Title: New Students and Temporary Visitors [Open] [Event]

A low murmur filled the auditorium as students from each of the academies filled the room.
Malina shifted her feet and crossed her arms. She would be lying if she said we wasn't a tad nervous. Looking over her shoulder she saw the rest of the team wasting their time on their scrolls. Very out of character for Chiu, she thought, but disregarded it as she shifted her gaze to the Vacuo class, to the Beacon class's left. There was a good chance that she would see someone from Alapelagias here. After being away for nearly a year now, she wondered if anyone had changed, how her teammates would like them... her thoughts trailed off as her gaze shifted from student to student, absentmindedly.
Zabar, meanwhile, took a cue from Malina's team and was wasting time on his scroll. On it, several unread messages sat in his screen.
11:52:32 AM <Dustin> Please, for the love of god, take the match seriously. 11:52:44 AM <Weigela> Oh come on, he'll do fine, Dustin. He's got better combat scores than most of us. 11:53:01 AM <Dustin> No, I know he'll do well. But I also know him, and you know him. Come on, remember when we had to go out in that sandcrawler for a week? Remember how he brought liquid ass and used it to keep away Grimm? Yeah, it worked but at what cost!?
Zabar smirked.
11:53:38 AM <Zabar> I'd say that is was a good plan. 11:53:42 AM <Weigela> No it wasn't. 11:53:42 AM <Dustin> No it wasn't. 11:53:45 AM <Zabar> Whatever. 11:53:59 AM <Zabar> I know this is important, I'll be... sociable. 11:54:10 AM <Narina> Can you guys not do this when I'm in class? Wait, where are the two of you??
And that was Zabar's cue to leave. He refocused his attention on students from the other academies. He didn't like their uniforms.
Brooke looked nervously over her shoulder. The rest if her team said they would be here in time, but of course they were a no show. She tugged on her skirt slightly as she looked up on to stage set up in front of her. She hated wearing these uncomfortable clothes. Hopefully this whole thing will be over soon. The last time she attended the Vytal Festival, she had to go to Atlas. At least it wasn't as cold here, she thought.
The murmur in the room died down to an uncomfortable silence as Alban walked up to the stage out from behind the curtain and approached the microphone. "Students." Alban began in an almost too relaxed of a tone. "I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of you from the other academies to Vale and Beacon. We hope the accommodations set aside for you will be enough, the spare dorms and sparring equipment among other things. And for students native to Vale, I expect the best. Now, on to why we're all here. I'm sure you all know that 78 years ago, the end of the Greyed War left the world in near ruin, but we built it back and built it back better than before. I, fortunately, did not have to live through that war. But my father did. The things he told me when I was growing cemented in my mind that a war of that caliber must never happen again." He paused for a moment, looking at each academy's students. "That is why we are here. Not to fight and beat each other, but to teach each other through combat and culture how to be better people. Remember that. To encourage this, we've set up several bounty boards around the room, each with a special selection of missions for students new and old. We encourage you do not go blindly into these missions with those you know. Learn with those you don't know." On cue, countless bounty boards slid out of the floor on the outer edges of the room. "As a parting note, there will be a formal ball solely for those of you who choose to participate in the tournament. Take the rest of the day to get settled or go on new missions, classes have been postponed until tomorrow."
And with that, he walked back behind the curtain.
(OOC: If it wasn't clear, this is a social thread. Meet new students, go to bounty boards, pick a mission, have fun. Or just be social, it doesn't matter.)

Juno had always wondered why the school's auditorium was so huge. Normally, the student body of Beacon was barely big enough to fit a quarter of the space. As exemplified today, however, this auditorium wasn't just for Beacon. Students from all across the globe fiddled with their scrolls and made small talk, which died down as the headmaster made his speech. All throughout, however, Juno couldn't keep his eyes away from the Atlesian class.
He could have sworn he saw his mother amongst the entourage.
He knew that she had applied for a government job, but he wasn't aware she was teaching there. How would she react if she knew he was in the tournament? What if he lost to one of her students?
Juno had eventually decided to move himself as far away from the congregation of Atlas students and staff, wading his way into the Vacuan student body once the students had been dismissed. He felt out of place in his uniform, especially amongst the casually dressed Vacuans, but it was better than being recognized by anyone in Atlas. It was odd how many people had a similar physique to him, though. Similar facial structure, build, skin tone... He knew that his mom was born and raised in Vacuo, but damn. If it weren't for the suit and tie, he'd fit right in next to the sun bleached blonde he had found himself awkwardly standing in front of. In an attempt to salvage any sort of interaction, Juno offered a simple wave. "Hey, man." he acknowledged, unsure of what to do next.

Yngvarr looked around at the crowd of students around him. He noticed the crowd of students from Atlas, and made a mental note not to go near them. Should someone recognise him it could be the end of his short stay at Beacon, as him and his family are deported back to Atlas. He attempted to move away from them as much as possible so as to avoid detection. In doing so he nearly fell over Brooke, bumping into her in a more than clumsy way. "I'm sorry, are you ok?" He asked her.

Zabar raised an eyebrow to the boy standing in front of him. "Hi there." His Vacuan accent certainly shown through here in Vale, but the corners of his mouth curled upward nonetheless. "I don't think I recognize you from Shade, you from 'round here?" He looked Juno up and down. "Well, I guess that was a dumb question wasn't it? You've got the Beacon uniform on and everything. Well, I guess we're supposed to socialize, huh?" He let out a small chuckle before glancing around at the crowds of students around him. "I'm Zabar." He returned his gaze to the student in front of him.
Brooke stumbled back after almost being knocked backward by this stranger. "I- Yeah, I'm fine..." She looked him over. "Beacon, right?" She lifted her arm up to show the white arm band. "Haven. Um, Brooke. Brooke Pallas."

