious seconds attempting to track her down and find where she went, before Kisha manages to nail a glancing blow with her dagger.

Nope, she can't afford to deal with this.

Another updraft kicks in, and Prism rockets herself out of Kisha's portal storm. Turning around so she could fire backwards, Prism scopes in on her opponent and fires off a single shot - even if she's dodging all over the place, it's worth a chance to land a hit - before coming to rest on the other side of the arena, several meters above the pool of water. She barely spares the water a nervous glance, before turning back to track her unpredictable opponent.

Satisfied that she could at least land one hit, Kisha once again made a portal appear in the air so that the built-up momentum could subside, before she reached out to create the portal, which brought her back to the ground. Completely unaware of the fact that Prism had shot at her, she dodged the shot through the last portal, back when she was still in the air.

Back on solid ground, Kisha shook her hands briefly infront of her, getting the tingly feeling out of it. She really wanted to save up this attack to the end, as it always took a good deal of her endurance, but she didn’t want to lose too much aura too fast without taking any of it away from her opponent.
With a quick glance at the huge holographic screen on the side of the arena, she could see that she was still the one with less Aura on her side, but at least she could close the gap a bit.

Kisha glanced at her opponent, thinking about what to do next. She didn’t miss that Prism flew over the water, and already got an idea. She didn’t know if this plan would work out, but it was worth a try. In a quick motion, Kisha created a new portal per hand, and while she left one with her, she threw the other to Prism, or rather to the pool. The portals were smaller than the previous ones, far too small for a human to handle. They were just big enough for a grenade to fit.
The button of the Hydrogen Grenade was triggered and thrown as quickly as possible through the Portal, through which it landet in the water pool on the other side. If her guess was correct, the grenade should go up in notime and produce a kind of gysier. Although this wouldn’t hurt, it would at least provide a distraction.
An ice arrow was already ready to be fired as Kisha closed the portals again, only waiting for the right moment.

Prism watches Kisha closely from across the arena. Her opponent's flung a portal towards her again while reaching for her belt, which contains a worringly-powerful variety of explosives. And that portal's smaller than the ones she's seen so-

Oh fuck, Kisha's going to throw a grenade at her!

Prism immediately takes off with a crack of her rifle to get across the arena, while reaching her hand for a pouch on her ammo belt. Leaving ripples on the water and a cloud of dust behind her in the sand as she zooms towards Kisha, her hand flicks a switch on the side of her rifle, causing the weapon to transform into it's glaive mode. She quickly loads something into the back of the blade, before twisting the staff near the head of the glaive - and if you're looking closely, the blade itself gains a frostlike sheen.

Faintly registering the sound of a boom in the background, Prism swipes her glaive through the air like she's previously done, sending a horizontally-oriented bright white crescent flying towards Kisha. The difference between this one is the fact that it's expending slowly, bolstered by Prism's winds - and trailing snowflakes, if you can see it from the back. Twisting the shaft near the head of her glaive again, the frostlike sheen flickers off - and Prism follows up with two more slashes through the air, flinging the same crescents towards Kisha that she's faced before.

Kisha leaned slightly forward into a fighting stance, as she could already imagine what Prism's next move might be. Her theory was proven right when she saw the crescent-shaped attack approaching. Wait, was this reinforced with Dust? Yes, it was!
She wasted no time and quickly forming a portal with each hand, throwing one of them forward, slightly behind the attack, and falling backwards through the one still with her, just before the attack threatened to hit her.

After successfully avoiding the first attack, she had barely time to react as the other two air cuts collide with her. The attack hauled her backwards, almost to the edge of the arena.

Kisha didn't waste any time when she stood up. The fight was fun, but it was time to get serious. Still with the bow in her hand, she fired one of her arrows. As with the arrow a few shots before, a small silver-gray ball was attached to it, only with the difference that this time it was one of the Smoke grenades. She knew that the Prism could blow away the smoke like before, but that gave her time and distraction, which was the main reason she had those grenades with her in the first place. The grenade detached itself from the arrow shortly before the impact, but still gave it the opportunity to hit Prism.

