Only the best of Hello's. [Team SSDS]
« on: November 29, 2016, 03:14:01 AM »
Seth struggled to stay awake during the airship ride to Beacon. He had only been in Vale for a few hours after going days without sleep, so of course he was also a bit miffed. Though, no amount of sleep deprivation or regret could stop him from plotting. Despite his sorry state he knew it would be good to make 'friends' right away. Hopefully he could get some pawns outside of his team. Though, even if he doesn't make team leader as planned he had some ideas on getting attention. The airship finally landing, Seth was the last to leave it, stumbling off it carrying only his weapon and a small bag as luggage. Groggily, he looked around at all the students there already, looking for any standout contenders to join his ranks.

(OOC:
posting order is Seth, Serin, Diesel, Symbol.)

Serin had been extremely excited for his arrival at his new home, Beacon. The schools tall tower had climbed over the horizon what had felt like hours ago and the air ship was only now beginning to land.'Ah I finally made it! Im so hyped, everyone else looks pretty hyped too, the guy other there looks fairly exhausted though but he does appear to the outlier here. I wonder whats his deal is he looks like he hasn't slept in weeks.' He thought while scanning the new environment. After several more eternities the doors to the outside world finally opened freeing Serin and the other students from the confines of the ship, allowing Serin to break out in front and get his first breath of Vale air.
"The air here is different, its not nearly as cold or crisp as Atlas, it feels, fresher." Serin said to no one in particular as the fresh Vale air ran through him. Grabbing his luggage that consisted of a large suit case and a backpack filled to capacity he headed toward a group of people who looked interesting in order to go about the process of making friends. After talking to that group for a bit he moved onto a another small group that was forming, and another, and another. Eventually he was left with the stragglers at the end of the ship when he saw the guy from earlier that looked exhausted. Serin locked onto his target and walked over to the guy, waving his hand and smiling.
"Hey there! I'm Serin, what's up? I see your also a new student at Beacon so we should stick together! After all no one alone can get though this can they?" He said very enthusiastically.

Diesel awoke with a jolt as he felt the airship finally touch down at his new home for the next few years; Beacon Academy. He wiped the gunk from his eyes and stood up to stretch, looking around the airship at all of the other clearly extatic students. 'Why is everyone so damn jolly, it's school, one of the most boring things in existence' Diesel thought to himself, a smirk beginning to grow across his face, 'But then again, it's a school for fighting, something that I am MORE than familiar with. I just hope I don't get teamed up with a bunch of useless morons...'

He began to walk to the airship's exit, but noticed a rather weak and tired looking boy struggling to keep his eyes open. He looked so...worthless. Diesel chuckled a little, thinking of what would happen if he got put on a team with that sorry excuse for a huntsman, and then it hit him. "Ah, shit. What if I don't get to lead the team I get placed in? What if one of the moron's gets to call the shots and gets us killed?'

Lost in his thoughts, Diesel wasn't paying attention to where he was walking. Before he could realise, he had walked straight into another student that was also on their way to leaving the ship. Diesel snapped out of his thoughts and looked up at the person he had run into, staring blankly at them. "Hey man, watch where you're going next time!" Diesel said angrily, not wanting to take the blame for his own clumsiness. He shoved his hands in his pockets and walked off quickly, not giving the other student any time to respond.

Well that was a thing...
Symbol sighed, watching the hulking figure move retreat into the distance. Joints popped and he let out a groan as he bent down to pick up the book he dropped.
"Books are nice" he mumbled, "books don't bump into you, then tell you to watch where you're going...."
Why did he think he could do this again? He'd expressed a desire to become a Huntsman and help people, and his caretakers, Simon and Roomba had only been too happy to go along with it; they'd trained him in multiple fighting styles and how best to use his Faunus abilities.
Unfortunately, the one thing they hadn't taught him - the one thing he probably needed the most - was how to communicate with the beings called "people".
Sighing again, he continued to read as he walked. It was his favourite book, "The Man with Two Souls Two" and he kept it on him always, more as a comfort item rather than just for reading material. When he read it, he didn't have to worry about anything else, didn't have to be scared at what kind of initiation they'd go through, didn't have to notice the fact that he'd forgotten his prized weapon and left it on the Bullhead, nor did he have to notice that fact that his fly was down and people were pointing and laughing.....
........
........
.....................................
"Shit."

