Title: 1st Year Semi-Finals: Zabar V Juno [Limited: 2/8]
Post by: Dr. Gustave on January 01, 2017, 08:07:47 PM
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WELCOME TO THE SEMI-FINALS!!" The crowd erupted into applause as Vulco grinned in his booth. "THE VYTAL TOURNEY IS ALMOST OVER, BUT DON'T FRET, THIS IS WHERE THINGS GET REEEEAAAAL INTERESTING!" The crowd erupted into another ceremonious cheer, whoops and hollers came from all corners of Remnant as people tuned into the match from home. "YOU ALL KNOW HOW IT WORKS BY NOW SO LET'S GET RIGHT INTO IT! IN THIS SEMI FINAL ROUND WE'VE GOT LITERALLY THE ONLY ONE NOT FROM BEACON AND A BEACON KID, SURPRISE SURPRISE! IN THE FIRST CORNER, WE HAVE ZABAR AGA, WHO THREW A F ҉   ҉ KING SUN AT HIS OPPONENT LAST ROUND, AND IN THE OTHER CORNER, WE HAVE JUNO VERT, ASTROBOY! NOW, ONTO THE ENVIRONMENTAL SPINNER!" The crowd cheered heartily.

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Desert and Urban.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE SPECIAL THING ABOUT THE SEMI FINALS IS WE GET TO INTRODUCE SOMETHING BRAND NEW TO THIS YEAR'S TOURNEY!"

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose one new floor. The entire field was swept with sand and throughout it, several buildings with broken windows, collapsed walls, and missing doors stuck out like ancient markers for streets now lost to time. Several croppings of red stone dotted the perimeter of the arena, shielding the faux fallen village from nonexistent threats from outside of their land. All throughout the field, a harsh wind blew, carrying with it the sand that kicked up off the ground, forming a small sandstorm within the field.

"WELCOME TO THE RUINS OF VACUO, NOW WITH WEATHER SYSTEMS!"

Just then, the doors on each side of the arena opened and, from them, out strolled the combatants.

(A coin flip decided Zabar gets the first post. The arena size is that of the 1v1 arena in the show, but still features biomes, though scaled down. Good luck, contestants.)

Zabar stepped out into the arena, shieldin' his eyes from the bright lights that lit the battlefield. After his eyes adjusted to the light, he pulled his hand away from his eyes and lifted both arms into the air, greetin' the crowd around him. He had apparently slimmed down on his outfit for the fight, as both the poncho and button up shirt he wore over his armor were gone. Now, he simply wore his boots, worn out jeans, scavenged armor and gauntlets, his hat and his bandanna.

With the roar of the crowd subsided, he took a deep breath and stepped out into the sandstorm, pullin' his bandanna over his mouth as he did so. The winds reminded him of Vacuo, of home. Harsh as they might be, there was undeniably a nostalgic feelin' to the sand gratin' against his the sides of his face as he walked through the desert. He pulled his hat down lower on his face to better shield from the sand as he made his way out of the sandy wastes into the sandy ruins, thinkin' back to the ruins just north of Vacuo with the fallen spire.

"Focus." He told himself, his voice muffled by the bandanna. His opponent was Juno, the boy he'd met back when the festival first started. Zabar didn't appreciate Vulco mentionin' the fireball, but maybe this time it was just balancin' out. While he'd only sat in on the first round of his partner bracket match, he'd seen some of what his opponent was capable of. He fight hand to hand pretty handedly, which should be interestin', he's got a collapsible shield which might prove an issue for ranged attacks, and two very interestin' oddities. The discs and sword made of light, with a range long enough to reach the other side of the field with the discs, screamed 'semblance' to Zabar.

"Another light manipulator? Weapon creation?" He mumbled to himself as he came to a stop at the center of the town, the harsh winds whippin' around him and pullin' at his hat. Whatever it was, he needed to keep an eye on it. But in the mean time, he waited for Juno to either make his way to the center with him or launch an attack from outside of the town.

