Title: Ghastly Business: All Hallow's Eve (Open)
Post by: Uncouth T-Rex on October 15, 2016, 12:47:25 AM
Spoiler: ShowHide
Characters may enter and leave as they please, it's essentially a street festival. Have fun, and don't let the goblins catch you alone! Depending on what part of Old Vale you're in, structures or either Colonial, Victorian, or Medieval.

Old Vale, normally such a sleepy, sedate section of town, was alive with revelers tonight. The entire section of town was decked out in all manner of ghoulish decorations, ranging from the comical to the downright macabre. Candles were omnipresent, both in and out of Jack o' Lanterns, and the streets were thronged with every sort of costume imaginable. The smell of sweets of every conceivable variety, along with the heady aroma of Fall brews and strong ciders, permeated the chill night air. Eerie music punctuated by shrieks of fright or wild, unchecked laughter echoed down the alleyways, giving the festival a little more atmosphere. On every block booths had been erected to peddle this and that, all goods being sold in keeping with the spirit of the evening, here a candied skull, there a spooky, cobweb-like shawl, and over here a little wooden skeleton man controlled by strings, dancing to a bony xylophone band.

Far above the celebration, distant thunderheads let out an occasional grumble as a grand yellow moon sailed through wisps of gauzy grey cloud. It was All Hallow's Eve in Old Vale, and fun and mischief was in the air!

Kelly strolled through the streets where the festival took place, receiving quite a few lustful stares from men. Her costume a bit skimpy. She put on black masscara and purple lipstick. She would wear a witch hat but... she would set in on fire the moment she activates her semblance. She wore short shorts that had spider web veil over them that was partly transperant. She wore a similar thing for her black shirt, which had low v-neck which showed a bit of her bra, a black veil that looks like spiderwebs was hung around her shoulders. She wore black highheels with a bat sigil.
She had a reason, the costume was made to go with her semblance. She would look skimpy now but not so much once she shows off the green fire. She struts through, hoping to find something interesting.

Siegfried Rosenrot, despite having no success at finding his nephew Marlon in the crowd, a surprising thing given the man's size, was enjoying himself. Out for a walk among the festivities, he was dressed in a simple black silk shirt and pants, and wore a mask of the same material like a pirate's bandanna over his head. How fitting, considering that with Drachenbalger at his side, some black leather gloves, and his usual cavalry boots, he was The Dread Pirate Roberts, complete with a fake mustache. And of course, his wife Winnifred walked beside him dressed in red as the beautiful Buttercup. While not everyone recognized the two legendary figures for who they were, the pair did receive some approving nods.

Maximo, completely unrecognizable as a pint-sized Beowulf, was more cuddly than ferocious as he dashed around growling at everyone in reach, doing his best to live up to the monster's Grimm reputation. Aside from some plastic eyes, the entire thing had been sewn and stuffed by his sister Melinda, and was holding up remarkably well even with the abuse he was already putting the costume through.  Spying something interesting, he dashed forward, out of Winnifred's reach, and playfully tugged at the grey-haired cat lady's tail. As he pulled, he raised his free paw and howled as loud as he could, which from inside the suit came out very muffled and less than true to life.

Marigold's Spooky Food Stand

Marigold didn't hold back for this year's Halloween Festival. She had already been planning two weeks ago and today, those that were able to help her were all functioning in tip-top shape. Thus, she was confident as she stood at her rather large food stand wearing a black baby doll dress and a headband sporting cat ears along with a lightning blue colored contact lens over her right eye. Along with a large bowl of candy, there was an assortment of treats at her stand, all made by her using ingredients of the highest quality including:

Pony-Rides with Orchid and Dullahan

This year, Ladylake had brought 8 ponies which were in a spacious enclosed area. Orchid stood within and, while still dressed in her maid's uniform, she had make-up on her face resembling stitches. Another thing that was in the enclosed area, was a wispy holographic projection of a horse and a headless man sitting on top with a pumpkin tucked under his arm, galloping around the enclosure. The ponies' saddles were all decorated to look worn and old with fake spider webs. As the 2 minutes were over, the children riding on the horses got up and exited before Orchid opened up the gate to allow more people in. On a haystack on the way out was a large bowl containing candy.

