Title: Cobalt Skies Among Blood-Soaked Grounds [Team CBLT][CLOSED - Initiation]
Post by: jjb2158 on December 26, 2016, 08:19:12 PM
It was a clear, crisp winter morning at Beacon Academy. Here and there, a few students made their way to class through the cold, their coats being the only thing keeping the cold at bay. Making his way through the hustle and bustle, Oberon walked towards the Airship Hangar. Nodding here and there to the students as he passed them, he pulled out his Scroll to look at the time as his fur-lined coat kept him warm. Thirty minutes early...not bad. Would much rather be working in the warm forge right now though he thought with a smile. Putting his Scroll away, he pulled out his canteen and drank some of the warm coffee inside.

Turning the corner, Oberon caught sight of the Hangar and continued his brisk walk to it. Upon reaching it and not seeing any of the students there yet. he made his way to the Airship that was waiting there. Catching sight of the pilot, Oberon nodded slightly and shook the man's hand. "Top of the morning to ya" he said giving it a firm shake. "The others will be here shortly. Once they arrive, we can move out."

As the pilot made his way back into the Airship, Oberon proceeded by taking a cigar out. Cutting the tip off, he lit the cigar and took a few puffs from it. With the cigar lit, he pulled out his Scroll and began to look over the team he would be taking out. "Team Cobalt, huh?" he murmured as he went over each team member. "Camelia Sol, Bianca Li, Theodore Williams and Blanc Valiere" he said quietly. Looking over their combat results as well as their grades and not seeing anything noteworthy or troublesome, he put his Scroll away and leaned against the Airship. Taking a puff from his cigar, he let the smoke warm him up briefly before letting it out. Well, the faster we can get this mission done, the faster we can get back here he thought as he closed his eyes. By his estimation, the mission should take no longer than a day, allowing them to get back to the Academy by late afternoon. Let's just hope nothing crazy happens while we're out he thought, a smile creasing his grizzled face as he opened his eyes and continued to wait for the others to arrive.

Camelia was walking towards the hangar, her armor on top of her coat. She'd made sure that some locks of hair covered her ears to keep the cold at bay.

5 minutes early. Right on cue.

She walked into the hangar, enjoying the ever-so-slightly warmer air on her face. Spotting the vehicle she'd been assigned, along with the teacher who had done so, she bifurcated towards said airship. Upon passing by professor Falcov and the pilot, she nodded a hello - accompanied by a bright smile - to both. She also said a nice, quiet "Hello, professor Falcov!" to the person not currently going through a pre-flight checklist and continued a bit further before turning around, taking a wide stance and crossing her arms to wait for the remainder of the party. Why just a bit further, though? Well this way, she'd be able to look at everyone easily, as they'd all be in her field of vision.

Blanc made her way towards Beacon Academy's Hangar where she would be supposed to meet the rest of the people that she was going to travel with during the mission she was assigned to. Whenever the chilly winter breeze was blowing she couldn't help but shiver as her clothes weren't providing enough protection against the cold. Should of brought something warmer... Blanc thought as she fastened her pace.
As she arrived in front of the Hangar she quickly pulled out her Scroll and checked the time.

4 minutes early.

Blanc hurried into the Hangar and sighed in relief when she felt the pleasantly warm air on her cold skin. As she was walking towards what looked like the airship she was assigned to she noticed that she was the 4th one to arrive. She recognised Professor Falcov and she could tell that the other person in the vehicle was the pilot but she didn't recall seeing the girl before who was standing a bit further away with a quite confident stance. She walked up to the professor and greeted him with a hushed "Good morning Professor Falcov." and leaned against the airship.

Bianca's ears were cold. She was also heading towards her first mission as a Beacon student, which would probably be important because of first impressions and all of that, but that was meh. Yes, she was wearing her cloak, something she didn't do very often on missions and shit involving combat, but if Bianca hadn't worn it then the rest of her would be cold too. Yes, her cloak had a hood, and no it wasn't up at the moment. She personally liked the crisp feeling of winter air on her face. Maybe her Vacuan background would suggest otherwise but she did. So she dealt with it. Bianca didn't own any earmuffs anyway and all of her hair was already pulled back into a thick French braid.

Checking her scroll Bianca could see that she only had a few minutes to the set time. Knowing this she finished the rest of the hot apple cider and threw the foam cup into a trash can nearby before quickening her pace towards the Hangar. All about impressions and being late wouldn't make a very good one now would it? She found herself right behind some girl with blue hair and not enough winter clothing. By the looks of it they were headed towards the same place and later she would find out that they were headed towards the same aircraft as well.

Entering the Hangar and still right behind the aforementioned girl, Bianca let a breath out at the slightly warmer air compared to the rest of the place. She might've liked the cold but that didn't mean that she was any used to it. Ahead she could see the Beacon professor Oberon Falcov leaning against the airship that she'd been assigned to, and Blue walking up to greet him. Still hanging back it seemed like she was the fifth to arrive, after Professor Falcov, Blue, some girl with very nice assets and the pilot. Seeing nothing too noteworthy Bianca continued to her destination, nodding to the other two girls and saying, "Good morning Professor," to-well, that should be obvious. Also taking a spot against the airship, Bianca spent the little time she had to quickly assess the other two.

Before Teddy left the apartment, he triple checked his bag. 'There's something missing in here I know it.' he thought, running down the checklist. Water, check. First Aid kit, check. Spare ammo, check. Rope, check. 'Crap. I need my knife.' he thought, hurriedly walking over to the closet to grab his camping knife.

