Title: Ask the guy whose name is on the bill for the website anything!
Post by: Koop on August 03, 2017, 05:19:41 PM
I see this section actually gets some use so I thought I'd participate too! I am Koop, and I am a retired Admin of the website. I do still own the hosting space it is on, however. I've been here since day 1 but ownership of the site was transferred to me say... three years ago or so, from the original creator. I will answer any question you ask, though I may be vague or dodge questions or lie, depending on what you ask. Will try to tell the truth though!

When we Kirkka get a promotion to senior janitor?

Considering she's the only one, she's already the head janitor. Moving to senior janitor would be a demotion.

Edit: Apparently Kirkka has an intern. So she is not the only one. However, she would likely never move to senior janitor because she also does other things like maintaining a garden area and repairing benches.

Seemed like you were working on a new character in the discord so figured i'd ask a classic.

When you're making characters do you actively make ones that draw on some of your own personality traits (/ oppose), or emphasize it purely from the characters point of view?

I always assumed you were the one who started the site. If you weren't the original owner who was it?

I absolutely draw from my own personality traits. I do not do a lot of reading so I often don't have a ton of source material to draw ideas and concepts from. I do play a fair bit of games, however, so those are used as reference material often as well, though I try to keep it mixed up by combining multiple things, say some of my traits with some traits from 1-2 other characters and the like. Overall, I do most of the time, but not always.

A guy named Navolas2. The legend. He came up with the idea and posted about it on Reddit, where about 5 of us got together and made the site, set it all up on Forumotion, and it took off. They say he still watches us from the distance to this day.

Since you actually have multiple characters that have other jobs than hunters I was wondering where you think Kaali could have ended up if she didn't go down that path? What other careers could she have enjoyed?

Hm. She has always been single minded, and since fighting was something she picked up on very early on in her life, it is difficult to imagine. Assuming her early years went on the same way, she would probably have tried to follow her half-sister Kirkka's career in relation to Dust and Aura research. I am currently rewriting Kaali's character profile, but the Aura research/study would be very reinforced in her new profile, due to the nature of her Semblance not playing nice with the rest of her body and Aura. As it is, it doesn't get in her way enough to stop her from focusing on becoming a Huntress.

That, or a barista.

How many potatoes does it take to get to the center of a Nathan?

I am not sure that the answer to that question is a number that can be mathematically defined.

I have an answer, believe it or not, it is pineapple. Or 10 to the power of triangle.

And if you want to create your own Nathan, you create a pentagram out of 5 Nintendo 64's, connected by lines of pasta, and a copy of Skyrim at the center. To finish the rit- I mean birthing, you must screech of the Infinite ADHD Asperger's monkey and how you love Nintendo. Then the ritu- I mean birthing is finished. Then you will have your very own, nerd who sits on a chair and plays videogames all day. And who loves pasta.

Koop, what can you tell us about your history as an RPer? Feel free to be as general or specific as you'd like -- just trying to get to know the staff and veterans here better, and you seem like a good starting point.

My first experience roleplaying was on some website I found that I can't even remember the name of. It was an original fantasy setting and it had a map. Clicking on a location on the map would "go" to that location, and there would be a chat room where everyone at the location could talk. Then you could navigate to nearby zones/areas/places/buildings, and the chat room would change to that area. It was very neat and very fun, but I had no idea what I was doing.

A major part of my RP past was in Neverwinter Nights, a PC video game based on D&D. Very good game, 10/10. You could play online, and there were tons of RP servers. I played on one called Astoria, an original D&D world, as... a 12-year-old "human" kid. Since you cannot control height in the game, I made my character a halfling and told everyone I was a human. After several years of playing, I asked the GMs to change my character data to look like a human, and they did and it was awesome. My character was the strongest monk(played more like a fighter/brawler. Limited "spiritual" training, and such) on the server but was only level 9. I helped slay Skrag, an ancient red dragon that attacked the main city of Astoria. I was one of the "core" people from Astoria. There were several core groups as the server was fairly large. There was a vampire/drow populous that caused a ruckus from time to time, and then there was an elven city which had a bunch of races, but mostly elves. People tended to stay in their areas mostly because they knew lots of people there. The coastal city of Astoria was my character's home.

Then I found Warcraft 3 and never RPed in an online game again because I was too busy killin' shit. Mostly. In the last 12 years, any online RP I've done has been limited to one-off random events. I tried leveling a character on an RP server in WoW a long time ago but just wasn't into it because it was difficult to make RP the main attraction.

That said, I do play tabletop games, and I have not played in over a year now, but I my favorite one is Savage Worlds. I am very well versed in Pathfinder, D&D 3, 3.5, 4, and 5.

Oh, and as far as forum based RP goes, this website is the first time I've ever done anything like it, aside from that chatroom based website I mentioned.

...So it's actually everyone else's fault?