Ismael stands near the back of the Beacon area. The auditorium was always absurdly huge and he never knew why until this day came. The whole auditorium is able to fit 4 different schools and still has a surplus of space. This makes a some much sense now. Once Alban was finished speaking Ismael started to look and found the mission boards. He started to move away and towards the boards. Once Ismael made it to one he started to read through the many missions seeing if any catches his eye.

"Juno. Juno Vert." the young man replied, glancing around the crowd once more. "Im actually not from Vale. I just moved here for Beacon. It's nice here. Warm. Pleasant. People aren't nearly as uptight as they are in Atlas." After a moment's pause, Juno eased his hands into his pockets, clearing his throat as he looked around. "Supposedly, I have family in Vacuo. A line of scavengers by the name Azulii. What's it like out there?" he asked, hoping to start up some semblance of a conversation. Usually, social interaction was easy for the leader of VCVS. Sadly, this was not one of those times.

Camelia was walking around the auditorium, trying to spot someone she could possibly get along with. Although she would've preferred to be wearing her armour, she had to make-do with her uniform for now. There were all types of faces, but they all seemed to be occupied in one way or another, and butting in would've been far too impolite. Still, she had good hopes that she'd wind up befriending one person, if not several...
She rounded a corner made entirely of people and finally came across a likely candidate. A smile spreading across her face, she quickly realized the student was from Beacon. Oh well, no matter. She hadn't met her before, so now was as good a time as any. She walked up to the girl that was her height, black hair with very few red highlights. She seemed to be waiting for something, so it was probably good timing. "Hello! I'm Camelia! I don't think I've ever met you before." She was all smiles, looking into the lass' surprisingly purple eyes as she waited for an answer.

"Oh! You do?" Zabar lifted his hand up to run a hand through his hair. "My sister's a Scav too. It's, uh, dangerous work. I mean- and I know they get training at Shade for a year or two- being around Grimm and the out being to run isn't my idea of job security, if you know what I'm saying." He slide his hand into his pocket as he chuckled at his own joke. "But, no joke it's... It can be rough. I mean, I remember the first year she went professional, she was out of the home for... what.... three weeks at one point? And, 'course, no reception in the desert with just a scroll, so we didn't know if she was alive or dead. She always makes it home though, she's good at her job like that. I'd be lying if I said I didn't envy the freedom she has, but patience is a virtue, as they say." He could feel the scroll vibrate in his pocket. "So, uh, you're a first year, I take it? What's your team?"
Malina looked up from her people watching and refocused on Camelia. "Oh, hello. No, I don't believe we've been acquainted. I'm Malina, and this is-" She turned to introduce the rest of her team only to find them no where to be seen. "-And they're gone. Alright... Uh, anyway. Malina, Malina Nahualli. Leader of team MCCA. How about you?"

Sandy had gotten separated from his team as they had moved into the hall. He had been pushing people aside trying to find them when the speech started. "crap. Guess I'd better find them afterwards." Sandy had to admit it was a pretty good speech and fully intended to head straight to one of the mission boards after he let his teammates know what he was doing. After looking for a few minutes Sandy decided that a different angle was needed. To that end he pointed his arms up at the ceiling and fired off his Steel Shooters. Once they connected he immediately reeled himself up. Flipping as he did so he landed in a crouch on the ceiling and begun scanning the room for his teammates. He completely ignored the surprised faces of the other students below and the curses of the one guy he accidentally kicked in the back of the head on his way up.

Juno listened through Zabar's story, reflecting on his upbringing in Atlas as he did so. The kingdoms were all very different, that was to be expected. But how different they were was something that never ceased to amaze him. The counsel must have a lot of very good mediators. "Yeah. I'm a first year, leader of Team Vesuvius. And you?" he asked, doing his best not to react as someone shot the ceiling of the auditorium.

As Ismael searches through the list of missions he never really saw one that caught his eye right off the bat, but he started to read further and started to see some got interesting. He was interrupted, however, by Marigold as she started to go and speak to him. Ismael response was in a light tone, but without ever looking away from the mission list, "Hello Marigold, how are you today?". His focus was split in half, but he was still able to keep focus on both just fine.

Zabar craned his neck back and put his hands on his hips as he looked up to the ceiling after hearing some commotion behind him. Something about being kicked in the face. "Oh, I'm a member of team Dawn. Dustin, myself even though I don't get the pleasure of having my first initial on the team, Weigela, and Narina." he lowered his head back down and his hands into his pockets. "The other three they couldn't, well, they couldn't be here. 'Course I've been here for... I think three months now. We were supposed to meet up once everyone else arrived, but you know how it goes. Things come up. Plans change. Enough about me, though." He leaned in slightly. "A leader, huh? I could never deal with all that bullshit." He spoke as if he were telling Juno a secret, and just like that, he leaned back in place. "I do excel at eliminating Grimm, though, so they keep me around... You gonna be in the tournament?"

As Zabar explained that he could never handle leading a team, Juno let out a light chuckle. Leading a team did have its challenges. Most notably that he functioned as both team mom and team dad to a crew of occasionally angsty teenagers. Telling people to constantly clean up their stuff gets old fast. "It's an adventure, I can tell you that." Juno replied, pulling his hands from his pockets as Zabar asked about whether or not he was competing in the tournament.
"Competing? Dude, I'm in all three 1st year divisions." he bragged, a confident grin on his face as he rolled his shoulders. "I'm going to assume I'll see you on the field?"