"Teddy, if you don't keep that racket down, the grimm are gonna be the least of your problems." Mac groaned from his bedroom. Teddy just slipped on his coat and backpack, shaking his head. "Love ya too, uncle Mac." Teddy said, heading out the front door.

Teddy arrived at the airship just a minute before the deadline. He took off his hood as he stepped closer, finally seeing the three girls and professor. At this point, his mind hit a snag. 'Wait...he's the professor we were supposed to meet. That means my team is...OhGodNoWhy.' Teddy thought, the fear of god striking his heart when he found out that he would essentially be forced to interact with the opposite gender, as they composed the rest of his team. He opened his mouth briefly to attempt to say hello to the professor, but he could not seem to manage the whole talking thing with where his mind was at. He just ended up standing there, fiddling with his thumbs and keeping his head down.

Watching each student walk up to the Airship, Oberon nodded his head and said his good mornings to each of them. With Theodore being the last one to arrive, Oberon moved away from where he was leaning to stand before the four students. "Good! Now that everyone is here, we can begin" he said, his gruff voice echoing slightly through the empty air. "As you may all know, my name is Professor Oberon Falcov. You may call me Professor Oberon, Profesor Falcov, or Professor. Now that I've gotten my introduction out of the way, how about we go ahead and start our mission? I will give you your debriefing on our way to the location. You may also go ahead and introduce yourselves to each other since you have each been chosen to work together as a team for this mission."

With that said, Oberon boarded the airship. Walking over to where the pilot sat, he spoke briefly to let him know that they were ready to board and set off. As the engines were started, Oberon took a seat in and awaited the others to join him before they took off to their location.

OOC: Sorry for the short post. Been busy and haven't had much time to do a well detailed post. I'll have a better one for my next post.

After having listened to her teacher's brief instructions, Camelia uncrossed her arms and walked forward a bit, keeping herself turned towards the other students. Socialize? Don't mind if I do! "Hello everyone! I'm Camelia Sol. I've lived in Vale all my life. I'm mostly an all-around close range fighter, and my semblance is gravity manipulation. I'm looking forward to working all!"

Add to that super-cheery tone a large, honest smile and you had a picture of Camelia at that moment. She was somewhat ecstatic to have the others present themselves.

Blanc paid close attention to the teacher's little speech while still leaning against the airship. After Professor Falcov finished talking the girl with the rather confident look, who later said her name was Camelia, stepped forward and introduced herself with great enthusiasm. "Gravity manipulation? That sounds interesting." Blanc thought. "Hi... I'm Blanc Valiere. I'm also a close ranged fighter... She said with a rather hushed voice, rather, that was her usual voice. This was all she managed to say as Blanc wasn't really good at introductions in the first place.

So. The last member of her team was a guy. Who was just... twiddling his thumbs. Was he going to just stand there? He did open his mouth to say something, but that didn't go anywhere. Bianca could almost laugh at the poor dude, but she didn't really want to be an asshole to someone who was clearly either uncomfortable, nervous, or shy. Hmm, the professor was starting to talk anyway.

She listened closely to him as he spoke, though still studying the currently nameless guy through narrowed eyes. Part of it was because she was a little suspicious. Playing quiet and meek could mean that the person beneath was much, much different, and in a bad way. And the other part was that if he really was a little on-edge, it'd be fun to watch him squirm.

Bianca also listened as the first two to arrive introduced themselves as Camelia and Blanc, both apparently close-range fighters and the overly peppy, annoying one that was apparently taking control of the whole situation from that stance and that position, could do some gravity manipulating shit. Great, please, show us all of the aces up your sleeve. Maybe she should be next. Twiddles didn't seem to be the type to jump at socialization. "Bianca. I fight close range too and my semblance is seeing in the dark, even if I'm not a Faunus. Kind of useless knowing there are nightvision goggles and shit, but comes in handy where I come from. That'd be Vacuo by the way, and knowing Vacuo, you can know that I do my best against people." Here, she inserted a smile just to unnerve the others. It wasn't creepy or wicked, simply a smile. "Especially if I don't have to restrain myself." The former Vacuan made sure not to mention absolutely everything she had, namely her gun, her actual semblance, and her ability to stay hidden when needed. You never knew...

Teddy listened attentively to the professor's speech, desperate to get his mind off of his current situation. As he boarded the airship, he listened to each of his teammates introduce themselves closely, although his body language would not tell you that. He was seemingly petrified, the single part of his body that seemed to be moving was his index finger, which tapped against the corresponding knuckle on his other hand rapidly, like a rabbit thumping its leg against the ground before it runs off. He felt the solid stare of one of his new teammates the whole time, not daring to reciprocate the eye contact in fear that his heart would stop beating on the spot.

A few seconds of silence was all that it took to get Teddy a bit back to the situation at hand. He needed to introduce himself. He opened his mouth briefly, snapping it back shut when he realized he didn't know what to say. "Um...I-I'm T-Teddy. I...uh...I-I'm a close-range fighter as well." he said, scratching the back of his hand with increasing pace as he spoke to where it seemed he would claw his own skin off. The two ears on top of his head jolted upward as he realized he was doing so, before they laid flat on his head. He just put his head down, trying to avoid eye contact and briefly considering sprinting away and transferring schools.

