Nathan scratched at his beard - he'd once again been too lazy to shave that morning and the hairs weren't annoying enough yet, anyway. Glancing around, he took in the initiation venue's sights: Fellow students milling about noisily (one was playing... guitar?), professors eyeing them up, the Sun well above the horizon and occasionally obscured by clouds, the air fresh with the forest's night. A decent morning, all in all.
Crossing his arms when he arrived at his designated spot, he simply stared out at the forest sprawling beyond the cliff face, attempting to spot anything that could possibly be of significance. He only turned away when the headmaster began his speech. Which was mercifully brief and packed with all the necessary info; partner, ruin, relic, survive. The speech finished, he turned back towards the forest and concluded that there was nothing to glance from the vista. Nice tree cover though, he sure liked the colour.
Uncrossing his arms and bending his knees slightly in preparation for the incoming launch, he mentally reviewed his supply prep from earlier and concluded everything was in order. The students had quieted down now, save for the guitarist whose mellow melody turned to metal as it departed the ground, following him. The pads were activating closer and closer, until his turn came, at which time he was unceremoniously catapulted towards the Emerald Forest.
Barely managing to keep the position he wanted in mid-air, as he neared the inflexion point of his course, he fired Ergia for a few seconds to gain some ground. He had no idea where the ruins were, but they likely weren't that close to the cliff. After the aforementioned few seconds were up, he let his body spin forward until he was once again in a 'standing' position, then spun his arms to keep the rotation from continuing. As the canopy rushed towards him, he once again fired Ergia, slowing his descent to a speed he could easily absorb by rolling once he got to the ground, which he did.
Taking his weapon off its harness and into his hands, the staff's poles extended as he broke into a light jog heading forward, senses keen to any unusual noises. Yeah, starting the day by running in the golden-green shade of a cool forest was definitely nice.
