Gray was simply scowling as Jack spoke to him but had to admit he was surprised when the boy grabbed him and lifted him off the ground. "I WAS REJECTING HER YOU BLOODY-" Gray cut himself off as he realised exactly what Jack was doing. He was then dropped by the boy and fell to his knees.
"all his fault. He's manipulating everyone and painting me as the monster for the shit he pulled." Gray muttered to himself as his anger swelled. He then got to his feet with a look of utter hatred directed at Jack. "YOU MOTHER FUCKER!" As he yelled Gray's aura began glowing around him before it appeared to shatter like glass. With incredible speed he dashed at Jack sending a punch straight at his face. If the blow connected it would likely send the boy careening backwards into the ballroom doors.

Ismael heard yelling as the doors were about to shut. He looked through to see Gray kneeling on the ground. Ismael's aura bursted and infused with a red aura which filled in where the white was. Ismael almost blurs as he sprints to the group then appears in between Gray and Jack. Ismael then realized Gray was going to punch Jack when he felt a fist slam into his face. Ismael's head tilted with the hit, but other than that he didn't move all too much. Ismael stood there and said in a low and angered tone, "Stop, or this'll make it's way to the staff". Ismael then goes to take Gray by the collar and pulls him off to the side to say, "What's up? This isn't like you". Ismael stands there and waits for an answer.

"Haha, wel-" As Marigold too heard yelling at the front, she also saw that Ismael had already gotten there and was sorting out the situation before she had even finished considering whether they should butt in or not. She saw a lot of angry people, Cheri and Red included, and Jack was there too. And so was Gray. And Orabel Arachne, the CEO of Arachne Industries and Strelka's teammate. And one of the girls that Jack had brought in. And another girl she recognized as Stella and Jack's teammate. Oh boy, what a situation. Walking up to them, she said, "He's right. I know it isn't in my place to interject, but everyone's trying to enjoy tonight and this fight isn't going to make that happen. It will only escalate and attract more attention, as it did with Ismael and I, and there will only be more and more people gathering around until eventually a member of the staff finds their way here."

As she was totally not hiding behind Red and listening to him, Prim could see Cheri entering the immediate area. Saying that she looked surprised would be a major understatement. Red then beckoned her over, which Cheri complied to. After fixing her makeup of course. Oh and Noir did not look happy. And Noir was not looking happy at her. Prim really didn't get why Noir was glaring at her and not Red, he was the one who turned her down. Why her? She knew that it wouldn't do her any good to think about it any further though, so Prim looked away from the supermodel, flashing a weak smile at Cheri in return for the star's reassuring one sent her way.
Then Orabel started to react to everything, saying some very sarcastic things at Prim and saying something to Gray about old acquaintances that she'd kept off of the wolf Faunus. Honestly, Prim didn't really follow that sentence, but she understood enough. Gray's response helped a bit too, the student looked absolutely terrified before he calmed down, playing confident. Or maybe he was actually confident. Yeah, that could've been it. Prim wouldn't know.
The situation just got worse from there though. Why? Because Jack decided to open his mouth, and even with how nice and trusting Prim was, she knew that when he decided to speak, it rarely turned out well. He apparently did not want to prove her wrong, siding with Orabel of all people. Again, she liked to be nice and all, but Orabel wasn't doing herself any favors. At all. Really, she was not doing herself any favors. Though she supposed that some of it probably came from Jack. Who was actually the one who told Ki to make a move on Gray. He responded to Red and Ki with a show of regret, which was so convincing, Prim almost believed him. Almost. But not quite. She was a little ditzy at times, but she wasn't stupid, she was actually fairly good at discerning these types of things. Now he'd seemed to be doing a complete 180, quickly turning angry, which Red took care of. At least until Jack said something that she could also not follow very well. There were too many inside secrets here. But this... Felicity had apparently 'danced' for Jack's father. And she'd stopped. Primrose assumed that Felicity had something to do with Red, but she really wasn't sure. Red didn't do anything to him though, surprisingly, but just backed down, pale and shaken. Prim reacted to this immediately, stepping up and dragging Red backwards a little yet again, regaining her shield and providing a little space between the alpha males. Oh look, the alpha female just clawed the other male in the face. That couldn't have felt nice. And now two others had interjected themselves into the situation. Great. That eccentric guy and that rich girl.
"I-I think they're right," said Prim, still clinging onto Red's sleeve. "Just stop fighting. Please? Gray was rejecting her, isn't that right Ki? She'll tell you the truth, right? Since you trust her so much, Jack." Oh, she knew that this couldn't mean anything good for her after the dance, but she'd rather face her teammates' wrath than the staff. Plus, she didn't like just leaving all of it here. "Jack, please don't-" A moment of hesitation. "Please don't make it worse. Uh, you two... sorry for interrupting whatever you were probably in the middle of." The sweetheart's face turned downcast. This dance was not going very well, not at all. "Come on... This was supposed to be a nice occasion."
As the cinnamon roll waited for the others to react, she focused her attention on the shaken Red. "Are you okay?" she asked quietly, trying not to draw too much attention to it. He didn't seem like the type to want people to notice when he was anything less than totally confidant. "I'm sorry for what Jack said, he... he isn't... he doesn't... he likes to stir up trouble. I don't know what he really meant, but it obviously bothered you. So I'm just going to apologize. He's not going to."
Meanwhile, Mauve was completely oblivious to all of the other happenings, simply too wrapped up in Nathan and the kiss they'd just shared. Though she could still register everything perfectly, it was like her mind was tuning out everything else except for her date. Giving her teammate a smile, she said, "I really have no idea what to say. Shocker, isn't it?" Her smile turned a little wry, letting out a small sound of amusement.

Nathan's smile grew slightly larger at Mauve's comment. He gently tightened their embrace and said "Not really, when words are unnecessary." Plus, why would they be? He was almost overwhelmed with joy by merely hugging her. Yes, her voice was extremely pleasant to hear, but... the situation was just too pleasant for awkwardness to arise.
This day was just the best day, ever.

Well fuck, this had quickly spiraled into something far beyond Cael's control, if it were ever at that point. Jack was being a douche, Gray was being a douche, even Red was sort of being a douche, and in contrast to his regular nature, Cael wasn't having any of it, he certainly wasn't getting involved. If these assholes wanted to fight at a public party, that was their business, but he wasn't getting involved. He wasn't in danger, his team wasn't in danger, nobody who mattered was in danger, he was getting the hell out of there. He stepped back to mutter into the ear of the girl next to him. "Marianne I'm sorry for dragging you out here into this. You can come with me if you want, but I'm leaving this party, nothing good will come of this." With that, he turned and strode away, his long strides carrying him quickly away from the madness behind him.

‘This is a clusterfuck’ Orabel thought as suddenly as she watched Jack and one of Cheri’s guards get into an altercation. It had started out great enough , with Jack taking her side to confront Grey, as Jack told his version of the events that unfolded Orabel become infuriated towards Gray. ‘What a fuckign lowlife’ She thought. Though as Jack explained what Ki’s intentions were, Orabel suddenly felt a pit in her gut, how much was she going to have to cough up for . “I made a mistake… for Grimm's sake.” but suddenly the conversation shifted away from Gray and to something … personal between Jack and one of Cheri’s bodyguards.
Suddenly shit decided to hit the fan, as Cheri Chanson, the sweetheart of the pop and Faunus rights movement Raked her claws across Jack's face. “Holy Hell.” She muttered and quickly ran up to Jack. ‘that literally just came out of nowhere. ‘ She thought as she looked at the scratches start to patch up. Cheri’s bodyguard looked like she was going to destroy something and Cheri looked venomous . Whatever Jack had said had struck a nerve with Cheri and her bodyguard. A small scrap she could deal with, but the way this ordeal was going it would turn into a brawl and that definitely was not going to work out for anyone. Responding to Prim Orabel says “Maybe you have a a point, this is getting a bit out-.” Orabels voice was cut off as she watched Gray scream and attempt to sucker-punch Jack before being stopped by Ish. After everything had started to diffuse Orabel tuned to Jack. “Well… maybe we should move somewhere else while you deal with… that.” She says gesturing to the gouges in his face. It would be insulting to offer help she could tell, he was the independent type and she wanted to be on his good side. “ Somewhere away from the Celebrity, bodyguard and the shitstain that want to kill you.” She whispers jokingly in his ear quit enough that the faunas idol couldn't hear her.