His hands tensed as he readied himself to use his semblance at any time. If Juno decided to use his discs, he wouldn't have much time to react with the sandstorm obscurin' his view and even if he did manage to react quickly enough, there wasn't a guarantee he could catch them if they were a semblance. No sense not tryin' though. On the plus side, the sand would also hide the shimmering air in front of his hands when he used his semblance, he might be able to use that to trip up Juno...

But all that was for the fight. Now, all he could do was wait.

Zabar Aga.

The young Vacuan man that Juno met at the assembly for the Vytal Festival. Juno hadn't seen the guy fight, but he had to be pretty good to make it to the semifinals. Juno couldn't allow himself to underestimate an opponent, especially after the beating Jack had handed him before his accident.

Oh, the media hated Juno for that win. Jack had quite the sizable fan base, and given the incidents with Eau... Yeah, it took quite some effort to quell all the cries of foul play. Juno could have sworn he saw a few disgruntled teenage girls flip him off as he headed to the locker room, too.

Nevertheless, Juno had a fight to win. His team's victory in the 4v4s was substantial, yes, but he couldn't simply ride on that. He and Phi were on their own this time. No sniper support from Verdant, no hit and run from Caja, and no heavy backup from Sam. The fights in the 1v1s were theirs and theirs alone.

As the gates opened, Juno closed his eyes, allowing the visor to slide over his face as he strode out onto the field. It was uncannily bright, mostly due to the arena's artificial sun, but that was less an issue than the sand. A raging sandstorm whipped through the shelled out buildings, and while the loss of visibility was negligible thanks to the visor, it was certainly annoying. Thank the gods for Aura.

Juno was quick to point out his opponent as he strode toward the center of the field. Supposedly, Zabar had "thrown a sun" at his opponent last round. Fire manipulation? Energy, possibly? Juno didn't know, but he would definitely find out. A light smile played at his lips as he reached the center, holding out a hand to his opponent. "May the best man win." he stated, hoping that given their previous interactions, his opponent would be sportsmanlike enough to return the gesture.

Razzy's in the stands, waving around a small 'Go Zabar!' flag and large foam finger with '#1' written on it. He cheers as his former opponent enters the field, hoping to see a radical battle.

Nathan sat down, repeating the same moment for what seemed to be the tenth time. Okay, maybe he was exaggerating a bit, but still. This time, he also had his sunglasses on to watch the fight before him. That mini-Sun was bonkers bright.

Catalina sat as close to the arena as possible. And holy shit, that flag cheering for Zabar is huge even all the way across. He wanted to find Nathan, or at least sit with him silently, he just have a natural liking for him and as opposed to that, dislike Jack for what seems to be manipulating the masses to hate Nathan more the necessary. Or maybe he is just a little anti-social. Cat don't know and don't quite care.

Zabar chuckled as he met Juno's hand. "I'm sure they will!" With a tight grip, he shook it once before letting the hand slip from his own. "Now if you'll excuse me..." He said as he began to step backward, making sure to keep an eye on his opponent at all times. "There's an old tradition in Vacuo. Two warriors would take ten paces from one another and then draw their weapons. 'Course, we won't be fightin' to the death, but hey it's somethin'." The boy shrugged as he came to his tenth pace, stopping just between two of the buildings to his right. A small alleyway led off into the wastes beyond the town. To his left a small shop with blown out windows and sand crowding the insides.

"Nothin's forcin' ya to do this, hell it'd be smart just to attack me while I'm unawares, but if ya want to wait five seconds after reaching your tenth pace... and draw."

Zabar could feel the chambers in his gauntlets spinning. Ice would be useless out here in the sands, he'd need to get into one of the buildings or use it against a wall if he wanted to get a shot off. Fire would still be effective, but he'd need to be in a closer range thanks to the winds. Propulsion should be fine if he can just fine if he can shrug off the sand. Lightning was his best bet for now.

He ran over the checklist in his head as kept a keen eye on Juno.

Ten paces. Like the duels he'd read about in history.

