Title: Meet and Beat [Team CASA][Closed]
Post by: MonsterManic on November 07, 2018, 02:45:46 PM
All good things must come to an end.

That was what Jocelyn kept repeating to herself as she sat on the floor, Ice Dust crystal cupped in her hand rhythmically glowing and fading with her luminous Aura. To the uneducated viewer, she looked like she was meditating, or perhaps training her Aura to flow through a conduit. But to the leader of team CASA, they’d know that Jocelyn was trying to calm her emotions through the usage of her Semblance, letting the cooling properties of the Ice Dust travel through her body.

All in vain. There was no stopping the anxiety and nervousness that surpassed the feeling of taking a test which one hadn’t revised for, or even one of Prism’s “early-morning issues”. No, it was the feeling of losing someone who, in her own way, she cared for and considered part of her extended family.

Amane was gone, called away by one of her unknown ‘benefactors’ for reasons she couldn’t reveal. That left a rift in the team, but more importantly, left a hole in Jocelyn’s heart that wouldn’t be easy to heal. She knew that psychological damage could be fatal if left untreated - she was a medic, she knew her business - and so fervently hoped that their new member would be someone who their team could get along well with. To herself Jocelyn silently commended Beacon’s administrative staff for being able to find a suitable replacement for their team as quickly as they did, though apparently this was fairly common among Beacon teams.

The sun was beginning to fall overhead, its shine casting shadows through the hall’s rounded glass roof. If their member was to show themselves, it would be now.

Azure had finally been put on a team. This, to her, was encouragement, proof that she really did belong at Beacon. Being teamless had reminded her of the first award show she had attended. She hadn’t felt deserving of the award, felt that she wasn’t actually supposed to be there; that they must have made some type of mistake, because how, otherwise, could she, of all people, be the one on stage accepting the award? Getting a team had been like that. Beacon was the award, in this case-- something she didn’t really believe she had achieved-- and getting a team had erased that nagging feeling. Surely, if they put her in a team and had yet to send her back to Atlas, then they must actually want her? Then it wasn’t just some flaw in the system that had accidentally accepted her?

This was what circled through Azure’s head as she made her way to the combat arena, her black boots thudding lightly against the walkway beneath her. The setting sun bounced a glare off the glass roof of the arena as she approached it, she raised a hand to block the light from her eyes. A grin graced her lips. Azure always loved meeting new people, and joining a team meant meeting three new people at once! However, there was the side factor of then having to live with said new people for the rest of her stay at Beacon, whether they got along or not. She could only hope they would get along. From what she had heard, she would be replacing an older member who had, for reasons unknown to her, either left the team or the school all together. She was hoping death wasn’t the cause for their leaving.

She wasn’t sure how she felt being a replacement member; she assumed the other three people were already familiar with each other, she would be the outsider of the group. Whatever, she wouldn’t mind.

As she came upon the arena, Azure reached out with her semblance, feeling for the energy of a crowd. The only one she detected was in the opposite direction, and much too large to be the other team members. From the arena, she felt nothing. She knew it was a bit of a stretch, three barely counted as a crowd, but she still should have been able to feel something, even if it was small. Were they not there yet? She hoped she wasn’t arriving too early.

Azure was the type of girl to make sure she had a clear reputation, and in order to do so she couldn’t be the first one there; she didn’t want to seem overly eager, like she truly was. Rockstars weren’t rude, per say-- she didn’t want to be annoyingly late-- but they also weren’t the type of people to show up first to social events. Hopefully the lack of energy from the training grounds just meant there were only two of the three teammates around. Although she supposed being the first one there would mean she could play a song or two. Azure was all about first impressions, and first impressions using music were her favourite to make.

Renegade, like always, was stored on her back. She assumed a meeting in the arena meant some type of combat, whether it was just some casual sparring or a full match, so she figured brining Renegade would be a good idea. The matte black guitar clicked slightly as she walked, shifting in it’s holster; it was a little loose, she had been meaning to fix that for a while but had never gotten around it.

Azure took her guitar out as she walked, holding it casually in one hand like the axe it was. She entered the ring, walking in slowly, flicking a strand of black and blue hair from her face. The first thing she noticed upon entry was the girl sitting in the middle of the ring, holding a Dust crystal in her hand. There were no signs of others, which explained the lack of crowd energy.

“Hey,” Azure said as she approached the girl. She dropped down onto the ground across from her, a few feet away, immediately situating Renegade in her lap. Her fingers jumped to the fretboard almost instinctively. “In all honesty I thought I’d be the last one to show up,” she joked. “I’m Azure, by the way, Azure Blair.” She extended a gloved hand for the girl to shake.

