As discussed in chat on 4/27/19, here are the options we have for you.

Option A: A moderate age change. As we have a history of the academies accepting students at non-standard ages, all you have to do is age up a couple years and say they spent those years on the hospital. Spending the majority of their free time reading medical books. You won't get any practical experience, but will have spent enough time learning to have some decent "training" and won't have to overhaul the history.

Option B: Add a family ran clinic. Over the years they helped in the clinc, observing and ocassionslly assisting in minor procedures. Overall they'll have less book knowledge than A, but gains some minor practical experience.

Option C: Combat school field medic program. The general combat schools have specialized programs, so it is not inconceivable for Bordeaux to have been in a medic course for a couple years prior to enrolling at Beacon. Your training their would be a blend of book knowledge and field experience, but would also be narrowed down to combat and related injuries.

Appearance: A tall, slender, girl. Cosette stands at 6í1Ē(185cm), but weighs a mere 150lbs(68cm). Long legged, with a swimmerís build and slender arms. A bob of silver hair frames a heart shaped face with large violet eyes and a small nose. A lop eared rabbit, her silver-furred ears hang down towards her waist. The tips of each are loosely tied together with a purple ribbon.

Her standard clothing consists of a tight black t-shirt and loose denim shorts along with a pair of black and tights and black boots. For combat she slips a sleeveless set of leather armor over her shirt and tops everything off with a cotton shawl. Her bag is slung over her left hip with Little Thumper nestled in its holster on her right thigh.

History: Cosetteís story, like most, does not begin with her birth. Instead it begins with her parents. Specifically, her father. One Henri Silverhide.

There are those who know him as little more than a legend. The massive rabbit Faunus who could blast through hordes of Grimm and barely break a sweat. Others know him as a hero. One who would gladly stand between the weak and forces of Grimm, all the time with a smile on his face. Then there are those who truly know the man. Personally and intimately. They will all call him the same thing. A demon.

Henri did not hunt in order to do his duty in some ancient war between light and dark. Nor did he hunt to protect those who could not protect themselves. No. He hunted because he was driven by the urge to fight and kill, and he was smart enough to do it right.

When you blow a hole in a manís stomach, people asked why. No matter how evil that man may, or may not, have been. But a hunter could tear out a Beowolfís stomach and hang it by its own entrails and get paid to do so. Hell, if the same hunter did it enough times, they might even get a medal for it.

For several years Henri traveled the world as a contract Huntsman, earning money and glory to do things he would have gladly done for free. On his travels, he often met and seduced young girls easily led astray by his near legendary status. One of those was a young dog Faunus named Capucine. Cosetteís mother. Young and naÔve, Capucine ran away from her family home at the age of 17 after draining a small fortune from the familyís accounts, and followed Henri wherever he would go. For a little while she was happy, birthing a daughter before her 18th birthday, but Henri was not the type to settle down and he abandoned the young mother and daughter one night. Leaving them starving a penniless just outside the city of Vale.

As the reality of her actions caught up with her, Capucine thought back to her past, to the home she had left behind. And so she wrote a letter to her parents, apologizing for what she had done, and begging to come back home. She had imagined many different reactions to her letter. Anger and cursing were the lead candidates, but what she never expected was a single, calm, sentence written in the easily recognizable handwriting of her mother. We have no daughter. There would be no returning home. No forgiveness.

Forced to do whatever she could to feed her infant daughter, Capucine spent nearly a year as little more than soulless shell before she was taken in by an older couple of apothecaries and helped back to her feet. Soon becoming something of an alchemist herself. Skills she taught to Cosette as she grew.

Capucine spent most of her daughterís early years trying to avoid the topic of the man who had abandoned her. Both to hide the truth from her daughter and her own adoptive parents. As far as they knew, Henri had been a beacon of justice and mercy, but had been killed defending her from a pair of Ursa Majors. It was not until Cosette was 15 years old and nearly halfway through her enrollment at Signal academy that Capucine began to notice the child before her was more her fatherís daughter than her motherís. And so she chose to peel away the veneer of lies she had painted over her past and revealed every atrocity she had witnessed and every abuse she had suffered at the hands of the man she once thought she loved. It was not to seek pity from her new family, but to show her daughter what happened to the people around her if she gave in to her inner darkness. Unfortunately, Cosette had spent too many years looking up to her father, adapting her own fighting style to mimic her fatherís. Even her weapon was an homage to his own.