During this time, Kisha had also transported herself into the air, with the help of the portals, but kept her distance from Prism as she fired an ice arrow into the cloud of smoke to freeze it's inside.

Prism's so focused on the headlong assault towards Kisha that she doesn't manage to dodge the arrow as it glances past her, hissing at the contact. Unfortunately for her, she's widely enveloped by a cloud of smoke moments later - that arrow had another bomb attached to it! With the all-too familiar sound of Kisha portaling into the air nearby, Prism only has moments to act. Creating a sharp updraft, she simultaneously soars above the smoke cloud while wiping it away. And it wasn't a moment too soon - Kisha firing that ice arrow would've spelled disaster for the mobility-reliant faunus.

Turning in the direction of where Kisha teleported to, a wicked grin appeared on the woman's face. Her opponent may be able to teleport and all - but the sky was her turf. Prism slips around the glaive so that the blade is facing away from Kisha, firing a quick shot in her direction. In the same motion, she brings the blade back up and over, using the momentum to tilt into a harsh dive - and send another bright-white crescent flying towards Kisha.

Kisha managed to avoid the upcoming attack just barely with another of her portals, which lead her back to the sandy ground of the arena.
She was able to keep up well in the fight, but now she slowly went out of options. She had only one grenade per species left and could not afford to use those carelessly. The same went for her arrows, of which she still had some, but couldn’t risk using them all up, trying to shoot her opponent like this.
The sword and dagger form couldn’t be of much help in this fight as long as her opponent was in the air,,. so Kisha had to somehow get her to the ground, and more importantly, make sure she stayed on the ground.

Kisha stood in the open field, everyone could see her as she took one of her fire arrows out of the quiver and tucked it into the bow. A heartbeat passed, taking a deep breath before lifting the bow and pointing the arrow at Prism.
The attack was direct, one could think too direct. But that was her intention.
The arrow was shot and flew towards its target, though the velocity of the arrow was slightly slower than the arrows before. Not a second later came the second arrow, this time one with ice modification. The Ice Arrow was faster than its Fiery counterpart and also was set slightly higher. As the ice arrow caught up to the fire, the tips of the two arrows grazed, causing the Dust to set off. The reaction with fire and ice created a mistwall that instantly enveloped everything.

Still with Cocoa in the bow form Kisha created another portal and let herself be ported directly into the fog. Like the ones before, Prism would certainly hear and dodge the portal, but she was prepared for that. The fog was dense, but you could see light siluetten, especially fast movements. Hummingbird wings were no exception, but the target weren’t the wings themselves, but rather the shoulder blades, from which the wings were sprouting.
She had one of her lightning arrows hooked in the bow and fired it, but not before she saw the first movement in the fog to give her the highest possibility hit odds, all while she, since she had nothing that kept her in the air , slowly falling towards the ground.

As Kisha hits the ground, Prism slows her dive to a stop as she switches her glaive back to it's primary form, automatically scoping in on Kisha and firing a shot as she takes a moment to pause. Only seconds afterwards, Kisha's reaching for her quiver to draw an arrow and firing it, immediately following it up with a second. Prism tucks her wings in and automatically whirls to the side in order to dodge, before-

There's a sound of metal scrapping as the arrows collide midair as the blast of steam explodes outwards. Prism's midair maneuver is throw off by the resulting gust of wind, making the bird faunus appropriately give a squawk (thankfully hidden by the explosion), tumbling down and through the air - and only barely managing to recover herself as she hits a dune, rolling down slope in an incredibly-clumsy recovery roll.

She manages to get to her feet just as Kisha fires, avoiding the arrow by another split-second roll - though admittedly, it's still not pretty.