She began mindlessly strumming palm-muted chords in a fast progression, her notes switching from quarter notes to eighth notes, then back again. Her fingerless, black leather gloves made muting the chords easier. She cast her gaze over the girl, biting her lip as she thought. She knew she shouldn’t judge based on appearance, but this girl, who had looked to be meditating when Azure walked in, seemed a lot more calm and collected than the chaos that was Azure Blair. That would either work out well in a team, perhaps they could balance each other out? Or it would work out terribly. Given her recent experiences with a certain uptight horse faunus, Azure assumed it would be the latter. She barely suppressed rolling her eyes, she didn’t want to be stuck with another Aurelia-type girl for the rest of her time at Beacon, that would result in nothing but chaos. The girl even had the same hair as Aurelia, Azure noted.

However, continuing to examine her more, Azure determined the girl looked less like the strict type, and more like the quiet type. The soft, quiet composure that came with being shy, as opposed to the sharp, forward formality that those like the Aurelia possessed.

Azure switched from playing random chords to playing the intro to Hotel California, not seeming to notice she was doing it. That was just how she rolled: if there was a guitar in front of her, she should pick it up and play it. She paused in her playing to pick a thread off the fraying end of one of the rips in her black jeans.

Coconut was upset.

Amane was cool - and really cute, too. He felt that without her, a part of CASA would be lost. The fact that they had gotten a new member so quickly was great, but even so he didn't know a thing about them. Sure, the information was sent to him on his scroll - but, well. Yeah, that was the problem.

To top it all off, it was time for another early training session. Well, sure, they'd get to meet their new teammate, but who's to say they wouldn't turn out to suck? Coco enjoyed his old team composition - being the team's only guy and its main frontliner was great. What if that were to change?

With these thoughts the swordsman sauntered into the arena, donning his full combat outfit - today he had opted for a pair of silver clips in his hair. He looked out towards the middle of the room and spotted Jocelyn along with...

Coconut looked up into the sky. He was certainly not the most religious or spiritual of people, but in that moment he spoke to whatever higher power there was and whispered: "Thank you."

He slowly approached the pair with a big, goofy smile on his face. Once he was close enough, he figured he should introduce himself. "Hi, hello. Coconut."

Jiminy Cricket, Coconut, you sure nailed it this time.

Prism looks in the mirror, straightens her cravate, and gives a quiet sight to herself as her shoulders droop.

Losing someone hurt. Prism knew that better than a lot of people. Amane had voluntarily dropped out of Beacon, going off to pursue whatever task that secret agent thing she belonged to told her too - and in the process, left the rest of Team Casanova reeling. The goodbye had been brief, abrupt, barely enough time to wish her well and find out of they’d ever see her again-

And it didn’t hurt that after two hours, they would forget the face of a close friend forever more, too.

Prism’s hand pushes past her cravate, reaching for the pocket on the inside of her vest. Carefully tugging out a folded piece of paper, she unfolds it and looks over the hurried drawing, commissioned by Prism seconds after Amane had left. She’d immediately gone to that one third year she’d seen sketching realistic Grimm, and after paying a hefty fee for her immediate attention, described every detail she remembered about Amane’s face before the two hours were up. She remembers thinking it was a fairly accurate match to her friend before forgetting what she looked like, so hopefully the picture was accurate. It was something to remember her by, at least.

Folding it up again, Prism tucks it back into her best and straightens her cravate again. The rest of Casanova still needed their fearless leader, no matter how much it hurt to lose a friend. Especially with the arrival of their new teammate, who was assigned to Casanova almost immediately after Amane’s absence. With only the name Azure Blair to go by, the future looked uncertain - so Prism pulled the familiar worn bomber jacket over her wings again, steeled herself, and moved to step out of the locker room and back into the training ring.

The first she sees (and thinks) was that she managed to miss their new arrival’s… arrival, apparently coming in while she was changing into her combat gear. A minor flush of shame rises at the fact she wasn’t there to greet her, but she pushes past it to focus on the new teammate. She was tall, dressed rather loosely, absent-mindedly strumming a guitar that Prism was willing to bet was her weapon - and had a wolf’s tail hanging from her waist. The slight grin that quirks onto Prism’s face with the addition of another faunus on the team is quickly wiped away as she catches Coconut looking up thankfully at the ceiling. Right, that’d be fun to explain to the new girl.

But regardless of that, Prism had a good first impression to make - and so did her teammates. A piercing whistle shatters the quiet solemnity of the arena, and cuts off Coconut’s initial greeting - interrupted by the familiar click of Prism’s heels carrying her across the arena to join the little group.  “Casanova, at attention please! We’re here to greet our new teammate, and saying hi from the ground is no way to introduce yourself, Josie!” The hummingbird faunus announces, her tone turning teasing towards the end of her sentence - there’s obviously no hostility in the leader’s tone towards her teammates.
Regardless of that, Prism pulls up short of Azure, giving a friendly grin up towards the taller faunus.  “You must be Azure Blair, right? Just assigned to Team Casanova? I’m Prism Skylark, the leader of our little group - it’s nice to finally meet you!” She chirps, folding one arm behind her back before holding out the other for Azure to take.