Putting out his cigar so as to not fill the seating area with smoke, Oberon placed the half-finished cigar in his coat pocket. With each student entering the Airship, the pilot started the ignition and took off. Listening to each of the students give their introduction, Oberon also took his assessment of each student, noting their fighting capabilities as well as their personalities. Raising his eyebrow slightly at Bianca's intro and then trying to suppress his amusement as Teddy gave his introduction, Oberon couldn't help but find this newly formed team to be rather amusing. It'll be amusing to see how well Bianca and Camelia's personality get along, not to mention Teddy and Blanc seem to be a bit more passive and shy... he thought as they completed their intros. "With all that out of the way, how about I debrief each of you now?"

Looking at each student, Oberon met each of their gazes with a hardened stare with his brown eyes. "Today's mission is simple: We've received word that a small coastal village that helps provide Vale with fish and other commodities was attacked by a group of bandits. After looting mostly everything from the village and killing off all of the fighters, the bandits left the remaining villagers to die from either lack of food or from a Grimm attack. Your mission today is to provide protection for the villagers as they attempt to rebuild and restock their food supplies. There is a battalion of guardsmen that are coming from the neighboring villages that will take over the protection, but they won't arrive until tomorrow at noon. Therefore, you will protect the village until they arrive. You're mission is accomplished when the battalion arrives and the village is still in tact. You fail if the village is destroyed."

Letting his words sink in for a moment, Oberon smirked slightly at the students. "Do not feel like you are alone in this. The village has a few fighters that survived that will help you and I will also be there to provide assistance should things go bad." Clenching his fists, which caused his knuckles to crack in rapid succession, he in turned cracked his neck. "Lastly, there has been mentioned that there is a large pack of Grimm nearby that may come in to finish the job. Not only that, the bandits could come back to finish the job. Now, with all of that, does anyone have any questions?" Looking at each student, Oberon arched an eyebrow at them as he awaited their replies.

After carefully listening to the Professor's briefing, Camelia raised her right hand and asked her questions - for there were several.

"Are there any precisions available? For example, how many fighters are garrisoned there at the moment, where the Grimm pack is coming from relative to the village, about how large the village is, neighboring environment and terrain, number of people to defend, things like that?"

After taking a seat near the window Blanc turned all her attention at Prof. Falcov and listened carefully to what he said, soaking in as much as possible. After he finished his briefing and asked if there were any questions Blanc shook her head and quietly said "No, Sir." as it seemed like Camelia already asked every question she wanted answers to.

Blanc glanced at each one of her team member, taking a bit longer on Teddy. While still listening to the conversation, she proceeded to look out of the window.

Looks like it was a whole team of close-ranged fighters. Hopefully their styles weren't too different, as close-ranged covered a variety of different types. Plus, maybe someone else had a ranged option too. Or some kind of semblance that could work. Judging by the lack of eyebrow raising at Camelia's intro, she was out.

Bianca took a seat on the aircraft next to the Blanc girl, who seemed to be the best choice and was coincidentally the only one sitting as well. In the meanwhile she payed close attention to the professor's briefing on their upcoming mission, nodding when appropriate and meeting his gaze confidently. Protecting a village, didn't seem too bad, though she still felt that it was a little unfair for the village's safety to be in the balance. What, they couldn't send actual huntsmen and huntresses that'd already graduated to secure the safety? Or maybe that was the point of it, to ensure that they had a reason to succeed. Better than not sending anyone at all, she supposed.

As the professor asked if anyone had any qualms or questions, Bianca stayed silent at first to listen to what others wanted to say. Looked like dear old Camelia was just trying to push that 'perfect' image, wasn't she? They were smart questions, she just hated how much the girl just took control of everything. "I have a question," she announced as soon as Blanc stopped talking. "Say, we're engaging in combat with the bandits, who've returned to finish the job. Do we fight to kill or fight to disable? Or is killing allowed but not advised? Also, do you know which bandits these are? Some of them are prominent and have distinctive styles, or have more power or strength compared to others." Some wanted her head. Some were powerful enough that they could try getting their revenge. "Lastly, do we know exactly what kinds of Grimm the pack has? I mean, I think everyone would agree that a pack of Beowolves isn't as bad as one with a shitload of ursae or something. Or Nevermores, I hate those fuckers."

Teddy briefly raised his hand, finding himself getting talked over by Camelia. He slowly lowered his hand and his head fell back down, with him deciding it was best to just sit down. He moved as far away from Bianca as he could manage on the ship, sitting with his backpack on his lap. From over it, the top of his head poked out, his eyes looking through the space created by the handle on top of the bag. He looked over at Bianca, with the look of a child staring at the devil himself. He hugged his bag close, in the vain hope that it would protect him from the seemingly aggressive woman. He tried to pay attention to the questions asked, but he never took his eyes off Bianca, in the paranoid fear that she would suddenly charge him.

Listening as a few concerns and questions were raised, Oberon pulled out his canteen and took a sip of the still hot coffee within. Once the talking was done, he cleared his voice before speaking. "Some very good questions to ask. Now, where to begin..." he said, half talking to himself. "From what the report said, there are roughly five to ten guards remaining. Enough to watch the perimeter, but not enough to guard it from an attack. As for the village, you're looking at roughly a hundred people, give or take. The village itself has the ocean to the west, a heavily dense forest to the east, and open roads to the north and south.