Made sense that the only Vacuan representative would try to adhere to that principle. And yes, while it would have been more advantageous to fuck off with tradition, Juno wasn't a dick. Offering a simple nod of approval, Juno began to step backwards, considering his plan of attack. To his right, a two story complex stood, the nearest wall all but torn apart. At his left, an alley between two smaller, but similarly run down buildings offered more accessible cover. A better bet to rush there than to look for higher ground.

Five seconds.

Juno flexed his fingers as he stared his opponent down, the rifle on the small of his back shifting from its boxy storage form. A solid shot to center mass could grant an early lead, and while the option to use the disks or the line to kick things off was tempting, he couldn't afford to give away hints of his ace so early.

One second.

"Draw." Juno stated under his breath as his hand flew to the rifle, tearing it from the magnetic holster on the small of his back and leveling it toward his opponent. The shot was very nearly lined up as Juno pulled the trigger twice, hoping that the six searing rounds that followed could make up for any inaccuracy.

Zabar knew he needed to dodge as soon as Juno began to move. He should be able to roll out of the way of the disks, he just needed to- It's a gun.

Alright, new plan! The chamber in Zabar's left gauntlet ceased spinning and he quickly outstretched it and fired a burst of kinetic dust, sending him flying into the alleyway just as two of the rounds slammed into his chest. A quick inhalation of filtered air was all he was permitted before he slid to a stop within the alleyway.

He didn't waste any time as the chamber in his right gauntlet spun to its ice dust canister. "Alright. He's got a gun, a sword, a shield, and disc... though two of those might be his semblance. Alright then, let's play..." He stood, halfway down the alleyway, pointing his right hand toward where he'd entered, an his other hand toward the exit leading to the wastes. Waiting.

So. Cutting and running wasn't quite what Juno had expected of his opponent, but it was something he could work around. As Zabar ducked into an alley, Juno straightened up, stepping into a brisk stride toward the alleyway.  He was already off to a decent league, and having his opponent on the run this early could be an advantage. So on he strode, only to be stopped as Phi materialized on his shoulder.

"Hollup." she started, keeping communication limited to his headset.

Where did she learn "Hollup" from?

"An alley has three points from which you can engage. sides, and air. He'd expect you from the sides, right?"

Juno paused, taking into consideration what he had just heard. Going in blind from the side would haven't been the greatest decision, now would it. He'd have an escape route, or would be ready for a confrontation in a narrow corridor. Seeing as how his opponent had sandwiched himself between two buildings, Juno saw fit to scale one of them, choosing the one nearest to him as a prime candidate. Thankfully, his opponent wasn't currently able to see him, making scaling the building that much easier with the assistance of a grappling line. Once on the roof of the building, he kept his footsteps light and his stance low as he crept toward the edge, glancing at the building across from him. A light sigh escaped his lips as he noticed that the adjacent building's roof had been torn apart. He had made the right choice.

Once Juno was at the edge of the roof, he glanced down at his opponent, pausing a moment before bringing the rifle over to the edge. The action prompted several sizable chunks of rubble to fall off of the building and onto the alley below, something he silently cursed himself for as he lined up the shot to Zabar's head and pulled the trigger.

If not for the harsh winds of the desert, Zabar was sure he could have hear his opponent sneaking up on him. In retrospect, he was an idiot for not checking above and he got what he deserved. But now...

As the rounds slammed into the back of his head, he ducked into roll and moved out of the way of any more projectiles, though they didn't come. He quickly whipped his head back around and spotted where he'd been fired on from. Well, it was worth a shot.'

In the next moment, Zabar cycled his right hand to kinetic dust and launched a burst from both gauntlets to launch himself up onto the roof with Juno, mere meters from the boy. With a smirk and a nod, he clapped his hands together, the metallic clang sounding over the whipping winds. "Alright!" He said as the chambers in his gauntlets both cycled to ice dust. "I'll be the first to admit, that was a mostly bad idea. Maybe after last round I got a bit complacent. Dustin prob'ly wouldn't be too happy if I lost here, so..." Zabar planted his back foot and parted his hands. "... Let's get to the fun part!"