Jocelyn merely cocked one eyebrow at Prism’s entry, alongside opening one eye to peer at their team leader, full of energy. Seems like she was the only one actively holding on to her memories of their previous member, though even those were fast fading away. It was really sad to realise that in a day or so, they might once again meet but have no idea who she was.

With one hand, she reached to take Azure’s gloved hand, the other pocketing the Ice Dust crystal in her waist bag. First impressions were…honestly not great. Jocelyn found piercings that weren’t on the ear repulsive, and Azure had a navel one; at least it wasn’t on the nose or tongue. Tall, maybe even taller than Coco, but from her angle on the floor it was hard to tell. The guitar helped shift Jocelyn’s view toward the “could get along” side of things, but what finally caught her eye was the wolf tail dangling behind Azure’s back. Prism would finally have someone she could relate to in the group, but Coco would definitely be a problem.

In any case, their leader was right. With Azure now facing Prism and having turned her back on Jocelyn, she extended her mechanical wings from Steam Flower before launching herself into the air with ease, aided by a boost from her pack. She’d been training to improve her mobility from a immobile position ever since she’d been given a shocking wake-up call during their first mission, and basing her movements on Prism who had an actual pair of wings really helped. Now, she gracefully backflipped in mid-air, the sun catching the semi-transparent mesh that acted as the substitute and casting dazzling beams of light on the floor before gliding to the floor to the side Azure.

She waited for Prism to finish her introductions and Azure to take her hand before speaking. ”Good afternoon, Azure. It’s nice to meet you. I’m Jocelyn Antiqua.” she spoke softly, doing a small courtesy while her wings withdrew into their metallic casing. Now that she was standing instead of sitting, Azure would be able to see a distinctive rifle-shaped object on the back of her waist, as well as a clearly marked first-aid kit. Oh, and she finally saw Coconut. What could she say, he didn’t really make himself known like Prism did.

Azure halted her playing as she watched the small girl enter the arena. She winced slightly at the sudden sharp chirp of a whistle, her tail puffing up a little in surprise. “Damn, mate, a little warnin’ woulda been nice, yeah?” She said, trying to get her white fur to lie flat. She stared up at the blue haired girl from her position on the ground, having not bothered to get up yet. With a lazy smirk, she used Renegade to climb to her feet, before bowing in an exaggerated manner. “Yep, Azure Blair, the one and only.” She grinned as she bowed, before straightening to her full height. “Might’ve heard of me, might’ve not. Depends on your music taste.” She shrugged casually as she spoke. “And whether or not ya come from Atlas.” Another shrug. She gave off a rather informal overall appearance. Punk attire that in no way screamed professionalism, a supposedly laid back persona, the general casualness of her stance.

Standing up, she realized just how short the other girl, who was apparently her leader, was in comparison to her. She spun her axe once in her hand, before resting it on her shoulder, lumberjack style. Her stance was casual, far from Prism’s seemingly more formal one. She accepted Prism’s handshake, before glancing over at Jocelyn.

“Huh, never seen that before,” she mused. That was one thing she noticed about Beacon, all the unique weapon types. Coming from a small combat school, Azure hadn’t had the chance to see a wide range of stylized weapons. And seeing as most people forged some type of sword or gun, or a mix of the two, that limited the unique weapons category even further. Even in her second school, the most unique thing she’d come across was a pair of rings that folded out into a deadly set of brass knuckles. But this jetpack-type contraption was definitely unique, and rather interesting as well.

With the three other teammates around, Azure’s semblance danced out to feel the energy of the crew, a little disappointed at the energy of the group. Overall, she was getting a melancholy tone. She assumed it had probably had something to do with the loss of their old teammate. She shrugged the feeling off, however, assuming the solemn tone would eventually fade to a brighter energy. At least, that’s what she hoped. It would suck to be on a team of sad people, her semblance would not enjoy that one bit.

Azure’s navy gaze glanced around to asses her new teammates, her tail flicking excitedly, betraying the emotions her nonchalant expression hid. Her fingers drummed against her thigh, restless. She removed Renegade from her shoulder, playing palm muted chords as she recited the names of her teammates to make sure knew them, she had never been very good at remembering names. “Jocelyn, Prism, and... who are you?” She questioned Coconut, having not heard his previous introduction. She stopped playing chords when she asked the question, placing a hand over the strings to mute them. Holding her guitar, her teammates would be able to see that it didn’t look quite like an ordinary guitar. It seemed... slightly off, as though it wasn’t proportioned quite correctly. This was due to the elongated guitar neck and slightly narrower body, which made its axe function easier. The body itself was covered in a myriad of dials and switches and buttons, many more so that what came on a normal electric guitar.

