Forgoing most of his regular detection abilities, Ferus resolutely forged ahead, aiming for the last known coordinates of the scouts. If they were surrounded by the Grimm, the best plan for them would be to hole up in the outpost and wait for rescue, which was what he was banking on. If they were not, that would both make finding and defending them that much harder--
"Psst," a voice whispered. "Over here." While he wasn't pinging his Aura off anything that did, Amane would have detected them much earlier. Upon pinging his own aura, Ferus found the pair hiding in a surprisingly well-built and camouflaged shelter.
"What was that wind, dude?" one of the scouts asked, a middle-aged nondescript man holding a oddly thick spear. "Didn't know Grimm could create gusts that large." The other, much older guard spoke up too, a large metal tube on his back. "Before we left our outpost to start running, we spotted a swarm of Lancers, led by their Queen, heading our way. If we don't move, we'll have them on our tail real soon."
Jocelyn had to admire Prism's tenacity--even with something going horribly wrong the girl was still fighting hard. It might have been her imagination, but it sounded as if the gunshots were gradually coming closer, too. From the readings on her scope her Aura hadn't gone down much either. She could only hope Prism was alright.
"Coco, cover me! I'm targeting and firing!" she shouted, dropping to one knee and raising the barrel of Hyacinth to the sky, aiming for the giant Nevermore that was now in range. In a flurry of movement, she unloaded her entire clip on the head and neck of the Nevermore, aiming to at the very least deter it from coming closer.
Jocelyn's Combat Log:
● Aura: [███------] 47%
● 0/7 bullets in mag
While the flock of Grimm in the air were focused on reaching the village, they did not anticipate the attack coming from the ground beneath. Prism's electrified shots took out one, two, three before the remainder noticed, three of the Griffons beginning a descent to dive-bomb the separated Hunter with sharp claws and beaks.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn's inferior shots peppered the thick hide of the Nevermore, not even garnering a reaction other than it pulling up and raining a hail of razor-sharp feathers on the duo at the edge of the forest. The remainder of the Griffons stayed in the air, circling like vultures patiently waiting for their prey to die.
TARGETS:
● Giant Nevermore x 1
● Griffons x 10 7 (3 shot by Prism)
Battle Log:
● Dive Bomb (7% x 3) on Prism
● Razor Feathers (5% x 50) covering a wide area on Coco and Jocelyn