Taking another sip from his canteen as he glanced over at Camelia and then towards Bianca. "As for the pack of Grimm, not much was reported on it other than the fact that there was a nearby pack. My guess would be to expect a lot of Beowolves and maybe a few Ursas as well. As I always tell those in my class: hope for the best, but expect the worst."

"Lastly, in regards to the group of bandits: the townspeople couldn't catch anything that would indicate that it was one of the more well known bandit groups nor was there any indication that it was the works of the White Fang. That being said, we can only deduce that it is just a smaller group of bandits that were fortunate to catch the town off guard. There is an extremely small chance that they will return, but should you encounter the group of bandits, then you are to fall back and wait for reinforcements." Giving each student a smile, Oberon hoped that it would be enough to reassure them. "Remember, though your objective is to protect the village, you must also protect each other. No point in this mission if you all end up dying, right?" he remarked with a slight smirk. "Don't worry though, my mission here today is to make sure that none of you end up dying. You can rest assure that I intend on making sure of that. Now, any other questions?" he asked as he looked out of the window. "We should be arriving to our destination within an hour or so."

OOC: I'll probably do a time jump to when we land after a few posts if you guys are alright with it? Just let me know.

(I'm okay with it.)

Camelia leaned back in her seat - at least, as far as her equipment allowed. Sure, having her 3 - or 2, depending on how you look at it - always on hand was incredibly handy, but it did have the disadvantage of not allowing proper lumbar support. Oh well.

Never mind that, though; Camelia was already trying to think up a strategy. She crossed her arms, trying to evaluate her options. If that many guards were enough to keep a good watch over the perimeter, then the settlement was small enough to allow somebody to quickly run from one side to the other, which meant the forces could be spread thinner and not really suffer from it.

The layout was somewhat good, as well. Ocean on one side - little risks coming from there, but worth keeping in check. The greatest danger was probably the forest. Depending on thickness and proximity, it may be difficult to plan for the enemy's advance. However, the roads offered little to hide with, making sentries far more efficient.

An asymmetrical spread of the remaining guards along the perimeter and people, interspersed with the students, would be for the best. Any group could ask for reinforcements verbally and still probably be heard. If the worst came to pass, regrouping the villagers and surrounding them would be a way to go. That way, nobody would get hurt - as long as enough fighters remain.

Camelia looked away from the floor, her eyes focusing on her teammates, ready to take in anything they had in mind. "Alright, I may have a plan, but first, what do you guys think? Any ideas?

Blanc shook her head to Camelia's question. It shouldn't be too hard to defend the village from a pack of Grimm that is mostly made up of Beowulfs, and the bandits might not even show up. "I am fine with anything really... I'll leave it up to you guys." She said after she shifted her eyes away from the window and at her teammates. I'm fine with anything as long as water isn't involved... Blanc thought. Having a fire based semblance while near water would make it really difficult to make any use of it in a fight. She wasn't feeling confident enough to tell them what her semblance was just yet either.

I am also okay with skipping ahead.

(I'm alright with it too)

Bianca listened to Professor Oberon as he filled the group in on their questions, stifling a laugh at Teddy's look in the meanwhile. The situation didn't seem too bad so far, knock on wood, especially the fact that it was just one of the smaller groups of bandits. The other stuff she only half-processed, strategizing and shit like that wasn't exactly her thing. She was the brawn and the shadows, not the brain or the leader. Seemed like the same couldn't be said for Camelia though. So considerate to take in the opinions of others.

"You just go ahead, Sugartits," Bianca drawled, not really caring that the professor was there as well. "I'm a Vacuan, remember? We don't really think before acting. Or really think at all..." A smirk materialized on her face to show that she was most definitely joking. "That being said, I won't hesitate to challenge you if I don't like something." To heighten the effect of her words, Bianca gave Camelia a patronizing look before turning her attention to her weapons. The gun was hidden by her tank, held tight by a strap on her waist that stood for a holster. Her knuckledusters hung loosely on her belt loops, partly covered by the length of her top. The tonfa were more prominently displayed, or at least they would be if she wasn't wearing her cloak. They hung from two holsters on her hips, from which Bianca took them out and brought them into sight, polishing them absentmindedly. In actuality though, she was using the excuse of looking at the shine to examine her teammates more, trying to sneak a look at their weapons.

Teddy relaxed a little as the focus seemed to be taken off of him for the time being. He took a second to think of the possible strategies, deciding that simple would probably be best. "Well...I think having people keep watch over the perimeter and being ready for an attack at all times would be the best in this situation. B-Butyouguyswouldknowbetterthanme..." he said, panicking slightly when he realized he drew attention to himself again. He went back to hiding behind his backpack, sticking to the adage 'if I can't see them, they can't see me'.

Listening intently to the others talk, Oberon turned his attention towards Camelia. "Go ahead and share your ideas, Camelia" he said gruffly. It'll be interesting to see what ideas they all come up with he thought, smiling slightly through his thick mustache.

((Up for a time jump whenever.))
After listening to everyone's replies, and very vividly thinking about making Bianca experience 6 times her own weight while staring at the aforementioned lass with a look that could've turned hell into a frozen wasteland, Camelia went ahead and exposed her plan.

"Alright, here's what I was thinking. If that many - 5 to 10 - guards are enough to keep a good watch over the perimeter, then the settlement's small enough to allow somebody to quickly run from one side to the other, so we can afford to spread ourselves out without jeopardizing everything. From what I know, even though every side is problematic, the worst is probably the forest side. Depending on its thickness and proximity to the settlement, it may be difficult to plan for the enemy's advance. The roads, however, offer little to hide with, so sentries will have a better time doing their job.

