Title: A Stab At Team Building [Team BTRA]
Post by: The Mythic Scribe on January 08, 2017, 08:54:58 AM
The day was bright. Cold and all but clear and crisp with a lot of sun and not a cloud in the sky. A soft wind blew throughout, sending chills and pinking cheeks. Despite the temperature, Vale proper was still lively and busy, populated but not enough to make it overly crowded. You could hear the familiar tinkling of bells as doors opened, the ever-present buzz of chatting and talking, the soft roar of vehicles on the street, and occasionally a call from some food stall or peddler going about the streets sounding out above everything else. Numerous people held shopping bags filled with all kinds of things, a good number of those things food stuffs, as the farmer's market was only a few blocks away. The smell of cinnamon wafted through the air, able to be traced back to a certain vender and their glazed pastries, a group of four standing beside him as well.

"Oh, I just love cinnamon rolls!" exclaimed a member of the group, almost bouncing up and down in excitement. Prim wore the same clothes as always, but now with a scarf, thicker tights, earmuffs, and uggs to combat the cold. "They're just so sweet and warm, perfect for a cold day!" A cute giggle escaped her mouth as she turned from the other three members of her team to face the person selling the aforementioned pastries. "Hey Noel, it's absolutely amazing to see you again. Looks good as always!"

"Aww, thanks Primrose, you're such a sweetheart! I'm very much looking forwards to that order for next week. My niece will love it, I'm sure, she sings your praises day and night!" The plump woman smiled warmly at Prim before blowing a strand of thin carrot-colored hair out of her face. That proving unsuccessful, she simply pushed the strand behind her ear and into the wool hat hiding the rest of her graying locks. "I can see why though, your mother's pastries are so delectable I have half a mind to just raid the place right now! And you're not too shabby yourself! Look at that, ballerina, flutist and violinist by day, huntress saving the world by night! Your teammates, right? Oh, you grow up so fast!"

Prim giggled again, complaining "Ell..... Come on!" But it was all in good spirits, no matter how slightly embarrassing. "It's huntress in training by the way, I still have almost four years until I graduate from Beacon! Yeah though, these are my teammates, the members of Team Betray! Okay, so it sounds kinda bad, but trust me, it's awesome, we're awesome! Noel, say hi to Akeldama, Ace, and Fallow!" As she said each name, she pointed to their respective owners off-handedly, actually messing up whose name belonged to who because she was mostly focusing onto Noel at the moment.

Noel did just that, waving at the other three students with her gloved hand. "Hello children, it's very nice to meet you. But you're not here to listen to some antediluvian croak prattle on, are you?" She laughed good-naturedly before saying, "Now, I bet you're here because Prim dragged you along for my cinnabuns. Some of you look like you could use some fattening up, there's no use in training if you're not well-fed is there? Come on, whaddaya say?" Before letting anyone answer though, Noel started up again, determined this time. "You know, I'm not giving you a choice. One cinnamon roll for each of you! Ten percent off too! It's the least I could do for this angel's friends."

It wasn't often Akeldama got to enjoy the colder weather of Vale, her sleeved huntress uniform gave her just the right amount of protection from the cold but she could still feel the cold on her hands and face. She hid her laughter at Primrose's antics about cinnamon rolls.

'Cute, too cute'. Entered her mind without her realizing as she was thankful that she didn't say it out loud. Her thoughts drove away as she heard her name, but then saw Prim point towards one of her other teammates, while she just stayed quiet since it was a minor issue.

However, Akel's attention was brought when she heard about "fattening up". To this, she immediately looked towards her chest and spoke in somewhat of a mumble "Not my fault it goes straight to my chest". After this, she spoke up and was quite clear "I'll pay for all of us, my treat. Ah, just to avoid confusion I am Akeldama. Nice to meet you. The one in the fedora is Fallow which just leaves our dear Ace." As she took out a black wallet from an inside pocket in her coat and pulled out the correct amount of lien. While a small smile came through her lips which then made the sweet mostly colour-blind Akeldama into a sinister Blood-Heart with such a minor change of her facial expression. Plus the natural daytime sultry look in her eyes only seemed to amplify this little curse of hers 'cute or sinister' it was for her no in-between.

Ace didn't mind the cold, so long as he had his coat. In fact, he didn't mind most things so long as he had his coat. With it, he could be comfortable practically anywhere... even on the side of the road at some kind of baker's vender. He had been "dragged along" by his new teammate and was intrigued to say the least. Vendors such as this were nothing new to Ace but the city of Vale was, so he did not protest to this little excursion.

He had been admiring the architecture when his attention shifted to Primrose's explanation on the wonders of cinnamon rolls. When said teammate gestured to him, he gave a mock left handed salute with two fingers, fully aware he had been dubbed Fallow. If anything he was glad Prim mixed up his name, just for old habit's sake. However, when Akel had reintroduced him as "our dear Ace", he gave the same mock salute with his right hand without saying a word. He laughed internally, remembering how fun it was to confuse people.

When Ace noticed Akel paying for his food he thought: 'that just won't do'. So, he drew a rough sum of lien from one of his coat's many inside-pockets and, while the kind vendor was procuring their order, slipped the money into Akel's pocket. "Pocket-placing" was almost as difficult as pickpocketing, but it was no challenged for Ace. Then, with his pride intact and a cinnamon roll brought before him, Ace's thoughts were as follows: 'Do I want to know what would happen if frosting got in my hands? Or continue this trip with dirty gloves? Also, do they know about my hands? not important. Where are the napkins?'

Fallow had been standing around with his hands in his coat pockets while he waited for the conversation in front of him to finish so that they could move on. His only real motion was to smile and nod politely when he was pointed out by his leader. Not having bothered responding when Primrose had introduced him as Akel. Given that he was more interested in his surroundings than the conversation he happened to notice Ace's hands at Akel's pockets and a smirk crossed his face and he leant over slightly to speak lowly into Ace's ear.  "Get anything good?"