Cheri shook with a rage so absolute that she didn't register what she'd done until she felt the blood on her claws. At that, she went white, and somehow managed to spit out "You...you don't...how dare..." So much for poise in dealing with Orabel...that was as out the window as...Cael was leaving, and the girl he was apparently with was following all too eagerly. She was caught off guard by how deeply that bit, even in the middle of her wrath and horror. Who was she? The suddenness of it gave her just enough of a distraction to be angry at Jack all over again, even though she winced when she saw the damage she'd done to his face.
"Don't ever talk about Felicity like that again. How dare you sink so low..." she growled, the sound almost turning into a sob. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Noir moving to wrap her arms around Red, and caught her in a glare so harsh the other girl froze and then ran off. Good, sweet Prim...you take care of him, you little darling. Cheri herself had to do something quick before she retched from all the stress. Gray, Mari and Izzy came to her rescue then, albeit totally by accident. She just stood there, numb, already overtaxed from earlier, and tried to get her bearings. The whispered insult from Orabel didn't even faze her at this point, and normally she would have fired right back...
Red was just so done. Done with Jack, Arachne, Saggio, Noir, fuck 'em all. He'd just wanted a little time with a friend. Was that too much to ask? Instead he got some wonderful, hellish walks down memory lane, which the entire night seemed designed to bring up, and to watch as the boat to Becketville and Snowflowerland sailed majestically into the swamp of shitfuckery. He wasn't even really hearing what was going on around him, and longed for some whiskey he could just chug straight from the bottle like a man dying from thirst. But no. He was babysitting some damn kids. SHIT. And right now his only lifeline to sanity was...Primrose fucking Aster. Awesome. Part of him just wanted to shove her aside and leave. A huge part of him. But he didn't, because the other part saw just enough of his sister in the way she was pleading with him now to turn, gather her up in a hug, and pat her head. "I'm fine. Thanks, kiddo." he mumbled, giving her a weak, half-assed grin. There, now she wouldn't blubber all over him. Man was he a shitty liar.
Ki watched in near disbelief as Gray lunged for Jack, and was stopped by some guy she'd never met before and his...date? Maybe, who knew anymore. As if Cheri going totally feral on him wasn't crazy enough. Shit, Jack looked smug about it, too. That couldn't be good. Sure, he might be cool and collected on the outside, but he had to be damn mad right about now, and that look could only mean one thing. Gray was about to get his ass handed to him in front of everyone. Time to put on the big girl pants, this had to stop.
"Alright, you know what, everyone shut the hell up! I think we're all messed up right now, and this is just one freaking huge misunderstanding!" she shouted, striding forward and wrapping herself around the wolf faunus so that he'd have to throw her down to keep going. "Jack, I love that you're watching out for me, and I know you think I can't take care of myself, but just stop! You're being an ass, Gray's done nothing wrong, and we all fucked up big time! Miss Arachne, I'm sorry I ruined your night, and I hope when you cool off, you can talk to Gray again. And now we're both leaving before shits gets any worse!" She began moving off away from the party, dragging Gray by an arm. "Come on, let's go. You are not getting your ass kicked for me!"
Marianne nodded and took Cael's arm again. The past few moments had solidified one thing in her mind: she wanted nothing to do with these people, in any way. Even Miss Chanson was being beastly. "A walk would be lovely. Perhaps later we can find Miss Roux and her gentleman friend, they seemed...reasonable people." A heavy scowl darkened her gentle features, and she wished to be as quickly away from all this madness as soon as possible. Thankfully, her escort's pace fit the urgency of the situation. The dark girl who had accompanied Jack running along crying a moment later only seemed to bring home the ugliness of it all. How did Marlon stand it here?
Contrary to popular belief, Jack was having the time of his life. He'd put Red in his place, gotten Cheri to freak out in public, and now Arachne was whispering in his ear. He'd even managed to pull Ki out of danger. Sure, Cael, some other chick, and Noir had left in a tizzy, and he would have to give Prim a talking to later, but still... It was awful hard not to crack the biggest grin right now...Seeing that the mood had swiftly changed, he played right along with it. "You know what, Ki's right. You too, Miss Beckett, and thanks for the save, Skaos." he said, giving that total freakjob loser a smile and a thumbs up. "I'm probably taking things too far. Red, Cheri, sorry, I got a little heated. I just can't stand to see such wonderful girls treated like dime-a-dozen toys. Really gets under my skin, you know?" he explained, his face completely serious. "Which is why I'll deal with that shithole Gray later.." Leaving everyone else, including a very confused and concerned Blanca, to their hurt feelings, he turned and put his arms around Orabel again, just as the last slice on his face healed over. He would have liked to stay and savor the moment, but he had work to do.
"I like the way you think, Miss Arachne. I was wondering...you did put yourself together so magnificently for a night out..." His face took on an almost shy expression, allowing him to look suddenly vulnerable as he moved a hand up her shoulder, across her cheek, through her hair, and brought his fingertips brushing gently all the way around one of her horns, right to the tip. "I was wondering if I might show you off to everyone tonight. The friends I brought weren't my dates per say...and..." His wandering hand came back down underneath her chin..."After all, you deserve to be treated well above all else, especially after this. Call me arrogant, especially looking at you right now, in that dress, but...I think I might be able to pull it off." His voice had gotten lower and softer as he spoke, and he'd brought himself in closer to her with every word, so that now they could easily feel one another's breath. His eyes had never once left hers, barring a few coy downward glances. "And to think, what a perfect revenge it would be..." he added, his smile turning impish.
Inside, the revelers continued, blissfully unaware of the unnecessary and convoluted drama playing out just beyond the doors.
Verdant forgot herself and hugged the silver-haired woman, overwhelmed with joy. "Oh, I don't know who the hell you are, but..." she paused when she realized she was about to blow the perfect cover this savior had set up for her, and brush against her with a wet dress covered in piss and now lemonade. She shied away, and more sedately mouthed "Than you!" to this new arrival, and stood beside her confidently, as if nothing was wrong. "Do you know where I can get a change of clothes? It doesn't matter what kind, this feels really gross. And again, you saved my life!" she whispered, her eyes lighting up. What kind of person just helped out an embarrassed stranger that way?
Meanwhile, Victoria, Honoria, and Carnadine mingled happily with the other students, taking turns showing random fortunates a good time on the dancefloor.

Gray felt his fist connect with Ismael and scowled "Get the fuck out of the way jackass. I'm going to make him pay for this mess he's caused." Gray's voice was filled with a mixture of fury and fear as he attempted to push past Ismael when he heard Marigold speaking and felt Ki grabbing onto him. Gray moved to push her aside when suddenly some semblance of his common sense kicked back in. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!? a voice screamed inside his head as Gray's rationality kicked back in. You're letting your anger drive you again. This is why you were a member of the White Fang to begin with dumbass. Gray suddenly went limp in Ki's arms and went along as she dragged him away without complaint his head hung in shame.

Ismael felt anger surge through him, but he controlled it to the best of his abilities and made his aura deactivate. He started to straighten himself up and scowled at Jack with fury as he started to walk away.