With all that in mind, I'd suggest an asymmetrical spread of the remaining guards along the perimeter and people, interspersed with the students, would be for the best. Any group could ask for reinforcements verbally and still be easily heard. If the worst came to pass, regrouping the villagers and surrounding them would be a way to go. That way, nobody would get hurt - as long as enough fighters remain.

So, whaddaya think?"

Blanc listened to Camelia's proposal and closed her eyes for a moment so she could vaguely visualise how the plan would look like. She opened her eyes after a brief pause and nodded. "I agree... It would be best to spread out and cover all sides from a potential attack... Sounds like a plan to me..." Blanc said with her usual neutral expression on her face. Camelia's plan was well thought out and Blanc had no issue with it whatsoever.

I'm also fine with a time jump whenever. I'll leave it up to you guys.

Challenge and bitch as she might, Bianca had to admit that she had absolutely no sense of strategy. Other people could do that, what she was good at was following orders and carrying out plans well. Oh, and pissing people off. Which she seemed to be succeeding at based on Camelia's frosty glare. In return, Bianca sent her a wolfish grin, melting it into a prideful smirk, and crossing her arms in success. Pair of tits didn't know what she was getting herself into. "Oh hey, look!" exclaimed Bianca in a falsely enthusiastic manner. "Got a brain, can't say I'm not surprised. Sounds fine. Just make sure that when the Grimm actually arrive, you've got a plan for that too. Can't spread your soldiers too thin when there's one focal point, can't focus all of your soldiers at one point when there are multiple points of entry." She then proceeded to wink at the armored girl, smirk still in place. "See? I've got a brain too."

Teddy's head only popped out slightly from his backpack. He moved to say something, but ended up simply nodding. 'Spread out across the perimeter, focus on the forest, stay within earshot.' he thought to himself, trying to etch the memory into his mind.

Teddy pulled his hammer out from behind him, resting it on his lap as they flew. He would disassemble the firing mechanism for the warhammer, inspecting it and putting it back together.

Nodding slightly as he listened to Camelia's plan, Oberon smiled slightly under his mustache. Not bad...not bad at all he thought as the others pitched in their opinions. "That is a decent plan young Camelia" Oberon said after the others. "Go ahead and do your plan, but remember this" he added, giving Camelia a calm stare. "Plans do not always carry out as we would like so be prepared to have a backup plan as well as another plan in case all hell breaks loose." Looking over at the pilot and then back at the team, he took a moment to look at the others. "Also, though the forest would be the perfect for an ambush, the roads will be just as dangerous if a swarm comes at the town. Even the best of plans can fall short under a swarm so be ready for anything." At that, Oberon leaned back as he awaited their arrival.

One Hour Later

Hearing the pilot yell that they had arrived, Oberon stood up and grabbed his things as they landed. As the back door opened, Oberon turned to face the team. "Well, shall we then?" he said with a smirk as he walked off the airship. Looking ahead of him, he saw the wooden walls of the town ahead of him. A few blackened spots on the wall as well as a few blown through areas indicated the fight with the bandits a few days prior. Despite all that, the village didn't look too damaged. A few dozen or so rooftops peaked out above the wall, with a few of them showing damage from explosions.

Walking up to the closed gate, a man popped his head up from behind the wall, a heavy assault rifle pointed directly at Oberon. "Halt! Identify yourself or we will open fire!" he yelled as two other men popped up and pointed their own weapons at the teacher. Holding his hands up, Oberon looked first at the two and then at the man. "I am Professor Oberon Falcov from Beacon Academy. I, along with a team of students, have been sent here to offer assistance and protection until reinforcements arrive." Looking behind at the students, he turned to give his attention back to the man. "I was informed that we are to report to the captain of the guard, Carmine Karalis. Would you please direct me to him?"

Still wary of the newcomers, the man continued to point his weapon at Oberon for a little longer before lowering it. "The man you're speaking to do be the one you're looking for" he said finally, gesturing with his head to the others who immediately disappeared. "I apologize for the precaution, but we've been on high alert ever since the attack." As the man spoke, the gate was slowly opened to to reveal the inside of the town. "Reinforcements are greatly appreciated" he said, holding his gun on his shoulder as he jumped down to greet Oberon, hand extended.

Taking hold of Carmine's hand, Oberon shook it firmly. "You can never be too cautious" he said as he turned to gesture the students to follow as Carmine led them into the town square.

Town layout. Just imagine a wooden wall surrounding it as well as a dense forest opposite of the ocean. It's the closest thing I could find that was acceptable. We are coming in through the west side (left side of the picture).

Camelia answered Bianca's sarcasm with some of her own, accompanied by a halfhearted, lop-sided grin. "Really? Funny, never would've guessed. Apparently, it's my turn to be shocked."

She then listened to her professor and nodded her assent before leaning back as far as possible, enjoying the flight while she still could. Her gaze alternated between looking at her teammates and out of the aircraft.

One hour later

Camelia disembarked after Oberon, following in his tracks and keeping an eye out, making sure to record her surroundings.

Blanc did a quick maintenance check on her weapons while she was listening in on the passive-aggressive conversation between Camelia and Bianca. When Prof. Falcov finished talking Blanc readjusted herself into a more comfortable position and proceeded to look out the window next to her for the rest of the journey.