Cosette spent the next few years in a near constant battle between nature and nurture, going so far as to adopt a policy of non-violence. A policy she routinely fails to uphold. During her first year at Beacon, she found something of a way to balance the two. Her fatherís influence might drive her to kill, but she would always show as much mercy as possible. Death would be quick and painless. Wounds would be treated and stabilized by the same hands that caused them. She would be healer and a hunter.

Personality: Often described as bi-polar, Cosette is a series of conflicting personalities. She is shy and introverted in most situations, but prone to brash arrogance when speaking of oneís abilities and skills. Most notably when speaking of medicine and herbalism. Like her father she is violent, almost sadistic, by nature, yet is a self-described pacifist. While she would rather shoot a Beowolf in the stomach so she could watch it die slowly, Cosette is more likely to empty both barrels into its head in order to end it quickly and painlessly. Typically while trying to convince anyone who will listen, including herself, that she is a pillar of non-violence.

Her dichotomous nature spills into her social life as well. She is introverted, preferring to spend her time quietly researching or experimenting, but craves the companionship of other people. She wants to be alone, but alone in a group.

Aura and Semblance: Cosette is capable of using her aura to manifest as solid platform just under feet while in the air after jumping, allowing her to gain additional height or change direction mid jump. Each platform lasts for about 10-15 seconds, opening the door for some of the more agile pursuers to follow. Provided they can reach the next platform in a sequence. She can chain up to five jumps at a time, but each additional jump after the second comes at a heavy aura and stamina cost. Once back on the ground, her jumping ability will be restored after about one minute, but she lacks the stamina or aura pool to perform more than 2 or three full chains without adequate rest. Additionally, she is unable to strengthen her body, so she is still at risk of injuring herself if she chains too many vertical jumps at once and falls back down. She is unable to augment her semblance with dust or a focus.

Combat Behavior: Aided by her Rabbit heritage, Cosette is naturally fast and agile with a 5í (153cm) stationary vertical. Cosette also possesses some more mainstream medical knowledge, but is limited to some minor first aid. Her fighting style focuses on fast, close in, combat while trying to remain out of melee engagements as she is physically weaker than most with under developed muscle tone in her arms. Her prefered method is to jump in, blast them in the face, jump out and reload.

When fighting alongside her team, Cosette falls back to a support/medic role. Handing out various mixes to augment healing, combat, or to cover an ally while they disengage. She can recognize most plant species in the world by sight and knows of at least one use, either good or bad, for them all. This does allow her a slight advantage in the field as she is able to replenish much of her mixes on the fly, but tends to avoid doing so in active combat. Unfortunately Cosette has poor situational awareness, and tends to focus on a single target at a time, and is not always aware of when allies are in trouble unless they grab her attention.


Name: Unnamed

Description: A simple brown leather satchel bag filled with Cosetteís potions, poisons, and other mixes. Measuring 13X17x7Ē and possessing several secondary pouches, Cosette can carry about 10-12 vials of her smaller mixes and about 5 of her grenades. As well as the ingredients and tools to make a few more on the fly. While she is capable of creating a vast amount of mixes, she only keeps a few most common ones on hand at all times.

Liquid Aura: A potion that does not actually replenish oneís aura supply, but stimulates the bodyís regenerative abilities, much like their own aura would. Can be used to speed healing along faster than aura could alone.

Knockout Juice: Technically a medical poison. Capable of sedating a severely wounded person so that they may be treated or transported. Must be ingested by mouth to work, so it is unsuited for combat.
Combat Stimulants: A mix of adrenaline boosting and pain relieving agents administered in a syringe to boost a patient's combat potential, or allow one to continue past their breaking point. Excessive doses is usually fatal.   

Flash Bang: Small, thrown explosives and detonate with a blinding flash and loud noise, but little force.
    Smoke Grenades: Another thrown explosive that releases a dense cloud of acrid smoke that obscures an enemyís vision and deters pursuit by irritating the eyes, nose, and lungs with a healthy dose of sulfur.