Ki kept walking until they were well away from everyone else. Heck, everyone, really. Finally, she paused, and turned to Gray. "Do you know where we are, because I really don't know my way around Beacon and I just wanted to get the hell out..." she said, trailing off when she saw how despondent he looked. She let his hand drop then, and took stock of him. The poor guy really looked burnt out...
"Hey...you okay in there, buddy?" she asked, taking hold of his shoulders, trying to meet his eyes. Man, this was such a shitty situation for him...
In a decidedly less shitty situation, Niles watched calmly from behind the table of refreshments as Miss Roux and Mr. Eau shared a tender moment. Clad in servant's attire, he remained virtually unnoticed by all, his forgettable hollow-cheeked face and wispy blonde hair easily fading from memory moments after being seen. He hoped Red was enjoying himself, the music here was hardly to his personal and exacting tastes, and the mode of dress was almost universally deplorable. He internalized his look of disgust as one of the women Mr. Pettibone had brought with him bounced past in...good heavens, a tutu? What a paragon of good grace and fashion she must be...enough of a socialite to down a glass of punch like whiskey and grab ahold of some dark-skinned lady...barbaric.
Honoria threw her arms around Xanh, clearly not drunk but acting a lot like it, and screamed "COME ON, IT'S A PARTY, LET'S DANCE!?"

The night air kissed his face, drawing some of the heat from his flush as it slipped past. His frame relaxed with every step he took away from that mess.
Cael eyed Marianne as she grabbed on to him. "Oh you...actually came with me. Wow. I...hell that was just too much. I should have done more, I should have helped get Cheri or someone else out of that shitshow, at the very least. I should have...I should have helped." He slowed his pace slightly to let Marianne more comfortably follow him. He walked in silence after that, keeping everything in so that he at least didn't say something he would regret.

When Ki met Gray's eyes they were empty and it was pretty apparent he was lost in his own head. In his own head Gray was running through the last few minutes over and over again as he tried to figure out how he could have avoided that disaster as his anger built. This whole disaster was orchestrated by Jack and this woman in front of him had played a part. Gray's entire body begun tensing as he considered turning right back around and making Jack pay.

"Come on, talk to me, boy...say something...okay you're kind of freaking me out." Ki was really not liking this, Gray looked like he was getting ready to go do something stupid again, either that or just collapse and have a meltdown right here and now. She didn't like either of those options, so she just did the only thing she could think of. She pulled him in close and gave him the warmest hug she could, cradling his head against her shoulder. "It's gonna be okay, I promise. We'll get this thing sorted out somehow." she said, lowering her voice and trying to soothe his raw emotions. Unthinkingly, she let herself massage the base of one of his ears, giving it a friendly scratch before she could fully comprehend what she was doing. After a few moments it hit home and she paused, wincing. "I...yeah, sorry about that, I'm not thinking very clearly right now..."
Marianne looked out into the night, her face blank. "Mr. DeWitt, where else could I have gone?" She listened to him then, weighing his words and mulling them over in silence before choosing to speak. Abruptly, she stodd in front of him and took the hand of the arm she had been holding. "If you truly feel that way, why not go back?" She looked him in the eyes, taking in every detail of the concern and regret his entire body expressed. "Miss Chanson is your friend. I understand but little of this ugly...event. I can assume she needs you now, though. Go. I will be fine, and seek out Miss Roux. Or my brother." She gave him a small smile then, and a reassuring squeeze on the hand, and let go of him. He really wasn't a bad sort of boy...just so...green with everything. He just needed room to grow, that was all.

As Gray was enveloped in the hug he had been about to turn and go right back but this was physically preventing him from doing so. Then she started scratching his ears and at that point he was completely powerless. Gray's tense muscles almost immediately relaxed and he almost collapsed into Ki's arms until she let go. After that rather awkward experience most of his anger was gone and it was instead replaced by curiosity. "why would you help me?"

Prim let out a breath that she was actually aware that she was holding as the situation seemed to lessen in extremity as one couple she didn't really pay attention left, though Cheri seemed to be caught on something. Then Ki pulled Gray out of that hot mess, and then there was just Jack, Orabel, Red, Cheri, and Marigold, by her count. Well Marigold was probably leaving soon as well, seeing as her... date? The one who stopped Gray, yes, had left with the others. So now it was them versus Orabel and Jack, and the latter seemed to be doing a 180 along with the mood of things. Prim couldn't help narrowing her eyes just for a few split seconds, letting out a small 'hmph,' at his act. Even she knew that doing all of that, and insulting this Felicity girl (Red's girlfriend? Sister? Friend? Co-worker?) in such a vulgar way, then just saying that he got heated, that couldn't pass. She was glad most of the drama was over though, and the apparent antagonists in the whole scenario were leaving too. And she could also swear that they were sort of getting cozy with each other. Well that was a fast move on Orabel's part. So then there were three. Prim could only shake her head at the whole debacle. To think that she'd actually liked Jack in the beginning of the year. It didn't take long for the rose tinted glasses to slip back on though, and the little sweetheart was yet again convinced that maybe having a SO would be good for Jack. Maybe he'd change if she just kept on being nice. He would, right?
But right now she had to focus on the situation at hand. "So... um, that was messy..." Prim said awkwardly. "Are you-Are you sure you're okay, Red? What Jack said seemed to be really, um, mean." Looking up at Cheri's bodyguard with wide eyes, Prim tried to catch any sign of 'not okay-ness' in his face to no avail. "It's good that you didn't do anything though! I think Jack just needs some better role models. You know, it can't be all too good growing up in such a rich family, and you've heard the stories and stereotypes and things, so being uber rich can't be too good for you-Oh wait Cheri I forgot you're here too!" Now facing more in the popstar's direction, Prim continued, "I really didn't mean to include you in there, because you're pretty rich too and all of that but you turned out nice, and I just mean that sometimes it can get to you even if it didn't get to you as much as it got to Jack, not saying that it got to you at all because you're such a nice person and-and-and..." Prim let out a long sigh. "Sorry, I always talk too much, and I never help anything either. That's what Rima says too... But I do know what may help a little bit."
Thinking that such a thing could possibly be useful in a time like this, Prim quickly held up a finger to say ‘wait’ before scurrying over to what seemed like a random tree to pull out a box of something, then wasting no time to return back to Cheri and Red. Oh! And Blanca was there too, how’d she not notice her? Waving a quick hello to the model, Prim opened the cardboard box to reveal circular, flat cookies with a heavy drizzle on some cookies, glaze on others. A primrose design was etched in the drizzle/glaze and it was topped with cut up pieces of candied or sugared rose and lavender petals. “I hid a box of these cookies just in case, which might seem weird that I didn’t stash a weapon instead, but… They’re lavender shortbread, the glaze is rosewater-flavored. It’s kind of my signature cookie. Want some? It's not booze, but they taste pretty good.” Shyly, she held the box out to the four-about-to-become-three still standing around.
“Wow, suave much?” asked Mauve teasingly at Nathan’s response. “And they say I’m good with words. But you,” she placed a finger on his chest, “might give me a run for my money right now.” Smiling warmly, Mauve detached herself from Nathan, though she made sure that her right hand fell down into Nathan’s left. “I don’t suppose we should stay in this little corner the whole time though. Dancing… might not be the brightest idea at the moment… But we can go get some punch, or try some of those little snacks the staff have laid out for us. Hmm?”