“So I’m assuming we came here to spar, but then question is, is it me against all of you? I’ll take it if it is, that could be interesting.” A smirk followed her words. Azure, reckless, overly confident, impulsive, didn’t see any issue with taking on three people at once. To her, it seemed only like an exciting adventure, rather than a poor decision. She twirled her guitar in her hand again, resting it against the ground to lean on it. She thought of what Aurelia had said about Renegade, about her core failing her. She had to refrain from scoffing at the memory. Renegade wouldn’t die on her, she knew it to be impossible; she’d crafted the weapon, after all, and she made it to last a long, long time.

Coconut actually jumped a bit at Prism's voice. He hadn't heard her this commanding in some time now... A massive, lascivious smile crept up on his face as he saluted back and straightened himself out, unsure what else he should do. "Y-yes, ma'am!"

A part of his mind was glad that the new girl and Prism's bossiness was able to take his mind off Amane so quickly. Another was almost upset how that was the case - in just a little while he would forget what she even looked like. Forgetting a girl like that didn't sit right with Coco, not in the slightest. But that was the way things were - he could only accept it and move on.

It was now time to focus on the new girl.

Azure Blair. Tall - about as tall as he was, even! Great hips, sizeable chest - nice. The blue tint in her hair was definitely a good look in Coco's books, as were the piercings - he wouldn't get one himself but he found them appealing, unlike some people. And finally... The tail. The t a i l. Blessed be whichever gods had granted Coconut another faunus teammate.

The poor guy was sweating like a pig when Azure asked him to reintroduce himself, though luckily his coat hid most of it - his face was glistening, though. "C-coconut! Coconut Cream!"

"Y-you think you can take three people at once?" Coconut asked, that dumb smile still on his face. Was this girl really that good? Was she just cocky? Was he okay with it either way?

Probably not, possibly and yes.

“Just me right off the bat, I’m afraid.” Prism interjects, trying to cut off Coconut’s rather… lascivious comment. She gives Azure’s hand a surprisingly firm shake, before shooting the only male member of Casanova a glare. Behave, or else - it seems like the leader of the team runs a fairly tight ship.  “And sorry about the surprise - I think I might’ve heard you once or twice in passing, and at least occasionally on the radio? Never really spent much time listening to music.” She answers faintly. She waves her hand in the air, moving the point on - there’s a lot more to do, and it’d do good to get the rest of the team’s mind off of Amane.

“Regardless, three on one seems a bit harsh to start off, so I’m going to give you a bit of a different challenge.” She answers, taking a step away from the group and unhooking the thin metallic box from her back in one smooth motion. Shifting off the safety and flicking a lever along the outside of the weapon, a long shaft extends from one end, while the main body of the weapons delicately folds outward to form a razor-sharp blade - only taking seconds to form Prism’s characteristic glaive.  “I want you to try to land a hit on me. Not trying to take me down necessarily, but just land a single, solid hit. This’ll give me a good feel of your combat skills, and give Josie and Coco hear a chance to see you in action. Sound alright to everyone?” She asks, glancing around the room and looking for approval.

Regardless, another couple steps back - and slides her stance out, gripping the staff of her weapon with both hands.

"Aye, ma'am!" Jocelyn salutes semi-mockingly, before another trigger on her jumppack sends her soaring through the air in a backflip to land a good distance away from where the fight would take place. She couldn't help but think to herself that the new teammate was somewhat arrogant and reckless, but first impressions didn't always define the person underneath. "Come on, Coco. Give the two some space, you heard Prism." That was in case Coco was still busy staring at Azure - the stare didn't go unnoticed.

As Steam Flower's wings folded into their compact position, Jocelyn took a seat on the hard floor, sitting cross-legged and placing her rifle to her right in case of an emergency application of her Semblance. From what she could see initially, Azure came with nothing but her guitar, so either she was a brawler or that guitar transformed in some way. Dustthrower perhaps? Jocelyn had seen some heavy metal shows being broadcasted on scroll before - reruns, she wasn't particularly interested in that genre and wouldn't go out of her way to watch one - and there had been a flamethrower mounted on the lead guitarist's electric guitar. Spewed flame whenever they strummed chords repeatedly. Most importantly, she was interested to see how Azure would handle Prism's whole flying battle style. "Standing by for medical assistance. Ready when you are."

Azure laughed sharply. “Oh hon, I know I can take three people at once.” With her semblance being what it was, the more people Azure was fighting the easier it would be for her to use it. Three was a... painfully small amount, the smallest number she could even work with, but it would have to do. She dropped Prism’s hand, after noting the strength of the girl’s handshake, her face falling into a frown with it. She was only fighting one of them? Well, that wasn’t that exciting, where was the fun in that? Where was the fun in fighting just a single person? No, scratch that--half a person. This Prism girl was short enough that Azure was pretty sure she could just boot her like a football if she felt like it.