Stella's Houses of Horrors

Stella sat in front of two buildings owned by Orchid's employer, guiding people in. She was wearing a torn-up looking lab coat with blood stains on it. On her face, a fake scar ran from the center of her hairline to her nose, tracing around it then heading to the left. The area around her left eye was painted with greenish color and her eye had a bright red contact lens. There were two signs indicating that the home to the right was the 'NORMAL SPOOKY EXPERIENCE' while the home to the left was the 'VIRTUAL REALITY SPOOKY EXPERIENCE'. A number of lightweight Prometheus headsets were charging by a table next to her, mounted on fake brains in jars. Screams came from both houses, the normal experience was due to holographic ghosts along with the Myoko sisters dressed up, among other jumpscares while the ones coming from the virtual reality experience were far more frequent. The houses both exited out into a common point in which Jonathan Vera was handing out candy and ensuring that headsets were returned.

Abigail's Witchcraft Games

Ophelia wore a black and white dress with black high heels and a witch hat at her station, containing a number of games to earn prizes. These include:
On another small table was a large bowl of candy.

Apple-Bobbing with Camellia

Next to Ophelia was Camellia wearing a similar costume and furthering the witchcraft aesthetics with a row of 5 cauldrons, all of them with fake fire under. Each contained lukewarm water lit by lights on the bottom, all of them a different color. Children who went to the booth were bobbing for apples from the cauldrons.

She also had a small table was a large bowl of candy.

Pumpkin-Carving with Strelka

Strelka sat at the table dressed in her Beacon uniform while supervising and teaching children how to carve pumpkins. When they finished, she would let them choose what color lamp they wanted inside. Around her were already jack o' lanterns from when Ophelia had been training her for this station, shaped like different creatures of Grimm to a rather extraordinary level of detail. Also on the table was a large bowl of candy.

Astrid's Ghostly Cakewalk

Astrid, dressed as a pirate captain with vampire fangs sat in a folding chair next to a table with a multitude of Halloween-themed cakes and pies made by Marigold along with a large bowl of candy. In front of her was an area with a ring of 20 circles drawn onto the concrete with chalk, each with a number on it. There was a speaker connected to her scroll music player. Participants would each stand on one of the circles, and then the music would start. When Astrid stops the music, a number is drawn from a box, and the person standing on the circle with that number would get to pick a cake to keep. All participants would be able to grab a handful of candy from the bowl.

Kelly was about to head for Marigold's Spooky Stand because her nose lead her to it, she felt a tug and and almost went to light herself on fire when she heard the howl. A kid...
She turned her head around and looked the culprit. In her opinion, looks like a Beowulf plushie and nothing more. She smirks before she lights her mouth and cat ears on fire and green flames bellowed out in a creepy eerie fashion while going into a scary raspy voice.
"Oh a Beowulf~ I was getting hungry," She cackles as the flames licked the air, like a hungry monster.

As events unfolded around him a man in black robes was slithering his way through the crowd not unlike a serpent. Setting his sights on a man dressed as the dread pirate Roberts the robed figure slowly made his way towards the man. A smile twisting his unsettling features as his emerald eyes settled in a predatory manner on the man's back. With a book that appeared bound in flesh in his hand the man approached extending a skeletal hand to reach his shoulder. His ghoulish half decayed face however was proven to be nothing but make up when he spoke however.  "Mr. Rosenrot?"

Maximo stared up at the woman through the eyes of his costume, still holding onto her tail, which he he assumed was part of her costume. He wasn't sure just what she was supposed to be, but he knew he liked it. "WHOA! YOU CATCH ON FIRE TOO!? WILL YOU BE MY GIRLFRIEND?" he shouted, his volume mercifully cut in half by the cloth between him and the rest of the world.

"Oh, good evening Mr. Russet. I trust you are well? Looking for my nephew, I presume...so am I, in fact." Siegfried replied, bowing in greeting along with his wife. A necromancer, how droll! He must show Melinda, she would put up such a fuss over how unpleasant the young man looked.

