Title: A Lazy Day [INVITE]
Post by: Martian on May 23, 2017, 11:17:43 PM
Ah, the sweet smell of summer. Marshal was enjoying his day off by relaxing in the courtyard. The smell of the breeze was lovely, and the grass soft underneath his uniform. This term was really flying by. Leading Team MARS was really quite enjoyable, even if a certain pompous prick objected to everything he said.

That being said, though, it seemed that one of their members had been rather distant lately. Ash's presence had been scarce around campus, and Marshal had barely seen the boy in their dorm. He worried that something was going on that he didn't want them to know about, but figured it would become clear in time.

Random daydreaming aside, Marshal sighed and laid his head down on the ground, enjoying the time he had to himself.

Helena woke up with a slightly spastic demeanor, flailing a bit until she remembered where she was. Right, up a tree, back against the trunk, sitting on a thick branch. Carol moved a bit in protestation, as she'd been enjoying a nap around Helena's neck.

She apologetically brushed the small snake's head and, speaking with a low tone, said "Sorry, I know, I always do that..." She picked up the book sprawled across her thighs and briefly observed the surroundings, just to make sure nothing had changed too much. It was still the middle of the day, good. Oh and there was a guy down below now, too. Neat.

Reginald was not enjoying his day off.

For starters, it was hardly a day off for him - Silica had made him run laps around the school earlier, and he had earned himself a kick to the stomach for calling her a 'wench', an error he's made one too many times. But, at least now he could relax a little, as Silica had gone into town for lunch.

But now the shitweasel found himself facing a new challenge - fighting off boredom. But, just as he was considering the daunting thought of being productive or maybe making a friend, he noticed a familiar figure, laying in the courtyard. He scoffed, put in his most condescending expression and approached his team leader.

"Lazying around and doing nothing of value. As much as I would expect from the likes of you." Reggie said, spitefully as he stepped closer with crossed arms. "Is this really how you plan to become a huntsman?"

Marshal opened one eye to see Reginald approaching him with some harsh words. What else was new? "Hey, Reggie," he yawned. "Good to see you, too. You know we have a day off, right? I've been doing just fine in classes, I don't see what's wrong with taking a little time off." Of course, he wouldn't tell Reginald that he had already been up at the ass crack of dawn to do a bit of practice with his weapon. Seeing as it was so new, he was still getting used to making it transform and using the new assault rifle function. He just thought it was fun to mess with Reginald and make himself look like the lazy one that led the team.

Helen witnessed the new arrival, who was looking... somewhat odd, to say the least, go up to the first guy in what seemed to be some sort of attempt at provocation. Oooh, they knew each other, according to #1's answer. Nice.

She petted Carol a bit more before opening her book, reading while keeping an ear on the conversation below.

"Typical. I'll have you know that real huntsmen don't have days off. They must always be vigilant, always training, unless you want to be swallowed alive by some grimm like a bug." He said, grasping the inner lining of his vest lightly, smirking like the little douche he was. "In which case, I won't say I whole-heartedly object. So long as you don't pull the rest of us down with you."

Reggie turned his back towards his team leader, pompously looking out across the courtyard, puffing out his chest slightly. "The people I must put up with here..."

Marshal sighed. If only this douchebag knew. "You know, putting up with you ain't exactly easy either." No matter what he did, it seemed like Marshal would never get through to Reggie. This guy had been nothing but obstinate from the moment he had arrived. Either way, he was still a teammate. Didn't stop Marshal from wanting to knock him down a peg.

"Anyway, have you seen Ash around?" he asked, trying to have an actual conversation with his teammate. "I'm starting to get a little worried. I've hardly seen him outside of the occasional class."

Sir turdsmeckle turned his head just slightly in the direction of his team leader, still facing his body away, the little bitch.  "No, I haven't seen him much as of late. A shame, too. He made for far more pleasant company than you." Reggie commented.

After a short moment, he turned around again.  "I almost feel as though I should have Silica train you, by the way. I've seen no improvement in your skills, unlike mine."

"I could say the same about you," Marshal scoffed. Man, no wonder this guy's dad disowned him! What a prick.

Then Reggie had the nerve to suggest that he hadn't made any progress. "That's because you never really pay attention to me," Marshal reminded him. "But, if you're offering, a little extra training wouldn't hurt, I suppose. If Ms. Silica is alright with it, I'd love to get some pointers from her."

"Puh. As if there's anything to pay attention to." Reggie responded, then glanced around to make sure Silica wasn't actually around, before adding:  "If there's something to be gained from my underling teaching you, I suppose that shows just how competent you are."