"Hm." Zabar let out a slight laugh. "You're going to have your work cut out for you." The Shade student sized Juno up. "Won't have much time to explore the festival, will you? Shame. I, on the other hand, will be happily indulging myself in all sorts of treats from the marketplace." He pulled out a scroll from his pocket. "I told Narina I would document all the Valish foods for her once the festival started." He said the scroll back into his pocket. "But to answer your question, maybe. Never know who you're going to face out there on the field, since it's l randomly chosen. But I will be participating. Who knows, maybe we'll me in the first round or, if we're lucky, the finals."

Galileo strolled in, he heard of a little social event happening and decided time to spread his tricks to the other Academies as well. He arrived in a much simpler outfit, but those of the female gender. He tied his hair up in a pony tail, wearing a headband patterned with diamonds in a psycadelic design. He wore a white dress shirt with a blue scarf around his neck tied under the collar. A blue skirt was around his waist and blue strap one shoes with white knee long socks. If anything, Galileo in all angles looks like a girl, even on closer observation except that area.
But his indigo hair stood out along with his briefcase and cane Crux in his right hand. Galileo then walked to the very front, near the stage and set down his briefcase. He then made a card with his Semblance Shape with his hand and threw it into the air, with a snap of his fingers the card explodes into sparkles, hoping to garner attention. Once he did, he begins his magic.

Mint entered the auditorium full of students, and a feeling of social anxiety washed over her that she hadn't felt since her first day in Vale city. Sure, she loved being around people, but she hadn't imagined this many could ever be in one place at one time. Combined with the fact that everyone around was taller than her and blocked her view of the room, the resulting effect was enough to faze even Mint. She tried to smile and, hands in the pockets of her hoodie, started scanning the room for familiar- or at least friendly- faces.
This endeavor became even harder for her when everyone around started turning their heads to face the front of the room. Eventually, Mint found a bit of the school's plumbing pipeline that she could climb up to, and, hanging from this, surveyed the room. From this angle, it was clear what everyone was looking at- a hooligan on stage putting on a goofy magic show.

Galileo takes up a piece of black cloth, large enough to cover his whole body and standing atop the briefcase, he twirls and covers himself with it and within a blink of an eye he emerges wearing his more classic signature clothing. As he bows he takes Crux up and uses it to lift up a black bag. He puts a ball inside and sees it doesn't fit if it wasn't obvious enough, he laughs before throwing the ball into the air and the ball goes into the bag without effort.
Galileo then takes off his top hat and draws a deck of cards.
"Who would like to draw a card?" Galileo asked loudly.

When Sherwood was told to report to the auditorium for the inter school event, he hadn't expected it to be so... relaxed. Asides from the proper decorum shown when the Headmaster of Beacon spoke, the large room had turned into a loud buzz of conversations and people shuffling about. Multiple school uniforms were apparent in the crowd, reminding Sherwood that the other schools were visiting. Something about cooperation and mutual learning. He sighed. Students are rarely so mature to work towards such a lofty goal.
...Himself included, he noted to himself. He had no interest in meeting dozens of new students, Beacon or otherwise. What he really wanted to do was meet his team, and get ready for classes. But this would have to do in the meantime. Peeling himself from the back wall of the auditorium, Sherwood wades into the crowd. He puts on a relaxed front, not one of some hooligan who doesn't care about things, but of someone wizened to the world and comfortable the way things are. With any luck, he might stumble on his to be teammates, and kill two birds with one stone.

The display made Mint temporarily forget the crowd and get back into her usual enthusiastic self. She eagerly waved her hand at the magician to volunteer herself while rapidly crawling along the pipe towards him with her other hand. When she decided she had probably been noticed (having by now crawled somewhat near the front of the room), she dropped off the pipe, creating a decent-sized gust of wind around her for dramatic effect.
"Right here! I wanna draw a card!"

Galileo sees a girl waving her hand eagerly and watches the girl land infront of him with a gust of wind, holding on to his top hat before it flies. Putting the cards into the hat, he puts it on and gives his head a little shake before the hat rolls into his hand.
"Go ahead, draw," Galileo said with a smile, inside the hat was a pile of messed up cards waiting to be pick.

Sherwood shifts left and right, trying not to be bumped by the crowd as it packs itself around the foot of the stage. His eyebrow raises, mildly curious. Watching whatever was happening certainly sounds more interesting than small talk with random folks. Sherwood looks to the stage itself, now empty of staff members. He makes his way around the sphere of people watching, and climbs the stairs on the right side of the stage. From his vantage point he could see the... magician? The city certainly is strange to have a huntsman magician.
Either way, he could see the magician and his audience participant starting some form of trick. He pulls a piece of straw from a pocket and chews on it idly, watching the show.

Sandy had been scanning the area where the majority of the Haven students were when he noticed a sparkle out of the corner of his eye. He turned to look and saw that there was a magic show going on at the front of the room. "what the hell? Well I guess he's doing a great job at the mingling thing."

Mint reached into the hat, slowing her enthusiastic pace somewhat. She touched three different cards before settling upon the one she would pick. Pulling the card out of the hat, she tilted her head and twitched her ears with curiosity. Though this was sure to be a fruitless venture, Mint was still determined to figure out the magician's trick before he even performed it.