"Yes, we have had no luck in finding him. He was to meet us here after stopping by our home to pick up something for the night." Winnifred added, admiring the boy's handiwork. "Were you trying to emulate anyone in particular or just a run of the mill dark wizard?" she asked, a girlish smile flickering across her face as she put a hand to her lips.

Marianne, Melinda, and Fiona were busy watching Merrydee enjoy herself on one of Orchid's ponies. All four of them were in matching jack o' lantern dresses, all sewn by Melinda of course. Each had a little green sprout of a hat to top off their outfit, and a unique face on their high-waisted skirts. The bodice was simple, to the neckline, and sleeveless, while matched with a black netted shrug. Merrydee squealed in mock fright every time the Headless Horseman swept past her, waving her arms while the patient mount beneath her stayed steady. Her smiling, baby-faced pumpkin sported only single tooth and wide, happy eyes. Fiona, her red hair tucked up underneath her hat in a bun, whooped encouragements from over the fence as her pumpkin's wide, devilish grin flapped up and down.

"Suppose the ghastly laddie there takes one of us for his head instead of the one's he's got, eh?" she chortled, ribbing Melinda, who tittered into her hands. The bashful face of her pumpkin seemed to agree. Marianne just watched calmly, taking in the scene all around her with her classic pattern pumpkin as she leaned on the fence, her chin in her hands.

Seeing that her little scare did not work and instead gain the attention of the kid, who still refuses to let go, she sighs before shaking her head in disapproval. She also moved her tail in hopes the kid would let go because its a real one.

Fallow sighed as he heard what Siegfried and Winnifred told him and shrugged.  "Him and my other teammates. Though i expect Kushii will be delayed or simply refuse to come depending on where he thinks to look."  An amused smile appeared on Fallow's face as he recalled the practical joke he had played on his foppish teammate. Hiding the boy's costume in between the mattress and mattress cover of his bed in the dorm room and replacing it with one of those sexy devil costumes women seemed to like wearing though Fallow never really saw the appeal.  "I got the idea from a book I've been reading about a man who could use his aura to bring back the dead. Though admittedly i am paraphrasing his appearance slightly."

Maximo kept right on holding the woman's tail, wow that was so cool she had a tail, and not a small one like Marlon's friend either. This one was nice and ropy. He stared up at her through his plastic eyeholes, waiting patiently for an answer.

Winnifred laughed, a sound like glass windchimes that bubbled out of nowhere and vanished as mysteriously. Her nephew had already related some of the back-and-forth between Mr. Russet and the rest of his team, and it was all too amusing to her. "With any luck he will have himself a laugh over whatever you have done to him, should he decide to be a good sport."

Siegfried nodded thoughtfully. "Ah yes, I think I possess that novel, though I cannot recall the name, somewhere in my study. I had been meaning to reread a few choice excerpts this week to put myself better in the spirit of the season, but the Grimm have been too numerous as it were."

Kelly ran thoughts through her brain, think of excuses of how to get rid of the kid and enjoy a nice apple pop. If lightbulbs appearing above people's heads was a real thing, it would happening to Kelly right now.
"Hey kid, where is your parents? You might want their approval if you want a girlfriend right?" Kelly had the gut feeling she would be regretting it.

Fallow gave a polite nod to Winnifred. "time will tell." before turning his attention back to Siegfried. "I understand. There has been a lot happeninv recently." [/color] He then noticed a small Beowolf harassing some woman kn the street. "oh dear. Is that Maximo?"

Winnifred jumped a good foot into the air, and was over by her adopted child's side in less than two shakes of a lamb's tail. "Maximo Murk! You let go of the nice young lady's tail right this instant!" A quick swat on the rump, padded as it was, was not so much a punishment as it was a warning, and had the desired effect.

"But Aunt Winnie, she's my girlfriend!"

"All the more reason to know when to keep your hands to yourself, young man!" she scolded, tugging him firmly back around behind her skirts, where he was less likely to make a second grab for the tail. "Do forgive his behavior, Miss, I am terribly sorry." Fortunately, years of practiced social graces kept her from showing just what she thought of the young lady's attire. Really, had she no shame?

