Title: Ask the Author! The Mythic Scribe's AMA
Post by: The Mythic Scribe on September 16, 2016, 12:52:37 PM
You're falling. Fast. It's dark too. You can't see anything. Pitch black everywhere, except for a little wink of light below you. It doesn't take long for you to reach it, possibly not long enough considering how small the light was. Someone might've sped up your descent. Suddenly you realize that though you've hit the bottom, the light is coming from absolutely nowhere. And the fall didn't give you a scratch. This is no ordinary place. As you walk around, you find that you're in an enclosed room with four walls. You can't see the place that you fell from. There's a ceiling. With a flash of light, something appears in front of you and the whole enclosure changes. Now the room is brightly lit with actual ceiling lights, the walls are a mint green, the furniture is a darker variation of that color and all of the parts that aren't fabric are a deep chestnut wood. Oh, and there's furniture now. Bookshelves line the walls to your side, windows covering the walls in front and behind you. Except they show wildly different scenes. The one in front is of a big city. The one behind is of a rural plain. And you're not alone.

Sitting behind the desk in front of you is a girl who looks like she's about nine or something. Adorable and short, but the glint in her eye paints a different picture compared to her innocent appearance. A teasing smile on her face, she says, "Welcome," before looking back at her laptop. As you look around even more, you see that your surroundings are definitely wrong. The bookshelves are normal, and so are the books that they hold, but the various picture frames strewn across the walls don't depict real people. They depict curiously anime-style drawings of characters with multi-colored hair. Multiple shelves are filled with video covers featuring some of the characters. The only photos of real people are actors and actresses from different TV shows and movies. The floor that you're standing on is seemingly filled with souls pounding on it, trying to escape. And the little girl is still smiling that evil smile, every once in a while scribbling something down with a quill. "You already know that this is no normal room. And you are not on Earth anymore. You. Are in the realm of the fangirl!"

At the last word, the souls trapped in the floor silently scream in agony. The girl is not bothered. "Don't worry about them. They're my pets. Do you want to see them?" Not paying attention to your answer, a pair of blonde twins emerge from the floor, shivering and terrified. The girl croons, "Don't worry darlings, you don't have to perform today." Then she sends them back into the floor, where they once again become translucent blobs with eyes. "All of them are here for my amusement. It's fantastic! They say I'm a bit... eccentric. A bit of a tyrant with my pets sometimes. But people say a lot of things. I do have to admit that they're kinda true though. Well, not kinda. They're true." Wherever she steps, the blobs avoid the spot, frantically shrieking silently. "But I suppose that you shouldn't come her yet. You're not ready. Maybe you should be introduced to me in surroundings that are in your world, hmm?"

A snap of her fingers and you're in a living room with a distinct black and white theme amongst the furniture. There's only one window filled wall this time, and it overlooks a dusty, big city. The language is foreign, not English. The girl has aged a couple of years, looking a lot different from the cutesy little girl in the realm of the fangirl. Still writing on a scroll with a feathered quill, she looks up and motions with one arm to the whole scene. "Well then. Ask away."

Okay okay, more bandwagon jumping! You know how it works, you ask me as The Mythic Scribe a question, I answer. If I feel like I can.

A massive Tyrannosaurus Rex smashes through the wall, spilling stout and the remains of whatever the heck it ate a short while ago everywhere across the glass roof of Shipping Hell.

"HOW DO SMALL PEOPLE LIKE YOU WORK?" it asks, staring at the waif incredulously through sunglasses perched beneath a backwards ballcap.

As she sees the wall crumble, the girl lets out a groan of disappointment at the mess. Nevertheless, she wastes no time in waving her hand and magic-ing the wall back together. "Housekeeper's going to have to take care of that. Hmph, good job, you made more work for a fifty-something year old woman. Amazing, I'll make sure to pass that on to her. That a massive tyrannosaurus rex made a mess of it, I'm sure she'll believe me."

Readjusting the glasses perched on her nose, the girl starts to answer the question posed to her. "We are quite amazing aren't we? Genes and metabolism make us this way. We work... BY MAGIC!"

A man in a long black cloak, a face mask that has crazy engravings on it, some strange armor that seems to be a mixture of half plate and scalemail armor, and a red crown on his head. This man steps through a portal as he says, "That makes lots of sense". He then stretches as he says, "So how do you scribes, scribe?".

"Hmph," she says at the cloaked individual's entrance. "Good to see that you didn't smash through my wall and make a mess of everything like some other people did... Harem King. And you're still not getting any of my disciples under your harems. Off. Limits."