Brooke frowns and looks past Yngvarr at the.... spectacle... happening behind him. "Uh, no... No- no I haven't." With a shake of her head and a sigh, she looked back to the boy in front of her. "I was going to just go on a mission with my team, but clearly that's not the goal... So..." She shrugged and looked around her again. "Not like they're here anyway. Oh, what year are you?"
"Yeah, I'm sure." Malina said as she glanced slightly toward the stage. "Didn't take too long for this place to turn upside down, huh? Seems like this shit always happens. You know, I heard one year before the initiation, someone blew a hole in the locker room roof. I really shouldn't be surprised at this point, but hey what are you gonna do, right?" There's no way this girl couldn't tell she was didn't want to be here, right? Malina hated this, she just wanted to go the dorm or to the training arena. "Are you... first year?" She asked the girl, attempting to keep up appearance.

Camelia picked up on the hint of discomfort that briefly flashed over Malina's face. Poor thing apparently wasn't happy to be here, for some reason. "Yeah, I am. And you should see my team. The only thing that stops Bianca and Tenne from destroying each other is either me forcibly doing so or Brooke being in the room. What a cherub." Not wasting much time, she switched subject as smoothly as one would switch magazines. "Hey, are you alright? You look as if there's something wrong..."

The fairgrounds were slated to be the most varied this year, and he was going to be too busy fighting and preparing to participate much. Well... Hopefully glory would be worth missing the fair. "Good luck with that catalogue, and it would be pretty solid if we saw eachother in the finals. Competition's probably gonna be fierce, though." Juno remarked, glancing over at the commotion on stage, only to shake his head. "I don't even want to know what brought this about."

Galileo shakes his too hat like its a frying pan and smoke comes out. He quickly reaches inside and pulls out a fried drumstick.
"I don't believe this is your card... Hm..." Galileo shakes his top hat again, this time like he is trying to hold on to a bird and then he reaches in pulls out a white dove. "Archimedes no! Shoo! Stop trying to be in my hat I'm trying to pull ze card out!"

Bianca was enjoying herself so far. Scouting out the new arrivals, trying to glean any information that she could. Oh, and trying to screw them over of course. That was a given. Surprisingly, this got boring. If only Tenne was there. Without her, everything was a lot less fun to do. Her teammate was just too easy to provoke.
But oh, what was this, did she spy another one of her teammates? Why yes she did, it was her team leader Sugartits, who was talking to some chick with red-streaked hair, also a Beacon student if the uniform was anything to go by. Interested, Bianca quietly snuck closer, trying to overhear some of their conversation without dear old Cammie noticing her. Straining, the monochromatic student could pick out a few choice details, such as the fact that Red's name was Malina and she was a leader of team something-something, and that both of their respective teams were ones that tended to stir up trouble. Bianca could confirm half of that statement. It was true that she and Tenne often had a few... altercations... once in a while. Or every day. Same thing, right?
As soon as she heard her busty friend ask Malina what was wrong, Bianca swooped in from behind, slinging an arm around Camelia. "Sugarti-I mean... Cammie! And Malina!" Forgetting that she probably shouldn't have said the other girl's name since she had no reason to have known it before, Bianca continued unworried. "How are you doing? I heard you talking about me and Tenne, Cammie, and I just couldn't resist jumping in." Leaning in a little and covering the left side of her mouth with her right hand like she was about to tell a secret, Bianca said, "She's exaggerating, we aren't that bad!" She was not exaggerating, they were that bad.

Mint laughed at the magician's pretend struggles, noting that this was nothing like any of the possibilities she had in mind. Actually, Mint didn't know anything about magic tricks or magicians' hats. Maybe he's actually struggling... Did he activate the wrong trick? Should I try and help him? She pictured herself climbing up onstage and pulling random things out of the magician's hat, which only made her laugh harder. Mint's level of amusement was very clearly disproportionate to the magician's trick at this point, and several onlookers started getting concerned for her mental health.

Airi sat on a bench placed against a wall nearby the stage. She was wearing a standard issue Atlas cap in addition to their uniform.
Crowds like this really weren't really her thing, but knowing that the concentration of judging eyes would greatly be reduced in this room was enough for her to relax, even if just a bit. Her face was rather neutral, but she watched the magician with inner delight...despite it being a cross-dressing guy. She wondered how Sovereign compared to the guy on stage; his magic is rather morally-questionable most of the time, but she figured magic was magic regardless of magician.
On the opposite end of the room, still nearby the stage, Avery was just standing around with Sovereign, just observing the room for now as he had yet to make a decision on what exactly they should do; Aurum had disappeared in the blink of an eye, and he didn't really feel like investigating the matter. While making connections with other kingdoms' students would definitely be important for his future, he just wasn't in the mood for that either, at least not at this very moment. Messing with the magician or crashing the stage outright would certainly be funny, but if he were directly involved, that was too much negative attention that he didn't care to draw to himself. But...
Avery glanced around the room before he turned to his brother and pulled out a pack of cards from his jacket pocket, swiped from Sovereign some time between disembarking the airship and now, nudging at him with his elbow in the process. "Another magician, huh? She...or he? Uh. They seem to be good, too." He handed the cards over to Sovereign. "A competition between the two of you would be pretty cool and certainly entertaining. and maybe you'll even win some brownie points with some of the lovely ladies in this very room. Perhaps even with herrrrim. Him. Definitely a him. He looks pretty nice, though, you gotta admit."

Galileo then pulls out a slice of cake, with Mint's card placed neatly atop and hands it to Mint. "Mind holding this for me? Your card is somewhere in here, worst case scenario Archimedes being the glutton of the bird he is ate it..." Galileo said, but in his mind he knew the trick was going well.

