Sent to: Anna Fall, Setsuna Antiqua, Theodore Williams, Calen Shrike Team ASTC: Due to unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances, Taro Espada remains incapacitated and deemed unfit for further combat at the time of this message. The school has considered your team's current situation, and have selected a suitable student, Theodore Williams (http://rwby-rpg.rwbyfanon.com/index.php/topic,744.msg8172.html#msg8172), to act as the 4th member. The school will expect you to return to normal studies and combat as a fully-fledged team, having successfully passed your initiation. The four of you are to spend at minimum one lesson's time to associate yourselves with each other. Once complete, await further instructions.
Beacon Academy Training Arena
Attire: Standard Clothing Weapons: Discord, Harmony (Sword, Shield) General Vicinity: Various holographic training dummies and target boards Immediate Vicinity: Calen Shrike, Anna Fall
The glowing training dummy flickered and faded, leaving only Setsuna holding his blade in mid-slash. The attempt to take his mind off the message left him only with a tired arm and a worried mind. While he knew Taro wasn't recovering, he didn't expect any replacement, only that they would be sidelined for the foreseeable future. While the message mentioned that the student--Theodore, or Teddy--was a suitable replacement, he would still have the responsibility of making sure that he would fit in.
He'd read Teddy's profile, searching for any information that might help them bond as well as they could. While he was confident both he and Anna would have no problem with a Faunus in their team, he couldn't vouch for Calen. The boy was unpredictable and rash, so he'd have to keep Calen in check. Anyway, the message mentioned spending time training, so he'd elected to mix that with socialising, sending a spread message to the team to meet here. While Anna and Calen were both present, the new member was not.
He should be here pretty soon... Setsuna thought, sheathing his sword and looking around, trying to catch a glimpse of a person matching the appearance described in the profile. Around him, training equipment was set up for practice, but Setsuna had no plans of using them. He had something else in mind--not spectacular, but it would do the trick. Something that would kill two birds with one stone. And would only happen if Theodore turned up any second now.

Teddy sat in the storeroom of the Time-Out, going through his pack for what must have been the fourth time. He knew he was stalling. If he kept stalling, he would not have to leave. If he kept himself from leaving, he would not have to meet his new team.
Hanging his head, he knew he had to get back to the academy sooner or later. He wanted to join a team, but not like this. Now, he's gonna have to try and help these people who just lost a teammate, and he was going to have to fill his spot on the team. Not exactly the easiest proposition. Taking a deep breath, Teddy slung his pack over his shoulder and moved out the back door.
Roughly thirty minutes later, he slowly opened the door to the training arena. It was half nervousness and half preparedness. You never know when the training arena is being used to hold fights, and you never want to interrupt one without armor. Teddy just peeked his head through the door and took a look around.

Trying to keep himself busy after ASTC's definitely mixed results initiation had pros and cons. Finally confident that his body had fully recovered, or at least as much as it would ever, as well as having several reality checks in the following missions meant Calen had been training more than ever. It also meant that Calen had already met Teddy and been on one hectic mission together. He did OK, I suppose. Calen thought to himself, still not happy about the whole situation. Sure it might not be fair of ASTC to compete with three members but life wasn't fair. The fact that Taro was injured intercepting an attack destined for Calen didn't help the situation either.
Calen's recent missions had highlighted that although his blade work among the top of the class he struggled to keep up physically with his peers. Calisthenics was the name of the game for Calen and he had already worked up quite a sweat before Teddy slipped his head through the door. Not that he noticed, to begin with, there wasn't much chatter between the remains of ASTC so Calen was too focused on his workout with heavy metal blasting through his earphones. Still, eyes wander and it wasn't long before Calen noticed Teddy's head sticking into the room.
'Come in Master Theodore we don't bite, much.' Calen joked as he collapsed into the sitting position breathing heavily. Stretching himself up Calen slowly made his way to his feet and straightened up his tie. 'It's nice to see you again, how have you been Master Theodore? Calen asked turning away from his new team mate to get a drink.

Anna was sitting against the wall, head straight and hair covering her face. She was reading some comics on her scroll to pass the time, the device's screen bearing marks of the team's recent close encounter(s). Calen's music, while a bit harsh, made for an alright background, being loud enough to be heard from pretty much anywhere in the quiet place they occupied.
She was a bit bummed about Taro's situation, mostly due to the sheer fact he'd collapsed and would be unable to keep fighting. She'd barely had any time to know him, though, so it wasn't that bad. Still, it meant she'd have to get used to yet another teammate, which wasn't exactly the most enticing thing to look forwards to.
She easily heard the door open, however slowly the person behind made it do so. Whoever it was, they were either shy or... no, that's pretty much all she could think of. Well, she was certainly not going to be the first person to - oh, hey, Calen did. Yay.

Oh, so Calen knows him? This makes my job easier, actually. Setsuna didn't want to shout, so he motioned for Teddy to come closer to the group, while shooting a glance at Calen to turn his music down a notch. First impressions are always awkward...let's see if I can't do anything about it. Calen would actually be better suited to start this conversation since he somehow knew Teddy, but he had a duty to do. Not like Anna was going to speak up, anyway.
"Hey, Theodore. Glad you got my message." Setsuna decided to go ahead anyway. "As you have read, we are the three other members of team ASTC--Anna Fall, me, and Calen Shrike, who you already know. If you didn't already know, I'm Setsuna Antiqua, and the leader of this ragtag team." He cracked a small smile. "If you have any questions, by all means ask away. I'm sure the rest of us would be more than happy to answer any enquiries you may have. However, we're not in a training arena just to socialise, as you may have guessed. We're here to get familiarised with each other and, more importantly, how you fight, both solo and in a team."
With a few taps on his scroll, all the holographic dummies and targets faded, leaving the four members on an flat arena. "I won't push you straight into combat, of course--it would be beneficial to all of us if you had anything to say."

Teddy cautiously took a few steps into the arena, looking at the training dummies as they faded away. "I-It's good to see you, Calen." he said. Well, it wasn't. Not really. Even after the mission they went on together, he was not sure exactly how much he trusted Calen.
Teddy hesitated for a few seconds before saying anything. He needed a bit of time to get everything sorted in his head. "Alright. Well...I've already met Calen. B-But, I think it would be best to get a bit of fighting done before we get into more introductions, if that is okay with everyone." he said, praying that getting the fighting started now will give him something solid to talk about later.
Teddy reached behind him, pulling out his weapon and giving it a steady grip. He always hated trying to introduce himself to people, so if he could do anything to make the situation any less painful than it needed to be, he would try it.

'Speak for yourself Master Setsuna I think we are far more a motley crew.' Calen contradicted slowly getting to his feet. Nodding in response to Teddy's greeting Calen unhooked himself from his scroll as the introductory session seemed to begin in earnest. Very much in earnest it seems, not that's really a bad thing. Calen thought to himself as he stretched his limbs out in preparation for the coming fighting. Satisfied Calen looked back to his leader 'Well I don't see why we can't indulge our new friend a little, who wants to go first?' Calen remarked with substantial flair and glee clear on his face.
Calen tucked his hands away in his pockets as he waited for a response, even if he had been told the plan Calen wouldn't have paid attention thinking instead it would be best to throw Teddy in the deep end first up.

Anna thoroughly ignored the newcomer, not to be rude or because she didn't care but more so she wouldn't have to be shy, the latter being quite the bother. She did, however, raise her reading hand when her name was mentioned.
Aaaaand didn't budge another inch, except for swiping pages and similar stuffs. Once again, Calen proved to be her savior, the eagerness in her voice clear enough for Anna to get an image of mischievous grinning. Which wasn't something you saw every day on his face.