“Oh?” She arched an eyebrow. Did this girl really not listen to music that often? How could anyone live like that? ‘Well, that will have to change, won’t it?” She laughed as she spoke, as though speaking in a joking manner. However, she couldn’t be more serious. If this girl didn’t like music, Azure would make it her mission to change that. Even if it didn’t work, Prism should get used to hearing music daily anyways; that was what came with rooming with a musician, after all.

Azure watched the small box fold out into a weapon. She had to admit, it was much more portable than Renegade. But far less cool, she thought. What was the point of a weapon that could only be used in combat situations? Why not make it multipurpose like she had? She watched Prism get into a fighting stance with a cocky smirk across her lips. This girl was tiny! She probably wouldn’t even need to activate Renegade! She could just smack her with the flat side of the guitar’s body and send her flying!

After waiting a moment for Prism to finish situating herself, Azure twirled her guitar in one hand, activating it. The first thing to happen was the blades popped out with a click, extending about ten inches wide, running the length of the guitar body. Blue lights lit up around various areas on the guitar’s body: lining the pick guard, circling around the pickups and the various dials. A quiet humming sound, like that of a generator, could be heard coming from the guitar. Dark, midnight blue energy crackled up and down the strings of the guitar. She knocked her fists together, twice, in quick succession. The thick metal bracelets that lines her wrists began to glow with a white light, emitting a small beep sound, signalling they had paired with the guitar. Following the sound, the wide, white strips on the bracelets began pulsing with a black light. The result of this action? Renegade, now in axe form and sparking with dark blue aura up and down the strings, floated in the air in front of the wolf faunus. The faint black glow of gravity dust could be seen around the edges of the guitar, less so against the already black body of it.

Prism’s “challenge” worried Azure, however. If the goal was to just land a single hit, then that made it sound like that would be hard. How hard could it be to hit the girl? She didn’t let her concern show, instead keeping her cocky, arrogant grin and playing a brief flurry of notes.

“Alright then,” she called, “let’s see how this goes.” She loaded a crystal of fire Dust into Renegade, the bright orange glow filling up the strings like liquid being sucked up through a straw. Small embers began drifting off the strings; Azure played another set of notes, running up and down an F major scale in a four note pattern (playing notes 1-4, then 2-5, then 3-6, etc all the way up, then back down again) to set up her guitar, her fingers flying rapidly across the fretboard. She was tempted to play Eruption, by Van Halen, just to show off. But she didn’t think she was quite good enough at it yet to use it in combat. Running through the who scale, up and back down, took only a matter of seconds, and as soon as she was done she lifted her hand off the fretboard to strum an open chord, releasing a semicircle wave of fire at Prism.

Azure brings her attack to life in a literal lightshow. The guitar's startup is beyond flashy, with the blades of the apparent guitaraxe sliding into place with a quiet schlick. The wolf faunus' bond with her weapon is obvious as her aura begins to crackle to life around the weapon, stained with faint dark particles that the sniper's sharp eyes catch and recognize with...gravity, dust, probably. Prism will give her credit in the fact that she's quick - the loading of the dust crystal and the riff she plays through before her attack takes mere seconds - but as her guitar lights up, there's just one fault to her attack-

What's coming couldn't be more obvious.

Prism springs into action as the wave of fire comes her way. It takes three quick steps and a powerful leap as the blunt end of her glaive digs into the ground with a strong push, vaulting over the wave of fire with a neat frontflip as her glaive wips up to follow her. She lands with a quick clack, the two-time sound of her heels coming down as she bends her knees to absorb the shock, before standing upright as if nothing ever happened. "Not bad. Powerful, but I can see that coming from a mile away. Next, please." She chirps, smiling patiently at her new teammate.

She hasn't even taken off her jacket yet, either.

Azure watched the girl flip over her wave of fire, her expression neutral. Given the nature of the challenge, she hadn’t really been expecting to land a hit right away. What type of a challenge would that be if it was accomplished in the first thirty seconds? She had to admit, though, this Prism girl sure had some fine pole vaulting skills; Azure figured the girl’s short stature helped in that. She knew she could probably swat the small girl out of the air right then and there, but didn’t make a move to intercept her landing; she didn’t want this to be over too fast, after all. That would just be boring.

Azure laughed at the girl’s words, a smirk growing across her face. So she thought she was predictable? Well, that was quite convenient wasn’t it? Seeing as Azure’s fighting style, and her actions in general, revolved around doing things spontaneously, she figured it would be hard to predict the actions of someone who had no plan.
“I’m pretty sure that’s the first time anyone has ever said that to me,” she commented with a laugh as her guitar left her hand--she had deactivated her bracelets right before doing so. Her fingers grazed against the strings as she threw it so it would go flying towards Prism like a frisbee, a wave of fire blasting up from it. Her aim had been the smaller girl’s face; she didn’t personally care if she hit her with the blade of the headstock-- the headstock was sharp enough anyways.