History: Just a basic satchel Cosette found while shopping one day.

Name: Little Thumper

Description: A simple 12 gauge sawed off, pump action, shotgun with an 8 round clip. Capable of various dust augmented shells, Cosette typically prefers to load fire or force rounds, with a healthy portion of solid slugs for targets with thicker armor.

History:[/u] Developed at Signal as an homage to her fatherís own massive automatic shotgun named Thumper. Due to her inability to handle such a large weapon, Cosette developed hers to be smaller and lighter. The little version of Thumper.

Since Fosan culture does not view emotional and physical relationships as being related subjects, there is no real stigma associated with same sex pairings. So long as the individuals involved still contribute to genetic diversity. Typically through natural means.

I do have plans to address the occasional outlier that does not want to contribute naturally, but that requires medical advancements by Mistral, which seems to still be in the air at the moment.

As for the subject of Pilum, Chiu would likely appreciate the sense of efficiency she would get from them, but she is not really sure how she feels about caste systems.

She understands why an assigned role is necessary for some societies, but having a role set does not allow much in terms of personal development.

Sure, but that requires: getting up, leaving the class (both of which would be disruptive,) going to the restroom, taking care of things, reentering the class, and sitting down (again distrupting class.) Things are much easier and more efficient her way.

Chiu doesn't mind cute things, but she prefers practicality over looks.

For the most part. She understands that certain... group activities can be distracting and distruptive during lectures. Since she has different definitions of modesty and obsenity than the Valish standard she doesn't understand why, if she doesn't make noise or distrupt the class, she can't take care of things on her own.

Being forced to sit through a class horny means she is going to be antsy, unable to focus, and miss more of a lesson than she would if they would just let her deal with it as needed.

I was already well aware of your past, Mabi, but since Gus had said you wished to redeem yourself, I was complicit in allowing you to wipe the slate clean. A decision I knew I would eventually regret, yet even I am amazed at how quickly you made that happen.

Since it is obvious you are having difficulty in understanding the difference between what was allowed then and what is allowed now, allow me to break it down for you.

The rules changed.

As I am sure even that will be difficult for you to understand let us cut out all the fuss and get down to the brass tacks.

I don't care.

I don't care that you are a returning user. I don't care what you were allowed before. I don't care you had already spoken to Gus about this.

I am the one saying you cannot have an airship. I am the one saying you cannot have a shield large enough to protect a small building. You don't like it? Too damn bad.

I am revoking the +1 for the following reasons.

  • Semblance: The size and strength is far passed what I would approve for any character regardless of character age, or trust in the player. A dome shield measuring 9x6 feet would be pushing it, let alone meters.
  • While vehicles are allowed to students, a private airships is something that the staff will only allow to those users who we can trust with special items and/or abilities. You are still too new to be gain something like that.
  • At 24 years old, she would be several years older than her entire class, and would have either started three years later that everyone else, or have been attending Beacon for nearly 7 years.

Occupation: 1st year Beacon Student

Appearance: Chiu

Moderately tall at 5í10Ē(178cm) with an athletic build and broad shoulders. large blue eyes and a small round nose sit atop an oval shaped face framed by dark black hair cut in a shoulder length bob. Due to the need to wear sunglasses in combat, Chiu is rarely seen without a pair. Regardless of location or time of day.

Chiuís styling choice tend towards various short sleeve, or sleeveless, tops under a dark track jacket and jeans. Her typical casual outfit consists of a white sleeveless tee under a black jacket with red stripes at the sleeves. The collar, hem, and cuffs are a solid patch of red, and her emblem is embroidered over the left breast. With this, she also wears a pair of tattered blue jeans and short top sneakers in blue.

Chiu also possesses several tees from a line of designs that feature cartoon parodies of grimm, typically the severed heads, and funny phrases. These tend to be her favorite items of clothing and while she does possess duplicates she does not like wearing them under her armor, just in case.

History: Chiu was born into a notable family within Foshan, a small village in western Tempest. Closed off and isolated few people would be aware of Foshan as anything more than one of the countless other tried and failed bastions of civilization that had been attempted outside the borders of the various kingdoms. However, this village of a dozen or so families is also home to a pseudo military sect that has trained to eliminate the creatures of grimm for as long as anyone can remember.