The Vacuan speedily launched himself forward, pushing off of his back leg and getting him just within range of Juno. His first move was using his right hand to swipe at the gun, aiming to either knock it out of the boy's hands or at least knock him off balance. While his arm was extended, he shot out his left hand toward Juno's chest, trying to push him back. Finally, Zabar brings his riight hand swinging back toward his opponent's head.

Zabar didn't seem that great at mid to long range. Good to know. Juno kept his finger on the trigger as he tracked his opponent. He should have pulled the trigger, but that opportunity was quickly lost as his opponent rocketed up to the rooftop. An unexpected move, yes, but not one Juno didn't adjust to as he pushed off of the ground with his forward foot, putting a bit of space between the two as Zabar spoke. The guy was talkative, and Juno honestly could have just shot him in the knee then and there.

Hell, he was about to pull the trigger when Zabar dashed forward, slamming his fist into the barrel of the rifle and sending it flying off to the side, skidding against the roof. With the loss of his gun, Juno grounded his stance and brought up his fists, only to be surprised as his opponent attempted to push him back. The palm strike itself dealt some degree of hurt, but didn't succeed in imbalancing the heavier of the two fighters. A good thing too, as Juno's present position allowed him to better deal with the incoming backfist.

The armor clad fighter was quick to bring up his forearm to intercept Zabar's strike, frowning as his aura dropped a bit before wrapping his arm around his opponent's, his hand pressed against the Vacuan's shoulder. Juno then drove his foot into the back of his opponent's knee, pushing down at the same time in an attempt to force the young man to his knees. As Juno planted his foot against his opponent's back and forced his arm further, he considered saying something. A cheeky one liner to lighten the mood. But hey, Zabar wasn't a dick, there was no reason for Juno to be.

So Juno was silent as he pushed off of Zabar's back, releasing his arm and shoulder in the process. Once he had finished with his maneuver, the young man looked over the rooftop for his gun, spotted it, and strode toward it, a wary eye on his opponent as he did so.

Nathan blinked quickly all of a sudden. He didn't know why, but he felt as if he'd been watching those two duke it out for over a month.

Still, this was pretty fun.

As Zabar stumbled forward after having been released from Juno's hold, he quickly whipped himself around and shot forward both of his arms, sending two waves of ice dust rushing toward the weapon and toward Juno's feet. He clenched his fists shut as he felt the gauntlet give a small vibration as a warning of low dust. He didn't waste another moment, deciding not to check if the ice had secured both the weapon and Juno's feet to the ground, as he kicked himself up off the ground and launched himself toward the boy's gut, shoulder first, in an attempt to knock them both off of the roof.

As the two fell from the roof, Zabar's gauntlets began to cycle, spinning the left gauntlet to lightning dust and the right gauntlet to propulsion dust. He quickly launched off a burst of propulsion dust, allowing him to slow his fall and letting him land safely on the sands below, the storm raging around him.

Ice dust. Why was it always ice dust that screwed him over?

The young man glared at his opponent as the gun he had reached for was encapsulated in the ice, the crystalline structures of water soon ensnaring his ankles as well. All Juno could do was watch his opponent charge at him and brace for impact... and fire a grappling dart into the floor of the roof before said impact. While Zabar's shoulder check definitely hurt, Juno didn't go flying off of the edge as expected, as his anchor into the roof caused him to swing down through a window on the floor below, rolling into the floor and coming out on his feet. So his opponent still had some fight in him. That was good. And he was stronger than anticipated. Not nearly as fragile as Jack or Xanh had turned out to be. Perfect.