Prim clapped her hands gleefully as her teammates accepted, giggling and accepting her own cinnamon roll from the old friend. "Thanks Noel!" she exclaimed exuberantly as well before facing Akeldama to thank her too. "And Akel, you didn't have to do that! Oh, it's so nice of you though, thanks! I'll make sure to make it up to you somehow, next thing's on me okay?"

"You girls are such sweethearts," Noel said fondly at the two, though one could notice that it was done to quickly cover up the look she had at seeing Akel's unfortunately malicious smile. Taking the lien from the team's leader, Noel counted through quickly before shoving it somewhere in the machine. She then proceeded to hand out the pastries dripping with glaze to the four, a warm smile accompanying. "Eat up darlings, it's a cold day out here and nothing warms your body and soul better than a sweet treat." As she saw Fallow's-no, wait, that was Ace, yes, Ace's hesitation at her pastry, Noel noticed the gloves he wore. "Oh, silly me, I forgot the napkins! You wouldn't want to get those gloves you all are wearing dirty!" She slapped a hand to her forehead before passing them out to the four. "Now you can enjoy."

Primrose did just that, sinking her teeth into the delicious confectionary in glee, savouring the sweetness of the glaze, the soft richness of the dough, and the light kick of the cinnamon. No one could best Noel when it came to cinnamon rolls. "Oh my god Noel these taste so amazing! Just like every time. How do you do that? How do you make these so delicious?" In the meanwhile, the 'sweetheart' tried in vain to keep the glaze from dripping all over the place, before just deigning to sigh and take another bite instead.

"A magician never reveals her secrets," was the genial woman's reply, winking at Primrose playfully. "I'm very glad you're enjoying my pastries, there's nothing better than seeing such sweet children enjoy what I make for them, that just warms my heart better than anything else." Seeing as the team had reason to stick around for a little longer, to finish the rolls, Noel took the time to converse with Prim. "Are you and your team planning to go anywhere else in particular today, Primrose?"

"Hmm?" Caught slightly off-guard by the question, Prim swallowed the bite that she was chewing at the moment, then quickly took the napkin and wiped her mouth with it. "Oh, yeah! Akel and I thought it would be nice to take the whole team out on the town and all! To get to know each other better. Right now I practically know nothing about my teammates, I mean well not nothing, they're not strangers or anything I mean we've kinda gotten to know each other and I kinda know what they're like but we haven't really gotten to bond or anything or develop trust, which is like the most important part in a team-not to say I don't trust you guys," here she quickly turned to her teammates and back, "I totally do, I mean maybe not completely yet, but I do!" Realizing that she'd gone on one of her famous tangent rants again, Prim blushed in embarrassment. "Sorry, I kinda talk too much." Turning to face her teammates, she asked, "So uh, yeah, actually, what do you guys want to do out here? Akel and I thought we'd do a little shopping..."

"Well blood is always a good form of repayment". As Akel's malicious smile has yet to change. Her fangs making themselves known with her smile, but thankfully for Noel's heart she poked her tongue out in a childish manner. Akel accepted the pastry and sunk her teeth into it straight away (GET IT! HAHAHAHA... it's funny). Akel accepted the napkin from Noel and essentially ripped a fair amount of the pastry off with her fangs before she pushed the pastry into her mouth. A warm, yet still malicious smile came over her face as she let the ripped off pastry sit in her mouth for a still moment, she hummed a small tune as she consumed the pastry.

In no more than thirty seconds, Ace had successfully made a makeshift glove, covering the one her currently wore, out of napkins and accepted his pastry with a thankful grin. While Prim was rambling on Ace turned to Fallow and whispered one word: "yes". He then proceeded to take a rather large bite from his pastry, as if to make a point. The bite left a minor amount of frosting on his cheeks but he did not care nor would he care until he had finished consuming the pastry. The treat was surprisingly good. It, along with the atmosphere of his situation, reminded him of what he called 'home'. He then turned away from Fallow, having made his point (or not, either way he would consider it a win), and began listening to Prim's ramble. It made him glad that she said she trusted him (would make life easier in the coming days), but when she made the distinction between trust and complete trust Ace thought to himself 'challenge accepted!' Taking another bite, Ace noticed a familiar marking in the opening of an ally. His face lit up, remembering the last time his 'family' had been in this city. He turned to his new team, having thought of the perfect bonding activity. "Hey," he said getting their attention. "I think I have an idea... follow me." He then began to approach the ally. Luckily, they didn't know the kind of things that happen when Ace gets an 'idea'.

Fallow smiled and happily accepted the pastry and napkin and ate quietly while his teammates talked only pausing when asked about shopping.  "The library. I need to return a book." Once ace started to walk off Fallow wrapped the napkin around what remained of his pastry so that he could pocket it and then followed Ace.

Noel laughed good-naturedly at Akeldama's joke, though it was a little too loud and you could probably see the uneasiness on her face. That quickly went away though, and the woman simply shook her head, still laughing quietly. "Oh sweetheart, you're adorable and funny!" Fixing the silver-haired girl with a warm, look, Noel patted said girl's arm with a mittened hand. She really did enjoy meeting new people and having a laugh with them. She also really did enjoy seeing people enjoying her pastries, and as such, was brought much joy seeing the members of team BTRA dig into their cinnamon buns. Unfortunately, it didn't bring her too much joy to see that they were departing. "Oh, you're leaving?" she asked when Ace turned to do just that. "Well, I guess the lot of you better get on your way then."