"Of course, if that's what makes you comfortable." Setsuna reassured Teddy. His hammer would be able to bring the heat against any heavily-armored and slow opponents, but they still lacked a good ranged option. But he was digressing. Another tap on his scroll started randomising three names barring Teddy, for he was guaranteed first fight.
"Alright, Calen. You're first up against Teddy. Flat arena, first to drop below 20% aura loses. And no repeats of the Switcheroo battles, please." Setsuna put extra emphasis on the word "repeat", then whistling to catch Anna's attention, moving to sit at the seats ringing the arena. While they duked it out, he was going to analyse Teddy's fighting style in detail, trying to figure out how he would work with the rest of ASTC. "Whenever you're ready."

Away from the team's attention, a figure stood at the top of the arena stairs, looking down at the group of four. Even to the most attentive of eyes, they would not see the person. For now, the person was doing nothing.
Guess who it is... It'll become important later. For now, I think what we'll do is make the posting order just King and Mike, with me and Nathan commenting if we have anything in-char to say. Fighter was randomised via RNG.

'I don't know why you keep bring that up, it's not like anything really bad happened.' Calen responded in a heavily exaggerated sulk. Internally Calen was all smiles, getting to go to town on the new kid was exactly what hoped hoped for ever since they got the message. 'I suppose it would be fair to give some time to get ready.' Calen remarked as he continued stretching which rapidly turned into a throw sending a trio of knives at Teddy. 'Too bad that's not how I'm going to do this.' Calen continued laughing cruelly. Turning away from his opponent Calen gave Setsuna a side-wards glance, trying to taunt out a response from his leader before walking away casually to give Teddy and himself some space.
Calen clearly wasn't taking Teddy seriously, still not drawing his weapon, and instead continued walking back with his hands in his pockets waiting for Teddy to make the second move. 'So what's this one about then Miss Fall, you seem even quieter than normal.' Calen remarked, his voice dripping with not entirely faux boredom.

Teddy was starting to stretch when a flurry of knives suddenly went at his face. He managed to knock the first two away with his hammer, but the third caught him with a glancing blow to the top of the head. It seemed that his initial distrust of this teammate was well founded.
"Not very gentlemanly, Calen." he said. If his opponent was going to give him a second to think, he was going to use the opportunity. Teddy knew that at the very least, Calen thought he was clever. Keeping his weapon in gun form, he charged forward. Teddy went for a low sweep of the legs immediately followed by a shotgun blast to the chest.

Upon Setsuna's cue, Anna got up and trekked over to where she could hear vague shuffling in the stands, plopping herself down right besides her leader. She'd barely rouched the seat that Calen was being something of a dick towards the newcomer - well, more of a dick than usual, anyway.
Oh, great! Now he was being a dick to her too! Muttering under her breath loud enough for only her closest teammate to hear, she said "He knows damn well why I'm quiet."

Setsuna could certainly sympathise. For the few nights after their initiation, he'd woken up sweating after reliving that moment over and over. He'd learned to deal with it, but the guilt was still there. "Do you want to talk about it?" he asked kindly, almost certain that he'd be turned down. Still worth a try.
Noting Teddy's reaction speed despite the unwieldy weapon, he made himself comfortable for the fight ahead.

Calen chuckled at Teddy's response although still not deeming to turn and face his charging opponent. 'So says the one using a shotgun I may remind, the lady doth protest too much me thinks.' Calen responded while waiting for Teddy's attack to hit home. Only it never did. His semblance flashing his aura green Calen vanished in a blur, flipping over Teddy just as the latter's sweep would have otherwise hit Calen. Landing deftly Calen let loose a volley of quick jabs aimed at the back of Teddy's head and upper body. Keeping tight to Calen aimed opponent to follow Teddy's large sweeping movements required to bring around the hammer or shotgun around. All the while Calen continued to chuckle mockingly at the futility of Teddy's assault.
'This is your chance to show off what you can do Master Theodore, keep that in mind.' Calen continued his taunting as he tried to keep maintaining an evasive movements.

While continuing to read, Anna more or less shrugged before saying in a barely audible mumble "What's there to talk about? I'm shy and he's bloody aware of it.". Calen's continuing, if not heightening, dickishery wasn't exactly helping her cool down.

Teddy ate a punch to the back of the head, rolling forward and spinning on his knee. There was no way he was going to be faster than him. "And this is a chance to see if you can keep up with your mouth." he said, the taunting starting to get to him. Now was not the time to start letting his emotions get the better of him, but dammit if Calen was pushing him close to it.
Considering his other strategies had no effect, Teddy activated his semblance. In a rush of speed, Teddy made two quick downward hammer strikes followed by a midsection sweep. He needed to keep up the pressure in order to find some weak point in Calen's defense.

"Yeah...I know." Setsuna replied sadly. He wanted to help her badly, but without her opening up a little there was nothing he knew to say that would help her. Pushing it to the back of his mind he focused on the battle. Calen was using his normal tactic of pissing his opponent off--and frustratingly it was once again working--at least until Teddy used his own semblance. At this point, I'm starting to wonder why the school's idea of putting three speedsters in one team is a good idea. Unless there's some sort of running competition between teams.

Grinning as Teddy rolled away Calen kept up his taunts as he saw he was having an effect on his opponent. 'You would have thought you can not run from your problems by now Master Theodore.' Calen remarked dismissively. Despite being outwardly scornful expressions Calen was reasonably impressed by Teddy's reaction, quickly realising what Calen was trying to do Teddy made sure to keep his range. Still it would do no good for Teddy to know that yet in Calen's mind so his antagonistic persona continues. Evading backwards Calen was still clipped by the downward swings more to test the the power behind his new team mates assault than anything else. It was impressive, particularly given the speed behind Teddy's charge, but not enough to wipe the shit-eating grin off Calen's face.
Slipping under the sweep Calen used the opening to close again striking savagely at Teddy's most extended leg with stomp before spinning high for another kick aimed at Teddy's head. 'And if this is truly my chance to keep up with my mouth I hope you won't mind if I keep running it off.' Calen continued laughing a little even as the fight started to get more intense.

Teddy got caught with a stomp to the foot. Thankfully, his natural reaction was to duck his head down, which got him under the kick in time to avoid a shot to the head. There was no chance if he kept letting Calen get distance on him, so he had to improvise. While he was in his low position, he went straight for a tackle on Calen. If he could keep him pinned to the ground, the speed advantage would be evened out.
"Keep talking." he said, the constant taunting causing him to be more aggressive.

Stumbling a little after missing his kick Calen was force to break his rhythm to give him time to find his feat again which left an opening for Teddy. Calen grunted as Teddy made contact and reflected on how many of his fights turned into to wrestling matches. Still unlike then he still has his semblance which allows him to launch both Teddy and himself far into the air. Clocking Teddy with a quick jab to the head Calen then slipped out of his hold and let Teddy fall unhindered to the ground. Instead Calen used his semblance again to catch him, landing in a bow and waited for Teddy to continue.
Starting to breath hard from multiple uses of his semblance Calen still managed to smile and continue taunting. 'Nice try Master Theodore but try to keep up we only need one bag carrier in this team.' Calen remarked as he set up in a defensive stance, his weapon in it's glaive form and his weight held back.

To say the fight was not going well for Teddy would be an understatement. Another jab to the head caused his aura to fall just a bit lower than it was, and it was not looking great at the moment. He did not have a comeback this time, so Calen's taunt had to go unanswered. Teddy had run out of strategies. There was no way to hit him.
Going for broke, Teddy grabbed his hammer and started running toward Calen. Frontal assault gets a glaive to the face. Sliding attack would be repetitive. Jumping attack could not work. Ranged attacks were limited. It was time to try something new. Teddy aimed his weapon down, jumping and firing at the ground for an added boost. When he was at the apex of his jump, he aimed upwards and fired his weapon with a loose grip. It launched out of his hand at a frightening speed toward Calen, spinning rapidly around the head of the hammer.
Teddy's aura dropped to the red as the weapon awkwardly extended his wrist and hand. He fell to the ground forcefully, folding himself over as he landed on his head and shoulders.