Juno poked his head out of the shattered window for his opponent, the line retracting into his wrist, but not dissipating. He could make out a form not too far from the two story's ground level, and he had the element of surprise. Moving back a few paces, Juno darted forward and took a flying leap, firing the dart into the ground before him, and using the centrifugal force to accelerate his descent, ripping it from the ground and sliding into his landing. As he approached his opponent, Juno fired the dart a third time, ensnaring Zabar's ankle. Juno then rose to his feet, the shift in weight acting as a hard brake as he tugged his opponent's leg out from under him, and close enough for Juno to throw a devastating hook toward his stomach, intending to drive his opponent into the ground.

Zabar felt the object wrap around his ankle and as he looked down, he put two and two together a split second too late as he was ripped off of his feet. He clenched his teeth as braced his leg and fired off a burst kinetic dust from his left gauntlet, pulling against the force of the translucent rope. He could feel the rope tighten around his leg, cutting off the circulation for a moment before loosening and freeing Zabar from the pull across the sands.

He quickly sat himself up and tight grabbed the shimmering end of the glowing line with his hand hand and unwrapped it form his leg as he stood up, pulling the line taught as planted his feet firmly in the sands, just like back in Vacuo.

"I remember you being a lot more talkative!" He called out before activating the dust in his left gauntlet and sending lightning shooting through the line.

Juno had realized his mistake the minute Zabar grabbed the line. The guy had just used Propulsion and Ice dust, he should have assumed something else would be in those gauntlets. As the electricity ran through his line, Juno braced himself, screaming in pain as it entered his suit and coursed through his body. However, he wasn't the only one in pain. He could hear Phi scream, the sheer pain distracting her from maintaining the construct, and causing it to shatter. It took a moment to process what had happened, realizing that the current must have found its way into her processor. Taking a deep breath, Juno turned his gaze from Phi's crumpled form laying on his shoulder, to Zabar.

67% to 68%. The Vacuan had tied up the match. Phi was slowly recovering. He needed to stall.

"An opponent of your caliber needs few words, Zabar. I haven't had a fight this even since I left home." Juno replied, rolling his shoulder and prompting the shoulder plate to run down his arm, anchoring itself to his forearm, but not unfolding into his shield.

"Well, I'm honored to be a match for you." Zabar said as he bowed his head slightly. As he looked back up toward his opponent, he dropped his right hand down to his side, leaving his palm open and facing behind him with a slight angle. "That grappling hook is a neat trick, I'll need to think about investing in that." He smiled underneath his bandanna as the sands blew against him.

In the next moment, she shot out his left arm again and shot out a short burst of lightning dust. As his opponent was hopefully stunned or distracted for a moment, Zabar let out two bursts of propulsion dust from his right gauntlet, one allowing him to shoot off to the right. As he flew through the sand, he twisted to face away from his opponent before firing off the second burst and an angle to send him spinning toward Juno's left side. As he approached he attempted to both his right hand then left hand backhanded against the boy's chest.

The notification flashed on his HUD as Zabar spoke, a light grin playing at his lips. Juno kept his eye on Zabar's hands, preparing himself to move the second his opponent moved. The second his opponent raised his arm, Juno dove to the side, glancing back to see the sandy ground he had just stood on, sighing in relief at the charred and glassy crater that had been left. His opponent, however, wasn't done. Juno didn't have time to deploy his shield when the first backhand came, forcing him to take the brunt of the attack with his arm. However, the second attack was intercepted by the large wall of titanium, which was swiftly planted into the ground as Juno stepped back, flicking his right wrist twice in quick succession to construct a pair of disks, one atop the other. With a slight run-up, Juno leapt into the air, clearing the shield and throwing the pair of disks downward toward his opponent, before landing on his feet with one hand at his back, facing his opponent.

As Zabar saw Juno leap up into the air and instinctively lifted both of his arms up to protect his head from an attack from above, just barely lifting them in time to meet the pair of disks flung at him. As they bounced off of his gauntlets, he quickly whipped around, swinging his left hand in a horizontal arc, sending lightning sparking along the ground in attempt to either wound his opponent or make them back off. As he regained his composure and saw Juno standing back, hand to his hip.