Like nearly everyone else born into the village, Chiu has trained in the various aspects of hunting from a very young age. Though, because of the isolated nature of the village, dust is a rare commodity and is a subject Chiu is not well versed in. Itís use reserved for only the most experienced hunters and in only the most dire situations.

By the age of 14, a full year later than the traditional age, Chiu had demonstrated enough skill to be allowed to accompany hunting groups when they traveled outside the compound walls. She took to the position well, quickly earning a reputation for her skill in combat as well as an eagerness to learn. Both of these could be traced to the presence of the girlís older half-brother. One Ce Lam Hung. Six years her senior, Ce was a skilled and accomplished hunter by the time Chiu had been allowed to further her training, and was just as eager to teach his baby sister as she was to learn from him. 

For two years Chiu trained and worked under her brother. As close as the siblings were, they demonstrated an almost psychic connection when they fought alongside each other. Able to react to the otherís actions and setup openings without a single word spoken. Eventually the pair earned a reputation as miracle siblings. A sign that future generations of hunters from Foshan would be legendary warriors.

Tragedy struck, however, a few months after Chiuís 16th birthday. Whilst out on a hunt, tracking a pack Beowolves that had been probing Foshanís borders, Chiuís party was ambushed by a King Taijitu. After a long and hard battle that saw every member of the team wounded to some degree, the grimm lay dead. However, one of the two heads had managed to sink itís fangs into Ceís side shortly after the hunterís aura had been all but depleted. The wounds soon began to fester as some kind of venom or corruption was draining Ceís aura faster than his body could restore it, preventing the aura from healing the deep punctures.

Giving up the hunt, the group quickly brought Ce back to Foshan and into the compounds medical center. Despite using all the medical knowledge at the villageís disposal, they were unable to restore even a fragment of the hunterís once abundant aura. Ce languished for several days, Chiu ever at his side. His parents there nearly as often. Death was always a conscious concern in Foshan. While it was not an everyday occurrence for a hunter to fall in battle, it was something the population kept well in mind. But this was different, for one so promising to not only fall at a young age and refused a clean deathÖ this was not something easily accepted.

Grimm incursions seemed to skyrocket in the wake of Ceís wounding, drawn to the village by the concentration of negative emotions there. Ce finally succumbed to his wounds nine days after the failed hunt, but not before he was able to speak to his sister one last time. Fearing for Chiuís safety, he asked her to give up her training a live a normal life. One away from the dangers that had ended his own life.

Unable to refuse her brother, Chiu agreed, but secretly struggled with the idea. He was asking her to give up everything she had ever known. Yes there were risks, that fact was clearer now than it ever had been before, but those risks would always be taken. If not by her, then by someone else. She could not ask someone else to take those risks for her when she had the strength to shoulder them herself.

A couple days after Ceís burial, Chiu came up with a compromise of sorts. Ce had wanted her to experience a normal life, Chiu wanted her training to mean something. To that end Chiu asked for, and was given, permission to test into one of the four kingdomís advanced combat schools. Haven in Mistral seemed the obvious choice, yet something made Haven not seem like a fitting choice. Haven was too close to home. Too easily discarded if things got difficult. Vale would be the better option. Attending Beacon would allow her to experience more of the world without the safety net of home to fall back on, yet still allow her to continue her training.

Months passed and Chiu eventually found herself within the kingdom of Vale, just outside the gates of Beacon academy. Having not attended any of the primary combat schools, let alone one of the ones in Vale, Chiu was required to pass a series of qualification tests in order to attend classes. When the designated time came, Chiu found the exams to be much more difficult than she had expected. Most of all, the knowledge test. Even the practical combat exam was a struggle at times. Chiuís mind still had not fully recovered from her recent loss.