Watching keenly as the fight progressed, Setsuna was quick to notice the dropping aura levels of both fighters--punctuated by the sound of Teddy's aura entering the red--and even faster to react once he saw the hammer flashing toward Calen. Surging out of his relaxed position with a burst of his semblance, he knocked the hammer out of the air with his shield, moments before it would have impacted with its intended target. "Fight's over." he said firmly, kneeling down to give Teddy a hand. 'Well fought." Up in the shadows cloaking the banisters, the figure was holding a long, thin object. Resting it on the back of a chair, it was pointed directly at Teddy. With this movement, the figure would be visible, but only barely.

Not able to fully hide how impressed he was as Teddy kept adapting to his defensive strategies despite clearly getting more and more angry. That we can use. Calen thought to himself as Teddy launched an all out attack. Hoping to catch his opponent in the air Calen misjudged Teddy's speed and changing direction in midair and was caught completely off guard as the hammer came rocketing towards him. It could very well have shattered his aura if Setsuna didn't step in and call off the fight. Adrenalin quickly leaving his body Calen stumbled backwards as old wounds and new made themselves acquainted although he was able to cancel out his movement before he fell. What started as a small chuckle continued into a full bellied genuine laugh which only exasperated the pain in Calen's chest. 'That took courage Master Theodore, we have use for that. Although make sure you rest up, I always get self-conscious when Anna get's my seconds.' Calen remarked not capable of saying something positive without an at least equal insult.
Seathing his blade Calen picked up Teddy's hammer and handed the weapon hilt first to his new team mate. Calen still had his shit-eating grin but there was a building respect underneath it now. The gaunt boy limped back off the duelling area to his water bottle rubbing his chest where Teddy's hammer slammed home. Taking the moment to himself Calen's danger sense started to click at something above them. It was most likely another student preparing a prank, This day just keeps getting better and better. Calen thought to himself as he thought if he should say anything..... Maybe Teddy had earnt that. 'Or perhaps it isn't chains you have to look forward to next.' Calen remarked looking very purposely not at the shadowy figure.

Anna continued to ignore the battle, not even reacting as Setsuna most probably used his semblance to intervene, judging by the amount of air displaced and how far his voice suddenly was. She did, however, snort a laugh at Calen's first comment. Second one, not so much, but ehh, what'll you do.

Teddy took the hand with his right hand, cradling his left. He was not in the best of shape, but he could still walk. "What are you talking about?" he said to Calen, holding his left wrist. Teddy kept his head low, hunched over as he began to recover. He was obviously dissapointed in his loss, but running it back through his mind did not give him any alternatives.

'This kind of fighting is my forte, I never expected you to win. I only wanted to see what you would do. And in that you did well well, never trying the same failed strategy twice. Even as I was clearly getting under your skin you kept your cool. Banter could use some work but you are in the same boat as everyone else unfortunately.' Calen responded already starting to stretch out his aching muscles.
A few moments later Calen realised he may have made a mistake and continued pointing up to the banisters. 'Oh has no one else seen them yet.' Calen was genuinely surprised, he was hardly the most perceptive of the group. Maybe he would have to get that comic off Anna after she was finished.

Setsuna continued to support Teddy's weight as much as possible, quietly listening to what Calen had to say--he was complementing? Him?--and also agreeing with most of what Calen said.
Hearing Calen's last comment left him quite confused. "See who?" Setsuna asked no-one in particular, confusion evident on his face as he looked at where Calen was pointing. All he saw was shadows, darkness and something that looked like a rifle. Wait what?
Having their position seemingly revealed by Calen, the person raised the object, revealing it to indeed be a rifle and now visible to all. Firing a glowing bullet at Teddy's body, too fast for even Setsuna's Semblance to react to, scored a direct hit. However, instead of seeing his Aura shatter, all 4 scrolls indicated that Teddy's Aura had increased instead.

As Calen started speaking again, Anna gradually lost her concentration, ending in a rather dumbfounded expression aimed right at the source of her teammate's voice. Which was mostly obscured by her hair, thoroughly ruining the effect. Calen making compliments wasn't just rare; it meant he actually accepted Teddy.
All she could do was utter "...I am utterly flabbergasted." She remained in that very state until the team's de facto Sarcasm Lord, having turned over a new leaf in the most outrageous plot twist today, mentioned that there was, indeed, somebody else present. Anna calmed herself and held her breath to try and hear something, instead of just using her semblance.
Lo and behold, her eardrums were brutally and mercilessly assaulted by the blast of a gun of some conviction. Out of both sheer reflex and complete panic, she jumped out of her seat, throttled her semblance's pedal to the bloody metal and flung an Ice Dust-loaded throwing knife directly at the source of the sound.
...While still in mid-air.
Okay maybe she was really panicked and nearly jumped out of her skin. Give her a break, will ya?

Teddy did not get the chance to see whomever it was that took the shot at him. When the shot rang out, he attempted to get to the ground to avoid it. It caught him right in the chest. Naturally, Teddy began to panic. Low aura and high calibre weapons tend to end badly.
Teddy fell to the ground, taken mostly by his own momentum trying to dodge. Laying on his back, he slowly raised his head to see if the bullet got him. It didn't...and his hand had started healing.
"W-What's going on?" Teddy said, the panic evident in his voice.

'Well that was quite an impressive jump from being seated Miss Fall.' Calen remarked as he dashed forward, using several bursts of his semblance to intercept the dagger before it found it's target. 'Perhaps we should petition to get that added to the athletics carnival, after we are done attacking fellow students of course.' Calen continued with an even more haughty and arrogant tone that usual. In truth he wasn't that far behind launching attacks himself but for once his slower reflexes gave him more information to react to.
Landing hard Calen couldn't hide the slight grunt he made as he crashed back into the ground sending shock waves up his knees and even causing his teeth to chatter. 'Well come on then, introduce yourself stranger. You owe us that much, these knives hurt.' Calen called out towards the stranger tossing Anna's dagger up and down as he walked back over to his blind team mate. The fall had caused a fair amount of pain to Calen's already injured knees causing his limp to grow more pronounced, not that it did anything ruin his nicely fed ego.

Setsuna had watched, first in horror, then in confusion matching Teddy's as he witnessed his Aura being healed instead of further damaged by that bullet. Even Anna's comedic leap of fright didn't help dispel the growing sense of turmoil. A gun that healed people? And who was this stranger anyway?
Just because Calen had stopped the initial aggression didn't mean they were in the clear. Unhooking his sword from his belt and stepping in front of Teddy, the blade swung underarm in a wide arc and stopped, tip facing the direction of the shadow person. "Identify yourself," he shouted, "or we will be forced to take action."
The stranger responded with the voice of a girl, "Stay still," firing another round at Calen with similar effects to Teddy's, before rising to her feet and stepping out to where everyone could see her. A first look reveals medium height, pretty face, normal Huntress getup with white blouse and skirt. The gun she is holding comes into view too--old sniper rifle. All of this wouldn't mean much to the members of Team ASTC--bar one.
The sword falls from Setsuna's hand with a loud clatter as he stares in utter shock at the girl. There was no way. This..."S-sis?" he stuttered, eyes never leaving the girl's face.