She comes back up on her feet at least, sand covering her everything - and visibly scowling, even through her goggles as she stares up at Kisha. Holding her rifle up towards Kisha with her left hand, she flicks a switch to transform it into it's glaive mode - the hand facing away from Kisha traveling to her belt and deftly plucking some mysterious object from a sidepounch. If you're really trying to ground me, then get down here and we'll have that melee fight you want!" She challenges. Following up her point, she thwacks the non-sharp side of her blade into her left hand for emphasis - and unknowingly to Kisha, performing a quick movement hidden behind the blade.

Kisha looked down at prism before she ported herself to the sandy floor underneath her. It was not until she arrived on the floor and looked at the large holographic board and at her and her opponent's aura that she noticed that she had taken more damage than she was aware of. Was she attacked without noticing? Maybe one of Prism't shots had gazed her as she fired the arrows.

Now on the floor, she still held a good distance to her opponent, cautiously waiting for the next attack. Sure, she had reached her goal and got Prism to the ground, but something like an open invitation like Prism gave her one, was more her thing, and she couldn't help but feeling a bit uncomfortable. After a short, deep breath, Kisha began to slowly approach Prism, still leaving Cocoa in her bow-form, but already holding her finger over the button that was leading to the transformation into it's dagger-form

Prism nods in satisfaction as Kisha drops to meet her, switching her stance to a more defensive one as Kisha cautiously approaches - she can't really blame her for being careful. Sliding one foot forwards, Prism reaches for her belt to pull off what looked like an ammunition clip, before turning the base of the glaive to face towards Kisha. Firing off a single shot towards her, Prism uses the recoil to spin around on one foot, using the momentum of the turn to bring her glaive around in a slash, a bright-white crescent flying off it.

Immediately after that, Prism brings the head of her blade down to tuck it underneath her arm, popping out the cartridge before reloading the one she was holding in her hand. All in one smooth motion, Prism managed to fire off two attacks and reload her weapon - turning to face Kisha in whatever she attempted once again.

I knew it! Kisha's voice said in her head as she jumped to the side, but the shot still managed to graze her arm. With barely time to react, she was able to avoid the aura crescent with a cartwheel to the side. And barely wasn't even understated, as the crescent caused some single streaks of hair to fly through the air and then eslowly sink to the ground.

After Kisha was done with her evasive maneuver, she reached over her shoulder in her quiver, took out one of her fire arrows and shot it. While the arrow was still flying, she switched to her dagger and started to run. The arrow was now just before the collision as she slipped past Prism, the sand giving her a little more momentum. She created a portal directly behind Prism, which faced in a slightly angled to the ground, while the second portal was not directly visible. And that was because as Kisha slided past Prism, she created the first portal directly under the faunus her feet. best case scenario would be for Kisha, that the arrow hit his target and the target shortly afterwards fell through the portal under her feet.

The portals were placed so that if Prism would fall through the one under her feet and came out of the other, she would directly fall right back into the first one again, create a loop in the progres.

Prism automatically jerks backwards with a flap of her wings in order to avoid the arrow. She's planning on tucking backwards into a roll, before coming up with a handspring to launch a retaliation against Kisha - which all would have gone to plan, if she hadn't immediately fallen into the portal that had opened up beneath her, noticing to late to avoid.

The first loop through is mostly confusion as she figures out what happens. The second makes her realize Kisha essentially boobytrapped her, and the third's spent shifting her glaive so it's perpendicular to her body. She waits through three more confusing loops of falling before she fires off her glaive as she goes through the top one, just managing to get the timing right to jerk her out of the loop .

She jerks onto solid ground - or at least, as solidly as you can describe the sand - with a clumsy combat roll, managing to come back up on her feet. She's breathing hard, and shakes her head as she tries to reorient herself before managing to focus on Kisha. It... might not be best to attack for a moment, as she figures out if the ground is solid or not. "Okay, clever trick. I'll give you that much."