In his almost half-concious state, Seth managed to notice another student coming toward him.
"Hey there! I'm Serin, what's up? I see your also a new student at Beacon so we should stick together! After all no one alone can get though this can they?"

Seth simply continued his glare, blinking one eye after the other. "muh?" He muttered, before allowing his head to slump and look at the ground. "It's too early for that kind of enthusiam...is it?...what time...uh, whatever. 'm Seth." He slurred, lifting his arm up for a handshake without raising his head. "You've caught me at a bad time 'm afraid. But, like...sure...we can stick together. So long as you swear loyalty or whatever." He rambled, trying his best to sound at least semi coherent. Seth yawned, stretching our his arms, then back. Finally he was able to get a proper look at the student in front of him. Short, spiky blonde hair, fairly lean build and a height that made him tower above Seth. Needless to say, Seth was now having to look up to look Serin in the eyes.

"Hey at least buy me dinner before you ask for me to swear loyalty" Serin said chuckling at his own joke. 'I'd better cool it with the gun hoeness around this guy ,man he looks dead as a Grim in front of a bullet. How long has he been up?' His inner thoughts rambled on while on the outside Serin composed itself and he looked down on Seth wondering what kind of guy he was, it seemed unfair to pass judgement on him when he was so tired since everyone becomes different when they don't feel right. Further analyze of the area he realized that it was pretty much just him and Seth left alone with a couple of other stranglers who looked equally exhausted as Seth. There was one guy picking up books with his fly down while a meaner looking guy towered over him with a angry expression."Come on, you can do good on that dinner you promised me at the cafeteria and maybe then I'll swear my loyalty to you. Only one way to find out right?' Serin to Seth half joking before grabbing his stuff and following behind the mass of students who had already gone following the promise of free food, hopefully delicious but realistically average."You coming"?

As Diesel stormed off, away from the student he had just run into, he resumed his thoughts about teams and how his placement will effect his time at Beacon. 'There is always the chance that if I do get put in a team with a moron for a leader, I could take charge of a situation if it goes bad. For now, I will just have to see how everything plays out.' Diesel then looked up at the sky and sighed, ending his thoughts and focusing on the only direction he could go from where he was now; up.

Then he heard someone mumble behind him. "Books are nice, books don't bump into you, then tell you to watch where you're going...." Diesel turned around and saw the student that he bumped into, bending down to retrieve the books that had fallen as a result of Diesels carelessness. Diesel felt slightly angry at the bookworms statement, but given the circumstances behind what happened and how Diesel was truly responsible for it, he felt obligated to atleast aplologise.

Diesel walked back over just as the other student stood back up, books in hand. Diesel looked the student in the eye and spoke sternly. "Hey man! So...Uh, about how I bumped into you..." Diesel paused for a second, feeling like a fool for having to admit his faults, "Sorry about that, but don't think this makes us friends or anything, cuz we're not!" Diesel held his fist out and then took a deep breath, calming himself, "Anyway, the name's Diesel Alipsis, and you are?" Diesel asked before looked down and noticing that the other students fly was down.

Diesel chuckled before bursting into laughter. "HAHAHAHA! YOU'RE FLY IS DOWN BRO!" Everone else in the direct area turned around to point and laugh. "Shit." was the only thing the other student could say.

Why me?
The thought had been going through Symbol's mind quite a bit as of late. From his caretakers revealing to him his 'secret heritage' to the fact that they half expected him to reclaim his rightful seat as head of a gang and change it for the better. He had absolutely NO interest in running a gang. NONE whatsoever!
.......
Ok, maybe he'd though about it once or twice - but who wouldn't? All those Vacuan gangster movies had rubbed off on him it seemed.

Right, where was he? Oh yes, in the middle of being laughed at by a giant who was pointing at his crotch; in particular, his downed fly.
Now, to be fair to Symbol, he was awkward as hell. As such, he had no idea what to do fist in this situation; zip up his fly, shake the monster's hand and introduce himself, or try picking up the books he'd dropped again? What Symbol did was an amalgamation of the three - which could be summed up as trying to zip his pants up with one hand, pick up the books with the other and use the third - wait third? - to shake.
.......
The result... wasn't pretty; and had Symbol on the ground once more, only this time with his hands over his manhood, writhing in pain.
"FFFUUCK."