Siegfried held one hand to his forehead. "Oh dear. He has done it again. Why is it always the faunus women? I would most assuredly like to know..."

Kelly sighed in great relief when Maximo lets go of her tail, if anything she might have clawed that mask off if he were to have pulled, it was like a trigger reaction she can not really control.
The woman, who she presumes is the mother, she wanted to thank for at least having the child let go when she realized.
"Winnie? As in Winnifred? And Siegfried? Wow, such an honor, um... Sorry about the attire," Kelly brushed her hair aside as she recognized the two now that she could see past their costume. "You don't have to aplogize ma'am, I mean its enough that at least Maximo did not pull my tail or else um let's say... He would end up looking real grim. It's a trigger reflex."

Fluores hummed happily to herself as she waded through the crowded lanes between stands, giggling slightly as people moved to get out of her way. She'd been working on her costume for a few weeks now, barely getting the codes written in time for the big night. She had to admit it was a little uncomfortable to walk on all fours for the moment, but if need be she could stand. Right now she was happy to be showing off her work.

Through the  thoroughfare plodded along a large alpha beowulf, the happy little sounds coming from Fluores being converted into growls and snarls, the beasts large snout snuffling as it quickly followed the head of the girl moving inside of it, vaguely visible through the hard light's transparency. It would have been scary had it not had such a...vibrant color scheme. She had colored the pelt of the beast a bright orange color, looking much like a shade you'd find on sweets, the mask a bright green with black markings. She'd been looking for her teammates food stand, but she wasn't particularly in any hurry, enjoying looking at the assortment of costumes people had gotten for the event. A little too closely for somes taste, not noticing her till they turned to face the maw of a large beowulf, if one that was somewhat festively colored.

"Well then I am glad he was able to control himself. Partially." Winnifred smiled, and gave an elegant curtsy. "The very same, and a good eye you have. I would not expect to be so easily recognized on the street, or of enough importance to be worth recognizing, but you seem to have heard of us. Or at least, my good husband. Hunters do capture the public eye, Miss...?" she finished, leaving the question open in hopes of uncovering a name.

Maximo took full advantage of the lack of attention and vanished, only to reappear directly in front of the orange Beaowulf Alpha, howling his little lungs out and hopping up and down. This was so cool!

Siegfried smiled, and clapped lightly at the display. "Quite an accurate facsimile, aside from the color, wouldn't you aree, Mr. Russet, bravo indeed!"

"Kelly, Kelly Green. Third year Huntress in training at Beacon Academy," Kelly smiled as she spoke in a more well mannered tone, she had to at least be a bit more respectful of the people she meet, especially of someone of their status. "Well to be more specifc I know of you two from a book in Beacon library called 'Modern Day Hunters and Huntresses Vol 5', almost every major accomplishment is recorded down for the sake of every students interest in hunters and huntresses these days. Also I have quite the eye, very useful for shooting things dead." Kelly brushed her hair aside before noticing a certain scent has gone weak, as much as she would like to inform Winniferd Maximo is gone again, she was more glad to have him gone.

"Hmm, I wonder if I look decent". Ismael looks down at himself straightening out his outfit: A white shirt under a button up jacket with gold seams and silver buttons and cuffs, white pants, shoes, and gloves to match, a blue contact on his left eye, cosmetic makeup to cover up his scar over his left eye and define his jawline, and a jet black wavy long haired wig to complete the outfit. Ismael wanted to try something new and thought a changed look would be fun. Even though he was told to act some what different, but not too over the top, he took on a whole new persona and practiced becoming his character to where he feels he is the character. Ismael starts to walk with a bit of swagger he never used, stood up straight and authoritative, and he did his best to give off a feeling that he held class. He was mentally laughing as felt like he has became a new person through such seemingly easy changes.

Ismael just walked around taking in the sights and acted as if he was from Atlas, and just moved to Vale. He felt as though he was doing the wrong thing and lying to people who ask, but for him to stay believable he was going to have to lie. Ismael was having some good fun just taking in the sights, but started to get hungry, so to put his acting to the ultimate test he has decided to go up to Marigold's stand.