Ki took Gray's hand, her eyes going soft. "Huh. I guess that does work on you guys too. I've only touched the tips of Cheri's, and that was for a photo shoot." She sighed. "Because in the middle of your life falling apart you tried to stop mine from crashing down around me. It's why I know Jack's wrong about you. Assholes don't do that." She smiled toothily then, punching his shoulder gently. "You might be a lot of things I don't know about yet, but you're no cheater. Miss Arachne'll see that, once this calms down. It'll work out."
"Yeah kid. Just fine." Red grinned forcefully, and turned around to check on Cheri. Aww, balls. She was a mess, about ready to just turn on the waterworks all over the place. Welp, better fix that. Reaching out and pulling her over by the arm, he gave her a hug and ruffled her ears, making sure to be delicate with them. Those things were sensitive..."Easy, I'm alright, he can't do shit to me. Let him run his mouth, he'll get enough rope to hang himself eventually, the dick. Hopefully sooner rather than later. Or he'll swing on me first." He liked the second option a lot better.
Cheri let herself go at that point, and just started crying into Red's suit. The ear massage was much appreciated, though, and she felt herself melting down into a puddle of wet sadness instead of a frantic emotional tornado. She wasn't exactly paying attention to what Prim was saying, but it sounded comforting and sweet whatever it was. Felicity was just so nice, how could anyone treat her like that...And Cael, how had he found a date without her knowing? Wouldn't one of the other boys have mentioned it? And why was it bothering her so much? That question rankled most of all, and as the tears started to dry up, she wracked her brain for an answer.
Out of nowhere, Prim, that little heaven-sent wonder, produced a box of cookies. In or around a tree. Wasn't she the best?
Red couldn't help himself, and laughed out loud. "Kiddo, I don't know what mold they made you in, but you're one in a million! Cookies! Fuck!" He was almost in tears at this point, and had to let Cheri go so he could double over. "Sugar and spice and everything nice! You're a damn children's rhyme! I love it!" After handing the box to Cheri, who gratefully sobbed a thank you and began weepily eating one of the scrumptious confections, he lifted Prim off the ground by the waist and held her up in front of him. "I bet I could shake you and fairy dust would come out! I can't believe this!" Man, he was going to have to introduce her to Felicity now. They'd overwork her damn oven until it died. Shit!
Blanca simply waved to Jack's teammate, and politely declined the cookies with a delicate shake of her head. Jack had mentioned earlier that her dress fit her pretty snugly, and while she was almost certain it had been a compliment, she had been feeling a little pudgy lately. Best not to risk it. Besides, she still had to meet this boy he had wanted to show her. It was hard to be pretty while eating something with crumbs.

Gray let out a sigh. "I'm not so sure i want things to work out. To make a threat like that even if it was an empty one and refusing to listen when i tried to explain it." Gray gave her a pleasant smile. "I guess so. I also took a shot at him. I would have thought me taking a swing at your friend would make you less likely to help me out. I guess we are even then."

Nathan couldn't help but keep the goofy grin he had on his face at Mauve's retaliation, his heart nearly skipping a beat as she laid a finger on his chest. "Really? My pleasure, then.". He slid is hand into hers as she did the same, keeping his eyes trained on her as she spoke. His gaze quickly switched at the mention of 'snacks', however, and he started scanning the vast room for the tables he'd seen earlier. His smile faded a bit, although a small one categorically refused to go away. "Oh you know I'm always up for food.", he said as he started trudging his way through the hall's crowd alongside his - quite wonderful - date.

Fuck she was right. Of course she was, she had some modicum of common sense. He spun on his heels in an about-face turn, facing the front of the ballroom once again. He strode towards the girl he had left behind, already righting his mistake in his mind. He always did this, thinking in ones and zeros and ignoring anything in between. His dad had often reminded him to think of the shades of gray, nobody was purely good or evil, nothing was purely right or wrong, blah blah blah. He didn't see it that way, but during his short time at Beacon and in Vale proper he had already learned that it would bite him in the ass more often than not.
It was good that Marianne had been there to remind him that he could go back. He found Cheri in the courtyard where he had left her. "Excuse me Red, I'm going to be borrowing your ward for a little bit, hope you don't mind."
Then, wordlessly, he helped Cheri to her feet. Unsure of what to do, where to put his hands, he stumbled for moment. However remembering a tip that Cheri herself had given him for situations like this, he did what felt natural. He rapidly bundled her into a hug, holding her tight to his body for a long moment that felt too short.

Marianne frowned to herself once Mr. DeWitt's back was turned. Well that was a bit rude of him to walk off without so much as a goodbye, but he was under stress and, from what she remembered Marlon saying, almost as out of place here as she was. There was nothing for it then. Making sure to give him a wide berth and let him handle his business, she went back inside, avoiding everyone around the entryway as best she could. Ugh, that awful music once again...Hoping to salvage some part of the evening, she swept the crowd with her semblance, and zeroed in on Miss Roux and Mr. Eau nearing the refreshments table. Odd, the waiter's pants fit him strangely, as if he were carrying things beneath them...Thinking nothing more of it, she went on her way, realizing that she was becoming peckish and that the muffins looked delicious. Oh, and they were Machiavelli's, too!
She had just started to nibble at a blueberry one when the people she had been hoping to intercept reached the table. "Oh hello again, Miss Roux, Mr. Eau. Are you enjoying yourselves?" she asked with a gentle smile. You didn't need a semblance like hers to catch the way they were acting toward one another. How sweet and wholesome, especially after the fracas outside.
Ki looked downcast for a moment. "Well, I guess if that's the way you feel. I'd just hate to think I played a role in ending you two, even by accident. Miss Arachne's why I became a model, and Jack helped get me there. Even if he deserved that punch you were gonna give him, his heart was in the right place. He looks out for us girls." Despite what Red and Cheri liked to tell her, she'd never once been mistreated by him, and hadn't seen any evidence to the contrary. Her brow furrowed. "By the way, what was that threat she made about, anyway? It just seemed so strange and out of character for her..."
This cookie was like eating paradise...Cheri could have jumped on a giant mound of them hot from the oven and wallowed like a hippopotamus until she was too bloated to move. It was hard to just savor the thing too, the temptation was strong just to cram the whole thing in her mouth and collapse in bliss. Mmmmm just as good as Mom's....If she hadn't already been crying, she might have teared up a little out of homesickness just then. Just as she finished the last bites, with her mouth packed full of deliciousness, she felt Cael's arms around her and was too shocked to swallow. In fact she choked a little, but she'd already been sobbing so it wasn't noticeable. Once she'd regained awareness of just what was going on, and been able to actually finish chewing, she returned the hug and wrapped herself as tightly around Cael as she could, taking immense comfort in his return.
"Oh Cael..." she murmured, closing her eyes and nestling in with her tail twitching away, "I've been looking for you all night. It's been awful...I'm so glad you're here. I really needed you right now." Her ears lay flat, the tuft of one brushing against his cheek. Go ahead, crack a joke, bring on the sunshine...
Red, having a blinding flash of insight that he was holding a teenager off the ground and crowing like a total jackass, put Prim down, laughed again, wiped away a tear, and gave Cheri another glance. Oh, that goofy DeWitt kid was back. Smooth, Fernando, smooth. Ah, what the heck, the dude was harmless, just an "I'm as awkward as your racist grandpa" kinda guy. At least Cheri looked happy. That was what mattered. That was really why he'd even come, wasn't it?