Zabar paused for a moment to get a bead on the two disks that had bounced away before returning his gaze to Juno. "I'll be honest..." He started as the chambers in his gauntlets shifted to the low canister of ice dust in his left gauntlet and the full canister of lightning dust in his right gauntlet. "Still not entirely sure what that all is. We'll need to talk after the match, but if it's your semblance, it's a pretty versatile semblance." He made sure to keep the disks in his peripherals as he spoke, letting his opponent grow antsy.

In a quick motion, Zabar shot out his right hand, sending out a stream of lightning dust, all the while, quietly activating his semblance with his left hand and collecting a steady stream of sand.

Juno was quick to raise his free hand as he jumped back, avoiding the arc of electricity and gathering the disks one at a time as they flew in separate arcs toward him. They were pretty even at this point, and any one move could determine the flow of the battle. Of course, this would all be so much easier if he had his gun...

Wait. Why was he trying to use the sword again? His previous attempt at close combat resulted in a significant shock

Stealing a glance up at the rooftop that the gun had been frozen to, Juno began to slowly circle around toward his shield, ready to dive once Zabar stopped talking and made any sort of move. By the time the Vacuan's hand shot forward, Juno was till too far from the shield to use it as cover, but he was still close enough to the building to fire a grappling line into the wall, throwing the two disks toward his opponent as a distraction as he reeled his way up and swung over onto the solid roof. His eyes darted around the area before he found the small slab of ice encasing his gun. While the ice was already melting, his gun wasn't entirely free, and he didn't want to risk ripping it out of the ground. Taking a moment to let the grappling dart dissipate, Juno flicked his wrist, constructing a third disk beneath his hand as he looked over the edge of the roof, awaiting his opponent's next move.

Zabar grit his teeth for letting Juno move around closer to the building, and as if that wasn't bad enough, he was back on the roof. He quickly looked at the area around him, noticing Juno had left a crucial mistake before escaping. The Vacuan grinned as he watched the vague shape of Juno launch two glowing objects through the sandstorm around them. He stole a quick glance down toward his left hand before making his move. As he suspected, more than enough sand had been caught up in his semblance.

Zabar kicked his foot off of the sands and launched himself toward the shield, activating his semblance in his right hand as he moved. Just before he reached the shield, he outstretched both of his arms and caught the disks within the semblance, before giving one final push off of the sand and launching himself on top of the shield and then upward again, propelling him onto the same level as Juno.

Just as Zabar came into full view, he let loose his semblance and sent the two disk and the built up sand flying toward Juno, hoping to obscure his vision. As he tucked into a roll to land on the roof, he slammed his right hand into the roof, the sharpened claws digging into the building and causing a small spiderweb of cracks to form in the weak material. Hoping that Juno would be distracted with the discs, he shot out his left arm and shot a stream of ice dust toward his opponent's left arm.

The cloud of sand and dust that had been shot up onto the roof of the building was unexpected. What was even more unexpected was the pair of disks, his disks, that burst through the sand and flew toward his torso. Thinking quickly, Juno attempted to sidestep his projectiles, suppressing the urge to scream in pain as one of them sliced across his torso. However, once they hit solid ground, they returned to his hand, joining the third disk under his right hand. Perplexed, Juno had no ready response as his left forearm and hand were suddenly encased in ice, save for a glare and an annoyed "Really, dude?"

Side-eyeing the gun, Juno quickly swept his right arm in a diagonal arc, throwing the disks in three branching paths, one upward, one to the left, and one dead ahead, with each converging on Zabar. Once the disks had left his hand, Juno smashed the ice against the ground, eyes widening as a series of thin cracks in the roof began to form under the shattered ice. His shooting hand now free, however, Juno dove for the gun, picked it up, and gave the weapon a quick look through, ensuring it was okay before leveling it at Zabar's chest and pulling the trigger

Zabar didn't even get a chance to reply with a snarky remark before having to quickly bring his arms together in a tee shaped cross, with his left arm in front and pointing to the right and his right hand in the back pointing up. He activated his semblance again just in time to catch the two disks coming from above and to his right just as the third disk slammed into his gauntlet before bouncing off. He flinched slightly before standing up and immediately getting shot in the chest three times.