Meanwhile, Prim was a little too focused on not getting any crumbs or whatnot over herself, focused enough to only realize that Ace said something when she saw him leaving. "Hmm? W-" She swallowed the bite she was chewing first. It was a big one, at least to her. Small mouth and all. "We're going? Alright... Uh..." Awkwardly, she transferred the pastry to the same hand that was holding the napkin, using her free one to readjust the small saddlebag that served as her purse for the outing. "Okay, then, let's go!" It was then that she realized that 2/3rds of the remaining portion of her team had already moved to go, which made the moment a little more awkward. 'Or you can just leave now, that's fine' Waving a goodbye to Noel, Prim scurried behind the other two, beckoning for her team leader to follow.

"So... where exactly are we going?" asked Prim. At the moment she'd caught up to Ace, looking up through her lashes at the taller figure. "Is it a surprise? I love surprises, I think they're amazing! Well, good surprises... It's a good surprise, right? If it even is a surprise, I mean... Really though, I hope it's not a bad surprise because that would be bad, I mean, it's in the name right? Once a friend of mine said he had a surprise for me and I thought that it was going to be a bad surprise because well, he really isn't the nicest person, not to say that he isn't nice, I mean he's not mean, but he's kinda juvenile y'know, still teasing and pulling things, that kind of guy, so anyway, I thought he was going to spring something terrible on me but then it turned out to be a surprise party! It wasn't even my birthday, and I didn't even know what we were celebrating, but then he revealed that it was to celebrate me going off to Beacon and training to become a huntress! That's where I got Wisteria from my dad, who really organized the whole thing."

Well Akel had actually realised that the joke sounded weird without the context of her previous nicknames from Signal. She was just about to explain when one by one her teammates walked towards their next destination. "Sadly so, still have a lot of activities to do and Beacon's workload is nothing easy. So until next time, I bid you farewell Noel"

Akel gave a short bow with her right hand over her left, a short bow which seemed to take after Mistralian culture. With that she turned around and slightly increased her walking pace to catch up. She listened to Prim's rambling f4om surprises to her friend then coming ss to how she acquried her weapon. Walking right beside Primrose and content on just listening.

Ace approached the marking on the wall and placed a hand on it. A wave of nostalgia hit him like the brick wall in front of him. With a smile on his face, he turned left into the ally, not particularly caring if his team was following. Deeper in the ally, it split off into other allies, which branched off themselves. Unknown to most, Vale had a practical labyrinth of brick hidden between their buildings. But Ace had no problems navigating it. The etching on the first wall indicated, but didn't provide, the necessary directions. Ace used that indication as more of a reference than a guide because this had been the only area in Vale he had been to before. He had come with his "family" a few years ago and they followed the same path he walked now. This is the part where Ace thinks of something poetic to say about that but right now he's a bit too excited for that. After an uncountable number of lefts and right that would likely confuse anyone who didn't know the symbol's meaning, they came to a makeshift fence. Behind the fence, two sounds were most prominent: the cheering of a small crowd, hushed slightly due to the discrete nature of whatever they were doing, and a snarling sound of sorts, clearly not grimm but no friendlier. Ace was about to push open the gate when he thought of something and turned to the team that had followed him asking one question, "None of you have any problems with gambling right? some people do and I want to make sure..."

Fallow  knew something was up when they were lead through multiple alleywaya. Clearly this was something peoplw didn't want found that Ace was taking them to. Likely something illegal. He was dostracted from his thoughts by Prim's chatter. She really is a talkative one isn't she? [/B]  Before he knew it they had reacjed their destination and it took a far duller mind to figure out what they had just been brought to.  "Normally I don't but given the circumstances i think I'll be making an exception."  As he spoke Fallow walked straight at Ace amd his usually calm and quiet voice rose somewhat.

As Ace led the team closer to wherever he was going, Prim began to worry a little. The alley maze was getting a little dizzying and she couldn't help but think that their destination was something less than wholesome with how hidden it was. This uncertainty had made her steadily grow silent as she quickened her pace several times to keep up with Ace, even falling behind sometimes and almost getting lost. Prim didn't really have anything against mazes but she hated the thought of getting lost. She really did. God knew what would happen if she was claustrophobic as well, but luckily she was not. Eventually Prim resigned herself to clinging on Fallow's sleeve like a child would to their parent. It was probably annoying to him, but honestly Prim was too nervous to care.

When they finally reached the secretive place that Ace was leading them too, Prim's fears had definitely not been assuaged. "G-Gambling? I-I-I... I'm not-I'm not really the type to um, to gamble... And you know, I didn't really bring that much money with me and I don't really like putting something like money up to chance or whatever. I don't even like buying lottery tickets or playing slot machines! Even arcade games are kind of something that I hesitate. I don't know Ace..." Primrose's brow had creased, her eyes darting around, never really settling on one place. Clearly, the little huntress-in-training wasn't all too confident at the moment. "I know I said that I trusted you but this place looks really shady Ace. I don't know. I don't know. But..." She hesitated for a moment before looking back at their team leader. "Akel's our team leader. What do you think?"

Akel wasn't really fond of the alleyways her vision made everything a lot darker then it normally appeared to be. Akel took note of Prim and her apparent unease during their navigation of these seemingly labyrinth of alleys. Akel made several notes mentally about Prim to make sure that she could make her more comfortable for future events.

"So we have one who wants to go, one who is willing to make an exception, but given the "circumstances" Akel also did the quotation marks with her fingers just to drive the point home. "And our dear little Prim who doesn't."  Akel took a moment to double over what she said. "While I do have nothing against gambling I do think there would probably be some other activities that we would be able to enjoy as a team. Provided that you guys interest aren't more grown up in nature." Akel thought for a moment to make sure that she didn't miss out on anything that she could of said. "Don't get me wrong, this is nothing against you Ace, but I'd rather do something that doesn't involve any of our members feeling uncomfortable."

