Teams / Re: Looking for a 1st year Beacon team
« on: Today at 05:44:52 AM »
I currently have Camelia and Helena not on an actual team.

After a brief moment, Camelia shook off her daze and looked at the closest screen displaying both combatants' Aura. She felt both relieved and worried from what she saw; she was still in the yellow, but her opponent's Aura bar was comepletely empty. She rapidly scrambled out of the dirt mund now surrounding her, fumbling a bit as she did so.

As Orion took back its standard form, Camelia started striding to where her (now ex-) enemy lay. Hanging her shield on her back, she realized the sheer amount of destruction that'd been wrought upon the arena: over half of the frozen side was torn apart one way or another, dirt and ice mixing in a chaotic combo while pillars were sprawled on the ground like so many fallen trees. A good portion of the other side's marsh was frozen solid and what hadn't been pulverized by the giant chunk of ice Camelia threw earlier was almost entirely on fire.

Navigating the terrain proved mildly difficult, but she eventually made it to the girl's side. Careful to not get on the chains, she knelt down besides her, rather worried. "Hey, uh, you okay?

Helena took a second or so before realizing someone'd just talked to her, even if Red had raised his head when the feminine voice'd made itself heard. She shook off the momentary confusion and turned towards the source of the sound. Her face positively lit up, beaming sunshine everywhere in sight. "Diana! Of course I remember you!, she happily exclaimed. Scooting over to make some space on the table's bench, she continued with "Of course you can! I was just looking up previous injuries and trying to deal with them in my head."

Someone else may have had a slightly less glowing expression when talking about injuries, but Helena was not someone else. She placed her scroll on the table, between Diana and herself's positions, then activated the holo-screen, making the video pop out of the scroll itself and into the air at a the size of a decent laptop.

She'd barely settled into her new seat that someone else approached and said a bright, cheerful 'Hello'. Helena rapidly replied in kind. "Hello! We're looking at injuries in the previous Vytal Tourney and dealing with them ourselves! Sorta!"

Kari uncoiled a bit and peeked out of Helena's collar(s), wondering who and/or what was these new sounds close by, curious to see and smell those responsible.

Brock listened to Zaffre, then to Diana's short retelling of her childhood, careful to not accidentally inhale his food in a more literal fashion. She then briefly left, then came back with what felt like a single bite of food in her plate. Good choice, though. As Janna commented on the taller duo's eating habits, Brock took the time to mutter a low, reverberating "Damn right.

He also didn't miss Diana's continued speech, nodding in assent at her conclusions. As Janna pitched in as well, he resumed nodding - but only for a brief moment. Stopping his consumption of kilocalories, he made a T sign with his hands while he finished chewing and swallowing the mouthful of food that was being processed. "Hol' up. I don't got no ranged capabilities right now. I don' have the money to pay for the ammo Uloe guzzles on my own.

And yeah, guess all things considered, we did pretty bloody decent, didn't we?

Helena squinted a bit, leaning ever so slightly closer to her scroll's screen. Sat at a table within the common area of Amity, she'd gotten wind of this edition's new rules. This'd made her look up what exactly happened last time around that would cause such new legislation to be implemented. And boy, had she found the jackpot.

Turns out that two years prior, several competitors had been injured with varying levels of severity - some in odd circumstances that were not uncommonly dubbed 'suspicious'. Her medical curiosity had been piqued and, after a quick search for the Tourney camera archives, she'd started to run through the various occurrences, attempting to observe, diagnose and treat the wounds she stumbled across - in a hypothetical fashion, of course. She wasn't exactly a time traveler.

While she was far less armed than she usually was when going on a mission (due to not being on a mission), Helena still has Seikatsu at her waist. Better safe than sorry, as they say. Add to this the VASTLY different climate of Atlas and she had coat and boots on her person, as well. Red laid atop her feet, largely hidden from curious passerbys underneath the table, while Kari was loosely wound around her neck, taking in as much heat as it could nestled between the warm skin and the insulating coat.

At the moment, she was flicking through several angles paused shortly before the occurrence of the first injury of the Vytal Festival held in Vale.

ME, ME! (feel free to choose any of my Beacon chars, tbh)

Quite honestly, Camelia didn't think dodging her well was feasible at such ranges. Unless you took drastic measures, like using a suitable semblance to propel yourself out of the way or something equally extreme, as just attempting to move out of the way normally would get you nowhere but within the well's pull real quick-like. Turns out, she was right. but also wrong, as her enemy shot out a beam of shockwave directly underneath herself, rocketing upwards as the ground below erupted into a mix of ice, rock and debris.

A fair portion of the ejecta immediately turned towards the well as it whizzed past, replacing the stuff that'd been previously trailing it but whose motions were disrupted by the boom. The rest of the flying dirt, rocks and ice surged preferentially towards Camelia in a veritable tidal wave of due brown with grey spots. She barely had the time to turn Orion into its secondary form and fire off a shockwave of its own before it reached her. The shockwave sent out by the shield managed to either stop dead or push back most of what it encountered, but the parts of the wave closest to her and slightly to the sides being outside of its range, they continued unhindered, pummeling her as they came to a gradual halt.

I just try to make it work with the present character.

See ya around, buddy! You were lots of fun to RP and discuss with. Wish you the best success in your endeavours.

Watching her opponent, Camelia saw that she stopped using her chains as a shield in order to have a better... uh, traction? What surprised her, however, was that the enemy managed to, excruciatingly slowly, move out of the way of her gravity well and was in the process of circling around it. As impressive as it was to resist the pull, no. No, you were not. Camelia promptly enacted her contingency plan in the event of a successful(result pending) escape attempt and the gravity well suddenly shot forward right towards the chain wielder, dragging a slew of broken ice behind itself.

Camelia took a deep breath almost out of reflex, the strain and concentration necessary for maintaining the well gone.

(Gravity well goes directly towards Sam at 100 m/s ripping apart nearby ice as it goes, ice shrapnel of all sizes trailing behind the well: more damage)

Take Brock along for a mobile, Dust-less battering ram.

Was that King or Calen, I can't tell

Weathering the - quite literal - ice storm without much effort, Camelia peeked from behind her shield again. Damn. The match hadn't stopped and her opponent was still hanging on (presumably) for dear life. This called for some more... involved measures.

For the first few instants, nothing changed. After about half a second, the well slowly accelerated, although all that could be seen was that the raging ball of ice shards, chunks and other partially lethal paraphernalia was moving; the well itself was obscured. Nevertheless, it began making steady progress towards Camelia's target, closing in the gap at the blistering speed of half a foot a second, ripping up more of the floor as its tidal forces pulled on undamaged portions. Still concentrating, she began preparing to launch it towards the enemy if they made an escape attempt.

At the mention of a card game he'd neither heard of or played before, Nathan's face became completely and utterly neutral. What the hell was thirty-one? Was it anything like twenty-one/blackjack? Why was Kin nibbling on a muffin like a rodent nibbles on a wad of cheese?

He turned to Izzy as, incidentally, the latter turned to Nathan and was met with an exceedingly familiar look - his own face was probably sporting a similar expression, right down to the mask's stillness. His teammate's eyes were a dead giveaway, though. As he appeared to... resign? himself to his fate, he moved towards the others. Nathan, on the other hand, didn't move from his chair (and also didn't move his chair), in true Nathan fashion.

Things were going swell.

I don't know about the smith thing, but Nathan's (my character) semblance was hidden from basically everyone but his teammates until he participated in the Vytal Festival tournament. So yes, as long as they're secretive enough about it and depending on the semblance's nature, it's entirely feasible to keep it a secret. Same goes for weapons.
