As one might imagine, setting up a 10 cubic meter box in the middle of Vale's largest park was quite the difficult task. There were permits to sort out, shipments and personnel to organise, and all of that was before Beacon's Headmaster was contacted about having some of his students poached one evening for a bit of relaxed action. And Gavin Cavanagh loved every second of it.

Now stood atop a podium held above the "battle box", as he'd dubbed it, this feeling of affection was starting to fade, just a bit. Talking to large crowds always made him feel awkward, and with the box surrounded on all sides by bleachers full of Vale residents out for a good time, hoping to get a glimpse of their future heroes, it was time to begin this little party. Here's hoping he wouldn't sound like a giant idiot.

"Greetings, ladies and gentlemen, Faunus and Humans, to tonight's entertainment. I'm sure you're just as excited as I am to see how the great Huntsmen and Huntresses in training shall perform! But first, a word from our sponsor......" Gavin kept up a monologue for a minute, boasting about the product on display.

"Now, for our teams. Standing to my front, weighing in at a combined three hundred and eighteen pounds, I present, Solar Rasie and Janna Tarmac!!"

"To my right, with a total height of eleven point three feet, I give you, Carnation Prescott and Oni Shoji!!"

"On my left, their combined age of thirty nine making me feel old at fifty, I'm proud to present, Sandy Smoke and Acero Walker!!"

"Finally, stood behind me, with features that I couldn't come up with a way to combine, it is my great honour to give you your final team here tonight, Kerri Palidus and Blair Valka!!"

"Let's start this shall we? You all know the rules. On three!"

Okay, combat rules: They're the same as the Vytal Tournament. No autohits, aura % for damage, grabs and throws must have opponents consent, two day wait before autohits. Any problems, I'll operate as ref. You all start in the box. Good luck, have fun, and make it awesome yeah? Great.

‘What the hell is this?’ Thought Kerri as the announcer named the contestants and suddenly started the match. She was surprised at the impromptu nature of the fight and even the lack of time she had had to process the situation at hand.  When she had signed up for a tag team fight she had assumed there would be time to talk, strategize or at least find out what her partner could do. Being blind definitely has downsides, like not knowing what her opponents looked like or knowing how big the arena was, hell she would hardly be able to do anything if one of the other teams decided to snipe her right now.

it wasn't much better to try to guess what her partner could do.  The only thing she knew about her partner was her name (Blair), that she had some kind of big sword or other bladed weapon and the fact that she used an abundance of lavender scented hair products.  Brushing her thoughts aside she quickly brought her mindset back to the task at hand. This was her first fight in recent memory that she didn't have Cherry by her side and it was going to be weird fighting without someone who knew her inside and out.

  Black viscous aura trickled from her palms before expanding into a giant opaque plume of black vapor. And it came together to cover herself with a cloud of black aura which then dissipated to cover her with a layer of inky black and create two identical silhouettes. The three specters pulled apart blob of vapor-like aura from themselves and hold it in front of them as it's it infused with fire dust.  The fiery mass sustains itself in front of the three as they slowly shuffle backward low to the ground.  The three specters inched closer towards Blair. She whispered.  "Quick rundown,  I can't take much of a hit,  I'm blind and my semblance is to control my aura away from my body and channel dust through it.  You?”  She asks as she keeps the ball of flame pointed in the general area of the nearest  other group

The moment that the match began Sandy's hand shot upwards and a grappling line fored from it. He was then immediately pulled to the cielong of the cube. Once hanging he arched his body into an upside down crouch and looked for any aggression from the others.

Acero looked at the rival teams and his teammate. He felt somewhat out of place as the only 4th year student in the competition. He looked up at his teammate and said in a confident tone; "Hmm. You're a squirrely guy, huh?" Acero pulled out his sword, pressed the button on the hilt, and split it into two swords. He then said; "I'll take care of the tough ones. Just help me out when you can." Acero proceeded to get into a battle ready stance and observed the competition.

Solar thought it would be interesting and good exercise when she decided to participate in a random combat arena. First thing she thought was 'Wow a 10 meter cube for 8 people?How cramped...perfect!'. Second thing she thought was 'We lose if even one of us in the team gets knocked out? I hope my partner's got some armor...'. Third thing she thought upon seeing her partner was 'Lucky Me!'.

"Wow that's some really cool armor you got! She began talking to her team mate over the announcer. "Hi! I'm Solar! but just call me Sola! Soo i'm kind of a swing first think later kind of girl, but let's just have some fun yeah!?" she said excitedly introduced herself as she readies her weapon in the standard 2-handed style.

..."One"
"Begin!'

"Hi There!!" Solar bellows as she instantly initiates a fight with a heavy swing towards her nearest opponent which was a grey-eared wolf faunus girl with blue hair who was even shorter then her.[10% damage]

Acting quickly, Blair lifted her axe and blocked the attack. While it looked like she was in heavy armor, Blair was quite nimble on her feet in order to block the attack. She turned her attention to her partner. "While you might not be able to see, you can hear me, ya? Follow the sound of my armor as I move that or follow the sound of my voice." She instructed as she slammed her axe along the floor, causing it to be engulfed in flame. "You really do not understand the aspect of taking turns. Please allow me to share some of that with you." The Faunus girl told Solar as she swung her now flaming axe at the girl. She missed her first attack but activated her semblance on impact, this gave a small barrier around her and Kerri. "That should protect you from a couple hits. She smiled as she swung another attack at Solar. [10% aura if hit.)
(barrier streagth: 8 hits. Aura 100%)

Janna had already gotten her shields and swords out, and smirked to her partner. "Janna. Let's show 'em what for! You concentrate on dealing damage, I'll soak it up!" The shield maiden shouted out to Solar, stepping towards their opponents along with her.

With her partner going for a rather open attack at the faunus girl, Janna stepped in right after with her shields in front of her. The attack struck her shields, barely even making her move. There was a lot of mass to move there, Blair, and she seemed to have a very solid stance.

"We should stick close!" She told her partner, still keeping one shield in front of her while pulling her other arm back, switching Honor into gun form and firing at Blair's leg, intending to throw her off balance. The blast from the weapon was powerful, and an attack towards a more vital body part would probably do a /lot/ of damage

(Shot is 8% Aura damage, meant to  throw her opponent off-balance.)

Oni looked toward his partner with a smile on his face, before looking to the teams who were already attacking; wiping his smile off his face. "I'd say that we should wait until they wipe each other out. We could try to take out anyone remaining after that. I'm in serious mode: I kinda want that buffet. I'll go ahead and guess your skills. I'd say you could probably take someone upfront while I get around them. I hope that armour can take a hit, anyway. If you don't have anything to add, stick close." Oni leaned back on the wall, fiddling with Patricide in his hands.

His eyes darted across the battle box, keeping a close eye on any potential danger.

"You're probably right, actually. Everyone seems pretty absorbed in their own fights." Cara couldn't help letting a little sigh escape. Perhaps she over romanticized this duel, but she had dreamed the previous night of being the one to make a scene. Still, she shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth; any amount of damage the others did to each other was a free step towards that prize.

"You can count on me to protect us. Just stay behind my shield." She gave a reassuring smile to Oni as she adopted a defensive stance. Her shield abruptly expanded to cover her whole body as the sword in her left hand extended, forming a lance. All this in the span of just under a second. In this stalwart stance, Cara shuffled slightly to the side, covering Oni while still giving him enough space to move and look around.