Ace listened to his team with one ear while rummaging through his pockets. When he found what he was looking for, it was his turn to speak. "Please" He said in a mildly taunting voice. "This is practically my family! I grew up in rings like this." He opened the small container that was in his pocket and proceeded to put on green-tinted contact lenses. When he spoke next, it was in a different voice entirely, much deeper and a tad louder. "Come now Primrose, do you fear your own path? HaHa" If his team were not watching him talk, they likely would have thought a fifth person had joined them. In reality, Ace was just good a voices. He reached into another pocket and began applying something to his face as he continued. "I will vouch for us. We'll go in and take a look around. We don't have to stay. I just though it would be nice to have a little extra lien for our shopping trip." Now with a face covered in a generous amount of stubble, Ace reached into yet another pocket. He had to go through every interaction he had with Prim to come up with that argument, but he felt it was solid enough. That, plus his neutral green eyes, hearty yet comforting voice, and kind smile could reassure most people, even if they say him apply the cosmetics. He was not done though. the words of his 'aunt' rang in his head: Make them want it... After sculpting what appeared to be putty, Ace now sported a more rounded nose before he continued. "If what I'm told about teams is true, then we are to be family. That means our families are family. Be at ease-" Ace then stood tall, having been crouched slightly so Prim could make eye contact without looking up. "It is not as though we are playing cards... that would get ugly."

Okay this Ace guy was kind of creepy. Prim was oblivious, but not stupid. But it did work, even if not in the way that he probably wanted it to work. First though, she made sure to take a step back. "Uh... I mean... If-If you say so. I'm didn't know that the people her were friends with you, your friends are my friends, I bet they're great, not scary of untrustworthy or scheming or creepy or evil or murderers or... what was I saying? Oh, I bet they're not, since they're your um... 'family,' I wouldn't want to offend you, I bet you have great taste in people, why wouldn't they not be good I mean I can't really think of any other reason than them running a shady casino only found in a twisting maze of buildings and walls that's probably hidden for a reason!" She laughed awkwardly, which was a little longer than it should've been. Trying to draw attention away from that, Prim fake-coughed, bringing her hand up to cover her mouth. It wasn't very convincing. "Okay let's just, let's just... get it over with then. Not that I think it's a bad thing that needs to be rushed through I mean I'm sure it's fun! And... fun... And... I'm going to stop talking now."

Akel was rather amazed. Prim's rant about it being shady and her concerns about little aspects really did make her enjoy having her as a part of the team. "I'm sure it's going to be fun Prim, all of the people in dark colours, probably smoking and glaring at you, probably us three as they have their weapons at the ready to fight back should we try to bust up this little 'gathering' within Vale. I mean sure they could be completely trusting but who knows." The whole time during Akel's little tease at Prim she kept a somewhat sly smile, obviously poking fun at Ptim's insecurities.

However Akel did have her scythe strapped onto her thigh, a good huntress never goes anywhere without her weapon. Something that she thinks every hunter/huntress should keep in mind.

Ace let out a long sigh before switching back to his normal voice. "You know what, never mind-" He did not stop talking while he removed the putty from his nose. "Let it never be said that I dragged someone into a canine arena against their better judgement." He wiped the 'stubble' off his chin and cheeks and continued. "Too bad, I think today is grey hound day." After he removed his contacts and successfully changed back into the Ace they knew, he allowed his shoulders to drop. "Oh well, I suppose we will need to find a more 'legal' source of entertainment. Not quite my area of expertise so I have no suggestions." He internally curses his morality for his surrender, but concedes. He had to remind himself that Prim probably grew up on Saturday morning cartoons instead of dog fights. He just hoped wherever they ended up next would present an opportunity for profit one way or another.

Fallow remained passive. Glad they were leaving and making a mental note that he would come back here and burn the dogfighting pit to the ground. Realising he might have issues getting back he flicked out one of his switchblades and begun sheathing and unsheathing it. Once they left he would leave a mark on every corner so that he had a trail to follow back.

Prim whimpered at Akeldama's words, while also trying to glare at her. And failing miserably, per the usual. She also failed at trying not to look too relieved when Ace finally agreed to not forcing them to go in to what was supposed to be a... canine arena? He also mentioned greyhounds. He meant dog racing right? Yeah, that must be it. Must be. What else? "Well..." she said, slowly coming out from behind Akeldama, "I guess we need a new plan for going out on the town now... Any ideas? Window shopping? Actual shopping? Grocery shopping? Pastry shopping? Something other than shopping? Not that shopping isn't great, it's great, I love shopping, though money, but clothes and cakes and cookies and pastries and food and fruit and everything... Anyway, any more options? Ones that are legal?" She glanced at Ace for a second. "Ones that can help with team building or whatever? Something fun?"

"hmm... Actual shopping sounds fine. There is a new shop in a nearby mall which has brands and fashion which normally are only avalible in Atlas." Akel tried her hardest to shrug off the fact that there was a canine arena. Her normally relaxed hands was in a fist, her knuckles turning white before she relaxed her hands and let out a breath.

"There is also a large arcade in the mall in you guys really despise shopping that much." Akel gave herself a moment looking at her teammates, then herself, then lastly to Prim. She snapped her fingers and pointed to Prim.

"We should get her a long coat. We all have one except for her. How about it, Prim?"

Without saying a word, Ace cursed to every deity he knew about, regardless of his beliefs. Making sure not to show any signs of irritation he regarded his situation. In a fit of nostalgia he had likely ruined his first attempts at genuine friendship. His credibility was gone and any attempts at this point to convince them he was against the arena would be futile. However, the situation did not appear completely dire. His team had yet to shoot the messenger and appeared willing to move on for now. His best option seemed to be simply to shut up for the time being.

As his team conversed on what they should do now, Ace wandered to the side. He came upon a slightly rusted but in tact wire gate. Observing it briefly, he stepped up, picked the lock like it was nothing, and held the gate open to reveal a dark yet quaint side street. He didn't say a word since his team was conversing but was sure the slight screech of the gate was enough to inform them that he had found a short-cut. But then again, would/do they still trust him?

