A Chat with Asterisk
« on: September 13, 2016, 12:54:56 AM »
You are on the deck of a Yamato class super-battleship with the afternoon sun hanging lazily overhead partially covered by the clouds, anchored in the middle of the ocean. At the bow, a lone girl with mid-length light brown hair sits at a small metal table. A single chair opposite to her is already pulled out, as if waiting for you. In front of her is a white porcelain teapot with a picture of a plum branch on it and two cups on saucers of similar design. "Come, please sit." She says as she pours the chrysanthemum tea into the cups. "So, feel free to ask anything about me." Finishing the pour, she rests her hands on the table.

The feeling of having these out-of-the-world kinds of interactions along with a love for writing and developing a character using pre-made rules and conventions. Especially when said rules and conventions give a lot of leeway to think up a wide variety of concepts and how every part of the character can fit together like a puzzle. At least I try to.

What's it feel like when you work on your music, and what got you into that world? Sorry, I know it's not a author-related question, but the musical arts are something I'm terrible at despite loving their end product, so I'm always curious how people like you pull it off.
Seek Justice, Love Mercy, and walk humbly with your God.

What's it feel like when I work on my music? That depends. Some days, it's easy, which I call "working in the zone", when I can just sit down and continuously work for hours on end, usually producing a result by the afternoon. Other days, it's hard to think of ideas, so I'll move onto something else like programming. Just things like the temperature, the sun coming in through the window, when I slept last night, and when I woke up in the morning, they all play important roles in whether I can concentrate on the audio workstation well.

I also enjoy the aspect of putting different sounds together and feeling victorious when it comes together, like a mini-celebration in my mind after solving a puzzle (Although many of my songs and remixes use a very similar melody). However, I tend to keep listening to what I had just made for a long time and being not productive in that sense.

My brother (DJ Name: Sanaas) was the one who initially got me into musical arts and taught me how to produce music.

Do you feel there's a theme that you work into all of your characters, consciously or otherwise? Or do you feel like they're all diverse?

All my characters have some part of me, or those in my life whom I can relate to. Also, they are all helpful to others around them because I enjoy seeing progress and development. Of course, I also try to make them diverse and while many of them are related biologically in some way, they all come from very different backgrounds and have different personalities but are still able to become friends with one another.

Another thing is that I love making comical inter-character conversations with their different personalities. I know some may think that this takes away from the fun of roleplaying with others, but it gives me full control of the conversations to make them as fun to read as I can for others and allowing their characters to be entertained by the drama.