After her plan worked out so well, she took a second to catch her breath and sorted her thoughts, which, as so often happens, flew wildly around in her head. Besides, the sight of Prism falling through the loop was also incredibly entertaining. But all nice things have to come to an end and that's exactly what happend when Prism saved herself with a shot from the loop.

"Heh, thanks" Kisha chuckled, but decided not to compliment the hummingbird Faunus back, there was plenty of time for that after the fight. Instead she tightened her grip on the dagger she held in her hand and started to charge forward. If Prism should decide to shoot, she would probably have an better chance to dodge the bullet than she had before due to the weight problems as well as the accompanied nausea effect.

Before Kisha clashed with Prism, she jumped once more to the side and then attacked Prism from her right.

Prism doesn't try to retaliate with her rifle, keeping it in glaive mode as her opponent closes the distance. The woman's moving in, dagger gripped in her hand, before she dodges to Prism's right to try to attack her - there's the opening she's been looking for!

For the first time since the match started, Prism moves into parry the strike. Her right hand slides up to the neck of the glaive directly beneath the blade with her left hand bracing it, moving quickly to prevent herself from being forced back onto the sand once again. The second the two weapons make contact, her right hand twists the neck of the glaive, before discharging the trigger - causing the blade to come to life with crackling sparks for the smallest of seconds, before immediately discharging.

Directly into contact with Kisha.

OhhhhHHH SHIT!

Kisha wanted to dodge but it was already too late and she took the full force of the attack. Just then, Kisha managed to create a gap between the two with a portal, leaving a distance of almost half of the arena. Shortly thereafter, the pain made itself noticable and she had to bite on her lip to not hiss. That hurt. That hurt a lot.

After a few heavy breathe Kisha turned back into a ready to fight pose. She's going to ignore the pain... somehow...
It bothered her that now, after she thought she had the upper hand, was foreced to the defensive, and had no choice but to switch to her bow and create another portal to expand the distance between those two. It was already noticeable that her movements were a bit delayed and she occasionally bagged lightly in the sand after the jump through the portal.

After Kisha again caught her breath, she had already placed another arrow in the bow, or rather three arrows, but they fired one after the other, one of which was fired at the head and two of them on the Chest area.
Two can play this game.

Prism lets herself properly grin as her attack lands, Kisha immediately teleporting away in order to avoid further damage being inflicted. It'd been a bit of a gamble to lure her into range like that, and to deal with what was basically a rollercoaster of a semblance in order to land that hit, but it so, so worth it. It's no time to relent and relax though - she still had a fight to finish.

And Kisha had left her escape portal open behind her.

Transforming her weapon back into it's primary form, Prism wastes literally no time firing a shot through the portal as her opponent takes a moment to recover. The portal vanishes moments afterwards as Kisha tries to put more distance in-between her and Prism, but the hummingbird doesn't let that hamper her, instead taking off into the air with a harsh updraft as she pops the spent dust cartridge from her weapon. Thankfully, it isn't hard to dodge Kisha's three-arrow retaliation as she soars upwards, still being a little slow as she recovers from the point-blank electrocution, and Prism returns the favor with scoping in and firing another shot.

Kisha hissed as one of Prism's shots grazed her. Had she seriously forgotten to close her portal? She shook her head briefly to sort out her thoughts and had just enough time to avoid the second shot. That was a bit too close for her taste. But now, as the cramps gradually diminished, she had probably the best opportunity to counter.

Once the bow transformed back to the dagger, Kisha once again created two portals that would bring her up in the air to Prism, but both portals closed before she could jump all the way through them. Blue flashes formed around the vanishing portal, before shooting Kisha forward, building up more momentum and speed than in any previous attack.

It was similar to an attack she had done before, teleporting around Prism and attacking once in a while, but with the speed that build up through the extra boost the portals give her by the premature closing, it made it hard to track her moves, and she used every jump for an attack. In between the jumps and attacks, she made sure not to let Prism get out of her sight, and after every jump she was ready to follow her, if she would again choose to dodge in the air or to the side.