(sorry. didn't realise I was up)

As they strode along he noticed that Ace was offering them a short-cut as he picked a lock. "Where are you taking us this time? possibly best to just go the way we came."

Prim shrugged at Akeldama's question. "I'm fine, really. The cold doesn't really bother me too much, usually just if there's a lot of wind, so I don't need anything not really. Shopping though, yeah, and-and um, there is an arcade. I'm not too good with games, but there's always room for improving!" She smiled tightly, rocking from the tips of her toes to the balls of her feet. Restlessness came easy to Primrose.

"Oh hey!" she exclaimed as she saw Ace open a gate that she'd been sure was locked before. "Look at that, you found a... really dark and shady path. That's not scary at all. Well at least it's quiet. Should we use it though? I mean, it took a while for you to lead us here, so... If it's a shortcut, I wouldn't be too opposed, though hopefully you know the way, you seem to know your way around here, like seriously you were really fast when you led us through the place, really really fast, and not to mention that I almost got lost a few times and god I hate getting lost..." Deep breath. "So uh, what is it? Where does it lead? And just a thing for all of us," here Prim turned to look at the others before returning her gaze to the dark pathway, "where are we going to go next again? Might be good to decide now, right?"

"I think it would be better to decide where to go once we get out of here. Where is it safe and not so dark as a moonless sky." While having faunas eyes did make it easier to see, she still saw in shades so everything mixed together a little more then she would of liked. Especially looking into the alleyway didn't give her any sort of confidence, well her scythe did and she could just use the fire dust but that would be a waste.

"Either way I think us girls should rely on the two manly men of out team. I'm more of an open area combatant and I don't think Prim has any close quarter combat experience. So... i'll be leaving the decisions to you guys." She smiled and took a small step back, letting the guys decide whether they would go back the way they came or through the shortcut, neither was ideal but hopefully Ace and Fallow would keep them safe. If the need arises her semblance would be a last resort but against anything without aura she wanted to avoid to the best of her abilities.

Ace let out a sigh for a plethora of reasons and emotions. "It's the escape route," he said a little too casually. "Things go wrong in there, they run through here. Leads to a service route that loops back to the city, but branches off to other areas in case of chase." Say what you would about crooks and criminals, the successful ones were organized. "As you can tell I'm not well versed in these kinds of outings, so it's your call," he said with a bland chuckle addressing everyone, but considering half the team's indecision, it really fell to Fallow. Ace didn't mind. They all seemed like good people. But he couldn't help but worry. If he had let his nostalgia slip so soon, how long would it be before old instinct and habit kicked in?

As Ace explained what the walkway was for Fallow cracked a smile. Might be worth noting this place after all. I'll need to block it when I burn this whole place to the ground. [/b] With this thought in mind Fallow begun striding down the walkway while still playing with Pip.  "It'll get us out faster then. why not?"

Prim let out a small sigh as the plan to take the shortcut was made. "Alrighty then!" she said, trying to seem cheerful. "Follow the dark, not brick, like asphalt or concrete or something, not really a road, but an alleyway..." Another sigh escaped her mouth. "Okay, the ragtag team is just about where the similarities end." Taking her bow off her back, Prim continued, "We should probably get out our weapons by the way, just in case we meet any unsavory characters. Like y'know, the criminals that you," she looked at Ace, "explicitly-yes I know big words too-said use this shortcut."

"Actually..." Prim looked around for a moment before confirming that her plan would work. "I have another idea! And I don't think it's stupid!" Realizing what she said could possibly be taken the wrong way, Prim let out a tiny gasp, covering her mouth with her hand as well. "I didn't mean that taking the shortcut was a bad idea, no no no no no, I meant that my ideas are stupid a lot so... Anyway..." She proceeded to go over to move then climb on top of a trash can, swinging herself onto a low-hanging balcony above. From there, Prim made her way up to the rooftops of the place using her whips and even her bow once. Lucky it was pretty durable. "I'll stay up here!" she called down to her teammates. "I'm better with long-range anyway, and I can kind of... keep lookout! Warn you guys if I see anything and show the way back to the main roads. We're not too too far actually. Alright? Great!"

Satisfied with the approval of... herself... Prim started to make her way alongside the path of the alleyway before pausing to squint at something in the distance. "Hey guys... there's something out there. Kinda close to the main roads. I'm not sure what it is, but... I tried a quick aura scan. I'm not too good with those things, but... I think there are Grimm there. I don't know, again, I haven't had too much training with aura abilities, but... let's just check it out." Not even waiting for any further answers, Prim started running along the rooftops towards the perceived threat.

Cupping her mouth to let her voice reach further, Akel called out to Prim "We're in the city. I highly doubt any grimm would actually be present. Probably just some thugs most likely." But Prim was already running towards it. So much for sticking together. "We should chase after her." Not wanting to lose her teammate, she gave chase, albeit from the ground while looking up occasionally to keep her in sight.

Ace followed after their roof bound teammate at a decent pace. He had no idea what she could have seen but he had a hunch it wasn't good. But that wasn't the immediate problem. The immediate problem was that he had no idea how to navigate the escape route. Firstly, he knew how to get to the gambling ring because the signal specified direction (albeit cryptically). Secondly, the route was meant to be difficult to navigate in order to loose pursuers. That was mostly a problem because if Prim went one direction and the route went another, it would be neigh impossible to meet back up except by sheer chance. With this in mind, he made a suggestion: "We should sync our scrolls and one of us should follow her from up there. If we run into people, let me do the talking before you start swinging." He then sped up slightly to keep pace with Prim on the roofs.