"Hey at least buy me dinner before you ask for me to swear loyalty"

Seth grumbled slightly and dug around in his pockets. Then continued to grumble some more as he both remembered and found out, that he in fact had no money at all. Though, he did find a half-eaten slice of bread in his pocket and offered it to Serin. "A king has to feed his troops...right?" He smiled weakly, trying his best to keep up his usual smug, sarcastic attitude. Seth kept his hand held out to Serin as he looked around at the students all moving away. Though his looking around was cut short by Serin talking.

"Come on, you can do good on that dinner you promised me at the cafeteria and maybe then I'll swear my loyalty to you. Only one way to find out right?'

After hearing this, Seth realized that he hadn't actually properly responded to Serin's previous statement. "Oh, uh...I'm broke." he shrugged groggily, tilting his head to the side. "You coming"? Seth paused for moment and blinked a few times, before nodding slightly.

As Serin walked toward where he assumed the mess hall was he heard someone loudly cursing behind him, out of curiosity he turned to look at who was causing such a commotion. It appeared to be some other student writhing on the ground in the pain clutching his private areas,  and there was a larger student standing over him who was currently laughing. "Well that doesn't look like a fun situation for that kid to be in huh?"Serin said to Seth before turning back to the mess hall. 'Eh, I'm sure its nothing bad, kid probably ran into him and he relievedly hit him or something. I dunno. I just wanna eat.' He thought as he kept walking toward the mess hall."Don't worry about your food, its on me today. Guess you have to pledge your loyalty to me huh?" Serin chuckled.

Between the landing area and the mess hall Serin kept a constant stream of words flying out of his mouth, more so than usual. "You know, I don't usually talk this much. Like don't get me wrong I talk a lot regardless if anyone is around or even if they're paying attention but I think it's more cause of nerves today you know? Man I'm just so excited to be here. At Beacon! It feels like I'm in a dream and this isn't real! I thought for the longest time..." Serins sentence was cut short as they arrived at the cafeteria, the doors were propped open to allow fresh air and new students in to flow inside. The cafeteria was packed full of people with most chairs full and the remainder being fought over by students who wanted to sit by their friends. Serin walked over to the food area and grabbed a plate filling it with food that looked good or new before looking around for a table."Looks like we're going to have problems finding some seats huh? Its packed here. We might need to fight someone for some seats....OH! There's a couple of seats over there!."Serin said running over to one of the few empty tables left over,"Whew that was lucky huh? So anyway I've talked a bunch about myself. What about you? What's your story?" He said taking a bite of his food.

Diesel's laughter was cut short by the loud curse coming from the student that was now on the ground, holding his crotch in agony. The student had somehow managed to injure his crotch when trying to introduce himself, which made Diesel want to laugh even more, but he knew that wouldn't help the situation at hand. 'I can't believe that idiot managed to nut himself! He's a lot worse than I expected, but I suppose, seeing as i'm trying to meet people and...' Diesel shuddered at his next thought, 'Make friends, I should help him up and see if he's alright.'

"You alright bro? I can't believe you managed to to do that. I suppose sorry isn't going to cut it this time, I kinda humiliated you in front of a whole group of people." Diesel bent down and held his hand out to the student to help him up, "You seriously need to work on improving your motor skills man, like, how did you even manage to do that to yourself? Anyway, how about we go and get some food, i'm starving! My shout, its the least I can do to apologise."

Yay, I got a friend(?) Now just walk off the pain. Just walk.... it off..... Whatever you do, don't blow chunks all over the guy....
Symbol leaned over, taking deep, gulping breaths. He had to think of a food to eat, quick. Something that wouldn't make him sick. He hated making someone wait while he chose his order. It was so awkward! In fact, he just despised awkward moments in general.
There had to be some irony there, since he seemed to do nothing but create awkward moments. Like this! This right here! Where do you go from getting knocked over by a dude, having him come back and apologise, then sack-wacking yourself while trying to make an introduction? Screw it, if his uncles had taught him one thing, it was the importance of having alli- friends, of having friends. Yep. That's what he meant.
"So uuhhh... what's your favourite food? Yep, you really went there. You asked a guy you just met what his favourite food is. You could've asked him anything! You could've shown him your weapon! He looks like the kinda guy who's into that, and this is a school for warriors! But nooooo, you just had to go with "what's the thing you like to put in your mouth the most?"