After the initial scare, Anna landed back on her feet, albeit her heart was still beating way too fast. Who the hell just suddenly fires a shot like that without warning?? Into a fight they're not even involved with, too!
...Oh, and Calen was being bitchier than usual today, too. She was about to threaten him when, right before opening her mouth, she caught herself. Nah. She didn't need to threaten him. He was already done for. However, the shooter was still present, so she cranked her semblance down to second stage and turned to face the intruder, her hair still covering the entirety of her face like some orange-bronze-ish metal strands. Minus the bits being rhythmically blown away by her previous 'I-just-leapt-several-meters-in-the-air-and-threw-a-knife-out-of-sheer-panic' state.
The person - obviously feminine, judging by the voice - took aim once again and fired at Calen, this time. Aww. While she appreciated Calen being shot due to his higher-than-average annoyance levels, she was slightly bummed about how his Aura recuperated. Only slightly, though, because hehehe. Turning back towards the intruder after seeing the shot land, she was greeted by the sight of a smallish figure clad in dark blue and white, mostly. Ooh, and with a pretty face.
But the real fun thing was the vague muttering of her team leader referring to the intruder as 'Sis'. Aaaah, that was somehow funny.
After concentrating on her peripheral vision to make sure Calen was still fiddling with her dagger, Anna put her experienced (slightly beaten) scroll in her left pocket, as usual, utilizing the brief moment of proximity to trigger the detonator for her armed daggers.

Oh...the person shooting him was the leader's sister. Things totally didn't just get super awkward. It did not help that Teddy could not see whoever it was, and rather got a solid view of Setsuna's ass. Teddy just kind of sat there for a few seconds, wondering what the hell was going on.
A scan around the room yielded nothing of note, and he had nothing he could possibly say to express the feeling of awkwardness that had come over him. Thus, he slowly scooted back, stood up, and attempted to quietly walk towards the door.

Calen stopped in his tracks as he felt Jocelyn's shot hit him in the back, cutting short his 'friendly' taunting and playing with Anna's knife. Warmth swept through his body from the point of impact, a kin to a talented masseuse finally loosening a knot of muscles Calen could never do himself. Calen was almost seeing red. THE NERVE OF THIS F*UCKING B*ITCH, I'LL LEAVE NOTHING LEFT AND NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU UNTIL I TELL THEM MYSELF. Calen screamed internally as thoughts and images of violence swarmed his mind. Enveloped in a cold fury Calen almost lazily dropped his spare hand to his own throwing knives, enjoying the slow build up, completely ignorant of the exchange between to newcomer and Setsuna.
One word did cut through this haze however, 'sister.' Calen froze as the implications of that revelation became clear and he smiled. Being his leader's sister meant that Setsuna was at least partially at fault for her being here and violating his body. But that same relationship made it possible to punish both trespassers simultaneously. Emerging from his moment of reprieve in a bout of deep bellied laughter, not for the reason that others might expect but as genuine and heavy as the rest of ASTC had ever heard from Calen. 'Why don't you come down Miss Antiqua and introduce yourself, I promise we don't bite.' Calen remarked, a slight purr entering his voice as he flashed Jocelyn his most charming smile. Yet. Calen added silently.
Of course now Anna triggered the detonation of her dagger which was still gripped tight within Calen's hand. Ice erupted, coating his left arm and most of his left side in the rock hard freezing substance. Calen's aura pulsed a rich green as he boosted his strength to start the process of freeing himself. 'You know that reminds me Miss Fall I've been meaning to clean up the room a bit. I wouldn't want to interrupt your sleep however so I'm sure I'll have it done before you wake up. But then again you know how I'm like with these things so it might take a few attempts before it gets quite right.' Calen responded his words coloured by the same purr and smile as with Jocelyn although the former was useless. Another name to the list. Calen mused to himself as plans started solidifying in his mind.
'And Master Theodore, unless you have some where more important to be I don't believe we are finished here. Take a break if you are unused to the vigor but not too long, I said you where impressive but there is always room for improvement. We have got to see you against other opponents as well as talk about training schemes for said improvement' Calen called out as Teddy tried to sneak out. Speaking far more plainly Calen beckoned his new team mate with his unfrozen hand.

Setsuna wasn't sure what to be more bewildered by at this point: 1) That Anna had detonated her dagger in Calen's hand, 2) That his sister was in Beacon, or 3) That Calen was currently undergoing a massive fit known to others as proper laughing. He was shocked by the first, confused by the second, and absolutely confounded by the third. Tearing his eyes away from the banisters he caught Calen just as he was giving Jocelyn the biggest shit-eating grin Setsuna had ever witnessed in his life.
Jocelyn meanwhile was oblivious to that same grin, only having eyes for her brother. "Sure!" she chirped, taking two steps back before doing a running leap off the edge. Mid-fall, mechanical wings unfolded from behind her back and fully extended, though to everyone else it looked as though she literally grew a pair of wings from out of nowhere. With what seemed to be compressed air, she slowed her fall enough to land safely--right on top of Setsuna, of course. No landing mat would have been better.
"Oh I've missed you so much brother ever since you left for Signal--" she babbled excitedly at a rapid pace, hugging him tightly and conviently smothering Setsuna's pleas of "Jocelyn--please--suffocating--agh--". What made it even more mortifying for Setsuna's predicament was that they had landed in a awkward position, so to speak, with his face buried deep in Jocelyn's chest. Needless to say, he was grateful that it also hid his face from the others.
After the aerial glomp and hug/suffocation, Jocelyn finally picked herself off her brother and allowed him to stand up. Still with a blush and a sheepish smile on his face, Setsuna looked at the three members, including Teddy who was oddly trying to leave. "Well, this should be obvious by now--meet my younger sister, Jocelyn." And to her, he said: "Meet my team--Team ASTC."

As events unfolded, namely Calen somehow becoming even bitchier than he just was, Anna stared at (by orienting her head towards) the aforementioned Shrike. Not only was his voice almost quite literally dripping with sarcasm and poorly concealed threats, he also had a terrific 'please hit me right now' grin. His laughter, far removed from his usual laugh when he found something to be genuinely funny, didn't aid his case.
As it were, the guy would probably try to kill everyone involved in their sleep, or at least hurt them a lot. Anna therefore started trekking directly towards the half-frozen man by walking right over the seats in the stands, entirely ignoring Setsuna and his sibling - short of a vague wave of greeting at the mention of 'ASTC'.
As she made it to the arena's floor, she called to the person trying to get out with all the subtlety they could muster "Hey new guy, don't try to run away. If you can't get through this much you won't last a single day in the dorm room.", her voice devoid of any attempt at humour as well as rid of the usual shyness due to current circumstances.
She finally arrived in front of Calen and, after brushing her hair out of her face, opened her eyes and stared right at his eyes - or where his eyes were according to her semblance, anyway. Her face only showed a thoroughly nonplussed expression, coupled with just a hint of lethal glare. Lowering her voice to try and preserve some of the boy's dignity, she said "Shrike, what the fuck is wrong with you today? Did you unlock your inner bitch or something? I'm fine with your usual levels of passive-aggressiveness, but starting about a minute or so ago you've just been going batshit crazy with it. I detonated that dagger to 1) get back at you in a non-harmful way and 2) to try and make you chip the fuck out.
Seriously, tell me what's up.", she added with a slightest touch of worry to her voice.

Oh this is adorable. Calen thought to himself as Anna began her tirade. Little Miss Fall is finally coming out of her shell. Finally peeling off the majority from ice of his body Calen decided to let the rest thraw off in time as he extended out his weapon into it's glaive form which he leant on throw off a condescending aura. 'Come now Miss Fall you don't get play that card, you decided to resort to violence because you couldn't think of another option. Don't try the high ground because someone might take issue with being turned into a popsicle. I know you aren't the best at these games but even you have to see that.' Calen responded with a clear thread of venom following through his words. Calen had decided to keep his last name just because it caused this kind of reaction in him, that didn't make it any easier to dance around in these verbal sparing matches.
Letting out a dismissive sigh Calen turned away to Anna hearing his leaders muffled exclamations and it is lucky he did as he found the two Antiqua siblings in a rather embarrassing position. Quickly snapping a picture on his scroll Calen tried to disentangle himself from the escalating situation with Anna and went to walk closer to the Antiquas. The larger a reaction he could get out of Anna the more she would do to discredit herself far more effectively than him could directly.