Fallow stopped to watch as Prim climbed the building and had to admit he was impressed by her athletic ability. Then things became much more urgent pretty quickly. Prim said she though she saw Grimm and people start running off. He began running to keep up as he heard the conversation around him. Hearing Ace's plan Fallow pulled his scroll out and fortunately had already made a contact to mass call his teammates if needed. He pressed call before responding to the next part of Ace's plan.  "Right. Going up." and with that Pip was put away and the Russet Grimoire was withdrawn. Pages were flicked through. a gloved hand passed over a page with a grey symbol on it. Fallow's feet then left the ground and he splayed his hand towards the ground. A blast of kinetic energy flew from his hand straight into the ground and created a spiderweb of cracks in the concrete as it impacted and Fallow's small frame was propelled out of the alleyway towards the roofs. An outstretched hand gripping a gutter was all that prevented Fallow from overshooting the roofs by a large margin. Instead he flipped over and landed crouching on the roof just behind Prim and he immediately gave chase focusing his aura in an attempt to use his sixth sense to figure out what it was Prim was heading for.

Prim called out "Yeah, sure," to answer both Akeldama and Ace, though she knew what she saw. While she stopped to link her scroll, Prim noticed Fallow land behind her on the rooftops. "Company!" she exclaimed cheerfully. "Come on, let's go. I'm almost certain it's Grimm and 100% certain it's nothing good." Picking up her pace, Prim continued running along the rooftops towards the commotion she saw, and as she got closer, the more sure she was that it was Grimm. She made sure to keep along a path that went along the road down below and to keep her pace steady enough that she'd be able to continue it until they reached whatever it was that she saw. Every once in a while, she looked over her shoulder at Fallow to make sure he was keeping up, keeping her bow at the ready as well.

Once she was close enough to see the commotion clearly but not enough that they'd be able to see her crouching on the rooftop, Prim gasped in horror. She held a hand out over the roof to signal for her team to stop. Not sure they'd be able to see her in her crouched position, she made use of their scrolls being linked instead. But before that... "Akel. Ace. Stop and stay down there. You're not going to believe what it is."

Before her eyes, Grimm were being held in large cages with thick steel beams, being carted off by shady-looking people along a path strewn with barrels and boxes, with multiple people going out to look and some others leaning out of windows to. It was a pretty  If she looked a little farther down the road, there stood an arena-like thing. "They've um, captured Grimm I think. They're carting them off to who knows where, but I think it's that arena area up ahead. There are a lot of them too, Grimm I mean. It's not safe for Grimm to be so close to the main streets, or in Vale proper at all, plus if they're doing what I think they're doing..." She took a deep breath to steady herself. "Bottom line is, they have to be stopped. Game plan, leader?" To help with the, Primrose held up her scroll to give the others on the ground visual.

On the ground, a tall, well-muscled man dressed in semi-formal clothing, the ring leader, was talking with the man in charge of the Grimm capturing. "Well well well, that all of 'em?" Met with a nod, he continued, "that's a nice collection we have today. Fighters and audience the same'll get a kick out of those. Nice job Damien." The ring leader stood back to then admire the collection he'd been brought. A pair of Beringals, a few Kaiju, Shenzi, a King Taijitu, a few good old Beowolves, and even some Vulpa from the colder areas of Remnant. He then retreated back to where his five bodyguards stood at the front with Damien. Along the line of Grimm, each cage had two guards each, in case the Grimm got out. But they wouldn't do much good considering how many there were.

"You have got to be kidding. Grimm! Of all places." Akel placed her fingers to her forehead, a sigh of frustration coming from her. 'Honestly. This sucks.'

Akel looked at the scroll, Beringals, Taijitu. Those were the biggest threat, Akel had the best chance at taking out the larger grimm. Her semblance being built towards tank type enemies. "We would have to strike swiftly, I can take out the Beringals and the one of the kings with my semblance, however after that I won't be able to use it again. That means I'll need you guys to cover me. Ace I think it would be best if you went and captured the ring leader and also the buyer. Fallow, I'm gonna need a way to get out quickly after I use my semblance charges, can you make sure of that?" Akel didn't think she needed to explain Prim's roll. She didn't really fit anywhere except as their ranged support. Longer time to plan would of been nice, however they would probably move the grimm off somewhere soon so time was of the essence.

"Hold on chief." Ace said to Akel but also into his scroll. "We are dealing with professionals... who are handling Grimm," As he spoke, he brought one foot at a time to within arm's reach and turned a nigh invisible dial on his shoes, effectively adding a few inches to his hight. "Don't you think it would be unwise having to deal with both threats at once?" As he shifted through his pockets in order to change his appearance like before, he changed his voice. It was a slither of a voice that would fit well on the lips of an upstanding member of society who controlled the criminal underworld from behind the scenes. "Now I got us an idea that would tip the scales our way. We are dealing with Grimm handlers, well funded ones at that. Those cages are not breaking any time soon. In other words, so long at the handlers don't get spooked and throw open the cages, the Grimm won't go bump tonight. Now if I were to guess, all the cages run through the same digital system, nothing mechanical anymore. If one of us cuts the fuse box, those cages will be harder to open that bank vaults. I believe that I can lure the ringleader and the supplier into the motherload of evidence, where I can... prepare them for custody. That leaves the last two of us to pick off the grunts. Work in a spiral and take them out two at a time, that should bypass their countermeasures." By this point in his monologue, Ace's chin now had a distinct point to it, he appeared to have attached earlobes, and his coat was buttoned and looked tighter, and more professional. "Now, unless anyone has a better idea, who thinks they can take out the fuse box?" He didn't like taking charge like this, but this was his element. Crime was his expertise. Not utilizing that in a time like this would be suicide.

Caging and transporting Grimm. Well I can't see this backfiring in any way at all. Though Fallow Grimly as the rest of his team strategized about how best to deal with the situation occurring in front of them.  "I can do the fuse box. Or I can cover your escape Akel. Which will i be doing?"

