The Vytal Festival tournament, as many know, is an event notable for celebrating diversity, individuality, and self-expression. However, the modern iteration is also home to corporate greed and plentiful advertisements and sponsorships. After what would seem like an eternity, the final advertisement would finally come to a close. ”-And you too can be the epitome of power, elegance, or whatever else you desire...with Schnee dust. The Schnee Dust Company is not liable for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company Product. Supplementary safety brochure is included with every product. As the final ad concluded, the familiar crackling of the speaker returned as it always did before a match.
”Good afternoon and welcome back to the second round of the forty-first bi-annual Vytal Festival tournament! As you know I’m Primrose Palatine. It would seem Hunter is missing in action, but I’m sure you can all pardon his absence. Anyways, excuse all of the ads, but they help pay for this wonderful event so please bear with us. Speaking of wonderful though, we have another exquisite matchup today! Our first combatant, Mr. Juno Vert was able to single handedly take down the ‘up-and-coming legend’ Coconut Cream. But will his hardlight be enough to take down his opponent, Billy Bone; the quickdraw sniper who won through...opponent concession. While an unmerited victory, we’ll see if they can prove their worth in this second round match!” Motioning to the spinner to begin, the program would be able to begin rather flawlessly due to the unexcused absence of a certain announcer.
A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Ice and Swamp.
The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Juno’s side, a frozen lake would constitute the entire field. Almost completely frozen through, one wouldn’t need to worry about falling through, but only slipping and sliding around. Arising from this lake would be 5 cylindrical pillars of ice hollowed out in the center. Filled with ice cold water, these would spray anyone within proximity to them when shot, pierced, etc. What a shame that such beautiful ice creations had to be used for this. On Billy’s side, a shallow, muddy marsh would rise, featuring no platforms of note this time. A couple of downed trees can be found within the area, both large enough to crouch behind for cover. Be warned though, crouching in the marsh water is gross.
As the spinner finished its job and faded away, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.
(A coin flip has decided that Billy will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

Billy was too in the zone to be happy that they got her name right this time. She ran out of the gate to see what she could hide behind only to find that it was a marsh territory. She looked over to the ice side and shook her head. Not again. After the quick glance, Billy decided that it would be beneficial to stain her clothes once more. She ran and slide behind one of the downed trees and took aim at the opposite gate. When she saw him, she would peak out from around the log and fire a warning shot straight into his chest.

A fighter who won because their opponent dipped. The announcer was right; a win like that was unmerited. Welp, he was here to rectify that. If Bone could beat him, then she was the real deal. If not, well...
Juno frowned as the doors opened on both sides and the two entered the arena. Swamp and Ice. Not great for traction on one end, and murky water didn’t do him any favors either. Not to mention that he had to close the gap against a sniper. He’d have to figure out an approach quickly, and find a more stable way to move around than sprinting. As the young man took a moment to draw his blade, he had an idea.
A muzzle flash from the other side of the field cut his attention, his sword arm already on the move to protect center mass with the large flat of his blade as the gunshot rang out. A loud CLANG rang out as the bullet connected with his blade, prompting him to frown. At least Coconut had been kind enough to introduce himself. Well aware that remaining stationary was a poor life choice, Juno constructed a pair of grappling lines, squatted a bit to lower his center of gravity, and fired them both into the ground behind one of the pillars, forcefully yanking on them once they had buried themselves into the ice as to pull himself behind cover.
Now within the relative safety of the ice pillar, Juno peeked out of cover in a bid to look for his opponent, quickly shifting Type J into its Eruption form and depressing its triggers.

Billy peeked around the other side of the tree to see Juno peeking around the ice/water tower. Seeing each other peeking at one another, she quickly opened fire at the ice/water tower above where Juno was peeking from. Hoping to blind him at best, splashing him with water at the least. She snuck behind the log once more this time to change ammo to electrically charged rounds, then readied for whatever came next.

Juno ducked behind cover the second he got a bead on her position, clutching the blade tightly as a shot rang out. At the very least, he knew where his opponent was, now. He just needed to find a way to approach. Flinching as he was suddenly doused in near freezing water, his look of surprise quickly turned to one of annoyance, the pillars’ lack of durability only serving to make his approach difficult. Not to mention that cold water seeping into your underpants is generally uncomfortable.
Deciding that he might as well act now, Juno carefully adjusted his position behind cover and got to his feet, utilizing two slots to project a tower shield that floated about three feet in front of him. The Charging sword tight in his grip, Juno began to advance slowly, his eyes on the log that his opponent hid behind as he traversed the icy field. The sooner he could get some traction, the better.