As Ismael walked closer he felt his heart pound as he looked closer at Marigold's outfit, it was pretty cute, and...did...she copy my eyes? He wondered this as he thought for a moment, but no matter he had to push past that. He asked in a soft and smooth voice with a hint of curiosity, "Hello mad'am, may I ask what you are selling?".

Fluores broke into laughter as she saw the small beowulf let loose in front of her, the sounds coming out as gruff huffs. She had to admit, the pint sized Grimm wannabe was adorable, a giant smile plastered on her face as she crouched down, glowing bright orange eyes looking int the mask holes of the boys own.

"Well well well, what's a little pup doing out here, so far from the forest," she said, a deep gravely voice emitting from the costume, "You must be careful here, there's all sorts of dangerous hunters and huntresses out here, looking to scoop up such a fierce looking grimm," she said, standing back up as she offered a paw nearly the size of the boys head to him, "Perhaps we best find your pack hmmm, now help me call them pup," she said, before throwing her head back, a hauntingly realistic howl piercing out as she watched the crowd, a few of the onlookers laughing at their display, though she couldn't seem to find anyone looking for him yet.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Green." She became thoughtful for a moment. "A book on modern Huntsmen and Huntresses...how peculiar. I can understand my husband being included, his reputation is indeed widespread, but myself..." her brow furrowed and her delicate lips pursed, "Why, I have no martial skills to speak of. I only know how to shield myself with aura as a result of being brought up in a dangerous region far beyond the safety of the Kingdoms."Tell me, what picture of me did they use?"

Siegfried politely ignored the fact that Mr. Russet had been about to draw a weapon on a non-existent threat, and simply walked up to claim his nephew and introduce himself to the...young woman in the Beowulf costume. A quick aural reading had been enough to determine that much. The boy was clearly ecstatic, jerking the costume's paw all around as he hopped up and down with his efforts to make the finely crafted sound coming from his new friend.

"I see you have won my nephews approval, Miss. A hard task indeed, but with a disguise so honed as this, I am unsurprised by your success." he said, bowing as he finished his approach. "Siegfried Rosenrot, at your service, or perhaps the Dread Pirate Roberts, for the night, Miss Alpha."

Fluores looked up from the small Grimm to see the man that was apparently the uncle of the little beast, the head of the Beowulf dispersing enough that her own head now poked through the neck, revealing her face, ears twitching back and forth in excitement, "Thanks, it took a bit of doing to get it all moving properly, but now that I've got the approval of the highest authority," she said in her own voice, giggling as she lifted the paw currently grappled by the smaller canine, bringing the small boy off the ground, "I must say it's quite the honor," she told him before turning to look at Maximo, the Beowulf head once more enveloping her, the thick muzzle inches from the fearsome tyke, "Quite the pair I must say," the deep growling voice returning, "a fierce cub and a terrible dread pirate, I'm sure all of Beacon shall quiver before you," she said before movement caught her eye, a zombie looking fellow apparently having been surprised by her costume. Head cocked to the side for a moment before figuring out the problem, she  looked suspiciously around her before bringing the paw not currently under siege up to her face as though sharing a secret between the two, "Don't worry, I'm not really a Grimm, I don't think the real ones are orange..." she said, pausing for a moment in thought before continuing, "at least none of the ones I've heard about anyways." From anyone else it may have sounded condescending, but there was little but sincerity to be detected in her voice."

Fallow couldn't help but chuckle at the comment the orange beowolf made even if he was being mocked.  "I've heard of a way they could. Just an urban myth though.
Title: Re: Ghastly Business: All Hallow's Eve (Open)

Siegfried laughed, "Oh, I have no interest in making anyone tremble." No, he had done quite enough of that to last him a lifetime. "As for that urban legend, I do not believe I have heard it. But perhaps you can enlighten us, then. This ghastly gentleman here is Mr. Fallow Russet, a teammate of my nephew, Mr. Marlon Murk. It is possible you have met since it appears you also attend Beacon, Miss..." he explained, gesturing to the man he was introducing while he waited on the young lady to state her name.

Maximo, meanwhile, had gone silent and begun peering intently into the darkness of the nearby small park behind the pony ride enclosure, his body completely still, though he kept his paw in the costumed woman's.
