CHARACTER
Name: Isabelle Aozora
Age: 17, born on the 5th of Niege
Species and Gender: Female Cat Faunus
Symbol: Will add when completed
Occupation: First year student at Beacon
Appearance: Isabelle stands at 5'4 and weighs 121 pounds, with a somewhat thin build, though not entirely lacking muscle. Her skin is pale and her eyes are light blue, while her hair is long and dark black. When untied, it reaches past her shoulders, stopping about a quarter of the way down her back. On top of her head, she has two small cat ears, matching the color of her hair, as well as a tail on her backside that she usually keeps tucked away. As for clothing, Isabelle's outfits tend to vary. She can most often be seen wearing a dark colored hoodie with jean shorts along with sneakers or boots, depending on the weather. If it happens to be hot outside, she may prefer a t-shirt, but avoids it whenever possible, as she tends to use thicker clothing to hide her flatness. In combat, her outfit doesn’t change much, besides adding a small pouch on her belt that is meant for carrying dust, and the obvious addition of her weapons. Her bow and quiver are placed on her back, while her sword is sheathed on her hip.
History: Isabelle’s birth was, for the most part, an accident. Her father, Kyo, and her mother, Adreanna, were still fairly young when they had her. Not having much money to begin with, they lived in a tiny home in a small, insignificant village. After a few months, Kyo had managed to get himself a decent paying job working at a factory, and Adreanna spent most of her time at home taking care of Isabelle.
The family did well for the first few years, but things began to change as Isabelle grew older. Her father still worked in the city, bringing whatever food and clothing he could. As time went on, he started coming home later and later, sometimes not at all. He would even disappear for days on a few occasions, all while claiming that he worked overtime to get more money to help them out. Despite this, they were obviously growing poorer, though he continued to deny it completely. Isabelle's mother began to blame most of their problems on her daughter, even claiming that they wouldn't be in such a disastrous situation if the girl had never been born. This verbal abuse slowly grew into physical abuse, quickly causing her to grow a hatred for her parents.
However, there was one person in her life that she didn’t completely resent. Kyo’s sister had visited them every now and then, and while she had noticed that they weren’t in great living conditions, Isabelle’s father always assured her that he was working on making things better for them. As the woman was a Huntress, Isabelle looked up to her, admiring the fact that someone would risk their life on a daily basis just to help others that couldn't help themselves. She had even asked Isabelle if she would like to visit her home for a few days, and of course, she accepted. It was then that her aunt began to ask Isabelle questions, like if she enjoyed living at home or if she was eating enough. It didn’t take very long for her to decide that the girl needed to be raised better. It took a long time for her to convince Isabelle’s father to let her stay there, but he eventually gave in, finally realizing that they were going nowhere fast.
Isabelle spent the rest of her childhood with her aunt. At the age of twelve, she convinced her aunt to start teaching her sword fighting and archery, deciding that she wanted to follow in her footsteps and help people. Some time later, she applied to her first combat school and was accepted. Unfortunately for her, she didn't fit in very well with the students there, as she hadn’t interacted with others her age for her entire life. She was often picked on and bullied for being an outcast, the fact that she was a faunus only making things worse. Over time, she began training not just to be able to help others, but to make herself stronger. Tired of being considered by many to be weak and pathetic, she pushed away any others that began to grow close to her, forcing herself to focus only on getting better.
At the age of seventeen, after graduating from her basic combat school, Isabelle received her invitation to Beacon Academy. Saying goodbye to her aunt was difficult, as she had been more of a mother to her than her actual mom. After thanking her for everything she had done and promising to visit as often as she could, she headed off to the academy, redesigning her weapons to resemble that of her mentor’s.
Personality: Isabelle is a kind but somewhat quiet person. She isn't great at interacting with others, often saying things that she immediately regrets. This is mostly due to the fact that she went a long portion of her life without much social contact. If forced into a situation where she feels uncomfortable, she usually becomes a nervous wreck, and will try to do whatever she can to get away. These qualities make it difficult for her to make friends, but if she can bring herself to trust someone, the side of her that they see is much different. She will act a lot more friendly, and will be more likely to laugh and joke around, things that she rarely does around people she doesn’t know well. Despite her timid personality, Isabelle also has a somewhat short temper. If someone is repeatedly rude or racist towards her, she will probably end up telling them off. She also acts this way if she sees someone picking on another faunus, which sometimes gets her into fights that she would rather not be in.