I feel like there's an innuendo somewhere in there, but then again I really don't feel like pointing it out is the wisest course of action. My uncles didn't give me much advice about diplomacy; well, nothing useful anyway. They could never seem to decide what the right thing to teach me was between "smile even if you're unhappy with someone" or "If they piss you off, shoot 'em; then screw their girlfriend.
I think I need to get some new mentors...

"Well that doesn't look like a fun situation for that kid to be in huh?"

Seth glanced over at the situation and gave a slight eye-roll and sigh.
"I'm sure it's nothing worth paying attention to." Seth said, following behind Serin. He started quietly munching on the little bit of bread he had offered to Serin, when the guy decided to speak up. Seth wasn't mad for him trying to continue a conversation, but he also didn't like being annoyed while eating.
"Don't worry about your food, its on me today. Guess you have to pledge your loyalty to me huh?" Seth gave a dissaproving glare to the back of Serin's head and quitely mumbled
"Yeah, when I die." in between bites. Seth sort of tuned out the rest of what Serin was saying as it seemed to just run on into incomprehensible babbling. Seth sort of put himself on auto-pilot, following Serin into the cafeteria and grabbing a plate behind him. Though, when Serin had loaded his plate and took off Seth finally started paying attention again as he decided what he was going to eat.

Quickly browsing through the selection so as to not extend the line of students behind him he grabbed a small selection of the available fruit and vegetables. Turning to see Serin running over to a spare seat, Seth blinked a few times and wondered if he had missed something in his tired daze, before making his way over to sit opposite the table of Serin.
"Whew that was lucky huh? So anyway I've talked a bunch about myself. What about you? What's your story?"
"Was it lucky? I mean, you think they'd have enough seats. As for my story, it's long and filled with a lot of sighs. Though, the short version is, I grew up wandering the desert until I decided that was a good career." He explained, obviously abridging his life story a lot and cutting out some of the more...key elements.

Though, the short version is, I grew up wandering the desert until I decided that was a good career."Seth told Serin, "What a long and interesting life story. The desert part was my favorite."he said while eating his food. He sat in silence while he finished up his food, inhaling it at a high speed. Once he finished Serin slammed hs fork onto the table and leaned back. "Whoo, that was a good meal. I don't feel like getting seconds, bbbuuuttt it was really good. Like really good. Of course you would know since you also ate it." Serin eyed  the food area once more before sighing and getting up to grab more food, mostly desert this time. "I am going to sleep like a baby after this hot damn, and this food is so good." He said shoveling cake into his mouth and rolling his eyes into his head for more effect. "Cake is the best, gotta love it right? Much better then pie. Pie can't even compete." He blabbered on between pieces of cake locking his eyes on Seth. "Well, we've eaten and Im stuffed. Do you have any idea of what we're suppose to do next cause Im just playing this by ear and didn't read the pamphlet or listen to anything they said on the flight over soooo...."

Ok, Diesel was certainly confused by everything that had happened today. He had rammed into another student and blamed the accident on them, then returned to apologise, laughed at the student for having his fly down and then watched him nut himself in an attempt to fix his situation. Now where was he? In line at the cafeteria with said student, waiting to get their food.

Diesel used this time waiting to think about everything that had happened and come up with some way to make allies in a simple and painless manner. 'I could always just ask people, but then I have no idea who they are, what they are like and how they perform as a team. There is always the option of getting to know them first, however that takes effort, and effort is not something I throw around at random.' Diesels thoughts were interupted by the other student speaking to him.

"So uuhhh... what's your favourite food?" Diesel looked at the student, puzzeled by how out of nowhere the question was. 'Did he seriously just ask me what my favourite food is? I mean, I can understand why given our current situation, but what does it even matter?' "I should be asking you that, dude. I am the one buying your meal for you after all." Before the student could reply, the cafeteria serviceperson asked Diesel what he would like to order. "Um, i'll just have the Spaghetti, please." Diesel then looked at the other student and smirked a little, "Hey, Nutcracker, how 'bout you?"

NOTE: First off, sorry for being inactive. Time contraints are a pain in the ass. I'm back now and I will most definitely be more active from now on.
