Cyrus nodded with approval as he watched the members of his new team make their way across the river. Nathan and Pyre with more confidence and grace but even the more timid Tina seemed to recover quickly enough from her short flight.

'OK good job guys, shouldn't be much longer now.'

Cyrus called out and after waiting a short while for everyone to bunch up continued leading the way towards the forest. Their surroundings steadily got less dense as the forest seemed to grow younger in age. It may have been centuries ago but these woods had once been cleared and used for farming and roads. The ruins they where seeking had to be close.

As the team went deeper into this newer part of the woods small pieces of evidence of previous habitation appeared; cobblestone covered and revealed a dozen times by the elements and mounds of earth too uniform in appearance to be natural where scattered around the path PCNT took. This combined with the reduction in noise made the whole situation seem earie and every far off bird cry seem even more dangerous. Eventually the team finally came towards an opening behind some of the more well preserved masonry, this was the most likely place the relics lay that the party had seen so far. Eager to be finished with the mission and be back to civilisation Cyrus went to move through to the opening unless he would be stopped by his new team.

Ayaka wanted action. It had been weeks since she last got into a fight and even that one ended in less than a second. Grimm, a roudy student, anything would suffice, really. She scratched her head as she walked, really wishing she landed somewhere with more visibility. Would her annoyance attract grimm? Who knows, she wasn't really all too sure how grimm attraction worked, but if it did at least she'd be able to cut something down.

Hearing shuffling nearby she drew her sword in a flash. A grimm? Her sulking did work after all! Running in the direction of the sound she readied to swing only to come face to face with...a lizard? Or rather, a girl with a purple scarf, holding a lizard. Were pets allowed during initiations? Whatever, it wasn't an enemy and she was the first person she saw. And that lizard was looking pretty cute...Shaking her head, Ayaka sheathed her sword and cocked her head to the side, leering at Iris.

"First person I run into and it's some kid collecting critters." Ayaka said, turning away while clenching her fist. She had to resist the urge to inspect the little critter, she had an image to keep. "Guess I'm stuck with you now, according to these stupid rules. Come on, let's look for something to fight, all this walking is going to put me to sleep."

Nathan patiently waited in position, hands on the ground, as his teammates carried themselves to the other side, with varying degrees of success. He occasionally glanced around and most specifically behind himself - the river's din could've easily washed out a Grimm's approach. Thankfully, no such thing occurred.

Before long, Pyre was giving him a big thumbs up and striding along, presumably to join up with the Faunus further in. This left him with plenty of space to work with on the other side of the river, most of which he'd probably need. Wordlessly, he shifted his back's position a bit as a last-second aim adjustment and took off.

And took off he did. Ergia's jetpack function flashed to life, a streak of light leaving the bottom of the cylinder - immediately sending Nathan airborne over the river. He was functioning more with planning than reaction, here; he'd guesstimated about a quarter of a second's worth of jetpacking would be enough to send him safely over and he was, thankfully, right. Ergia once again inert after turning off just around the peak of Nathan's trajectory, not even half a second after lift off, he received himself into roll after roll on the destination side, far beyond the muddy parts of the riverbank.

Once he'd lost enough momentum from rolling forwards over and over, he unfurled himself and stood up, dusting off his forearms, elbows and knees of some of the dirt that had smeared itself on during landing. He took Ergia out of its harness with his left hand and turned it back into staff mode, looking back to where he came from for his teammates as it extended. The large musical man was standing about a dozen or so metres behind him. Wordlessly, with no emotion visibly upon his face (nor any present upon his mind), he simply held up his right hand in salutation.

She allowed herself a few seconds to catch her breath while hanging from her treetop vantage point. After a few failed attempts to look through the trees to see if there were any grimm or students nearby, she started to climb and drop her way down the tree trunk.

Once her feat finally made contact with solid ground she once again scoured the immediate area. As some of the adrenaline from the fall started to leave her system she started to calm down, still very nervous but not falling to your death nervous. Confident that there were no grimm about to jump her she pulled the bolt of her rifle back and loaded an ice crystal before starting to make her way into the woods.

Desperately hoping to find someone to partner up with quickly she focused on listening for sounds of combat, but there was only the occasional sound from off in the distance and each originating from different directions, nothing she could realistically follow. She could bearly make out the cliffs through the tree canopy, she had been towards the end of the launch pads so logically most people should be to her right as she stood on the cliff. Admittedly that logic could be deeply flawed by any number of variables, but it was better than nothing. After a few minutes of sneaking through the undergrowth she could hear something approaching her, gripping her weapon firmly she began to approach as well.