Regardless of whether or not it hit, Azure would reactivate Rock and Roll, causing her axe to fly back to her hand. She caught it with a smirk, not pausing as she inserted a crystal of wind Dust and played an open chord as she leapt up, letting the blast carry her through the air to land behind Prism, where she could quickly drop down to swipe Renegade at Prim’s ankles.

Aura: 100%
Fire Dust: 5% burn dmg
Axe 1 (thrown): 4% blunt or slashing dmg (depending on what side of the guitar hits)
Axe 2 (slash): 3% slashing dmg

Well, Prism would at least be able to give Azure credit for the originality of her tactics - throwing her antire guitaraxe isn't something that's easily anticipated.

The woman's eyes widen imperceptibly behind her goggles, backstepping as a sharp breeze flows right around her, parting the wave of fire down the middle as she ducks underneath the axe's overhead throw. Azure's callback of her weapon is a bit harder to deal with; making her block the blade of the axe with the staff of her glaive and rotate around it rapidly as it's magnetically drawn to it's owner.

Azure earns an approving nod from the team leader.

Prism's stance shifts slightly, holding Hawk's Eye in one arm as her stance slides back as she visibly preps  for Azure's next attack a bit more blatantly. Her eyes dart to Azure's hand as a familiar green glint catches her eye as she loads her guitar, noting the hand raising to play her guitar again and the shift in her body as she prepares to step forwards, and-

The oversized pilot's jack on Prism's shoulders slides off easily, tossed to the side at the same moment Azure propels herself into the air. There's a quick snap as a massive pair of blue-green wings flair outwards, catching the massive gust of wind and carrying quickly out of reach of the strike to her feet as the axe lands with a loud clang.

Prism's gaze has focused entirely on Azure, her gaze intense. The hummingbird faunus' gaze is intense as her stance shifts, her back getting a bit straighter and her movements more exact - beyond the slight rustling of feathers on her back. She's taking this seriously now.

"Coco, draw and move in. Jocelyn, prep. We're upping the stakes. Azure, I want you to try to break someone's aura between Coco and I, undestand?"

During the two girls' fight, Nut has been off on the side next to Jocie, grinning and hopping on his feet. This girl was feisty, and knew her way around a weapon - well, duh, she's aiming to be a huntress - which made him all the more excited. She was holding her own against Prism and even landed that hit - hell, even he's had trouble doing that much.

As he was ordered to take position, he saluted and stepped up, taking O.T.N. off of his back, the weapon already in its long sword form. "Gotcha, m'am!" he responded all giddy-like.

Break his aura? Not a chance! As good as she was, it would take a whole lot to do that. Granted, he was more used to playing it offensively, but even so he had utmost confidence in his abilities.

The boy swung his blade forward and turned it, so that the blade would be facing down before him. He'd need to test the girl in combat for a bit before deciding if he'd be better off with O.T.N. in its short sword form. Her fingers were quick, but he had no way of knowing just yet whether the girl was more about quick attacks or hard hits.

"C-come at me, then. I'm ready for you."

At Prism's order, Jocelyn's sniper rifle extends into its active form at the same time that Steam Flower's mechanical wings snap into place and Hyacinth's safety trigger is turned to 'Open'. The remaining winds created by Prism's Semblance tugs impatiently at her own wings, as if urging her to take to the skies, but Jocelyn remains grounded for the time being by kneeling on the floor and resting Hyacinth on her other knee.

Seeing her leader's absolute concentration, she ups her focus as well, eyes trained on the scope in front of her, aiming directly at Azure's head. Without Azure knowing her Semblance's capabilities, there wasn't much risk of being immediately targeted as the medic, so she was free to execute cover fire. "In position." Jocelyn says curtly, without taking her eye off Azure - the other is closed in preparation.

At the slightest movement, she'll fire.

Azure straightened up from where she had landed during her attack on Prism’s feet, spinning her guitar in one hand like it was nothing. The only reaction her otherwise indifferent expression showed to Prism’s reveal of her wings was a slight quirk in on eyebrow.

“Well that’s a new development,” she noted, as though vaguely amused.

Azure watched the other two teammates join in, a cocky smirk dancing across her lips. So Prism was wanting to add an extra challenge? Well, it appears her plan had backfired. With her semblance being what it was, the odds were just perfectly in her favor. Multiple opponents--albeit a small number, that might make things a bit more difficult than had she been fighting five or ten others--and no allies who could fall casualty to her antics. Honestly, she couldn’t ask for a better set up.
Well, that was a lie. She would have preferred facing at least two more people-- three was pushing the minimum for what she could do.