Personality: Chiuís basic personality is one that often seems at odds with itself. On the one hand, she understands the necessity of training the young to fight so that they can risk their lives for ďthe greater good.Ē Yet, on the other, she wants to fulfill her brotherís final wish and live the life of a normal teenaged girl. This makes her something of a socially awkward introvert, as she finds herself focusing on her training and struggling to overcome cultural and social differences she does not quite understand

Due to the, relatively, limited nature of her early social life; Chiu, like any developing teen, struggles to understand her place in life. An issue exacerbated by Vale and, to a lesser degree, Beacon academyís lack of a clear social hierarchy that was so prevalent in Foshan. There, a personís standing was defined by their martial rank. Everyone knew their place and the place of everyone around them. Here, oneís standing was something as vague and fleeting as wind, if it existed at all. It is an idea Chiu often finds herself in odds with.

Another aspect of her native culture Chiu often finds clashing with the Valish mentalities is the concept of open and casual physical relationships. Due to Foshanís smaller population and constant need to raise and train future hunters without causing a bloodline to become stagnate, emotional connections are the driving force behind a family structure while sex and reproduction are seen as something utilitarian in nature. One could, and often would, find themselves in bed with a random partner one moment, yet return home to their spouse later in the day to find them midcoitus and have no negative emotions arise from said events. By anyone involved.

Chiu tries to keep the, relatively, prudish Valish nature in mind, but it is not uncommon for her to forget that casual sex is not an acceptable way to alleviate boredom while she is attending Beacon. At least, outside her dorm room.

Aura and Semblance: Chiuís semblance is known as radiance. By focusing her aura on a single point an inch or two from her body, Chiu forms a ball of light that, when detonated, releases a bright flash of light. Chiuís favored way of employing Radiance is to charge at her enemy and direct the ball over her right palm, extending her arm out towards her target, and using the back of that hand to help shield her vision from some of the flash. Her sunglasses also help to protect her vision, but neither method completely protects her from the more powerful blasts. To counter this Chiu rarely uses stronger burst from the front, and briefly closes her eyes when she has to use them.

Given enough time to charge, and enough aura to power the charge, Chiu is able charge her entire aura field and detonate a full body Radiance. This method is highly dangerous, however, as it can not only blind both her enemies and herself, but can also blind her allies if they are close enough and do not take adequate precautions.

Theoretically Radiance would be subject to dust augmentation via catalyst foci. However, as doing so would take away from the religious symbolism a light based semblance uses, Chiu does not do so since the book of light is not exactly clear on such things.

Combat Behavior: A mix of Baguazhan and Wing Chun, Chiuís fighting style is an aggressive, multi directional, style that focuses on speed over raw power. Multi-directional does not mean she is capable of attacking from multiple places at once, but attacking to multiple places at once. For instance, instead of just striking towards an opponentís head from the right, Chiu is more likely to accompany that strike with a low angled kick from the left or target the head, chest, and legs in quick succession. Because of her focus on speed over power, Chiu suffers from a lack of pure physical strength.

Having grown used to a partner who could react to her, and augment her abilities without needing her to do anything, Chiu tends to assume her teammates will do things without her needing to tell them what needs to be done. This can prove dangerous to both them and herself as they can be in a position she does not expect when she attacks, or she can leave an opening she does not know they canít cover. 


Name: Lianou

Primary Form: A double headed crescent blade spearhead 1 foot(30cm)in length topping a thick wooden shaft measuring 6í3Ē(185cm)long, giving the weapon a total length of 7í3Ē(215cm). A rotating dust chamber is located within the shaft, allowing Chiu to select any number of loaded dust cartridges in order to augment the spear with the associated dust effect.

Secondary Form: In Lianouís secondary form, the head detaches from the shaft, but remains connected via a 2í(69cm) long flexible section of braided metal chain. In this form, Lianou is more similar in function to a long two-handed flail than a spear, but is better suited for crowd control over the spear form

History: Lianou is the latest incarnation of various weapons Chiu has adopted or crafted over the years. This particular version was created by her father shortly after her decision to attend classes at Beacon rather than Haven.

To reiterate the previous comment, as stated in the species section of the character rules, all aquatic faunus types are banned.

Prohibited Base Animal Types: Arthropods, Molluscs, Aquatic, Amphibian, Dinosaurs(Along with anything extinct for more than 200 years), Mythological creatures

You will need to change the faunus type and edit the profile to reflect said changes before it can be considered for approval.