Sherwood's eyebrow had slowly rising, watching the legitimate magic show take place. The students were eating it up, something he found somewhat surprising. He figured city folk would be hardened, have seen it all.
With a dynamic shrug of his shoulders, he vacated his high ground to go towards the few students left actually looking at the mission boards. While Sherwood wasn't sure if he was allowed to take a mission on his first day, it could hurt looking at what kinds of jobs he'd be taking in the future. He idly noted his neighbor at the board, a boy with short black hair and glasses, but he dove into reading the mission board with gusto.

Sovereign had been standing with his team since disembarkment and had been zoning out since then. He had barely registered the speech Beacon's Handmaster given, nor little magic show that had been going on until Avery snapped him out of it. Rapidly blinking, he realized half of his team had disappeared and that Avery seems to be eying the magic show that's going on.
With a moment to process what Avery had just said, he started to realize the benefits of doing what his cutest little brother said! With a unfazed and massive grin, Sovereign grabbed the cards that were swiped from him, and started to head off towards the little stage his magician brethren had set up.
"I'll make you proud lil' bro~"
As he was walking, he checked his current outfit: the quite restrictive Atlas Uniform. As an Atlesian, he loved his kingdom dearly, but if they can only be much more relaxed it would be great! Even if the uniform is a bit restricting, he still has a few tricks up his sleeves. Quite literally. Sovereign took out one of his metal earrings and quite stealthily put on his ashen-gray contacts.
Sovereign noticed that whispers started to grow as Atlesians spot a very common appearance that had a very... notable reputation. Of course, he knew that they were probably wondering which of the siblings he was.
To be really honest, Sovereign really did not care for competition for he had two ulterior goals. One, was to somehow spread the love of using magic to steal money from unsuspecting victims - he finally arrived at the scene and cleared his throat dramatically, and in a loud voice - the other...
"I am Avery LeBlanc, and I have two things to request of you," In a complete impersonation of Avery's voice, and with a wink, he fans out the deck of cards facedown at the girl who volunteered for his fellow magician's trick, "Pick a card and be my company for the rest of my days~"
... was to embarass his cutest little brother!
He could even hear the groans of his fellow Atlesians as they had just realized which of the brothers he was!

Galileo took a fork out. "Oh thanking me for the fork is quite the honor, here here eat up, you can have the cake," Galileo hands the fork to Mint and then looks at the cake. "Ah there is the card! Give a round of applause to the young lady here, great sport she is! You have my thanks! Now begins my next trick!" Galileo takes the card back and cleans of the frosting before putting his top hat to the side. Using his semblance, he makes a rectangular platform wide enough to put his feet on. He holds it and makes three cups grow out of the platform. He draws a ping pong ball from his hat puts it under one of the cups.
The cups start shuffling themselves before stopping with an abrupt halt. "Where is the ball?"
He isn't bothered by the new comer, its good to do magic at the same time with someone, spices things up.

She put the fork in her pocket, and what she did with the cake could be considered a magic trick of its own. With her hands emptied, she picked a card from the new magician's deck.

Airi lightly applauded with the resolution of the first trick, but her hands were quickly silenced as a familiar face took to the stage. Like her peers, she groaned, though she had more than a reason to because, y'know, of the implication. She wasn't sure what Sovereign's true intentions were considering his reputation: Was he just trying to have fun, was he trying to upstage the cross-dressing magician, or did he have something a little more devious in mind? The unfortunate part was that all three options were perfectly valid options so it'd be impossible to know.She searched the room and caught a glance of Avery's face. She figured he would have an idea of what was going on, but his face was too difficult to read.
Admitting her defeat, she tightened her cap and let out a sigh as she made her way to the front of the stage, ending up directly to Mint's left. She did her best to keep her eyes on both performers. She had been walking up as Galileo was shuffling the cups so she just threw out a random guess. "The center!" she said just loudly enough for Galileo to hear her clearly.

Malina frowned slightly and furrowed her brow. How did this other girl- on of this girl's teammates apparently- know her name? Whatever, it wasn't important. She probably had a class with her and didn't realize it. "Mhmm." She nodded "We all exaggerate about our teams from time to time." She feigned a smile as she turned to Camellia. "I'm just not one for socializing is all... Oh, will your team be participating in the tournament?"
"Ah, heh." Brooke let out what could easily be mistaken for a scoff. "I'm a forth year student. No offense, but any mission I pick is gonna a bit out of your skill range. Believe me, going on a mission three years above you is not an experience you want to have, and I'm certainly not going to be the one responsible for you getting killed."
"Yeah, should be pretty fierce. I'm hoping I can at least catch some of the huntsmen bracket. Those fights should be insane." Zabar lifted his hands out of his pockets and gestured toward Juno. "I mean, full blown hunters are... something else. If you didn't know better they're barely human or faunus." He looked over the boy once more. "And what about you? How do you fight?"

"I remember thinking, 'Man, I'm finally at a real combat school, I can finally do some good.' But the thing is, you don't start off like that. You work your way up, and there's a reason you can't just skip to the top. And I'm not... calling you weak, or anything..." She brought her hand over her mouth for a moment, thinking. "It's just that there's.... Well, I've seen things. Thing's I'd love to forget but I know I can't. Having to bring a first year along on a fourth year mission would not go well. Alright? Understand?" Her brow furrowed and she narrowed her eyes at the boy. "It's not a good idea."

