A Slow Start [Open]
« on: January 22, 2017, 08:27:39 PM »
For most people, their first day at Huntsman Academy was one of the most exciting and important moments of their life. A brand new chapter for them to discover more about themselves and their place in the world, make new friends, and grow up to be respectable Huntsmen and Huntresses. For most students, sure. For the one incoming student named Glas Mossberg however, it all looked very much like the inside of his eyelids.

He had taken the airship from Mistral to Vale to start his first year at Beacon, but compared to the other students flying along with him and marveling at the academy dominating the skyline before them it seemed as if he couldn't have cared less where the ship was taking him. Not that was entirely his fault, though. The window seat that he had taken was positioned just right to catch all of the warm sun shining through it, it would have made anyone sleepy. Especially someone decked out in a large green hooded coat.

The young man even stayed asleep during the ships descent to Beacon's landing platform, where he was jostled awake by the ship making contact with the ground once more. "W-wha?" Glas asked groggily as he leaned up from the headrest. "Dang, trip didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would. Figured I'd get a few z's before dropping in..." The surrounded students were excitedly piling out of the ship with their belongings and making their way towards the school, while Glas himself slowly trudged behind with a lone tote bag slung over his shoulder.

A large yawn greeted the afternoon sun, and thankfully his hood kept most of it out of his eyes as he gazed at Beacon Academy in all its glory. "...Okay uh, now where do I go. There's got to be a... ah what's it called. Map or schedule or something, right?" A quick look around him revealed that... No. no, there was not. There was the crowd of people already making their way, but since he hadn't listened to anyone on his trip (on account of being asleep) He didn't even know if any of them were in the same year as him.

"...Crud."

This was the day Akeldama had waited for, years of training and pure determination to make it into Beacon. So much so that she had actually didn't get any sleep last night, too much going around in head about all of the fun times she would have with her team. She had heard muxh about the huntress schools from her mothers friends who also attended the prestigious school and she could not wait.

However she was fast asleep, her stance seemed normal enough, straight back, arms crossed and with her right leg over her left, her head was slightly forward and her fedora was tipped slightly forward just covering her eyes.  She was gently woken up by one of the other first years who was nice enough to make sure she didn't go back the way she came. A quiet "Thank you." escaped her lips as she got up,  Her extra clothing was down in the luggage section which was going to be handled by the staff (If the first volume of RWBY is to go by). She got off of the ramp of the airship and tried to look up before she was blinded by the sun. She tipped her hat so that her eyes were covered and glanced around and saw that one of the students seemed a bit lost.

"I think all of the first years are meant to be meeting at the auditorium." As she said that a passing beacon student gave a short "yep. It's over that way." and pointed in the direction of the aforementioned building. Akel gave a short wave to the passing senior before turning herself towards the boy. Golden eyes making themselves very known with an almost potent, yet casual look at the boys head. "Would you like to walk with me. Seems better then walking alone."

Glas wasn't the sort of guy to rush in towards a place he wasn't sure about, so he remained standing near the landing pad as he looked up at the academy. Its appearance was certainly as grand as everyone had said it was. Not to mention that Vale was pretty vastly different than how Mistral looked in almost every way. Yup, gonna take some getting used to. I'll have to find all new nap spots for starters, figure out the best places to climb and sleep, all that jazz. Oh, and probably do something about classes too, figure that's pretty important.

He had fully intended on asking one of the passersby about where to go, but that sunlight was just so warm and it would have been a great time to just take a little post-nap nap... Until his attention was interrupted by the sound of someone near him. Judging by her tone, it even seemed like she was talking to him.

Because she was.

"Huh? Oh... Cool. Thanks." Well there you go, Glas. Directions already, looks like I'm not going to have to find a map after all he thought as he nodded towards Akeldama. "Must have missed when they told us that, appreciate it." Still, he knew now. It would at least help save him from having to be late for his very first day of Huntsman training. The girl that filled him in on his destination then asked if he'd like to walk with her there, and Glas couldn't help but agree.

"Sure, fine with me. I'd probably end up getting lost anyway if I'm gonna be honest. 'Least this way I'll have someone else to get lost with, y'know?" he replied as he trudged along after Akeldama.

O.O.C: I'm having to post with my phone since I need a new fan for my laptop. It heats up REALLY FAST.

"I think the chances of us getting lost are probably 50/50. Give or take a few digits". Akel took a few steps forward before she turned on her heels, almost forgetting something that she thought was crucial.

She grabbed her fedora with her left hand, putting it behind her back, outstreching her right arm, bowing forward with her left leg passing by her right diagonally, she moved her head up to look him in the eyes and spoke with the tone that only someone regal could pull off.

"Akeldama Blood-Heart, at your service." With her little introduction done she almost went backwards on a video player, her movements the exact same as she started the bow. She placed her hat back on her head she gave a simple reply "Yours?"