With the cutting of her thruster, Pyre waiting a moment after dropping off Tina before landing herself. In a semi-controlled manner, she tumbled along the ground giving herself a nice coating of dirt and loose foliage in the process. Eventually coming to a stop, Pyre popped onto her feet and let out an audible "Phew!" as she patted herself down as best as she could. Considering it was her first time even attempting a lift, Pyre was thankful that it was as successful as it was despite the rough landings for the both of them, although Tina clearly didn't feel the same way. Pyre jogged on over to her, helping to clear what she could of the remaining mud as well as verifying that all her equipment seemed there.

"Don't worry, I'll work on it." With Tina's belongings seemingly in place, Pyre smiled and gave a go-ahead thumbs-up to Nathan before turning to follow Cyrus.

Despite expecting a response from her teammates, Tina still jumped slightly when Pyre patted her on the shoulder. Internally, though, she was grateful that Pyre volunteered instead of the two boys. She just...didn't think she was ready for that yet. Cyrus was the one to take off first, but she barely registered his flight as her wide eyes were fully focused on whatever Pyre's plan was. As she ran off and jumped on her rocket-powered broomstick, Tina mentally prepared herself for what was about to happen, slowly backing away in the opposite direction towards the river.

For a few seconds, Tina was worried Pyre would stall mid-ascent since she was doing nothing but go up at a scarily rapid pace, but clearly she underestimated the broom's horsepower as Pyre did an about-turn and zoomed back towards the ground with ease. As she came closer, Tina noticed she was holding a hand out and gulped, but raised her own as high as possible. The next moment, her arm felt like it was being yanked out of its socket as her feet left the ground. She couldn't help screaming a little as it seemed like they were going to crash into the trees on the opposite end, but the part of her brain that wasn't overwhelmed felt Pyre's grip loosen as they crossed over and did the same.

Unlike Cyrus, the smaller girl stumbled and landed on all fours as she wasn't prepared for the impact, while Pyre presumably landed a touch more gracefully nearby. Thankfully, the ground was mostly mud and it softened what would otherwise be a more jarring landing, though she had to wipe the mud off on some foliage nearby. "N-never again, please..." she managed to stammer, patting her waist to check if either of her revolvers had fallen out somehow.

Yasha walked for what felt like hours in the forest, though his pocket device indicated only about thirty minutes had passed since he landed.  He had kept a straight path all during this time, so he was pretty confident that he was walking in the right direction - that is, the direction towards the ruins he saw earlier.  Still, the thought of going in the wrong direction, or even walking around in circles lingered in his mind and bothered him.  Forward ahead, the forest seemed to grow thicker and darker, as less and less light appeared to pierce through the tree canopy.

Thinking that now might be perhaps his last chance to get a gauge on his direction, he drew his scythe and held it out in front of him.  Taking the handle in both of his hands, he lowered the scythe a little, preparing himself.  As before, he focused and poured his semblance into the blade.  A moment later, he flung the scythe high into the air above himself, the weapon spinning like a pinwheel as it did before during his landing.  The scythe rocketed up past the tree canopy, a fair distance in the air above him.  When it had reached what he believed to be its apogee, he activated his semblance.  Once again, the muscular shadowy figure of his semblance took hold of the scythe handle.  Closing his eyes, Yasha focused on his semblance to see through it.

He could see the ruins again.  It looked like he was traveling in the right direction...but...did the ruins somehow seem farther than they should be?  But, he didn't have much time to dwell on it, the scythe was falling back down towards the forest floor again.  He released his concentration, and the semblance construct retreated back into the scythe.  Yasha watched as the scythe fell into some more trees a short distance away.  That wasn't a problem though.  In the blink of an eye, Yasha was already standing near the scythe, stuck blade first in the ground.  Pulling his weapon out of the ground, he kept going forward, his direction towards the ruins confirmed.

The giant gave Nathan a nod as he explained his own way of getting over the river. Cyrus was curious at how the other boy planned to get across but it seemed he would have to wait to see how his weapon would be involved. That left Tina as the only one who didn't have an obvious way to get over the river and after she quietly requested help.

"Can someone give me a lift?"

Cyrus shrugged and checked his dust reserves doing some basic calculations in his head, Tina didn't look like she weighed much so it shouldn't be that much more. But as Cyrus was doing his preparations Pyre spoke up saying that she would take Tina across.

"I gotcha, get ready!"

The giant was initially annoyed at, in his mind, Pyre's interruption. Tina was his partner and therefore in his eyes his responsibility but so now the more reasonable side of his mind won out, they are all part of a team and they all have a responsibility for each other. Stepping away from Tina to allow Pyre space to approach from any direction Cyrus got ready for his own short flight.

"You're welcome to play Taxi Pyre, I'll go over first, easier for me to get back alone so I can check if its safe."