One Hour Later

Blanc followed Professor Falcov and Camelia off the airship and looked around excitedly. She regretted her decision to not bring her book with her as she fell asleep after about 30 minutes and now she will finally be able to do something other than looking out a window for half an hour.

Bianca let out a huff of amusement as she smirked at Camelia’s rebuttal. This was going to be fun then, no matter how annoying the girl was and how angelic she pretended to be. Camelia’d better be one hell of a strategist with backup plans for days like Professor Oberon suggested though, because no way in hell was she going to fail this initiation. And if she was, it was going to be on her, not on someone else failing to pull their own weight. With this in mind, Bianca leaned back to take a quick nap. Energy and shit, right?

One Hour Later

As the professor departed with the two other girls following close behind, Bianca took a moment to stand and take a quick glance at the area, taking particular notice of what she could see of the town on the other side of the wooden gate. Wood. Tch, like that’d do anyone good. Didn’t look like it’d be anytime soon either, judging by the multiple sooty and non-existent spots on it. She kept a close watch as she followed the other three as well, not bothering to look back for the other team member. Bianca didn’t particularly care for him much, except for a little suspicion and pity. The townspeople on the other hand…

Over the remainder of the flight, Teddy slowly managed to calm down. He wanted to take the lead of his teammates and rest, but he was worked up to the point that sleep was never a possibility. So, he quadruple-checked his equipment and focused on breathing.

One Hour Later

Stepping off the ship, Teddy looked down the perimeter of the town, the wall looking like it has seen better days. He kept well away from the tall girl. 'Was Briana her name? Or was it Bianca? Either way, best not to get near her or talk to her.' he thought, holding his warhammer as he walked.

Following Carmine into the town, Oberon looked back to make sure the other students were following. "I'm glad that Beacon was able to send some help. We could definitely use extra hands to defend the town" Carmine said with a slight relief. "Though, I had hoped that they would've perhaps sent more...You sure these kids will be good enough?" he murmured loud enough for only Oberon to hear. Looking over to where the captain was walking, Oberon turned his gaze to keep looking forward. Pulling out a cigar, he lit it and took a puff from it, letting the smoke trail behind him to where the other students were. "You know Alban wouldn't send a team if he wasn't sure that they would be enough" he said quietly to the man next to him. "I understand your worries, but this team shows promise. And besides..." he said, a small smirk crossing his face as he looked over at the other man. "That's why Alban sent me to make sure everything runs smoothly" he remarked with a slight twinkle in his eyes. Getting a loud laugh out of Carmine, they continued to make their way through the town.

"You are right with that" Carmine remarked as he nodded to the townspeople they passed. Here and there, a few townspeople could be seen walking the street or poking their heads out of a window to see who the newcomers were. Haggard eyes and cheeks were clearly evident as the team walked by. However, mixed in with those looks was a glimmer of hope in the eyes that the townspeople seemed to exude as they watched the team pass. "I still remember the days being in Beacon myself" he added as they finally made it to the town center. With a small crowd slowly making their way to see what the commotion was about, Carmine turned to face Oberon and the others. "I guess I should get this out of the way, but welcome to our town. Perhaps you would like to introduce yourself and your team to the townspeople?" he asked.

Chuckling slightly, Oberon took another puff and let the smoke out into the open air before continuing. "Very well then" he said, looking at the townspeople. "My name is Professor Oberon Falcov and I am a teacher from Beacon Academy. As for this team, I will leave it to them to introduce themselves." he said simply, nodding towards each of the students.

As she walked behind the two adults, Camelia waved and smiled at whoever glanced at her - less to be friendly than reassuring.

When the men stopped, she assumed a position with a slightly wide stance, her hands joined behind her back. She still smiled and nodded at whoever stared, though.

After Professor Oberon introduced himself, Camelia did the same. "Camelia Sol, first year at Beacon, sir." The overall effect of the posture combined with her happy, nice tone along with an honest smile was quite bizarre.

As the group walked through the streets of the village Blanc couldn't help but feel uncomfortable as some of the villagers gazed at them curiously. She looked at Camelia, who was handling the stares of people way better than Blanc. "How can she be so confident?" she thought .

It was Blanc turn to introduce herself. "B-Blanc Valiere... first year at Beacon as well." she said with an awkward and rather forced smile. She was quite fidgety as she didn't like being in the spotlight.

Bianca kept her weapons at ready as she followed Oberon through the village. The villagers looked like they'd seen better days, but they didn't look all too worse for wear. She made sure to keep a strict and confident air about her as she walked through, though she threw in a few smug smiles, smirks, and winks in to lighten up the mood. She even took the time to ruffle the hair of a few little kids that didn't look to be more than seven years old, who Bianca thought were quite cute. You had to be friendly, had to show that huntsmen and huntresses were people, not machines. Tch, and that last kid still had the audacity to bit her finger. "Fucking-"

When the professor created an opening for the students to introduce themselves, Bianca straightened noticeably, keeping one hand on the hilt of her tonfa and the other tapping her leg absentmindedly, looking around at the townspeople. Cams looked weird and Blanc was a timid little wreck so it seemed that it'd have to be her who made the impression. "Bianca Li," she said, stepping forwards and boldly offering her hand Carmine. "First year at Beacon, Captain Karalis." While staying proper and all, Bianca relaxed her posture and offered her infamous smirk to the captain of the guard.