Anna could only sigh at Calen's retort, a small smile appearing on her lips - partially at his futile argument, partially at his closer-to-normal jab at her lack of sight. "Y'know, if I'd resorted to violence, you'd be suspended from the sealing with no Aura right now. And don't talk to me about high ground - at least I'm clear and honest about my aggression instead of threatening my targets, then plotting to get revenge."
After a brief moment of thought, she added "Besides, isn't violence the thing you use the most, be it physical or verbal?"

Letting out an exaggerated sigh Calen turned back around wearing the most carefully crafted bored expression he could conjure to face Anna again. 'Of course Miss Fall you never threaten others, I'm sure it was the wind warning me about your chains. And further more I am clear about my so called aggression, it's not my fault your skull is thicker than your chains and you can't take a hint.' Calen remarked as he pocketed his scroll deciding to activate it's recording function hoping to catch something he could use later or at least crop it to be more damning.
Calen shook his head at Anna's second point fundamentally disagreeing with her definitions. 'I would actually argue I use violence the least out of all of us because I rely on the verbal or if you insist that verbal violence is a thing you would have to agree it is far lower down the list than real physical violence.' Calen responded.

All in all, Teddy's first impression of his team was not spectacular. He stopped in his attempt to exit the room unnoticed. Unfortunately, it does not work if people see you. Thankfully, once he turned around he found himself to be far from the center of attention. Between his leader's...awkward embrace with his younger sister and the growing argument between the two other members of his team, Teddy was comfortably in the background. It helped that he was a good few inches shorter than the rest of the crew, Setsuna's sister included. He just stood back and surveyed the scene, his bear ears poking up through his mass of hair as he listened to the conversation.
His leader seemed to have some idea of what he was doing, but the fact that he failed to notice his own sister showing up and taking shots at his teammates was a bit concerning. A lack of perception could cause issues down the line, especially if he is the one calling the shots. And the fact that he would not call out or react to the behavior of his sister was a bit disconcerting.
If there was a way to get on the same page as Calen, Teddy could not figure out what it was. The man seemed to have an issue with everyone, from what he could tell. Teddy was consigned to the fact that Calen was never going to like him a while ago, but it was going to be a rough time trying to keep him in check without breaking into a fight. Teddy still had his gut instinct that said not to trust Calen, and even after their experiences he could not shake that feeling.
From what he could tell, the last girl did not seem to like him either. She did not give him her attention for more than two seconds. She seemed angry, at least toward Calen, and definitely not afraid to speak her mind. Her behavior made Teddy believe that Calen might be his best ally on the team, which is a frightening thought.
Teddy stood away from the group, biting his lip. His eyes moved from the floor, to the two arguing, back to the floor, Setsuna, floor, Jocelyn, floor, Calen, floor. His headspace started filling with anxiety as he thought about the next four years of this. His head dropped, his ears flopping out more than they were previously.

Stepping forward slightly Setsuna was about to intervene in Calen's and Anna's argument before he felt a soft touch on his shoulder. Turning back toward the source he saw Jocelyn with one finger over her slender lips and shaking her head. She was much more adept than her brother at reading this kind of situation and having her brother interrupt would only worsen the situation, even if the action was pure-hearted. And while Setsuna did not like seeing arguments (between Calen and Anna, no less), this was his first time witnessing Anna speak her mind. So he stood down and quietly observed, feeling the tension in the air.

Oh well, at least he seemed to be closer to his usual passive-aggressive self. Lowering her head and letting her hair drift back over her face, she answered him with "You're right, Cal, verbal violence is below physical violence. What I mostly meant was that I have never seen you be convinced by anything other than brute force when pissed off."
Well, that brought that little scuffle to a close, as far as Anna was concerned. She brought her head back up, eyes closed as usual now.

Trust me little girl you have never seen me angry. Calen mused darkly giving Anna one last disparaging grin before turning away, letting their little spat end as suddenly as it started. Taking a deep breath to keep everything trapped in Calen looked up at Jocelyn. 'As your brother said this is ASTC, not our finest moment I'll admit but it's important for everyone to be able to speak their mind. We normally do it on Fridays but thought it would be good to get it out of the way early given we are getting a new member.' Calen remarked, his joyous expression showing nothing of his previous interaction accompanied with a flamboyant bow.
Holding the lowest point of the bow for a few moments longer than normal Calen realised he had completely forgotten about Teddy. 'You as well Master Theodore, we aren't always like this. Well I am, but sometimes there are people shut me up.' Calen continued as he turned and walked towards Teddy finally ice free. Putting an arm around his new team mate Calen half guides half pulls Teddy to be closer to the rest of the group. 'So Miss Antiqua, not that we don't appreciate the new blood, but is there a reason for your visit.' Calen asked slightly distracted, he could see slight movement out of the corner of his vision but couldn't place it.

Oh, now he was being dragged. Why did everyone else have to be taller than him? As he moved back to the group, he silently prayed that this was the most weird things were going to get today. Then again, you usually pray for things you expect not to happen. "Um, h-hello miss Jocelyn." he said sheepishly.
His leader's sister seemed to be rather...unorthodox. The good news was that there was a very good chance that she would completely ignore him for the most part. That was the best thing he could think of when it came to his team, he certainly would not stand out with these guys in the room. And that would provide a small sense of comfort if it were not for the mass of chaos that seems to be following his teammates.

Setsuna sighed in relief when Calen's and Anna's spat ended as quickly as it started. It was becoming pretty obvious Teddy was getting more and more uncomfortable by the second, and a argument resulting in a fight would only escalate it further.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn was busy replying to the words sent her way. "Hello, Theodore." she replied cheerfully, trying to make him feel a bit less uncertain. Turning to Calen, she giggled politely before answering his question. "Well, I just recently joined Beacon and was just wandering around campus--I don't yet have a team, you see--so I decided to get acquainted with the place. When I saw my brother I decided to stay a while."

Ah that explains a lot. Calen mused internally as he finally found the source of the movement beneath his vision. Teddy's bear ears. Tightening his free hand into a rigid fist Calen tried to channel his dark memories away from his face and into a more productive outlet. Releasing his new team mate Calen stepped away few paces openly to make it more of a square but more to get away from the Faunus. 'Well I'm glad we make such appealing targets.' Calen remarked gesturing at Jocelyn's rifle. 'But I understand the school can be a bit overwhelming, you could borrow our 'teddy' if you like.' Calen continued flicking Teddy's bear ear, grinning at the not so clever pun.
Looking around for his blind companion it took Calen a few moments before realising she had gone back to reading in a corner. 'Come on Miss Fall this is a team building session, you can read your smut in class like a normal person.' Calen called out moving to make a gap between himself and the animal. 'So glorious leader how is this going to continue? More braining each other? Truth or Dare? Bake off?' Calen asked not 100% joking.

Setsuna's expression darkened and continued to do so during Calen's "antics". Of course Jocelyn noticed but didn't react to it. "You know Calen, they are your teammates. You should treat them with respect, not insult them at every given opportunity. And yes I know you like teasing people, but you should consider their feelings as well." He took a step forward. "Just because we're in a team together doesn't give you the right to tease others as you wish. I mean, unless they specify they don't mind." A slight gesture toward Anna. "And clearly some people do."