“Well,” she mused, “two is a couple, three is a crowd.” She was somewhat cryptic in her statement--she couldn’t help it, she was a drama queen at heart--not further explaining her words as she strummed Renegade, launching herself up into the air once more. This time, she perches herself on one of the rafters in the ceiling, sitting down and crossing her legs; a casual position, she knew she had nothing to worry about.

She settled her fingers on the fret board once more, this time not to charge up a strike, but to play. She began strumming, using her thumbnail as she didn’t have a pick on her, recording the chord progression. After running through the short progression once, she would flick a switch on her guitar, Renegade playing back the recording like a loop box so she could switch to the melody, giving more emotion to the song. Said emotion was... not quite despair, but something akin to it. She spread it out throughout her teammates with the intention of disheartening them, wrapping the three of them in her semblance as the notes rang out. She wasn’t sure if it would work, three was such a small number, after all. It barely counted as a crowd, and there wasn’t much atmosphere to work with, not much she could manipulate. It was harder to provoke an atmosphere when there was none to start with.

Her goal was simple: get her teammates to freeze, to give up; that would make it much easier to attack them, if they were too disheartened to attack back

Prism blinks as Azure launches herself up into the rafters of the gymnasium, raising one eyebrow - there is... very little she'd be able to do from there. The first couple notes she plucks on her guitar have an odd ring to them, before a chill runs up her spine, and a familiar low despair begins to manifest itself in her mind. High, odd, and lonely, it reminds her of high places and rooftop edges and a baby bird who couldn't fly yet so it wouldn't be- wouldn't be-

It has to be her semblance

Prism lets a oddly blank expression settle over her face. The only warning Azure would get would be the brief straightening of her posture as her wings flare wide as massive updraft propels her into the air and her wings become a blue-green blur. She reverses the position of her glaive as she rises, pointing the butt of her glaive at Azure - and promptly buries her new teammate in a rain of sniper amunition.

She's fucking sitting in the rafters, she's not gonna be able to dodge that easily.

As Azure's music spreads across the arena, Jocelyn finds herself not concentrating on the fight in front of her - if one can call this a fight; Azure's perched on the rafters like a songbird performing for an audience - and instead casting her mind back to her childhood, back in their home of Patch where her old friends used to play. A flash of pain, a scuffle, a horrendous howl, her brother, blood, blood blood everywhere - Make it stop, her mind whispered, I don't want... She squeezed her eyes shut to block out the mental imagery, shaking her head as she loses her posture and a small trickle of tears begin to drip down her cheek.

Just as quickly as the images come on, they fade equally as fast as Prism takes the first move, taking flight and raining bullets on Azure's position with a gust of wind so strong it blows Jocelyn's tears off her cheek. From the look on her face, it didn't look like anything had happened to Prism, which left Jocelyn in a state of slightly distraught confusion as she tries to comprehend what exactly happened just now. Just to make sure, she manually chambers a Ice Dust round and, channeling her Semblance, sends the bullet at Coco with the intent of dispelling any similar effect on him.

To Coconut's surprise, rather than launching an attack, Azure flies up to the rafters and takes a seat upon them. Moments later, a tune begins to play - one which has him feeling... a bit melancholic. He's still a bit bummed about Amane leaving, after all. Azure seemed cool, and she was a faunus, but... Hm.

What has him snap out of a slightly off mood is the gust of wind in his face, the sound of gunshots above and a reassuring smack of cold aura upon his back. He shakes his head, raises O.T.N. up with a grin upon his face, and goes for a swing, channeling his aura into the blow for a beam of it to be launched right at Azure's position!

...Sadly, the aura mostly dies off along the way, being uneven and jagged, and barely scratches the beam upon which Azure had taken position. At that distance, it's unlikely she'd be hurt even if she had been hit. Yeesh, Nut really needs to practice his aura beams.

Well, at least it had worked a little bit. That was better than none, right? Azure’s music cut off with a sharp twang as Prism flew up to meet her. Unfortunately, it seemed the effects hadn’t held for as long as she would have liked. If only she had an actual atmosphere to work with!

“Alright fine, cheater,” she said, her voice teasing, regarding the fact that Prism hadn’t needed to waste Dust to get up to where she was sitting. The wolf faunus stuck her tongue out playfully as let herself slide off the rafter. She dropped to the ground as she spun Renegade around, using the smooth back of the guitar body to shield herself. However, one of the three bullets collided with her shoulder as she dropped to the ground. She landed somewhat ungracefully, given her hurried descent and the impact of the bullet. She reacted quickly, though, as she launched a blast of fire up towards Prism.

Picking who to attack next, Azure set her sights on Coco. Using a blast of wind Dust, she launched herself across the arena towards him, swinging practically before she landed. It was a double attack: slashing first with the blades of her axe, then doubling back with an attack with the sharpened headstock of the guitar. She had chosen him over Jocelyn as Jocelyn, she though, had yet to contribute much to fight. As well, the blonde girl seemed to have been affected the most by her semblance, so Azure figured she could just use it against if Jocelyn tried anything.