"They're probably smart enough to use fail-secure lock, right?" Prim asked the others. "Unless that's a mag lock, which you know, doesn't have any fail-secure things." Anticipating the surprise she'd get Prim just explained before they could ask any questions. "My dad makes weapons and stuff, he uses mag locks sometimes as a locking mechanism. So I know some of this. Not a lot," she admitted. "But some. Plus I just looked it up on my scroll, so..." She shrugged, even though Fallow was the only one who could see it. "And who knows, they just might be that evil... I'm just saying, this plan is high-risk."

"Anyway," she said, still focused entirely on the ringleader and the other guy, who were currently discussing something, "if we're going with the fuse box plan, it better be me covering the energy sources. My bow is more dependable than your spells, and I can aim more carefully. I can see them up here, and I think my bow can reach that far. It doesn't look like that's more than three soccer fields." Thinking a bit more, she added, "I think you should take out the first and second cages though, if we're going with that. And if you can reach that far. Three to eight, mine. I mean..." She threw a glance at him. "If you're okay with that."

"So what's the plan then? We aiming for the grimm or the locks? Either one seems good so long as the grimm won't be a threat?" Akel really thought about making the executive decision, but mag locks and that stuff were something she didn't know anything about. "So what would be the best strategy? I'm taking any and all suggestions"

"Well, since both plans involve me going for the figure heads, I'll just get on that. I'll be able to tell which plan you go with once you start, so expect radio silence on my part. But, and I cannot stress this enough, MAINTAIN STEALTH UNTIL AFTER PHASE ONE! Give me five minutes with the bossmen then stick to the shadows until something goes boom." After this brief piece of advice, Ace adjusted his coat and rubbed his neck. Then, before anyone could react to his statement, he said, "I'll see ya on the news when we'er heroes." Then, he removed himself from his cover and, with well thought out movements, made his way over to the buyer and ringleader. A few words followed by a laugh passed between the three and Ace and the criminals disappeared into a trailer where the business would be held. He had them, but what would he find in the trailer?

"I dunno! I'm not good at decisions, okay?" Prim's voice was high-well, higher than usual. "Just make a decision and tell me where to aim, we don't know how long Ace's going to be there!" She was honestly pretty nervous about it, it seemed like a pretty big deal. But oh well, whatever.

In her nervousness, she suddenly had an idea. In case the whole thing went sour, Prim pulled out her scroll and began snapping pictures of the whole deal. Ace had already distracted the ringleader and other guy, so she couldn't get them in, but that was enough evidence for now. All they needed to do at the moment was make sure this particular thing was busted.

Inside trailer, the ringleader and Damien dude were conversing with Ace. "So, what's your business? Can't imagine someone like you'd be too interested in this stuff, huh?" The ringleader spoke carelessly, charismatically, a smirk on his face and his posture oozing confidence. "Come on, not much time until the next show!"

Meanwhile, the Damien figure was only standing there silenty, looking the fellow up and down, seeming to analyze him. Up close his face could be seen in detail in its rugged and strict glory. Scars littered his arms, presumably even up the sleeves of his rolled-up black button-up. Unlike the ringleader, who was as spotless and shiny as some kind of actor or something. He made no moves, only stared the boy down.

The trailer itself was pretty clean, just a place to live it seemed. There was a laptop on the bed, closed, the apparent only source of any other evidence inside the trailer. At least the only one in plain sight. There was a drawer, a desk, cabinets, and who knew what they held?

"Ugh, screw it. We'll disable the locks. Hopefully, they just disappear like we were taught in class." Placing her hands on the handle of her scythe and pulling the sword out of the scythe and letting the scythe unfold. Going towards the edge and squinting her eyes to spot the fuse boxes. "Let's bust some crims." taking a step back and launching herself off of the roof onto one of the large cells the sound off of her landing making some of the guards look in her direction. She smiled and waved before her hair and eyes turned red and condensed aura suddenly formed into what looked like a rush of liquid going down on both of the fuse boxes and destroying them with the hope of sealing the Grimm and not some movie trope happening to her.

Choice words were all he needed. Choice words would get this done clean. Choice words were Ace's specialty. He had played this trick before. Currently, Ace was posing as an individual known as a grate, or middleman between two not so law-abiding gentlemen. Grates serves to throw police off in case of one side of a deal being compromised. Grates rarely show their faces and when they do it means they have great confidence in the transaction... and their pay. Choice words are all it takes. Ace is recording the conversation, gathering evidence. Another great way to do that is to take another man's wad of illegal cash. Seeing "his" pay, old instinct kicked in, and Ace decided to play along a little while longer...

He keeps the two laughing. Jokes about heists gone wrong and how foolish the cops can be. He keeps them talking, revealing more and more about this operations, slowly. Above all he keeps them distracted. Thugs are most alert when the boss men are out and about. Thugs are most lazy when the boss men are talking in their private area. And lazy thugs mean an easy mission for his team...

Primrose sighed in relief as the locks didn't open at the fuse box's destruction. Fail-secure. Good, at least they were smart bad guys. Wait, would that be bad?

Regardless, she strung a few electric arrows and take out the two guards closest to them. She wanted to incapacitate, not kill. Even if they had Aura, she didn't want to risk it. It'd do enough. "I'll get the guards, the rest of you focus on the Grimm." She glanced quickly down at her phone and then at her occupied hands. "Someone call for backup, police, the school, something like-oh god my scroll!" She scurried back hurriedly as sparks came from the device, a similar reaction coming from places near them. Tough luck it seemed, the phenomena stopped only a few yards behind her.