Kisha's attempting to do her storm of portals again, which is - well, more than annoying, since it's hard to keep track of someone constantly teleporting around her. She only lets Kisha overwhelm her with a storm of portals

Her wings are tucked against her back and the wind cuts out, letting gravity embrace her as she falls back to earth. It only takes a few movements with her wings to right herself into the air so she's facing upwards where her opponent would be as she tried to follow her, before tucking her rifle into her shoulder and firing off another shot towards her.

In, halfway out, close, boost. In, halfway out, close, boost. In, halfway out, close, boost.

Kisha kept repeating this process as she followed Prism to her new position. She relentlessly tried to keep up the speed and didn't waste a single second on a breath unless it was absolutely necessary. This was also the only reason she managed to dodge the coming shot.

In... Halfway out... Close... Boost... And Attack!

She wouldn't let Prism get out of this attack so easily. This rush of attacks was the last ace she had up her sleeve. The rest would only be... Repeats of everything that already happened with maybe small deviations.

The cramps had finally disappeared completely and Kisha could now use the full momentum of the boosts for the attacks, but at the same time she felt how her stamina began to gnaw at her and she was prepared to switch back to defensive soon.

(Tackle granted by Dexes)

This rapid-fire teleportation is getting seriously annoying. Flap right, flap left, roll this way, that way - Prism can only keep dodging for so long. She pops the cartridge despite one bullet being left, loads in a fresh one, and then slides the spare round into the pump-action mechanism on top of the rifle to make use of the last shot.

As soon as Kisha nicks her, Prism fires off her rifle one last time, the recoil sling hotting her directly towards her opponent as she makes her escape attempt. She tackles Kisha from behind midair, hugging Kisha's middle and attempting to catch her arms - and throwing them both down towards sandy ground with another harsh gust of wind.

Due to the tackle Kisha was thrown out of her trajectory and missed the portal through which almost disappeared into safety. She felt Prism wrap her hands around her, holding her arms to her side, restrict her in her movements

Well... That was only half a problem. She still had the opportunity to move her wrist, which she used to create one of the portals. It... was a very small one. No one she knew would fit in there, but that wasn't her plan. The portal was pretty much only a few feet above the floor, the second one right next to it. As soon as the two touched the portal, Kisha closed it, and the same blue flashes as in the previous ones came around the portal, only with the difference that they didn't get a boost to the front, but one backwards. The boost and the gust of wind had a short fight on which diection to go, but since the portal was of small size and the subsequent boost strength was rather weak, the wind won, but the fall was severely cushioned, and since the ground below was made of sand she felt no pain, the same went for Prism though.

On the ground Kisha realized that Prism was still holding on to her.
"Let's save the hugs for later, kay'?" she said as she rolled on her back, trying to bury Prism in the sand beneath and free herself from the hold.

Prism isn't going to let Kisha escape that easily, now that the hummingbird faunus has managed to drive her into the sand. Positioned on top of her, Prism immediately moves back to straddle Kisha's waist, letting her opponent hand's free but avoiding being rolled underneath her. Even if Kisha manages to roll over to face Prism, she's still going to need to deal with a pretty big problem when she turned around: the barrel of a sniper rifle pointed right at her.

Prism had pulled the rifle over her shoulder as soon as she'd leaned back, leveling it at her opponent. Immediately the hummingbird faunus fired off two point-blank shots that Kisha will be very hard-pressed to dodge. She doesn't waste any time trying to pin down Kisha, or grapple with her - her wings immediately flare, she disengages with a strong flap backwards to land several yards away, preparing to face whatever her opponent tries to throw at her next.

Continuing to try to get out of Prisms grip, Kisha turned around to face her, and regretted that decision in the same second.

Bang! Bang! Pain!

Kisha stood up, tottering. In the meantime, Prism has built up some distance between the two, which wasn't that bad for her either, giving her the opportunity to breathe.