Zabar stumbled back with a muffle "Sonavabitch..." before refocusing on Juno. He pointed both of his hands toward his opponent, coating the disks with ice and lightning dust as he did so, and loosed his semblance, sending the two disks flying back toward Juno. 'He won't fall for that trick twice.' The Vacuan thought as he cycled both chambers to kinetic dust and pointed them down toward the roof.

Two quick bursts launched him high into the air while his opponent was hopefully distracted. At the peak of his launch, Zabar cycled both gauntlets to full canisters of fire dust. As Zabar began to fall he put his arms together and prepared to slam down into the roof directly in front of Juno and as he approached, he let loose a plume of flames from both gauntlets.

It was a quick and decisive movement. Zabar slammed both gauntlets down into the roof and in an instant, spiderwebbing cracks spread through the whole of the roof before the entire platform caved in, sending both Zabar and Juno down into the second floor of the building.

Zabar landed on all fours, just for a moment, before lifting himself up and quickly kicking himself backward, out of the way of any surprise attack Juno might try, before recomposing himself and preparing for a counter attack.

Juno straightened up after he saw his shots hit deep, raising an arm to catch the disk that had bounced off of his opponent. His eyes widened as he looked over the Vacuan, his other two disks floating beneath the boy's gauntlets. So *that's* how Zabar had turned the disks against him. Some sort of reflection semblance, perhaps? Yet, they still functioned as his disks, as evidenced by them returning to his hand. He could shatter them, and that was probably ideal. There wasn't anything in his arsenal that Zabar didn't seem to have a hard counter for, anyway.

As the disks flew toward him, Juno ducked beneath them, clambering back to his feet before shattering all three. He'd have to hold off on the hardlight for now. However, when he returned his attention to his opponent, all he saw was a pair of small craters in the roof, only to suddenly feel an intense burning as Zabar rocketed into the roof, hands wreathed in flames as the building caved.

Juno landed gracelessly and painfully on his back, his armor giving off steam as he stood up, rifle in hand. Taking a moment to glance out the window, Juno raised the rifle toward Zabar, firing a burst aimed at his leg, with another aimed for his chest quickly following, before he jumped out of the window, rolling into a sprint for his shield.

Zabar activated his semblance as he saw Juno raise his rifle, quickly falling into a crouch as he did so. The rounds lodged themselves within the semblance and before Juno could get a chance to properly aim, Juno had already fled.

A heavy sigh cued his semblance deactivating and the rounds fizzling out harmlessly, no need to waste the energy he thought. He slowly stood up from the rubble and remains of the roof, taking in a deep breath through his bandanna as he raised up. As he stood, taking a moment to catch his breath, Zabar activated his semblance in his left hand and began to feed it flames. As the flames grew into a ball of fire, he slowly made his way to the window Juno had bolted out of. He quickly peeked outside just in time to watch Juno reach his shield.

Zabar let out another, quieter, sigh as he could feel the semblance weighing down his arm. 'Alright...' He thought, looking down at the now sizable ball of flames. 'Time ta kick back inta action.' A quiet raise of the Vacuan's arm out of the window and the ceasing of a semblance was all it took to send a large ball of flames hurling toward Juno.

The boy clenched down on his teeth as he jumped from the window after the ball, landing softly enough on the sands below. His semblance was taking its toll and he could feel it, but there wasn't any more time to hesitate. As soon as his feet touched the sand, he took off, sprinting toward Juno and trailing behind the fireball. As the fireball was about to reach Juno, Zabar cycled his left gauntlet to kinetic dust just in time to fire of a burst of dust to send him sliding across the sands to Juno's right, making sure to put just enough distance between himself and his opponent as he did so, while shooting out his right hand and letting loose another plume of flames.