She sets the quill down and looks over the scroll for a moment before deftly rolling it up and wrapping it up with a ribbon, handing it to one of the blobs that were trapped in her floor in the fangirl realm. "How do I scribe? I recount everything. Everything. When I scribe, I may not even know what I am writing about. But I can see everything that happens through what I scribe. Think... Henry from Once Upon a Time. But with more control. And more sight."

"Well I wasn't aiming for them. I just wanted some questions answered before I go back to my realm". He says this as he sits seemingly on air. He clears his throat as he says, "Well, I would like to know why you decided to scribe. It is always wonderful to learn of ones choices".

"Good." replies the Queen of Scribes, taking out another scroll, this time a blank one. "Why do I scribe? I was born into it. I am the leader of the scribes like my father and his father and his father before that. Now if you want to know why I write, that is a different story altogether. I'm a very creative person. I think up little stories and possibilities even based off of my own life, how this could turn out, or this, or what would make a good story from this is my life was a book... All of that. i write because I like to do it, I like it because it's an outlet for the aforementioned creativity, and it's fun. I couldn't imagine living without writing like I do right now, whether it's in rp or not."

The man nods as he says once she is done, "Well what do you like to write about?". He starts to flip in the air as he stares at the Queen of Scribes.

"Fantasy is quite nice. I find myself writing it the most. I always like some drama or action mixed in with it as well. I also love to plan out big big plots and stuff for mysteries or whatever, but those take a lot of time to do. Contemporary stuff is always hard for me to do because 90% of contemporary novels and such are romance-based, which is more my friend's forte rather than mine. Realistic stuff that's not contemporary is fun too though. You don't have to create as much as you do with fantasy and you know how people feel and all of that."

"Who, out of all these other users, is your favorite?". The man smiled under his mask as he said this. He thinks he already knows who she will say but he wants confirmation.

"None of them!" The girl dimples at the cloaked figure, looking like the picture of innocence. "But seriously? Asterisk or Natendo." All of a sudden, a thought comes to her, making her scramble to fix it. "Uh, I mean, Vox, definitely. Yeah, Vox, our almighty lord and savior. Yeah. Vox."

The man laughs a hardy laugh as he heard her scramble for he answer. He then flips himself and says, "Well my final question for now is who is your least favorite user?".

With a, "Hmm" the man stands up and stops floating. As he does this he starts to write in some strange language and speak some bizarre soft yet hard language. And once he wrote about 30 rows of words he flicks the whole thing and a portal started to appear. He waves good bye to the Scribe and left.

A knock sounds on the room's door. After a few seconds, the handle turns and the face of a mind-numbingly average-looking man peeks out from the opening. "Uhh, I was told this was where I could find the AMA of a smol, kyoot girl?" He looks down at a small post-it note before looking back into the room. "Yep, that's what I was told. That, and I thought I heard my name."

"Oh, why don't you come in?" The girl asks sarcastically, narrowing her eyes at the new arrival, who hadn't waited for her to say he could enter. "You're in the right place. Ask away then."

Completely unaware of the more subtle mannerisms coming from the Author's speech and stance, the man comes into the room and shuts the door behind him, briefly glancing at the archaic creature that happens to be filling most of the room. "Well I don't have much to ask right now, but I've at least got this. When do you think your teenage growth spur will occur?"

"Aaaaand another affirmation that I'm tiny as fuck, yada yada yada, still not above five feet, yada yada yada, only seventy something, yada yada yada, I get it." The scribe is not pleased, scribbling furiously now.

"Oh come on, you're still pretty young. It's not like you were 25 or anything. But still, when do you think it'll happen? A year? Three years?"

"For example, I was the smallest person in my class until I was about 14-15, and I just shot up. When I stopped growing, at about 17, I was the tallest. It's not because you're small now that it'll remain like this - far from it. Just wanted your honest opinion."

"Well, since you gave me so many ideas!"

"How would you deal with being 6'0"?"

"Opinions on the electric car?"

"Would you rather have a snake or large spider (both inoffensive) on you when under surveillance, meet someone in a place you know nothing about and where you can't read signs, or do a single skydiving jump?"
Title: Re: Ask the Author! The Mythic Scribe's AMA
Post by: The Mythic Scribe on September 17, 2016, 01:58:15 PM
"I don't know. Because I'm not 6'0. But I would probably feel a worse, I don't like standing out too much." The girl shrugs absentmindedly. "Later on when I'm older, then that would be better. But now, I wouldn't like it so much."

"Electric car... Uh..." The surroundings flicker into stone for a minute before turning back to normal. "I live under a rock and know next to nothing about machinery or electrical stuff. So... can't really give my opinions on that."

"Skydiving! I've always wanted to try that out. The first one, I would get really nervous, inoffensive or not, the second one's just dangerous, but the third one's actually a fun thing. I'm not afraid of heights or anything, so probably that."