Of course, the little pisswank didn't mention the fact that Silica's beaten him in melee combat every single time she's tried it, despite being untrained. To him, that wasn't the important part. The important part was being a dick.

Marshal decided that he was done trying to break through to Reggie for today, and instead just sighed. "Well, I suppose a Hunter is always supposed to be learning and improving, as you've spared nothing to tell me, so let's get this show on the road." He got up slowly and dusted himself off. First, they would have to find Silica. If she kept to her usual schedule of kicking Reggie's ass in morning training, she'd surely be at lunch at the moment. That would give Marshal a little time to go get changed into his combat clothes and be ready for some combat practice. He might've been overdoing it a little by squeezing in two practices in one day, but at this point he just wanted to show Reggie that he hadn't wasted his time at Beacon. He was the leader of Team MARS, and he fully intended to act like it.

Reggie crossed his arms, smirking. "She went out into town for lunch. I suppose I could tell her that you're interested in training. If either of us feel you're worth the time, I suppose I'll see you later."

Saying this, General Bitchfuck started to head off, feeling smugly superior. Of course, only after he was a couple meters away, he realized two things - one, he'll have talk to Silica about this, and two... She'll probably make them fight each other. Reggie tripped slightly as he realized this, barely keeping his balance, but it hardly broke his stride. Or so he thought.

Marshal got ready to go change and prepare, but noticed that Reggie had nearly stumbled and fell on his way out. "You really should lose the stupid cape, you know!" he teased. It probably wasn't the best idea to tease Reggie, but he couldn't resist. Something about that guy...it just made sense to make fun of him. Marshal chuckled as he headed back to the dorm.

About an hour later, Marshal would show up at the training arena dressed in his combat gear, his weapon in hand. It looked like it was empty for the time being, which was good! All the more space to move around in.

Reginald had given no response to Marshal, opting to just keep on walking, though one might note his fists clenching. What an edgy bitch.

Reggie was sitting on a bench in the training arena with his arms crossed, pouting, while Silica was idly browsing her scroll. The assistant was wearing her usual casual getup of a white, cropped tee and a pair of short shorts. She looked up to see Marshal and gave him a short wave. "Yo. So, heard you wanted to do some training? That's pretty good to hear, actually, about time Reggie got his ass kicked again. I figure you could start off with a short spar 'til either of you reaches, say, 30% aura. Can analyze what both of ya did from there."

Marshal noticed Silica and Reggie sitting nearby. He waved to the girl and noticed Reggie pouting. "Thanks, Ms. Silica!" he said politely, smiling as he walked up. "I appreciate you helping me train today, if only to get Reggie off my back for once." It would've been even harder to convince Reggie that he had been training all this time already, so getting to fight him and prove that there was a reason he had been chosen as leader was just as good an alternative.

With a grin of anticipation on his face, Marshal took his place in the arena, weapon in hand.

"No problemo, kid. Aite, Reggie, you're up." Silica instructed her boss. Mumbling something about lowly peasants, Reginald picked up Solace and took position in front of Marshal.

Silica paused for a moment, looking between the two hunters before speaking up again. "Three... Two... One...  Fight!" She exclaimed. Reginald wasted no time, raising Solace, loaded with a lightning pellet. He fired, unloaded the empty shell and crouched to take his next shot, though he waited just for a moment to see if his opponent would get hit with the shock.

(Lightning pellet does 5% damage, delivers a shock which might cause Marshal to freeze up if he's hit.)

Marshal didn't think Reggie would start off so quickly. He managed to react in time, rolled out of the way and drew his sword. In another instant, he let a small Blast loose towards his teammate, hoping to either distract him for a moment or get a hit in.

Sorry for the wait. I've been really busy lately.

Despite Reggie trying to make it seem like he had paid no attention to Marshal during training, the truth was that he had taken some notes. Most of them, of course, based around lord cockinmouth being superior to Marshal in some way. One of such things was gunplay - in ranged combat, Reginald had a clear advantage, even with his opponent's semblance. The more distance he had, the better.

Just as his opponent dodged, he had taken his second shot, another lightning pellet. The rest of the shots loaded in the rifle were ice, ice, fire, fire and two more lightning ones, in that order. The plan was to start off by shocking Marshal, then freezing him place, then doing the damage, then shocking him to leave time for Reggie to reload. A good plan in theory.

When Marshal fired off his blast semblance, Reggie was mostly prepared. Reggie jumped to the side, though much less elegantly than he would like, tucking himself into a roll. A couple of moments later, however, he was back up on his feet, hopping back while turning to face his team leader once again.

(100% aura. Lightning shot is 5%, same as before.)