She turned to Malina as the latter answered, returning her somewhat faked smile with a genuine, understanding one. "I wish I was exaggerating... And that's alright, not everyone's a social butterfly. As for the tourney, CBLT won't be participating, but I believe Tenne and Bianca here are signed up for the 1v1 bracket.
Well, guess I'll be leaving, hopefully you'll feel better. It was a pleasure talking with you!" Turning to Bianca, she added "Bii, I suggest you tag along. I know you've been itching for a target, so why not me?" It was difficult to tell, but the smile that was now on her face had something of a resigned quality to it...

"Whatever. Your loss!" Yngvarr said. He felt a little dejected inside, but he knew it was for the best. He turned and walked away without another word, looking for another potential partner/ team to quest with. Unfortunately the Atlas students had now pretty well integrated with the rest of the crowd, making it difficult to avoid them all. He began to move through the crowd, keeping his head down to avoid being spotted.

The realization that she probably shouldn't have mentioned the Malina's name hit as soon as Bianca saw the slight frown on the other girl's face. Still though, she wasn't too worried. She could know the girl's name from anywhere, there were a lot more possibilities that didn't include her eavesdropping on the conversation. Plus, Bianca didn't have too much time to worry, as it was Camelia's turn to respond.
As the her team leader spoke, 'Bii' couldn't help turning a little sour. Not at the fact that Camelia insisted that she and Tenne were that bad, because they were, but at her first sentence to her, the one about her having to stop Tenne. "You know I can handle myself just perfectly," she drawled after leaning even more of her weight on Camelia and sighing dramatically. "Tenne couldn't tear my head off if she tried. We've gotten into a few tussles, but they were all in good fun, right Cammie?" Immediately brightening and smirking, Bianca 'playfully' punched her team leader in the upper arm. "Anyway, yeah, I'm signed up, so is Tenne. Preeeeeeetty sure that she's hoping I'm her opponent because she wants to beat the shit out of me. Oh, and uh, bye!"
Waving to the girl with the red-streaked hair, still with her arm around her dear old team leader, the two teammates walked away, back into the crowd. "And Cammie? No thanks." For good measure, she made sure to add "You're just no fun!"

Five-nine-one. Sigurd took a step up the path, throwing a quick four punch combination, then dropped to the ground for a push up. Five-nine-two. He repeated the process. Five-nine-three. Again. Five-nine-four. Five-nine-five. Five-nine-six. Then he stood up and walked through the doorway.
He stood there for a second, taking in the view and rubbing sleep from his eyes. He was late again; surprise, surprise. The whole 'working to a timetable' thing was taking more adjustment than he'd expected, and even if he hadn't overslept he'd still have lost a lot of time on that workout. Not that it mattered, he supposed. It was crowded enough in here that he doubted he'd been missed, and the others would no doubt fill him in on anything important which might have happened.
He stretched, and adjusted the ropes chafing against his chest. It wasn't that the statue weighed a tonne- although it did- so much as that it was such a bloody awkward shape. But training was training; and, he supposed, if it was easy then everyone would be doing it.
Letting out a loud yawn, he cast his eyes around the room, giving up on the effort when no familiar faces made themselves apparent. Nope, not a clue where the others had gone. No matter. He sucked in a deep breath and overfilled his lungs.
"OI, FOX BOY," he bellowed, deafening a number of nearby students, "WHERE THE HELL'VE YOU GONE!?"

Hearing a familiar yell, Yngvarr turned his head. He saw a familiar face. Normally he wouldn't mind this attention, but he was trying to avoid being spotted by those who might recognise his face. He slowly approached Sigurd. When he reached him he pulled him to the side and said very clearly but quietly "Don't do that ever agian. You see these ears?" He motioned to the pair of wolf ears sprouting from his head. "They mean I can hear better than most of the humans in this room." Then, turning his frown into a smile he slapped his friend on the back, laughing. "Took you long enough to get here. I'm sure all the good missions are gone now. Lets go take a look." He turned and began to move towards the boards at the edge of the room once more.

"Oi, oi," Sigurd called, grasping the other boy by the shoulder and spinning him back around. "Don't you think you're forgetting something?"
He planted his feet, then, putting all of his considerable strength behind it, launched a ferocious uppercut towards the younger boy's stomach. His fist sank into Yngvarr's abdomen with a loud thud, and the floor trembled slightly under the residual shockwave.
Sigurd withdrew his fist, grinned, and stepped closer to his teammate. "Little bastard. Whose job was it to wake me up this morning?"

Yngvarr grunted as he was punched in the stomach. As his teammate withdrew his fist Yngvarr lined up his own. One hand on the other boy's shoulder, he threw a punch directly at his belly. Yngvarr enjoyed being with Sigurd. Most people would have thrown up from that sort of punch, at least. But Sigurd took it easily. Once he was satisfied, he pondered for a moment. "I don't know. Was it mine? I just wanted to get in on the action!" He beamed from ear to ear.

Juno shrugged as Zabar threw up his hands, offering a small wave as the other fighter headed to the sparring hall. "Yeah, man. See you around." He called after the Vacuan, pausing a bit before letting out an agitated sigh. He wanted to fight this guy, and the tournament would be uncertain. He might have just lost out on his chance, but hopefully was still time. "Omicron, what would my ETA to the locker room be if I ran?"
"Estimated at five, six minutes? Why?"
"I think we just got an invitation to spar." Juno replied as he began to move through the crowd, waiting until he had gotten to a hallway to break into a sprint toward the locker room and sparring arena.