Primrose was not expecting Red's reaction, that was for sure. So when Cheri's bodyguard lifted her off the ground, continuing his already surprising words about how apparently great-and made of fairy dust?-she was, a few squeaks were let out, more than a few blinks were made, and she could do nothing but go along with it. At least Cheri was having a good time with those cookies though, that was something good! Prim always loved seeing her customers, or anyone really, enjoying the confectioneries she'd made for them. It just made her day! Seemed like Cheri's Prince Less-Than-Charming had come back to comfort her too, so that was something. Though she could've sworn that he'd been with that pretty girl in that pretty black dress earlier... But Red put her down and her train of thought was diverted.
"Uh... thanks..." Prim said shyly, scuffing the ground with her shoe before realizing that if she wanted them to last, that would not be the best idea. "It's just a box of cookies... Cheri seems to be enjoying them though, so tell her to stop by at the bakery I work at part-time if she wants some more. It's called SweetCakes. Or just tell her to stop by the dorm room, I always bring something back for my teammates, so there's always something to eat..." Looking up and smiling brightly, Prim gestured to the ballroom through a window. "I would say it's even better than the stuff here. I make great coffee and tea too! Rima doesn't seem to like it so much, and Stella always makes sure that there's some underlining mean thing, but it's still early in the school year, they'll warm up. Everybody, or at least the bold people, always say that they feel sorry for me, but Stella and Rima aren't that bad!" Notice how she didn't mention Jack...
Sighing, she looked back to the dance happening inside. “This has already been way too much drama for one night. A day in the life of a Beacon student, I guess! And their friend’s bodyguard who is doubling as a babysitter!” Bringing to her mouth a cookie she’d managed to snatch up before taking an impromptu lift, Prim began nibbling quietly at her signature pastry.
Mauve smiled gracefully as they met Marianne yet again. “Oh why hello to you too Miss Murk! I can’t speak for Nathan, but I have to say that I’m quite enjoying myself so far. I just hope that Mr. Pettibone doesn’t cause too much of a ruckus. I’m starting to get worried, seeing as he’s disappeared for the moment.” She let out a small laugh before continuing. “Ah, it’s most likely just me.” Daintily, Mauve picked up another blueberry muffin, taking a small bite out of it while chewing almost thoughtfully. “I have to say, you simply can’t go back after tasting Marigold’s food. Everything else tastes so plain! I don’t believe that you’ve met her yet either, have you? Oh, I’ll have to introduce you two, she’s the absolute best I tell you! Hmm, I know she’s here somewhere, but it seems she has also eluded me at the moment. No matter. How are you doing? Are you enjoying your stay at Beacon so far?”

Nathan curtly nodded at Marianne, then nodded again to confirm he was enjoying himself before turning his attention to the food. Picking a large chocolate muffin with his free hand, he managed to bite at least a tenth of it without seeming disgusting, bad-mannered or having any crumbs drop or stick to his face, which were feats in and of themselves. Chewing slowly, he listened to the girls talk.

Now it was time for Gray's expression to return to downcast. As Ki asked what he should have seen coming. "well. I don't know exactly. It seemed like she was threatening me with my past but there is no way she would know that. I never told her so it couldn't be. She probably just got a lucky guess and as a result it was terrifying. There's no way she'd have the power to make good on it anyway." Gray rubbed his arm nervously as he spoke before he realised his semblance was still active. "oh fuck" Gray then collapsed to the ground as his time limit ran out.

Threatening him with his past? That didn't sound like Miss Arachne at all...Ki's doubtful expression switched to one of total surprise as the boy just swore and collapsed like a rag doll. In a rush she managed to catch him before he slammed face-first into the pavement, and struggled to get him back on his feet. "Hey, Gray, snap out of it, ah, c'mon, what's gotten into you?" No response. Just dead weight. Perfect. She was lost in the middle of Beacon and her main source of directions was out cold. Maybe she could call Cheri...nope, she'd landed on her scroll when Miss Arachne had thrown her to the ground. So much for that idea...There was no way she was going back to that stupid dance, either. And of course she'd driven with Jack. With a grunt, she put Gray over her shoulders in a fireman's carry and started walking in the direction of the dorms. At least, where she guessed the dorms were.
Thankfully she found a map on a billboard a few minutes later, although she was already getting tired. He was getting heavier by the minute. Oh good, she was close. It still felt like forever. When the hell was he going to wake up? He was pretty clearly breathing...other than being dead to the world he seemed fine. It seemed like centuries before she made it to the lobby of one of the dorm wings. Ki had no idea if it was the right one or not...Who gave a shit? She dropped Gray on a couch, a little more unceremoniously than she intended, and sat down by his head. Whoof...she kicked off her heels, letting her feet air out. They'd been screaming for air too long to ignore. Just a little rest and then she'd find out where he...and she fell sound asleep.
Red took a page from everyone's else's book and began munching on a cookie. Wow, these were pretty tasty. "Okay, yeah, she'd like that. She'd actually like to see a lot more of you, from what I hear. Somethin' 'bout you being a sweetheart, can't say I disagree." He chewed thoughtfully, and continued through a mouthful of crumbs. "Jeez, sounds like it's not just Jackass, your whole team's a bunch of f...freaking terrible people. You should tell them to piss off some time, they probably deserve it." He frowned as he swallowed. "Actually yeah if anyone's a d...mean to you they probably deserve a foot up their...a punch in the mouth. You're a nice girl, there really aren't too many of you out there. You outta be treated real special." Even if you are dumber than toast sometimes, from the look of things, kiddo...
"Man, you are not kidding about the drama here. I was in a gang where we yelled less! Shit!" he exclaimed, shrugging. "People just need to grow the hell up and relax."
"She sounds lovely...and with much regret, no, aside from a short dance with Marlon's teammate Mr. DeWitt, the evening has been...horrid?." Marianne smiled apologetically. "You see, I've just had the misfortune to watch Mr. Pettibone and some other people, Miss Chanson included, start a dreadful row outside. Blows were exchanged, there was a great deal of salty language, all over some petty romantic entanglement...I tell you that if this is what life at the Academy is like, I don't know how anyone could stand it. Least of all my brother. They all seemed such children..." she paused, catching herself before she let any more anger slip. She was here to have a nice time, to relax, and meet sensible, appropriate people. The sooner she put those fools outside behind her, the better. At least she'd managed to keep her face calm and composed, although she wasn't so sure about her voice. Really, what beasts they all had been...

Back in the auditorium, after the song finished playing, turned the music back to ballroom music as the room calmed back down. Meanwhile, she stepped off the podium and called Marigold on her scroll.
Meanwhile, back outside Marigold looked at the cookies and politely declined as the box passed her with a soft "No thank you.". Feeling a vibration in her clutch purse, she took out a wireless earpiece with a small blinking red light and excused herself, putting it in.
"Yes Astrid?"
"Hey General, do you know where Cheri is?"
"Yes, she's here."
"Is she occupied?"
"More or less."
"I see. Can you tell her to come in later? I've got something for her."
"Alright."
"Thank you. That will be all."
"See you soon."
Taking the device out and putting it back into her purse, she then gently tapped on Cheri's shoulder while the other girl was hugging Cael, handing her an unused black silk handkerchief with gold lining. "Hey Cheri, Astrid wants you in there later, but take your time. No need to rush." She then walked up to Ismael till she was alongside him. "Are you okay, Ismael?"
Ophelia stood still as Verdant threw her arms around her and, looking down at the girl for a bit, was about to kindly and gently push her away but then the other girl broke off first. "Since I don't use weapons, I keep some changes of clothes in my Beacon locker. Want me to show you the way?"

Ismael gave a sigh as he ran his fingers through his hair, "Yeah I'm fine. I'm worried for Gray. Jack is a dick, but now it's worst than I expected". Ismael goes to adjust his glasses and make sure he was presentable. He holds the door open for Marigold to walk in before him.