Anna heard her (last) name mentioned, making her pay attention to the ongoing conversation once again.
Oh. So he thought she was reading smut, did he? "Y'know Calen, if anyone on this team actually reads smut, I wouldn't be very surprised if it was you." She briefly wondered if he knew she'd actually found that one book of his that wasn't about cooking, weapons, Grimm or combat in some way. She didn't really know how he'd put it where it was, but it was there regardless.
Her next reaction was to almost choke in laughter at Calen mentioning, with a relatively serious tone, the possibility of a bake off. Gods knew he'd fucking love it, too.

There is a thing about faunus traits that annoys Teddy to no end. They differ in effect wildly from person to person. As is typical of Teddy's luck, his ears are very sensitive to touch. So Calen flicking his ear was almost as painful as the kicks he got earlier. Teddy quickly pulled his hood up over his head, realizing that his ears were on display.
There were a number of things that he could say to Calen at the moment. He was doing his usual skill of pissing off everyone in the room. The flick to the ear combined with the fact that everyone was looking in his direction caused him to just move to the side and put his head down. It wasn't like him saying anything would stop Calen from doing whatever he wanted.

Calen responded noticeably settling once Teddy's faunus features where once again hidden. Out of sight, out of mind and all that. ' Of course Miss Fall, I couldn't get through one of those tedious civics classes with an anacreontic poem or two to keep my mind in a more pleasant place. Some times it's so bad that something more substantial is needed, to be honest half the fun is watch others around me try to read on without attracting to much attention. Unfortunately although their taste is without question their speed of reading could do some work so it often infuriates as much as it pleases.' Calen continues looking squarely at Setsuna. Knowing that it didn't matter to Anna which way he was facing when talking to her Calen instead used the opportunity to drive home his complete disregard for his leaders request.
'Anyway perhaps Master Setsuna would prefer to send a bit of time reacquainting himself with his sister, I'm sure Master Theodore has some ideas to keep the rest of us entertained and on task while you two are busy. Unless you think we've done enough?' Calen finished finally standing up properally and started bouncing on the balls of his feet. Whatever Jocelyn had done, regardless of how unwanted it was, had left Calen in great shape. Ready for another fight if it came to that.

Setsuna opted to sidestep Calen's jests, instead directing enough venom and scorn into his voice to make Jocelyn flinch--in fact, this would be the first time anyone on the team had heard this tone. "I'd be sorry to see my own son acting like some uncivilised being." That was about as far as he could force himself to be rude, however. Still with the same tone, he continued, "Since you seem to be at full force once more. I think it's time to do what your parents couldn't and beat some respect into you." His hand moved to his blade, ready to draw at a moment's notice. There's a reason why I was chosen to be leader. And here I will prove it. Clearly, first impressions were not to be believed with this Calen. Jocelyn crossed quickly over to Teddy's side, face clearly showing concern. "I think we'd better move away." She murmured softly, gently directing him toward where Anna was sitting. "If I know my brother, Calen has just pushed one too many buttons."

Anna was still reading her stuff, vaguely being aware that Calen'd mentioned her again - probably in some sort of derogatory manner, too. However, it was at this moment she realized it. From the sounds of the clash between Teddy and Calen, both had speed semblances. Which meant that not only was she the sole woman on this team, but - and hang on, here comes the best part - she was the only one who didn't have a speed semblance. She stopped reading for a bit, lifting her head to face an utterly invisible horizon.
What.
Sure, she could see them with her semblance at full power, but what the hell, Inverno? What was the point of this, to make a team capable of winning the relay race in a time so short, it'd test the chronometer's response speed?
Her thoughts were cut short when someone spoke. She almost didn't recognize him, but it was Setsuna.
Things weren't looking good back there. She buried herself in her reading material once again, hoping she wouldn't have to intervene.

Calen gave a quite chuckle and small smile as the situation seemed to rapidly change. Well then, it seems you'll have your comeuppance earlier than planned dear leader. Calen mused as he finished his stretches. 'They tried Master Setsuna and I doubt you will go as far as they did. I've been wrong before of course, it would be nice to finally be pleasantly surprised by you dear leader.' Calen remarked taking a few steps back to give Jocelyn and Teddy plenty of room to slip away. This wasn't at all how he thought this day was going to go but he was quite pleased with it. Although Calen had long since accepted that Setsuna would always been their leader he still chocked under even moderate supervision. This would be a good time to show who had the real power in the relationship
Finally unsheathing his weapon Calen gave it a few swings until Setsuna signalled he was ready. No flourishes this time, his opponent knew the quality of his blade work and despite how much Calen loved to show off it wouldn't do here. Despite how much he may have appeared recovered he was still a bit stiff from sparring with Teddy and needed to conserve his energy until it really mattered. Just makes it more interesting. Calen thought to himself, spinning his free arm to get out as many kinks as possible.
'Last chance to back out Master Setsuna. I'll even not hold it over you for long. Least I can do, know I wouldn't want to be embarrassed in front of my sister.' Calen taunted adopting a relaxed pose the gaunt boy cocked his head to one side and tried to look bored. He didn't quite succeed, Calen had been looking forward for this for too long to not take some pleasure in making Setsuna scream in front of everyone.

None of the proceedings helped Teddy's perception of his teammates, but at least the leader's sister has some sense to her. With a small nod to her, he said "You would know him better than I would." With that, he followed her to the stands, keeping his hood up. He did not look at Jocelyn for more than a split second at a time, his hands in the pocket of his hoodie and constantly fidgeting.
Teddy quickly took a seat in the stands, vaguely hoping that Jocelyn would sit a little ways down next to Anna. It wasn't that he did not like her, he just had...issues around women. Besides, he wasn't that interesting. Surely, Jocelyn would ignore him and take to the other girl in the scenario.

"You wish you had a sister like mine," Setsuna responded, with less of the venom in his voice now. "Too bad your father pulled out when he saw you." He wasn't letting the wordplay distract him from the important information in front of him.
Calen wasn't showing his normal elegance with his warmup swings. He didn't know if that meant Calen was taking this seriously or if he couldn't even be bothered. Either way, the fight wouldn't go the same way as Teddy's match. He'd seen Calen in action, and vice versa. And while his skills were up-to-par, half of his fighting style relied on trash-talking, something he'd gotten used to at this point. Despite Jocelyn healing Calen, he was sure Calen still felt some degree of fatigue from the previous match.
Equilibrium is useless against a fast opponent. That being said... He drew his sword and just stood there. "Ready." She got the hint. How could anyone not get the hint with it being that obvious. Respecting his space, Jocelyn moved closer to Anna, though not close enough to see what she was reading, and sat down, watching the scene unfold.

Anna kept reading, mostly ignoring the verbal - and, as it seemed it would soon get, not-so-verbal - spar (fight?) between her leader and the resident bitch with a heart of gold. The only movement she demonstrated was a slight turn of the head to her left, where the steps of two individuals approached. After listening for about a second, Anna concluded, by the accompanying sounds, pattern and the fact that varying amounts of venom were still being spewed by her (not new) teammates in the arena proper, that the footsteps belonged to Teddy and Jocelyn, who sat down some distance away.
She resumed her previous position, hair swaying a bit as she turned again.

'I'm sorry Master Setsuna but my conception took place a fair while before my birth. Nine months to be precise but regardless there might be some validity to that. I am the youngest after all.' Calen laughed happly diverging more and more personal information. The anger he already felt seemed to off set the despair he normally felt looking back that far. 'As for the quality of our female siblings I can't say I agree although I'm they would prefer you as a brother. Let me show you something one taught me. It's been a while so please forgive any missteps.' Calen continued still quietly chuckling. Reaching into his pocket and took out his scroll Calen starting play a song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtIdUgdQvAo) to accompany the fight.
Waiting until the violin first come in Calen launched himself at Setsuna with a burst of his semblance. Crossing the distance between them in a blink of an eye Calen finished a few meters away from his leader and immediately began his assault. Every step, every blow timed exactly to to music as Calen surged around his opponent, gone was his slow building dance replaced by a fast paced flurry of graceful movements lashing out at Setsuna. Calen was smiling, it was freeing in a way to fight like this, to become lost in the music and the dance and lose all his cares.