(OoC: No worries!)

“Hey, I’ll take those odds. Kinda see things as 50/50 most of the time anyway. Either it happens or it doesn’t, y’know?” Of course, his math teachers had tried to explain that it wasn’t exactly as cut and dry as that, but there was a good chance that he had slept through those lessons.

A 50/50 chance, give or take.

Either way, it was pretty good to run into someone that knew what was going on already. Probably wouldn’t have made the first impression if he never actually showed up for the new student orientation.  Not to mention he… probably wouldn’t have known where anything else was either. This place definitely isn’t like home. With my luck I’ll turn a wrong corner and end up lost for days before I find anything again. Definitely don’t want to have to deal with that right now. Or at all, to be honest.

The two students took their first steps to head to the auditorium, or at least they were before Akeldama turned right on her heel and faced Glas with a bow. The whole thing was so smooth and extravagant that it must have been practiced for quite a while before getting it all down pat. By comparison, his own greeting was much more tame (and if he had to admit it: a little lame as well). “Yo” the dark-haired young man replied as he took a hand out of his pocket and waved slightly at her. “Glas Mossberg. Nice to meet ya, Akeldama.” He watched as she then proceeded to reverse everything she had just done and come to a stop next to him again. …Huh. That was something. “You from around these parts?”

"Yeah, born and raised in Vale. Sometimes I am often mistaken as Atlasien descent though most times they think so because of my skin tone and attitude. " Akel walked for a bit before she sought to bring up something. "You don't have to use my full name. Most people usually call me Akel, also "vampire" or "vampirea" was a rather common one back in Signal." Akel looked up at the sun and decided to ditch her coat, she undid the gold chains and when she took it off, folded it at the halfway length, then again, bringing it close to her chest and using her left arm to keep it folded while her right arm went under it, pressing it against her stomach so that she had it firmly with no chance of it getting away.

"Aren't you hot in that, the weather does seem a little overbearing today." Akel's genuine curiosity peaked out, then again she could never stand the heat so it could of just been herself.

"That so? Guess that's just my luck then, ain't it?" Can't get a better tour of a place than from someone who'd live there their whole life, after all. Unfortunately that didn't apply to him. Turned out that lazily pointing in a general direction and referring to it by names you made up yourself didn't exactly help people who weren't... well, yourself. "Never met an Atlasien before though, so no worries on me confusin' you."

'Course, there was the chance that he had and just couldn't recall it. He wouldn't have known unless they had walked up to him and annoucnced "Hello, my name is Blah, and I am from Atlas. How do you do?"

Glas reached a hand inside of his hood and scratched the side of his head as Akel mentioned that her friends used to call her... Vampire? "Okaaay... 'Akel', got it. Short and easy to remember, my favorite." First few minutes in Vale and I'm already meeting all kinda people, huh? ...Not sure if that's going to be an improvement over home or not just yet... Still, Akel hadn't given him a reason to worry just yet. And he hoped that it stayed that way.

Their little walk was interrupted partway through before his new Atlasien acquaintance took off her coat and folded it in a very organized sort of fashion. Glas raised an eyebrow at the whole thing, not that she would have been able to see it from behind his hood though. "Ah me? Nah, warm days are the best for taking naps, so I keep it on. 'Course, cold weather is also great for naps becaus the coat keeps me warm then too, so it kinda works out both ways. Lucky for me, right?"

"Yeah I guess so... You do like to sleep a lot, don't cha? Well Akel said that yet she was almost the same, except this was because of her own heritage. Nothing she could do there but figure out a solution to get a working routnw that bonded well with her classes should she make it through the exam.

"Where do you come from? You aren't an Atlasien, you don't seem like the type who'd come from the rough-and-tumble lifestyle that Vacuo is known for. So I would say from somewhere within the confines of Anima." Akel took a moment to think and then looked at his clothing. "However generally Mistral's citizens do usually tend to wear decorative clothing." Akel realized that she was slightly rambling and decided to cut herself off their and just looked at Glas. Her golden left eye giving off her natural malicious look without really meaning to.

"Got it in one, Akel" Glas said jokingly as he nodded at the girl. "Naps are pretty important to have, after all. Feelin' tired? Take a nap, wake up refreshed. Need to burn a few hours and got nothing else to do? Take a nap, travel through time, boom. Having trouble paying attention to a boring teacher and don't feel like putting forth the effort to catch up? Take a nap, the class is over, boom." Glas slowly gestured each 'boom' by pointing his finger as if it was a gun and shooting before he placed his hand back into his coat pocket.

"As you can see, they've got plenty of uses. I just make sure to take lots so I don't get rusty with the whole thing is all." He was clearly joking, but his relaxed way of talking might have given the impression that he was being totally sincere as well. Then again, naps were important.