As Ki spoke Orabel acted respective and thoughtful on the outside , as if she actually was considering the possibility of apologizing. As soon as Ki left the room she rolled her eyes irritated at the whole situation. ‘Hokay… time to get the fuck outa-’ her thoughts were suddenly cut off by Jack's words. His flattery pushed all the right buttons, his coy adorable demeanor. Orabels stomach fluttered as Jack caressed her cheek. Her face flushed slightly, and the blushing became deeper as his fingers trailed up her face and to her horns. His words, his actions , pushed all of the right buttons. Everything he did made her feel dominant but shy, made her feel powerful when she needed to feel and slightly under his spell when he made advances. It almost felt too perfect ,and a small part of her doubted how perfect this spectacle in front of her could be. The stunning image of a gentleman who said the right things at the perfect times ,a person who she’d just met who was just charming enough and alluring to make her bite her lip, but was gentle and chivalrous enough to show that he legitimately cared for her.
This was such a strange sensation for her , usually, she was the one on the flirtatious side. She was the one who played men that she wanted to try out for a spin, in fact, the only person she had ever truly fallen for was Gray. His mysteriousness intrigued her and she wanted to build him up , to try and be everything she would ever need to rely on. But this… this was so much different, the level of grace, finesse, and seductive perfection Jack's words and actions enveloped her. He treated her like the lady she was and was confident to make his move. As he moved closer and put his face near hers, Orabel inwardly trembled. She wasn't used to being the one being seduced, but she let herself fall into his spell. She left behind all worries or reservations about her feelings. ‘God knows I deserve this after today.’ she thought as she softly laid her gloved hand on top of his.Everything about him was perfect , even the smell of his breath was lightly laced with the send of mint with undertones of chocolate. “Well, Mr. Pettibone,” She enunciates softly with her face almost touching his. her eyes took in every chiseled detail of his face, his. “ I was planning on heading back to my place,” She says softly and flirtatiously , “But looks like I have a reason to stay, and it would be such a shame to leave without having a little fun." She whispers to him before lifting her hand with the torn glove. The glove softly glows along with her hair and slowly unravels. Slowly breaking apart and morphing into a mass of fabric and seams. It then remakes itself perfectly as if it had never been torn, with only a slight red blemish on the palm. She then takes a step back and holds out her hand. “Lead the way.”

Verdant sighed happily. "Oh, would you? You're heaven sent, I swear." Newly amazed at the generosity of this total stranger, she patiently followed her out, content to be cared for by...whoever this was...Once they were outside and away from prying eyes and ears, she decided to figure that out. "So, I'm Verdant Sesily, who do I owe this rescue to?" she asked, smiling brightly as she walked beside the girl.
Ember, having successfully navigated Beacon due to having been around it with Jack many times, was now waiting for a taxi to arrive. Still fuming from earlier events, she pulled out her scroll, and decided to make good on an earlier threat. There, you two hicks can choke on that...
Jack let himself watch in awe as Orabel's semblance came to life and fixed her glove. It wasn't that hard to fake, it was actually a beautiful thing to behold, but still, an extra dash of boyish wonder never hurt. Man, the attention she was showering him with right now was so heady he might as well have been high. He could get used to to this kind of reaction. If he could keep this up, oh the possibilities in store...but enough about the future, he had a woman to entertain for an evening, and who likewise would be entertaining him. He breathily chuckled as he took her outstretched hand, winking as he did so. "Well, your place does sound like an adventure, but I think an adoring public suits you best right now." He lead her inside then, holding open the door like a perfect gentleman. Before he followed, he motioned to Blanca that Cael was the one he had mentioned, and gave her an "OK" with one hand. Hah, good luck prying him off of Cheri! Once inside, where the music had calmed down enough to be elegant again, he let her take his arm, and leaned in close.
"You know, if any of these people payed attention to everything you've achieved like Ki and I have, they'd all be at your feet." he remarked, sounding thoughtful. "A true desert flower, rising in the harshest place on earth and thriving, all the while possessing a fierce and remarkable beauty." He let his eyes meet hers again. "I have to admit, you've probably heard some of my choice words about the faunus community, and while I still mean them about certain of its members...you, you're something else entirely. You're the exception that leaves the rule shattered on the floor. After years of watching you from afar as a model, I can only be astounded." he purred, both husk and honey in his voice. "I..."
A sharp noise from his scroll interrupted, and he scowled darkly, pulling it out. "I put this thing on silent, you know how it is, I'm sorry..." he stopped talking then, his expression morphing itself into something cold and alien, almost divinely wrathful. In truth, he wasn't even mad, but a gentleman would be.
E: Hey, so that clod you keep arguing with? J: What, Murk? E: That's the one. Verdant and I were having a little fun with Miss Piggy when he showed up and shoved us around. Take care of him, will you? And give Miss Piggy my worst. J: You got it. I'll have an apple in her mouth by night's end.
He shoved the scroll viciously back in his pocket, turning it off. "Forgive me. It looks like you're not the only lady being unforgivably mistreated tonight. I'll have to deal with it at some point, if you don't mind...but for now, let's try to enjoy ourselves?" he explained, clearing his throat and returning some softness to his face.

Fortuna came back into the dance with a content smile on her face, hugging herself close to Marlon on his arm as they waded through the throngs of other party goers, her rather imposing escort cutting a pretty easy path through them as she led them to where she had seen her teammates, joining them next to the hors d'oeuvres, Fortuna sighing slightly as she remembered the wasted cake she had left with that awful Ember girl, before turning back to Mauve with a bright smile on her face, "Nice to see you made it to the event Mauve, you look simply ravishing in your dress tonight," she said pausing as she gave Nathan a sly smile from a side glance, " and I am glad to see it seems to have had the desired effect, though I fear we shall hardly be able to keep the pair of you apart now, especially with the close quarters we keep," she said, a hint of laughter in her voice as she motioned to her escort.
"As I am sure you have no doubt noticed, I myself have found a dashing escort for the night," she said, giving Marlon's arm a squeeze, "and we shall see, but he might have the luck to join me on more such events, but I digress," she giggled before returning to a more formal air, after all introductions must be done properly, "Mauve, Nathan, this is Marlon Murk, and Marlon, these are my esteemed team members Mauve Roux, Nathan Eau, and..." she paused now, looking at the girl Mauve had been conversing with, a look of confusion on her face, "My apologies, I do not believe we have met miss, I am Fortuna Altin, of the South Vale Altins, and you are..." she trailed off, waiting for the girls response

Marlon was at a loss for what to do. His mind was still a little cloudy from what Miss Altin had just done outside, and oh thank the merciful heavens that the music was back to somethin' sensible...He knew a lot of people, Cheri included, liked that scratchy techno garbage, but he hated the lot of it. Give him his fiddle any day...But there she was, Miss Altin, not mad the least bit and hangin' on his arm without a care in the world. Had he really managed to turn his mess around? Naw, it was all her doin', it had to be. That was a fine woman for ya, tender and forgivin' beyond belief. He'd have to thank her someways, he just hadn't a durned idea how. How do ya repay someone for chasin' the dark out of your heart, anyways?
He came dangerously close to not noticing that she was reintroducing him to Miss Roux and Mr. Eau. Haw, wasn't that the most proper thin'? Sure, they all knew each other on sight, they had classes together, but there she went, bein' a lady of breedin' and distinction. He smiled to himself, and it got a little wider once he was aware enough to notice how Miss Roux and Mr. Eau were standin' close like to one another. He was about to punctuate Miss Altin's congratulations with a friendly punch to Mr. Eau's shoulder before he remembered that nobody really took kindly to that here. And also Miss Altin had just blown his mind. Again.
Dashin' escort? Him? More such events? What? How? All he could do was grin sheepishly and clear his throat. It was enough to make him plain forget about how odd it'd be to share a dorm room with your sweetheart, and that was something amazing in its own right.
"Miss Marianne Murk, younger sister to the gentleman you are currently on the arm of." Marianne replied, setting her muffin down as she curtsied. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Altin." She'd been watching them as they approached, of course. Animated, pretty, and hanging off of her brother's arm. She did have excellent fashion sense, if the dress was any indication. She also talked quite a bit, but was a little more frivolous in tone than Miss Roux. Almost more...airy, or possibly high-strung? Certainly less reserved. She knew the remark about Marlon's luck in escorting her was light-hearted, but it still rankled. If only you knew the sort of man my brother is, you'd not be so free with your words...
Well, judging by Marlon's reaction, and the fact that he'd barely mentioned this girl except in passing, this was a brand new development. Miss Fortuna Altin of the South Vale Altins...the name was by no means familiar, and thanks to her current home she was passably versed in the local High Society roster...perhaps Uncle Siegfried knew of them. Either way, given how at ease her brother seemed with this girl, so soon, she would make sure to check with dear old Uncle about just who the Altins were and what they did...
And naturally, she kept all this close to her heart, outwardly showing only a calm, gentle expression, perfectly at peace with the newfound situation.