Oh, a song. It was kind of sad and melancholic and completely not what he expected of Calen's taste in music. Considering the heavy metal he was blasting at the start, this was a complete turnaround of his character. Then again, with his dancing bladework this had good chemistry.
From what he witnessed, Calen was enjoying the music; seeing a smile blossom on Calen's face almost made him forget that he was currently under assault. In response, Setsuna let his shield deflect all the strikes, directing the momentum from each hit to the side so that Calen could continue his elegant dance without suffering too much recoil.

Calen was a little disappointed that none of his initial flurry find their mark. He understood that it wasn't likely to get a serious advantage against such an able defensive fighter like Setsuna but it wasn't doing anything to show his leader up. That needed to change. Matching a pause in the music with a feint high followed by a savage strike aimed low at Setsuna's legs. As the music came back in Calen tried to kick his leader back through his shield, jumping up and hammering both feet onto the cold steel and launching himself backwards. Extending his weapon out into it's glaive form Calen continued to move in time with music, slowly closing the distance. Graceful and beautiful movements combined with flourishes with his weapon, the reds and yellows of the glaive fused into a gold disk, a snake coiled and ready to strike. And again as the music increased in tempo that strike came, diving straight for the shoulder of Setsuna's sword arm.
Regardless of the effectiveness of the attack Calen in going to try to keep up his assault, using the additional reach, strength and speed to try to bash through Setsuna's defence. The down side of this weapon form is was more predictable although with Calen's simple objective that might not be such a bad thing.

More of Calen's swift and smooth bladework. What the world had gained in a Hunter it had lost in a potential world-class dancer. However, that Hunter-to-be hadn't yet grasped the concept that if he didn't want to go on the offensive, there wasn't much critical damage that Calen could potentially deal to him.
Moving his blade to parry the high, finding it to be a fake, then hopping the low blow left Setsuna in the air and unable to brace against the kick. Thankfully his shield held strong once more and only pushed him back a few paces. And as Calen lunged straight for his right arm, following the rhythm of the music, he twisted aside and let Calen's momentum carry through. At this early stage, staying purely on defence and letting Calen try and break his wall suited Setsuna perfectly fine. When it came to his turn to attack, Calen had no shield to do the same.

OK this would not do. Calen thought to himself spinning his weapon around for another strike. He can't just hide behind his shield the entire fight can he? Calen's thought process continued. But hold it did; again and again Calen's glaive coiled into it's snake like disk only to bounce off against his opponent's shield, again and again did Calen try to dance his way to Setsuna's side only to be cut off by the latter's foot work at the last moment. It was infuriating. Calm. Calen warned himself. Dancing backwards Calen kept moving in time with the music but as the song petered out his movements became slower, more precise as he continued to circle looking for an entry through Setsuna's guard.
Orbiting counter clock wise to try to get himself into one of Setsuna's blind spots on his shield side Calen loosed his stance but still moving in time. Standing completely upright Calen held his glaive in one hand, on the hilt and used it to flicker jab into Setsuna's face. Minimal force could be applied to the attack but Calen was counting on protective instinct to force Setsuna to block the attack regardless. This would be Calen's opportunity to break the stale mate, closing the distance with Setsuna's head, and therefore eyes, covered by his shield Calen hoped to grab the annoying sheet of metal and wrench it out of his leaders hands with the help of his semblance shooting Calen back. Failing that it may but the shields man off balance allow for some decent blows regardless and still keep initiative with the dancer.

He's going to change something up soon, Setsuna thought, listening to Calen's repeated attempts to slip past his shield synchronise with the music, clangs and scrapes not mixing very well with the sounds of Calen's tunes. Two more jabs, aimed at his face, came rushing in with the same speed as before, and he lifted his shield to block, resulting in two "pings" as they bounced off the surface once more. I hope Calen realises I'm not just holding it-- was all he managed to form into a cohesive thought before Calen gave an almighty yank on the shield and sent him rushing forward.
Deciding to use the momentum Setsuna gathered his feet under him and shield bashed Calen to force him away from his shield. Assuming Calen would be able to dodge the headlong rush easily with a pulse of his semblance he quickly slowed the rush and turned to whichever direction Calen would end up in.

Now we are getting somewhere. Calen grinned internally. Of course it would have been better if he could have gotten the shield away but Calen could take any advantage he could get. Feeling Setsuna shift for a shield bash behind his weapon Calen opened his stance allowing the shield to collide straight into his chest. Smashing the wind out of his lungs Calen remained on task wrapping his free arm around Setsunas shield, grabbing the extended arm and pulling back, not to put his opponent off balance but more to position the shield between himself and Setsuna's sword. Collapsing his weapon down to it's sword form Calen now tried to exploit Setsuna's exposed shield side with two quick slashes.
Knowing that he couldn't maintain this forever Calen extended his weapon out to glaive form as he retracts from his second strike. Getting the haft behind Setsuna's leg Calen tries to trip his leader combined with a not insubstantial shove through the shield. If successful Calen will back off giving his opponent space to rise unhindered, twirling his weapon, moving slowly in time to the dying music and smirking, can't forget the smirking. If unsuccessful Calen will release his hold on the shield, spinning Setsuna in the same direction he was pulling free to get some more quick slashes in. After a few moments of quite the song starts to repeat, building slowly and regardless of the outcome of trip Calen moves to continue is assault with the same fury as his opener.

Wait, he didn't dodge? Setsuna instinctively tried to pull back but Calen's hold on his shield prevented it. Failing to exit the engagement he raised his sword in time to parry one of Calen's strikes but the latter's agility resulted in the blade slipping past his guard and striking his aura.
Feeling Calen's glaive before he saw it Setsuna felt his mass shift toward the rear. Combined with Calen's shove this resulted in him losing his balance and starting to fall. However instead of doing so he pushed off the floor with his legs in his position resulting in a left handstand, before gathering Aura in his left arm and shoving off the floor in a display of quick thinking and strength, landing on both feet. He couldn't resist doing a curtsy mocking Calen's style.

Damage Output: ▫ No attacks launched After watching the duo have at each other for a while and flinching slightly each time Calen's blade struck at Setsuna's increasingly battered shield, Jocelyn turned to the very silent girl beside her with a question. "Umm...Sorry if I'm interrupting, but...is Calen always that mocking?" She asked, loud enough that Teddy could hear, but not loud enough to pass through the music into the fighter's ears.

Anna flinched a bit when Setsuna's sister spoke up. Well, her head jerked up a bit - that's about all that happened, really. She couldn't get out of it this time, though. She had to answer.
With a very small voice, she answered "Y-yes a-and no. I-it varies, but th-this is f-far from his b-best." Of course, this was accompanied by furious blushing fortuitously hidden by her hair.

'Straight back Master Setsuna, only bend with your neck. Not saying you should never curve your back, or even it doesn't show respect but it belongs more with night work than a curtsy.' Calen remarked regardless of how precise his opponents movements were without not breaking his stride. Originally the plan was to go the entire fight with his usual banter as it would take away from the music but that opening was simply too appealing to resist. Speaking of the music Calen went back on the assault as the music picked up again. Again Calen rushed forward with his semblance striking with the same ferocity as before, alternating left and right side aimed slashes followed up by a stab aimed low. Although Calen understood he wasn't going to break through he still needed to keep Setsuna on the back foot for his strategy to work.
Aware that Setsuna would likely be more protective of his shield after after his attempted grapple Calen tried to edge around to his opponents right side. Although this exposes Calen more to a counter attack it forces Setsuna to rely more on instincts than active decision making due to the speed allowing for exploitation later in the fight.