Sigurd considered for a moment. Much as he hated to admit it, Yngvarr wasn't exactly wrong. With What's-His-Face never around, and Rosa still in the infirmary after that unfortunate and entirely unforeseeable accident in their sparring match, their lineup did leave a lot to be desired. Remembering the girl sparked a twinge of guilt, but it didn't last long. She should have been tougher was all.
So, who to ask. Not that he really knew anyone else; but then again, it couldn't hurt to make some new friends now that he was here. Sigurd hesitated for a moment, then was struck by a sudden thought. Don't do that ever again. He scratched the stubble on his chin. Don't do that ever again. His eyes began to twinkle, and a mischievous smile traced its way across his face.
He paused for a moment, cleared his throat, then turned to address the entirety of the room. "LISTEN UP, WANNABEE HUNTERS AND, ERR, HUNTER-ESSES! ME AND MY SUBORDINATE HERE ARE LOOKING FOR A COUPLE OF FELLOWS FOR A MISSION! ABLE-BODIED, EXPERIENCED, BIG MUSCLES! THERE'S GONNA BE FIGHTING, AND..." He trailed off and turned to Yngvarr.
"We do get to fight, right?"
He didn't stop to wait for the answer, but continued with his speech. "GONNA BE FIGHTING AND, I GUESS, ADVENTURING OR SOMETHING! DON'T REALLY KNOW MYSELF, BUT POINT IS, IT'S GONNA BE FUN! TWO VOLUNTEERS! DON'T MISS IT!"
He sucked in a deep breath, massaging his temples. It had seemed like a good idea beforehand, but now his chest felt prickly and there were little spots dancing across his eyes. He leaned on his teammate for a little support. "Out of interest, what actually is this action' you're on about?"

That's when most of the older students in Beacon that were around groaned audibly. He laughed it off, he knows of his reputation as the trickster.

He then placed it upon the head of the man in front of him."Are you one of those women who believes they are a man inside?" he wondered. "You must be all muscle no brain if you still think I'm a lass, anyway watch," Galileo grabbed his cane without making the ball fall over his head and clicked a button, a shuriken comes out and with a smile. He throws the shuriken at Yngvarr, of flies dangerously close before it boomerangs back and slices the ping long ball in half without cutting Galileo's hair. "Oh you use the sword right? How about a sword fight, you can only hit the person with just your sword, no hand to hand, no range uses or functions allowed. "

The mention of a fight was enough to catch Sigurd's attention. Deadly serious all of a sudden, he stopped trying to find a justification for the student falling from the ceiling, pushed aside his taller teammate, and placed himself between the two.
"No need to get heated," his tone allowed no disagreement, "I'm sure it was just a joke. The lady meant you no harm. And this kid," he slapped Yngvarr across the back of the head, "isn't exactly the sharpest knife in the crayon box, so I wouldn't get too worked up about what he says.
"As for you," he turned accusatorily to Galileo, "you might want to exercise a little more caution when you go round starting scraps with others. Fighting isn't a game, you know." He held up his gnarled right arm to help the point sink in. "It's deadly serious. One little mistake, one tiny slip up, and that's it. Your life is over. Done. Gone. You aren't coming back.
"So what's all this crap I hear about 'swords only', 'no hand to hand', 'no functions'? You think they have rules like that in the real world? Try pulling a stunt like that and you could get yourself killed; maybe your friends too, worst case." He stepped closer, lowering his head to look the shorter boy in the eye. "Train for reality. When you challenge someone to a duel, you hold nothing back; 'cause doing anything else only creates bad habits. No rules, no regulations, the fight is over when the fight is over: that's how you're supposed to do it."
"Of course," he laughed, stepping back and lightening his tone once more, "that's ignoring your biggest mistake. You're looking to start something, I'm the one you come to. Not fox-ears here. How about it?" He grinned hopefully. "You wanna go?"

Galileo gave a hearty laugh, hearing Sigurd's very long speech. He understood everything, that was drilled into his head by his girlfriend's dad. He could see a funny conversation between them. He gives a goofy grin.
"Now who said it was going to be a serious fight? You my friend definitely must fight seriously when it comes to friends too. No offense though, but I really am no girl, here I'll show you concrete evidence without removing my pants," Galileo pulls out his wallet from his jacket sleeve and shows Sigurd and Yngvarr an identification card. On it, says Galileo is a male. He gives Sigurd a punch on the arm, with no strength put into it for laughs before putting his identification card back in his wallet. "Don't worry mate, I'm still in, I'm not offended by him, that is about the most serious thing you hear from me."

A horrible chill settled over Sigurd as Galileo offered concrete proof, and he was immeasurably relieved to find his predictions off. "What do you know," he said to Yngvarr, "She really is a guy." He wondered whether to punch back, but managed to restrain himself. There was a reason he got on so well with the fox kid, and it wasn't his deep and insightful conversation. Most people weren't quite so robustly built; and third year or not, if looks were anything to go by this new person wasn't exactly the epitome of sturdiness.
"So you're a third year, eh? Well," Sigurd pondered, scratching his chin again, "that's all well and good, but- and I don't mean to demean you here, because I'm sure you've picked up a few tricks along the way- I can't say you exactly look the part. See, me and Yngvarr here are looking for someone tough, who we know is solid enough to rely on. So I'll lay something down. You and me, outside, now, no handicaps. And if you can beat me," he struggled to maintain his poker face, hiding his eagerness for a scrap, "you can sign your name on that list next to ours. I think. I mean I haven't really checked, so it might not be a list, but you get the idea."