Cael smiled into Cheri's hair as they hugged, happy to have done the right thing. Cheri wasn't technically on his team, but she was still a friend who needed his help. Plus a super hot pop idol who he had a crush on, but that could stay undisclosed for now, it would certainly make this moment weird if everyone knew.
Now seemed like the time for him to be prince charming and sweep her off her feet, platonically of course. But how to do it...If this were a movie or book he would literally pick her up off her feet and carry her away. Actually...if it worked in the movies why not here?
"Hey Cheri, let's get out of here yeah? Come on" He stooped and picked her up one arm on her back one in the crook of her knees. Bridal style. "Your chariot awaits.
God that was a dumb thing to say.

Language warning in character and in the background music.
Cheri gratefully took the hankie and smiled at her friend over Cael's shoulder, mouthing "okay" as she stayed in the hug. And then she opened opened her mouth to go 'Wha-?" before bursting into wild laughter as Cael hefted her off of her feet. Stage experience served to let her hold the front of her skirt in place with her free hand, up there you always had to mind your wardrobe, but she knew that anyone who cared to look would probably get a full view of her rear even with her tail trying to hold the back half of her skirt up. Honestly she didn't care, no one was in that direction anyway. "Cael, what are you doing!?" she cried, her smile bright and infectious as she let her other arm hook around his shoulders. "You don't even have a car, what chariot?" She could barely talk for laughing so much. This was exactly what she had been hoping for. Pure, unbridled mirth!
Red stopped talking to Prim and just stared, open-mouthed. Chariot? Seriously? "You complete fucktard...just...I...what?" DeWitt, I don't know how many you fucking had before you got here, but tell me where the hell you bought it next time. Geez, the last time he'd done something that damn corny was when he was, what, eleven and his voice was cracking? And even then he'd at least had a bike right there...sure she'd been 16 and he'd gotten shot down, but still...He was about to turn back to Prim and offer some commentary when his phone rang (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cZ7ndjhhps) out of nowhere.
"Shit, hold on, gotta take this!"
He stepped away over by the trees, and spoke under his breath. "What's up, you guys need backup?"
"Dude are you gonna smash tonight?"
"What?"
"Are. You. Gonna. Smash. Tonight?"
"Johnny Boy, I don't know what the shit you mean. Do you need backup?"
"Nah bro it's cool, I'm just checking in to see if you're getting some of that sweet, sweet..."
"If you say what I think you're gonna say I swear I will stab your fucking eyes the next time I see you."
"Chill dude, chill. I just want you to get laid and be happy."
"And I want you to not fucking call me unless you need me to come help you whip ass, and to not talk about girls like that, you dickhead. Bye, bitch!"
After hanging up, Red walked back over to Prim. "Sorry about that, you're not the only one with dumbass teammates."
Somewhere in the rough part of Vale, Johnny Boy laughed to himself, put away his scroll, and walked back up to Dutch's side. Both of them were decked out in gold chains, wife beaters, and do-rags. Their baggy jeans dragged the floor over their overly large sneakers, and they stood with their arms crossed, waiting for an answer from the man in front of them.
"Imma axe you one more time, foo. Big Lien don't like bein' kept waitin', yo." Dutch said, his accent honed by years of practice. He swung his hands as he talked, waving them aggressively in the taller man's face. "I want those motha fuckas who slayed that Roux fucka an' his lil' bitch boy. I got some heads I want knocked off an' I know good work when I sees it, you know what I sayin'? Where da fuck Bagman at? Big Lien is axein' you right now!" he shouted, his temporary grill flashing in the low, gritty light.
The man in front of them, wearing the standard White Fang "uniform", said nothing, and the two-dozen men standing around the abandoned garage gave no indication that they were watching the proceedings.
"Aight, if you don't start tellin' me shit or givin' me a numba I can call or somethin', Imma have mah boy heah tear yo head clean off."
"Yeah, bitch, yo bones gonna make bee-yoot-iful music when I break 'em." Johnny Boy added, flexing. The man drew on them then, and the gloves were off. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKxaZlJdQcs) Before he could bring the pistol to bear, Dutch had clocked him hard with a right, knocking his mask loose and obscuring his vision. Everyone rushed them, and Johnny Boy caught the first one so hard he went flying back through two more. Dutch twisted his opponent's arm behind his back, forcing him to drop the gun with an audible crack. He used the man as a shield against the first katana thrust and then knocked him out from behind before tripping his attacker and using his stun baton to crack him on the back of his skull.
Every fist from Johnny Boy dropped another one as he moved in a jerky circle around his smaller friend, either completely slipping through their guard or crashing home as if it weren't there. Those that dodged him were met with sweeping, almost rapier-style slashes from Dutch's stun baton, first halting their movement and then dispatching them in the next strike. In a few short moments it was over, and all their opponents lay around them unconscious and in many cases in need of medical attention.
Dutch brushed an unfamiliar tooth off of his shirt-front. "How positively wretched. Well, nothing for it, then. They either did not know or were unwilling to comply. I shall contact the authorities and arrange for a pickup, and perhaps this evening will not be a total loss. How unfortunate that Mr. Heron won our little game of chess and was allowed to sit this one out. He must be enjoying himself right now."
Johnny Boy laughed and kicked somebody who was starting to stir. "Don't tell me that wasn't fun, dude."
"Fun? Barbarism is never "fun", Mr. Encore. We did not obtain what we needed, this fight was a waste of our time." Dutch lectured, putting his scroll to his ear.

Cael hupped Cheri away from the Formal, back in the direction he'd left Marianne. Shit he'd just left her hadn't he? Didn't even say goodbye. He'd been understandably preoccupied but still...what an ass. Oh well, nothing to do about it now, besides silently obsess over it for the next few hours. Shaking off the thoughts for now, he looked down to Cheri. "So...sup?"

Prim listened contentedly to Red as he spoke, finishing off the last bits of her cookie in the meanwhile. "She says that I'm a sweetheart? Really? Aww, she's the nicest, I swear! Really, she's the sweetheart, she is... Oh! She has to visit, she really does!" Blinking rapidly at the crumbs and then cringing slightly at the opinion she'd unwittingly given to him, as he'd apparently not known about Stella and Rima beforehand, Prim rushed to explain and take back and trip over her own words. Like usual. "Oh! Oh, I didn't mean to-they're not so-I mean you can't expect everyone to be nice at first! I bet you've known someone who wasn't as nice at first, they're not really that bad..." A sigh. "I'm like a newborn baby when it comes to words and-"
Oh, look, a kindred spirit. Even Primrose had to take a few seconds to process the sentence that was spoken by... that guy. Yes, That Guy would have to do for now. It was just so incredibly... dorky. Apparently Cheri found it endearing though, so it worked. Really though, it was a wonder that it did. She couldn't remember the last time some guy said anything that bold, yet corny to her. Fifth grade? Sixth? At least it wasn't a pickup line or anything like that. Though depending on which one, it might've had the same endearing effect.
Out of the corner of her eye, Prim could see that Red was also pretty much astounded by That Guy, seeing him move to turn back before a phone rang, apparently his. She could only hear half of the conversation, Red's half, but it didn't seem all that nice a conversation. His following sentence confirmed this. "Oh, well, I suppose you have to learn to get along with anyone and everyone to achieve a common goal! I hope he isn’t that bad though! There are times when it can get in the way of said common goal, though you’ve probably gotten past that, right? Right!”
Mauve smiled as Fortuna reintroduced Marlon to the group. Their pairing up for the evening was certainly unexpected. It had a sort of charm to it though, someone as prim and proper as her lovely teammate with a humble country boy like Marlon. Then again, he wasn’t exactly the most rustic, mannerless person out there. Not to mention that they looked cute together, there was that too. “Oh Fortuna, if I’m ravishing then you’re absolutely breathtaking. Your dress complements you wonderfully. And Mr. Murk, you too look nice and spiffed up, if I may reiterate my previously made point. How has your evening been so far? I must assume that it hasn’t been all bad, from the look of things. Based on appearances alone, you two make a quite the charming pair. Nathan and I have personally had a very nice time this fine evening.” Mauve smiled complacently at the others as she waited for them to answer. She’d purposely left out Marianne’s apparently terrible time. It would be a little weird to mention it, not to mention that she couldn’t imagine Marlon’s reaction to be the best, being her older brother and everything. If she wanted Marlon to know, then she would mention it herself.