"Thank you, I'll keep that in mind." Setsuna responded with genuine thanks. Once more, Calen engaged with the starting of the music, closing the distance with another pulse of his semblance. This was followed up by a flurry of alternating strikes. In response the sword bits on his shield shifted outward to increase the surface coverage, and blocked each hit with ease. The stab was met with a low parry of his own blade, directing it away from his leg.
Allowing Calen to move to his right Setsuna removes one of the shorter sword bits from his shield, flipping it like a dagger and assuming a slightly more offensive stance. With his sword-wielding hand he shifts his sword into gun mode and fires three relatively accurate shots for freehand aiming.

Damage Output: ▫ 3x3% rounds fired This was new. Jocelyn had of course seen girls be shy, but Anna seemed to take this to another level. "Hey, Anna. It's annoying having a brother sometimes. He can be really clueless, and it's kind of sad not having anyone that I can relate to." she said softly. "Maybe you feel the same way, being the only girl?"

Anna turned some more towards the Antiqua besides her, completely lost now. Between her face blushing like mad and her head spinning, she had no clue what Jocelyn was talking about. You're the guy's sister, how is this invading the practice? Why would she feel the same because she was the only girl??
The only thing to come out of her mouth was an extremely confused "Huh?"

Oh that's right guns exist. Calen thought to himself as Setsuna transformed his blade into it's rifle form. Too close to avoid the first two shorts Calen took them in his chest and ducked low beneath the last. Grabbing hold of the rifle Calen tried to hold the arm outstretched, blocking the path for Setsuna's shield and dagger as well as protecting him from future shots, to get some more quick slashes in before the music goes to it's first refrain. Aiming at the harder to defend back and sword side Calen moved gracefully in time with the music before releasing his hold on Setsuna's weapon. As the refrain came in Calen again feinted high but rather than strike low again, drew one of his daggers and tried to slip that through instead. Simultaneous with his dagger trust Calen extended the haft of his weapon into it's glaive form for a good smash aimed at Setsuna's head.
Coming back to the heart of the song the pacing became much more stable and as such so did Calen's assault. Quickly changing his glaive back into it's sword form Calen adopted a more balanced approach recognising his opponent's turn to the offensive while still wanting to dictate the terms of the engagement. Casually twirling both blades in his hands when not striking Calen continued his assault in a more precise and acrobatic way, dancing his way into and out of engagements.

Teddy tried to keep his attention on the fight, he really did. But, the sight of a human being drowning on dry land only a few feet away from him was hard to ignore. He sympathized, he really did. There had to be something he could do for her. Even if it seemed like she didn't like him.
"U-um...hey Anna. D-Do you mind showing me the way to the dorm room, please?" he said, making up an excuse on the fly to get Anna away from Jocelyn. But now he was going to leave Jocelyn by herself, and Setsuna would get mad. And Calen is going to make fun of him again, the rat bastard.
Teddy let out a defeated sigh. It seemed that even when he was trying to help, he dug himself further and further into the shit pile.

With his arm wrested out of his control, Setsuna couldn't pull his left hand fast enough to parry any of the slashes that flew swiftly under his guard. With Calen's disengage he tried to present his shield side to the moving person, but the agility of Calen's footwork paired with a steadily increasing numbness in his sword arm meant he couldn't keep up. The follow-up low sweep coupled with the haft smash went through completely unguarded, his right arm refusing to move any faster.
Even without the intent to do any lasting harm (at least he hoped), the sudden combined assault sent Setsuna almost flying back, knocking him against the arena wall. The need for air that indicated he was clearly winded, the sore headache from his rude introduction to Calen's glaive, and his now completely stiff sword arm. Never mind keep fighting--he couldn't move in his condition. Jocelyn was about to say something to Anna to explain herself, but the resounding smack drew her attention back to the battle. Witnessing the events that occurred, she abruptly cut her query off and entered the arena toward her brother, hand moving toward the pack on her waist.

While Anna's befuddled (and hair-covered) frown endured, the new guy, a.k.a. Theodore, asked her to show him to the team's dorm. It was this moment somebody busy fighting chose to get smacked into a wall, prompting Jocelyn to get up and go. Probably to see if everything was fine, judging by her earlier behavior, but Anna couldn't see thoughts; just movement. And optical light.
Still, the sudden removal of one person allowed her to feel a bit more at ease, enabling her to say a "Sure." without stuttering. She closed her scroll, gingerly propped herself standing and started towards the exit, keeping an excruciatingly slow pace until her new teammate caught up.

Calen did not expect the fight to end so quickly, after hammering away mostly ineffectively against Setusna's defenses the dancer hardly expected to slip though in such a devastating way. And before I could get to the actual lesson. Calen thought to himself dejectedly Sheathing his weapons. Looked like their little training session was over with Teddy and Anna already walking off to the rooms and Jocelyn had moved to comfort her brother who lay motionless. 'Didn't even get to the fun bit Master Setsuna but at least we found out the what lessons taught by out sisters was superior. Miss Antiqua do you require directions to the medical bay, the least I can do is assist in carrying our dear friend after putting him in such a sorry state... well more of a sorry state.' Calen remarked walking briskly towards the pair of siblings.
Waving goodbye to the departing two members of their team Calen continued. 'Miss Fall, Master Theodore, I'll see you back at the room I suppose. Try not to jump at your own shadows if you can, it looks bad on the rest of us.' Calen was running even higher on pride and adrenaline than normal which meant unfortunately his taunting would only get worse for now.

Teddy stood from his seat, his attention drawn to several things at the same time. Calen flung Setsuna against the wall, Jocelyn jumped from the stands, and Anna was heading for the door. He quickly looked from person to person trying to piece together precisely what the hell was happening. Setsuna seemed hurt, but not seriously so. Teddy was going to stay and help Setsuna get back on his feet, but Calen's particular personality made him decide against it.
Moving to the door, Teddy quickly caught up to Anna. "Thank you." he said, walking alongside her.

Reaching Setsuna before Calen did and barely noticing the other two people leave, Jocelyn examined the conditions her brother was left in. Stiff right arm with no sign of any Dust residue--likely to have struck a nerve or pressure point. Short rapid breaths--sign of being winded from impact with wall. Possible slight concussion from getting hit in the head. Setsuna himself was conscious but weak. Even with his Aura healing him it would take a little while before all the symptoms faded. "He'll heal in time. Help me bring him to a place he can rest." Jocelyn said to Calen in a serious tone that brooked no nonsense.

As Theo caught up, Anna resumed walking at her usual pace. "No problem.", she managed to respond yet again without stuttering. Was it because doing it once made it easier afterwards?
She took a turn before reaching the door and started heading through the tunnels towards the dorms, not wanting to bother going outside in this horrid, blizzard-esque weather.

There was nothing that deflated Calen faster than being ignored, His pride prevented him of vocalising this discontent locking him into a disgruntled silence. Reaching down to Setsuna Calen gathered his leader in a simple princess carry and carried him to the nearest bench/table before laying Setsuna gently down. Awkwardly backing away Calen made sure to give Jocelyn as much as space as she needed to do whatever she wanted to. Surprised that Setsuna wasn't being taken to the sick bay, even though the injuries didn't seem serious neither did Taro's and he still hadn't awoken so Calen felt that it would be better safe that sorry. However the gaunt boy was unsure of how to bring this up without causing even more offense so instead Calen just sat down quitely, still a reasonable distance away from Setsuna and Jocelyn.

Teddy never got used to the tunnels. He was used to living on city streets, but he always kept above ground. Thankfully, he could just trust that Anna could show him the way. "I hate going through these tunnels. Not being able to see landmarks always throws me off a bit." he said, completely ignorant of the fact that she was blind.