The idea of reassuring the people and making them feel protected was not lost to Teddy, but he had not the slightest idea on how to do so. He could try to be confident, but that would be a boldfaced lie. He could attempt to hide his emotions, but that would be disingenuous. He stuck to looking down the side streets, trying to get as good of an idea on the layout of the town as he could. This helped to disguise the fact that he was scared, at least a little. The faces in the crowd helped steel his resolve a little, but the fact that this would be his first true test never left his mind.

As the group stopped, Teddy stayed in the back while the rest of the group introduced themselves. As Bianca stepped forward, Teddy's cover from sight disappeared. He quickly straightened himself up, clearing his throat. "Um, Theodore Williams. First year close combat specialist." he said, bowing to the captain with his weapon in his arms.

OOC: Sorry! Real life has been busy and so I haven't had the mental capacity to come up with a new post.

Listening to each student give their introduction, Oberon glanced over at Carmine, who had a slight frown and furrow in his eyebrows. "Don't worry" he said quietly, not looking over at the captain. "They may be kids, but they'll get the job done" he added, shooting a glance at the captain who let out a soft sigh and nodded in acknowledgment. "Well then, now that our introductions are out of the way, how about you show the students around the town and where they will be stationed, captain?" he asked aloud as he folded his arms. Turning to face the students, Oberon shot them a small smirk behind the cigar in his mouth. "I'll be in the town hall so meet me there once the captain is done showing you the ropes" he said before turning to go to the tall building in the middle of the town.

Glowering slightly at being told what to do, Carmine raked a hand through his hair before turning to the remaining four. "Well, you heard the professor, I'll show you around so you can familiarize yourself with the town." Gesturing with his hand to follow him, he began to make his way through the town while the townspeople slowly dispersed and continued about their business.

*Note:* Go ahead and post as you follow the captain. The town is nothing special so just think of it as your everyday normal fishing town. If it bears any resemblance to anything, it'll be less modernized than Vale, but a little bit more than Menagerie. Most of the buildings are simple houses, but there is a barracks for the militia, a few shops, a small health clinic, a blacksmith, and the docks to the south with a handful of ships that weren't burned in the attack. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, but I want to leave this open for your guy's imagination (mostly because my brain is just too tired to really detail this out).

Raising an eyebrow at how magnificently the captain ignored Bianca's outstretched hand, Camelia proceeded to follow suit, continuing to take in all she saw as well as all she heard.

Blanc followed the captain and the rest of the group, making sure to soak in as much as possible from the view and to try and memorise the layout of the village. She was especially on the lookout for a building that showed any sign of it being a library. I wonder if there is a library in this village... I would like to have a look at what books they have. She thought.

That was not the reaction she was expecting. The bastard just ignored her! Narrowing her eyes, Bianca dropped her hand to the handle of her tonfa, following behind closely like Blanc and Camelia. She still was warm to all the children though. She liked kids, they were nice. When they weren't being brats. Seemed better against the background of the town. Signs of the recent attack definitely showed. Bianca couldn't help but feel sorry for the townspeople. Until she reminded herself that she grew up in Vacuo, and that hardships forged strength. Maybe some of the kids would become the hunters and huntresses of the next generation. "Chin up sweetheart," she said as she walked by a crying girl that didn't look to be more than 6, standing next to a woman. They were both wearing black and the woman was wearing a lace veil... "Think of it as just moving to a new house. Without whoever died." Okay, so maybe it wasn't the nicest thing to say. The girl responded by crying even harder. "Shit," muttered Bianca under her breath. Mentally groaning, she turned around and patted the crying girl on the head again. "I mean uh, in every crisis there's opportunity! Good ones!" Smiling not-so-believably, Bianca ran to catch up with the rest. Maybe she wouldn't talk to children anymore.

(Dude, it's been one day, chill the fuck out.)

Teddy was fine with following suit. It makes it easier to keep the attention off him. Sliding his weapon back into its holster on his back, he folded his hands at his waist and continued silently. The only time he strayed from looking ahead was when he noticed that he was not in the back of the group, seeing his new tall teammate making a child cry. 'She's really bad at the whole 'not being incredibly scary' thing' he thought, moving to the back of the group as soon as she returned.

"...And here is the barracks where our guards stay posted. You guys can store your things here as well as find a warm meal in the small mess hall inside." Running his hand through his hair, Carmine looked first at Oberon and then at the students. "You guys will be stationed at your posts later in the evening and are free to roam the village until then. So, with that, I have other business to attend. Professor, will you please follow me?" Turning his back to the others, Carmine began walking towards the town hall.

Looking first at Carmine and then at the four students, Oberon gave them a small smile. "Well, you heard the man. You're free to roam, but stay ready just in case. Use this time to get acquainted with the village people and learn your surroundings. I will meet up with you guys at sunset at the mess hall." Giving the students a nod, Oberon made his way to follow Carmine to what looked like the town hall.

Short post for me. You guys are free to roam around the village and interact with people or get to know each other further. If you don't feel like posting much during this time, then let me know and I will time jump the scene so we get further into the plot.

Blanc was really excited that there might be a library in the village which could have books she never even heard of and she almost suggested that they should look for it. She remembered that she wasn't here for fun, they needed to protect the village from danger. She sighed, kept quiet and decided that she will follow her team around the village.
As a response to Camelia's question, she shook her head.

Bianca nodded to the two as they left, saluting them jokingly as well.

