The Vale Region / Re: Bombs over Vale [Closed for the Moment]

"Don't worry about the name, kid. It's nothing.", Janus said lightly, nodding at a pair of Vales compacted apartment buildings. Their targets. "First floor, second door from the stairs towards us. 118."

The older man hefted his own briefcase, keeping the duffel bag slung over his shoulder. He shouldn't need its contents, but after seeing the reaction to an Inquisitor some weeks ago, it wouldn't hurt to be prepared. Gunning down a bunch of students wouldn't be the best of ideas, but if it came down to a shootout...

"Meet me on 8th and Carter, the far corner, in fifteen minutes, and we can move on to the next step. Try not to be too obvious, kid? We may be dropping some messages, but our employer doesn't want the vessel known.", he said as he headed across the street.

The number of civilians in the area were a concern, but most of them passed him by, ignorant of who he was. He nodded politely at one man, thanking him as he held the gate to the complex open. He looked off to the side as he passed the security camera, keeping his features obscured, and with that he was out of the way. He walked through the complex's central hallway, dropped the briefcase in a trashcan, and headed back for the entrance. He smiled and nodded at a young Faunus as he walked by, rolled his shoulders, and set off down the street, looking for his counterpart.

We've seen warships, some minor aircraft, the Knights and Paladins, and some pretty meager presentation of ground troops. What other assets can Atlas field? Have they moved over to a predominantly bipedal ground force, or are there still conventional forces in their arsenal? Is their naval presence lesser because of their airships?

Not bad. If you start getting out of hand, or overshadowing the WF or something, we'll step in. Until then, Approved.

Make sure you get your NPCs set up in Character Creation.

You would all be surprised at what a little bit of running will do to a hangover.

You can never go wrong with tracks, honestly. Walkers, since this is a fictional universe, may have their uses.

Tundras: Tracked vehicles, rated for cold weather operations, will be highly useful. Better traction than wheeled vehicles. Ground troops will want to clean the shit out of their weapons after firing them, then KEEP THEM DRY. That applies to crew served weapons as well. Aircraft will need very effective, well maintained anti-ice systems.

Sand Dunes: Still keep with tracks, though you'll be able to get more use out of wheels this time. Keep shit lubricated and filtered. Hydrate.

Grasslands: Really just about anything will go here. Tracks are nice, wheels are nice, shit, make walkers if you want.

Swamps/whatever?: Swamps are weird. They're gross as fuck. Keep your gear sealed. Tracks on some denser landmasses are okay. Wheels will get stuck, a lot. Hovercraft, maybe? Stick to flyovers in slow moving VTOLs as much as possible.

Direct questions towards myself or my character here. I don't play many characters and I don't post much. Despite this I'm somehow one of the Worldbuild moderators. I'm a Marine Vet with specific knowledge on Helicopter Maintenance and Aviation Squadrons. I know guns better than most of the gross civilians here. I've got a fair bit of knowledge regarding crew served and vehicle mounted weaponry as well. I tend to help out in Military and Technology sections of WBs.

My character is a disgraced Atlesian Specialist turned high-end mercenary.

Hit me up if you need a hand with weapons or whatnot, I'll see where I can help you. Word of warning: I'm not as temperamental as Vox. but I can get heated real quick.

Janus' face twitched at the mention of his name. At this point, there was no purpose to stand on circumstance. His posture shifted. His free hand relaxed by his side, clearly unaccustomed to being empty. His eyes subtly swept the area more, seeking and searching. The warrior edged out a little more.

"So, they told you my name? Hnh. Wish they hadn't done that.", he growled.

In the back alley they went down, he was more satisfied. He pulled the satchel off his shoulder and passed off one of the briefcases inside of it.

"This should be easy enough. Drop the package and leave the area. Try not to be noticed, kid."

The kid obviously didn't think much of him, either through ignorance of his history or through simple arrogance, but he shouldn't really fault him for that. He was out of his element, that much was sure. Some student running missions. Atlas wouldn't have stood for that kind of behavior, not when he'd been there.

"Think you can manage?"

The whole 21 drinking age is regarded as a fuckin' joke by the military, in my experience. Only reason you see punishments for it is the necessity of maintaining good order. With the level of influence Atlesian military officials have, I'd say make the drinking age the same as the age of enlistment.

Another man lurks at the edge of perception. Older, a bit worn down, but wiser. He'd arrived well beforehand, taken a seat just out of the center of the restaurant, and waited patiently. He'd shared some friendly conversation with his waitress, telling her a handful of awful jokes and lame flirtations. A pair of beers and once he closed out, she dumped him from her memory. Nothing really important to see with him.

The guy didn't look like much. An old, worn down jacket sat in the booth next to him. A long sleeved shirt, just a size too large on him and a pair of worn down jeans. A scruffy beard helped to mask his features even further. At this point he was basically just another near vagrant. Too poor to afford anything decent, too poor to drink in finer establishments, too poor to even be a criminal threat.

At least he didn't have to wait too long. His contact showed up, finally, waiting in the shadows of a nearby alley. He figured it was him, at least. The weapon, whatever it was clipped to his hip was a little to large and out of place on the reedy kid. He waited a moment, watching him, trying to verify that this was who he was looking for. The boy sat and listened to the music, getting way too focused on it. His coat was out of place on him as well, the older mercenary thought. Too dirty on a face too clean.

Or maybe he was just being paranoid, he thought as he stood up, shouldered a duffel bag, and walked out of the bar. The younger Huntsman lit a cigarette, eyes focused on the flames.

Janus Rogo smirked at the coughing as he approached.

"Don't worry, kid, you'll get there eventually." he said with a growl, barely loud enough to be heard over the din of the jazz band. He looked around at the surrounding commercial district, then jerked his head, indicating the other man should follow him towards the residential districts.

It's an alright round. Not sure if I would call it a large caliber, but that's just my opinion. Maybe step it up to a .338?

That's such a hilariously bad and awesome idea, I might have him do it just for the shock factor/"shit goes wrong: the thread" potential.

As cheap of an answer as it is, I think just saying "Aura" is very applicable here. How else are teenagers, small ones at that, capable of hefting and accurately firing chainguns, jumping dozens of feet into the air, firing a rifle that has enough force to fling her around, shoulder checking through trees with no injury. Aura strengthens the body in some pretty impressive ways. Janus' does the same.

There's a couple reasons why he's capable of flying faster with armor. He dips into his aura reserves less, since he's more aerodynamic in his armor than he is without the armor. The effects of turbulence, wind resistance, etc directly on his body are lessened. The experience as a pilot isn't really applicable. He's not attempting to control the dozens of electrical and mechanical systems most aircraft have, which is where the real training comes in. He's using something that's an extension of his will.

You compared him to a human missile, which isn't inaccurate, I suppose. Pretty funny, really.