When she took the second to brath,  she soon disappeared again in one of her portals. Again, the same attack as before, but this time the boost was kept low, but it she had still an impressive speed. That was the first difference, the second was that she had changed back to the bow and first shot a normal, and then a fire arrow. The first arrow had her last hydrogen grenade attached to it, and as the two arrows, just millimeter away from Prism, collide, the arena went up in an explosion.

Kisha remembered to close her exit portal behind her this time.

A sly grin crossed Prism's face the second her opponent disappeared through another portal, not wasting any time as an updraft caught her outstretched and she shoots into the air. It's not a moment too soon, too- she can hear Kisha emerge somewhere else in the arena. She turns and scopes in automatically, firing one shot off at her as she draws back the bow to shoot-

Oh, motherfucker.

Prism barely gets in another boost from her wind in time to soar even higher, not quite managing to outrace the explosion without singing her feathers The knockback makes her wobble a bit in the air, but she quickly steadies herself. She reaches for her belt, pulling out a single red dust-tipped bullet - if Kisha wants explosions, she'll give her explosions. Immediately after Kisha had fired her two arrows, she dropped back into one of her portals to get out of Prism's reach again, successfully avoiding both shots, even though the second one was a bit of a close call.

From the new position, which was a little farther back from her previous, she again took an arrow out of their quiver. It was shot immediately after, followed shortly by a second arrow, which was a bit laterally and set higher, but still aimed in a way that it should hit its target.

This was getting frustrating.

Kisha had managed to avoid both her shots by portaling away again, appearing further back in the arena. She was already notching those damn lightning arrows, so Prism tucked her wings into her back to avoid them. Letting gravity take her as she tilted into a harsh dive, she dove towards the sand dunes far below as she fired one last shot towards her opponent, hoping to land one last hit.

Prism didn't pull up from the dive through - she only flared her wings moments before she hit the ground, coming to rest softly in a valley between two of the sand dunes below. From the position on the ground, Kisha wouldn't be able to spot her - the sand dunes block her from view. She pulls another clip from her belt and reloads Hawk's Eye, before loading it with one additional fire-dust tipped bullet through the pump action mechansim - not that Kisha would be able to see that, though.

After Prism dodged the two arrows, Kisha was already reaching for a third one to shoot directly afterwards. It was in that second of inattention that Prism's shot came and hit her in the shoulder.

Slowly it began coming to a close, even without looking at the holographic screen, she knew that her aura was already running out. As Kisha now had her arrow ready to shoot, she noticed something. Or rather not notice, as Prism seemed as if she had disappeared in the air.
Ahh, hide and seek. Fine, two can play this game.

She took bow and arrow in the same hand and activated with her now free hand the last of her Smoke grenades. After changing her position in the smokescreen, to deal with a possible shot in advance, she took two more arrows. The arrow order was now ice, lightning, ice, all three at the same time clamped in the bow and just waiting for the right moment. The smoke would be thin enough to see a movement in a few seconds and as soon as Prism dared to leave her hiding place, it was her chance to strike

[Autohit granted by Dexes - thanks man, this was fun!]

...did Kisha just detonate another smoke bomb?

Prism can't help herself - she rises above her hiding place in the dunes, simultaneously whipping up a breeze to blow through the arena and clear away the smoke. She can see that Kisha's got one hell of an attack lined up, three arrows all at once - so just before her opponent manages to fire, she brings up her own rifle to launch off the fire-dust tipped bullet in retaliation.

It hit home.

As Kisha dealt with the sudden high-intensity burst of flames, Prism flips forwards into a dive as she lets her updraft die, headed for the sandy ground to just pull herself up at the last moment. That shot would've done enough damage to put Kisha into the red - and judging by the scoreboard displayed on the side of the arena, she'd dipped well beneath the cutoff margin in order to win. The faunus spends a moment staring at the board, before a disbelieving smile crosses her face, and she lets out a victorious laugh.

She won.