Billy peeked her head out from the log to take aim at Juno but only found that his shield was up and facing her. She tisked at this and hopped over the log and started running at an angle toward him and the ice rink. She knew what traction she had when she was in the marsh, was going to be gone on the ice. So in that case she threw her semblance lasso out at one of the far pillars of ice/water to his left. She used the speed from the run along with the semblance rope as as guiding line to propel her over the ice, still at that angle. When sliding, she took aim at Juno and fired an electric dust round at him. Once safely on the other side of the ice pillar she deactivated her semblance but continued to slide.

Juno’s eyes shot open as the round impacted his shoulder, a pained cry escaping his lips as he realized his shield had been bypassed entirely with the girl’s movement. The added electricity dust didn’t do him any favors either, his free hand flying to his shoulder as his arm spasmed, coming dangerously close to striking the floor with his blade. So this was how it was going to be.
The young man took a moment to judge the girl’s momentum and positioned himself, adjusting ever so slightly to account for her momentum. Once he had deconstructed his shield and set his trajectory, Juno struck the ground behind him with the blade, the impact of which set the dust catalyst and prompted the sword to release a decently powerful explosion. The blast propelled Juno forward and slightly into the air, though he was quick to land back onto his feet and slide across the icy ground. As he approached the girl, he reared his arm back, letting loose with a slash to her legs as he slid alongside her.

Billy turned her head toward the sound of the explosion. She saw Juno flying towards her. Due to the ice, she was unable to do anything to stop him from colliding with her and knocking her off her feet with the sword. She continued to slide around the ice, this time spinning on her back with her feet and tail stuck up in the air. She used this momentum to bash the butt of her rifle against his back leg for one, two, three rotations.

Juno was quick to bury his sword into the ice once his slash connected deep, the blade acting as a brake as his momentum slowed considerably. However, as he attempted to rebalance, Billy’s rifle struck his ankle thrice, knocking him further off balance and nearly causing him to slip and fall flat on his ass, his grip on the blade and an outstretched arm being the only thing keeping him from doing so. Pursing his lips as he straightened back up and shook out his ankle, Juno stomped on her stomach, stopping her rotation as his foot firmly remained where it landed. “Was that particularly necessary?” he asked, an annoyed tone to his voice as he pulled the blade from the ice. His eyes flicking to her rifle, Juno held the tip of his sword to the hand that currently clasped the rifle, his fingers squeezing Type-J’s trigger to charge its dust catalyst.

Billy had the wind knocked out of her as the foot stomped on her stomach. "Was that particularly necessary?" he asked as he loomed over her. Billy glared up at him and the charging sword. She didn't quite know what it did yet, but she didn't want to stick around to find out.
"No, but this is," Billy said as she switched ammo to her kinetic dust rounds.
She gave him a two finger salute before she aimed at his stomach and fired quickly. The kinetic shot would send her sliding back across the ice and into the marshy territory. She flew back, shoulder first into a log, cracking it. (I'd imagine it would send Juno flying back as well, but that's up to you.)

Juno’s eyes grew wide as the girl opened fire, the shot impacting his stomach and launching him into the air. Attempting to keep his blade from impacting the ground, Juno twisted his body in the air, drawing a grunt in pain as he landed hard on his back and slid across the ice, only coming to a stop once he hit the barrier. He was back to square one. Brilliant.
An agitated sigh escaped his lips as he got back up, shaking out the pain in his shoulders before constructing another shield with two of his available slots. He’d be ready for her this time. He was already familiar with her mobility, and she couldn’t crack his shield without electric rounds. All he needed to do was stay in his range, play his game, and keep her from running away.
With the shield in place, Juno began to advance on the spot she had landed, his footsteps careful and grounded as he traversed the cracked and partially thawing ice.

There was a loud CRACK as both Billy and the log collided. Billy saw the log had cracked after all the force of her flying backward after the kinetic shot. Billy herself was dazed as she looked around to see what she had done. Juno was on the other side of the field and she was back by the safety of her log. Albeit, much dirtier than she was before. She hopped over the log and switched ammo again. This time she went with her fire dust, explosive rounds. She took aim and fired off a round into Juno's shields hoping that there would be some knockback, if not some damage being taken.

The young man braced himself as the gunshot rang out, the explosive shell impacting the shield and forcing it, and Juno back a few inches along the ice. Several cracks were starting to form along the face of the shield, but it held firm. For how long, though, Juno didn’t know. He needed to close the distance.
Shifting the floating shield aside, Juno flicked the wrist of his free hand, constructing and lobbing a single disk toward Billy. As the projectile travelled along its arc, Juno began to run, his speed hindered by his need to maintain something resembling balance as he held the cracked shield in front of him. His pace slowed as he crossed the midline into the marsh, his shield held firm in front of him. Sure, it wouldn’t be great for his more acrobatic kicks, but who needs to kick people when you have an explosive sword?