Akel had answered Glas' question about where she came from, it was only fair that the girl was curious and wanted to know the same from him. He was about to answer, but she decided to try and suss it out herself out loud first. He had to admit, she was doing a pretty decent job at trying to work it out too. "You got pretty close, y'know?" he replied as he slowly pulled out his right hand from his pocket and gave Akel a thumbs up. "Only correction I got is the higher class folks in Mistral have all the fancy clothing. The rest of us kinda choose to spend our money elsewhere."

Besides, all those stuffy clothes? I bet it's not the least bit comfortable to sleep in. Pretty major design flaw if you ask me. "I come from Windpath. just a little north of the main city. Nice little place I guess. Figured I'd try striking out on my own for a bit though, get out and see the world and all that jazz."

((I'm sorry if this comes off as rude! People tend to be judgmental, and Stan especially so. His views don't reflect my own, yada yada yada. Also, sorry for just kind of shoving my character in the middle of things, I've been waiting for a good time to come in and it never came xD ))

Stan hadn't wanted to bother the kids, he really hadn't. He'd arrived at Beacon too tired to give a shit about what was really going on. He was dressed sloppily in a shirt and jeans, he was 90% sure he'd missed a belt loop somewhere, but it should be covered by the hem of his shirt so really, who cares?

When he'd noticed the two in front of him meet up, his first thoughts hadn't necessarily been kind. The guy was wearing some ridiculous coat, despite the weather, and the girl was even worse, dressed in a dumb outfit that fit better in a comic book than in real life. Combined with her completely unpractical hair, it seemed more like a kid playing dress up than a real huntress in training. He didn't say anything though, just because he was rude on the inside didn't mean he had to let everyone else know. Plus, he was here to study, get strong, and stay busy. Plans which didn't involve being outgoing or talking to his peers.

When he'd noticed them heading the wrong way, he almost butted in and said something. But fuck it, let 'em make mistakes, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

When the girl mentioned that her friends called her vampire, he almost choked on his own spit. He'd been about to split off and head towards the auditorium, but instead he veered in their direction. This conversation was too golden to miss.

Of course then they stopped being hilarious and started talking about napping or something. As a spur of the moment thing, just because he felt like it, he tapped the boy on the shoulder to get his attention. "You guys are headed the wrong way, just letting you know."

With that job done, he increased his pace, getting ahead of them and turning back to the right direction.
Spoiler: ShowHide

((I realize that this is a bit odd, with him just walking off. But it fits the character, if yall just want to have your characters gossip about him or whatever thats fine, don't feel like you have to keep him in the scene, but feel free to if you want to. I just wanted to get a first post with the character and establish him a little bit.))
We can't have three different signatures anymore? Fuck the new board that's it I'm out.

Note for anyone who actually reads my character profiles: They're all jokes. Like...seriously. Anything that seems dumb is probably intentional, and even if it isn't I'll say it is to avoid admitting that I'm anything less than perfection.

'Well that was odd was the fist thing that came to mind. Despite being behind Akel was going in the same direction as the mass amounts of students who had also came off of the airships that were quickly disappearing out of view. "Strange".

The little walk with Akel was pretty good, but it also kinda didn’t seem that they were… getting anywhere near an auditorium either. Or maybe they were! It wasn’t like Glas had the first idea what Beacon’s auditorium looked like in the first place, so he was as lost as he could possibly be. Besides, she had said that she’d lived in Vale all her life. Probably meant that she knew where all the stuff around Beacon was… right?

The Mistralian boy shrugged slightly to himself and decided to just continue following Akel anyway. Worst comes to worst I’ll just miss out on… whatever it is they’ll talk about to new students. Probably’ll just ask a teacher or someone else what I missed. …Oh wait how am I going to know where to sleep then? Ehhhhh it was bound to work out somehow. Why waste energy worrying?

“A’ight, got a question for you,” Glas said “What’s there to do here in Vale? Don’t exactly plan on spending all my time at Beacon after all. Gotta spread out and find some new places to chill out in a new town-“ However, he had a slight interruption in the form of a Faunus tapping him on the shoulder. “Oh, yo. How can we help you-Oh okay you’re leaving now that’s cool.” The stranger had only imparted the information that the two of them were apparently going the wrong way before he left again, which left Glas and Akel at a crossroads.

“So uh… You think we should follow him or what? I got nothing to lose either way, so… Eh?”

(Okay, I guess it's been awhile since someone posted here. hm.)

Kenny's eyes stared at the big Building, known as the beacon Academy, in wich she got accepted a few weeks ago.
How should I EVER find my way around here? It's huge! She thougt while she came across the same tree again.
With a big sigh she lay bag on a wall and looked in the sky.
Kenny quickly turned her attention to the pocket of her hoodie in which something forcefully tried to escape.
"Pssst Kuma! You know you shouldn't come out. How will people react?"
After a couple of seconds the thrust at her pocket left and she sighed in relief.