Cyrus remarked a little bitterness still colouring his voice. The Peacock Faunus quickly took to the air, utilising his personal mixture of wind, fire and gravity dust or 'fly dust' as he called it to accelerated quickly across the river with a few flaps of his enormous azure coloured wings. After landing Cyrus sank a little in the soft mud but quickly moved away from the bank both to give the other members of his team more space to land as well as getting away from the sounds of the roaring river. In the dense forest and Tina still back on the other side of the river sound was their best detection method for Grimm and the giant felt pretty vulnerable without it. After a moment or two Cyrus was satisfied that no one had leaped out and attacking his yet meant that it was probably safe.

"OK all clear, lets get a move on people."

Cloe had been hoping for something incredible, and her new teammates delivered spectacularly. As she watched the remaining Grimm get pulverized in a blitz of ice and fire, she couldn't help but stand there in awe with a huge smile on her face. Things had been a little rough at the start, but at the end of it all, she couldn't have asked for a more wicked outcome than this. Oh, her team was going to be awesome. Unable to contain her enthusiasm, Cloe jumped in the air and let out a joyous shriek. She hit the ground running, immediately turning into a high-speed blur of electric excitement that raced to the end of the clearing and back in just a few short seconds. As the other students gathered, she zipped towards them and skidded to a halt, doing her best to keep still and silent until Lucas was done speaking. All the while, she still bounced in place on her feet, unable to shake the smile from her expression.

Now that they weren't in the middle of combat, Cloe was able to get her first good look at the other two that had come to their aid. Being too judgmental was a problem that the young woman had often struggled with, but her ecstatic mood was keeping her first impressions very positive for the time being.

Juno... Well, he was hot. Then there was Prism. Cloe was digging her style, and those wings were just too cool. Even Lucas-- whom she had slandered with the name 'lamp boy' just a brief minute ago-- was already growing on her. Maybe he was a little awkward, but that could totally be fixed. As soon as he finished his introduction, Cloe stepped up to give her own, proudly pointing a thumb at herself.

"Cloe Z.! That's me! You guys killed it out there." She spoke with confidence, although she did make a conscious decision to avoid saying her last name. She didn't want to automatically associate herself with her family's business and then be judged solely as a privileged rich girl...

Still, anyone paying attention would have been able to piece together that she came from money. One glance at her highly-advanced prosthetic arms with a glowing green 'Z' logo on the shoulder gave that much away, let alone if they recognized it as a product of Zeu's Robotics. She was not being nearly as slick as she had hoped.

If Lucas could read minds, he'd have to agree with Prism's assessment: The teamwork of this random group of students had so far been nothing short of efficient. Sure, part of that had been the unspoken agreement to go along with the first plan presented, but the fact that each of them had slipped into appropriate roles almost immediately can only be described as astounding.

Beyond their teamwork, however, were the results. Lucas had always avoided fighting Grimm, preferring to circumvent them even when they appeared in small numbers. He'd really only ever fight to either buy time or to divert attention from something else, never to exterminate.

In other words, this had been his first ever fight to the death. And it had been a total victory, punctuated by a massive eruption of flames that reduced the monsters to ash. Perhaps in time he would realize that the strategy the team just used was thrown together in the heat of battle, which meant it could be improved upon and experimented with. With time, that improvised teamwork that led to the annihilation of a pack of Beowolves might even become a signature play! Such was the power Lucas had just witnessed.

At the moment though, Lucas could only focus on the victory that seconds before had him fearing for the worst. As the flames died out and took the howls of the beasts with them, the only thing Lucas could say was, "Whoa."

It took the other boy calling out to him for Lucas to shake out of his reverie. That's right. He was still in a dangerous forest. Just because he killed a few Grimm doesn't mean more won't come.

Unaware that Juno's eyes and ears had already done so, Lucas began to scan the area for himself, though he also found nothing. For the moment, it seemed they were safe.

With that in mind, Lucas deflated, the tension in his muscles quickly being replaced with fatigue. Who knew combat situations could be so exhausting?! Nevertheless, Lucas took a deep breath and began to introduce himself.

"Right, uh, guess we're stuck with each other now," He started, clipping his weapon back onto his belt. "I'm Lucas. Lucas Meridiem. You've probably guessed already, but I'm a dust caster. I can also act as a sniper if need be. My semblance...," he trailed off, not sure how to explain the intricacies of his admittedly complicated power in a concise manner. "Well, the simple version is that it enhances the effects of dust. It's easier to understand when you see it in action."

It was definitely a stiff introduction, but since they were gonna be stuck together for at least the remainder of this initiation, he figured they should at least know what his capabilities are. Also, well...

"Uh, do you all mind giving your names again? With all the fighting going on, I kinda missed some of the details."