"I think we should familiarize ourselves with the town," Bianca said in response to Camelia. "Maybe try to find some of those combat-capable people? Get to know them? Make sure they don't find us too annoying to save if our lives depend on them? You might have a hard time with that one Cams." Following her statement, Bianca smirked at Camelia, before returning to a neutral expression. "For real though, take a tour around the town, find the combat people. That's my opinion."

Teddy kept his head down for the most part, only looking at Camelia's gaze for a brief second before looking back to his shoes. "Well...um...we should probably do a check of supplies. You know, medicine and food for the townsfolk. Just so we know what we have available and where it is." he said, sticking his hands inside the center pocket of his hoodie.

Camelia listened to her teammates' opinions, where applicable. She briefly narrowed her eyes at Bianca when she poked her, although her idea was a good one. She turned to the shy bundle that was Teddy when he spoke as well, landing another good idea onto the field.

"Alright. Let's do all of that. I noticed a small clinic on the way, so perhaps the supplies are over there, or in the library since it's rather central. There's also some barracks further on, so if we wanna find off-shift combatants, that's our best bet. Let's split up: two of us handle the supplies, the others go see the fighters. When you're finished, meet up with the other half of the team, or wait at the library, whichever you fancy.

Bianca, wanna check out the people we'll be working with alongside me?", she asked without any afterthoughts.

Bianca made a few ambiguously affirmative motions regarding the plan that'd been made. So Miss Goody Two-Shoes wanted to be paired with her, hmm? Probably to try to smooth out the wrinkles, or really, wrinkle, singular. She seemed to be the only one who wasn't cooperating, but it was just that Bianca really did not like this girl. Camelia just seemed so good. So straight and narrow. So completely unlike her. If this team thing worked out, Bianca'd hate to she how she reacted to her past. This Camelia wasn't as good as she was on the outside, and she couldn't be as good as she seemed to want herself to be. But Camelia was leader. So she'd just have to stick it out. That of course, didn't mean that some snark wasn't allowed.

Skipping out on the cliche 'it's a plan' conclusion sentence that usually followed these types of things in the movies, Bianca simply started walking back the way they'd came, not-so-accidentally bumping into Teddy and smirking his way in the meanwhile. "You sure about that Cammie? How the hell do you know what's further on if we haven't been further on yet? And none of the buildings ahead look particularly indicative of a barracks. Sure, there are a few different ones, but who's to say they aren't other things? We saw the clinic back there, yeah, but wouldn't it be more logical for the barracks to be close by? To make transferal easier between the two, and if maybe the clinic, which houses the injured who aren't able to escape is attacked, it would be easier to defend." Here she turned around, fixing her gaze on Camelia. "Plus, are you assuming that only a small number got injured in the attack that obviously did a lot to damage the town?" she asked. "Yes, some in the clinic will be too injured to fight, but some may be in good or good enough shape to do so. I think they'd like to visit their friends and make sure they're doing okay too. We might find more fighters there, and if we don't find any in shape to fight, they may have crucial information. We may not have seen the barracks, yet, but I would bet that they're somewhere around the clinic. There was a cross-section nearby, so maybe it was on the side or hidden in the back. But what do I know? You're obviously the smart one here." In truth, her parents had trained her to be extra vigilant and aware of her surroundings. They were assassins and were training her to be one as well. If nothing, the media portrayed the strict  yet effective nature of training particularly well. Unfortunately she hadn't had a knack for battle strategy, not much, but otherwise, Bianca was no fool. To the other three in her team, Bianca asked, "So? Are you going to trust me on this one?"

Teddy's foot was right in front of a rock as Bianca bumped into him, causing him to stumble back a bit more than usual. Turning to look at Bianca with an annoyed look on his face, he was met with Bianca's tirade. He once again opened his mouth to try and speak, finding himself being talked over once again. He slowly lowered his head again, finding himself being talked down to. Finally, once Bianca's question was posed, he sprung back to life, finding his one opportunity to speak up. "Look, me and Bianca are going to go to the clinic. We'll check up on supplies and talk to the injured. You guys find the barracks. We'll meet outside the clinic when we're done. And you guys are gonna stop this whole being angry at each other thing. And, god willing, we're not gonna get killed out here. Okay? Okay. OhgodIjustsaidthat-" Teddy said, getting gradually faster as he went. He grew increasingly nervous as he kept talking, taking a step back as he saw everyone looking at him. Once he said the end of it, he smashed the last of his words together in one short breath, activating his semblance and taking off in a flash toward the clinic.

Camelia listened to Bianca, looking her in the eyes all the while. She did have some good points, but there were certain flaws in her reasoning she hadn't thought about.

And then Teddy ran away incredibly fast. "Well, guess that settles it. Catch up to him, will ya, Blanc?", she said lightheartedly before turning to face Bianca.

She took a breath before addressing the taller girl. "You had some good points. How do I know what's ahead? Well, to put it simply, I was staring at the village when the airship came in. There was a somewhat large building with a large yard where I could see figures going at it. I'd think that's the barracks, or as close to such a thing as there is around here.

Now, why wouldn't barracks be right besides the clinic? Simply put, comfort. The people who're injured should have some level of peace and quiet, not just a bunch of people sparring, yelling and generally being loud. Meanwhile, the screams of agony might be hard on the minds of the aforementioned fighters. Since the village is kinda small, it wouldn't take thirty seconds for literally every single one of them to be gathered at the clinic.

And yes, you're right, we may find more combatants at the clinic, which is why we could head there after going to the barracks, where there's probably more of them. You alright with that?" She was in serious mode right now.