A fight? Already? Avery turned up his wrist to glance at his watch. It hasn't even been 10 minutes yet! These Beacon guys really are rough around the edges. Not even the Vacuan and Mistrali were doing anything of the sort, he thought, completely ignoring the fact that he was also a part of a band of bandits and he had just attempted at causing a minor disruption. Sigurd's comment about dueling certainly stung, but he knew it also had some truth in it based on some of his peers. Given this, he briefly wondered if he should get himself involved but decided to sit back and let them resolve their own issues, and they seemed to be doing fine...-ish by the looks of it.
It would be a lie to say that Airi wasn't disappointed that the magician had decided to remove himself from the stage so quickly, especially for something as trivial as a friendly fight. But she supposed that that was what everyone here was for, after all, so it couldn't be helped. Well, at least Sovereign...was still here; she never thought that she'd think such a thing. Still, at least she could keep a better eye on him now that Galileo was of the stage..

"... This place is a madhouse..." Sherwood says aloud as the Magician and ruffians head outside. All throughout their exchange Sherwood's brow rose, an subtle yet quite clear expression of his amazement. And not the good kind of amazement. "Dust help me I don't end up on a team with those guys..." He mutters as he turns back to the boards. Despite the glowing opportunity to take missions despite being students, not many seem to be looking at them. A few dedicated people had to be better than the chaotic events going around the rest of room.
With that decision in mind, Sherwood heads up to the closest observers of the boards, a girl with long blonde hair next to a boy with different colored irises and black hair. " X'cuse me. Either of you happen to know if brand new students can work this missions? My figuring is you need a team before you can officially take missions, but... Can't hurt to be sure." He says with a small wave.

The stage had become significantly less interesting since the cross-dressing magician left. Mint didn't want to be rude to the Atlesian still left on stage, but she really would've preferred to go somewhere else, maybe take a mission from the board. She looked around her to see that nobody was really paying attention to the stage anymore, and guiltily returned the card. "I'm sorry, but I should get going. I'm sure your trick was really cool though!" She smiled and walked backwards a few steps before turning around and briskly walking toward the mission boards.

Sovereign frowned, as he watch his magician friend go away AND audience disappear. Now it wasn't any fun, since there was no one watching! At least he made a killing out of it. Subtly using his semblance for a second, he flicked the deck back into position. With a brief smirk, Sovereign quickly runs through the deck through complex cuts and shuffles to pass the time.
"It's a shame the other magician left, he looked like quite a nice fellow." He wasn't salty at all! It would be a lie to say that he was slightly salty. Sovereign was just simply a little mad about the other magician's performance being interrupted for a fight. Fights aren't fun! On the other hand...
Sovereign expertly puts away the deck with a flourish and it seems like it's nowhere at all in any of the pockets Atlesian Uniforms provided. He pulls out a wallet, then the wallet's ID card as he reads it aloud to himself, "This belongs to one... Austin? Huh, no last name."
As if he was saying "What can you do?", Sovereign chuckles as he remembered how he bumped into a student on the way to the stage and swiped their wallet. He chucks out the wallet that still had a few lien in it and left it behind on the ground
With a grin, Sovereign quickly started to walk away and made sure no one was looking before stealthily checking the lien he stole from the poor bastard that he was going to use for the trick. After a few seconds, he found that there was about 50 lien. Not so bad for a steal!
... Stealing was fun.
Until Sovereign happened to pretty much run into Airi. Uh oh. With a slightly uneasy grin (you never know with Avery's friends, he's such a downer), he quickly stashes the lien away before doing a shaky wave and flirtatious smile.
"U-Uh... Hiya!"

"Huh, what do you know!" Yngvarr muttered, surprised to find the strange person wasn't lying about his gender. He stood for a while in his thoughts before he realised the others had begun leaving. He quickly darted after them, making his way through the crowds that were now watching him.

Airi crossed her arms and stared at Sovereign. "I can't believe you. Well I can, but really? I hope you weren't planning om doing anything with those two." She might as well have been his mother at this point. She held out her hand. "C'mon, hand it over.." Her voice was stern and authoritative.
Meanwhile, Avery was smiling, internally chuckling as Airi of all people managed to bust Sovereign. It sure made up for the failed magic show.

With a frown at being caught, Sovereign hesitantly reached for where he had stashed the stolen lien. Suddenly, Sovereign was struck with the greatest of ideas! He channeled all his charm into his face, with it amounting to as if Sovereign was a kicked puppy. Sovereign had intended to overwhelm Airi with his charm, after all, he was sure he truly had the cutest of faces!
"P-Please~?"
Hoping that could also serve as a suitable distraction, Sovereign slowly started to inch towards the nearest exit with the cutest expression on his face. He fully intended to book it if Airi didn't fall for it. Sovereign worked hard for it damnit! He deserved to keep the lien that was hard to steal off some poor shmuck.

She scratched her right ear and moved her pink hair from her face. She walked up to the crowd and stood next to a student. "What exactly is going on here?"

"Oh no no no no no. That cutesy act isn't going to work on me and," Airi's hand shot out and grabbed Sovereign's arm, "Don't you think about running, either." She had caught on to his game, pointing two fingers at her eyes remind him of what she was in case he'd forgotten. "Let's go."
She dragged Sovereign all the across the room, not the authorities but to Avery; Atlas' reputation was at stake, after all, and she figured it'd be best to keep it on the low. "Your brother picked up a wallet. Get it and make sure he doesn't pull any other stunts." She made sure to stay as hush as possible. "[color=#3E5AB]I'll be back.[/color]" With that, she disappeared into the crowd.
As soon as Avery was sure she was gone, he said, "All you were supposed to do was entertain the people and instead you got caught by Airi of all people. She's relentless if you haven't figured it out already." He placed a hand on his chin as he thought of how they should proceed. "All she cares about is the wallet. If we just leave it here on the ground, she probably won't be bothered to come after us."