Billy was quite pleased with herself when the explosive went off. She paused to see how his shields were holding up to see something flat and round sailing through the smoke. Was it a ball? No, it was too flat. Was it a bullet? No, it was going too slow. Then it hit her... on the forehead. It was a disk that knocked off 5% aura. Billy was not amused by that lapse of judgment she just had. She ducked back under the log and hurriedly switched her ammo to normal bullets before she did anything else. Then thought of a game plan. She popped her head back out from behind the log, wow he was much closer than he was earlier, and sent out her lasso to loop his legs together.

Juno had barely gotten a look at the girl before he had suddenly felt something wind around his ankles, forcing him off balance as he fell into the murky swamp water that covered the floor. As he fell, Juno destroyed his shield and forced himself to fall onto his back as to avoid the sword making any unwanted contact. Gods, this was going to be hell to wash out of his jacket, let alone his hair.
A quick inspection of his predicament prompted a frown. Some sort of aura tendril? Strange. The young man’s aura flared about him as he attempted to break free, and while he was pleasantly surprised that it had worked, he was still rather annoyed with the girl. However... he was close enough that he could end it as he pleased. He just needed a little more time to get the sword ready.
Eyes darting to where he had last seen the girl, Juno dropped into a squat behind the log, inching across its side as he moved toward the corner for a better vantage point.

Billy was still and as silent as she could be. She heard the SPLAT of Juno hitting the ground and as she reeled in her lasso, she felt it's lack of Juno within it. She heard some SQUELCHING sounds coming from the other side of the log assuming it would be him getting up. Her first plan(now dashed), her still needing to prove herself, and that burning need for victory, egged her on to do probably the next stupidest thing she could think of. She jumped from the crouching position behind the log to the top of it to quickly locate her competitor. As soon as she located him, she fired off a round at him. She then flipped her rifle into hammer mode and got ready for a close-up, one on one, mele action.

Juno hissed as the round impacted his free arm’s shoulder, eyes flicking to the direction of the offending shot, only to be taken aback when he saw his opponent. She had jumped onto the log. Why? Hell if he knew. But he could make this work. Maintaining the charge despite the sword’s lowering dust supply, Juno slowly began to walk back, gesturing for her to strike him. ”Aight, I see how it is.” He mused, glancing at his sword, the normally obsidian dust catylist now burning with a brilliant white glow.
“I want you to hit me. As hard as you can. Show me what you can do with that thing.”

"Let's dance." Billy said in her southern Vaccuon drawl. She charged him, running down the log. Then jumping and flying toward him, with her hammer ready to fly downward on to him at a slight angle, she struck with almost the same force, if not more, as her gun would have.

As the girl swung, Juno took a deep breath, steeling himself for the impact... only for his aura to erupt around him, his brilliant violet subsiding just enough to reveal what seemed to be a silhouette of the young man, with its only prominent features being brilliant white hair and a pair of pure, glowing white eyes. The impact did not shake Juno, his timely activation of Full Stop had made sure of that. Sure, it stung, but the hammer’s weight and momentum meant nothing in the face of an all but immovable object.
Once Juno found the freedom to move again, he acted quickly, grabbing Billy by the arm and throwing her to the ground before crouching over her and firmly planting a hand on her back, his sword bearing arm reared back for a punch. ”Good try.” he mused before lashing out, removing his hand just a second before he punched her in the spine with his blade.
The punch itself wasn’t much to write home about. The explosion that followed, however, shook the stage itself, displacing the water around them and cracking the ground across both biomes. It was no mistake that Juno had triggered Full Stop before striking with Type J, as the fiery eruption that ensued from his strike would have no doubt thrown him into the other side of the arena. As the flames, dust, and clumps of dirt and rock thrown about subsided, Juno stood above his opponent, his body singed and sore. Breathing heavily, the young man stepped back a bit from his opponent, planting his sword into the ground as water began to trickle into the small crater his impact had resulted in.
In spite of his pain, a quick glance to the scoreboard was all that was needed to bring a smile to his lips. 47% to 12%, much cleaner than his match with Coconut. However, a look to his opponent gave cause for that smile to falter, as he dropped into a squat in order to get a closer look. ”Hey, uh... you doing alright?”

Billy didn't exactly know what was going on, just that it was a semblance thing that she hadn't accounted for. And man was that semblance thing strong. Time seemed to go in 'fast-forward' mode as Billy was thrown to the ground and had her back almost obliterated. There was a huge explosion that happened directly on top of her and with how fast she felt her aura healing her she knew she was out of the fight.
"Hey, uh... you doing alright?” Came from behind her as soon as her hearing came back from the blast.
She rolled onto her aching back and threw up a thumbs up, before sitting up slowly. She was covered in marsh slime but she seemed to have a mildly cheerful attitude about her situation.
"That was some great fighting going on back there. Great skill." Billy said as she tipped her hat to him.
"I'll be rootin' for you in the next round."