"Right. Since the electric car thing didn't turn out so well, how about your opinion on climate change?"

"While I'm at it, how would you rate the current PM of Canada on a scale of 0 to 100?"

Natendo: "Ah, climate change. Something needs to be done about it alright. PM... Prime Minister? Uh, I dunno. I mean I do dabble in politics every once in a while, but not Canadian politics. Ask me about Trump vs. Hillary or something, but I have no idea concerning Canadian politics. Also, politics is never a good thing to discuss because you could anger a lot of people."

Asterisk:
"Oh." The girl thinks for a little bit. "Well I would probably rather have a child of my own. I would love to say that I'm a generous and benevolent person who is selfless and wants to provide a home for orphaned children who need one. But I'm going to be honest here and say that I would probably rather have my own."

She then smiles and looks at seemingly nothing. "Good question indeed. Harem Queen. Why don't you just show yourself. I've allowed you into my realm."

Without an indication of appearance, a girl was just suddenly standing next to Nathan, as if she were there all along. "Wild card. Ask yourself a question."

Nathan barely twitched when the girl appeared next to him. He refrained from hugging her and saluted her with a curt nod and a smile.

"Oh, that makes a little more sense. But shouldn't it be from 1 to 10? Anyway... I would say... an 8.75 on the 1-10 scale, an 87.5 on the 1-100 scale."

The girl waves cheerily at the new arrival, smiling at the co-ruler of another realm. "Glad to have you here. I, Queen of the Scribes, am quite honored by your arrival." The scribe finishes off another scroll, handing it to yet another blob, which flew out the window as well. "As for your question... um...  what one quality would I choose for everybody on Earth to have? Answer would be... compassion or empathy, a good deal of it."

The dinosaur does not refrain from hugging everyone. Simultaneously. With his mouth. Because his arms are smol. And his head is HEUG.

After depositing everyone in a gross, entrail-smelling lump on the floor, he returns to the actual purpose of this place.

"IF YOU HAD TO PICK A FAVORITE DINOSAUR WHAT WOULD IT BE? ALSO WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOUR GREATEST WEAKNESS AS A WRITER IS, AND HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT HOW TO OVERCOME IT?"
Title: Re: Ask the Author! The Mythic Scribe's AMA

At the dinosaur's mouth-hug, the scribe stiffens considerably, looking intensely uncomfortable. Cringing at the slime-like substance now on her, the scribe scribbles down a few things with not a quill, but an ornate-looking fountain pen engraved with gold and silver swirls. The ink is also a queer gold color as well. It's plain to see that this action takes a bit out of her in some way, even if she's only writing a sentence. As soon as she caps the pen, everybody is now dry again, though there is still quite a bit of T-Rex slobber. That she just waves her hand to get rid of. "Hmph."

"A favorite dinosaur?" the scribe asks, thinking for a moment before answering. "I remember that I had a fucking huge book of dinosaurs when I was in... I don't know... Kindergarten? First grade? But I remember one that always stood out to me. The therizinosaurus. Yeah, that'd be my fave. Greatest weakness... Uh... Well that would be a two things grouped together. The first would be my flow of ideas. Sometimes I get so many that I can't take care to write them down, sometimes I'm just stuck having writer's block for a month. And then I tend to not think things through. Yeah, that would be it. Not thinking things through. I don't take the time to carefully develop some ideas, so they end up... Bad. Wonky. Blegh. Ya get the point. How to overcome it would be thinking things through. Obviously. So I've tried to abstain from writing something right away and just writing stuff down, then planning things out, making sure that I know what the ending's going to be when I start. Then again, this sometimes makes it so that I suddenly want it to end another way and then I'm back to square one."

"Uh..." The scribe's eyes widen while she thinks of facts. "I'm obsessed with Vocaloid but not a weeb, I can never choose a favorite color but the combo of black and white usually ties with burgundy and hunter green, I don't like tying my hair up in a ponytail, I get sick easily, my favorite character of all time is Violetta Amouteru, my favorite villain of all time is Queen Levana Blackburn, I'm really insecure, my immediate family consists of five people, all but one of my cousins on my mother's side are guys, I can never keep a diary/journal, I'm a night owl(or as my friend's boyfriend likes to call me, an opossum), my favorite season is Autumn/Fall, once I got six gift cards for Barnes & Noble for my birthday, I'm irascible, my favorite subject in Vietnamese school is math, I finished all of the original Nancy Drew books in 3rd grade, I just learned how to ride a bike a few months ago, I WANTED CELAENA TO END UP WITH DORIAN, I'm an atheist, and... I'm wearing glasses that are being held together by a rubber band, thanks to my little sister."