“So you wanted me to come at ya, yeah?” She said with smirk as she had made her two attacks. Being rather tall for a girl, she would have been even in height with the male barefoot. However the thick soles of her boots added an extra inch, give or take a bit. While it wasn’t much to make for a height advantage combat wise, it did serve as an ego boost. She liked fighting guys for this specific reason; it made her feel tall, and Azure, unlike some girls she knew with a tall stature, enjoyed being tall. Mainly, she was a fan of the reactions some men had had to her height over the years, especially when she was in heels.

Prism follows Azure up and over the rafter in the ceiling, front-flipping as her wings spread out to a still. She hits the ground a ways behind Azure with a small thud, and releases a sharp whistle; attempting to draw her attention and give Coconut a chance to land a hit. The bright-white cresecent that goes flying out of her blade with a quick downswing will probably help; aimed at just enough of an angle that it can't hit Coconut unless he does something stupid. There's still a chance Azure could catch it out of her peripheral vision though.

"So is that your semblance? Channeling mood manipulation through your guitar?" She questions. That's potentially very powerful - especially when evacuating a town to keep it's inhabitants calm, but maybe not so much against Grimm. Is it soul-based, or what? Note to self, ask Azure later.

Still in shock and confusion over what she just saw, Jocelyn reached one slightly shaking hand into her first aid pack, the other hand tightly grasping the body of Hyacinth, eventually withdrawing a Electric Dust crystal used to power the mini-defibrillator she had stored in the same pack. Rather than throw it at Azure or use it as a weapon, Jocelyn instead channeled her Aura through the Dust crystal - which with no outlet for the current to go through, just discharged the shock through herself for a few seconds. If her teammates weren't occupied, maybe they could see her body crackle and convulse from the voltage.

Whimpering from the pain, Jocelyn staggered backwards and just barely caught herself by using Hyacinth as a pole for support, but the shock had its intended effect - the images in her mind had cleared away, only leaving her slightly numb. Now free to snipe away since Azure had kindly decided to leave the healer alone, she unloaded her entire magazine on Azure as more of cover fire rather than precision sniping.

  ● Aura: [████████--] 91% (6% from electric shock)
  ● 0/7 bullets in mag (6 shots of 4% each at Azure, poorly aimed)

Nut's main concern would be the big ole ax and tall ole girl flying towards him. He brings up O.T.N. and parries her initial strike without breaking a sweat. Sure, there's solid force behind the swing, but in its long sword form he can keep his sword up against worse. Nothing a great fighter like Coconut can't handle -

He then takes the head stock to the bottom of his jaw and stumbles back. Alright, yea, he wasn't expecting that. Nut rubs his chin, grinning,

"Y-you're pretty good," he says. She is quick, so switching to sword sword form would help him keep up, and yet he couldn't afford to give up any leverage against an ax like that. His thought process is further disrupted as he hears a sharp whistle, followed by a slash of aura whizzing by him. He blinks and looks towards Prism.

She was clearly trying to distract the girl. Get him to strike at her while she wasn't paying attention... But that didn't feel right. Coconut wasn't one for underhanded tricks, and certainly not against his own teammates. He was about force, and if Azure could take that force and dish out her own, so be it. Instead, he readied his blade again.

"That alone won't be enough to break my aura, though. Or Prism's!" he shouted out. He was hoping she'd target him again. He had a 'plan' - as much planning he could do, at least.

“Yeah, something like that,” Azure replied to Prism, her tone playful as she stepped out of the way of the crescent attack. Having glanced over at Prism to answer her question, Azure had been able to catch sight of the white crescent in time to dodge. This could potentially leave her open to attack from Coconut, however she soon focused her attention back on him, as he was closest to her.

She smirked as the headstock of her guitar came in contact with his skull.
“Oh I’m more than just pretty good,” she scoffed, aiming another strike with her axe at his head. "I'm amazing." Hearing the crackle of electricity, she glanced over towards its source. Her eyes landed on Jocelyn just in to see her bringing up her rifle.

“Yeah maybe, but this might help.” She side stepped around Coconut, her hand reaching out to grab the back of his coat, pulling him in front of her to essentially use him as a human shield against the spray of bullets from Jocelyn.

“You know!” She called to the group as a whole, using wind to launch herself across the ring to Jocelyn. “I honestly might fare better if there were twice as many of you! Threes and fours are kinda my weak spot.” Her voice was filled with laughter, contradicting her action of swinging her axe at Jocelyn’s torso. It was true, once she got to five or six people her semblance had a stronger effect. With groups of three and four, she was uncomfortably outnumbered without the benefit of crowd control. At least with larger groups she would have been able to calm them all down enough for her to gain a more equal standing.