Nathan waved to Marlon and Fortuna with his free hand - that is, the hand that had about a third of the muffin left in it. He didn't speak because he was busy chewing and, if nothing else, his mom had successfully taught him that speaking while eating is bad. The fact that his mouth was so full that he could barely chew might've also had something to do with it. Swallowing, he bit another massive chunk off the chocolate-heavy, uuh, snack before nodding in agreement with Mauve's last statement, a small smile miraculously devoid of any crumbs gracing his face.

Red listened to Prim talk as he watched DeWitt walk off as if no one was watching, still carrying a laughing Cheri the whole time. Somebody should talk to that guy. Teach him how to have better social skills than a neutered hamster. Oh well, he wasn't terrible in a fight, there was no need to go after him. He'd be close enough to call if there was trouble. He looked back to Prim out of the corner of his eye and gave her a lopsided grin.
"Don't knock yourself too much. You might ramble more than a homeless druggie when you talk, kid, but you're trying to mean something when you open that little dolly mouth of yours, and that's a lot more than most can say. " He laughed a little at her talk of goals and getting over differences. "Nah, Johnny Boy ain't that bad. He's dumb as a brick and twice as ugly, but he means well even when he's shoving his big stupid face into everything." Red paused. "He's an acquired taste, I guess. You want to head back inside? I think DeWitt there wanted to talk to Cheri alone and confess some hormonally charged words or something."
Cheri kept right on laughing as Cael carried her off to gods know where, and just sort of held on and hoped no one saw under her skirt as they went. Things were quiet out here so she was probably safe. Probably. He looked down at her, his face betraying that something was on his mind, and she hopped out of his arms while keeping hers loosely on his shoulders. "Sup? So, Cael, why'd you bring me back out here? The dance is that way!" she laughed, her amber eyes almost glowing in the low light as her ears flattened against her head coyly.

Orabel smiles as she sees his eyes affixed to her semblance . Oh, how she loved to watch people fawn over her , to realize how superior she was to them and how lucky they were to accept her attention. As he reached for her hand flirtatiously Orabel was practically giddy with joy. But the more he complimented her over her , the more she felt like something was .. off It was a small whisper at the back of her neck but she found it hard to ignore, after all, her intuition was what got her so far.
As he coerced her and stroked her confidence Orabel couldn't help but find him intriguing. ‘This Jack is definitely a conundrum ,’ She thought, his words constantly slipped from submission and sycophantic to Endearing and confident at the perfect timings.Every tease was just sweet enough to nudge her along, his demeanor just shy enough to make her feel like she was in control. But it didn't seem to be a complete facade more like a … #d3ae29irection? Whatever it was it made her more intrigued in peeling away the layers and to find out what type of core laid inside of Jack Pettibone. “Mr. Pettibone whatever you might have felt before doesn't transfer into the here and now does it.” She states casually brushing off his history. To be honest anti-Faunus remarks didn't strike much of a chord with her as long as it wasn't directed towards her. After all, “I can't exactly be compa#d3ae29 to the average Faunus can I?” She says letting an iota of narcissism leech into her voice. As Jack comments about the conversation on his phone, her eyebrow raises slightly at his shift in expression. ‘Every cue, every beat perfectly on time…’ She thinks ‘So similar and he doesn't even realize it …’
The only reason it was possible to notice the facade was the amount of attention he was pouring into her let her see that parallels in his behavior and hers. ‘As if that matters' , she thought , not only was he impeccable he seemed to have far more layers than she had anticipated , and for Orabel that fact increased her infatuation. “I am far above those who blame their faults on society, if one possesses enough raw skill and determination they should be able to better themselves and others around them, rather than blaming everyone else for their own faults.” Orabel scoffs. As Jack says for them to enjoy themselves , Orabel nods , “Yes indeed, lead the way .”

Oh god she was looking at him coyly.
"I guess you just looked like you needed a rescue? And it wouldn't make sense to take you back to the place I'm rescuing you from." He paused for a moment before suddenly bursting into speech again, "Shit, wait not that I think you need rescuing I mean I know you could probably kick my ass in a fight but then again this wasn't a fight but if social situations were fighting then you'd kick my ass in that fight too. I just was talking to Marlon's little sister and I said that I regretted just leaving you behind to deal with that shitshow and then she pointed out that I could go back and do the right thing for once and I was like wow holy shit that is a really good point I totally can do that and so then I did do that but I guess I got kind of caught up in pretending to be the hero and inadvertently made an ass out of you and me even though I didn't assume anything. Well I guess I assumed that you needed a rescue so in that sense I did assume something but I figured it was the right thing at the time but I just realized that I really need to stop talking so I'm going to just go ahead and do that lemme know if I should leave or something."
Fuck.

Cheri let him him ramble with her ears pricked, patiently listening as he talked himself close to breathless, and tried to keep up with his words. Wow, he was past nervous at this point, and somehow that was reassuring. It was good to know someone else was just as confused and uncomfortable with whatever mess they'd just walked out of. And besides, he meant well, and that was the important thing. As the words came out like the aftereffects of a late night run on Taco Steve's, the tiny smile on her lips got ever wider, keeping pace with the growing light in her eyes. When he finished, she put a finger to his lips, whispered "Shhhh", and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"I appreciate the rescue, needed or not. The trouble was pretty much over, but Cael, you're not pretending to be anything. Heroes slip up all the time, and the only people left out here are ones who don't care how dumb we look. I don't care either, it was funny and I needed a laugh. So thank you... Remember, being a hero doesn't mean being perfect at everything. Now come on, you're going to perk up and dance with me!" Cheri took him by the hand then, and started to run back inside, nearly getting a head-on collision with Blanca, who had ever-so-quietly come up to introduce herself to Cael.
The pale girl jumped backward a few steps in an unladylike scramble, reddened, muttered something about interrupting, and turned to run as fast as she could back inside to lose herself in the crowd. Which was when she promptly tripped over her own feet and fell flat on her face before anyone could stop her.
Inside, Jack smiled like a cat at Orabel's words. "Oh, comparing you to the average faunus is beyond a waste of anyone's time. Who puts a five-star restaurant next to a McBranwen's? And it's good to know the past is behind us, then." He laughed a little, pulling her into a dance, his feet working with the same fluid grace and precision he was known for on the battlefield. "Dad always said that people who blamed their failures on everyone else were trash, and I'd like to think he's right. If you can't make your own way, that's your problem. We worked for the position we hold, as humble as it still is, and we're not done climbing higher by a long shot." He went quiet then, letting the music carry them for awhile, and held her close. He only pulled away briefly to whisper something to Carnadine as she waltzed past with another student, and the young model smiled, nodded, and winked at Orabel mischievously as soon as Jack turned his head back to his dance partner.