As Juno darted toward the shield, he could feel an unnatural heat against his back. He didn't look behind him, though, focusing himself on ducking behind the shield. An explosion of heat and flames flowed around the shield, licking at his body and further heating up his armor. As he waited out the burst of flames, he didn't anticipate his opponent sliding to the side of his shield, diving to the side as the flames struck his legs. He was falling behind.

Juno was quick to construct and fire a grappling line at his shield once he got to his feet, forcing it out of the ground and linking it back toward his arm, glaring at Zabar as the shield folded back into his shoulder plate. Shattering the dart, Juno opened fire on his prone opponent, pulling the trigger three times as he slowly toward his opponent. He didn't care how many shots hit, he just needed to keep his opponent at bay.

Zabar felt the wave of heat rush over him as the fireball exploded onto Juno's shield, sending the flames shooting in every direction. He grit his teeth as he felt his aura sink from the splash of the flames, only the clench down harder as a burst of energy rounds slammed into him. He didn't have anytime to think before throwing out his right hand and activating his semblance while placing his left hand flat against the sands. As other misfired rounds zipped past him, he only caught three more rounds in his semblance and quickly sent them back to the sender in a shotgun like burst, it probably wouldn't hit him too hard but it would get him the slightest bit distracted, and that was all he needed, but...

That was it, he had maybe one more use of his semblance but no more than that, he could feel it in his aura. But that didn't matter now. 'No more foolin' around!' The single thought passed through his mind and as soon as the rounds were sent flying back to Juno, his right gauntlet cycled to lightning dust and sent a stream of lightning chasing after the rounds, directly toward Juno. As the stream began to leave his hand, he let out one last burst of kinetic dust, launching him up off of the ground and into the air before coming back down and closing the distance between him and his opponent. As he began to fall back toward the ground, his left gauntlet cycled to the remaining lightning dust and shot out his other hand, letting loose a second stream of lightning, making sure to keep a constant bead on where Juno was and all the while getting closer and closer. An exasperated sigh escaped the Atlesian's lips as Zabar caught several of the rounds. Of course he could catch the rounds. Scowling as the heated rounds floated beneath his opponent's hand, Juno let the plate slide down his arm unfold onto his wrist to make his shield. As the rounds flew, Juno planted the shield into the ground, giving a satisfied smirk as they collided with the massive plate of titanium. Juno, however, hadn't anticipated the stream of lightning that struck the shield, coursing through his body, causing him to scream in pain. With what little strength he could muster, Juno ripped his arm from the shield, stumbling back into the sand in a daze. His suit was barely functioning, hardlight systems were shot, and Phi was offline. A glance at the scoreboard showed that he was still in the game, albeit barely. 25% to 33%. This wasn't going to be easy.

Scrambling to his feet. Juno found his gun lying about three feet away from him, but out of cover from his shield. So Juno stepped back, raising his arms, readying himself for his opponent to leap out from behind the shield.

As Juno ducked behind his shield, Zabar ceased the flow of dust from his gauntlets. As he continued to slowly approach the shield, however, he activated his semblance on his right hand and began to feed the last of the lightning dust. 'One. Last. Use.' He thought as the ball of lightning began to grow under his palm.

He stood in front of the shield for a moment, just a moment, before pulling his right arm back and quickly moving past the shield, to the right. As soon as he rounded the corner of the shield, however, his opponent leapt toward him, tackling him to the ground and landing a straight punch to his jaw. Zabar let out a grunt as his head was knocked back onto the sand but forced himself to focus on the object at hand as he pulled back his arm again and slammed it into Juno's chest, driving the ball of lightning directly into his opponent. As the ball of lightning hit Juno, his opponent reached out one single hand toward Zabar's face in an attempt to get one last hit in, only to stop short as the buzzer rang out and signaled the end of the match.

As the last of the lightning disappated from Juno, the boy fell to the side, off of Zabar and onto the ground beside him while Zabar laid his head back down onto the sand as the sandstorm died around them. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted the final score, 23 to 10. He let out a long sigh as he closed his eyes and finally relaxed his arms.