Aura and Semblance: Isabelle’s semblance allows her to charge up a powerful jump. It only builds up when she is moving, so it can’t be charged while she is standing still and shooting her bow. If she were to run for about five seconds straight, it would be ready to use. The move can be charged by ways other than running as long as she is in motion, such as fighting someone up-close with her sword, though this would take longer to build it up. There is also a cooldown of five seconds after using it before it can begin to charge again.
When the ability is used, she will be propelled at very high speed in whatever direction she chooses, whether it be straight up, forwards, sideways, etc. If jumping upwards, she can usually get about 20 feet off the ground before starting to fall back down. This gives her a small window of time to fire her bow at any opponents below. If she were to use it to propel herself forwards instead, she would only get maybe three-fourths of the distance, but can use it to greatly increase the power of a sword strike if lunging at an enemy. Even if not using her sword, it would do a decent amount of damage if she were to simply collide with something, though that would hurt her as well. When in use, Isabelle will glow a light blue color until the jump is over.
Like any semblance, it has it’s downsides. If someone could manage to hit her during the jump, while unlikely, it would hurt her quite a bit and reduce her aura a lot more than any normal attack would. As mentioned before, it can only be charged when she is moving, so if she is in an environment where running isn’t an option, it is rather ineffective. While jumping up gives her an easy shot below with her arrows, it also leaves her quite vulnerable to getting shot out of the sky as she can’t do much to block or dodge while falling.
Combat Behavior: Most of her fighting revolves around either staying far away and shooting, or hitting and running. When fighting alongside her team, she tends to support them from a distance more often than not, picking off individual enemies with her arrows. Once she either runs out or is too close to shoot at them, she will switch to her sword, using her agility to her advantage. While up close, she can fight well if it is a one-on-one situation, but if surrounded by multiple enemies, she will begin to struggle. Not wearing any armor allows for her to move quickly, but of course, she can only take so many hits with her aura before she is entirely exposed to attacks. She is able to block smaller attacks with her sword though, so if her opponent doesn’t hit very hard, she can stay up close for a longer period of time. Her semblance allows her to quickly exit close-combat situations if she were to jump backwards, making it easy for her to retreat and let some arrows loose if her sword is ineffective.
WEAPON
Name: Shimoarc
Primary Form: Isabelle’s main weapon is a compound bow. The body of the bow is mostly colored blue, while the grip, wheel and string are all black. Along with it, she carries a quiver of arrows on her back, usually holding ten to fifteen arrows at one time.
Dust Functions: All of the weapon’s abilities with dust lie in the arrowheads that Isabelle uses. She doesn’t use special arrows as much as regular ones, as they aren’t always reusable. Instead, they are saved for special situations. Their purposes depend on the type of dust-infused arrowheads that she uses, all of which are activated on impact. She tends to use them if she needs to set something on fire, freeze a target from a distance, electrify something, etc. These also come in handy during fights against opponents that normal arrows don’t do well against, such as an armored target.
History: Isabelle originally purchased the weapon, originally hoping to just use it while she was being trained for combat. However, she grew fond of the bow, deciding to keep it and customize it instead of replacing it with a handmade one. She has continued to use it since, making changes here and there to try and perfect it over time.
WEAPON
Name: Cascade
Primary Form: Cascade is a somewhat ordinary looking sword, the blade being about two and a half feet long, while the handle is slightly less than a third of the blade’s length. The handle is black with small blue patterns on it, and the blade itself is white.
Dust Functions: There is a small hole on the bottom of the handle where a vial of dust can be inserted, charging the blade with effects depending on the type inserted. The effect only lasts for about thirty seconds, and the vials themselves are not reusable, so Isabelle uses them sparingly (much like her special arrows).
History: Up until she left for Beacon, Isabelle used a plain sword as her secondary weapon, which was a bit shorter and lacked any dust abilities. Once she was accepted into the academy, her aunt crafted this weapon and gave it to her as a gift, hoping that it would help her become a better fighter.
[spoiler=Changes]Most of the sections have minor changes, mostly just a couple words changed or moved. Age changed from 18 to 17. Semblance has been completely redone, and with it some changes to Combat Behavior. History has no changes.