"Ah, you're one heck of a guy, Ace. Don't worry by the way." A bang sounded outside, followed by the sound of commotion. The ringleader seemed to hear something on his earpiece that caused him some level of distress. You couldn't really tell much from his reaction though, simply a sigh and a shaking of the head, followed by a hearty chuckle. "Nice job, double-cross me, huh?" He snarled and turned his gun on-

Damien narrowed his eyes, matching the other man's snarl with one of his own. "I did nothing of the sort." His voice only came out as a whisper, maybe a loud mutter, but it carried with it the dark, gravelly quality of a man who was not to be trifled with.

The ringleader opened his mouth to speak, then just closed it and shrugged. "Either way, I was planning to rip you off. You just made it less or a jerk move." Quick as a whip, he pulled out a small object and threw it forward, beeping rapidly. A bomb. Except the people weren't the targets, evident by the state of the electronics in the room. "EMP. Sorry if that stung. Leave no evidence, right? And the calls, texts, everything between us, Damien, evidence. If you decide to ever sell me out. How I love these babies. Pity about the computer though. Didn't even need to destroy that, runs off of RAM, hard drives and USB's are inserted. Smart, huh?" He smirked and fled the scene quickly, leaving only Ace and Damien in the trailer. "Have fun with your unlaundered pay, Damien. My usual Grimm guy's been wanting to thin the competition and I needed somewhere to deposit dirty money for it to end up in the hands of some choice police and district institutions."

Seeing the carnage outside, he disappeared into the labyrinth, leaving the flames to burn.

A mildly shocked  "Shit!"   was all that came from Fallow as he and Prim's scrolls went to hell. when it shocked his hand he flicked the scroll to the side not even bothering to watch it crashing to the ground and breaking.   Don't need it anymore. We have our plan. Fallow rose and begun flipping through the Russet Grimoire until he found the spell he was looking for. Running a hand across the page that hand immediately went into the air above his head where 100 daggers of ice formed. He then cast his hand forwards and the daggers flew forward into the crowd below hitting Grimm and transporter alike. Screw 'em. They were involved in the transportation anyway so he didn't care about inflicting injuries. Not that he had a method of attack that wasn't harmful to everyone in a broad area anyway.

Akel was more than a little shocked at the sudden rain of daggers in her vision. It was a little too close for comfort for her and she stumbled backward to get even a little bit further than the rain of ice daggers. She jumped over to the next cage which held a beringal and destroyed the fuse box and heading straight to another, if any got out it would just be trouble.

In Ace's opinion, this had not been his best job. First of all, the grimm handler smelled of old cheese, which wads a manageable annoyance. Second, the ringleader talked a lot. Way too much to be a quality undergroundsman. It was a rule, always say less than necessary. A rule he did not follow. The pay wan't bad but Ace though a job of this scale should have earned a Grate more. All of these Ace could handle and would have been fine. He was getting good recordings from his pocketed scroll and knew where the rest of the evidence in this place was. It was a sured success...

Until the EMP. That was something Ace was unprepared for and for good reason. At this point, EMPs were military tech and highly traceable, making them too hard to get for their worth to criminals, even city crooks like this one. Now, Ace could do with loosing his scroll, it wasn't his first and he knew it wouldn't have been his last. He could also do with loosing all the evidence. the ringleader revealed quite a bit in his ramblings and Ace was sure he could be found again. What Ace really wasn't prepared for, was the loss of his hands. After the bomb detonated, he no longer felt the synthetic nerves in his hands as they went limp. It only annoyed Ace how much the ringleader talked before bailing, but now he had a serious problem. He had to be isolated, NOW. With the dealer distracted, Ace remembered something from a while back. One of the crooks who helped raise him, Uncle Ticks people called him, had a pacemaker and a few implants in his head. One day, a lightning bolt struck a little too close to him, and sent his systems haywire. For all intents and purposes, he had a seizer. Ace mentally thanked Uncle Ticks for the idea before setting to work on his latest lie.

First, he let his whole body go limp, falling the the floor like a sack of potatoes. He curled his body slightly, twitched every muscle he could think of rapidly and blinked like a mad man. Now the kicker was his mouth. He had found a trick where if he bit his cheek a certain way, stretched his jaw, and held his breath, he could produce a stream of small bubbles out his mouth not unlike a rabid animal. The rightfully freaked out Damien scrammed out of that trailer like a bat out of hell. As soon as he was alone, Ace caught his breath and sat up, the gravity of the situation sinking in. He was barely armed, had no scroll and basically no hands, and there was a variable war zone outside caused by his team, which he couldn't support in this state. Facing injury to his wrist nerves, his pride, and his standing with his team, Ace could only say one word in the solitude of the trailer.

"Damn"

Prim noticed the other scary black-clothed dude that went into the trailer exit out probably in the hopes of escaping. THat would be the logical reasoning, who would want to stay somewhere when their whole operation was being disrupted and hopefully going to be outed. Too bad for that guy though, because Prim was so not going to let him get away. She drew a fire arrow and lit up his escape route, in the process of readying more. "Hey guys, big bad guy, probably important, probably matters a lot, probably could supply some really good information... My arrows can't hold him long, can someone go down and engage him? I mean like, combat, I don't think he needs a fiance or anything, I mean I don't see a ring but he's kinda far away and rings are pretty small and stuff also I mean who would want to be engaged to that dude... With scrolls broken Fallow assumed he would be the only one who could hear Prim. As a result he didn't bother to give a verbal response before acting on what she had said. By the time Prim had gone from useful information to rambling about interpretations Fallow had already run to the ledge of the building and vaulted over it. In midair Fallow opened his spell-book and ran his spare hand over the page. He then closed his hand except for his index and middle finger. A gesture of drawing a line with those fingers lead to a line of dust appearing at the feet of the fleeing man. Fallow twisted his hand so that his extended fingers were facing upwards activating the spell he had laid. The fire dust went off and burst upwards into the feet of the man and propelled him up and backwards just as Fallow hit the ground.
